I hope this changes, because from what I've read, firing arrows simultaneously isn't effective. If the enemy has sufficiently strong shields, enemy troops can continue advancing with minimal stamina expenditure, stopping only to take cover from volleys of arrows. Unlike with continuous fire, they would be forced to slow down or halt their advance to seek cover or keep their shields raised at all times.
