Notice: I by no means own anything. From the translation of the novel to the original fanfic, they are not owned by me. The only thing I own is my English translation skills. Before you ask me if copying and pasting from the source and using google translate is possible, it is not, because the original Korean viewer does not allow for copying and pasting, resulting in me having to translate word for word on my own or through the usage of sla... I mean cousins and friends helping with the translation.  Another thing to note, is that this fanfiction sort of requires you to know about the Tower of God universe before reading. Not just the anime adaptation, but also the webtoon, as most of the story that will be covered, will have content based in the recent seasons of the webtoon.

While doing some pretty standard paperwork Geneva pops her head in and says " hey Adrian the Colonel is struggling to interrogate that pilot we dragged in wanna watch"

"Sure why not that sounds fun"

After putting away my work we run to interrogation and see the colonel yelling at the very cute North Korean pilot while pacing and smacking the table while saying things like "If you don't tell me where your friends are hiding right now I'll have to get physical with you and nobody wants that do we hehehe"

After he says that the pilot responds in Korean  " Please Sir I'm telling you what you want to know but you aren't even trying to listen and you don't even have a translator for this interrogation. I mean fuck are you even qualified to hold that rank or did you just weasel your way up in rank politically" thankfully I learned to speak Korean while stationed in South Korea so I'm translating all of this for Geneva while we're both laughing our asses of while watching this until I see the Colonel raise his hand to slap the pilot so I rush in to stop him.


"That's enough Colonel you are acting like an idiot I mean fuck you didn't even call for a translator even after finding out she doesn't speak English so back off and let me translate or do you need to start a committee for that asshole"

While looking at me like he's never been confronted with his own stupidity before he says " Go ahead Private see if I care but just know I'm going to report this"

"Fine go away now sir" he walks away and I say in Korean " Hello Ma'am I am Private Class Adrian Nygaard and I am here to interrogate you now please what is your name ma'am"

"Finally someone who speaks Korean I am Captain Ling Kwan but you may call me Kwan and I would like to defect to your ship and in exchange I will provide information on where my former comrades are based and the location of a habitable planet and all I ask is to be allowed to fly a ship,not be treated like a prisoner, and just because you are extremely handsome I'd like a kiss now how much of that will I actually get" she says with a relieved smile on her face.


"Well I can give you the kiss" I say as I give her a short kiss on the lips" but I have to ask my commanding officer about the other stuff okay Kwan"

"Of course Adrian I understand it's what I expected"

After she agreed with me I went to the General's office and asked him "Sir I managed to get the North Korean Pilot to defect but her conditions are that she wants to continue being a pilot and to simply be treated as a person oh and a kiss"

General Smith looks at me looking confused and says "wait is that it, like you're being serious with me"

"Yes sir that's it so is it approved sir"

He thinks for a minute and says "Sure but she's your responsibility understand oh and I'm reinstating you as a Captain because those charges were total horseshit so goodbye kid"


After making my way back to interrogation I tell Kwan " your requests are all approved but you are under my command and you are now a lieutenant and you will have to take english classes is that satisfactory Kwan"

She answers "sir yes sir"

After setting Kwan up with a bunk, uniform,and set up her daily english class I go back to my bunk put back on my Captain's strips and finish up my paperwork before going to bed.

After the conclusion of the S Worlds Tournament, Demacia Cafe returned to its usual challenge matches.
The prize had accumulated to over 20,000 yuan, but not a single team has been able to beat the defending team to take the stack of cash back home.
Following the defeat of almost every team nearby, fewer and fewer bright-eyed challengers were coming in each day. The strength of the defending team had received the approval and recognition of every LOL player in the surrounding area, so not many people were willing to basically donate their money away by facing them.
Of course, Boss Lei wasn't going to let their battle stage be left idle like this.
Mr Lei was part of the Shanghai Cybercafe Association, so he spent a little money advertising their defending team at a few distinguished cybercafes and clubs in the Shanghai area. The advertisement was simple. If you could beat their defending team, the almost 30,000 yuan cash prize was yours for the taking!

Of course this included some second-rate and third-rate professional players looking for some fun.
Just by freeing up a weekend and 5,000 yuan, you could stand a chance to bring back almost sixty times your investments, and with returns as high as that, no one could resist!
During this time, Lin Dong and the rest of the team felt the obvious wave of pressure placed upon their shoulders with the sudden influx of challenging teams coming to dethrone them.
While previous challengers only knew the basics of ganking and team fights, Team Skycrown quickly realized that their current matchups were against opponents who really know how to control the game!
Their manipulation over the game was scary, using the snowball effect to try and win quickly by first pushing down a single lane and then using that advantage to take control over the entire map, eventually destroying their enemies' entire line of defense.
These teams knew that the defending team's bottom lane was their weak point, and thus, spent the majority of the game focusing on the bottom side of the map, taking turrets, claiming the Dragon, and stealing buffs. The defending team was almost tempted to surrender at the 20-minute mark.
Luckily, the 4 remaining members of Team Skycrown had the skills to backup their invincible claim, managing to always make a comeback from the worst situations to burst their opponents down during the mid to late game.
The opponents synergized well, but compared to the first-grade teams found in the LPL, they just weren't as flexible or as careful. Their two front lines, Da Luo and Zhou Yan, were always able to catch every misplay the enemy made with their deep understanding of the game's mechanics, effectively prolonging the game so that their team could scale and overpower their opposition.
During the past 6 months or so, Team Skycrown had faced teams with every fighting style you could think of, and they knew the mainstream compositions like the back of their hand, able to see through the fatal flaws of off-meta picks as well. You can't deny, some of the teams conjured up through a spark of inspiration could be pretty daunting, and apart from the calm, serious vibe that professional players let off, these teams could easily rival pro players with their skills, combos, and strange tactics!
The guys from Team Skycrown had originally thought that there wasn't much purpose in fighting these cybercafe competitions since their opponents would always be too weak.
But now, their views had shifted. With a 30,000 yuan jackpot behind them, Team Skycrown could feel the murderous glares from their opponents burn into their skulls. Just last week, some second-rate professionals had faced them, confusing Team Skycrown with unorthodox tactics and almost had them beat.

Going from Platinum to Diamond, and then from Diamond V to Diamond I, Luocheng was delighted to find shadows of Korean pro players lurking around his rank already.
People in Diamond I and II of the Korean server would already be considered top players back in China, this was in part due to them being updated at the same pace as America, but also because the Korean server was just a single server for the whole country, totally different from China which had over ten servers.
If you were to say so-and-so was the top player, the first reaction you'd get from people would be "Wow, which server are they from?", and if they were anything but Ionia, Bilgewater, or Freljord, you would be dismissed almost immediately.
But if you were to say that you were a top player in the Korea server, it wouldn't be just an abstract concept, since there was only one server, the rankings in the server could basically substitute as a nationwide skill-level ranking!
There were over 200 players who were considered to be the "top players" in the Korean server, and a lot of pro players and other top players from China often went over to the Korean server to play a bit of ranked.
Back when Cat Eye, Qiu Shenping, had gotten into one of the top player ranking spots in Korea, he had gained quite a following. After all, there were only so many spots in that ranking, and one spot taken meant one less chance for someone else to get in. For a foreigner to take that spot, wouldn't that be seen as a challenge?
However, it had been Xiao Bei who had climbed with that account, and so, after Xiao Bei had stopped playing, that account was quickly pushed out of the top rankings and Qiu Shenping eventually faded into the background of the e-sports scene.
Luocheng and Shallow Dream had a very high win-rate, and unlike others who spent a really long time trying to get into Diamond, they only used a few days.
The hardest part was getting from Diamond V to Diamond II!
The skill gap between these ranks was immense as it was saturated with main accounts and smurf accounts of pro players, there were even professional play-by-play narrators. Besides that, there were copious amounts of players from other countries here looking to learn of the newest tactics from the Koreans. A lot of team leaders like Luocheng hid around this rank and this was quite a hindrance for Luocheng and Shallow Dream.
"Mid, ADC, and Support are taken, so I'll go jungle and you go top?" Luocheng asked Shallow Dream.
Unless you typed in English, Chinese characters would all become blank squares in the Korean server. Luocheng and Shallow Dream mainly communicated through the QQ app, and though he had asked for a voice call several times now, Shallow Dream still refused him each time, and Luocheng would be lying if he said he wasn't suspicious of her identity.
"I can't Top," Shallow Dream said straightforwardly.
"It's cool, I'll camp you. You'll get fed all the same!" Luocheng announced confidently.

"I've seen you! I hate you!" Suddenly the enemy Top typed English words into the all chat!
Luocheng was pretty shocked. He hadn't played in the Korean servers for quite a while, and yet, he was still recognized. Had Luocheng destroyed him while he was carrying a girl? If he hadn't, why would this person keep a grudge for the better part of a year?
Luocheng replied in his fluent English, "die,ting,bu,dong,han,wen!"
(T/N: "I don't understand Korean!" in romanized Chinese.)
"…" Shallow Dream was probably in awe of Luocheng's perfect reply.
"China rat, when we were just about to obliterate you, you go and hide!?" Suddenly, this player Pakeblablablahamida said in a slew of Chinese.
Luocheng was stunned for a second, this dude spoke Chinese!? Wow!
Thinking about it further, the guy probably just used Google Translate.
Luocheng went and found his own translating website and typed a phrase, asking who he was.
"あなたは誰!"
Shallow Dream couldn't watch ant longer and messaged Luocheng on the QQ app, 'You sent that in Japanese'!
Luocheng let out an awkward laugh, "My bad, my bad, I was wondering why those words looked oddly familiar."
"Oddly familiar?" Shallow Dream didn't get what he was saying.
"Um, you're a good kid."

"I'm Team STG's Pake, your video made us very annoyed, you'd better cut my name out!" The enemy team sent another line of Chinese, it looked like they were really using some sort of translating app.
"What translating app are you using? It's so accurate," Luocheng asked.
Google Translate was infamously bad, basically translating word for word, class Chinese-style English, and Luocheng cringed just thinking about it.

A handsome young man with long hair opened his translation app in frustration, reading the completely unrelated question on the screen. He was this close to grinding him into the ground!
"Are you sure it's him, Mr. Park?" A blond-haired man asked from beside him.
"I'm sure, I'd recognize this ID even if I turned to dust!" Park Yisheng shouted.
It wasn't Yisheng's fault that he reacted to Luocheng's ID the same way he would react to his parents' murderer. During the new year, Yisheng had made an appearance as a famous professional player from the Korean server on a popular LOL show.
Acting as a guest, he gave the audience a play-by-play analysis of a bottom lane game and tips on how to improve. The audience had been so enthralled that they opened their books to take notes.
"Next, let's take our knowledge into a real game." Yisheng didn't know it at the time, but this sentence was the start of his nightmare.
Other show hosts would have probably gone into a custom game just to demonstrate a few techniques in a practical setting, but being as cocky as he was, Yisheng had decided to go into a ranked game, in a Platinum almost Diamond rank match.
Too bad though that that was when Luocheng and Shallow Dream were climbing. It was really just bad luck that Yisheng had queued directly into the peculiar duo of Luocheng and Shallow Dream.
The outcome was as expected, and without a good Support, Yisheng was left crying for his mom. Those Korean high schoolers who had brought all their notebooks? Their pens and their jaws were all on the floor.
Pro players hated these sorts of situations. LOL was already a 5-man game, even if they could maintain a 90 percent win rate in Plat and Diamond, there was still a solid 10 percent chance that they would throw everything, and that 10 percent just so happened to show itself during a broadcasted show. The host was at a loss for words, what could he say to save Park Yisheng from the humiliation he was inevitably going to receive for being beaten very badly.
Professional players who had appeared on the past programs had had smooth lanes, and if they lost, the host would just say so-and-so was actually really strong, it's just that their teammates were bad, once again making it clear that LOL was a team game first and foremost, relieving any awkwardness still hanging in the air from the loss.
But the thing was, Yisheng's teammates that game didn't do horribly, so for him to feed in his lane…
That was the first time in his professional career that Yisheng had made an appearance on a programme that showed his face, and when he saw the horrified expression on their faces, all he wanted was to crawl into a ditch and die.
And to add insult to injury, the video had been clipped by JX and posted onto the main page for the China area.
Luocheng obviously hadn't known that they were recording, because if he did, he wouldn't have killed them so much that they couldn't come up to soak experience.
If he knew they had been recording, Luocheng would've spawn-killed him under the fountain, duh!

The first thing I noticed from Ogden was how pleasant it was.
In the open field, I could see the Wasatch Mountains and the blue skies had beautiful clouds scattered throughout it. As I took a big breath of air in, I felt the crisp, cool air clean my whole inner body. 
David and I went jogging early in the morning and then came back home. A face I didn't recognize approached the doors. 
"Huh? Who's this?"
A man with a muscular body reached under the front entrance mat and found a key.  
As he entered the house, he looked back at us who were in the yard finishing up the run.
"(Hey.)"
"(Do you live here?)"
"(Yep. I guess you guys are the new family members Stanley was talking about?)"
Did he just mention Stanley's name?
As the man walked into the house, David and I followed close behind. Since we were running in below-zero temperatures, showering up was the top priority. If I were to catch a cold, there will be too many disruptions to our schedule.
As the man grabbed a milk from the fridge and poured it into his bowl of cereal, he put his hand out for a handshake. It seemed like he was a sociable person.
"(It's nice to meet you, I'm Barron. Just call me "Double B".)"
"(It seems like you're the owner of the room on the second floor?)"
"(Well, yeah. In order to help students who are going through financial struggles, Stanley lets me stay here for free.)"
That's also what I heard at dinner last night.
I asked Stanley questions that made me curious about him and one of them was about the empty rooms on the second floor. He told us a few students who were attending WSU were living in the upper rooms. 
It seemed quite normal for people to not use the city municipal, but it was another positive point that I learned.
Instead of taking money, Stanley used a different type of currency.
Of course, it's slightly different for us athletes. 
When we follow the policy of the NCAA, some people may not qualify for a dormitory. If that's the case, we can stay here. I asked him what his fair price was and Stanley said he talked about that in a meeting in the past.
Since the issue of rent was not directly included in the recruiting process, the NCAA thanked Stanley for his decision to do this for the students.
"(Are you guys going out with us this Sunday?)"
"(Probably. Oh, also. I'm David. And this is Kim Minhyuk.)"

Leon and Barron's way of greeting each other was quite unique. They were both going to give me a tour of the university.
Instead of simply shaking hands and hugging, they busily moved their hands and did a complicated handshake. It was similar to the one that Miami Heats' Lebron James would do with Mario Chalmers or Norris Cole. 
I may be easily impressed by little things, but this honestly impressed me a lot.
["(Alright, we're here. Give me a minute.)"]
As he skillfully parked the car in the parking lot, Leon told me to wait and headed off somewhere. And, as if I was a country boy, I looked around the surroundings.
It seemed like the Weber State University team color was purple. Here and there I noticed flags with a big "W" in gray letters with a purple background. The magnificent view of Ogden mountains in the background of WSU quickly captured my attention. 
As the spring quarter began, WSU was bustling with students walking in groups.
American universities usually began in August and continued until December and they called it the "winter semester". After a short winter break, they resumed mid or late January until May, which is called the "spring semester".
I will take the SAT1 in March and will officially begin classes in August. 
Of course, I will start basketball right after I take the SAT1. Right now, studying and English were the most important thing for me to do. When it comes to training, it only consists of running and light weight training.
In order to keep my basketball skills, Leon will help me out once in a while.
"(Sorry about that. I had to wake up my girlfriend. I'm addicted to Talisha's butt.)"
"Hahahaha."
It seemed that Leon forgot at times that I can't completely understand what he was saying.
"(Good. Shall we head out?)"

It seemed like Leon was quite popular in WSU.
Both guys and girls would greet him, at times wondering who this Asian guy following him around was. Most people didn't even notice me there.
"(Oh. Here he comes.)"
"Huh?"
"(Since David's not here I figured you'd need someone to translate for you.)"
We stopped in front of a red-bricked wall and Leon pointed to a blonde-haired guy and talked.
Did he say translate?
"(Kim? This is Garrick. Garrick? Meet Kim.)"

"I study a little bit of Korean. So, I know a little."
Gerrick had a Korean girlfriend who he planned to marry after graduating. He even traveled to Korea a few times, he said he liked Busan and Jinju the most.

"Hahaha. I've never been there, so I don't really know."
As we conversed like that, I looked around.
Because Leon and Gerrick were both very nice guys, I couldn't wait to experience WSU as a student. 
"(Cool, should we head to the basketball court?)"
Since it was in the middle of the season, the WSU team was in the middle of practice. For the first time, I would be able to see first-hand what level American college teams are at. 
My heart was beating so fast, I couldn't wait much longer.

When I was younger, the NBA was a stage that I could only dream of being on.
Michael Jordan wasn't of my generation, neither was L.A Lakers' Shaq or Kobe, or when the "beat L.A" chants were famous. I was too young at that time.
I am the generation of when Lebron James invaded Detroit, the superstar Big 3's Boston Celtics, or NBA's most historic team, San Antonio Spurs.
As I began playing basketball at an international level, the more I played, the more the NBA seemed to be like a huge wall.
After winning on the Boston Celtics, Kevin Garnett yelled out "everything is possible!" to the crowds. But that almost felt like a lie to me. The NBA's slogan "Where Amazing Happens" seemed to be false.
And today, for the first time ever, watched how someone who was closest to the NBA-level would play like. 
"(Very good! Good job, D!)"
Damian Lillard was most likely going to be nominated for the 2012 draft lottery. 
The NBA has 30 different teams and the 14 teams that are eliminated during playoffs get their turn for the draft according to their grades in reverse order. This is called a draft lottery.
Therefore, Lillard will most likely be nominated in at least one of the 14.
"Whew, sorry. We're a bit late, huh?"

"Hey. What are you doing?"
David took a little longer to find WSU because he was busy taking care of things we needed.
I felt a little sorry for him, but I couldn't take my eyes off of Lillard. Rather than it being a team training day, it was more of an individual conditioning day. 
After warming up a bit, Lillard lightly shot the ball a few times to control his pace. Afterward, he spent time with the coach to practice dribbling. It couldn't even be compared to the dribbling practice we would do in Korea.
He would dribble 3 balls in total, using both hands, passing one to the coach simultaneously. As if he put glue on his hands, Lillard did not lose the balls even once. 
Afterward, he practiced his forward movement with a defense player or practiced his jump shots. 
"Amazing."
"Hmm?"
"Seriously, wow. He's really good."
Lillard was the real deal.
What I was saying is, he made the players I met in California seem like little kids. Of course, Mater Dei and West Chester were high school teams, but there was only a slight difference with WSU. 
Then what is this outrageously big gap coming from?
"So, you have to be at that skill level to play for the NBA?"
"Well, Lillard is quite special. He's a lottery player? There are up to 60 people for the draft."
"But still. This is just…"
As David saw that I was at a loss of words, he seemed to have figured out that I was a bit intimidated. So, he began to massage my shoulders, saying that I can grow plenty after 4 years at WSU.
He said compared to everything that I've learned in Korea, I will learn a lot more in just 1 year. He was saying that to make me feel better, but I was still a bit anxious.
"Don't worry too much, Minhyuk."
David told me about Lillard's past.
Before he graduated high school, Lillard was ranked top 48 point guards on ESPN. Not out of all positions, but just point guards. That meant he was graded as an average player.
However, under the Stanley's direction, he was able to unleash his full potential. Right as he was admitted to the school, he gained a starter position in WSU and led them to the conference championships. 
Since WSU wasn't considered to be a strong team, it didn't leave a big impact. But Lillard was able to leave a good impression on NBA officials. 
David was telling me it would be for my best to trust in Stanley.
"…!!!"
"Huh?"
"Huh??"
Too distracted by watching Lillard practice, we didn't notice Stanley motioning us over to him. 
As we saw him motioning us over to him, David and I stood up from the bleachers and walked down to him. All the WSU players and staff were gathered around Stanley.
"(I want to introduce to everyone a new friend of ours. Min. Hyuk?)"
After hearing my names a few times, he properly introduces me by Minhyuk instead of Kim. I was a bit shy at first, but thanks to Leon clapping for me, I was able to muster up some courage. 
As Stanley told me to introduce myself, I opened my mouth in front of all the guys staring at me.
"(H-hi. I'm Kim Minhyuk, and I'm from Korea. Uh. I'm very honored to be at WSU.)"
"... (That's it?)"
"Huh? Oh, uh... (I'll do my best!)"
"Hahaha."
As Leon let out a loud, welcoming laugh, the rest of the WSU players clapped and welcomed me to their team. It was common for a student to go abroad to play basketball. As they clapped, the players looked over to Stanley with serious expressions. 
Stanley began to deliver a heated speech to hype up his players for their game against Idaho State that will be played later this afternoon, saying that they have to win this game no matter what.
There's a game this afternoon?
"Oh. Did I not tell you? We're going to watch this game later."

The plane Gun-Ho was on landed at Hongqiao International Airport in Shanghai, China.
Gun-Ho became busy looking at the surroundings such as buildings and business signs once he got off the plain.
"Is this your first time in China?"
"Huh? Oh, yes, it's my first time."
"This airport is an old airport like Gimpo International Airport in our country. There is a new airport in Pudong, just like Incheon International Airport in Korea. That's why a flight leaving Incheon lands in Pudong, and a flight leaving Gimpo lands in Hongquio."
"Oh, I see."
"Since this airport has been here for a long time, you can find Korean restaurants and Korean consulate in this area. The branch offices of many Korean banks such as Industrial Bank of Korea and Kookmin Bank for Shanghai are all located here as well."
Mr. Byeon showed Gun-Ho the Korean consulate and the Korean bank branch offices.
"I chose this flight route to this location for our trip because you might use this airport frequently in the future. We actually have an airport close to Hangzhou City where my restaurant is located and that would be the fastest route to get to the restaurant. However, I chose this airport for your future convenience."
Gun-Ho didn't pay too much attention to what Mr. Byeon had said. He was too busy looking at the people on the street and the buildings in the area.
"We can take an express bus here to Hangzhou City. It takes about two hours."
Mr. Byeon took Gun-Ho to the express bus terminal. The terminal looked similar to the one in the province in Korea.
"Hangzhou City is like a state capital. You can think of it as a city where a provincial government is located. It could be Daegu City or Gwangju City in Korea."
The express bus looked the same as the one in Korea. After passing by a huge Canola flower field, they arrived at Hangzhou City; it was already after sunset. Hangzhou was a big city like Shanghai. Gun-Ho and Mr. Byeon took a taxi after getting off the bus. Mr. Byeon was fluent in Chinese. He said something to the taxi driver, and the driver nodded his head.
"I told him we want to go to Mando Hotel located in Haebang road. My restaurant is located on the 8th floor in the same building."
"8th floor?"
Gun-Ho frowned as soon as he heard 8th floor. Gun-Ho thought the first floor was a better location for high foot traffic. 'Can they get customers on the 8th floor?' Gun-Ho thought. Mr. Byeon explained when he sensed Gun-Ho's disappointment about the location of the restaurant.
"The restaurant has an excellent view from the 8th floor. In addition, it is one of the few Korean restaurants in Hangzhou City, so we do get many customers even if it is on the 8th floor including tourist customers in a group occasionally."
Gun-Ho thought tourist groups should be very good customers for a restaurant. However, the fact that he couldn't speak Chinese bothered him. He had to rely on Mr. Byeon for every single thing.
 
They arrived at Mando Hotel. It was not a huge hotel but looked cozy. Gun-Ho had seen other hotels from their taxi ride on their way here; they were all big, unlike this Mando Hotel. Gun-Ho and Mr. Byeon went up to the 8th floor in the elevator. There was a standing signboard that said 'Korean Restaurant' written in Chinese inside the elevator.
As Gun-Ho and Mr. Byeon entered into the restaurant, the restaurant staff greeted them without bowing though. No one even slightly bent their head to greet them. They all said something in Chinese, which Gun-Ho couldn't understand at all. Gun-Ho looked around and he was amazed.
"The restaurant is very large and clean maybe because it is located in the same building as a hotel. Even the floor was carpeted."
Gun-Ho had a hard time believing this large and clean restaurant is only 50 million won. He then realized when he was about to leave the restaurant that he wouldn't get anything since there was no security deposit required.
"That means I have to make a profit and save that profit up during the whole time I'm running the restaurant. If I look at it that way, 50 million won is not cheap."
The restaurant had about 20 tables, and only two of them were occupied at that time. Mr. Byeon asked Gun-Ho to sit and wait for him in the backside of the restaurant. Mr. Byeon started talking with the staff. It seemed like the restaurant staff was reporting the things that happened during Mr. Byeon's absence. After a moment, Mr. Byeon came to Gun-Ho with a lady who looked like in her mid-20s.
"She is one of our staff; she is doing interpretation too."
"I'm Mae-Hyang Kim." She spoke in Korean.
She extended her hand for a handshake with a smile. She seemed like a Korean living in China.
"I'm Gun-Ho Goo."
Mr. Byeon then said as Gun-Ho and Mae-Hyang shook their hands,
"We have eight staff in total here. Ms. Mae-Hyang Kim is our serving staff, and she also does the interpreting. I don't ask her often for interpreting, but if you take over this restaurant, you will probably need her pretty often for interpreting. She is a very good interpreter."
Gun-Ho looked at Mae-Hyang again.
"Are you a Korean Chinese by any chance?"
"That's right."
Mae-Hyang responded with a smile on her round face. She had a bit of an outdated style but she was cute.
"Who is the cashier? Mr. Byeon, are you the one who is handling money?"
"No. We have a local lady from here in Hangzhou City. Do you see the lady over there who is taking payment from a customer?"
"Oh, I see."
"I've reserved your room in this hotel for your convenience. Your room is downstairs, number 706. Here is the room key. I've already talked to the hotel manager to give you a discounted price for your room."
"Haha, I appreciate it."
"Why don't you unpack your luggage in your room and change clothes before dinner. I will meet you in the lobby after an hour. Let's have dinner in the Chinese restaurant across the street."
"That sounds great."
 
The hotel was small but it had everything it needed. The room was as good as a newly constructed motel in a province in Korea. Gun-Ho took a shower and walked out of the bathroom.
"Oh, TV is here."
Gun-Ho turned on the TV.
A Chinese news anchor was talking in Chinese on TV. Gun-Ho, of course, had no idea what that news anchor was talking about. There was a brochure on the table next to the TV. It was a hotel brochure and a map for tourists.
"They are all written in Chinese letters. I had learned Chinese letters but these look different from what I had learned."
Gun-Ho studied Chinese writing and reading and obtained a level-3 certificate for it in addition to a certificate for Korean history. It was a part of the preparation process for government and private sector jobs. So he was supposed to be able to read Chinese letters, but he could recognize only a few letters from the brochure.
"I guess this part explains about the emergency exit, but all I can read is the word 'safety'."
Gun-Ho laid down on the bed while thinking.
"The restaurant is nice and neat but I'm not sure if I can make money with it."
At that moment, the phone started to ring.
"Hello?"
Gun-Ho answered the phone in English; 'hello' was one of the few English words he knew.
"I'm Hee-Yeol Byeon. It's almost time. Let's meet in the lobby downstairs."
 
Mr. Byeon took Gun-Ho to the restaurant across the street. There were two huge lights about the size of a desk hanging on the main entrance. The restaurant name was Seohochancheong.
"Wow, it is a very big restaurant."
The restaurant's serving staff were standing by at the entrance side like a guard before they assist their customers. One of them brought a menu book to Gun-Ho and Mr. Byeon. While Gun-Ho couldn't read any of it, Mr. Byeon started placing orders proficiently pointing certain dishes listed on the menu book.
"How long should I stay in China to speak Chinese fluently like you?"
"I don't speak Chinese fluently at all. I've been here for seven years, but you will learn very quickly since you are young."
"You are so modest, Mr. Byeon. You have spent seven years in China. That's amazing."
"I'm not just saying it, but you would be able to speak Chinese probably within two years. Let's have Chinese alcohol, Baijinwoo, the Kaoliang wine. I will talk to you more about my restaurant while we are eating."

This is the story of a poor young man whose poverty even shreds apart their family willing to climb his way through society and into the top. A very realistic novel that moves away from fantasy and sci-fi and focuses solely on the issues of society and life.

With final exams looming closer Yukio firmly pushed the scandal aside. Besides, apart from their English teacher most of the school staff had been surprisingly quiet about Urufu's and Kuri's rumoured night-time activities.
Now he sat in the inner room of the Stockholm Haven café which had been fully converted into their new club-room just in time for the cessation of all club activities in preparation of their exams.
Noriko sat together with Kuri going through math problems with the famous model turned slut. By their side Sango-chan and Kyoko ran through the same problems but at a distinctly higher pace and without Noriko's help.
"And this one?" Ryu asked from Yukio's right.
"Same. Look, if you replace the numbers with letters it's a lot easier to detect the pattern," Urufu said.
"Pattern?" That was Nori-kun, and Yukio noted how another two club-members congregated around them to follow Urufu's explanation.
'Now this is just hysterically funny,' Yukio thought. Urufu the flunky teaching math. 'But he's not really a flunky is he? Didn't he have a college exam from engineering?'
"Yes, by token substitution you'll be able to immediately identify equalities on both sides and remove them. Clears the real problem from excess data. See the pattern now?" Urufu said and crossed out almost a third of the information on the whiteboard.
Yukio watched him leave the white-board and walk over to the one where another group were struggling with English. Despite bombing that topic on his midterms virtually every club-member knew his English knowledge was superior to what any teacher at school could muster.
'And I think you have a better grasp of Japanese history than I do by now. What kind of study monster are you?'
Truth be told the only thing that kept Urufu from popping up on the wall was his written Japanese. By now Yukio recognised the difference when Urufu spoke about or listened to the material they had to study compared to when he was forced to rely on his reading skills.
'And you're closing that gap as well. It's scary how much better you are at reading and writing now.'
Kuri was the same. Even though she paled in comparison to Urufu, her Japanese had improved by huge strides since summer. That realisation made Yukio a bit uncomfortable. He hadn't known how important the preferred language was for grading other subjects.
'Would I look like an idiot if I had to go to school abroad? Or even Noriko?' Yukio pushed the last thought away. Noriko failing exams was ludicrous. She was one of the best freshmen at Himekaizen after all, with results that probably placed Todai within reach of her aspirations.
In the background he heard Urufu's strangely melodic explanation when he gave examples in Japanese for the English text they were analysing. Whenever he read a sentence aloud for the group to hear the correct pronunciation Kuri interrupted him with a laugh and read it twice. As far as Yukio understood she delivered one version in some kind of British English and then in American English.
Urufu grimaced but never protested. Instead he told his group they should listen to Kuri because her spoken English far surpassed his.
"How good is she?" Yukio shouted when he tired of Urufu belittling himself.
Everyone by the whiteboard turned, and Yukio saw Kuri glance at Urufu rather than the one to blame for the interruption.
"Depends," Urufu said. "As for pronunciation she bulldozes right over me. There's no comparison."
"Depends?" Kuri said to test the waters.
"Well, I'd guess your vocabulary is between half to two thirds of mine. What's your take?"
"Spoken, close to ten thousand words," Kuri suggested and grinned.
"Damn! You're just as good as I suspected."
"And you? Native level is around fifteen thousand."
"Native college level, yeah. I'm above that average."
Kuri's eyebrows shot up. "What kind of vocabulary do you have?"
"The tests couldn't measure above sixteen thousand, so I don't really know."
Kuri palmed her face. "He killed the test. Why am I not surprised?"
"What tests?" Sango-chan asked.
Both Kuri and Yukio shot Urufu warning glares.
"There were some… ah..." Then Urufu must have caught up with the looks he got from the friends who knew about his first life. "Ah, there are proficiency tests, and I took a few before moving here," he finished.
'You took a few before moving here. Well that's one way of expressing it.'
"You took a few tests at college level?"
'You're not out of the woods yet. Think, think!'
It was painfully visible how Urufu tried to come up with a plausible explanation, but in the end he lit up in a bright grin. "I like programming, and most of the literature is in English, so I needed to learn it to read the books."
That had to suffice, and from what Urufu had said earlier it partially explained his knowledge of math.
"But you failed your midterms," came a less than helpful comment from Nori-kun.
Urufu's face clouded over. "I didn't in Sweden," he said in a subdued voice.
"Huh?" That was Nori-kun again.
"Guys," Kuri said. "Here in Japan we're graded on how well we can express our English knowledge in Japanese, but neither Ulf nor I are Japanese. When we translate we usually translate from English to Swedish in our heads."
'And that's a lie,' Yukio thought. 'You both told me you don't translate at all any longer.' Then it struck him why Urufu had lived through such problems with his Japanese, and a moment later Yukio understood how Urufu's spoken Japanese had developed so insanely fast the last months. 'You've stopped translating Japanese as well!'
With that line of thought something clicked inside his head. Suddenly Urufu's explanation of learning models made sense. 'Learn the rules, break the rules, write the rules' Urufu used to say when he tried to describe what he called analytic-synthetic learning or reverse triple loop learning.

We finally come out of the plane and see lots of fans waiting for us 
It was hard trying to get through fans were pulling, pushing
I hugged Gigi because I was scared

We finally make it to the middle of the airport and one side of the fans fall over all most everyone because of people pushing and screaming

James Corden: hello Hollywood this is the James Corden show and today me and my parents traveled the world and we asked the fans to choose where we should go and what should we discover in that country and the pick was South Korea 🇰🇷 and we have to experience kpop. What is kpop ok I will explain kpop is korean pop music and it is now very global spreading worldwide and I interview some Kpop groups and fans asking what is their favorite group and who is your favorite. But before I tell you who go the most votes I will ask the audience. Any Kpop fans in the house make some noise!!!!!

Lots of people screamed and James went to the audience and went to these two girls 
James: hello what is your name
???: my name is Kayla and this is my best friend Sarah

Kayla: well Kpop is Korean pop music and your favorite member is called your bias the fans are very insane about their favorites and be careful about what you say because you will get attacked even get death threats but Kpop is very popular because of the art, visuals, music, and dances it the next level of music it's a very powerful genre but also one of the most toxic one people are very nasty when their favorite didn't get attention or get honest opinions from other fans or people. Their are famous group like BTS, Moon, Blackpink, Twice, Got7, Monsta X, NCT, EXO, Red Velvet, ATEEZ, Wanna One, Winner, TXT, Seventeen, and Kard my favorite is Moon because their music is amazing and never disappoint, my favorite is Zhenzhen because she is very talented, and beautiful at a young age, she is a sweetheart, and the definition of joy, even through she is in the entertainment industry very young she is one of the best and deserves it because she was train at 9 years old she is now 12 but her birthday is in a few months so I am proud of her. She makes lots of history at a young age and is a example of motivation she is just a wonderful person and she is finally getting her moment to shine but her group just debut like a couple months ago and her group is already on charts and breaking records. 

James: wow!! She is very young when I was 12 I was fighting over food and through I was a rapper. Sarah: I am a BTS fan but I am just getting into Moon and my favorite is Zhenzhen and Gigi I like them because they are me and Kayla and they are very relatable and their music is very different from other groups and they will take your wig and leave you speechless and the views they get is crazy the get over 300M views in hours also they are one of the most famous group in the world. 
James: wow I never met some passionate fans in my life. Anyway Kayla and Sarah are correct most of the fan answer Moon. Moon is the famous girl group in the world and they a rookie group that debut a couple months ago 
James: we have these amazing ladies here today backstage going to perform their recent comeback called very very very but first we are going to interview the girls. So please put you hands together for The goddess of space, MOON!!!

A little girl that is a trainee at SM Entertainmentand she is willing to do anything to make history by being the youngest idol in Korea

The first time Subin ever watched 'Peter Pan' was when she was six years old. After watching the film, Subin was convinced that the likes of fairies and pirates and mermaids were real. She had often believed that one day, Peter would visit her room at night and whisk her away to Neverland and she would soar high above London, past Big Ben, St. Paul's Cathedral and even, Buckingham Palace.

Subin truly believed that Peter would teach her how to fly.

So, when she flew on a plane for the first time, she was excited to think that she might somehow fly past Neverland in the process.

"Yoongi, can you see Neverland?" she remembered her six-year-old-self ask.

Yoongi scowled at her from the window seat. He had been napping before his little sister had shaken him awake just to ask a silly question. "No, of course not" he snapped. He was always cranky after waking up. "Neverland doesn't exist, stupid."

"Yes, it does!" she insisted. "Peter says it's the second star to the right and—"

"—Straight on till morning" Yoongi finished. "Yeah, yeah, I've seen the film, Subin. And Neverland isn't real. We're going to South Korea, not Neverland." He turned to face the window and refused to talk to her again throughout the whole flight.

Subin was disappointed to hear Yoongi dismiss Neverland so easily. She knew they were going to South Korea, but she didn't really care. The only place she cared about was Neverland.

And when Subin and her family finally arrived in South Korea, instead of feeling excited, she was shocked. South Korea was nothing at all like how she'd imagined.

Raised in England, Subin had become accustomed to being surrounded by people of different ethnicities. In her class, she had made friends with children that were tall, short, dark-skinned, fair-skinned, skinny and chubby. She had friends who were originally from India, Hong Kong, Philippines, Poland and the Caribbean: almost every country you could think of, someone in her class was probably once from there.

Subin had grown up in a diverse society and was proud to say that she was the representative for Korea in her class. It had made her feel important, irreplaceable, exotic. But when she visited South Korea for the first time, that sense of individuality suddenly evaporated into thin air. She wasn't unique anymore. She was just one amongst a million.

"Are you excited, Subin-ah?" her dad had asked her as they climbed into a taxi. "You're going to meet your grandma for the first time."

Subin, still recovering from seeing so many Koreans, was sceptical. She gaped up at her dad. "What if she doesn't like me?"

"Why wouldn't she like you?" her dad questioned. "You're her granddaughter so of course, she'll like you!"

"But, dad, I can't speak Korean" Subin fussed. She looked up at him doubtfully, "Will she be able to understand me? Can she speak English?"

Her dad just gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Subin-ah. Everything will be okay."

And her dad was right.

When she finally met her grandma, she was surprised to discover how friendly she was.

"Subin-ah, my dear" she would coo every time Subin appeared in front of her. "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?" Her grandma would peer at her with honeyed eyes as she spoke endearingly in Korean. Thankfully, Yoongi was always there to translate.

"She's asking if you want to eat" he would tell her. And Subin would either nod or shake her head.

After a few days with her grandma, Subin had grown very attached to her. She was a kind, old lady who lived alone. Her grandpa had passed away before she was born, and her aunts and uncle had moved to other parts of South Korea. Subin learned that her mom was the only one of her siblings that left home completely. After marrying her dad, her mom had moved to the UK, where Subin was later born.

On the last day of their holiday, her grandma had taken her to her private study, which was a library filled to the brim with books. Subin remembered thinking how Belle, from 'Beauty and the Beast', would have sung in glee if she had walked into the library with her.

"I want to show you something important," her grandma said as she signalled for Subin to sit down on her lap. After two weeks of being immersed in Korean, Subin finally had a basic grasp of the language.

Subin followed her grandma to a comfy chair and sat on her lap obediently. Once she was comfortable, her grandma pulled out a large book and carefully opened it.

"This is my life's work" she explained in Korean. "Before I retired, I used to be a History teacher."

"You were a teacher?" Subin repeated in English while gaping behind her.

Her grandma nodded. "I love History a lot." She pointed to her book while she spoke, "Some people say that living in the past is counterproductive, but I believe that to move forward, sometimes we need to learn from mistakes made in the past."

Subin peered at her grandma quizzically.

Seeing her reaction, her grandma chuckled. "I guess that was a little complicated for you, huh?" She gestured at the book in her hands and told her, "Look, Subin-ah, this is what Korea was like a long, long time ago."

Subin gazed down at the book and inspected the beautifully printed pictures of ladies adorned in colourful robes. The art style was ancient and unfamiliar but nonetheless captivating.

"This is Kim Gyuri" her grandma pointed out. "She was a princess who allegedly brought down the House of Kim."

"She's a princess?" Subin echoed dubiously. The woman in the picture didn't look like a princess at all—she was wearing neither a tiara nor a gigantic frock.

"Yes," her grandma affirmed. "But you know what? Kim Gyuri may be our ancestor."

"Our... ancestor?"

Her grandma nodded. When she saw Subin's puzzled expression she elaborated, "That means she might be related to us."

Subin looked down at the picture again and noticed the jade ring on her grandma's hand. It was a deep shade of green that contrasted with her milky skin. Noticing Subin's stare, her grandma brought her hand closer so that Subin had a better view.

"It's pretty, isn't it?"

Subin nodded in agreement.

"This ring was passed down my family for many generations" her grandma explained. "But no one knows who owned it first and why it has been in our family for so long." She pulled it off her middle finger and gave it to Subin to hold. Subin inspected the ring closely and noticed that there was something written inside.

"Did you know that only the rich could afford jade?" her grandma asked as Subin wore the ring. It hung loosely around her small, infantile forefinger. "One day," her grandma began, "I will pass this down to you."

"You will?" Subin was surprised.

Her grandma nodded. "You must never lose it, okay? This ring will bring you back to your roots. It will bring you back to where you belong."

Subin stared at the jade ring in fascination.

Transported to an unknown era, Subin, a teenage girl raised with western values, wakes up in the body of a serf. In this unknown land, she encounters the aristocratic Kim brothers and finds herself entangled in the webs of deceit; woven by rivalry, politics and hunger for power.

In this new world he couldn't hear very well and as he opened his eyes he could only detect some motion and light. Yet not at a very level, he could make out the face of a man who's quite plump which he figures to be his father.

Then he was placed into the arms of his mother who was very weak from the birth of her baby. Then the mother began speaking something in korean with a very warm tongue, which he doesn't quite make sense of.

Laying in the bed inside the nursery room Tony decided in his heart, 'In this world I'm Duke from now on. I'll never let anyone bully me like they did in that story. No one shall lay even a finger on me!'

*Now the MC will be referred as Duke 

In this new world, Duke quickly grew fluent in understanding the korean language within two months of his parents teaching him the basics at home. And took his first step at 7 months and spoke his first audible syllables at 8 months. 

Besides his grandma which Duke frequently sees on a regular basis, his parents are always busy at work. One day at age 5 his parents had a car crash which really impacted Duke's perspective on life despite being an adult and having undergone death. 

Standing with his tiny body peering down at the two caskets, a sense of sadness still reached his heart. Even though they are not his true parents, there are still many feelings that are attached over the years. 

Breathing a small sigh Duke's eyes looks slightly misty,  'When death commands, thy can only follow.' In the funeral gathering there was only his grandma and there were no other relatives that came to say goodbye. 

Steering his eyes upwards Duke slightly scoffs at the commonalities in both worlds, 'Where there's wealth, there are friends. Where there's poverty, there are none.' His grandma was on her knees sobbing at how her child has left this world earlier than herself.

Duke still remembers how in the future her grandmother would still be working and selling rice cakes and udon in her tiny stall. He made a commitment, 'I will never allow anyone to treat my grandma like Vin Jin. I'll take care of this family from today forward.'

For the next year Duke did 100 pushups, 100 sit ups,  100 squats, and a 10km everyday. Although at the beginning it was very difficult for a 5 year old to do. However, the help of his high Soul Power increased his body's composition which allowed him to adjust to it after a few months.

So by the time he started first grade he had increased that number to 500 pushups, 500 sit ups, 500 squats, while maintaining the 10k. Today after finishing the 10km run and got home to take a shower, he clenched his fist to feel the newfound strength that is coursing through his body.

The amazing strength is almost unbelievable for a 6 years old. Not only is he much stronger than the original Duke he's also much more lean for his young age. Although there's not much muscle development at this stage. 

After getting out of the shower, it is time to eat breakfast. In comparison to the original home in Lookism this home is much more comfortable. Instead of saving the money from the insurance in an account Duke convinced his grandmother to allow him to use the money for a desktop computer.

And from there Duke spent much of his time during this year to write a popular English book called "The Shining". Despite having an eidetic memory of every word in the book it was still quite difficult and took him 5 months to translate into Korean.

And at first he thought of commissioning the book to US publishing houses. But realize it is much less efficient in this period of time since the internet is still not largely popular. Hence it might be difficult to send the manuscript.

And after sending out the manuscript to a popular korean publishing housing under an anonymous name it was well received. Furthermore the popularity of The Shining spread like a wildfire across South Korea. 

Now everybody wants to know who this mysterious author is. But Duke doesn't care about being an author and chose to focus on creating additional. After 3 months he also published the 2nd part of the series, and was able to gather enough money for his grandma to quit her stall business.

As Duke went into the kitchen he saw his grandma already prepared breakfast for him. Seeing her beloved grandson she smiled and said, "You must be hungry Duke. Have something to eat before going to school."

She's the last relative in this world and Duke feels eternally grateful to have her by his side, "Thanks Grand, I'll just walk to school today you don't have to walk me. I'll make sure to watch before crossing the street."
His grandma smiling at her now grown independent grandchild, "Ho ho, looks like Duke is all grown up now." She knows that her dear grandchild is very mature for his age and can do many unbelievable things. From an early age he is already a very responsible child. 

As Duke walked to the elementary school and looked at all these children with their parents he cannot help but be a little reminiscent, 'If my parents were alive they would also be with me now.' Seeing all the smiling little faces he can't help but feel hopeful for this new beginning.

Tony died once before in his former life and now he gets the chance to turn back time. 

Returning to when he was 18 when everything was fresh and new. Additionally he gets a system that can increase his Soul Power.
