Alright, boy-ohs and girlies, I've tried my best, I really have, but writing is way harder than I could have ever imagined. I'm at 216 chapter, 218 if you count *******, and about 90-95% of the story has been written without much consideration for outlining. A while ago, I started a wiki for the novel to try to keep track of everything and only now am I starting to understand the magnitude of the mistakes I've made writing up to this point.

Anyway, the announcement this time is to let you know that my writing pace hasn't simply slowed. I'm just taking the majority of my time chronicling everything that's happened and will happen and thinking up solutions to the problems that I've detected in the logic of the story; or plotholes. I'll probably take a while and until I'm confident in where the story will head, I'll continue putting out a depressingly low number of chapters every week.

It feels wrong to not say anything and even worse keeping my ******* collecting despite the obvious downgrade to my writing speed. So, despite my obvious bias in wanting to keep Patreons, I'd caution everyone supporting me to only continue doing so if you're fine with the current situation. Webnovel, Royalroad and my ******* all keep publishing dates on the chapters I release, so you can keep track of my writing speed by looking there; until you feel it's worth it, reconsider wasting your time or money during these unstable times. I probably should have made this announcement sooner, considering the downgrade to my writing speed has been around for a month's worth of time, so I apologize.

I'll be putting out chapters when I can, but the majority of my focus right now is revisiting already published chapters, touching them up and documenting whatever I can in the novel's wiki page. Anyone wondering where I'm at can check the wiki page and even contribute if they're bored enough. That is all for now~

UPDATE (December 29th, 2019)
Alright, I'm about to get really real and admit to being a really shitty author these last three to four months. Truth be told, I really did want to take time to update the wiki and figure out how to handle what I thought were this novel's biggest failings in plot holes. However, to do that and find details that might have only been mentioned in passing, I had to eventually turn to rereading entire chapters.

Guys... I'm being as sincere as I possibly can right now. I have no fucking clue how I've developed a following after rereading the first couple chapters. I understand that authors can grow a lot after a year, but it hasn't even been that long and I believe the first hundred chapters are Trash with a capital T. It's borderline unreadable (upon proofreading this tirade, this might be a mild exaggeration, but it is true to my thoughts nonetheless) and the fact that I have nearly 4,000 followers after combining the collections on Webnovel with those following on RoyalRoad is incomprehensible to me. There are still even 19 people supporting me on ******* when I haven't released squat in nearly two months!

I've tried to ignore this. I've tried to work on other books. Hell I've even messed around with fanfiction, hoping to one day wake up and see everyone gone. Like the book had never existed. But like I said, there are still 4,000 people waiting for releases. More joining by the day and people still supporting the novel with spirits stones. Even 19 who value two chapters being at least a dollar.

Every time I think I'm ready to move on, ready to completely shut down the novel to start a new one, I think about those people and realize, "I'm a fucking bitch. Just finish the fucking novel, idiot." The passing of time has only made the feeling worse, so I guess this is a message consigning myself to completing this book, by any means necessary. I won't be able to focus on another story otherwise, so this update is more for me than for my audience.

That being said, the reason I felt inclined to give up on the novel in the first place was because of how terrible I found my writing from a nearly a year ago. So, I want to stress that I'm not going chuck a bunch of shit together to finish the story. Rather, I'm going to go back and rewrite things as I continue to catalogue things on the wiki.

Last couple things I want to quickly mention:

- I haven't really used any of the money I've made on ******* so I want to commission a legit book cover. Ditch that shit I made with my lacking Photoshop Skills...

-More on the money thing, after I finish rewriting the novel — it'll mostly be editing details that make the book seem less like it was written by an amateur, so the story progression won't at all change — I plan on also hiring people to format Book 1 and eventually Book 2 into legit e-reader and paperback formats. I know, I know...

"Greedy author, have you no shame?" 

Honestly, I want to follow pirate aba's style of keeping everything free, and I will. I'm not going to enter a contract with Webnovel or paywall chapters through kindle. However, for the people who for whatever reason want to have a kindle or physical copy of this (current dumpster fire of a) novel, I want it to at least be possible. There's also the benefit of gaining new readers through Amazon this way which is always a plus. 

Like the G.O.A.T. pirate aba — check out her (I think it's a her) book The Wandering Inn — I'll keep all the chapters on Webnovel and Royalroad free. Though the ******* thing will still be in effect at least until I finish the series or whatever.

-Since I'm rewriting the novel for the most part, I'll make more announcements as I continue updating the novel; meaning adding on to the story (Chapter 219, 220, etc...)

Unless it becomes too annoying and people request against it, I'll be adding "Revised" to Chapters that have been, well... revised.

-I'm going to be having some polls on RoyalRoad on a couple important things as I start getting back into the grind of updating this novel.

Namely: Should I change the name of the novel? If so, to what? What would you guys like the book cover to look like? Should I change the name of the Books/Arcs?

After a great deal of preparation, Danika begins her new digital dragon's life in a very small way.

But in the end, will the game be able to figure out what Danika wants most? Will the desires of other players take priority? Or, will playing it change her, until she desires what it can give her?

A journey is always made up of many small steps, and this game has still only just begun.

I Let Out A Tired Sigh. I quickly remove all of my clothes, down the remaining coffee in the mug and jump into the shower. I wash the frustration out of my hair and calm my body for a while. Once I'm sure all the warm water is done for, I dry myself and put on some fresh and crispy pair of pyjamas and comfortable baggy t-shirt and jump onto the couch. I open my silver laptop and as if all the weight is back again.

I've been trying to prepare the cover for my new chapbook, "Sea Full Of Stars" for the past three days now. I'm not a visual artist and hiring one costs too much and I'm too broke to spend bills on softwares. It's never easy being a writer. Writing itself can be such a lonely process, although it is my first home. But then I have to design a cover that is not only catchy, mysterious and unique but also conversely uninhibited. Great. I spend hours trying to find the right website that'll let me make one for free.

For a minute there, I sit back tired and almost defeated. What if books didn't have covers, I think to myself. I could've saved all this hassle and been sleeping on my lonely bed in peace. I'd be "Netflix and Chilling" on my phone. I'd probably have been writing something new.

But what about all the books I've read? I confess that I've also once trusted the image more than the not-so-convincing texts. The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald with it's original art work is a stunning masterpiece. The eyes, the blue and the glam packed in it's dressing is an unbelievable turn on for any reader. But then again it wasn't designed by Fitzgerald himself. It was illustrated by Francis Cugat, a little known artist back then. It was the Gatsby that made me realise that it is an art to cover the book with a cape.

The same cannot be said for all the other books in my collection. Interpreter Of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri or Pablo Neruda's Love don't have the most convincing covers. I bought those books for the rave reviews I'd heard of them.

I do know that Rupi Kaur illustrated her own books. I get up and bring out all the poetry books that I own and try to fathom the making of their book art. The simplicity in Rupi's artwork is really appealing, but on the other hand Atticus's books look way too fancy. But the one thing they had in common is that their book covers were exactly what their book title said.

I too want my cover to reflect the idea and spirit of my book. But I don't know anyone who can design a book cover. Or who understands or reads my book or my art. I don't have my Francis Cugat.

I turn back to my computer, reducing it's brightness first because outside it's turning dark and I don't want to turn the light on just yet. I make a mental conversation with myself that if it doesn't work this time, I'll just use a template by Kindle Direct Publishing.

This time I go to YouTube and type 'how to make a paperback book cover for free' and hit Enter. The first video is of a middle-aged white man on the thumbnail, his hair slightly brown and a straight face. I click on it. The video starts demonstrating the process of making an easy to go book cover on this website called Canva.

I've used this app on my phone before but I never knew it could be used for making a paperback dress. I go to the site and follow all the instructions. I choose the image very mindfully, edit it, use the right fonts and change the colors. I do the same with the back cover and add a piece of poetry there. Then I keep following the instructions and after failing countless times, I make the perfect book cover for my latest collection.

I wipe the tears of joy slipping down my cheeks. I know I haven't made the best or make-you-pick-the-book-up kind of cover, but I'm happy.

I realise that I'm more happy because I could finally do something that fits the rules of the modern mass publishing world. I did something that will make people want to give me a look.

If it was upto me, I'd have the cover completely black or yellow and only bare my name and the name of the book. But that's not the case. I just smile with the fact that I made something that reflects the imagery or mood of my book. And I know that even with the exhausting role my cover will play, it won't ever gain the respect it deserves.

I go to bed hungry and drift off.

 In the alternate past, the thirtieth floor of the tower was considered the end of the lower floors and the beginning of the middle floors. Even though it wasn't that high of a floor, it was still filled with people until the end times. Besides the dungeons that provided endless gear and materials, the war between the six kingdoms raged on. 

 Residents of the tower were separated into two groups on this floor. Peasants and nobles. The peasants were allocated land were upon they would farm and grow crops. They would provide the kingdom they belonged to with their product for a small profit. The only other occupation they had was to become a soldier and wage war against the other kingdoms.

 The nobles were residents of the tower who were considerably wealthy.  They generally held important positions in the kingdom like owning a business or serving the king as a minister.

 The war between the six kingdoms would continue until they were eventually wiped out by monster hordes. In the end, no kingdom was able to unite the floor. Jason planned to rectify this now that he returned to the past, but now was not the time. He had just finished clearing the undead floors and finally reached the thirtieth floor. He was not yet powerful enough to stand up to a kingdom, much less five of them.

  Creating a skill, raising Tank, and unlocking Killing Intent early dealt a heavy blow to his strength. So over the past two weeks, Jason worked hard to catch up to Roy and Olivia in levels. It had been two weeks since his father died. During this time, Jason settled his emotions and finally recovered to a decent level, reaching level 52.

 Jason entered an inn in the residential district and glanced around.

 "Over here!" Roy called out from the back of the inn, a bright smile spreading across his lips.

 Jason strode over to the table Roy and Olivia were at and sat down. He thought it would be awkward, but Roy seemed unfazed. "Hey, it's nice to see you again. I'm sooo happy that those undead floors are long gone."

 "It was pretty depressing." Olivia gave a nod. The undead floors lacked sunlight and was dark and dreary. It affected their mood greatly.

 Jason sat quietly as he listened to Roy prattle on about his adventures through the last few floors. It was nice, coming back to Roy. His seemingly endless energy affected Jason more than he thought. It was like everything would be alright as long as Roy was around.

 When Roy finally stopped talking, Jason took a deep breath and turned to Olivia. "About before, I just wanted to say, thanks for stopping me."

 Olivia nodded. "No problem."

 Roy leaned forward. "What's this about?"

 Jason shook his head lightly. "Nothing."

 "Hmmm." Roy grumbled to himself.

 Jason pulled out two books and handed them over to his companions. They looked down in confusion. It wasn't a skill book, but rather seemed like a regular book from outside the tower. "What's this?"

 Jason tapped a book with his finger. "Floors thirty-one to thirty-five are a bit special. It will be useful no matter how far in the tower you reach. Much like before, these floors are combined into one and are a solo floor."

 "Aww." Roy's shoulder fell as he pouted. "I thought we would finally be together again."

 Olivia opened her book and took a quick glance through it. "I've heard a bit about this floor. Apparently it was quite hard for the first ascenders who arrived there. Over time, as more knowledge was acquired, the floor became somewhat easier."

 "Who's this Index person?" Roy pointed at a name on the book.

 "Never heard of them." Olivia shook her head.

 Jason coughed lightly. Another thing he did over the past two weeks was spend a significant amount of time creating this book. It was basically a guide for the so-called 'kingdom' floor. He uploaded it to internet for free, so that humanity would have a better chance moving forward. It was already causing quite the sensation, and left even the top-tier guilds in awe.

 Jason explained calmly. "This is a guidebook to help you build your kingdom. It was released on the internet not long ago, and even the top-tier guilds rate it highly."

 "Building a kingdom?" Roy tilted his head.

 Jason nodded. "Remember when I said there are a few floors that are strange? This floor is one of them. In this one, you are kind of like an omnipotent and omniscient god. You start with a small group of peasants and must build a settlement by commanding them with your mind. There's literally no danger here, but keep one thing in mind. If you lose all your territory, you will lose access to the floor, forever."

 Olivia added from the side. "Even the top-tier guilds keep returning to this floor to manage their kingdom. If done right, you can acquire materials and equipment, among other things."

 "That's so strange! And cool!" Roy opened the book and began to read through it. A second later, he glanced up at Jason. "Where's your book?"

 "Ah." Jason waved his hand. "I already read through it."

 Roy nodded before returning to his book. For the next hour, Olivia and Roy read through the guide book. Jason trained as he waited. Underneath the table, he mutilated his legs with battle energy. He tried his best to keep a straight face.

 "Whew!" Roy closed the book with a thud. "There is so much to know. I bet those first ascenders lost their territory pretty quickly, huh?"

Olivia closed the book a second later. "Thanks to them, we have a fighting chance."

Jason smiled at Roy. "So, what type of kingdom do you want to build?"

Roy pointed at the ceiling. "Arrr, I want to build a seafaring kingdom. The book only mentioned it briefly, saying that it's still uncharted territory. I want to be the first to conquer it!"

"Ugh." Jason found himself burying his face in his hands. He had made this book in hopes that Roy would choose a safe path. In the end, he only ended up encouraging him to pick a dangerous route.

Roy turned to Olivia. "What about you?"

"Hmm." Olivia touched her chin with a finger. "I want to make money, so I think I'll build a kingdom specialized in making potions."

Roy nodded repeatedly. "Great. Maybe you can supply our guild with potions. Most of the money I spend is spent on potions, it's ridiculous! Those alchemists must make a butt-load of money."

Roy turned to Jason and waited expectantly. Jason tapped the table. "If you must know, I'm going to specialize in mining and creating equipment."

Roy muttered to himself. "These guys have no sense of adventure!"

Olivia's eyebrow twitched. Roy jumped to his feet, practically trembling with excitement. "I'm all hyped up after reading that book. I'm going to start my kingdom right away."

Jason tapped his communications necklace. "We can still communicate while you're in god-mode. If anybody has any questions, just ask."

"Good to know." Roy sped towards the entrance of the inn. "I'm off!"

Jason stood up. "I guess I'll get going too."

Olivia grabbed Jason's shoulder and held him back. He looked back in confusion. She stated simply. "Training."

Jason grimaced. "Fine, fine. Once a day, we'll meet at the colosseum, okay?"

Olivia pulled back her arm and let out a rare smile. "That's a promise."

Together, they headed towards the portal leading to the thirty-first floor.

One day, six towers appear on Earth. Each one stands hundreds of stories tall, and are indestructible to all attacks. At the base of each tower is a door, welcoming in all who dare open it.

All sorts of magical monsters can be found inside the towers. Even magic and superhuman strength can be acquired. Treasure, too. The problem? The towers aren't a friendly place. Even worse, the towers sometimes release waves of monsters to attack Earth.

In the year 2083, there are only a hundred survivors. All of them possess strength beyond normal. They challenge the final floor without regard for their lives. By some miracle, they manage to beat the final floor. Alas, there is only one survivor.

As a reward for clearing the tower, he is granted one wish. He decides to go back in time, to before the towers arrived. His goal? To prevent humanity from being wiped out.
