Hello, to anyone who still cares enough to read this. 

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to the people who gave me feedback on my novel and supported me during my short three-week run. For that, I am eternally grateful. 

I kind of disappeared out of the blue without saying anything because I couldn't take it anymore. It was stupid of me to do, but here I will be trying to list my reasons and I hope you can understand.

I began to write for WebNovel after seeing their advertisement for up and coming authors to make a living off of writing. I hate myself for being so naive. Looking back on it now, it was like falling for any other scam on the internet. Stuff like "Doctor's hate him because ... " and "Sign up to win ... " Etc Etc. 

As a twenty-three-year-old university student working two jobs, the only time I could fit to write was during the hours of 12 am and 5 am. It was literally killing me to publish chapters as I began to fall asleep in class, and my performance at work got a bit sloppy. 

But for the most part, I enjoyed writing the chapters because I loved to write. I loved to publish a chapter and stalk it until someone posted a reply. That moment when the first person said something meant the world to me. Because it meant someone cared that my story existed, and for this reason, I tried to push myself to put out more and more chapters. 

Things started to go wrong though, as most things do. Webnovel's feedback system is the most depressing thing. It actively tracked how many people had my novel in their collection and how many total views the novel had. However, the only number that matter was the collections. 

The thing was, these numbers were always bugged and never gave me a clear indication as to the scale of my readers. Aside from the usual comments from return readers, the number didn't mean anything. It was like running in one spot, over and over without any clear indication to if I was making any progress. It's horrible when the work you put in seems to yield basically no results. 

I was feeling euphoric watching my collections pass 100. You guys don't know the scale to my happiness. I basically woke up my whole household in celebration.

Then, in the author's discord channel, they confirmed that everything on the interface was bugged. Yep, talk about a slap in the face. 

To summarize ... I was and still am a hopeful about making a career out of my writing. But doing it on Webnovel is ill-advised. Unless that is if you are writing a fan-fiction or another cliche 'system' novel. In that case, I believe you'll find much success. 

Also, if you guys want to know the biggest reason for my departure from WN; in the search function, look up 'Da Contract'. It's the actual web novel contract. Even if you guys don't know the lingo its fine. Just take a look through and you'll understand my frustrations. 

The staff never really cared about us authors either. They seldom gave out prizing for contests and were hush-hush about even attaining a contract. But reading through it ... this thing is a slave contract. I kid you not. Anyone who is desperate enough to sign, I give you my condolences. But it's completely and utterly unbefitting of a professional "employer-producer" relationship. 

And the fact that tried to keep the contract under wraps ... they knew what they were doing.

Thankfully, a fellow author "ink bamboo" was quick to point this out to me. Otherwise, I would possibly be still slaving away here, with no end in sight. I probably would have hung myself if all my stress ended up culminating with being presented with this contract ... 

There are so many things I want to say, but I find myself more and more depressed as I think about it. An entire month of my life down that drain ... it feels bad.

I was told to try my hand with self-publishing on Amazon with Kindle. I believe it's more worth it for me to try there. If people buy my book and like it, at least I can get immediate feedback. If it doesn't work out... well, I suppose it just means I don't have the talent for writing.

Imperious Edge will continue, but not here. Not in this depressing hellscape. 

To my frequent readers, I am sorry, deeply and truly sorry that I have let you down. I can only hope you understand my choices. I often end my chapters with a bow, and to that, I give you my final respectful gesture as I sign off here. 

Perhaps it's asking too much, but I hope you guys would care enough to support me in my endeavours to becoming an amateur author. When I publish my first Volume, I will update this.

"..." There was only silence, even Sudo or Horikita had no opinion about this.

"...Success in the Scavenger hunt relies a lot on luck so how about we decide it simply by the luck?" Hirata told his opinion on this when no one came forward to tell their own opinion.

"How do you want to decide it by the 'luck'? Sudo asked with a confused expression.

Luck...ugh. I don't even want to participate in that contest, to be honest.

"Hmm...How about rock paper scissors?" Hirata suggested with a smile.

"Alright, let's do it quickly, 1 point and the loser is eliminated and the winner goes against another winner until only 3 people will remain." Sudo quickly decided the rules, it was evident that he wasn't interested in this because it wasn't something where he could show off his athletic prowess.

So we started to form groups of 2 people and started the 'game'

Everyone agreed with him and we started with the 100-meter dash. We were done pretty quickly because it wasn't anything complicated. Hirata has once again written the results of each student down to his notebook. I once again ended up in a better place, however, it wasn't enough to take any of the first 3 positions. The most noticeable change was that this time, Ayanokoji ended up at much worse position than me.

Have some common sense, will you? I thought while looking at Ayanokoji with a slightly annoyed expression.

In the first competition, you show such good results and in the second competition you end up having average results...

"*You aren't taking it seriously...Why? Don't tell me you are uninterested in sports festival as Koenji*" Horikita approached me when no one was around me and whispered to me with a displeased expression.

What! The! Actual! F*ck?! You are complaining about me not doing my best yet Ayanokoji who was able to take 2nd place in the previous event is fine with having average results right now?

"*Anyone can come here and look at our practice. Why should I try my best? So everyone can see it even before the sports festival?*" I retorted back because I actually had reasons for doing this.

"*...That's...but even then, where are we supposed to place you when we don't even have your genuine results?*" She hesitated a bit because even she knew that a lot of students will definitely take a look at us, however, she still tried to convince me while having displeased expression while looking right into my eyes.

"*Look, you can place me wherever you want but remember-*" I tried to give her advice but I was interrupted.

"What are you guys talking about? Does Horikita-san perhaps want to be paired with Walker-kun?" Hirata asked with a puzzled expression.

"No! I don't need anyone slowing me down!" She tossed her hair and left with an irritated expression on her face.

"?! Walker-kun, your time wasn't bad so why does she think that you will slow her down?" Hirata approached me and asked me while looking at Horikita's back with a confused expression.

She thinks that if I took it seriously than she would be able to keep up with me but because she doesn't know how fast I am, she doesn't want to be paired with me...I guess? How am I supposed to know what she is thinking inside her head...

"I don't know...how did the class decide to form the pairs?" I asked him because while I was talking with Horikita, he and the rest of the students were discussing something so I guessed that was the thing.

"Well, since the three-legged race is not entirely about athletics we decided that anyone can go with whom he/she wants but if no one has a specific preference then we will simply write down numbers and 2 people with the same number will become the pair for the duration of this practice. Of course, further adjustments and changes of the pairs can be left to the time after our PE class ends." He answered with a slightly helpless smile.

Indeed, this was probably the best way because forming pairs of one gender could be done much easier but pairing males and females together in this class? That's just a disaster, most of the girls don't even trust us, boys.

"So, what will you take? Do you have someone you want to be paired with or will you take a random partner?" He asked me with a curious expression while giving a quick glance at Kei and Horikita.

Saying to someone who is even a girl at that...'Would you like to be paired with me?'
That's simply a good way how to spread the rumors.

"Nope, I won the rock paper scissors game so I believe in my luck that I will get a good partner." I said with a confident smile.

And as I thought, most of the guys simply chose to take the same way as me. Except for Ike who immediately ran up to Kushida before anyone else could do it before him, to be honest, if he could have been this fast during the 100-meter dash then he might have had a chance to become a champion. There was also Sudo who stick around Horikita who seemed slightly irritated by this fact and then there was Yamauchi who was begging Sakura who simply had no strength in her voice to either agree or disagree.

"Alright, papers are ready, everyone! Please come and take one paper and when I call out the number, both people having the same number will step out." Hirata said with a welcoming smile and hat in his hand.

I came forward, buried my hand into the hat without looking and took a small strip of paper with the number 6 written on it then I returned to my post and waited for Hirata to call out my number.

"Number 1!" Hirata called out and the ones who stepped out were Ayanokoji and Sakura. Ayanokoji acted nonchalant seeing this development however Sakura was already nervously blushing while looking downwards.

"Alright, ...Ayanokoji-kun...and...Sakura-san. You can go to the track and start to practice first." Hirata mumbled and started writing their names down into his notebook.

Ayanokoji simply nodded at his words and went towards the track with Sakura following him like a tail

Finally...I was already slightly bored with only standing still in one place.

I stepped forward and I also immediately noticed my partner who stepped out together at the same time with me.

Hehe, what a sweet girl, although it is evident that she wanted to be paired with someone else perhaps it was Hirata, she still said otherwise to not hurt me.
Even though, I wouldn't be hurt by the words of a teenage girl, her actions still impressed me a bit.

"Is it Hirata-kun?" I decided to tease her a bit.

"Wh-what?!" Hearing his name, she immediately panicked.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone" I replied with a teasing smile.

"H- how?" She asked me with a confused and helpless expression while intensively looking at me as if my face was shrouded in mystery.

"You ask how? Your disappointment was already visible when you stepped out of the crowd and Hirata kept standing still. You were looking at him with regret." I snapped my head to the side to look her right into eyes and answered her question with a nonchalant smile.

"I see..." She muttered with an absent-minded expression.
"I am sorry..." She apologized while looking downwards, embarrassed by what she has done.

Why is she apologizing?

"No need to apologize...isn't it natural reaction when you don't end up paired with someone you like?" I asked her with a confused expression, there was absolutely no resentment in my eyes or voice.

Hearing my words, she abruptly raise her head to look at me with a surprised expression.
"I-I guess so...We should hurry up!" When our eyes met she immediately said with slightly red cheeks before running to the track.

?! Why has she acted as if my words were something embarrassing? Was she embarrassed by how I have said that she likes Hirata? I thought while looking at her back with furrowed brows.

I really have to work on the better reading of the people's emotions...

Just some random Fan-fic about Classroom of the Elite with a few fantasy-like features for the future plot.

*English isn't my native language* so if you can't stand grammar errors while reading something you better not read this.

This is my first fan-fic ever so you can definitely expect plot holes. Characters might have slightly different personalities. Events don't have to happen the same way they did in the Classroom of the Elite.

I am writing this only for fun so don't expect much.

The winner of my prompt was a book that is now on hiatus. No other entries qualified. At the time I didn't realize that having votes was the rank qualifier. So my book was instantly disqualified.
Despite not making it past the car park, so to speak, I kept this story going. I had moved it to Wattpad and continued to post chapters there.
I entered it into a Wattpad community award, and had eventually won the award for Historical Fiction, but never received the prize for it. 😆
That's okay. Knowing that my writing was enough to be a winner in a judge's eyes was cool. It won over some quality stories as well. That was a prize enough for me.
After some time, I started posting the story to Tapread where it picked up read interest there. Then I got a ping from Islinda who liked the lone chapter I had left on the book page.  
This story has been a blast to write. I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve with it. I have no regrets of what I leave behind, as I have given my best shot.

After returning to his office at Steel Armor Shelter, Han Sen said to Yang Manli, "Deputy, your performance today was not professional. With your ability, you should've done better."

Blushing, Yang Manli moved her lips but failed to mutter a word.

Indeed, as Han Sen said, she could have done much better even though she could not beat the creature. The reason why she acted poorly was that she was distracted by her grudge.

Yang Manli had no argument to make.

"As a soldier, you should trust your comrade. Obviously, you did not trust me."

"I am sorry, captain. It will not happen again," Yang Manli said with her head down.

Whelp, I guess this is the end (for now at least). I remember back two months ago when I was writing my first work, the fanfic for Chojusen, I said something along the lines of  "I want to be known as the dumb dumb Author who finishes his novels and doesn't quit just because he "fell off..." And as I reflect on the decision I'm making right flipping now, I'm just as disappointed in myself as you guys. It's just, I'm not quitting because I fell off, rather, my lack of taking off in the first place is what's destroying what little motivation I have for writing this novel.

I don't know if you can understand what it's like to watch as the days go by and your work never makes any progress. What it's like to see other novels take off while yours is abandoned. Now, hopefully I don't offend any other authors on the site with words like the ones I'm throwing around right now, if your novel has taken off its more likely than not that you are competent as a writer and your work is deserving of its attention. I'm probably just coming off as a whiny bitch for being unsuccessful in my first venture as an original writer and to an extent, even I agree with that sentiment. It's just, I what to express myself in as open a manner as can be and realizing my frustrations through writing like this is what I feel helps.

I'm pretty sure I contributed in a large part to why my novel is so unpopular. I mean I started off with a message to everyone that it wouldn't be updating for a while and even after coming back I had to take another stop to go to Cuba. I give my own novels sub par review scores and even admit that I have no confidence in them. To anyone with even a modicum of logic, these are red flags and I'm not surprised that many people have turned away from reading.

However, for the last two or so months I've released almost 200,000 words and 112 chapters. And for the better part of those two months It's felt like I've been writing for no one. Sure the view counts update by the everyday and my collections count increase as well. But it's truly depressing to see only three or four comments per chapter; even though they are extremely appreciated. Honestly, if it weren't for the two or three people a see coming back every day — even if it is just to say "thanks for the chapter" — I wouldn't have made it for this long.

Even back when I was writing the other novel, where I would get things about the canonical story wrong or when I made a decision that didn't sit right with some of the readers, getting mean/harsh comments would be infinitely better for my motivation — and I'm assuming other authors as well — than just silence.

Well, that's enough of that nonsense so here's what I've decided to do. Writing this novel, even before I began publishing, is grating as I feel no confidence in my skills as an author and that has only further declined with how little interest the novel has amassed over the two months. It's gotten to the point where I literally write to meet the quota I set up for myself of 1 chapter a day and for bonus opportunities like power stone incentives. (Wait this is still rambling! Sorry...)

Anyways, the problem with motivation is more impactful than you guys can imagine as I literally know what to write next and how the story should progress, but just sitting before my computer and trying to type for what I've already doomed to failure causes distractions to magically manifest; like when you have homework and just so happen to find a dozen videos you'd much rather watch than do your duty. 

Thus, I'm deciding to not "drop" the novel and only put it on hiatus for now. Maybe if I become less whiny in the future and my career as an writer doesn't tank, I'll return to continue updating the story… But for now, I think I'll move on to enter in the webnovel weekly contests and write stories that gain an actual audience. If all else fails, I can somewhat confidently say that I'll return to this story eventually as I'm done with its outline and whatnot. The only thing I ask of you is to forgive me for wasting your time like so many other authors who don't finish their work and to remember that I'll eventually come back to finish what I started; maybe not now or in a year but eventually, I'll come to finish this story… 

P.S. I'll be writing under another pseudonym for a while, else the bad reputation I just created might come to haunt me if I do get successful. So, if you're still a "fan" of either me or this story, sorry you won't be able to find what I'm working on for now… (The characters I write might be dense and stupid, but I think this shameless move is the most pragmatic.)

Don't forget to delete your old reviews and give this novel new 1 star reviews. Though I'm shameless and cowardly, I'd rather not waste other people's time; at least not now that I'm discontinuing production for this novel. But... have some fun with the 1 star reviews, like call me misogynistic and transphobic (you'd know why if you read all the chapters).
