Ok so the higher the talent is the better particles that can be absorbed thus the higher gains on the exp. So if your in alpha talent you have the lowest amount of exp but if you were delta the same creature would net you more exp because the particles type is higher. So the ratio for the race is needed to have a higher tier to make it easier to grind so there is no time wasted. So Taylor being given beta was clutch because it made him slower for the race, stats and ability he had. Now with the massive change his leveling should be way higher at base. Also he would be atleast out ranking the planets overall tier ranking.
In broader terms, think of leveling up as eating a meal and Assimilation as digestion.

I know you can’t buy more than one but can you use more than one. Because you can get some one to buy it and steal it.
I think what happened is a glitch either when he absorbed the bloodline essence or when they introduced the capsule. So I think the “game” was supposed to kill the cloned soul of the body. hence why every one else was like I stopped falling asleep after a certain times. So I think the bloodline made the cloned soul alex stick. I think the scene at the end chapter was martial Alex landing on Earth.
