Quidditch season was in full swing, and Alana found herself dealing with overly enthusiastic Slytherins for the first time in her life. 
 
"...And then he feinted left and caught the snitch!"
"Did you see the look on her face? She…"
"...Alana, are you listening?"
 
The girl's head snapped up from where she had been drifting off and beamed at Lucian Bole and his official wing-man, Peregrine Derrick. Dear Merlin, they were still talking.
"She caught the snitch," She replied half-heartedly. "Weren't you celebrating all last week because of it?" Her hand waved towards Lucian dismissively. Why she endured this torture, she had no idea. 
 
"Obviously, but the look on Kate's face is one I want to be framed." Peregrine cut in.
 
"Ask Warren," She suggested. "Even if he's in Gryffindor, he would probably sell the picture for the right amount." She thought of the lethargic boy who had been roped into taking pictures of every match and putting them on the Gryffindor dorm board. He'd been trying to escape the job for the past year and would probably get a kick out of selling the pictures. Peregrine perked up at the suggestion and nudged Lucian with a smile. Both boys giggled like a pair of gossiping women before batting their eyelashes at Alana.
 
"I think we'll head over now." 
"We'll need to catch him before someone else has the same idea" Both boys bid their farewells before dashing out of the Great Hall. 
 
The young witch they had left behind stretched her limbs which had grown stiff from disuse over the course of the conversation. It was with no small relief that she exited the building and began the trek to exit the castle walls. Spring had just arrived at the castle, and the gardens were slowly regaining the life they had lost. The young girl relaxed her muscles as she padded through the fringes of the forest. Here and there, she could spy stone formations that were no doubt built for rituals when they were still practised. Lichen lined the ancient structures, and she allowed her fingertips to trace whichever ones she happened to pass. It was easy to forget how ancient Hogwarts was with the lack of arcane magics taught. 
 
She was so utterly enraptured in the ruins that she almost missed the brown, leather bag leaning against one of the pillars. She picked up the pack and examined it curiously. Sure enough, there was a name carved into the underside of the leather. Lobosca. She ran a finger over the name and considered it carefully. She had no idea who it was and was rather reluctant to move the pack in case its owner would return for it. She tapped her chin thoughtfully until she heard the sound of rustling leaves. A white-haired witch stumbled out of the forest and into the clearing she stood in. Blue eyes flickered to her figure and then to the pack in her arms. Alana quirked an eyebrow before holding the bag out for the girl.
 
"Thanks," The witch fumbled. She reached for the bag with one hand while the other nervously clutched the moon pendant hanging around her neck. "I didn't think anyone else came around here. I'm Chiara by the way." The girl offered an innocent smile that softened her already gentle features further. Alana offered her own smile and shook the girl's offered hand. Chiara held the bag to her chest and dipped her head in thanks a second time. 
 
"Alana. It's nice to meet you, Chiara." 
"You as well. Um… I have to go, but I guess I'll see you around then. Bye." The girl slung her bag over her shoulder awkwardly as she rushed towards the castle. Alana followed the girl with her gaze before returning to her walk. It was some days later that she learnt the girl was a seventh year Hufflepuff. 
 
1991 April
 
Alana twisted her growing hair into a bun before heading down to the common room. Leoen sat in his usual spot with a chessboard set before him. After a heated game, both parted to follow their usual morning routine. Alana took to the corridors with the intention of slipping a charms book out of the library before the day began. The stone hallways were as cold as they were silent with the faint hum of magic emanating from them. She hummed softly under her breath as she took to the rotating stairs. A few of the portraits greeted her as she made her journey. Magical portraits were curious things. They were mental imprints of magicals taken by the painter. She had done some research on magical painters as part of a charms assignment, and the process was absolutely fascinating. The level of control and skill required to animate the most simple of paintings was mind-blowing, yet Hogwarts hung hundreds on its walls. Most were second-rate donations by old families, but a few were of high enough quality to be considered a flaunting of wealth to donate. The Renaissance had seen hundreds of them donated in what had become known as the Paint Wars. 
 
"What in Merlin's name happened to you!" The shout and sound of falling books shattered Alana's peaceful reverie, and she glanced, annoyed in the direction it had come from. 
"I tripped." 
"On air?!"
 
The young witch found the perpetrators in the library. A fair, pink-haired witch sat on the ground rubbing circles on her arm. Her facial expression was one of annoyance and pain as she glared at the witch across from her. Alana gave the two seventh years a quick assessment as she entered the room. Chiara Lobosca turned her head away from her clumsy friend and spied Alana's smaller form. 
 
"Oh! Good morning, Alana." She greeted the younger witch. The pale pinkette glanced at the other occupant of the room questioningly while Alana gave Chiara small, polite wave.
 
"Who's that?" The other seventh year directed suspicious eyes to the honey-eyed witch.
 
"She's a third-year that I know. Her name's Alana," Chiara introduced the girl proudly. "Alana, this is Nymphadora Tonks." 
 
"Call me Nymphadora, and I'll kick you off the astronomy tower. It's Tonks." Alana's mouth twitched at the threat as a laugh bubbled in her throat. 
 
"I'll keep that in mind, Tonks. It's nice to see you again, Chiara." Alana gave a quick smile and readied an excuse to leave the two. She was still gathering her thoughts when she noticed a particular book lying on the floor. She knelt to pick up the title.
 
"Where one of you using this?" She asked. It was the exact book she was looking for. 
 
"I was returning it actually," Tonks wrinkled her nose. "It's a really boring read. Just so you know. Jackson Revel's edition is way more interesting." 
 
Alana graced the girl with a genuine smile having read the book she spoke of already. It focused more on practical wand work than theory which was why she had wanted another book to reference. There were a few more books scattered across the floor, and she gingerly picked up a few. Catching on, Chiara helped grab the rest while Tonks attempted to right herself. 
 
"Did you really trip on air?" Alana had to ask as she held the pile to the girl. Tonks gave her a traumatised stare. 
 
"I swear, there's a diety up there laughing his arse off every time I trip. The air is conspiring against me," She whispered with a shiver. Alana didn't bother hiding her amusement.
 
"I suppose it's a good thing your friend is so interested in healing," She commented. She nodded towards the stack of healing books perched precariously on a table behind Chiara and said witch blushed heavily. 
 
"I want to become a healer," She explained. Her fingers were wrapped around her moonstone pendant out of habit. 
 
"Do you know any good starter books on healing? I'm a bit prone to injury myself," Alana asked innocently. Prone was hardly the right word when injury was part of her job description. Chiara lit up with delight, and she couldn't help but think the witch had the appearance of a china doll when she wasn't nervous. She knew several rogues who would die to have such a cute nurse working on them. She cackled at the mental image.

In the dark and cold night of France there was a girl destined to be born in the night of 16 October in a full blood moon .A prophecy one said that this girl will become the salvation of the magic world and will resurrect the death.However the girl's parents died killed by some witch After several years living with her  cruel and malicious aunt , little did she know that this 16th October, her life will drastically change.The girl have become a teen and  her name is Delphine.She wake up to the sunlight streaming  in her windows.Her room was bright but cold  and the October morning air contained a windy chill that shook the windows. She would have given anything to stay beneath her warm covers and hide from the day, but she knew that wasn't an option.Instead she got up, wrapped herself in her blue terrycloth bathrobe, and made her way outside to fetch the newspaper.
   There was no paper on the front porch, but Delphine did find Lucien, her boyfriend, curled up beneath his jacket, asleep on the porch swing.She watched him for a moment.How peaceful he looked, but he couldn't be comfortable.His long legs and arms were pretzeled into the swing, hanging halfway off.He'd probably been there all night.
   This boy really loves me,Delphine thought to herself , looking  down on his beautifully sculpted body , crunched as it was within the confines of the swing.He probably loves me too much.
She reached out and grazed his cheekbone with her finger tips.
He smiled sleepily at her, stretching 
"What In the world are you doing out here,"she asked
Lucien  quickly took inventory of his surroundings and rubbed the back of his sore neck."protecting you."
"From who?"Delphine  wondered.Lucien  blurted out"witch hunters"Cassie wondered why would she needed to be protected from witch hunters while she is not a witch.Lucien then suddenly look serious and confessed to Delphine that he is a witch of water while Delphine is the witch of moon.Delphine struck awe not wanting to believe it , shove Lucien away but Lucien  give her proof for example a letter from her parents and that her parents  are actually witches, a sleek shadow  book belong to her mother, and a chalcedony quartz crystal rose necklace for protection.Finally Delphine started to accept her true self.
Lucien said that they both have to attend  a magic school in London called Arcane Academy so they can train their magic. 
Delphine took his face in to her hands"what am I going to do to without you?"She kissed his chapped lips slowly and warmly
   Lucien kissed her back passionately.He wrapped his strong  arms around her and pulled her in close.She could smell the oceans on his clothes and on the creases of his neck.She kissed him there and expected to taste salt, but instead it tasted fresh and cold like ice.
   The next day, they went to Beauvais-Tillé Airport(one of the international airport in France),and  after some 2 hours of waiting in the plane.They finally arrived to London City Airport.Lucien then saw 3 people  holding  a banner with their names on it.Lucien and Delphine approach the woman and asked her name.Her name is Adelaide, she has a beautiful long and lustrous hair as black as charcoal.Lucien asked where is Agathe (Lucien's friend),but nobody seemed to know.
   Adelaide had  found a protective spell in her Book of Shadows, . and she wanted to cast it upon Lucien and Delphine and the others  soon as possible.But they'd been waiting at the airport for over an hour since the driver haven't came yet.
"Archer(the driver)has been late to every single pick ups in the airport,"Adelaide said.This is unacceptable. Agathe , will you call him again?
"He's not answering,"Agathe said 
"He's been totally irresponsible lately."
After waiting for some several hours ,Archer finally arrives with a black limo gilded with gold.They went into the car and on their way to the harbor , magnificent view always come to them whether it's the buildings, scenery or the nature.Delphine was glad to be with Lucien in London rather than in France alone.She felt safe there among the long  stretch of roads, the steady repetition of the chilly wind, and the vast limitless sky.She wanted to enjoy every last second they had before tourist season littered the roads with strangers.After a while lost in her thoughts, they finally arrive to Chelsea Harbor Pier(ferry terminal in London), a lot of young people gather there to wait for a magnifique cruise which help them have access to go to Arcane Academy.Then a girl appeared to them rushing in a rapid speed"Am I late,"she said "sorry."
  "Where have you been?"Adelaide asked 
  "Trust me you couldn't handle it."Adelaide ignored her comment."We need to begin the protection spell before the sun starts to set."
     Delphine tried to assume the role of this girl as the group went to a beach near the harbor ,arranged themselves into a wide circle formation.Adelaide kneeled in front of a stone kettle, mixing together a dark and oily concoction.
    "In this cauldron is salt water from the ocean mixed with blueberry oil and eucalyptus,"she said.Then she looked  up at Delphine and Lucien."Will the two of you, together , use the dagger to draw our circle around me?"
   Lucien  unsheathes the silver dagger, which had been concealed  beneath his black skinny jeans.His eyes narrowed when he had a sharp object in his grasp.
 "Give me your hand,"he said to Delphine.He guided Delphine's thin fingers around the dagger's pearl  handle and envelopes them with her own.Together as one, they drew the circle in the sand

The next day after running back from the forest or you can say our playing ground of supernatural (i sleep and woke up in my human self 🤗that's It, I do nothing else). I think I mention witch and wizard only but I will tell you there's more than that. I saw lots of students of my type. needless to say, they look like humans but none of them are ordinary. they can turn to tiger, (tribes call half-blood of powerful spirit and the half-blood of animals) let me tell you they are not werewolves. I didn't hear about werewolves and vampires tribes yet, because of my negligent in other things that I am so fucking lazy just like I am in my human realm 😁. let me tell ya there another tripe call invisible (because they come from another realm where no one can go there place, only the people who born through from there or if they want to take someone else with them ( they can go) 🥺 tough right! ). there are many more which I stop making track of cause my head hurt if I keep continuing. 

so on my first day of the class was engaging, the feeling of in another whole new place is so fresh and lively. the wind keeps pushing me to know about myself more and there place is exciting. I can feel the atmosphere is so welcoming to me. The institute was made nearly middle of the forest (isolated, yet 💘 charming vibe, very smart kind of atmosphere, lots of trees around, benches and park, the things that make more beautiful is that it was on the fall 🍁 season). The gentle wind tickling my hair and I feel the trees joining to smile and the sunrise was enjoying my company. just then I enter the entrance hall room, all the students look at me with admiration and respect. The whole school seems to know me but I really don't know anyone. The unknown boy talks to me " I hope you are doing fine?"  smile back at me. I replied " doing fine geob!" then we pass each other ( yes I don't know how I know his name)😶. Two girls 👯waiting to greet me with an honest smile 🙂I smile them back. Everyone seems to give me space for the walkthrough. I didn't know I was that strong there (my eyes can tell anything and everything, it can feel anything just like the part of my body! too real to be the truth) a few moments and I arrive at my class, everyone was reciting some phrases from their book. I knew nothing but recite the phrase without fucking looking at my book and the spell work (i got goosebumps of myself) 🥶. The spell of casting spiritual summoning (good spirit honey not the bad one). Then I show him again the silky hair 😶dumbfounded, found out his hair keeps changing from white to black. His red Crystal eye's when his hair in white ( totally different fucking person in one man ). I am so amazed I look away soon as I could ( cause I feel he distracting me even if he's not). turning his eyes to blue he left after looking at me. the sweet spirit will stay until the next Halloween 🎃day.. they are an intern spirit to guide us from right to wrong. oh well, forgot to tell whichever tribes it is thou should learn a skill (magic). some of the tribes are not famous to be named and few tribes are rich in the historical era till now. (unlike me background unknown, powers unknown, my parents are not even magical involve but I am here 🤗😁noob as I can be). I got my room there cozy but large. I feel passionate to live there but I can't die in the human world too. seems like it's going to be a long journey and felt asleep with windows open.  💓

just then I woke up in my human self (powerless) but doing fine 😆searching magic phrase to remember what I cast a spell to summon a spirit. 🤣it was in vain. of course, right if I remember they cast a spell to make me forget everything and anything including my magic when I am in the human realm. so sad this bitch is going to the college and gave a practical exam 💯( taken botany major) I live in a private hostel taking graduation college a little far from my institute ( inside the city) my home town is a bit far from here needs to take the train for 3 hours to arrive.  The night arrives soon I saw the moon is in orange tonight what's fishy things is going to happen again while thinking I click the picture with my phone. eat my dinner and slept just found myself woke up in the room of mine window open my eyes turn red, sense something is coming for me the day we ran back from that forest something does follows us back without our consent we were not alone. scared and strong at the same time my aura turning wild  (orange moon the same called blood moon) I murmur myself  "THE HUNTING SEASON OF A BEAST TO KILL THE INNOCENT, " it's arrived (everyone is in danger)!

Penny frowned, her forehead creased as she heard this. Cat being torn and buried didn't sound like a normal cremation but a ritual that she had gone through in the book of Lady Isabelle. It was forbidden tapping magic but to do that one had to be a witch. As time passed by, Penny only found things here to be distorted. 
The company that she had here was decent but the stories that she heard, everything felt to be suspicious. 
And then came Lady Helen with her sweet face and her brother escorting her. They walked to where Penelope stood, joining the party with extra women and men who were talking about their mansions and then the servants. 
"I cannot wait for Winter to pass by quickly. Don't you think this season has prolonged longer than necessary," spoke one of the women in the crowd who was the neighbor of Mrs. Kieth.
"My plants are all dead and I had to get the servants to remove it not once but twice."
"Twice?" Mrs. Keith asked. 
The woman nodded her head, pulling the fur that had adorned over her hand closer to her, "The maids never do as they are told. It is so difficult to have them listen to what we say."
"You should get them fired. Servants like that never learn even after years," an elderly man said who hadn't uttered a word since he had joined the little crowd of people.
"I will but getting good servants are even scarce right now," the woman continued to complain, "It's like everyone in Valeria has servants now, even the humans who once were beneath us. Hell, forbid one day it might turn out that the vampires and humans stand equal."
Though Penny was a white witch, the others perceived her to be a human and she didn't fail to notice when the woman merely glanced at her while complaining about the servants. But she didn't care about it. She had to make sure to learn the book of spells soon so that she could turn people like these into toads who would be chased by dogs and other animals. One day would be more than enough to teach them a lesson. 
Penny wasn't offended by it, she instead looked towards Damien who was still talking to a council official, and whatever he was speaking seemed to be serious right now. 
"Why don't you go get yourself a slave in the slave market?" Helen took the lead, her eyes twinkling as she proposed the idea. 
"Having a slave for a maid is not a bad idea. Only that they are expensive compared to the regular maids," Mrs. Keith chipped in her thoughts on it.
The complaining woman's shoulders slouched down, "I don't believe a slave can do all the work. I mean most of them are bought only for specific reasons. If you know what I mean."
Helen said, "They aren't used only for sexual demands. I am sure you can get many other things fulfilled by having them around. You should ask the former slave here who is amongst us. 
"Slave? We don't have any here," the woman said before following the line of sight of Helen who was eyeing Penelope, "...So the rumors are true."
Mrs. Keith, who wasn't aware of what was being spoken of,  asked, "What rumors?" Sylvia, on the other hand, appeared slightly alarmed at the steer of conversation and she couldn't stop her eyes narrowing down at Helen for exposing who formerly Penny was.
"Anyone here wants a second glass of drinks?" Sylvia asked them, and the young man named Barn caught on to her and agreed on getting drinks for everyone.
Like many others who had come here to the party today, Barn had heard many rumors but one of the rumors was about the fair lady who stood with them. But rumors were rumors which were mostly untrue and fueled by the thoughts of the people. 
"I thought people only hushed around speaking about it. Is it true, Lady Penelope," the woman smiled at her smugly, gauging her from the tip of her hair to length of her gown. Penny looked back at them feeling the eyes on her while her own eyes had been staring at Damien from afar. 
"Pardon me, I didn't hear you. Could you please repeat it again?" Penny asked the woman politely when in truth she had already heard about it. A decent woman would not have the nerve to ask but knowing the woman was someone who thrived on gossip and enjoying the pain and plight of others, she asked,
"Some of them here were whispering about you-"
"Whispering?" Penny asked, finishing her drink and picking up another one from the servant who had been stopped by Sylvia for bringing more drinks to the ladies so that they could have their mouth occupied than spew nonsense. 
The woman found nothing wrong in it, and went to continue, "They were whispering on how they saw you standing in the black market. Mr. Quinn sure tidied you up neatly. Who knew a slave could look like this. Ah- this is why your attire looks like this," she chuckled. 
"What about my attire?" Penny asked, her voice still patient.
She saw the woman's eyes look up from her waist and then her neck, "I don't think I have to speak about it. So tell me, what work did you do when you were a slave?"
Penny gave it a second as if trying hard to remember before saying, "Nothing."
Some people's eyebrows raised hearing this, even the ones who were near them. Damien was yet to hear and know on what was going on when the woman said,
"Nothing?" the woman huffed, "Must be nice to have only serve your master on the bed then. But I must say I am disappointed that he didn't make you work. It is the duty of the slave to work for the master or mistress but seeing you like this, I must say you must have turned the tables around. How horrific!" she exclaimed. 
"Let's not throw dirt on Lady Penelope here. It is something that happened in the past," Helen came back again to show her sweet and kind side like she meant no harm by her previous words that were spoken before which some had forgotten.

"Who touched you?" he asked, his eyes brooding down at her and when she didn't answer, his voice thundered in the room, "WHO?"

The butler who stood near the wall spoke shakily, "Sir, it was Mr. Reverale," Damien's face turned sour, his jaw ticking in anger he turned his face to the side where the butler stood behind.

"Bring the man here."

"N-now?" stuttered the butler. It was the time of night.

Damien who hadn't broken his eye contact with the girl in front of him, pushed his hand against the wall which now rested beside his beautiful girl's head. Turning his body, he first looked at his butler who had his head bowed. With great courage, the butler came to meet his Master's eyes, "Do you have any other better time? Or should it be after I wring your neck?" Damien asked calmly tilting his head. Not a second later, the butler ran out of the room to return back with Mr. Reverale after twenty minutes.

"Damien, are we having a late tea party?" Mr. Reverale came to greet but the master of the house had other plans. Spotting the knife that was stuck to the apple on the table, he reached for it to pull it out.

Just as Mr. Reverale went to exchange a handshake with him, Damien took hold of his hand to place it on the table. In one swift movement as if he were chopping onions, he chopped the four fingers of the man off his hand making him yelp and cry in pain.

"No one touches what is mine. I am sure this will remind you the next time you even think about touching her," sighed Damien as if he were tired of telling people to keep their dirty hands off his belongings.

Meet Damien Quinn, a pureblooded vampire who is a complete narcissist, brash with his words and stingy even though he is rich who haggled when he bought a slave from the black market.

For a time now, I've been keeping myself busy, all the while the others were doing their own businesses as well. They say that the 'Holy Congress' is coming, and so, there were a lot of preparations were being done to accommodate the visiting human rulers.

As for me, I have nothing else to do, given that Lily keeps on shooing me away whenever I try to offer my help, even to the other servants.

Maddie was once again right beside me, loitering around in the library. I don't know, but ever since we got engaged, she would always make time to come and see me. Not that I dislike it; however, I'm anxious that I might be becoming a nuisance for her daily responsibilities.

We're not married yet, and I'm starting to see myself as a distraction to her.

And why am I thinking of marriage? I mean, it's not that I'm not attracted to Her Holiness and all, but she's technically a child. She looks like my students from before—maybe in Earth's reckoning she'd be of the same age. That girl should find someone more deserving of her love, other than this broke, old guy from another world.

A book from the shelf suddenly flew out and hit my head, fair and square. I quickly turned to the Saint, who was reading a book several chairs away from me.

"…" Oh boy, she's glaring at me. Must be that she read my thoughts…

I went back to my own book. In the corner of my eyes, I saw her stand, close the book gently and float towards me.

She rarely uses her legs…and it would be bad for her health…

"Fuu…"

"!!!" I felt her softly blew unto my ears, which made me jolt.

"Ah right. You're ticklish on your ears." she took out a quill with ink and started writing on her hand. "I've got to remember that part; it's one of your weaknesses!"

"Err…Your Holi—"

"HRMPH?!" her face contorted horribly, visibly upset. Haha! She's really cute to behold!

"I-I mean, M-Maddie…" I quickly pretended to correct my mistake, and switched back to calling her by her preferred nickname.

"Yes?" Maddie also reverted back to her sweet, loving self.

Hmm…I wonder, is this the infamous 'mood-swings' of girls?

"Uh…well, don't you think we're going way too fast?"

"Hmm? What do you mean, Kuro?"

"Well, our relationship. You see, you're still way younger than me. And honestly, we just met each other one season ago." I explained to her, "Aren't you creeped out with that setting?"

"Nope." Maddie chuckled, "Why would I be scared of the man who repeatedly saved and risked his life for me and my loved ones?"

Oh…so she thinks of me in that way, huh?

But well, honestly, I saved Maddie just because I find her situation contrary to my beliefs and ideals. Suicide is wrong. Forced marriages suck. And she's my friend, so it's natural that I'm concerned about her. Even back on Earth, I treat my students in the same manner as I treat her now.

"Well, isn't that love?" Maddie, who was reading my mind, asked. Well, I'm used to that attitude of hers anyway, so I'm just letting her be. Heh, I would be very much bewildered if an hour passed without her reading my thoughts…

"Hmm…it is. But it's a friendship-type of love, not really a romantic one."

"Oh, is that so?"

"!!!"

Another book flew from the shelf and nearly missed my head as it traveled with great speed. It ended up hitting the wall of the library with such force that it was lodged in it.

"Kuro, are you telling me that I'm friendzoned?" the gentle, seemingly happy smile on Maddie's face doesn't match her threatening aura.

"N-no!"

"Then, is it because that I'm not that attractive to you?"

"HA?! NO!" I answered that question quicker and with greater conviction than the previous one. Heck, contrary to that, I do find Maddie beautiful. Her long, silver hair gives her an appearance that seems to be on par with the gods. And hey, those deep, silvery-blue eyes are really charming to look at. Not only that, her chest and hips…well, I don't know what to say. I just find her form heavenly to my eyes. Add Maddie's lovely fair complexion and those supple red lips…

Heck, I don't understand why someone like her chose a trash like me…

"ENOUGH!"

"!!!"

A third book once again found its mark on the opposite side of the wall, right behind me.

What did I do wrong this time?

I noticed Maddie's face terribly blushing. Oh right, she must've kept on reading my mind and saw all those physical assets of hers that I find attractive.

Heh, wait 'till she sees the charming aspects of her personality—

"AWAWAWAWAWA!!! I SAID ENOUGH!" Maddie was already in panic-embarrassed mode. I could picture a steam rising from her head as her face got even redder. However, that's not my concern. In her attempt to distract me, she inadvertently caused the entire contents of the bookshelf behind her to fly around.

"Ah! Maddie, calm down!" Half-amused, half-panicking as well, I tried to appease this cute girl beside me. Good thing, she managed to calm herself before the library got chaotic beyond control.

"Pervert!" Maddie playfully stuck her tongue out to me.

Oh well, that's what you get for violating my mind's privacy.

Maddie could only pout to express her annoyance at what I just did. I patted her head to ease her heart, and to make amends as well.

"You know, you may hold me in your arms…" she suggested, still pouting.

"Hmm…as much I wanted to, I can't do that just yet." I gently replied.

"Eh?! A girl's already inviting you, and you're refusing her?"

"Well, I have to." I answered, before explaining, "I respect you and your family, see? It's not that I don't find you unattractive; I'm doing this because we're all alone in this library, and you're a pretty girl, so…"

"So…?"

"Haha! I'm a healthy human male, even if I'm way too older than you. You get the idea? Alone and in love…"

Maddie never uttered a word. She just floated with her back turned towards me. However, I can see Maddie's ears as red as a beet.

I hope she understood what I meant…it's for her best anyway.

"O-of course!" I heard her say. "And that's the very reason I fell for you in the first place, Kuro."

Oh god, now it's my turn to blush. Not wishing to wallow in this sickeningly sweet air around us, I took the opportunity to tell her something I wanted to say before. "You know, would it be fine to you if we take our time to get to know each other well?"

"Isn't that what we're doing now?"

"Of course."

"Don't worry, Kuro!" Maddie winked at me, "It's not like I'm in a hurry to marry; I still want to do many things before settling down. I just want to make sure that you'll be mine."

"Oh…okay…" Honestly, I'm impressed by her straightforward manner of expressing her feelings. If it was me, I'd find myself dilly-dallying and mincing my words before I manage to speak what I meant to say.

Is that from her mother as well, I wonder?

In any case, I better not let Maddie's expectations down.

Honestly, that conversation I had with God remained at the back of mind ever since that time. Questions like, "what does He mean by 'Chersea's greatest crisis'?" and, "Will there be another human-demon war?", permeate my thoughts whenever I'm alone.

Devras' face then appeared in my thoughts. That guy's the first person (male) in this world I truly had an enjoyable talk. It would be a shame if we ended up fighting against each other.

To have an idea of what God might be talking about, I went browsing through the library's volumes of history books. Maddie was at the table where we were before, floating freely as she slept.

I don't know. Though she may be Chersea's Saint and the ultimate person concerned with this land's daily affairs, I feel like I shouldn't bother Maddie with this problem just yet. I mean, she had been through a lot of heavy stuff recently, and I want her mind to take a break off for the meantime.

That's why I'm doing this while she's asleep.

Ah anyway, in other related matters, good thing is that for some reason, I can somewhat understand the letters of this world even when I just got summoned. Chersea's writing is quite complex, and there were a few punctuations present in their grammar system. For example, narrative statements are usually written from bottom to top, and there are no quotation marks used to indicate dialogue. You'd only know that it is a character-spoken statement when the sentence is written top to bottom.

Whether this is an effect of my summoning, or magic in itself, I don't know. What I do get is that this phenomenon is really convenient for me. Saves a lot of time that would be spent on learning Chersea's writing and language.

So anyway, after looking out for the right book, I finally found the thing I'm searching for…

'Chronicles of the Demon War'

Since this thick book is the last one among a series of equally-impressive volumes with similar titles, I assumed that the last one is the most recent record of the history of human-demon wars. It is heavy, so I carefully pulled it off from its spot—a relatively high shelf, and carried it all the way back to my table.

Hmm…the Chronicles of the Demon War, volume XI. This is the account of the most recent human-demon war, which started when the demon king, Melqart Buvor, succeeded the infernal throne…

The eleventh volume of the book about the human-demon wars is a detailed history of everything related to that topic. It chronicled its background, which it claimed to have started the moment the previous conflict ended, and up to the legacy it gave to all races that were involved.

Well, I'm a fast-reader, but I still haven't been able to finish the entire book. I guess it would require several sittings—so I plan to read that again sometime later.

For now, I just need to know about the summary of that conflict. Maybe I'd get some clues on that crisis God was telling me…

Alright, so if you're wondering, here's a brief summary of what I managed to understand.

The most recent demon war began with the succession of the demon king, Melqart Buvor to the infernal throne of the demon race. Upon uniting the entire demon lordships, he embarked on an ambitious plan to conquer the human realm—a first step in his revanchist desire after their defeat in the previous conflict with humanity.

Aided with a new, powerful form of magic, King Melqart launched an invasion that destroyed the kingdoms of Venn and Thelmose, as well as many other duchies and principalities that was in its path. Many humans suffered and died; either from the murderous demons, or the famine and plagues that followed their destruction.

The northern countries were the most affected. They tried to ask for the help of the Empire of Chersea—the strongest human state at that time, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. The Imperials also sought to strengthen their own defenses, should the armies of the demons arrive in their borders, and in the process, left the northern Cherseans to their ruin.

It was at this time that in the part of the Empire nearest the armies of the demon king, the duchy of Nerfes, called for the aid of the heavens. They collaborated with the Saint, who refused to evacuate and decided to stand with her loyal paladins. Under the auspices of the great god, Gaius and his consort, Arame, they summoned powerful individuals to help humanity survive the bitter struggle against the demons. These men and women are now called 'Heroes'.

The war lasted for several seasons, even with the help of the heroes. It was the most destructive, and bitterest conflict ever to face mankind. Millions died, kingdoms obliterated, the lands to the further north of Chersea turned to desolate wastelands. But in the end, humans prevailed and managed to drive the invaders back to their own lands…

Ah well, it's pretty interesting to note the names of the heroes summoned by the Saint of that time.

That last hero, Cassandra David…her name sounds familiar to me. I don't know where exactly I heard of it, but I feel like I uttered that name before…

Anyway, long story short, the general history of the human-demon war is: before heroes—defeat, after heroes—win. A typical ending for any fantasy novel out there, I know. But well, it's on the after-effects of that conflict that I once again became interested.

Because, during the course of the war, the heroes were supported by the duchy of Nerfes and other autonomous states of the Empire that was still functioning. The Holy Palatial Gardens also helped the heroes, and that caused a rift in the relationship of those surviving northern duchies and the rest of the Imperial Chersea.

When the war was over, the Empire was forced to grant further autonomy to Nerfes and elevated its status into a client kingdom, in order to preserve the Imperial authority in those parts.

However, it was too late. In the next few seasons after the end of the human-demon conflict, the northern states of the Empire rebelled and proclaimed independence from the Imperial rule.

Why would they continue to be ruled under a country that doesn't care for them anyway?

And so, that leads back to the present, and the geopolitical situation of Chersea, the realm of humans.

Wait, nothing was answered in my questions. This was indeed, 'humanity's greatest crisis'—at least, it was way back during those dark times. However, what about God's words? What crisis is He referring to?

Having hit a dead end, I took the book and put it back on its shelf. Well, it's not like I totally wasted time researching on nothing; I actually learned more about Chersea's past. But I guess, to answer my questions, I really have to scan around the entire history section of the library, which is…uh…I think, it'll take a long while…

Who knows, I might stumble again on some interesting stuff if I did just that.

Going down the ladder that was for accessing the higher parts of the library (Chersea's history books about the human-demon war occupy a high shelf), I accidentally missed a step and almost fell crashing on the floor. Fortunately, I managed to grab hold on a sturdy part of the shelf before me, thus, avoiding a painful accident.

"!!!"

However, some books that were out of their proper place were the ones that fell. It caused a muffled crashing sound, which is good, since I don't want to disturb Maddie on her sleep.

Having gone down safely from the ladder, I picked the books that fell to place them back in their former positions. I looked into the titles just to be sure I'm arranging it in a manner that would help the maid sorting it.

"!!!"

A book with blood red letters for its title caught my attention. Singling it out, I read the words on the thick, leather cover…

'Bloody Witch of Meldech'

Hmm…pretty interesting title, huh? I wonder if this is a novel, or—

Oh right, this is the history section…

So, Cherseans have legends like this classified as official history. I mean, come on, the book title reeks of chuunibyou. How can someone take this seriously?

The Bloody Witch of Meldech. For several seasons, the people of Nerfes' capital city was terrorized by this horrible creature. A perfect bogeyman for the children, and the worst nightmare for the adults. This demon in the shape of human is never easily satiated with their blood…

A demon in human form, or a human with a heart of a demon? Find out the—

"!!!"

I was shocked when the book—as heavy as it weighs—suddenly flew away from my hands. I was about to run from fright when I saw Maddie behind me.

"What? Was that you who knocked that book away from my hand?" I sighed in relief as I saw her. I almost thought it's a ghost, or something else.

"Ah yes. Was wondering about that book you're reading…"

"Oh that? It's some weird book about a 'Bloody Witch' of something…"

"I see…" Maddie then uttered a spell that caused all the books scattered nearby to return neatly by themselves in their respective places. I couldn't help but to marvel at the ability she displayed; it's just way too cool for me to handle.

"Ah anyway, Kuro, can I ask you something?"

"Hm? Sure, what is it?"

"Uhm…can you please refrain from mentioning this 'Bloody Witch' thing?" Maddie then brought the book that talks about that very topic; it seemed like she purposefully left it out with her when she returned the other books on their shelves. "I didn't know that there's still a copy of this book here; please forget anything that you read about it."

Then, without uttering a word, she burned it to ashes.

"…"

Honestly, I'm all creeped-out by Maddie's sudden change in character. Even without her speaking, I could sense that she's dead serious with her request for me to forget what I just saw.

"Kuro, please, can I count on your cooperation in this matter?"

"A-alright." I was bewildered by the sudden turn of events that I didn't think much of my answer.

Ah, it's not like it has something to do with me anyway, I hope…

The God of Chersea had retired. Not wishing to be bothered by another land to govern, the gods chose a few mortals known as the Saints to guide Chersea for them. Each were given a corresponding god-like powers, and each had different personalities. Enter Kuro. He was a human from Earth that was summoned by the Human Saint, all because she was bored. Virtually alone and with a few friends to turn to, he must learn to survive in this new land he was brought into. And for that to happen, Kuro must discover and wield the power he didn't know he possessed long before he was summoned to Chersea...

"Why couldn't it have just been some random extra? Or even one of Marcel's goons?" I thought exasperated.
Lucien Castle was a major recurring character and the main antagonist in the third season of "The Originals" He was eventually turn into an Upgraded Original Vampire by the ancestors of New Orleans using the "immortality spell", he's also the first and former vampire turned by Nicklaus Mikaelson as well as the first vampire to be turned overall, and a member of the Trinity.
As we stood on the eerie street I wondered 'How he could see me?' No matter how powerful a vampire is they shouldn't be to see through a cloaking spell.
"I've heard enough to know you're bad news"
I wave my hand in an attempt to throw the 1000 plus year old vampire, only for him to for him to shrug it off like nothing. 
His face darkens, "Now that wasn't very nice" Before i could reply he turned into a blur, running towards me. Probably planning to rip my heart out. Fortunately my barrier held up and he was sent crashing a few meters away. A wave my hand again casting a much stronger "Motus" no longer underestimating my opponent.
He is immediately lifted into the air, i hold him there whilst I raise my other arm and cast a overpowered pain inflicting spell "Phesmatos superous em animi" 
"AHHH" Lucien screams in pain before he eventually falls unconscious.
Dropping the incapacitated vampire into the ground I cast the same boundary spell as before.
"Kembe Po transi" 
Subsequently I cast a boundary manipulation spell meant to reverse the effects so it would trap people in, not keep them out.
 "Aven safa sa belise, de la mer" The entire fight had taken place in under 15 seconds. 'I'm stronger than I thought'
I took a few seconds to catch my breath before I ripped a piece metal off a nearby gate with magic and flung into his abdomen. I watch he groans in pain slowly waking up. Retrieving the blood covered pike, I decide not to kill Lucien- he was rather important after all- and make my way back to the Hotel. The boundary holding him should fall in an hour or so. 
"Now that I have vampire blood all I need is a willing participant" I mused
...

 I was in my hotel room, sitting on the floor surrounded by candles. In front of me was the piece Marcel's hair I had gotten, as well as Emily's Grimoire. Grabbing a piece of paper I neatly write 'Meet me at St. Anne's Church tomorrow night if you want daylight rings. Come alone.' Placing the piece of paper on the floor with along with Marcel's hair, I close my eyes and start chanting. 
"Prend ce message ce au le centre se levant Vain se message sa a le main sur la vain" After the seventh chant, the paper holding the message slowly starts set on fire. I watch with no small amount of interest as the flame dies down and the paper vanishes. "I hope it worked" I mutter anxiously under my breath. "No point in stressing, I can only wait and see" I pack up my candles, keep Marcel's hair just in case I need it and turn in for the night. I was very tired.

Marcel's POV

After waking up Rousseau's, my guys told me I drank too much and fell asleep, but I knew better. I had felt the powerful magic wash over me. "But why?" I wondered whilst I laid in bed. I had spent 2 hours thinking and I couldn't find a reason. Why knock me unconscious? I had all my stuff, so nothing was stolen. None of my guys were hurt. "Did the witch fail? Maybe she couldn't finish the job and fled th-"before I could finish a flash of fire appeared next to me, along with it a charred, but readable note.
"A message spell? Now who would be se-" and that's when it hit me. "so that's what the witch wanted" I chuckled. Grabbing onto the note with a mix of curiosity and anticipation I read. The writing was small and clear. After reading the content of the message I didn't know what too think. 
On one hand I needed more Daylight rings, on the other this was a powerful and dangerous witch who was capable of catching even me of guard. Not to mention she wants to meet alone. "This could easily be a trap, but I've gotta at least think about it. Witches who know how to make daylight rings are rare, not to mention Witches who are willing to make daylight rings for vampires" Choosing to sleep on it, I put the paper on my bedside and close my eyes.

Bonnie POV

I had spent the day with Rudy again before putting him back to sleep and making my way to St. Anne's church.
Once I arrived I stood outside on the empty street and waited.... and waited. 

After 20 minutes of waiting I heard footstep approaching. Looking in the direction of the noise I see a 3 tall silhouette approaching, once they arrive under a street light I immediately recognise them. Marcel and his two right hand men, Thierry and Diego.
'I don't why i actually expected him to come alone. He wouldn't be that stupid' I inwardly snort. I quickly put on an indifferent front.
"Marcel is it? I'm the witch that contacted you, though you seem to have brought some friends" i spoke monotonously. 
With a charming smile he says "I wanted to come alone but my guys insisted they come along, they're just looking out for me. Now then why don't you tell me, what's a kid like you doing is selling daylight rings to vampires?" My eyes narrow at his attempt to know more about me. 
"Doesn't matter why I'm doing it. I'm here to talk business that's all, 1 million per ring, oh  and you'll have to compel a bank account for me to use. For obvious reasons" 
With a booming laugh Marcel responds "500,000" "900,000" I counter,
"600,000"
"850,000"
...
After going back and forth for a while we settled on $750,000. Selling 9 rings I ended up with a total of $6,750,000. Marcel had set up a nice shiny bank account for me. I wasn't too worried about him going back on his word  and breaking our deal considering I was 16. 'Ah yes did I mention? My birthday went by. It was... boring to say the least, welp I'm rich now so I don't care. Hahahahaha' 
After getting access to the bank account I changed some of the important details. The account was under the name "Michelle Kyle" 'He could have picked a worse name' I sighed silently. 

Next on my list of things to do? Meet some witch's, my first stop should be the French Quarter coven to learn some more magic and make some witch friends. Emily's grimoire has a lot of spells that wound interest them, it may not be as good a spell book as Esther Mikaelson's grimoire, but it's still better than most out there. Getting a pet vampire was another thing on my agenda, though I wasn't in a rush. 
'I already have Lucien's a blood now all I need is someone willing and loyal' 
I knew this would be difficult but I should at least try. I wouldn't be too disappointed if i couldn't find someone whilst in New Orleans since Mystic Falls was full of opportunity's.

I could be seen standing outside what was known as "The Cauldron" This place was the headquarters of The French Quarter Coven, it also the main area that belong the witches within the city, the other being "Lafayette Cemetery"
Taking my first steps into the vicinity I can see multiple witches of a different covens roaming around. I seem to fit right in. People didn't find it strange that a unfamiliar witch was visiting, New Orleans was rather popular this time of year after all. 
I head to a stand that seems to be selling different herbs and introduce myself with a fake name, but I keep the Bennett surname for the sake of drawing attention to myself.
After meeting and talking to a few witches I figured out that some were willing to trust me just because I was a Bennett and others just because I was a "fellow witch"

After repeating this process for a few days and also teaching them some enchantment and linking spells. They were also willing to teach some of there magic.
One very useful spell I learnt was the "Ancestral Pain Infliction Spell" A spell that is similar to the power of pain infliction, though it works on a larger scale, giving the casters the ability to subdue more vampires at a time and even those older ones, commonly more resistant to aneurisms. Not only that it, but I now have a few New Orleans witch's on speed dial to help me in the future.

I was Currently at the Hotel and had just finished packing my clothes for trip back to Mystic Falls, unfortunately I don't have a baby vampire, but I have used a blood reserving spell to keep Lucien's blood in an small bottle ready for use at a moments notice. Hopefully I'll have more luck back home. 'Completing 2 out of the 3 tasks I set out to do isn't so bad if I do say so myself' I think proudly

Our Mc becomes Bonnie Bennett 2 years before the plot.

Today is the day the hunting begins. Yi Lei Fang is wearing a white robe, Yi Cheng is wearing a red robe with black design, and Yi Xing-fu's attire was a black robe with gold designs. The three siblingsq carried their own bows, a quiver full of arrows, swords, and daggers.

And off they went into the dangerous forest without any servants and horses. What they didn't know, except for Yi Lei Fang, was that Yi Yang, their father, ordered his top three shadow guards to secretly protect them and only show themselves when necessary.

And before they knew it, two hours passed by since they entered the forest and yet there were no signs of animals. The only thing that can be heard in the forest were the birds chirping to attract their mate since it is spring, mating season. This is also a good time for hunting as well.

Yi Lei Fang is in the middle while Yi Cheng was at her left and Yi Xing-fu on the opposite. Two protective brothers let out a strong aura full of killing intent, warning any living beast or being with a "fuck off. Come any close to my beautiful Meimei I will kill you and your species."

Unbeknownst to Yi Cheng and Yi Xing-fu, the poor mammals were so scared to even mate! How are they supposed to do their thing when the strong killing aura is scaring the living daylights out of them!

Yi Lei Fang was holding a book to read while walking at the same time. Although she looked as if she was reading, she was actually observing her surroundings using her mental power. She knew the animals were hiding far away from them because of her stupid brothers.

The corners of Yi Lei Fang's lip twitched. Even though this event happens all the time with the original owner when they go hunting but this was Amira's first time experiencing this! 

This was supposed to be a hunting game! With all the animals scattering a hundred feet away from them, how are they supposed to hunt? This is more like walking in the park with two maniacs!

It has been two hours! Yi Lei Fang is on the verge of using the book in her hand to whack her brothers' head. She's had enough of this!

She closed her book with a loud thud which resounded throughout the forest, causing the birds nearby to fly away and the males to jolt from fright.
With a sweet voice, Yi Lei Fang says, "My dear elder brothers, would you guys be kind enough to remove your killing aura so we can properly start the hunting game, or do you guys prefer to be my test subjects since I'm learning about medicine?"

Yi Lei Fang gave Yi Cheng and Yi Xing-fu a cold and evil smile that sent a shiver down their backs. 

They quickly withdrew their killing intent. They knew their Xiao Meimei can be a little devil when you get on her bad side but she can also be an angel when she is in a good mood.

Yi Cheng and Yi Xing-fu did not mean to anger their Xiao Meimei. When Yi Lei Fang was little even till now, the Yi Family and servants knew she loved to read all kinds of books in a quiet place. The two brothers just didn't want any disturbance to occur while she was busy reading her medical book.

If Yi Lei Fang knew the reason for their action, she would feel guilty about threatening them.

After walking for another hour, they spotted a group of eight gray fur rabbits in an open area. The three siblings immediately jumped to find their own hiding spots.

Yi Lei Fang jumped up on a tree using her qingong. Her hiding spot gave her a good view below her. She saw Yi Cheng hidden behind a big tree and Yi Xing-fu hidden behind a bush.

Each of the siblings were eyeing their own prey.

Yi Lei Fang grabbed her recurve bow and quietly pulled out an arrow from the quiver hanging behind her back. She placed the arrow on the arrow rest and straightens up her upper body while squatting down on a big branch.
She draws the arrow in a perfect form. Thanks to the book she read inside the pagoda, "Learning How To Use All Kinds of Weapons" book and many shooting practices in the dimensional space, she would not have known how to use a bow including many other weapons, excluding guns and daggers since she already knew how to use those from doing military combat training. Oh, how she missed her Glock 22.

Her grip on the center string serving loosened without her realizing it. Her wandering mind snapped back to reality but it was too late as the arrow shot forward and missed the target. The arrow alerted the group of rabbits who immediately scurried off. Some ran off in a group and others ran off separately.

The three siblings dashed off to chase after the group of rabbits that ran. Yi Chen, Yi Xing-fu, and Yi Lei Fang looked at each other and pulled out a small hand-sized flute which only the Miao clan could use to locate a person's whereabouts. After seeing each of them have a locator flute, they can locate each other without worry. They place it back in their robe as the three of them jumped from tree to tree.

Yi Cheng nods his head, signaling to start their hunt. All three of them threw their daggers precisely between the rabbits, separating them in three. Yi Cheng took the left and Yi Xing-fu took the middle while Yi Lei Fang took the right.

Yi Lei Fang has a big smile on her face. She loves the feeling of the wind blowing against her soft black hair. Using her qingong to jump is exhilarating! A soft laugh escapes from her mouth. Her laugh sounded like soft musical bells, making the listener's heart itchy and their ears tickle. 

However, it was a different scene from the two rabbits' point of view due to the fact that they are the ones being chased and will soon be food if they don't escape! Her smile looked like an evil maniac that belonged to a witch while her laugh sounded like she crawled her way out of hell and is happy to be back from the dead! Their tiny bodies shiver. 

What Yi Lei Fang did not expect to happen was one of the rabbits immediately dashing off in a separate direction. One sprinted to the left and the other one still ran straight. Yi Lei Fang became flustered for a second and decided to chase the rabbit who is running ahead.

"Of course it was for those reasons," said Wang Jiexi.
"Fuck, then what're you so cocky for?" said Huang Shaotian. Wang Jiexi's initial tone made it sound like he himself could pull off what Ye Qiu had done.
"Because I'm not too familiar with the capabilities of a Battle Mage," answered Wang Jiexi.
"Oh? Then your class is?" Yu Wenzhou asked.
"Witch," Wang Jiexi answered.
Witch… At that, Yu Wenzhou and Huang Shaotian couldn't help but glance at each other. They'd never heard of this player's name before, but Tiny Herb's core was the famed and powerful Witch Vaccaria. To play the class of the team's core – that usually meant something important!
"A Witch? In that case…" Yu Wenzhou turned back to look at the stage. Didn't Hundred Blossoms have a Witch of their own? But One Autumn Leaf had landed right in the middle of them from above, and then Excellent Era's counterattack had smothered them ruthlessly.
"If I were him…?" Wang Jiexi made a gesture, and Yu Wenzhou handed over his notebook and pen.
"I'd get to here, (58, 70), and then from there, cut through!" With deft strokes, Wang Jiexi quickly sketched a diagram on a blank page of the notebook.
"What?" Huang Shaotian couldn't quite follow Yu Wenzhou's notes, nor Wang Jiexi's plan.

Disperse Powder to lower the opponents' speed.

"You're bragging!" Huang Shaotian finally understood, and immediately expressed his disdain without holding back.
"Next season, you'll see." Wang Jiexi didn't try to explain more; there was a limit to what could be shown with pen and paper.
"Hmph." Huang Shaotian, still feeling somewhat disdainful toward this player, refused to let him have the last word. "It's not like Blossoming Chaos couldn't have stopped One Autumn Leaf's attack on his own. He could have forcibly cancelled his Earth-Shattering Slash and turned in midair with a Falling Light Blade."
Wang Jiexi glanced at him and smiled. "Oh? Was there such an opportunity?" There was often a gap between theory and reality.
"Of course!" said Huang Shaotian, unusually certain. It looked like these weren't empty words.
The screens were currently replaying the scenes showing One Autumn Leaf's pivotal kill. 
"Right now!" Huang Shaotian suddenly shouted, but the moment had already flashed by.
Yu Wenzhou and Wang Jiexi glanced at each other, then back to the screens. Fortunately, it was replayed several times, and now they knew when the moment would appear. When the screens slowed down the replay, everything became even clearer.
Wang Jiexi looked at Huang Shaotian in a new light. It looked like this chatterbox wasn't just some talkative guy – he knew his stuff, even discovering something that Wang Jiexi himself hadn't noticed.
Had there been an opportunity?
In theory, yes. In that instant, if the actions Huang Shaotian had named were executed, then there was indeed a chance to break One Autumn Leaf's attack.
"What's your name?" Wang Jiexi asked him.
"Huang Shaotian." He inclined his head.
"You're correct, there was such an opportunity," Wang Jiexi acknowledged. "But would you be able to seize it?"
Seeing an opportunity was one matter. Being able to take advantage of it was the real test.
But Huang Shaotian simply threw Wang Jiexi's own words back at him. "Next season, you'll see."
Wang Jiexi nodded. "Then, next season, we'll meet onstage?"
"We'll meet onstage!"
"What about you?" asked Wang Jiexi, turning toward Yu Wenzhou.
Huang Shaotian suddenly felt bad. This outsider had no clue about Yu Wenzhou's hand speed weakness. If he knew the truth, would he still anticipate Yu Wenzhou's onstage appearance?
Yu Wenzhou, however, remained as calm as ever. 
"You two, aren't you forgetting something?" he said.
This time, it was Huang Shaotian and Wang Jiexi's turn to exchange a glance.
"What?" they asked together.
"Ye Qiu is a living person, with the ability to adjust as the situation demands. Not to mention that Excellent Era is composed of more members than just him. Are you sure that your response would be enough to suppress Ye Qiu and overturn this situation?" Yu Wenzhou said.
That silenced both of them.
Their response could potentially break the situation, but only if it rendered Ye Qiu helpless.
Could they make that happen?
Suddenly, the two of them weren't so confident.
"Thus," concluded Yu Wenzhou, shutting his notebook, "I believe that I am not yet ready." 
Onstage, Excellent Era pulled off the reversal and crushed Hundred Blossoms. Charging at the front was the king of the Alliance last season – the Battle God, One Autumn Leaf.
Hundred Blossoms suffered a brutal defeat.
The attention-grabbing Blood and Blossoms playstyle, after going undefeated for half a season, finally met their Waterloo. And the one to defeat them was Ye Qiu, was Excellent Era.
The Hundred Blossoms players had been filled with hope and anticipation as they walked onstage, but as they now made the return trip through the player passageway, they did so in dejected spirits.
No one had anything to say. Sun Zheping didn't, Zhang Jiale didn't either.
They returned to their preparation room in silence, but when they arrived at the door, the door to the opposing preparation room opened, and someone walked out. Someone who they hadn't seen when they'd walked onstage with Excellent Era earlier.
"Ye Qiu!" Sun Zheping immediately shouted.
"Ah?" That person looked at Team Hundred Blossoms gathered before him.
This was Ye Qiu, the person whom they had been looking forward to meet for a long time. But now, they were the losers; the battle had drained their earlier anticipation and fighting spirit. And Ye Qiu, the person who had vanquished them, chose this moment to appear, making them feel somewhat awkward.
But even so, Sun Zheping didn't lower his head – he would never lower his head. Ye Qiu was indeed very strong, stronger than he had seen while watching from the sidelines. This would only spur his improvement.
"Next time we'll win for sure!" said Sun Zheping.
Ye Qiu smiled. "It won't be that easy."
"For sure!" Zhang Jiale stepped forward, supporting his partner.
"Don't be so worked up." Ye Qiu was still smiling. His hand had been rummaging through his pocket his whole time, and he finally withdrew it, holding half a pack of cigarettes.
"Do you smoke?" he offered to the two of them, seemingly ignoring their combative attitude toward him.
"Huh? Don't know how…" The two of them had been strengthening their resolve to defeat him – faced with this unexpected question, they didn't really know how to respond.
"No smoking in the passageways!!" The voice came from some unknown place – loud and clear, it seemed as though it were prepared for this moment.
"I'm going to smoke." Ye Qiu waved at the Hundred Blossoms crowd, then headed toward the passageway exit.
Hundred Blossoms stared after him, stunned. This was the strongest in the Alliance, the person who had just defeated him. They found no trace of a victor's arrogance on him, but at the same time, in the face of their challenge and their aggressive promise to win next time, he wasn't particularly humble or polite.
It won't be that easy.
That's how he responded.
This sentence was straightforward, was honest.
Indeed, it would not be that easy! They knew this from the beginning, and now, they knew it even more clearly.
