Fangzheng smiled. "Do as This Penniless Monk says. Be your Queen Snow Eagle and not the Li Xueying who grew up in this village! What should a queen do? You should be more skilled than This Penniless Monk, right?"
Li Xueying thought for a moment before nodding. "I understand. Justice is tempered with mercy. I need to ensure a distance."
"Let's go."
When they arrived at Li Xueying's house, the neighbors immediately surrounded her.
As for Fangzheng, he had already activated A Golden Millet Dream when he entered the village. He made himself unrecognizable to everyone. Furthermore, everyone's attention was on Li Xueying. Therefore, Fangzheng was naturally treated as an assistant and was someone of zero importance. Naturally, no one cared about him.
Upon seeing these people suddenly gather over, Li Xueying's nasty vibes wavered. Even Fangzheng felt like he was surrounded by a group of hungry wolves with evil intentions. Fangzheng suddenly understood why Li Xueying wanted to move. If the villagers here had gone bad, the village was no longer the original village.
The humans were no longer humans but wolves. If they stayed, they would only be bitten by the wolves. If they couldn't kill the wolves, they could only leave.
Just as they were about to approach, the seemingly useless scum suddenly stepped forward and blocked the door.
"Who are you? Go away!" someone said unhappily.
"This Penniless… It doesn't matter who I am. What's important is that Ms. Li is visiting her family today and doesn't wish to be disturbed by anyone. If there's anything, head back first or wait here," said Fangzheng.
"Go back? Wait here? Are you crazy?" someone asked.
A balding man chuckled and said, "Do you know who you are talking to? Everyone here watched Li Xueying grow up. We all know what she had done in the past. You have to think it through. You can stop us from entering, but if we are unhappy, we might tell the media about what Li Xueying did in the past. When the time comes, don't you beg us to enter."
"Old Jiang is right. Punk, get out of my way. Don't delay us!" another old man shouted arrogantly.
Fangzheng remained unmoved. Instead, he secretly gestured to Li Xueying, indicating that it was your turn.
When Li Xueying saw this, the panic in her eyes suddenly calmed down. For some reason, she found that the white figure in front of her resembled a mountain that blocked the elements for her. She was no longer afraid…
The arrogance and coldness unique to Queen Snow Eagle made its return. Her eyes swept coldly across the villagers in front of her. Wherever her gaze passed, the villagers, regardless of gender or age, would subconsciously turn their heads away, not daring to look her in the eye. Following that, they looked angrily at Li Xueying. It was as though their flinching had insulted them greatly.
One of the women said angrily, "Li Xueying, what kind of look is that?"
The balding man said, "That's right. Do you not know manners? Who looks at elders like that? Did Li Haisheng teach his daughter this? Get him out!"
Upon hearing that, Li Xueying's eyes wavered slightly. However, the white figure in front of her tilted himself to block the balding man. He appeared in Li Xueying's eyes. Li Xueying's gaze turned firm as she said coldly, "My gaze makes it clear that you aren't welcomed. In addition, I'm officially announcing that we will be moving tomorrow. Also, it's time to return the money that you owe me."
These words were like a bomb thrown into the crowd, and the people who had been clamoring immediately fell silent.
After some time, the balding man, Old Jiang, finally snapped out of his daze. "Li Xueying, what do you mean? Has the money you earned outside got to your head? Just because you are famous, you now despite the land that raised you? Also, if you hadn't received our help all these years, would you have developed your career so well? We haven't even asked you for payment. Yet, you have the cheek to request payment from us?"
The elder added, "That's right. When you were young, you even ate our melon. Back then, we didn't even ask you to pay up."
The woman added, "Last year, Li Haisheng and his wife accepted a bag of carrots that I gave them. Back then, I didn't ask for any money either. How dare you ask us for money?"
Upon hearing that, Li Xueying's eyes turned even colder. "Since you want to settle scores, I, Li Xueying, shall settle scores with all of you today! Grandpa Chen, I'll call you grandpa, but I hope that you can live up to this title. I ate a melon of yours when I was little. How many cents did a melon cost back then? Forget it. I'll count it as a single yuan. Let's say the interest doubles every year—a high interest loan, am I right? Now that it's been 10 years, I'll give you 512 yuan for that melon. Is that not enough?"
Grandpa Chen turned agape. This price was astronomical for a melon.
Following that, Li Xueying immediately said, "Since you don't have any objections, fine. Leave the melon's money aside. Let's calculate the money you owe me!"
With that said, Li Xueying took out her cell phone and turned on the speaker mode. She said to her assistant, "Check on Grandpa Chen's promissory notes and see how much he owes me."
The assistant immediately checked. Fangzheng hurriedly helped her up. He knew that it wasn't because Li Xueying had exhausted all her physical strength.

The temple has a bald but handsome monk. Every day, he would bawl, "I want to renounce asceticism! I want to marry a chick that's not too pretty, have a cute baby, and lead a stable life!"

This book is a casual novel that introduces various Chinese traditional customs, as well as Buddhist ones. It strives to be a positive book, allowing people to reflect on how they should live their lives and treat others.

It was a book titled Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Thou it is one of the greatest classic novels of all time, J hasn't read it but it is in her reading list. She hasn't met Felix's wife and thought that it was so thoughtful of her to give her a book. Felix probably told her about her fascination with classic novels.
 
She kept the book in the bookshelf that Jacob provided for her in the study room.
 
Now how about the flowers. She doesn't want to leave it at Evergreen Villa because they don't live there temporarily. Now she regrets taking it with her. She should've left it at the Parkers Mansion.
 
"Honey, aren't you done?" She heard Jacob called her in the bedroom.
 
"Yeah. I was wondering what to do with these flowers. I should've left it at the mansion." J said when she walks out of the study room.
 
Jacob's gaze at the flower turned grim. "Now they only gave you a problem with those flowers."
 
J smirk. "You are just bitter."
 
"Just leave it here," Jacob said.
 
J gave her an icy glare. 
 
"Leave it here and I'll have Lulu take it at the mansion. Happy?" Jacob said with slight irritation, however, J knows that he was just faking it.
 
"And put it on a vase then place it on our bedroom," J added.
 
Jacob rolled her eyes. "As you wish."
 
J smiled with complacency. It is rare for her to accept flowers from others so the experience is a bit overwhelming.
 
The couple left the house and J was taken by another surprise.
 
"We are taking this?" J is looking at her blue sports car that is now out of its garage with wide eye. It has been weeks since the last time they drove her beloved sports car and she missed it. This past couple of weeks every time that they went to Lodgepole Estate, Eve's and Martha's Home, they would take Jacob's SUV because of the stuff that they had to bring with them. Big boxes of grocery items and toys would not fit into her sports car.
 
"Yes," Jacob replied satisfied with the look on his wife's face. "Here," Jacob said then J looked at him with astonishment. Jacob is passing her the glass key of her sports car.
 
"You are letting me drive?" She said with teary-eyed. The last time she drives was during the Lotus City Motor Speedway Championship because Jacob seriously never lets her drive in the street since her accident at the Naupaka Racing Circuit.
 
At first, he just told her that she is forbidden to drive until her cuts and bruises heal but then he later on decided that he will only let her drive if he feels like it. And it has never happened yet until today.
 
Jacob smiled sweetly. "It's your birthday."
 
"Is it just for today or from today onwards?" J asked hoping for the latter.
 
Jacob thinks for a while before he answers. "Definitely for today." J felt a little disappointed. "But I'll think about the latter."
 
J's eyes were sparkling with happiness. "Okay. I'll accept that." She said before she walks around the sports car and steps inside the driver's side.
 
She drives ecstatically. Damn! She missed it! She missed the steering wheel. She missed the adrenaline. She missed seating on the driver's seat.
 
"Where to?" she turned and asked Jacob. The day's itinerary was supposed to be a surprise but how can it be when she is the one behind the wheel. Jacob suddenly regrets giving her the key.
 
"Black Heiress Team," Jacob replied. Their first itinerary is now not a secret anymore but what's in there is still a secret.
 
J looks at him then she replied, "Okay." without probing any further.
 
The Black Heiress Team is located near the Lotus Motor Speedway. The front building is a two-story building. It is where the showcase area, souvenir shop and the team's main office is located. While behind that building is the team's own repair and custom shop.
 
"I think you should not park there," Jacob said when J was about to park in front of the building. The race car enthusiast and fans of Black Heiress know that she owns that kind of sports car they are driving and if they saw it parked in front of the Black Heiress Team shop, people would flock around for a chance to see her.
 
"Oh... Okay." J understands so she drives around the building and parked inside the repair and custom shop instead.

At the age of 10, J's parents died in an ambush leaving her in the care of her grandfather who years later sent her away along with her best friend to hide her and her identity from those who would try to kill her after her parents.

20 years past, a lot of things had already happened. Her dearest grandfather died, she came back to Lotus City, and was secretly married!

She was married off by her grandfather to his best friend's grandson before he died and she was oblivious about it.

Do this secret marriage has to do with her secret identity?

Nix waited outside of the entrance, it was opaqued to the point where they couldn't see through it, so there was no guessing what they might face on the other side.  He was standing squarely behind Nunzo while Aja and Omak stood closest to the door.  From what he could tell, Aja was a thief type class and Omak some sort of ranger.  They took their orders from Nunzo, who was a hybrid tank/dps combination.  All three of them looked impressive.  

All of their huds buzzed at the same time, a briefing for the instance popped up.  

[Vooni's Recruits]

This zone had three hidden items.  They are guarded by Archon level creatures.  Find and bring back two of the items without any deaths.  Your individual score will be based on contribution.  

Mission Time: 3 minutes.

/Fire: Aja: Not much time.

/Fire: Omak: How do we play this?

/Fire: Nunzo: We'll split up.  We'll find the first target together, if you can solo it call out! Time starts when we enter.  Ready?

/Fire: Aja: Ready!

/FIre: Omak: Ready!

/Fire: Nix: Ready!

The group entered into a heavily forested area, there was only one path, so Aja sprinted down it with Omak and Nunzo close behind.  Nix brought up the rear since he was unable to run at top speed. 

[Dragon Eyes]

The images of his teammates became brilliant red blobs, their natural flames drowning out the outlines.  Nix scanned through the woods, immediately finding all three targets.  

/Fire: Nix: The first target is 50 meters directly west of Aja.  The second target is Northwest of that one by 100 meters.  

/Fire: Aja: West?

The group skidded to a half, giving Nix enough time to catch up.  

/Fire: Nunzo: You two head west, I'll take Pon with me!

Aja and Omak increased their speed, apparently, they had been holding back so they wouldn't lose the slower Nix.  Nunzo waited for Nix to catch up.

/Fire: Nunzo: Lead the way, Pon!

/Fire: Aja: Found the first target!

The 'way' ended up being a small meadow with a large pond in it.  A vicious-looking trio of Ice wolves sat quietly on the bank.  

/Fire: Nunzo: Three Ice wolves, if you finish early we might need help.  

Nix stood back, not sure how much he should do, the wolves gave him a sense of extreme danger.  

[Flashblade: Advanced]
Nunzo appeared in the center of the wolves and landed a slash that sent two of them flying.  

Without meaning to, Nix leaned back and six strands of emerald flames shot from each hand, encircling the two wolves that were tossed away.  

Angry howls of the captured Wolves filled the air, the sizzling of their flesh sent giant clouds of steam billowing upward.  They turned and charged at Nix.  

[Deadly Strike]
Nunzo has landed a mortal blow on an Ice Wolf Fury.  

Nix cursed loudly and activated his bond ability, disappearing right before the wolves caught him. 

[Critical Chain]
Nix has followed up Nunzo's strike with a critical hit.

An Ice Wolf Fury has been slain. A mission essential item has been added to your inventory.

/Fire: Aja: Our target is down!  Heading your way!

Even though the swap took Nunzo by surprise, he didn't miss a beat. 

[Knight's Challenge]
Nunzo has called out a challenge.  All opponents must answer the call!

Nix chose the closer Fury and sent 12 Emerald strands at it.  These were sharp strands with barbed tips that sunk deep into the Fury's flesh.  With both wolves attacking Nunzo, he wouldn't last long.  Nix slowly dragged his target away from the Flame Knight.  

Aja and Omak arrived in the meadow just as Nunzo finished off the second wolf.  The three members of the Fire team all turned their attention to the Fury Nix was holding.  It died under a barrage of critical hits.  

Nix turned and headed east, the timer for the instance only hand 40 seconds left.  

/Fire: Nunzo: Third target Pon?

/Fire: Nix: This direction, 75 meters.

His three teammates quickly overtook him raced away.  Nix was struggling to breathe, even in Salamander's form.  The third target was a pair of Rock Spiders by the time Nix arrived, one was dead and the other nearly there.  

[Emerald Flame: Lance]

Nix managed to hit it once before Aja finished it off with a few seconds left on the timer.

/Fire: Aja: Yes!  That's the bonus!

/Fire: Nunzo: Well done. Three Mission Essentials.

/Fire: Omak: When's the last time we got the bonus?

They walked back to the entrance together and exited as a group.  Nix flopped down immediately on the ground with a tired groan.  Captain Vooni, their trainer was already waiting.

[Your Strength has improved]

[Your Stamina has improved]

/Fire: Aja: What the f*ck is that on Vooni's face?

/Fire: Omak: It's weird right?  If I didn't know better, I'd say it was a smile.

/Fire: Nunzo: Impossible.  

Instead of reading their scores, Vooni knelt and patted Nix's emerald head.  "You okay there little Salamander?"

"No.  Can I go home now?"  Nix turned over on his back.  

Vooni nodded and rubbed his stomach, "just take deep breathes Pon."  

"Pon the Magnificent," Nix corrected.  

"Of course, Pon the Magnificent."  Vooni stood up and posted their scores.  

Nunzo: Flame Knight: 92
Aja: Fire Wyvern: 89
Omak: Fire Drake: 88
Pon the Magnificent: 71

/Fire: Nunzo: That's what I like to see!

/Fire: Aja: Hold on... Did Vooni just give him belly rubs?

Nix finally turned over and stood back up. His team seemed to be having a laughing fit at his expense.  

Nunzo had to bite his lip to stop smiling when he turned toward his trainer. "I feel like this instance score doesn't properly reflect Pon's contribution. I request a three-point correction.  

Aja didn't bother to hide her mirth from the Captain, her white teeth flashing. "Same here, three-point correction."

Omak nodded in agreement.  "Three points."

Vooni considered their request before reopening her hud and adjusting the scores.  "Three points it is, well done, everyone. 

Nunzo: Flame Knight: 89
Aja: Fire Wyvern: 86
Omak: Fire Drake: 85
Pon the Magnificent: 80

Vooni dismissed her recruits, waiting with Nix while they walked away. "I will definitely remember this.  Thank you."

Nix smiled and activated Deep Blue.  "Three days until the next one right?  See ya then."

An hour later Nix exited the elevator on the 50th floor of the Embassy.  He waited patiently as the transparent Stormsinger glided toward him. The last time they had spoken, Nix had threatened to dismantle the Embassy if a restriction wasn't placed on the Embassy portals.  "Greetings Esta Helisstuiride." 

Esta gave him a mischievous smile.  "Guild Leader Nix. Did you bring Arch Winds?"

"No. I have some questions." Nix returned her smile. When he asked Elune about ships and shipyards in Oasis, she had recommended he talk to a Storm Elemental. Sinking ships at sea was one of their favorite pastimes.

"Hmmm... I can answer questions regarding the Embassy and this floor.  Outside of that, I'm afraid my knowledge is limited." Esta circled him once, her corporeal body swaying and bobbing as she moved.  

"You're a Stormsinger, right?  What's the difference between that and a Storm Elemental." Nix thought he'd start off with an easy question since he already knew the answer.

Esta lowered herself until she was gazing into Nix's yellow eyes. "You asked me something I want to answer so I'll make an exception.  There is no difference, I'm a Storm Elemental."  Her smooth voice reminded him of flute music.

"Is it true that Stormsingers love to play with ships?" Nix was suddenly glad he hadn't invited her to the Sea-World. Someone like her could wreck the entire wharf without trying.  

Esta covered her clear mouth with both hands, refusing to speak. Her watery eyes were filled with mirth.  

"You don't want to say?"  Nix had reasoned that Esta must be from Oasis since no one seemed to have encountered them in Colonial.  "Come on, with the crappy ships in Oasis, you must have sunk entire fleets."

Esta let her hands drop.  "Their ships are pretty bad, one little gust and they... Hey!  Trickster!  I'm not saying anything else." She shook her transparent finger at him and started floating away.

"I've taken the Gemini Temple,"  Nix spoke quietly, even though they were the only ones there. Elune had told him that if Esta was from Oasis, then she certainly knew the prior Lord of the Gemini Temple."

Esta stopped and slowly turned around, her clear face had lost all semblance of humor. "Tessa Beryngare's Temple?"  She moved closer and locked her opaque eyes on him.  "I sense the Gemini..." Her voice dropped to the softest of whispers.  

"Can we speak now?" Nix kept his voice polite, it was obvious from her reaction to the name that they had not been enemies.

Esta nodded slowly.  "Yes."

Nix sighed in frustration.  "Why does your face always itch the moment you can't scratch it?"

Hyai's laughter filled the kitchen. She had accepted his help to finish the Supper dishes at the Kindled Spirit. Both of his hands were covered in suds.  "Where's the itch hun?"

Nix grinned at the Innkeeper.  "Left cheek, beneath my eye."  

Hyai dried her hands and scratch the spot he mentioned.  "Good?"  

Nix nodded and went back to scrubbing pans.  "Like I was saying, it seems we are going to take a trip to the far south of Oasis, into Ain'Dhassi territory."

They had been discussing his conversation with Esta.  When she finally opened up, she told him about a lost shipyard far to the south.  

Hyai wrinkled her nose slightly.  "Polar Icecaps?  No thanks, Cyphix was cold enough."

"Fraid so.  Semmi is getting permission from Morai Sai Teli for us to enter their lands."  

She glanced at that door and then leaned against him. "Just make sure you come back safe!"

"We'll leave tomorrow. I'm thinking two days tops."

Nicholas Phire was sentenced to life in prison without any possibility of parole.  Because of the mercy of a lonely prison guard, a new world is presented to him. When we got back after the school trip, Ms Williams summoned the entire grade to the hall to preach about the importance of our senior years. Many of the monotonous classes such as music (for me anyways), we were finally allowed to drop. She droned on about our weekly test scores that would be finally accounted for, and how each of those scores would play a role in determining our future careers. She explained that in the next four years we would be too focused on our studies to play around anymore. After all we were on our way to becoming adults. 

The way she phrased that word was strange. With pride, almost as it was a privilege, as if it were a status only the elites of society could achieve. 

"When is this going to end? I want to play soccer." Finn muttered impatiently, sticking his tongue out, while making a funny face.

"Shhh!" I whispered back to him. I was terrified of Ms Williams, ever since our first meeting, and even now those eagle eyes of hers continued to haunt me in my nightmares. 

After assembly ended we headed back to class. For Kim, Finn, Darren and I, it was health and personal development classes. In other words, the Health Inspection. 

These classes began the moment we entered the 8th grade, in other words senior school. To be fair, for the most part these classes were tolerable, as we spend most of our time, floating in a capsule of mysterious liquid, called a "Bubble". We simply climbed into the machine, somehow it would scan our physical body, combine the information it was receiving with the statistics of the institutional database, and calculate a score out of 100. 

Usually each session of health and personal development was divided into two segments. Physical and personal. Our teacher, Mr Thompson preferred the physical part, because it didn't require any effort on his end, so we always began our two hour sessions with a dive into the "Bubble". 

As I slowly began undressing and preparing my school issued swimsuit, I stared at the bruises on my knees fresh from my fall down the English block stairs, and winced.

Kim noticed my dismayed expression as she walked up to me and placed her hand on my back. 

"I don't think it'll affect your score much." She reassured me.

"I hope so, I don't want my scores going down because of a stupid accident. I have a reputation to uphold."

"Hey." Kim wrapped her arm around my shoulders and proceeded to tease me. "Since when did this turn into a bragging session, honour student?" She giggled.

"What can I say? Can't deny that it feels good to be the top student for once." 

"You... you little rascal!" Kim unwrapped her arms around my shoulders and proceed to tickle me.

"Oi, cut... cut it out..." My laughter was so loud that the entirety of the female change room could hear me. 

Slightly embarrassed, I bowed my head as I walked out. Smirking, Kim whispered quietly in my ear. "That's what you get, you little show off."

I could feel the blood rushing to my face, she was so close to me, her face a few centimetres away, lips hovering directly above my lips and her soft white breasts pressed up against mine. Would it feel like this, our faces and bodies pressed so close to each other during sex? Could girls even have sex with each other?

No, I forced myself to snap out of it. Those thoughts were wrong. Absolutely disgusting. I was disappointed in myself for having such repulsive fantasies.

As I climbed into my Bubble, I could hear the gasping sounds that many of the boys made, when they saw Kim in her swimsuit. Even though they saw her dressed in this manner every week, it was simply impossible to get over her dazzling beauty. I could also feel the ice cold glare of Finn, in a (futile) attempt at trying to defend his sister from these starving wolves. Somehow I felt guilty too. I was aware that I was one of these dangerous wolves, a predator, violating Kim.

I shut the smooth, colourless lid of the Bubble, as I let myself sink into the murky depths of the warm liquid inside. A directional voice instructed me, throughout the entire process.

"Miss Layla White, my name is AIIB (Artificial Intelligence Inspection Bot), I would like to conduct a few inspections on you, would that be possible?"

"Yes."

"Ok. Can you cover yourself in this liquid? With this I can scan your body thoroughly for any external, internal injuries, harmful bacteria and viruses."

"Yes." I allow myself to sink deeper into the tub of the murky fluid. 

"Inspection complete. Please relax, and wait until the session is over."

"Ok."

Routinely during these precise moments of every inspection, I would suddenly be hit with a wave of drowsiness and fall asleep, only to wake up to the sound of my lid opening and the hairy face of Mr Thompson, staring down upon me, yelling at me (and some other kids after me), spit flying onto my face, to wake up, so we could begin the second half of the lesson. Of course the same happened on this occasion as well. 

I rose out of the hollow shell that enclosed me and proceeded towards the change rooms to get showered. When I was fully showered and dressed, Kim and I, returned to the classroom. On the interactive white board were the list of all the names in our class, with their scores and ranks in the column behind. As per usual I was not astonished to find the rank behind my name as 1, nor my score, being an entire 10 points ahead of the second place student. 94, those small digits read. 

"See I told you that my score would drop". I mumbled to Kim.

"Well, aren't you sorry for getting an entire 14 points higher than me?" She bantered playfully.

"Maybe I was blessed with good genetics? But I still got worse." I continued our banter as cheerfully as I could, although I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Kim seemed to notice my dissatisfaction and tried to lighten the mood. 

"Hey, maybe those 2 marks of yours have gone to me? I mean I suddenly improved out of nowhere, so maybe you gave them to me?" She grinned at me.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her cute remark. She was far too good for me.

I stared at the board for a while longer comparing everyone else's scores. Bella had scored a 20, the lowest score in our class, Darren, a 79 and Finn an 82. Well Finn was going to be happy because his score had also gone up by two points, and Darren even more so as his went up by 5 entire points. 

Kim's hand wrapped around mine, as she slowly guided us to two empty seats, to wait for the rest of the class. A warm feeling was growing in my chest, I wanted to nurture it and protect it forever. I wanted to make it mine and mine alone.

Does Kim also feel the same way? Of course not. 

Mr Thompson's wrinkly hands made a muffled sound as he clapped them together to signal the beginning of his class. His modulated voice echoed smoothly around the room.

"As you all know, this is your first year in senior school. You will be busy studying and have less freedom. During these 4 years, I have no doubt that you would all have become completely different people. So today I want you to write a letter to your future selves, as a type of time capsule, to remember the time you were 14."

"That's kinda lame." Finn protested.

"Indeed it's lame but it's your task, not mine." Mr Thompson fired back. "So you have to do it, not me."

Our classed cheered at his witty retort as Finn quiety grumbled to himself.

The moment my pen and paper made contact my mind blanked out. I had no idea what to write and I felt like a complete idiot sitting next to the furiously inking Kim. What did I want to tell myself in 4 years? After 10 minutes of procrastination, I resolved myself to write something, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't come up with anything worthwhile.

Dear Layla of the future,

The year is 2199. You are 18. How are you? Are you doing okay, getting along with your friends? What about Kim? I really don't know what to write, so all I'm going to say is: stay happy Future Layla.

Why was I so useless, when it came to the important things in life. I could think of a thousand witty retorts for Darren, annoy Finn as much as he annoyed me, tease Hannah about her crushes and yet I couldn't think of anything meaningful to say to myself. In an attempt to distract myself from the tears of frustration that welled up in my eyes, I glanced over to Kim's paper. Though my blurred lens, I couldn't get a clear glance of what she wrote, all I could see were chunks and chunks of large paragraphs. Of probably meaningful things. Unlike my empty letter. 

As autumn's spell began to wear off, allowing winter to take over, and as the mahogany leaves of the maple tree, fell to the ground with a delicate crunch, followed by suddenly indigo dusks, filled with smoke, leftover from our heating system, Kim became more reserved, and started on long walks in the woods of our school, leading to nowhere. Then spring, with the welcoming of thousands of tiny forget-me-nots in the fields, and summer with a choir of cicadas, and a clear blue sky, touching the oceans, merging the two masses. 

Two years had passed in a flash. I was 16. It was 2197, a year that would change the course of my life forever.

Everyday, as Layla heads home from her office, the artificial sky above her head reminds her of her school days. For some reason a girl called Kim is present in those memories. The strange thing is that Layla cannot even recall Kim's face, and yet what is this painful feeling that fills Layla's chest every time she is reminded of Kim?

Chen Mu admired Qiu Shanyu's insight and guts, as he nodded and admitted, "That's right."
"The five of you attacking the Big Bad Wolves, are you out of your mind!" Qiu Shanyu continued coldly, "Although Wei-ah is powerful, but the rest of you are so much more inferior to their strength."
"You have a point." Chen Mu did not deny it, but nodded in agreement.
Qiu Shanyu's eyes flashed with a trace of anger, "No one will stop you if you want to dig your own grave, but please do so after you find the owner of the Green Mark, thank you very much!"
"How important is the owner of the Green Mark to you?" Chen Mu asked with his head tilted.
"That's none of your business!" QiuShan-yu's replied impolitely as she raised her eyebrows.
"Then forget about it," Chen Mu said indifferently as he turned around and walked towards his room.
Qiu Shanyu opened her mouth to ask, but hesitated. As Chen Mu had reached the door, she couldn't help asking coldly, "What's the outcome of your sneak attack?"
"Oh, they're all dead."
Chen Mu did not look back. He left her with his words and went into the room to rest.
Qiu Shanyu sat down right where she was with her mouth wide open as her eyes lingered on the closed door of Chen Mu's room. After a few minutes, her face was still aghast as she murmured, "No way! Impossible! How could it be...
True! How was that possible?
She was not a woman who knew nothing. On the contrary, as the most outstanding figure of the young generation of Faya, there was a lot of weight on her shoulders since childhood. "Who did this?" Tai-shu Yong swallowed with difficulty. He already knew the answer to that question, but the answer seemed so shocking that he dared not clarify it.
"There were a few of us." Chen Mu answered succinctly.
Tai-shu Yong tried to calm himself down, but his trembling body was not helping. His face turned aghast as he looked at Chen Mu in horror, as if he was looking right at a monster.
There was a long silence before he gradually calmed down. He felt that his throat was dry, but he couldn't care less about drinking any water. He stared the masked White Commander in the eye and asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"Get this video card out into the public." Chen Mu's voice was very flat, as if he was just giving a very simple order.
Tai-shu Yong's cheeks trembled, his face scrunched, as he let out a growl full of anger, "Are you out of your mind? This will destroy the Tai-shu family! The Comprehensive Federation Academy will not forgive us for this!"
Chen Mu shook his head, "We have no way out. From the beginning, we stood opposite to the Comprehensive Federation Academy." His face was still as calm as ever, and there were no traces of stammer in his voice. "Tai-shu family belongs to one of the major leagues in Heavenly Drum Village District. Also, it stood out more, which was not a bad thing for the family. I think Moon Frost Island will also welcome the thought of choosing the Tai-shu family."
Tai-shu Yong's face was unreadable. Chen Mu was not wrong.
"With power, Tai-shu family will not be so vulnerable. Moreover, this is the Heavenly Drum Village District, which was a continent of Moon Frost Island.

After comforting the elderly mother for a while, Wu Qianyu moved on to another woman who had lost her husband, then onto another who lost a young child. So on... and so on...
She might have stayed there the rest of the day but Chen Wentian finally dragged her away. As they flew away, the villagers all bowed in reverence. Many were deeply touched by Wu Qianyu's compassion even if they didn't have a chance say it.
Chen Wentian held Wu Qianyu as he wiped her tears away. She had also cried a great deal along with the villagers.
"Qianyu, look at you... you don't have to do this you know?"
She nodded, "I know, I know... but I don't know... I have this feeling that I should."
He gave her a peck on the cheek, "Well, there's still time until sunset, want to slay some more monsters?"
"Yes!"
Chen Wentian drew out a small crystal. It was a special messaging crystal that could transmit a few words over long distances. It was incredibly expensive and only immortals overseeing the monster fighting efforts were given one.
He stared at it for a second. "Wolves, sector thirty-two. Let's go!"
They flew off towards the northeast. After flying for close to an hour, they saw a town come into view. It was nestled within a valley, surrounded by foggy snowcapped mountains. The town was small, with only a few thousand people, and it was currently under siege by a horde of giant dire wolves.
Giant dire wolves had pitch black fur and ash black claws. They were much larger than normal wolves and incredibly intelligent. They usually stayed within their own territory but if they were forced out by a more power beast, they would have to conquer a new area to settle down. Looked like this pack was doing just that, trying to wipe out the humans that stood against it.
The town was barely withstanding the assault. The walls and gate still held but the intelligent beasts were using their numbers to their advantage. The wolves used a large number of muscular wolves to continually ram against the wooden gates which would eventually break apart. They also formed a wolf pyramid along the walls to leap over one by one. The ones that leaped over caused scores of casualties within a whirlwind of blood, guts, and shattered bones before being cut down by swords and spears.
"Master, quick!"
Chen Wentian zoomed down at the top speed and dropped Wu Qianyu onto the town walls. Her purple sword immediately shot forth and cleared all the wolves from walls. The defenders all stared at their beautiful savior and cheered. She didn't stop and instead leaped off the wall to meet the wolves directly.
The giant dire wolves ramming against the gate were as tall as horses but twice as wide. Their jaws could snap a person in half. They were slightly weaker than the Jueyuan demon monkeys but might be even more intelligent. They also liked to attack in groups.
"Awooooo!!"
The wolves were scared by the spiritual pressure of Chen Wentian but they became ferocious again when they saw only Wu Qianyu was in front of them. They howled at her and snapped their jaws.
"Aruuu!"
A commanding howl sounded and the massive wolves launched themselves at her. She reacted in kind and her Purple Jade Sword drew a deadly painting of blood in the air.
Splat!
All ten or so wolves that charged forward were slaughtered without mercy.
More wolves charged in without regard for their fallen comrades, commanded by their leader. However, they stood absolutely no chance against Wu Qianyu. The dead bodies started to piled up until she stood on top of several hundred wolf corpses. The beasts finally were no longer as zealous as before as they started look at each other and backing away in fear.
"Awoo!"
A sharp howl came out from the rear of the horde and all the wolves turned tail and ran. As they retreated, they spread out into small packs, making chasing difficult. So intelligent! Looked like it wasn't their first time facing an unstoppable opponent.
"Qianyu! Go after the leader!"
"Yes, master!" She took off after the large alpha wolf she had spotted in the rear.
The chase ended up lasting a long time. The alpha wolf was very strong, at the 7th Level of the Spirit Initiate Realm, and very fast. It commanded its pack to continuously attack her and delay her advance. By the time she caught up with it, they had arrived at a cliff face and a wolf den was visible inside an open-mouthed cave.
The powerful dire wolf ran no more. It turned and furiously snarled at Wu Qianyu. It couldn't shake her so the only option was to fight to the death. A pack of female wolves in the den also charged forward to support the alpha wolf, including a large alpha female, as they made their last stand.
The dire wolves' spiritual energy wrapped around them, sharpening their claws and fangs. They charged forward, swiping at her and snapping their jaws. The wolves in the den were all at the Spirit Initiate Realm and facing so many alone might be tough for any of the other participants in the monster hunting competition. However, Wu Qianyu was already an expert in such battles.
"That's more like it!" Wu Qianyu shouted as she charged towards the wolves.
Her blade clashed against the claws of the beasts. Blood flew and so did severed limbs. She was unstoppable but they were desperate and relentless. The wolves did not give up even as they were slain one by one. After a long melee, all the wolves except one were slain. It was a tough fight and she suffered several bloody wounds.
The last wolf, the injured alpha female, looked at the dead wolves and howled in sorrow. It turned around and retreated. Wu Qianyu chased after it and cut it down as it entered the cave den. The female wolf grunted in pain as it tumbled to the ground. The deep slash across its back was enough for it to bleed out.
Wu Qianyu stared impassively at it until she met its eyes. Those large watery eyes looked back at her and she felt a mysterious connection instantly form. She continued to stare as the wolf's pain and sorrow flow into her. She was shocked. What she assumed was a beast acting on instinct to hunt and kill instead had such intelligence and capacity for emotion.
The alpha female crawled over to a bed made of beast hide where there was a large number of small black furballs. Wu Qianyu realized with a jolt... they were its babies... no, her babies... The mother wolf licked her babies that were blind and helpless. She growled softly in pain, or was it heartbreak?
Wu Qianyu stood in silence as she watched. It was like she could feel the emotion that were so human-like. Just a few hours ago, she had shared the pain and suffering of the villagers that had suffered a tragedy, cried among mothers, fathers, husbands, and daughters. Yet now she was here, causing the same exact pain to these intelligent beings. She didn't think much about being able to empathize with other people, but with a beast was completely out of her expectations. Wasn't this an ironic twist of fate?
The female wolf knew death was approaching. With her last bit of strength, she turned her head and looked at Wu Qianyu again. Those eyes were no longer resentful but silently pleading for mercy.
Wu Qianyu felt her heart stir. She knelt beside the wolf and stroked her. "I'm sorry... I'll take care of your babies, I promise."
The wolf's tense body seemed to relax as if understanding those words. The wolf's breath became ragged and it finally passed away. Wu Qianyu stayed beside the wolf for a long time, as if trying to atone for her actions. She was still like that when Chen Wentian found her.
"Hey, time to go. What are you doing?" He looked around and saw the sleeping little fur babies. "Oh, can't bear to kill the them? I'll do it."
Chen Wentian was about to reach over but Wu Qianyu stood and block him. "Master! No!"
"What?"
"Don't kill them. I made a promise..." Wu Qianyu said gloomily.
"...what?" He was very confused.
"I made a promise with the mother wolf." She pointed to the dead wolf beside her.
"This is a monster invasion. We're wiping out beasts and demons that are killing humans, not collecting pets."
"I know that! I don't know! It's hard to explain!" Wu Qianyu cried in frustration.
She didn't know how put what she had experienced into words. The pain was so raw and vivid in her mind. Yet it also made her sound crazy.
"Please?" She begged.
"Fine, let's talk about this later tonight." Chen Wentian bagged the baby dire wolves, all ten in total, before grabbing her and flying off into the setting sun.

Despite knowing the Sea Wolves Pirates were so terrifying, Su Yu had still chosen that option! Asides from a lunatic, no one else would do so!
However, deep down in his heart, Wu Pangyun was angry and ashamed. Su Yu's fearlessness had contrasted against his own cowardice!
Liu Guang gritted his teeth and stared at Su Yu. He decided Su Yu was an eyesore!
For the first time, Princess Yun Yan was visibly moved. She could not understand what, to Su Yu, could be considered more precious than his own life for him to proceed without any hesitation.
Alternatively, Master Li, who understood Su Yu's intentions, trembled. His old eyes teared up, "Li Guang! To have such a disciple—what more could you have asked for?"
To repay a kindness, to kill his enemies with his own hands, to hold the promise he made; Su Yu would do whatever it would take!
Despite knowing he would die, Su Yu still wanted to battle to his death!
Xi Ruolan's slender body slightly trembled; that oath of anger and grief resounded in her ears vividly.
That determination that would not bend to a thousand foes. That undying killing intent, combined with Su Yu's determination to embrace a battle to the death, made Xi Ruolan Shudder in fear for the first time.
A sliver of fright and shock spread through her heart. She had an illusion that, perhaps one day, she would die in Su Yu's hands.
"Have the remaining people finished contemplating? Accept the test, or be disqualified." Xi Ruolan restrained her inner impatience and anger.
Several elders flew forth and brought their clan descendants back. Their fury was difficult to quell, "We only wish for our clan descendants to enter the faction and further their training, not for them seek their deaths! For Liuxian faction to conduct such a bizarre test, are you not afraid of angering the Hundred Vassal Clans?"
"You may bring them back, but they will lose their qualification to participate in the entrance exam forever," Xi Ruolan replied faintly.
"You all are too much!" The elders present were unable to suppress their anger. Did that not mean that, either they accept the test and die, or live on, rejected by the faction for the rest of their lives?
Wu Pangyun, Liu Guang, and Princess Yun Yan's faces turned stern as their hearts shuddered.
"I'll give you all one last chance to decide. Accept the test, or, be rejected by the faction forever," Xi Ruolan said calmly.
The Hundred Vassal Clans were extremely angry. Such a test was too bloody and cruel!
What was actually going on in this year's recruitment exam? Why was it so bizarre?
The crowd hesitated for a while, most of the elders gave the right to decide to the juniors. To take the risk, or be ordinary for the rest of their lives—they would have to make the decision themselves.
The majority of the juniors weighed both options and decided on the latter.
It was apparent that the mission had no chance of survival. Yet, half of the people, including the Holy Kings and Half Holy Kings, decided to try.

Xi Ruolan nodded her head, "Very good. Now, I will announce to the twenty-five of you, the rules and the prizes.
"The test this time is to eliminate the pirates. Killing one Half Holy King will net you one point! Killing a First Level Lower Tier Holy King will net you ten points! Killing an Upper Tier will net you twenty points! Killing a Peak Tier will net you thirty points. Lastly, should you be able to kill the pirate chief, a Second Level Lower Tier Holy King, you will get fifty points!" Xi Ruolan continued, "The Sea Wolves Pirates are very organized and strict. Each of their members will definitely carry a jade token around with them. After you kill them, retrieve the jade tokens and bring them back. Your scores will then be tabulated accordingly."
Princess Yun Yan's eyebrows slightly wrinkled, "Clan Master Xi, what are the points used for?"
"That is what I was about to say. It will decide the prizes of this round. Those who obtain more than one hundred points receive the following prizes. Firstly, a medium grade marrow cleansing elixir. Secondly, they may receive a day of personal guidance from one of the elders of the faction. Thirdly, they will become a disciple of the Inner Sanctum!"
The facial expressions of the elders suddenly changed, "What? The prizes are that incredible?"
One medium grade marrow cleansing elixir was equivalent to one hundred low grade marrow cleansing elixirs. It was not something that the Hundred Vassal Clans could produce.

Among the Hundred Vassal Clans, every five years, more than one thousand disciples would attempt the entrance exam. Yet, no more than three were able to make it every time!
There was not even one who had made it into the Inner Sanctum!
The difference between the Inner and Outer Sanctum of the Liuxian Faction was that the Outer Sanctum disciples would have to undertake all the chores of the factions, and would have to serve the disciples of the Inner Sanctum. Moreover, the number of resources they received was extremely minimal. It was hard for them to make a name for themselves, and Level Two Holy King was usually the limit of their cultivation.
The Li family was ranked thirtieth, but only Li Guang had barely scraped into the Inner Sanctum.
Yet now, with just one test, a person could enter the Inner Sanctum?

Hearing Su Yu, the lady slightly raised her head.
Su Yu was momentarily shocked!
The lady's figure was extremely beautiful, but her face was extremely disfigured!
Her face looked like it had been attacked by a vicious poison, which had completely destroyed her looks. Her face was completely charred and hideously scary.
Had Su Yu not possess extraordinary willpower, he would have let out a shriek of shock!
Auch a face was not much different from ghosts and monsters. Had it been at night, it could definitely scare a person to death!
