One day while driving in Texas he finds that he has the ability to wish death on those he hates. Being scientifically minded, Nom proceeds to experiment searching out the scopes of his new found powers. He begins in Texas, a state he despises. As he moves on from each experiment, he picks his prey to match some facet of modern western life that he hates. Each receive a fate customized to match what Nom feels they did wrong. Nom then travels home to Michigan after initially defining his new role in life. In Michigan he uses his powers to settle a few old scores and family business. A run-in with an old friend convinces him that he is being selfish for not using his god like powers to better mold humanity. The end of the book sees him taking on the leader of the free world. Nom now personifying Death, learns that he has a true foe, Life.Nom will return.

Gun-Ho made a call to Jae-Sik Moon.
"I just received a call from Antang City, China."
"The ones who suggested doing a joint venture together?"
"Right. They are asking us to come and visit them next week. What do you think?"
"Next week? What are we supposed to do if we go there next week? Are we negotiating on terms or something?"
"You don't know anything about a letter of intent and an actual contract for a joint venture deal, do you?"
"I don't know."
"We sign a letter of intent first, demonstrating our intent to commit to the deal. That way, other people won't intervene in our ongoing business deal. We sign the actual contract afterwards."

Gun-Ho went mountain climbing with Young-Eun on the weekend. They went to Cheonggye Mountain which was close to their home— TowerPalace. They chose a path to Yetgol where not many people took. They wanted to have some privacy while mountain climbing.
Gun-Ho and Young-Eun were climbing all the way to Yisoo Pike while gasping for air.
"Are you okay? Not too tired yet?"
"I'm exhausted. Can we go home now?"
"It's only 500 meter away until we reach Yisoo Pike according to the sign."
"500 meter feels like it takes forever. I'm so tired."
"If mountain climbing is too exhausting for you, why don't you play golf instead? I will pay for your golf lesson."
"I don't have time, and there is no place to take golf lessons in Myeongryoon Town."
 
"Even though this is an exhausting activity, once you are done, it feels really good. I feel more energetic during the following weekdays at work."

"Nianzhi, Nianzhi! Get up right now!" Ma Qiqi pounded on Gu Nianzhi's door fiercely. "Big news! It's so amazing! Probably the news of the century!"
Gu Nianzhi had no class that day. After leaving He Zhichu's building yesterday, she'd gone straight to the library to edit her thesis and didn't return home until 7pm. Her brain had been exhausted from the day's events and she tiredly took a shower before passing out on the bed. When she was roused by Ma Qiqi the next day, she saw that it was already 9am. She'd slept a full 12 hours. Gu Nianzhi sat up from the bed in a daze before removing the blankets and putting on a silk and cotton robe and opening the door.
Ma Qiqi's hand was raised in md-kock and froze when she saw Gu Nianzhi's sleepy state. She giggled. "Nianzhi! You overslept!"
Gu Nianzhi smoothed her hair and sheepishly. "I had no class today so I wanted to get some more sleep. What's going on? You almost broke down my door."
"You're exaggerating." Ma Qiqi peered at the door though, just in case. "Where did I break it?" She smiled at Gu Nianzhi happily. "Don't change the topic! I just saw breaking news: that haughty Professor He Zhichu is recruiting a Teaching Assistant within the Faculty of Law!"
Gu Nianzhi's heart thumped; she secretly thought that He Zhichu was indeed a man of action. He'd just told her yesterday that he was going to make the posting and did it the next day. "Is he really recruiting within the faculty?" Gu Nianzhi asked dubiously. "Where did you see this?"
"Here, see for yourself." Ma Qiqi passed her iPad over. "This is our faculty app. You can see it pushing the hottest news!"
Gu Nianzhi looked down to take Ma Qiqi's iPad and carefully read from it. He Zhichu's recruitment posting was concise—he required a teaching assistant and planned to recruit from the Faculty of Law; everyone, from undergraduates to doctoral students, was welcome to apply. The conditions were also simple but high: the candidate must have outstanding academic ability, good conduct, and have at least three recommendation letters. The applicants needed to also pass an exam He Zhichu would administer. If selected, the applicant would be employed as a Teaching Assistant for three years and receive a generous salary.
Gu Nianzhi looked at the iPad with a conflicted expression before returning it to Ma Qiqi. "Are you applying?"
"Of course! You must understand that it's always good to have a dream, and maybe one day it'll come true!" Ma Qiqi giggled as she tapped on the application page on the faculty site to enter her email application. Every B University student had their own unique email address to receive official emails and contact their instructors. It basically acted as a student ID and internal applications only required logging into their email accounts. "Nianzhi, you should apply too." Ma Qiqi pulled her arm to the iPad. "Enter it now!"'
Gu Nianzhi was still hesitating. He Zhichu had an odd temper and severe mood swings. She was already his masters student as well. If she became his teaching assistant on top of that, she would be with him all the time.
Ma Qiqi raised her brows as Gu Nianzhi hesitated to apply. "Nianzhi, what's stopping you? Why are you making things difficult for yourself?" She urged good naturedly, "Are you going to give up such a precious opportunity?"
Yes, it was truly a precious opportunity. Not only did the position provide a generous salary, but it would make for an impressive record on her resume in the future. He Zhichu was a well respected name in both the Imperial Empire and American legal domains. With his reference on her resume, finding a job would be much easier. Additionally, becoming his teaching assistant would also be a chance to learn many new things. Gu Nianzhi thought about it carefully and finally came to a decision. "Ok, I'll apply."
"That's the way to do it!" Ma Qiqi slapped her shoulder. "We'll make the pact now: whoever gets accepted will have to pay for dinner!"
"Ok!" Gu Nianzhi high-fived Ma Qiqi three times as a promise. In the time it took for Gu Nianzhi to apply, she found that she was already applicant #402. The B University Faculty of Law comprised of about 600 students in total, from undergraduate to postgraduate. In other words, two thirds of the faculty were vying for the position.

She added to her son story that since she had also double- crossed her previous mentor, there was no where she could go. Gui Suyao felt that her world was ending—her promising future had been totally destroyed by Gu Nianzhi. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. The initial terror slowly transformed into blame and finally hatred for Gu Nianzhi. Just as she was wishing for nothing more but to bring Gu Nianzhi down with her, her mother connected to her uncle, Prime Minister Dou. Of course, they weren't able to talk to him right away and had to leave a message for the operator.
Prime Minister Dou called back as soon as he finished work for the day. When he heard about Gui Suyao's experience, Prime Minister Dou agreed that He Zhichu was being too dramatic. Forgetting to relay a message was no ground for expulsion.

At noon, He Zhichu received a call from Prime Minister Dou himself. "Lawyer He, I heard that my niece has caused some trouble recently and angered you?" Prime Minister Dou chuckled. "It was wrong of her and I've already scolded her. I've asked her to apologize to you and she's willing to accept academic penalty. Please forgive her childish behaviour."
He Zhichu was stunned but replied cooly, "Your mischievous niece is already 26. I've never heard of a someone that age being regarded as a child."
Prime Minister Dou laughed heartily. "Professor He is so humorous. Fine, I can't argue as well as you can. I'll have Little Gui go apologize and you can punish her as you see fit; she will never dare say anything contrary."
He Zhichu smiled and after Prime Minister pleaded for a long time and even offered to pull favors for He Zhichu's Sovereign Law Office by promising them several large government contracts, He Zhichu finally agreed reluctantly. "Since Prime Minister Dou is so sincere, I can only accept your kindness. In this case, Gui Suyao may return for now and her behaviour will be observed."
In other words, Gui Suyao had no other chance after this if she made another mistake. Prime Minister Dou was satisfied as long as He Zhichu accepted Gui Suyao; he accepted all the terms. As soon as he set the phone down, his study door was opened and his youngest daughter, Dou Aiyan, burst in excitedly. "Dad! Professor He is recruiting for a teaching assistant! The interview goes well and you go out to leave. As you round the corner, you bump into a tall slender man. "Sorry! I didn't see you there." Hes says apoligeticaly, picking up your bag "It's alright. No harm done. " You say brushing off your hands on your thighs. The man looks you up and down. "Hope to see you around!?" He says. You nod waving bye as you walk to your car.
You return home to find the door unlocked... Strange I thought I locked the door... You think as you push on the door and it steadily and slowly creeks open. At least I remember closing it... You place your purse on the counter and lock the deadbolt and handle. Shutting the door you walk into the shower the hot water pattering on your skin. The steam from the shower fogs the mirror on the slidding door.
As you shut the tapes off, you step out having the sharp coolness drift over your skin.
Changing into your evening outfit, you step out of the room and the lights have gone out. You walk to the basement to look for the breaker panel. A shadowy figure moves and catches your eye. Ignore it you turn the RESTART button on and the lights flicker to life. 
You turn to see a man in all black with a stupid face mask. "Who The Fuck Are You!!?? You scream. A sharp pain comes into contact with the back of your head and you're out like a light.

This man, his eyes, his body, his voice... make me fall to my knees.
But will his darker side find its way to try to kill me?
Justice saved me frome being taken by a human trafficking freak.. But he also took my virginity. Weather to thank him or hate him, I think my heart made that desicen. But will he love me forever?
Will he leave like everyone else? Will this war between people be over? And will he be a good father to my baby, that he has made?

Two bottles of my favorite wine (YOSSA V.S.O.P. 1995) are lying in the cabinet; I want to drink a few glasses and talk with… someone. Finally, there is a duty of friends of the heart after all, right? But of course, they are never at hand when are most needed!!! Annette 's phone was stubbornly silent, so I decided that I drink alone – I need some alcohol, especially today. I stood along with the cabinet, thinking about the choice of the appropriate glass, when my eyes fell on a pile of letters, thrown carelessly on the fridge – apparently my roommate emptied mailbox and left my part at the agreed place. She always puts my letters on the refrigerator, while I'm leaving her correspondence under the mirror. But do I really want to view them now? If I skip it until tomorrow, today will be one bad news less. A few weeks ago I replied to an advertisement for an internship. It was a very large and well-known newspaper, and probably they troubled themselves to send me a negative note, in which in polite words they wished me "the great successes in career development" – unfortunately not with them... I'm not in the mood today for another defeat. I prefer to drink some wine and think about my future carrier as a provincial school librarian. Well, but if... if they are not refused me? What then?! Am I really ready to go to the big city, to begin a new life?

I take out a bottle from the cabinet and slowly pour the wine into the glass, savoring its color, texture, and bouquet, and finally a beautiful, harmonized taste. Hmm, maybe enough of that? Whom you are trying to deceive, poor girl? After all, you can't distinguish the harmonized taste from any other. I just like this wine, so there's no sense to feign the sommelier. At the end of the first bottle wine, it's really outstanding, but when I opening the second one, the thoughts about Ian suddenly grasps me again, and memories are coming back with a painful force! I remember that I tried to call Annette again, crying into the phone on the whole damn world, and then... I think I went to bed?

I wake up in the morning with a terrible headache and a horrible hangover. Well, I drank yesterday two bottles of wine... I am moving slowly to the kitchen, and then, still almost blind from pain, swallow aspirin, strong painkiller and a sedative, then, ignoring the protests of the stomach, sip it all with milk. I remember vaguely that I had something to do today… but what? Go out? Well, of course – check the mail! I'm nervously searching through the leaves of paper – outdated greetings, gas bill, banknote... Ach, it is! Elegant envelope with the logo of "mine" newspaper. I tear it rapidly, my hands are shaking from emotions, so I have problems with deciphering the letter. Madam! Thank you for your application... Come on, come on! We are happy to welcome you on a three-month internship...
My emotions are so high that I'm just sitting on the floor. They took me for an internship! So all my sleepless nights and my dreams – spells almost! – finally, have a chance to appear!

Well, so when I'm supposed to be there...? I look back to the letter – the day after tomorrow?! But I do not even have a place to stay, and besides that, what I have to wear?! It's a great newspaper and I need to look absolutely professional, not as a provincial librarian! I'm turning upside down all my wardrobes, but except clothes good enough for barbecue or countryside disco I can't find absolutely NOTHING! In desperation I grab the phone and call Annette, begging her in my soul to be somewhere nearby at this time. And she is, thanks to God!
– Well, sweet, you will not believe what happened! – I'm triumphantly declaring the good news. 
– I know very well – she interrupts me with a cold voice. – Yesterday you've recorded on my cell a few minutes of drunken gibberish, something about an internship in the newspaper. Now I understand from your tone that it was a positive message – because yesterday it was hard for me to judge.
I accept her malice stoically, without commenting them even without a single word – apparently sedative is working. Just after an hour of conversation, our plan of action begins to be more clear. Annette has a sister, with whom I will stay for some time, and tomorrow we go for round-over shops to supply my wardrobe. I want to start a new chapter in my life – with a clean sheet and... without Ian.

It was really crazy raid around malls, but I've hunted two pretty good jackets. Packed in only three suitcases, I'm saying goodbye to Annette and after a few hours of train journey landing in the capital. My flat is located far away on the outskirts, but is clean and nicely decorated, and Karina, my roommate and Annette 's sister, seems to be a pleasant and kind girl. Quite good beginning, I said to myself, dressing up in a new jacket, bought especially for the first day to work. It is true that it is only an internship, but I hope to that after it I'll get a real job and stay here for longer than the initial three months. Following Karina's advice, I left home in advance, adding time for traffic jams. Fortunately, I'm arriving on my destination at a time (still a lucky day!), as headquarters of the newspaper are located at the office building in the center of the city. Along with a few other people I'm going into the elevator and the doors had already started to close, when at the last moment high, a slightly breathless woman ran to it. Everyone instinctively moved away from her, as she looks not as woman, but the fiery lightning. Fury bursts through her body, from the tips of high heels to the mane of fire-red hairs, which curls around her face – even pretty, but now contorted in a grimace of rage. She turned on her heel to the door, showing all people around how tires her even this temporary company; her movement was so violent that workbooks she kept scatters on the floor of the elevator. The woman turns furiously on our side, then looks straight at me.
– Well, what are you standing there, you idiot?! – yells at me furiously. – You scattered it, so be kind to gather now!

Her anger has an almost physical impact on me. Without a word of protest I'm collecting scattered papers, and then giving them to flaming fury. She measures me with scornful eyes, then smiles contemptuously and turns to the door, no longer gracing me with her attention. I stand like paralyzed, almost afraid to breathe. The elevator stops at the next floor and now we are only two in it. In my head borns terrifying suspicion: have we going to the same floor? Well, the elevator panel illuminates only one digit. And it means... it means that we will work together in the same company. With all the strength I'm trying to keep a straight face – how nicely my work begins! Or maybe I'll leave it all, turn around and go home? I will probably have to work with this harpy every day. Oh God, what if she is my boss?!

We leaving the elevator together and going to the same door – I was right! Harpy throws a mocking glance on me and then disappears in the depths of the office. So nice, it seems that I have the first enemy here, even before had occasion to begin a new job. I wonder if I have a talent for this, or it was simply bad luck, just meeting of the wrong person at the wrong time and place? But as soon as reported to the front desk, bad thoughts quickly goes out of my head – the next few hours turns into one big vortex of talks with my new colleagues, arranging desk, signing various documents and "induction training", first of many awaiting me. Seems that my boss is away, but I'll meet him in the evening, on... banquet. Is this real editor's work – going from one party to another? 
– Don't be stupid – says Henrietta, one of the others girls on internship period when I confide in her with my doubts. – Boss is always attended on such banquets, as it's a great opportunity to hear the latest gossip and check who is going up... and who not. We both go there straight from work. He wants to see us there, and maybe you receive your first task?

It was the weekend and Grace was still hospitalized, well more like she refused to leave because of the attention she was receiving all around. Grace was watching a movie on her phone and giggling when Samuel came in
"When are you planning on leaving this place?" He asked a bit petrified about the idea of her staying for another week. "I am still sick you know" Grace said without looking up from her movie.
"In what way are you sick hon? You were only admitted because you passed out after seeing your hand bleed. That was also your fault. Your hand is all healed by now so I don't see a reason for you to continue staying here" Samuel said a bit aggrieved.
Sighing deeply, Grace let out a big yawn before turning away from Samuel. "You know other boyfriends would be fussing all over their girlfriends if they were sick or hospitalised" she said as she continued her movie in her new found position.
Samuel facepalmed at this, "Miss Grace Valentine can you please stop all these and let's go home?" Samuel was feeling really miserable with her whole being sick of a thing. He couldn't even go to work peacefully during the week because he was scared she would throw a tantrum.
"Ouch" grace let out a yelp as she held onto her left hand. At first Samuel was scared but seeing as she was holding the wrong hand, he couldn't help but shake his head. "Are you not going to check on me, Samuel? My hand is feeling so sore right now" she said shamelessly.
"I would have been bothered if you were holding the correct hand but seeing as you don't even know which of the two is causing you pain, I am going to take my chances and sit down comfortably" Samuel replied. That was the last straw from her.
"I actually thought I meant something to you but now I realize I don't even mean anything to you" Grace said trying to act out a bit. "You mean that same hand you were using to chat all night long, non stop?" Shee would have continued with hwr charade as she was losing quickly but her whole drama was stopped by Annabelle. A saving grace for Samuel but a thorn on Grace's side.
Inhaling sharply, Grace turned to Annabelle in anger only to be shocked when she saw all that she was holding. With her mouth wide open she looked at Annabelle who was still smiling in unbelieve.
"Hi, I know you don't like fatty foods so I got you a few things to aid your quick recovery" Annabelle said feeling proud of herself. She had spent almost the entire day looking for low cholesterol but highly sugary snacks for Grace.
"Wait, you call these a few things?" Samuel asked pointing to the heap of junks in Annabelle's hands. Annabelle eyed Samuel as he said this. "In what world are those things low cholesterol?" He said a bit shocked at Annabelle's analogy of low cholesterol.
"Why don't you keep your suggestions to yourself, Samuel" Annabelle retorted, what in the world was wrong with him today anyway? "That is because only a sick person gets special treatment not my pretend girlfriend" Samuel said as he left the room angrily.
"OK, what's up with Mr. Cranky pants?" Annabelle asked Grace as she placed the shopping bags on a table. Grace was visibly angered by Samuel and planned on ignoring Annabelle but thinking about it she acted otherwise.
"I really am not sure too" she answered with a lie. Who gives a damn in the world about her concern anyway? Grace thought grudgingly. "Oh! By the way, Samantha sent her regards. She would have being here if she could but the company needed her" annabelle continued with her monologue. 
She was only trying to be nice for Samuel's sake not that she was really into talking that much. That was Samantha's department anyway. She sat on a chair as she brought out her phone, thinking it over again she decided to put it down.
"How have you being? She asked. Grace who was thinking Annabelle had asked her was  about to blow up. 'Why was she suddenly so interested in her affairs; first the gifts, then with Samuel and now' she didn't think she could handle anymore questions or statements from her.
"I would like to rest now so if you don't mind..." She was still rambling on when she noticed Annabelle was no longer with her. The latter was actually on a phone call, A GOD DAMMED PHONE CALL. Grace got even more pissed when she noticed she was not the center of attention anymore.
Annabelle had humiliated her not just once now but twice and she was beginning to get more and more offended. Annabelle had no idea someone was plotting evil against her and continued her call happily whole chatting to God knows who.
Looking up as soon as she was done with her call she smiled at Grace. "I am very sorry about that. I thought I heard you say something when I was on the phone now. What was it?" She asked with a bit of concern apparent on her face.
"It was nothing" Grace said almost repeating her mistake of injuring herself with her nails again. "Oh! I should be on my way then" Annabelle said as she stood up. "I have some business I need to attend to. Which reminds me Samuel and Samantha said something about an application you wrote to Alexander Corp?" 
She only remembered that last part as she planned on leaving. "Actually, there was no need to write an application. My dad is quite connected you know" Grace replied happily. Annabelle was a bit confused when she heard this. There was a strict rule about the application process for Alexander Corp so how does she plan on going for the assessment without any proper application process.
"You seem a bit surprised" Grace said triumphantly. "That is because the only people exempt from writing the application letter are the Alexanders. Any other person irrespective of how connected he or she is has to write a complete application to access their level of competency". Annabelle said logically
"What are you talking about?" Grace asked a bit confused. "All I am saying is you need to go to the company yourself for verification. The applications come to the Human resource management department anyway so I kind of know what I am talking about" Annabelle paused before continuing "Samantha just texted me that she will be here soon but I will take my leave now. Be sure to take care of yourself. Bye"
"Wait!!!" Grace called out to Annabelle, the latter turned to look at her a bit confused. "Can you help me look for Samuel? He probably won't answer me if I do call him" Grace finished a bit embarrased. It was an after thought on her part as she called out to Annabelle. Feeling a bit conflicted she changed the question that was on her mind.
Honestly, she wanted to say something else but at that point she felt a bit shameful to ask the real question that was bothering. Maybe connection was not everything in this world. High connections got her through schools though. With that mindset she also believed this time around it would be the same.
Thinking about it, if she did apply that would mean Annabelle was going to have access to all her information, including the high school she studied at. Then all her plans for revenge would not go smoothly as planned. 
Annabelle looked at Grace strangely seeing her so lost in thought. A bit scared it was because she had a quarrel with Samuel, she tried assuring her everything was okay.
