Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Interaction Mode

When Banner saw Oaks using Nature magic to quickly sprout a large area of saplings, he almost transformed again.

"So this is a Druid?"

Banner pointed to the lush green saplings in front of him, which were dancing with excitement.

"Is Celtic mythology true?"

"An experimental accident, just an experimental accident, but the abilities are indeed similar.

Perhaps I should make a trip to Ireland, maybe I can discover something, who knows."

Oaks cleared his throat and gestured with his finger. A small vine rose beneath Banner's feet, wrapping around them and forming a pair of vine sandals.

"Although they may not be as comfortable, at least they're better than being barefoot, right?"

Banner remained silent for a moment, nodding heavily.

"Indeed, science knows no bounds. Oaks, you are truly fortunate to possess powers you can fully control."

He didn't believe it, but he had no explanation.

Just like he couldn't explain Hulk either.

"Uh... how do we get out of here? How far is it from the human city?"

In Hulk form, Banner knew he would reach the vicinity of human settlements with abnormal speed and strength.

But now, even if Oaks could transform into a bird, he couldn't carry someone along...

Hmm? If he transformed into a leopard, Banner could ride on him. The speed wouldn't be slow, right?

"Dr. Banner, are you thinking of something inappropriate?"

Oaks twitched at the corner of his mouth, understanding the glimmer in Banner's eyes with just one glance.

Stop thinking about it, it's not happening! Never!

No one should even think about riding a noble Druid!

"Let's take a boat."

Oaks waved his hands, and a large number of thick vines grew rapidly, quickly forming a rudimentary boat.

Then, the vines hardened rapidly. Banner tried to pull them, but they were as hard as logs.

"Such a convenient power, just like in cartoons."

"It's only useful in the forest. It won't work that easily outside."

Oaks shrugged, transformed into a bear, and pulled the vine boat with a long vine in front. Banner followed along.

"Roar!"

Oaks almost scared the green out of Banner with a single roar. After a while, the water surface began to ripple, and half of a crocodile's head emerged.

"A crocodile!"

Banner pressed his chest in an attempt to calm himself down. Did Oaks really summon a crocodile with that roar?

The huge brown bear that Oaks transformed into stared at the crocodile for a while. The crocodile slowly swam to the front of the vine boat, opened its mouth wide, and bit onto the dragging vine. It then turned to look at them.

"Let's go, Dr. Banner."

Oaks transformed back into human form, jumped onto the vine boat, and beckoned to Banner.

"With this crocodile pulling the boat, we should be able to reach the human city by tonight. I'm sure you wouldn't want to spend the night in the rainforest."

"..."

Banner carefully jumped onto the vine boat. He had become numb to the effects of Oaks' so-called "experimental accident."

You can command wild beasts too? Whatever you say.

"Let's go!"

...

The swimming speed of the crocodile was indeed very fast, and they reached their destination before sunset.

This is the place where Oaks conducts experiments with his express delivered equipment, a paradise for adventurers. It is located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, in Manaus, the largest city in the Amazon River Basin and the capital of Amazonas state, Brazil.

"Ah, there are Nokia and Siemens factories here, and even a duty-free zone. Not bad at all."

Finally back in human society, Banner was in high spirits, especially with Oaks around. He no longer had to worry about the possibility of losing control and transforming into Hulk at any moment.

"I've been here a few times, but this is the free trade zone of Brazil. If you want to hide your identity, it's not a good place."

Now, Oaks and Banner arrived at the hotel Oaks had booked. They freshened up, changed clothes, had a satisfying meal, and then retrieved Oaks' experimental equipment.

After three days of testing, they finally made some progress in understanding Banner's blood.

"Dr. Banner, what is your perspective on the existence of Hulk?"

After using pure plant essences combined with nature magic to attempt to purify Banner's blood, Oaks discovered that the blood cells in Banner's body showed signs of suppressed activity.

Although the blood activity would return to normal after the depletion of Nature energy, it remained calmer than before.

However, this was only applicable to the blood outside the body.

They also tried injections and oral administration, and the effects were similar. The difference lay in the speed of effectiveness. But the common point was that once the Nature energy was depleted, the blood activity would quickly return to its original state.

"Have you ever considered controlling that state?"

"I want to get rid of him! Not control him!"

Banner was joyfully observing his purified blood sample under a microscope when he blurted out without hesitation:

"He has brought me too much misfortune!"

"But based on the current research, I can tell you with certainty that Hulk is an independent consciousness distinct from Bruce Banner."

Oaks shrugged. At present, Banner strongly resisted Hulk, but there was nothing he could do about it.

After all, Hulk had harmed his girlfriend, Dr. Betty Ross, and his father-in-law, General Ross, had been relentlessly pursuing Hulk's power without giving up.

"I can help you suppress the abnormalities at the blood level. At most, you'll need to drink more of the special potions I prepare. But for the independent personality consciousness at the mental level, you'll need to resolve that on your own."

Seeing Banner's expression turning helpless as he observed the depletion of natural energy in the samples, Oaks took out a large bottle of emerald green potion and handed it to him.

"Dr. Banner, when your blood is inside your body, there is a trigger guiding it to quickly restore its activity. I believe that trigger is the latent consciousness of Hulk—just like the subconscious mind in a human brain, responsible for breathing, heartbeat, and metabolism."

Banner sighed, taking his eyes off the microscope, and accepted Oaks' potion.

"I have also realized this, but for now, I can't accept coexisting with him temporarily."

"Perhaps these potions can allow you to carefully experience a state of coexistence in a peaceful manner.

I can't stay here for too long. I have an intern in my shop, and if everything gets sold out, he won't know how to restock."

Making a little joke, Oaks patted Banner's arm with a smile.

"You should take one bottle cap of these potions every day. It should help suppress the activity of your blood.

However, if you encounter extreme situations, such as life-threatening ones, Hulk will still come out on his own."

"Haha, the subconscious mind of self-preservation."

Banner shrugged, feeling a sense of resignation.

"When I fled to the Arctic Circle before, in a moment of despair, I tried to commit suicide by swallowing a gun. Hulk immediately emerged and spat out the bullet.

Since then, I've had a vague realization... I just haven't been willing to accept it."

"Thank you, Oaks... You've given me new hope!"

Banner looked at Oaks earnestly, stood up, and bowed deeply to him.

"I think I should reconsider the mode of interaction with Hulk."
