Why doesn't he try the ocean. Water plants can able make their own underwater forest. Even better, he can claim it as an experiment to clean the ocean up. So many land water sources too.
Even though he already possessed the power of half of the Amazon rainforest's nature, compared to the entire Earth's ecosystem, the rainforest was only a tiny part. Wanting to link the entire ecosystem through this small fulcrum wasn't possible.

Yeah, that's a problem, Voldemort gets vanquished on October 31st, it's now November 1st, but author obviously made it so he just found out where the Potters are. Therefore, the plot line is messed up and you good sir are screwed!
The thought of facing Voldemort without any proper training, solely on the basis of his newfound powers, terrified him but the fact that the note read that he had arrived around roughly the same time Voldemort died due to Lily's machinations was a slight relief.

Voldemort believes in the prophesy because Dumbledore believes in it. The proof of this is because even though he heard the prophesy from Snape, he sent his Death Eaters to retrieve it when Harry picked it up from the Department of Mysteries. Actually, Voldy should have been able to pick it up himself as the prophesy identified him personally and Harry could have been Neville instead.
Ben had a theory that Dumbledore already knew about Quirrell and Voldie but didn't yet know about the Horcruxes. And unlike the Dark Lord, Albus Dumbledore believed in the prophecy as he had fought Grindelwald who was a seer himself.
