If they don't know what the protector can do you it's nothing more then an ornament to them. The price should be able to be bartered down significantly as long as Ryoma doesn't play his hand by showing exitement at possibly obtaining it.
However, even if the listed price of the Protector was 1,000,000 yen, it was definitely not something Ryoma could afford right now.

Has zubat swallowed an everstone at some point? He is already way passed the required level to evolve from zubat to golbat, I get this is not like the games where it automatically has to evolve but Sato got him right at the start. Sato has trained zubat many times, battled with him against other pokemon both wild and trainer pokemon more then a few times and they were in life or death fights and prevailed. It should have cleared all the requirements to evolve and then even evolve again into crobat at this point due to the trust and friendship built over the many struggles and time spent together.
Sato didn't hesitate much when choosing his tournament Pokémon. He immediately registered his strongest team members: Zubat and Bellossom.

Should of let the zombies take care of the soldiers or kill them to begin with/ They wanted to kill him because of their orders, their just reward should have been them getting killed instead. They will continue with their orders and enact them on other people who don't have super soldier serum abilities and most likely won't be able to defend themselves from multiple soldiers
"Well, it's all over quickly." I say to them, and see them analyzing my clothes. Looking down, I see that I'm covered in blood. "Don't worry. It's not mine. Anyway, I'm getting out of here. I'll leave some of your weapons with you. Just so you don't say I'm bad. Ah. The key to the handcuffs is here. Bye!" I say as I throw the key across the room and leave.
