It is also the day when our hero starts his journey to became a Transcendent. This is his story.

Hi Readers,

I wasn't always an avid reader. My love for books started when I was 13 years old. I was a tomboy sent to a really posh girls-only boarding school. Needless to say, I ended up with a lot of detention, 3 hours of detention, meant 3 hours of twiddling my thumbs, bored out of mind.

Lucky for me, a roommate gave me a book to pass the time, it was one of those old Mills & Boons cheesy romance novels. Reading made my detention pass in a blink of an eye. A year later I was hooked.

I think most avid readers have an idea about writing a novel, especially when you come across a horrible story, you always think to yourself I could have written something better.

Well, I was one of those, but coming up with a plot is a lot easier than actually sitting down to write a novel. For over 20 years I have had this little dream to write a novel, but life got in the way. Working 12 - 16 hours a day 6 - 7 days a week, made that dream fade away.

Every now and then it would rear its head, I would daydream about it sadly sigh, and get back to being a single mom.

Long story short, 2018 was a horrible year for me, a lot of things happened and at the end of 2018, I came to realize that life is too short, we spend so much of our time just trying to survive that we forget that we are actually meant to live our lives, it was with this realization that I decided to follow my dreams and try to make them come true.

We are really lucky to live in a world today, where platforms like Webnovel exists, so aspiring authors can get their creative work published.

I would also like to warn my readers upfront, while English is my home language, it was one of my worst subjects at schools — I was always weak with languages, and to someone who had to take four compulsory languages (English, Afrikaans, Latin & Xhosa) at school — well you can imagine my horror. I was always more inclined to mathematics and the sciences. I think if my English was still alive and he knew that I was trying to write a novel, he most likely would fall over in a dead faint. So please forgive any mistakes you do find. 

I hope that you will enjoy this reading this story, as much as I am enjoying writing it.

Hi guys! How have you been? We have come to the end of yet another book, and unlike the other times, I don't have much to say this time, lol. So I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

As some of you may have realised, Webnovel censored the word P A T R E O N, so all my links to the P-site had been blanked out. And before any of you think that I'm going to rant about it, I'm going to cut you off and say I support their decision to censor the P-site. Look, they are a company that needs to earn money, and I'm using their platform to promote my novel. They have every right to block the P-site if the want more authors to join their Premium, and I don't blame them for that. Yeah, it might be annoying to move around it, but I'll get by. It's not like they're trying to remove my novel away from the platform.

Being a web novelist of this genre, there's really only two options that you can go to. Royalroad is one, but the big player is actually Webnovel. According to Alexa.com, a website that tracks website traffic, Royalroad is ranked 15,168 globally, while Webnovel is ranked 3,183 (as of writing this author's thoughts). 

So not only is Webnovel the site with the better traffic, but it also has a method to boost readership, and that is to post daily. Using the algorithm, the daily updates feed will feature the novels that post every day, which is why I have maintained this gruelling schedule of writing every single day. So yeah, they may have censored the P-site, but Webnovel has given me a wider readership and boosted my overall readership, which I'm grateful for.

Now, some might ask. Why not join the Premium program then? Won't all your troubles be solved? 

I would be lying if I said I never considered it. After all, with all the controversy the P-site is having plus the constant technical issues for no apparent reason, I have considered just biting the forbidden apple. However, I would never go Premium for two simple reasons.

One, I didn't want my work to be liable to another organisation. You see, I'm already working for a boss and writing Spirit Immortal is my escape from real life. I want to have the luxury to do whatever I want with it. If I feel like writing Spirit Immortal no longer becomes fun, and instead it becomes a chore, I will stop it entirely.

Secondly, I quite dislike the Premium system where only the first hundred-odd chapters would be free while the remainder would be locked behind a paywall. Back before Webnovel became this way, I really enjoyed reading through hundreds of chapters and having the latest ten chapters locked. Something like the Wuxiaworld VIP system I guess (which is why I started a P-site with that structure in mind). I'm pretty sure many of you feel the same way. 

In a perfect world, I would love to give you all the chapters for free. After all, I want the story of Spirit Immortal to spread to as many readers as possible. However, the world ain't perfect man. I have to justify spending hours of my time every day to write this novel and passion isn't enough. As they say in my country, what is passion? Is it edible?

Each hour that I spend writing Spirit Immortal is an hour not spent improving my work skills or taking another job, or enjoying life as it is. Thus, I have to implement some sort of paywall to earn money. That's the only way I can bring myself to continue writing the novel, and to create a P-site is the lesser of the two evils I guess?

I sound like I'm berating Webnovel, but I'm really thankful that it has created such a great platform for budding web novelists. No other site in the world can offer what they have, and to give you some perspective, I shall give you the numbers.

I started posting Spirit Immortal on Royalroad on 24th April 2018 and am currently sitting at over 600 followers with 700k views. I posted Spirit Immortal on Webnovel on 29th June 2018, and I have over 5000 readers with over 2 million views. Also, they once placed me on the trending originals page even though they didn't have to. Not to mention the countless of times they featured me on daily.

As much as I loved the freedom that Royalroad had given me, they never once featured me on trending, which is kind of disappointing since I have been posting almost every day. Also, the rating system in Royalroad is kind of annoying. I once dropped 500 ranks due to one 0.5 rating, and after a huge number of 4 or 5-star ratings, it dropped heavily once more due to another 0.5 rating. So now I just ignore ratings altogether and I do the same for almost every novel I read on Royalroad.

Wait, how did I get into this tangent again? Oh right, I was talking about Webnovel's censorship of the P-site. If you really want to support me and read additional content, you can find my P-site link on my website, let's pray Webnovel doesn't censor that as well.

*NICO*

Life without a mother who will shower you love, while you're growing up and a father who will teach and guide you from what is right and wrong was like walking blindly on a dark tunnel.

My life would have been better if my father was never been  blinded by love and jealousy.
It would have been warm and happy if my mother just easily accepted my father.
Even so, everything is too late for both.

Thanks to my extended family who treated me like a son I was not completely left alone.
At the age of 8 my childish mind was forced  to maturity.
My life change completely.
Having a big responsibility for the business that  my father left.
I solely focus on maintaining the last remaining proof that I am. Existing. 

I work so hard enough that people start to name me as 'Mr.work a holic' Unlike other business men, I never trusted anyone than Yamato, whom I treated as a father.
I am aloof to anybody.
Having not much people around me while growing up, I develop a social anxiety disorder making it hard for me to meet or let new people in my life.

My business in land and properties around the world is being managed by Yamato while I'm instructing him on the background.
I am gifted with my  father good sight of places where we think in the future would be booming like Los Angeles,NewYork,Paris ,London,Antwerp ,Luxemberg and many more town,city and  places that become a tourist spot nowadays. 

Most of my life I spend in the mansion surrounded by forest where I grow up.
In my free time just like today,
I like to spend it alone wandering around the mountain  standing tall behind my mansion, visiting my parents' graveyard cleaning some weeds stubbornly growing repeatedly around my parents' tombstone or walking to the end of my  property nearly a river that runs down from the mountain inside the forest.

I can't explain why? However, I'm drawn like there's a magnet pulling me to this small two-story house outside my property.
After finding out that this place was left to care by my decease mother.
I felt this duty fell on my shoulder.
I took full responsibility over what my  mother supposed to protect and taken care off.

To be honest, whomever own this property should be thankful enough that the house is still good as new.
I heard from Yamato that the only inheritor of this house is a woman  living in New York.

Bothered, I walk out of the house after inspecting it and stop by in the near river.
Sighing I decided to ease my troubled mind removing all of my clothes and diving into the clear cold water.

 Somehow, despite of this full concentration Ishika saw someone coming towards the park and was shocked to that person. It was her mother! She had parked her cycle outside the park and her mother saw it. Her mother was searching Ishika in her colony for an hour. Her mother was about to go inside but quickly she told Harshit that she is her mother and then he ran away from Ishika. Ishika came from another end of the park and came towards her mother.She saw mother's expression-less face and thought, " I'm gone!"
 When they reached home, her mother said that from now onwards she won't go to her music class. Music was one of the things she would always love. Tears started flooding her eyes. She requested mother not to do so. She said ," You can beat me but don't this to me!" Even after crying a lot, she didn't changed her mind. She was having a Social Science exam next day and was gone into her room to study. 
Book was open but she didn't have enough self - control that she could read a word without thinking about music class. She was crying and screaming badly. This made her parents' heart of gold melt and they agreed to let her go to music class. 
After a while, she realized that on that day, she had both of her love. Music and him. She remembered this day till the end. The 12th December 2018...

8th December 2018, it was a very cloudy day. The sky looks as if it's about to cry at any moment. James is currently laying on his bed, trying to recall what happened to him yesterday. He is feeling dizzy from all the drinks & liquors. He tried to get up and look into the mirror, it was a sad-pathetic looking face. He is 26 years old at the moment but he looks like as if he's 40 years old. 

He has it not easy for his childhood; broken family, economy, and his environment led him to the way he is right now. It's not clear since when did he start to drink as his way to be free from reality. It was his way to feel happy even though it only lasts for a brief moment. 

As he tried to go to the bathroom, he fell and hit his head to the table. His head is bleeding, he tried to call for help but can't make a sound. As much as the blood flows, his consciousness is fading and he's out.

James opened his eyes, what he found is a dark room with only a big torch as the source of light. Surprisingly, he doesn't feel hurt on his head. He moved around but only see an endless darkness aside from the torch. He shouted for help but no one replied. 

Approaching the torch was his only option, and as he gets closer to the torch,  a figure is standing beside it. The figure isn't as scary as he imagined, he expected to see a minotaur (goat monster holding an axe) or even a grim reaper with a scythe, but what he found is a figure with a black cloak holding a book.

The figure suddenly speaks: "You're in the room of abyss, you'll be given a choice to rest eternally or given a chance to go back to the past".
James: I'd choose to go back to the past, who are you, what's going on and how does this work?
The figure: "You're not worthy to know the answers. You'll be sent to the past but there's no free meal in the world. There're some sacrifices that need to be made, you'll only realize what you sacrificed later, farewell".

After his last word, James lost his consciousness again.
