Hokage Tower....

There was nothing good happened for the last 2 days and on top of everything there was a lot of paperwork on the Hokage office today and the 3rd is very upset over all of it.

"I need to find someone soon and give the role of Hokage to that person " Hiruzen mumbled while reading this paper and he thought ' for the love of God why are there so much unnecessary documentations in there. Is someone trying to prank me or something ' 3rd complained but nobody could hear him.


While 3rd was busy with all of this paper the door knocked twice.

"Come in I knew you would come " without looking at who it was 3rd ordered to come in the room.

After listening to the old man call Kakashi and Naruto entered in the room.

"You seemed busy gramps, need a hand" Naruto asked while looking at the pile of papers on the table.

"Why are you here " Hiruzen again did not looked at them and asked

"sir Naruto had came here today to talk about the book he had written " Kakashi this time cut in.

"oh! That book he told the other day he wanted to publish but I didn't have time maybe after I finish my work I will discuss about it " this time he moved his head from the paper in front of him and replied.

"ok gramps what if I solved your papers problem will you look then " Naruto asked.

"Sure and if you could help me solve this problem for good I might even help you publish your 2st book from my own pocket " Hokage desperately with little hope answered Naruto.

"ok then. Watch carefully " then Naruto made hand seal and used "Multiple Shadow clone Jutsu " then started to reading and assign papers on the table. With the help of 24 clone he started. 

After almost 20- 26 minutes he finally finished reading and adjusting the paper and then after a puff of smoke the clone was gone.

"here you are almost done and here look at this page " then Naruto gave Hokage that contains information about the paper and the content on it.

"ok let me see " Then Hokage took the page and saw what was written on it and why did Naruto assembled those papers like that and there he saw.


There was 8/10 of the papers were just unnecessary. Like a villagers complained about his neighbors dog barks at night, another complained that he doesn't likes his friend who is prospering this day and thing like that which was just just wasting of Hokage's time because they didn't wanted to solve it but just wanted to complain. 

Another pile of paper which were 2/10 of the paper which contains the missions like d-Rank and below like cutting grass, watering trees and catching missing pets etc. 

The last remaining paper which was 1/10 of all the papers contained c- s ranked missions which was like information collecting, assassination and guarding etc like that. 

"So that is how it is thanks Naruto this way I will be done in no time " Hokage looking at Naruto while smiling told him. 

"No problem gramps you could also use 2 of your 4 guards to check the papers before coming to your desk and this way. Your workload will decrease a lot " Naruto gave him an idea. 

"Good idea but why didn't I thought about it before and don't worry I will help you in publishing your book " Hokage. 

"ok then I will leave this copy for you to read " Naruto gave a book to him. 

"ok come after academy tomorrow after reading I will decide and take you to the publication " Hokage. 

Then they started to talk about some of regular days of activity and with that Naruto left for home.


After coming back home Naruto started to learning some more sealing jutsu and medical jutsu and nothing important happened. So he went to sleep.

Today Naruto again came back very early at the Academy but with more books than before and those were on different topics.

Nothing major enough to mentioning happened in the Academy today.

Choji also came with Ino and shikamaru togather.

Sakura did not sat with Sasuke.

Kiba got punishment for shouting again and shikamaru with Choji for not concentrating on the class.

There was something new happened and that was a new teacher joined today who was a lady from the looks of Iruka he had a little crash on her.


OH that was almost all that happened today at the Academy.

After class Naruto went back to the home and after taking a little rest with Kakashi came to the Hokage building.

"Come in" when Naruto was about to know on the door Hokage called him in.

"So gramps what do you think about my book " Naruto asked with a smile.

"If I didn't knew it was you I might have thought some great historian had written this book " Hokage replied

"Hey... " Naruto was about to say something but was stopped by the Hokage.

"This is the best book about the history of the Ninja world from the beginning to now and the best book I have ever read about history. Also to tell you the truth I found a lot of new things in the book that I don't know before and the best thing was rifarance about the topic you have putten from where you got that information from is very good. I still can't believe you are the one who had written this book and you will be happy to know that I am going to put this book at the history class at the Academy for final year " Hokage explained

"So you think my book is that good " Naruto was amazed from what he learned from the Hokage.

"of course and meet Mr ___ he idms also the person who publisher comply of paradise That Kakashi readers all the time " Finally Naruto saw an old man was sitting on the chair while listening there conversation.

"HI mr___ My name is Naruto UZUMAKI and I will be honored to be working with you " Naruto told him while shaking hands with him.

"it's OK kid and I have also read your book it has a huge potential. So you don't have to pay the price for publishing but will have to give us 15% of the profit after the books were sold and I have talked about it with the Hokage " the publisher explained.

"ok I don't see any problem " then Naruto and the publisher started to talked for quite some time before leaving the Hokage Tower with Kakashi towards the office of and publisher Company.

"Does it cost a substantial amount of money to publish a book?"
"Our company usually published foreign books. So it cost more than 10 million won to do the translation, editing, design and printing work."
"Wow, it does cost a lot."
"That company eventually had to close its business. I couldn't find a job in the field afterward because the publishing industry wasn't doing well at that time. So I made a living by doing editing. However, I don't know what happened to me; I guess I had to stay in the field doing editing even though I wasn't making much. But, instead, I opened a deep-fried chicken restaurant with a loan."
"Hmm."
"I put about 100 million won in that restaurant business including its premium. However, the restaurant strangely suffered from the beginning. Moreover, my wife became testy because of the customers who were rude and loud, and sometimes they harassed my wife, those low-lives."

"Hmm."
"She would have been able to take some stress that arose from the business if we were making good money. However, the business was suffering, and we were pressured by the creditors to repay the loan, on top of those abusive customers. My wife couldn't take it anymore. You know people who write like a poem, they are more sensitive than average people."
"Did your wife invest her money in the restaurant too?"
"She did. She took out the money from her credit cards here and there and invested 20 million won in the business. I also used my credit cards in addition to loan from a bank and put about 40 million won in the business."
"So, you started the business with your own cash of 30 million won."
"I had a severance pay of 5 million won that I received from the publishing company's president. He literally cried when he gave it to me. And I borrowed 10 million won from my mother. I used those 15 million won in addition to my own cash—another 15 million won."
"The debt was too high compared to your own investment fund."
"The debt grew like a snowball and we were behind our rent. It was that time when my wife eventually suffered a miscarriage of a baby; she asked me to divorce her."
"Whew. I had similar life experiences. You had a harsh time."
"I haven't heard from my wife for a while. She must still be suffering financially because of her credit card debt. She is probably having a hard life doing editing work."
"Hmm."
"When I eventually closed the deep-fried chicken restaurant, I was left with a debt of over 50 million won. I suffered for quite a while by the creditors before I became a person with a bad credit score."
"Why didn't you apply for rehabilitation?"
"I did. With rehabilitation program, I was supposed to pay off debts according to a payment plan provided by the court. I was paying a certain amount of money to the court every month for several months until the accident happened."
"An accident?"
"I was doing the editing work, but when I couldn't get enough work to make a living, I got a job in a delivery company. I think I worked there for about half a year until the accident. I was delivering a package and I had to make a quick delivery, so I made a U-turn where I was not supposed to do and then I hit a car that was coming from the opposite direction. I crossed the yellow line to make a U-turn. I guess something happened to me that day to cloud my judgment."
"Hmm."
"I am not good at physical work since I have always done office work like writing and editing. Moreover, I had a bad credit score. So it was really hard to find a job. I saw Jong-Suk working with machines and doing welding. He looks great. I know I can't do that kind of work."
"So, you have 50 million won debt in total?"
"I have been paying for the debt until now. I think I have 30 million won left by now. Oh, I talked with the general affairs manager the other day about it. He said I would get paid 1.6 million won per month, and I can take the amount of basic living expenses out of it before it is seized. I think I can save some money then."
"Saving money?"
"Yeah. My rent is paid by the company, and I can have my meals at the company. So, I think I can pay off the debt after ten years working here."

"Right. The biggest expense that the people who don't make enough money is the cost of the rent. The people who don't have money have to pay for rent, and the people who have money receive that rent from them. That's the current economic system we are living in. Consequently, the gap between the rich and poor is getting bigger. Ten years are too long for you."
"Well, it is still hope. It's a good thing that the debt is shrinking instead of growing. There is one thing that bothers me a lot though. I collected some funds from our friends from high school to make an alumni directory book. I couldn't make it happen even though I really was going to make it."
"People don't make those types of directory book nowadays, do they? Many people don't want to expose their real address."
"I know. So I was going to enter their e-mail address instead of physical addresses with phone numbers. I started collecting the necessary information and writing some stuff already like the history and path that our school took so far and news from our friends, etc. I still have the writings with me. It will cost 2-3 million won to complete it but I used that money to pay my rent because I was about to be evicted. I became an animal to our friends."
Jae-Sik eventually burst into tears.

Today, she is going to a signing event for the release of her new book. This book is a sequel to her last book which is an international bestseller. 

Typically she doesn't want to go to such events. She surely appreciate how her readers love her works; she just doesn't like big crowds. She would prefer to spend that time finishing her painting. This watercolor painting is probably one of her favorites.

Still, the publisher had been nagging her to show her face. He asked her to sit about an hour. 

Speak of the devil, her phone is ringing and the screen is showing the name of her publisher.

"Hannah, the signing starts in one hour. Where are you now?"

"I am almost there."

That is probably one of the most popular lies in the world.

She was actually giving the painting a few brush stokes. The clouds still lack another layer of paint.

"Don't worry. I'll be there. I gotta go now."

She hung up and put the phone down onto a table near her. She goes to her room in a hurry.

CALLEA'S eyebrows were drawn together as she walked down the living room. She had been trying to recover from the days she had to entertain Deive's grandfather and her own family and she wanted to catch up with work. Surprisingly, she got along just fine with Don Jorje. He liked old jazz and her piano pieces. He was also into history so they had a lot to discuss. He asked her to visit him in Manila.

She thought she could have a peaceful time for herself since Deive went to the field to help out Torque with harvesting vegetables. He needed to impress her cousin. And since Lee is a financial analyst, he would ask for his help on business as well.

She didn't expect any visitors coming for her. Then she saw who was sitting on the sofa. It was her publisher, Mattheu Segundo. She noticed a black box on the middle of the mahogany center table. She had a bad feeling about this.

He came towards her as she reached the landing. "Finally! I thought you have no plans to see me. How's my most bankable graphic novelist?" he asked and kissed the back of her hand.

Her boss was a handsome and dashing man. A dreamboat for most women. He was a member of Stallion Island Riding and Leisure Club like her cousins where only the rich and young men in the country could join as members like her Torque and Lee. That was why they entrusted her works to him. She knew that she would be taken care of and her identity would be a secret.

"I am good. Thanks for the visit. So what brought you here, boss?"

Callea never visited the office. They just send the check to her bank account and her accountant handle all her accounts. Contacts were sent to her through a courier. She had just submitted her latest book last month. She beat her deadline. Her next deadline was still months away. The renewal of her contract was still a couple of years away. If her publisher would grace her with his presence himself, it must be freakin' important. She was wishing that he was there to increase her talent fee.

"I just visited you. I brought cake and some books on Japanese horror. Vintage ones." There was the sparkle in her boss' eyes as he opened the box. Her heart leaped when I saw the yellowish cover with Japanese ink and an illustrator of a Japanese girl in kimono with blazings eyes, standing in the middle of a bamboo forest. It was something she had never seen before that made her salivate.  It was a forbidden book, according to some. And her boss acquired it for her. "This is for me? This is too much, boss. You know that I am happy that you publish my stories and people appreciate it."

It was too precious as a gift. There was no malice between her and the boss. After all, he only sees her as a cash cow. She was scared of what he would ask in return. It was always business with her boss. There was no such thing as free lunch.

Then came Marina with a green tea crepe cake. She wet her lips. Darn! Her boss knew her weakness and how to put her guard down. They ate while they discussed the comic conference in Tokyo that he attended and how spring came earlier than expected and they nearly missed the sakura blossom.

It was a dream of Callea to visit Japan. She was planning to go there with her friend until her demise.

"I have a favor to ask, Callea." Mattheu's voice sent her back to the present.

"What is it, boss?"

He greased her with a vintage Japanese horror book and a matcha crepe cake. She was ready to listen. Her boss was a wolf. Pretending to be grandma until he shows his fangs. And she knew that she couldn't say no.

"I want you to attend our book signing."

After losing six games in a row, Nottingham Forest met Crystal Palace, a team that was ranked a spot lower than them but was aggressively determined to beat them at home. Nottingham Forest at first fell behind but then reversed the situation to end an embarrassing six-game losing streak. 
He hadn't left his post since that game. Tony Twain had been the manager of Nottingham Forest, and the team had been branded with his arrogant and untamed mark. Even during the six-month period when he was in recuperation from a heart attack, the team was not short of his influence. He led his Forest team to sweep across Europe and win two UEFA Champions League and two Premier League titles. 
Up until now, Nottingham Forest, one of the world's few established professional football clubs, had two of the most glorious periods in its history. The first glory days were when Brian Clough came to Nottingham Forest. Under the leadership of one of the most individualistic managers in English football, the previously unknown Nottingham Forest soared to the skies and won one of England's top league titles, two European Champion Clubs' Cup, one European Super Cup, as well as created an unbeaten record of forty-two games in the English top-flight tournament. That record was only surpassed by Arsène Wenger's Arsenal record of forty-nine games twenty-six years later. 
The second glory days undeniably began on December 12, 2003. Tony Twain, a former nobody, led the Forest team to stir up a red whirlwind at the City Ground Stadium. They had won two Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, two Football Association Community Shield titles, and one EFL Cup. But in terms of the number of championship titles, he had surpassed his predecessor, Brian Clough. Clough had already passed away while Tony Twain was only forty-five years old. His age was considered young for a manager, and he still had a long way to go. People believed that under his leadership the Forest team could continue to be brilliant and go on to create one of the most glorious Forest dynasties in history, which was imminent. 
Ten years had since flown by.
As the only manager who could be on par with Brian Clough in the history of the club, his ten-year anniversary as manager was well worth a big celebration. The club had decided to present a commemorative award to Twain, but unfortunately, on December 12, the Forest team's game was not on home ground, so the trophy could not be presented in front of tens of thousands of spectators before the game. December 12, 2013, in the seventeenth round of the English Premier League tournament, Nottingham Forest challenged Liverpool in an away game. 
It was a decade after Twain officially coached the First Team. Although he became the Forest team's acting manager as early as January 1, 2003, he was only an "acting manager" and was dismissed by Evan Doughty midway through. It could not be counted in his formal coaching career. Even Twain was reluctant to count half of that season's failure into his own decade, even though that half of the season occupied a very important place in his life that had left him with countless precious memories. 
The local media, such as the Nottingham Evening Post, had published special issues as a retrospective of Tony Twain's past decade. For the people of Nottingham, the past ten years had a lot of things worth remembering. It was like they had a wonderful and long dream. If someone were to say to them ten years ago, "Your team can get back to the top," they would think that the man had deliberately mocked them, but now those honors were quietly placed in the club's honors room, telling them this was not a dream—it was reality. 
Everything was thanks to this forty-five-year-old man. As a manager, he was only forty-five years old and very young, but his honors had made him the envy of many managers older than him. But as a man, forty-five years old was considered middle-aged. The biggest wish for all Forest fans was that he could hopefully continue to be the manager, the longer the better. 
A book publisher came to Twain with the hope of publishing an autobiography of this worthy time period. Twain's writing was rather good. He often wrote in his column in the newspapers, but it was too time consuming for him to write a book. The manager of a Premier League club was already busy enough. How could he have the time to write a book? So he handed the matter to Pierce Brosnan, the reporter who knew him best, stating that he would dictate and Brosnan would take notes. In fact, he did not have to do much. Brosnan had used all the material he had gathered and recorded over the past ten years to put together the entire book. The only thing that was likely to be Twain's creation was the title of the book: Ten Years.
Well, strictly speaking, even the title of the book wasn't his creation. When the publisher asked him to think about the title, the title of a song by Eason Chan coincidentally popped into his mind. He thought it was a kind of destiny, so he used it. 
At first, the publisher thought the name lacked grandeur and was too low-key. It was completely incompatible with Tony Twain's "madman identity." He wanted Twain to change it to another, such as "The Forest Emperor,""Lionheart,""The Godfather of Champions," or "We Are the Champions," the kind of straightforward and common title that could be easily comprehended, but Twain refused.
"Since I am a madman, what kind of madman would I be if I can't even insist on a book title?" His question left the publisher speechless. He was definitely egotistical… 
"Tony, I've thought about it. Shall we present you with the award at a press conference in Nottingham the day before the game?" Three days before the game, the club's chairman, Evan Doughty, came to Twain. 
"Why?" Twain was surprised, because the original plan was to present it after the game.
"Well, I'm worried that if you lose that game, you won't be in the mood to receive the award in front of the media…" 
Twain laughed.
"Don't laugh, Tony. We have to prepare for both eventualities, don't we?"
Twain continued to laugh. "Ha! If you present me that crystal award before the game, how's that preparing for both eventualities? Before some important games, the media always has Plan A and Plan B, but they don't declare the loss for a team ahead of the game. Don't worry." Twain patted Evan on the shoulder and said, "The situation that you're worried about won't happen because we won't lose. I don't want to lose the game and then receive the award."
"It's going to be hard to play at Liverpool's home ground…"
"It's not that we haven't beaten them at Anfield. Don't tell me it's because it's my tenth anniversary that they've suddenly become a fortress that is the most difficult to conquer in the world?"
"But with our team's recent performance… plus George Wood's form…"
Twain shook his head and interrupted his doubting to say, "No problem. There are no issues with him and the team." Twain pushed back Evan's doubts and said, "Believe me, Evan. This is my tenth anniversary. How could I allow someone to mess it up? I have drinks for friends who come and bullets for enemies who approach."
"Anfield is the most devilish home ground on the planet!" Christopher Beesley, a senior correspondent for the Liverpool Echo, predicted in his column the game about to be held two days later. "Our relationship with Nottingham Forest is not too good, and there is no reason for us to let Tony Twain enjoy his anniversary celebration at Anfield."
The man had once listed in his own column the top ten wishes for the 2009–2010 season, one of which was "Hope that Tony Twain has a heart attack to completely say goodbye to the position as Forest manager." In addition, he wanted Abramovich to go bankrupt and for Chelsea to have no choice but to sell Lampard to Barça and Terry to Liverpool. In that way, the "Premier League can start a fair and reasonable competition."
It was obvious that he was a staunch Kopite and didn't like Chelsea or Tony Twain. In fact, even without him adding fuel to the fire in his column, few Liverpool fans had any favorable impression of Nottingham Forest and Tony Twain. 
Liverpool, which had been confined to the UEFA Europa League for several years in a row, had become the laughingstock among Europe's powerful teams. It was all due to Tony Twain's Nottingham Forest. Going back a little further, the question was: how was it that Liverpool, once a giant that dominated Europe, was beaten by the same opponent in a year and was eliminated from the three tournaments: League Cup, EFL cup, and the European Cup? The answer was: Brian Clough and his Nottingham Forest team. 
With the added layer of a relationship, both were the "red camp" in English football, but every fight seemed to be a derby. Liverpool wanted to prove they were no weaker than Nottingham Forest with a league win and why they could play in the Champions League. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, had always pursued the principle of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Since you're upset with me, I naturally don't need to be polite to you. 
Furthermore, the debate as to whether Gerrard or George Wood was England's best midfielder at the moment had never stopped between the two teams' supporters. In the past, the Chelsea fans had also joined in to support Lampard. As Lampard grew older and lost his place in the national team, the Chelsea fans discreetly left the fray. 
The Liverpool supporters saw Gerrard as more comprehensive, immaculate, and flawless. He was undeniably the core player of both England and Liverpool, which certainly made him the best in England. While George Wood was slightly better defensively than Gerrard, his offense was far too inferior. His goal-scoring ability was night and day compared to Gerrard. He couldn't be placed on par with Gerrard. In the England team, George Wood had emerged more as a player to assist Gerrard. 
Nottingham Forest's supporters thought Wood's midfield defense was matchless in the world. His offense was quickly improving. He was younger and had plenty of room to rise. Instead, Gerrard was already stereotyped. Moreover, Liverpool was always kept under by Nottingham Forest in the league tournament. The team's results were not ideal, and Gerrard's achievements were largely set. On the contrary, Nottingham Forest, led by Tony Twain, had repeatedly won championship titles. George Wood continued to update his honors list. He was certain to achieve more honors and achievements in the future. He could definitely reach the heights of which Gerrard had never reached. 
The fans, pundits, and reporters who supported their respective teams stuck to their own teams and regularly engaged in such debates, but the controversy didn't affect the relationship between Gerrard and Wood. The national team saw no negative impact from these kinds of debates. Wood's dynamic duo with Gerrard was clearly better than his partnership with Lampard. Wood was a midfielder who could partner with anyone. He could attack and defend, be a playmaker and assist, which was what Capello liked most about Wood. So, while he and Gerrard played at the same time, it must be him to assist Gerrard. However, in the national team, anyone's position could be rotated, only Wood's could not be. Gerrard sometimes needed to give his position to another player to partner with Wood, but there had never been any media hype about "who is going to partner Gerrard." 
Wood was not a man who liked to compete for the false reputation of "who the big man is in English football," and Gerrard clearly didn't need to fight for the top spot. His status had long been cemented. Such an argument was nothing more than an excuse for fodder among the fans and for the media to speculate about the two teams' match.
"Nottingham Forest has been in poor form lately. Their core and team captain, George Wood, seems to be having problems. I'm not going to hide how I'm very happy to see this happen. I just want my opponents to have their own problems." Beesley continued to state in his column, "The competition schedule is terrible for Tony Twain. His tenth anniversary will be played at the Devil's Stadium. If he were to be at City Ground Stadium, he might still be able to accept the club's award before the game. That must be a glorious thing, but now manager Twain can only fantasize about it in his mind."
"To be able to disturb the anniversary of this arrogant man, that's what I'm looking forward to the most in this game. I make no secret of my dislike of Nottingham Forest and my love for Liverpool. Every Kopite who knows Liverpool's history in the late 1970s and early 1980s should agree with me. We are going to settle the score with new enemies and old hatred on the night of December 12 at Anfield!"


This is a story about the pursuit of victory.

— "I subscribe only to the theory of victory. I only pursue victory. As long as I am able to obtain victory, I don’t care if it’s total football or counterattack. What is the ultimate goal of professional soccer? In my opinion, it is victory, and the pinnacle of victory is to become the champions. I am a manager. If I don’t wish to lose my job or be forgotten by the people, there’s only one path for me to take, and that is to lead the team in obtaining victories, in obtaining championship titles!”

The main character was not well-liked by people.

— “⋯We conducted a survey which had been deemed by Manager Tony Twain as extremely meaningless. In a random street survey conducted, ninety-three percent of those surveyed chose the option ‘I hate Tony Twain’, while only seven percent chose the option ‘This person is rather decent, I like him’. It is worth noting that nobody chose the option ‘Who is Tony Twain? I don’t know him’. Mark, do you know why Manager Twain felt that our survey was very meaningless?” Parker, a reporter from <The Daily Telegraph> laughed loudly and said when he was being interviewed by BBC.

But there were also people who were madly in love with him.

— “⋯ Became the spokesperson of world-wide famous clothing brands, shot advertisements, frequented the fashion industry’s award ceremonies, endorsed electronic games, has a supermodel girlfriend. His earnings from advertisements exceed his club salary by seventeen times, owns a special column in various print medias, publishing his autobiography (in progress), and is even said that he is planning to shoot an inspirational film based off his own person experiences! Who can tell me which part of his life experiences is worthy of being called ‘inspirational’? Hold on⋯. Are you all thinking that I’m referring to David Beckham? You’re sorely mistaken! I’m talking about Manager Tony Twain⋯.”

He was very knowledgeable about Chinese soccer.

— “⋯ I’ve heard about it, that Bora gifted four books to his manager Mr. Zhu before your country’s national team’s warm up match. After which, the team lost 1:3 to a nameless American team from Major League Soccer. The new excuse that Mr. Zhu gave for losing the match, was that Bora gifted “books” (‘books’ and ‘lose’ are homophones in the Chinese language). Here, I recommend that you guys find out what that one specific book is. Which book? Of course the one that caused you all to score a goal. After that, tell me the title of the book. Before every match, I will gift ten copies of that same book to you. In that case, won’t you all be able to get a triumphant 10:0 win over your opponents every time?” An excerpt taken from Tony Twain’s special column in a certain famous Chinese sports newspaper.

Ding!

Lucy moaned in exhaustion as she tried to drag herself out of her bed and over to her laptop. "Just let me sleep," she whined, dropping into her desk's chair. She blinked blearily at the suddenly awakened screen, pretending she didn't see the dozens of abandoned papers that littered her desk, full of the notes she'd taken. She'd managed to go through everything on the site the night before, and she was proud of herself. She even had a page full of questions for Mirajane when they met up.

Hm...I need to make arrangements to travel to Magnolia…

It turned out that her publisher wanted at least some sort of idea by the end of the week, and Lucy smirked to herself before replying that she might have an outline to her by then and that she was heading out of Crocus to do some researching. Then Lucy yawned, grabbing her laptop and making her way into the next room, where she clicked on the news, a morning thing she did out of habit. Mostly because it had kept her from being spotted in the country she was originally from.

She went to retrieve some coffee, listening as she did so. But there was nothing good so far as she could hear, and disappointment made her sigh as she added just a dab of sugar before returning to her laptop, sitting on the couch and setting her mug on the coffee table. She opened her laptop, situated herself comfortably, and then went to work on seeing when flights to Magnolia happened.

Within the next hour, Lucy had purchased a plane ticket that meant she'd be leaving for the town tomorrow, not even bothered by how soon she was going. She'd looked into Magnolia briefly the night before, and was glad to see that it was a relatively decent location for her book as well. She'd even managed to rent herself a car for the five days she'd be staying there!

Next on her list was to alert Mirajane. So she did just that.

Letting you know I've recently purchased a plane ticket and should be arriving in Magnolia tomorrow afternoon...don't worry if you're unable to meet with me then, though. Lucy reached for her mug of coffee after sending the message, sipping happily at it and enjoying the way it seemed to wake her up. She adored both tea and coffee - tea more than coffee, though the second drink was the only one to wake her up in the mornings. Thank the heavens for caffeine, she mused to herself - just as her laptop alerted her that she had a new message.

The chat she'd used with Mirajane the night before had popped up.

mira: Hello, Lucy! I actually have tomorrow off, so I'd be more than willing to meet with you tomorrow. I certainly didn't expect you to come so quickly, though.

layla: Yeah...sorry about that. I didn't mean to get such an early flight, but I'm excited. I haven't been to Magnolia, and I heard it's a nice town. And I'm rather eager to get started on my book.

mira: Don't worry, I understand. My friends are constantly getting overly excited, so you rushing here is actually a hell of a lot nicer than what I usually deal with. What time do you arrive?

layla: Around noon or so, I believe.

mira: How about lunch at one, then?

layla: Works for me! ;) Just tell me where and I'll find my way there.

mira: The Rozlyn Cafe. It's a place that's only a five minute walk from the airport. I'll go ahead and reserve just a table, so just ask for a table reserved under the name Strauss.

layla: I will. Thanks!

mira: No problem. :)

Lucy laughed softly as she closed her laptop, downing the rest of her tea. She had a feeling that she and Mirajane were going to be good friends. Unless she was murdered for this, then she supposed they'd be the opposite.

Lucy glanced in the direction of her room and made a face. She had to organize her notes, make sure she had no more questions, and pack. Then she'd be able to leave at the proper time rather than missing her plane, like she'd done during previous times when she'd been scheduled for signings in other towns and cities.

But first...she had to make a run to the store. Not that she wanted to, especially after nearly running over that Natsu person the day before. Something about him made her anxious, especially the way she'd been sure she'd seen smoke curling around his fingertips.

But, that couldn't stop her from going out and doing stuff.

Lucy stretched as she headed into the kitchen, abandoning her coffee mug in favor of going for her car keys and purse. She'd make a quick run to the store, grab a few things she'd need for her trip, and hope she didn't run into those strange people from the day before.

Hm...maybe Mirajane will know something about them…? Or at least about that weird mark they all had…

The trip to the store was - thankfully -relatively uneventful. Nothing strange came around her and she was grateful for that. She didn't want to deal with anything strange today. Not before her trip.

She was able to get home fairly quickly, and upon getting inside, she dropped her grocery bag onto the table. "Ah, nice and easy," she sighed happily, then glanced back at the door with a thoughtful look. Fall was out and about, giving the perfect weather for people to go out and enjoy. In the past, before Lucy had come to the country of Fiore, she hadn't been able to go out and enjoy such things. She'd either been forced to remain in a place she hated or too frightened about being recognized.

So, Lucy tucked her keys into her pocket, grabbed her phone, and made her way back outside. She smiled to herself at the breeze that whisked her blonde hair out of her face, enjoying the coolness of it. Maybe, she thought, just maybe, she could become friends with MIrajane. It'd be nice to have someone to chat with, even if it was only over the computer or phone. She'd tried to be friendly with her neighbors, who lived in the same building she did, but they weren't very eager to be friendly back.

So, for the time she'd spent in Fiore, she'd been a hermit, only talking with her editors and publisher.

Oh, and shouting at that weirdo.

Damn, for someone who was trying to pretend she hadn't been too bothered by their presence, she was thinking about them a lot...she really needed to correct her mind.

Or figure out just why they were bothering her so much.

Lucy huffed. Yeah, really need to figure that out.

The young woman crossed her arms, biting her lip unhappily as she walked along the sidewalk. Sometimes she hated the lonely life she'd created for herself. But it was a hell of a lot better than the one she would have had to remain in if she hadn't run away. And she did enjoy writing…

Lucy continued to walk, enjoying the outside breeze and letting it clear her head. "I need to do this more often," she mused aloud, feeling a lot better about a ton of things. A smile lit across her face.

And then she smelled smoke. Right before a rather large gust blew something around, smacking it right into her face.

Lucy yelped in surprise, stumbling. She pried it away, annoyed, expecting it to be a grocery bag or something disgusting that often accompanied the winds that occasionally blew through Crocus.

Instead, she was confronted by a scarf...one she recognized instantly as the one that had been wrapped around that Natsu guy's neck. Lucy stared at it, her fingers running over the weird scale-like texture and grudgingly admitted to herself that it was soft, and still warm.

How it had ended up in her hands, however, confused the hell out of her. Hesitant, Lucy scanned the area around her for that strange pink-haired man, but found nobody. She carefully folded the scarf, pressing her lips into a hard line. So those three strange people were still hanging around?

She searched for the source of smoke but found none and gave a shrug before turning to head home, the scarf still clasped in her hands. She'd keep it for now, and if she saw the weird person again, she'd return it, simple as that.

It took her minutes to get home, and when she did, she gently placed the scarf on her coffee table and went to haul her suitcase out of its hiding hole. As she was dragging it to her living room - there was more room there, and she could carry chosen clothes out of her room to sort through there - her laptop gave off a soft sound, alerting her that she'd gotten a message.

Swiping her hands, Lucy abandoned the suitcase in favor of going to check the message.

Lucy expected a response almost immediately, but when it didn't come, she was surprised. So she gave it a few minutes, then shrugged and went back to packing, carefully tucking away a few articles of clothing, toiletries, and even books into the suitcase. She refused to go anywhere without at least a few books. One would go into her carry on, too. Flights were boring, after all. She moved to zip the suitcase shut, then paused, glancing over her shoulder at the scarf. It sat there on her coffee table, gleaming innocently in the light. So, with a sigh, she packed it, too. Who knows, maybe she'd see that weirdo there and be able to return it to him…

Damn, she was obsessed. How embarrassing.

Ding!

Ah, there was the message she'd been expecting! Lucy hurried back over to her computer, surveying the screen.

Lucy popped her neck, swiping her blonde hair out of her face. So it was sort of a lie. She'd seen the three strangers and had been trying to find them, but nobody else needed to know that. She did a final checkover of her suitcase, then reached for the book she was currently reading. She might as well try and enjoy herself for the rest of the evening…

A pause.

It was lonely like this.

Maybe I should consider getting a dog…?

The idea made her snort. As if a dog would keep her company. She'd always wanted pets as a child, but it wasn't exactly animal companionship she was craving. She wanted human company.

Lucy set her book down, longing filling her. How long had it been since she'd had a friend? Before her mother's death, that was for sure. She could remember the happy people that used to come visit her mother, even when Layla Heartfilia had fallen ill.

They'd stopped coming after her death and soon after, her life became a living hell.

Lucy tapped her fingers on the cover of her book, resting her head back with a sigh. Why did stuff like this have to be so troublesome? It was part of the reason she enjoyed writing and reading so much...it gave her the chance to sort of experience what she was missing out on in life.

But hey. Even if a dog wasn't the company she was craving, it was better than nothing.

...maybe I really should get a dog...
