Who knew there was a program for Isekai. 

I play Minecraft Modded and thought, would it be nice to have one of the mods as a power in an Isekai Story.

As soon came to a close and winter break rolled around, I became determined to become a better person. Although I wasn't sure where to start yet, I knew the first part of it was going "away".

I wanted to take a break from the rest of the world.

Most days were spent locked inside my room, as I wondered about what had gone so wrong about this year that managed to shake my entire world. All the things I had believed once seemed to have changed into lies. Why lies you ask?

Maybe because I relied too much on my ideal version of reality.

That was also when my mom advised me to apply for a writing program. I knew I wanted to apply, I also knew that if I failed to get accepted, I'd only have less confidence in myself.

"Just think of it as a bonus," my mom suggested. "If you get in, great! You have some skills in writing. If you don't, well you said you're not expecting to get in anyways, and you can work on it more in the future."

Deciding to take my mom's advice, I spent weeks on my comfy blue chair, staring at the computer screen.

The original plan was to write a story about a boy who had been dragged into a game of "chess". Each chess piece was controlled by another person, and if the piece was eliminated, so would the person who controlled it. The only problem was that there was a eight page limit and this story sounded more like something from a developed novel. After trying several different ways to shape it, I soon found that squeezing in fantasy/magic elements into a eight paged story (not to mention double-spaced) was extremely difficult. Not to mention emotional impact along with those elements.

A week later, I stumbled across a song.

A song that sang of a doll whose creator made her out of his loneliness. The doll wished to be free and love the creator, the "God" of this world, but the God could not give her the special love she wanted. Nevertheless, she loved him earnestly, promising to do so until the day her gears stopped turning. 

And so, before I could even figure out what I was doing, I began frantically writing. 

Writing the story of a doll who watched a boy grow. Until his mother grew ill and he didn't have the medicine to help her. This eventually led to him selling her and through a chain of events, her "death" in a fireplace. 

"...she could finally...cry."

Yes...only by being in a fireplace and feeling the melting of her fake eyes could the doll finally find relief after years of silently watching.

Many friends said it was dark. Many said it made them feel sad. But everyone agreed that it was a good story. Personally, I thought so too, and had no hesitation when it came to submitting this piece for the program application. After all, it was the best piece of work I had written.

Besides that, there was one more notable thing that happened over winter break.

Binge watching anime until three in the morning.

Just to distract myself.

Because another storm was just beginning to brew.

Why is life so hard sometimes? Well, there's no one that can recall all the troubles of life, but here I go to explain a few simple ones! Hopefully, I haven't screwed anything up yet...right?

TLDR: I will be taking a break from 22nd March to 1st April. The same routine as always I guess.

Hi guys! How have you been? We have come to the end of yet another book, and unlike the other times, I don't have much to say this time, lol. So I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

As some of you may have realised, Webnovel censored the word P A T R E O N, so all my links to the P-site had been blanked out. And before any of you think that I'm going to rant about it, I'm going to cut you off and say I support their decision to censor the P-site. Look, they are a company that needs to earn money, and I'm using their platform to promote my novel. They have every right to block the P-site if the want more authors to join their Premium, and I don't blame them for that. Yeah, it might be annoying to move around it, but I'll get by. It's not like they're trying to remove my novel away from the platform.

Being a web novelist of this genre, there's really only two options that you can go to. Royalroad is one, but the big player is actually Webnovel. According to Alexa.com, a website that tracks website traffic, Royalroad is ranked 15,168 globally, while Webnovel is ranked 3,183 (as of writing this author's thoughts). 

So not only is Webnovel the site with the better traffic, but it also has a method to boost readership, and that is to post daily. Using the algorithm, the daily updates feed will feature the novels that post every day, which is why I have maintained this gruelling schedule of writing every single day. So yeah, they may have censored the P-site, but Webnovel has given me a wider readership and boosted my overall readership, which I'm grateful for.

Now, some might ask. Why not join the Premium program then? Won't all your troubles be solved? 

I would be lying if I said I never considered it. After all, with all the controversy the P-site is having plus the constant technical issues for no apparent reason, I have considered just biting the forbidden apple. However, I would never go Premium for two simple reasons.

One, I didn't want my work to be liable to another organisation. You see, I'm already working for a boss and writing Spirit Immortal is my escape from real life. I want to have the luxury to do whatever I want with it. If I feel like writing Spirit Immortal no longer becomes fun, and instead it becomes a chore, I will stop it entirely.

Secondly, I quite dislike the Premium system where only the first hundred-odd chapters would be free while the remainder would be locked behind a paywall. Back before Webnovel became this way, I really enjoyed reading through hundreds of chapters and having the latest ten chapters locked. Something like the Wuxiaworld VIP system I guess (which is why I started a P-site with that structure in mind). I'm pretty sure many of you feel the same way. 

In a perfect world, I would love to give you all the chapters for free. After all, I want the story of Spirit Immortal to spread to as many readers as possible. However, the world ain't perfect man. I have to justify spending hours of my time every day to write this novel and passion isn't enough. As they say in my country, what is passion? Is it edible?

Each hour that I spend writing Spirit Immortal is an hour not spent improving my work skills or taking another job, or enjoying life as it is. Thus, I have to implement some sort of paywall to earn money. That's the only way I can bring myself to continue writing the novel, and to create a P-site is the lesser of the two evils I guess?

I sound like I'm berating Webnovel, but I'm really thankful that it has created such a great platform for budding web novelists. No other site in the world can offer what they have, and to give you some perspective, I shall give you the numbers.

I started posting Spirit Immortal on Royalroad on 24th April 2018 and am currently sitting at over 600 followers with 700k views. I posted Spirit Immortal on Webnovel on 29th June 2018, and I have over 5000 readers with over 2 million views. Also, they once placed me on the trending originals page even though they didn't have to. Not to mention the countless of times they featured me on daily.

As much as I loved the freedom that Royalroad had given me, they never once featured me on trending, which is kind of disappointing since I have been posting almost every day. Also, the rating system in Royalroad is kind of annoying. I once dropped 500 ranks due to one 0.5 rating, and after a huge number of 4 or 5-star ratings, it dropped heavily once more due to another 0.5 rating. So now I just ignore ratings altogether and I do the same for almost every novel I read on Royalroad.

Wait, how did I get into this tangent again? Oh right, I was talking about Webnovel's censorship of the P-site. If you really want to support me and read additional content, you can find my P-site link on my website, let's pray Webnovel doesn't censor that as well.

Lillian Grey and Jenna returned home straight after finishing the final interview with 'The Selection' magazine.
The ride back home was silent as the two rested their heads back on the seat to welcome the end of their tightly packed schedule. Jenna started to fall asleep from fatigue. Lillian watched her snore lightly to anyone's notice. She knew the pressure Jenna underwent the week Lillian chose to run away from her life. It was a poor decision as an adult, and Lillian repented for her blunder with deep regrets. She let Jenna sleep without disturbing her and signaled the driver to go slow for her comfort.

Reaching home, Lillian sought for her favorite spot and fell on the couch loosely without care. Jenna closed the door that left open by the careless author.
 The long-stretched couch gave Jenna the option to opt for another spot as she sat down to remove her bag and unpack several documents, her notebook, and her mobile phone.
"All of our invites got attended, and I must say that you did a great job in every interview, as usual, Ms. Grey," Jenna praised as she studied the documents, scribbled on to her note, and checked at the emails for double confirmation.
"You are the best, Jenna," Lillian sang the praise of her editor.
"Now that you are free, you need to-"
Before letting Jenna finish, Lillian rolled away from the couch to walk to her minibar.
"I need alcohol!" she murmured along the way.
"I was going to say that you will need to rest, Ms. Lillian Grey. You have been not resting properly, and that is what you should be doing right now."
Jenna's words fell on Lillian's deaf ears as she ignored to pour a glass of drink and extended the liquor bottle to offer Jenna for company.
Jenna declined the invite.
"Ms. Grey-"
"Jenna!"
"I will get a night of good sleep, but before that, I needed this drink to cheer myself up."
"..."
Jenna failed to go against the reasoning, and she let the author do what she wishes.
Lillian resumed pouring more onto the glass and tasted the alcohol until the stress faded to her senses.
Jenna focused on briefing Lillian about the sales of her published novel. The steady increase in the audience, along with her reader base, the book debuted in second place, following another legendary work of a veteran writer. Apart from it, Jenna smiled at sharing the news of million copies sold already, and the graph is gradually increasing day-by-day.
"It's a success, Ms. Grey. Gill's work received a lot of appreciation from the critics as well. Nevertheless, there are few negative opinions amongst the crowd," Jenna's voice lowered from looking at some of the harsh comments made by few critics and some voracious readers.
"I am not writing to please every single person, Jenna. Whatever we do, some would like while some don't. That's alright. Is there any review that details specifics about the novel or my writing?" Lillian asked after hearing her out.
"There are two reviews where one discussed the vague detailing of a few character's features, and this is because those characters seem to add more tone to the story, another one mentioned his dislike for the positioning of flashbacks. Added to that, a few readers felt some parts too unrealistic to imagine,"
"What are they thinking, am I writing documentary?" Lillian commented and chuckled.
"-And there's a few more that I haven't checked yet! These are only from credential sources," Jenna said.
Lillian agreed and informed Jenna that she would check these conflicting perspectives by herself during free time.
"That's fine! Here, Mr. Norman wants me to give you a copy of this-" Jenna said and handed out a report.
"Why does the chief editor want me to read this?" Lillian glanced at the document to skim its content.
"It's an invitation for a live interview which if you agree to it, they would be glad to make it a unique show by revealing the world of your identity. Mr. Norman received this invitation and asked me to verify it before giving it to you."
Lillian thought about it for a while. All during her writing career, she earned numerous offers to expose her identity. However, Lillian never agreed to it and chose to live as GILL willingly.
"I'll read the proposal and let you know," Lillian said despite her lack of interest regarding the subject.
As the two conversed about work, Jenna kept receiving continuous calls to her phone, and she ended up attending to it.
"Who is it?" Lillian asked.
"Nothing, Ms. Grey. Let's continue with our briefing," Jenna reassured.
The clock ticked till afternoon, and the two empty stomachs growled to interrupt their discussion.
"We've been doing this for long!" Lillian exclaimed from looking at the time.
"Alright, then. We don't have any schedule for now so, go home, Jenna," she added.
Jenna still had things to address, and Lillian insisted her to pause for now.
"You have all the hard copies with you, and I will read it all. Give it to me and leave right now before I get mad," Lillian ordered.
Jenna handed out the documents and sincerely asked Lillian to scan its contents for her reference.
"That call from before- is it something serious?" Lillian asked as it bothered her much.
"It's alright. Nothing serious!"
"Are you sure? Anyways, leave for now, and we'll discuss things later. I will read these documents and let you know," Lillian assured, and only then Jenna left Lillian's place.

With no longer Jenna thriving and reporting, the house became dull and empty all of a sudden. Lillian found the silence to be intimidating. She sat on the couch to watch TV and switched on to a random channel that piqued her interest.
A full-blown hot debate about climate change caught Lillian's attention. She left at that and leaned against the soft couch to rest as she stared at the screen.
The program at first hooked her, and slowly she lost interest in the yelling, screaming, and pointless quarrels. She stood to leave to check for some food on her fridge.
There were beer cans, water, sweet drinks, a few takeouts from a long time ago rotting in the lower tray while a large pizza box with unfinished pizza modeled in front of her. It was from two days ago, and Lillian took it out to heat it before eating.
She places a slice on a plate, made herself fresh tea, and returned to watch the intense deliberation.
As she was about to take a bite of her heated old pizza, Lillian's mobile ring to her alert, and she sighed, worrying if it was Jenna.
The screen displayed another name that made her face go numb.
Lucy is calling Lillian Grey.

While Nie Chang worked away at the notebook Su Yan started thinking about his next story again.
He had never written any original story since he feared that he might not be good enough. Writing an original would require him to craft everything on his own: The world, the characters, the storyline … He didn't feel up to this task even now, although he had written more than twenty fan-fics starting from his schooldays. After all, with a fan-fic, all those big questions had already been answered.
Though, he had been getting bolder with time. At first, he had only written some short fics, some new adventure for the heroes of his favorite novels. Now, he sometimes made some favorite side character of his into the new protagonist and let him have his own novel or he tried to imagine the future of the protagonist or something that had happened far in the past but was never mentioned in the original novel whatsoever.
This time, he actually didn't know what to write. He somehow wanted to try his hands on that reincarnation thing that had been getting popular recently. Wasn't it great? Somebody got a new chance at life, maybe reliving his own life and changing it for the better or waking up in a completely new world where he could cultivate and become immortal when he had been a normal human being before. There were so many possibilities to explore!
He had already read quite a few of such novels but at the moment he just didn't know for which of them to write a fan-fic.
Hm. Maybe I should pick a few of them and then let my readers choose? But what if they chose something he couldn't find inspiration for? Mn, no, it was still better to find something himself. He should just have a look at the synopsis' of his favorite reincarnation novels again.
He turned around and wanted to get his notebook when he remembered that Nie Chang was still working on it.
Ah, damn. So that's impossible. He drummed on the table with his fingers, thinking about what to do. Then, his gaze fell on Nie Chang's notebook.
"Heh, Ah Chang, you've found anything yet?"
"Mh-mh. Nothing yet."
"Then … can I use your notebook for a while? I want to look something up."
"Sure, go ahead. You know the password?"
"No. Tell me!" Su Yan pulled the notebook over and inserted the numbers Nie Chang told him.
Oh? That sequence seemed familiar somehow? He pondered but couldn't quite catch on. Might be something famous from a movie or something like that. Who knew Nie Chang would be this careless with a password? Isn't he supposed to be some expert with computers? Even I know you shouldn't take something like that as a password!
While Su Yan scolded his friend in his heart Nie Chang suddenly looked up, his expression a little taut. He observed Su Yan's face and finally sighed.
Ah, not even recognizing your own date of birth? Damn, that would have been a good opportunity to confess had Su Yan asked.
He could only sigh. Staying over the night … on one hand, it was great since he had many opportunities to finally get into Su Yan's head that he didn't only want to be friends with him but on the other hand it was utterly frustrating because Su Yan managed to misunderstand every single hint he gave.
How could one be so naive in this day and age? Then again, that was what he loved about him. Nie Chang gazed at him a while longer and finally shook his head before he concentrated on the notebook again. Until now, he still hadn't been able to find anything.
Meanwhile, Su Yan got the shock of his life. Just when he had opened up the browser, another window popped up. This time, no voice greeted him but instead a line of text appeared: [Welcome back, host! I am the Lovely Writing System, type Special System K81-3FA5-69, and I was allocated to you to help you gain experiences, further your skills and achieve greatness related to your targeted occupation 'author'.]
Uh … what?
As if the system had analyzed his expression, another line of text appeared: [You were granted a system that will issue tasks related to your chosen career path. Through accomplishing the tasks occupation-related skills will be trained and special missions will be unlocked that will help you achieve the next rank on your path to your targeted goal.]
Su Yan blinked. Eh? This sounded pretty good! Was this really the same strange program that had shocked him this much just an hour ago?
Wait, wait! How did he use this program? Was there some sort of FAQ? He had questions!
Su Yan looked around but he couldn't find anything. In fact, the whole program seemed to consist solely of the big textbox. Should he just start writing there and then those tasks would be issued?
The program once again answered his question: The explanation disappeared and the window was divided into different parts. In one of them, a gray '1' appeared and the word 'Novice' was displayed next to it.
Su Yan lifted his brows. This was …? It looked like some kind of leveling system from a game?
Indeed. An explanation popped up: [The host is currently assessed to be at rank '1 Novice'. Further information can be displayed by clicking on the current rank.]
Su Yan didn't really care about that. He wanted to see the first task! After all, that was probably what would help him gain a rank and — more importantly — further his skills. He just clicked the explanation away and waited for the other parts of the window to reveal themselves.
Soon, the thing he had waited for appeared: A task list occupied the middle part of the window. There was one task displayed there with the title of 'Getting Started' but before Su Yan could click it, another explanation popped up.
He grit his teeth and just clicked it away. He didn't really care for these explanations. Wasn't this just like a simple game? He would totally be able to figure out everything on his own! Thus, Su Yan did the same with the other explanations and finally clicked on the first task:
[Getting Started: To master a technique, basics are needed. To devise the best learning path for the host a test will be personally tailored for him. Please enter some basic information regarding your experiences to set it up.]
Oh! This program actually looked really good. Su Yan's eyes gleamed. Maybe this would really help him become a great author? He clicked on the [Accept]-button and was instantly dumbfounded.
This … What did this have to do with writing?!

Su Yan always wanted to be an author. Being moved by his determination (Well, in fact, she was just an avid reader of his fan-fictions and wanted him to write full time …) official Shen Lu grants the aspiring author a system: The Lovely Writing System!

The days quickly fell into a routine. 
 Everyone else gave up after the first couple of weeks, but not Annie. Annie wouldn't ever give up until she had the answer. Until she had her suspicions confirmed. Vy and Dee were up to something. The three sat together. Vy and Dee next to each other. Annie alternating between the other sides of Vy and Dee. Always staring at the two. Throwing the question at every opportunity. It had become their thing. 
 Vy was studying. No one doubted his intelligence. Many were convinced he was the brainiest in all of the class. The evidence - his average grades despite his absolute refusal to study and even sit in the exams with any seriousness. And so, it was very surprising to see the boy who was extremely vocal about his absence of interest actually studying so hard. He was always with a book open in front of him. And not faking. Because his eyes darted at varying speeds, his lips moved like he was reading soundlessly, his ears shut out all sound. He didn't even listen to the professors, who didn't seem to notice probably due to the seriousness with which he was staring into his book. And then, his notebook came out too. And that was the greatest evidence. He was drawing flowcharts and writing code. 
 As if that wasn't surprising enough, Dee was studying with Vy. He was sharing his notes, explaining what he wrote. And she was listening with all seriousness. She had a lot of doubts. All of which he cleared patiently. And while they studied, their faces were glowing, their eyes were glittering and their smiles were blinding. 
 "What are you guys doing, like really?" Annie asked when she had had enough. 
 She gathered from the bits she heard that Vy was writing an algorithm, and he was explaining it to Dee. But what was it all about? 
 "The project," Dee answered. 
 "We're writing our own replicating program," Vy added. 
 Annie nodded. But she didn't understand. And she didn't care. She was happy to bask in the warmth of the joy of her two dear friends. Dee had been her best friend since the start of college. Now, Vy was too. Annie liked having the brainiest boy in class as her best friend. It sure was something she could boast about, wasn't it? 
 Vy was so absorbed, he completely forgot what was most important. Li. Dee wasn't very different either. Only, she caught Li looking at them strangely. And it was as if she was struck by lightning. 
 "Are you kidding me," she wondered aloud. 
 "What do you mean?" Vy asked, having heard her. 
 "Nothing," she said to him. "Yet," she added much quieter. 
 He nodded, and continued writing. He hadn't actually even looked away from the notebook. She smiled at him fondly. She had always known he was a nerd deep down. He couldn't not be, being so brainy. Looking at his deeply hidden self revealed, she felt he was a lot more like a sweet dork. 
 She let him be absorbed in his head and in the program. And took it upon herself to keep up the surveillance. She couldn't honestly say she wasn't affected by what she saw. 
 It had been long enough for Vy's absence to be filled. The gang at the back, as she called them, and who Vy was once an integral member of, was laughing and talking and entirely themselves. Occasionally curious stares, and rarely glares, came at Vy, but he was blind to them all. Mostly, it was Li. It felt like Li was following them. Whenever Vy and Dee were talking, and their heads came close, Li was looking. When Vy and Dee walked out, Li's eyes followed. When Vy and Dee were walking the hallways, talking and laughing, and their hands found each other, Li glared. And with each passing day, Li was staring and glaring for longer. Until finally, Dee had evidence enough to tell Vy. 
 "Remember your story? Tell me what happens next," she asked suddenly. 
 Vy was thinking about a control structure, when the question blasted him out. 
 "What?" He asked. 
 Dee repeated herself. He gave her a strange look. She was unfazed. He sighed, and answered. 
 "Late into the semester, the fourth, Li gives me a call. Asks to meet. We need to talk she says. Of course, I jump with joy. I rush over. We meet at the pool bar in Fyne's tower. We don't play pool that evening. We sit at a table. Two sodas between us. She complains first. About me having sent the message. And putting the idea in her head. She had been troubled ever since. But I am all happy. With my new friends. That's you and Annie, by the way. I tell her that's not it. She won't believe. So, I tell her there was nothing else I could do. She didn't want to talk to me. She wanted me to stay away. That was what I did. Then she asks a lot of questions about why I sent the message. About how I feel. You know, that sort of thing. In the end, she confesses. She started to like me too. She asks me out. And we're a couple." 
 Dee heard to the end, and her first question was entirely unexpected. 
 "So, you told me the story and asked me for help, because I was the new friend in the story?" 
 Vy was stunned. He needed a whole minute to form the reply. 
 "Seriously? That is all you got from what I said? You're retarded." 
 Dee glared at him. 
 "I'm so retarded, I noticed that Li has been staring at us, longer everyday. Guess the story truly is inevitable." 
 "Really?" Vy asked. 
 An answer wasn't necessary. He didn't doubt her. She saw that in his eyes. Oddly, they felt at ease with the understanding. 
 "Guess I really need your help," he said after a while. 
 "What do you mean?" She asked, a little curious and a little hesitant. 
 "We must fight the story. We must make it seem like we're going out. Like we're a couple." 
 "Are you serious? You want us to lie?" 
 "By the teeth." 
 "And you think it will help?" 
 "Wasn't it you who said we have to do nothing and Li will find Ash? This will help keep her away from us." 
 "I hope this works." 
 His eyes thanked her. Her smile demanded a treat. Their clasped hands evidenced the promise.

He was a cold hearted boy. She was a gentle loving girl. 

She loved him with all her heart. He felt nothing in his heart. 

She was heartbroken. He felt dislike. 

They had been happy a year, and unhappy five years after. 

In the end, she found true happiness. He felt bottomless emptiness. 

The story was a hundred chapters of melodrama, sorrow and tears. 

So, when Vy woke up as the lead at the beginning of the story, he decided to make it his. 

"This is me," he told himself. "This is my story. And I know exactly what this story needs. Some joy and laughter." 

He would take Li, the female lead, to her destined happiness easier and earlier, without the suffering and the heartbreak. That would make for a different, and maybe a nicer, story. 

And he had Dee to turn to for help.

"Is your hand alright?" Feng Bujue asked.
"Huh? Of course it's alright. Even if there's a problem, it's the problem of my in-game character," Xiao Tan replied. "Brother Jue, don't tell me this is the reason you're calling? You know I'm on duty, right?"
This was the afternoon of the following day, and Feng Bujue called Xiao Tan from home.
"Oh… Of course, I was merely concerned about you." Feng Bujue then got to the real reason he was calling. "It's like this… Today, I went out to discuss a cooperation that does not have much to do with writing with the editor."
"Huh?"
"Three days from now, or this coming Saturday, I will go shoot a TV program. It is not that convenient to get over there. I remember that should be your off day, right? How about you come to be my driver for a day?" Feng Bujue said.
"Huh?" Xiao Tan uttered in confusion before yelping louder, "Huh?"
"What's wrong with you?" Feng Bujue's tone though was as normal as ever. "Did you accidentally eat the culture in the petri dish because you thought it was pudding?"
"You're finally getting on the television, Brother Jue! You're going to be famous!" Xiao Tan exclaimed excitedly.
"That's unlikely."
"Finally, in the future, you can earn money while lying down."
"Why do you make it sound like I'm changing to a different kind of career?"
"I mean, you can finally earn your living by relying purely on your loyalty like those big authors. You don't need to force yourself to write every month anymore."
"That's why I said, 'that's unlikely'," Feng Bujue corrected. "Nothing will change; you're overthinking things."
In his excitement, Xiao Tan ignored Feng Bujue's denial. He asked again, "By the way, what program is it, Brother Jue?"
"I am writer," he replied calmly.
"Huh? I know that. I mean, what is the program that you're getting on?"
"I am writer," Feng Bujue repeated.
"Huh?" Xiao Tan seemed to have short-circuited.
"Sigh…" Feng Bujue took a deep breath. "The program is called 'I am writer'. It is a variety game show where the contestants compete to eliminate one another."
"Oh? Then other than yourself, who will be participating?" Xiao Tan asked.
"Don't know, don't care," Feng Bujue replied.
Xiao Tan punched the table and laughed. "Ha ha ha… Brother Jue, you are as amazing as ever."
"Don't know because the information of other contestants is confidential," Feng Bujue explained. "Don't care because caring is pointless… Personally, I wish to show up this once and then get eliminated immediately so that I won't have to go again."
"Don't be like that! This is such a rare chance to get on the television…"
"I do not like appearing around crowds, and leaving too much video evidence of my existence is not my intention either," Feng Bujue said. "If not for the high payment… I wouldn't…"
"Brother Jue, did you inform Master Bao of this?" Xiao Tan asked.
"No. After all, I know you will call him after this anyway, so I'll leave that job to you." Feng Bujue paused before warning him. "Also, please remember this. It is one thing for you to tell Master Bao, but that is where the news stops. Don't go blabbing off to random people about this."
"I won't… do something like that." Xiao Tan raised his pitch to answer.

"In any case… it's decided. This Saturday afternoon, you'll drive me over there, then you're free. Since I don't know how long the recording will take, I'll go back on my own after it's over. After all, I still have some money on my travel card," Feng Bujue said.
"Can I go into the studio to spectate?" Xiao Tan asked.
"No."
"But…"
"No."
"Fine," Xiao Tan grumbled with disappointment. "Then when will the show appear on television?"
"Don't know."
"Never mind, I'll go online to check it myself."
"Don't you need to go do your rounds? I'll talk to you later tonight." Feng Bujue maintained a weak tone from beginning to end.
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
After hanging up, Feng Bujue took another deep sigh. "Hmm… I can only pray that the kid won't go overboard."
Two hours later…
Someone knocked on his door. Feng Bujue cried, "Coming."
But he had just reached the entrance when his guest used the key to open the door.
"I say… Auntie Liu… Since you never need me to open the door, why do you insist on knocking every time?" Feng Bujue sighed.
It was the landlady, Auntie Liu, who stood outside the door. "Well, you young kids need your privacy. What if there's a girl in the room? What if you're doing something not so presentable? Therefore, I always knock first. When I hear your answer, I know that it is okay for me to come in."
"Your sentences are contradictory, and your logic can easily cause misunderstandings…"
"Don't confuse me with stuff like that." Auntie Liu gave him a once-over. "I hear… that you're going to go shoot a movie?"
The first word that burst out of Feng Bujue's mind was an expletive, but on the surface, he only groaned and replied, "Who did you hear this from?"
"I heard it from Auntie Wang at the market." Auntie Liu started to ramble. "Sigh, I say, Xiao Feng, my granddaughter who is ten years old is actually gifted in acting…"
Feng Bujue really felt like slamming his head against the door frame. "Auntie Liu… I am only going to go and record a variety show. It'll end in mere hours. After editing, the show will be made into a concise broadcast of about half an hour. In fact, I doubt I'll even show up on the television for more than ten minutes."
He slowed to take a breath before continuing. "Plus… even if I was going to go shoot a movie, I wouldn't have the ability to arrange your granddaughter to join the cast. You need to find the producer for that…"
"Ah? Is that so?" Auntie Liu was stunned. "How come I hear a different story from our building's security guard? He said that you are going to direct and act in a local production…"
From what she said, it sounded like the news had travelled far beyond Feng Bujue's imagination.
"Fine, fine, fine… You're overthinking stuff, Auntie Liu…" Feng Bujue quickly ended the topic. "Rumors, these are all rumors! I am not even an actor and have no interest in starting a career in acting. I am merely going to join a variety show, kinda like Jeopardy."
"Oh…" Auntie Liu nodded. "Huh? Xiao Feng, when is the show going to be broadcast?"
"What are you planning?"
"What's wrong? It's rare for someone I know to be on television. Can't I stay before the television and watch?"
"Sure…" Feng Bujue was helpless before her. "The recording is this coming Saturday, so I'll ask the crew then. Don't worry, in a few days, I will hand over this month's rent, the money that I owe you from the cat, and the news of the broadcast all at the same time. Is that good enough?"
"That's a promise then. I will wait to hear from you," Auntie Liu said.
"Alright… See you around…" Feng Bujue tried his best to chase the woman away. He closed the door and leaned against it, sighing. "The rate of this rumor travelling and changing is preposterous… In another forty-eight hours, people might even believe I'm leaving the country to accept an Oscar."
He shook his head while returning to his room. He applied the three locks on the door, including the chain lock. Then, he went to the gaming hub, removed his shoes, and crawled into it.

Hey!! It's me, i have to pause the story temporary...
When I was doing my exam today my backpack fell to the ground and my laptop was there, so, it stopped working, i can't write without it and even my class notes are there (I had to buy a pen and a notebook for the time being)
I know some of you really enjoyed the story, so it makes me really sad to make this announcement and the desicion to stop writing...
I'll not drop the story! I'll try to get the money to repair my little boy and I'll release extra chapters when I get it back :)
