Write a reviewShameless Author Review. Max has been reincarnated into a world of Mecha and an ongoing Galaxy wide war. He gets off to a rocky start, with a crazy mother, but his fortunes will quickly change once he begins his mandatory education at the Military Academy and the System dormant in his body fully activates. Follow along as he builds himself up into the greatest Mecha Warrior humanity has ever known.
Excellent book if you like well thought out mech combat. This novel also avoids the classic trap of the academy arc going on forever with the main character(s) getting into action early unlike others where there are hundreds of chapters with the MC as a child that does basically nothing. The descriptions of the battles, the tactics, and overall action sequences are phenomenal. I binged the entire current library to 125 chapters overnight having to go to work without sleeping. One thing I would like from the author is a little bit more active almost info dumping. Pretty much nothing is known about the universe until it is plot relevant. New races or kingdoms get mentioned when something big happens, but you do not know how it all fits together. In the author's other novel, they introduce the other continents before the MC visits them which, for me, made the world overall seem more alive. Overall, read it, you will not regret it. Thank you for writing an amazing mech novel!
I've read up to ch. 600 Initially takes places in the Universe of the Kepler Empire where the MC is reincarnated into the baby of a drug addicted looney mother with amnesia of his previous life that he slowly regains with time. The pacing for the prologue of the story from the mc's birth and until he's graduated the military academy as a crusader mecha pilot leading his own company is lightning fast which is great as nothing gets stale during that section. During his time at the academy he becomes unspoken friends or battle buddies with the female lead due to them being their only rivals and similar A-rank system compatibly. The novel take heavy inspirations from WH40K mecha classifications and design, infantry being fodder, commissars, inquisitors, and emperor. With the WH40K style of military it gives the early engagements with the mc a gritty vibe. From the academy and till now him and the female lead have been through it all together every step of the way with some flirting here and there that now seeing them finally hit 3rd base felt very special. The only negative of this novel is that it's getting boring that the interesting mecha combat and strategizing is being interspersed with 3 dozen chapters of introducing various new tech and socializing with characters you don't need to remember the name of(envoy's aren't even given a name lol how lazy). Once the advent of the colony ship arc the story has taken a steep downturn in effort and it appears that the author has become lazy and greedy, as the recent chapters as of late have been full of useless chatter and dialogue with the purpose of padding out the chapter with otherwise microscopic level of substance. It's take 3 or more chapters to get the same substance of a regular chapter. This author needs to shape up or I'm dropping this novel.
Didn't get past chapter 4 the writing quality is bad like take you out of thr story bad. It's an interesting idea maybe I'll come back later abd give it another try.
The character of Nico and the way she interact with the MC is confusing. It give the impression she is the MC. The MC is supposed to be reincarnated but he forget his memories instantly and she keep hers(that the MC more or less "plunder"). So it gives a portrayal of Nico way more impressive that of MC (kinda feels like neo-feminism to me). Not to sound sexist or myso but if u pick a story with a male lead to have the FMC in all point equal or even superior u better read a strory with female lead. Must we male feel pathetics and inferior even in novels now to suit the social trent?
honestly, I don't know if giving this 3 starts is fair, but I don't enjoy this as much as I want to. mc doesn't seem that unique, considering that he somehow has instincts but no memory of past life, while someone else is his BFF and has both. this ties in with the weirdly worded title that seems to specify that only the mc is great and has this system, which he doesn't. im guessing that he gets more unique, but man, it's not really enjoyable to read now.... it's just kinda a slog right now.
I liked this story... up to a point. If you are interested in mechs, mech battles and upgrades, this is a story you'll definitely like. This story painted the lifestyle so well it almost made me go out and purchase the latest Mechwarrior game out on Steam! The world background makes sense, the character backgrounds are interesting and a bit mysterious, and their progression makes sense and is consistent. The only thing that was off for me was their emotional states. Most of the time, the emotional reactions of the characters are within human norms and are believable. Kids get frustrated with their parents, or are wary about their teachers, or have a love of mechs because they are "cool". It's later on in the story that I have some issues. When a big loss hits our main character, he doesn't seem sad per se. He just stays around to do what he can then moves on to complete his task. There is little to no reflection of him mourning that loss or that loss affecting him emotionally or inhibiting him. Later, he finds what he has lost but there is no sense of real relief from him. It's just another day, it seems, and life goes on. The same thing happens to the other characters around him. They encounter losses but don't really feel the loss. It's almost like they are brainwashed or on drugs. Or it is just a tragic story that happened on the news. It doesn't affect how they live their lives (even though it happened to them or people they knew). So while overall I'd rate the story as a 4, I am dropping reading this story because of the lack of emotional development of the characters. If you don't really care about that sort of thing and love mech stories, it's worth a read.
Just one question. Is this novel about Max's training and gaining more power( maybe with kingdom building kind of stuff) or is it just about Max becoming a good solider who will more or less follow commands?
All in all one of the best reads I have ever had the pleasure of spending time on.... However the only thing I have complaints about is the ending. It feels as though the author just gave up at the end and took the lazy way out of having to write anymore. but other than that an absolute blast of a read!
The story was going well.... until the shotgun ending that just ruined what it had going for it... Loved Max and Nico, a great pair that played off each other well, the system aspects were largely left behind after about midway through the story. This includes Max's continued development of his system 'powers'. After that point it becomes bigger and better mecha, which is awesome, but they get used... once or twice before being replaced. Overall about 3.5, unfortunate as I was hopeful of the story continuing.
Amazing
Following the tale of Max and Nico had brought me great enjoyment over the last few years. Getting to watch the two grow from young children to great Mecha pilots and then into competent faction leaders has been a wonderful experience. I can enthusiastically and without reservation, recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci-fi and especially to those who like Mecha. After all, Giant Robots are a man's true love. The story contains both copius amounts of action and just the right amount of intrigue to satisfy both types of reader. It even contains plenty of science and development style chapters for people who enjoy reading about that. Overall I have yet to find another book on this, or any other, platform that I have read on daily release for more than a full year, like I have for this one, and now that it is complete, no one has to go through the daily suffering that was 2 chapters a day for oh so many days. I am greatly looking forward to Aoki's next book, and can highly recommend all his other works as well. Every single one has high quality writing, fantastic unique characters, great world building, and enough of both intrigue and action to appeal to both types of reader.
Reveal SpoilerI love this novel. wish there were more chapters available to read but hey all good thing take time. Tarith Nico is best!
this gives me somuch dashavu I swear I read it before but it was the uther way around where the Mc was female with a male name and the mom was poisoned with a memory Thang that the Mc fixed
I really enjoyed this work, the build up to the action and the aftermath followed by the transition of story arcs is well done. Thank you for the journey.
I love the story and I’m rereading it due my first time of stopping around the 20th chapter but it’s one of the only stories that I can read through over again and still be entertained as well as I hope Nico, as well as Max get into a relationship. But keep up the good work.
I've read to about 200 so far and I'm still wondering if they have found what genetic (genes) he's from...
well here is my take this novel is very good and very entertaining to read, i got to chapter 200 however the romance with moonie has kinda ruined it for me it felt forced and now knowing that this is not Harem so the chance of him ending with nico, it just feels bad man :(
