A slight pain goes through my brain, i start writing inside my space for 8 hours straight, as Miriam told me i could write really quickly, in one night i could write one book
at the end of the week i will go to a publishing house it would need at least a month before they start making the book, and after that it wold need 2-3 month before the first income worse case scenario.

i waited for him to attack to see how strong he is, Kiba  disapear and reappear  behind me it was so slow for me i had all the time in the world to defend myself , but i atttck the moment he reappear i was already slashing at his head, he did well parrying my sword but not fast enough i  reappear behind him to make him faint but he could deflect the back of my sword

Chapter 2. Back to the starting line (2)

Light novels in this world are quite similar to his previous world.

There were many similar genres like isekai, battle academy and mechs but the story in this world make more sense.

Light novels in his previous world often has plot holes but in this world, the plot holes are minimum.

But the overall quality of light novels are still less when compared to his world.

Most of the stories are of the harem and fantasy genre but there were not many novels he liked.

Rei was looking for a classic novel like «Sword art online» or «Konosuba» but there weren't many classics.

Although he found some good novels, they weren't able to captivate him like the light novels from his world.

As he was not finding any good novels, he started searching information about the publishing houses in Sakura island.

He found out that there are three major publishing houses in regards to light novels. 

The first was <Syotsu publishing>, it was a famous publishing house and has quite a reputation in the industry.

It also has produced many works and many promising authors wanted their books to publish in this company.

The second was the <GM publishers>, it was a publishing house which had grown in the last few years. 

It has published some bestselling novels which also had gotten adapted to animes.

The third was the <Shino medias>, it was a newly established publishing house which was just started 2 years ago but it had produced some good works.

It's best novel has been the «Mech contractors», a story about a 15 year old mechanic who got transported in the future.

The novel has been made into a manga and a anime series has also been announced.

That was the information Rei was able to find about the publishing houses and the novels.

He also noted down some information about the top literature books and some light novels, he will buy when he got his pocket money.

After doing that, he noticed that the day had already ended.

After eating dinner, he moved to his bed to sleep but he wasn't able to sleep.

It was a daily occurrence, Rei wasn't able to sleep properly as he was afraid that when he wake up tomorrow, he will be in his own world.

That was Rei's fear as he didn't wanted to go to his old life.

He started thinking about different things to stop him from sleeping but he wasn't able to stop himself from sleeping.

Like that, several days pass away. It was the start of his vacation, so there was no school. 

Rei was able to laze around everyday and think about his future.

He will sometimes read books he had bought from his savings and contemplate if he wanted to take the same path or not.

Rei knew he wanted to be a writer but he was too fearful to do it, he was scared of failure.

At one side he wanted to be a writer but the other side was telling him to be a star.

The previous host dreams and desires were still with Rei and he can't do anything about it.

There was a war going on in his insides. 

Rei started to notice that he would subconsciously always pick up a pen. His instincts were telling him to write but he didn't knew what to write.

"Ah, let's take the chance"

Finally, after struggling with it for some days, he finally made up his resolve to write.

He didn't knew if he will succeed or not but he will accept any result.

It was his second chance, he didn't wanted to waste it away.

As for becoming a star, he decided to take it one by one.

Now, the question was to what to write, Rei had several stories in his head but he didn't knew which to choose.

He also didn't knew if he will able to write like before. Because of alcohol and drugs, his writing had degraded and he wasn't sure if he will able to write like before.

That's why he decided to write famous novels to make his writing better.

Rei didn't get any cheat from his reincarnation but he did get something.

It was his mind, which was changed to become something like a memory chip.

Rei can literally remember everything that had happened in his previous life.

Not in brief but in full detail. If he tried to remember a book, he will able to recall all the lines of the book in a serial order. He was even able to tell where the commas would be.

He can recall every book, movie or song he had read or seen in full detail.

It was like his brain was a computer.

That's why Rei was able to easily copy the famous novels he had read in his previous life.

He started copying novels like «Harry Potter and the philosopher stone» and «Your name».

That's how he spent his remaining vacation. Copying works from his world and and writing his novel alongside it.

It was tiring to write everyday but he got used to it and the main reason he was doing it was because he was enjoying it.

Although his parents were worried about him, he didn't care as he was really enjoying it.

He poured every bit of frustration he had with his life in his original work.

And after writing and revising for a whole month, his first book was finally completed.

When Gun-Ho entered the office next door, the design workers stood up altogether.
"Hi. I came with President Jeong-Sook Shin here. She will join you starting today."
"Hi. I've heard a lot about you. My name is Min-Sook Oh."
"You look familiar. Have we met before?"
"I've done some contracting work for KimBooks before."
"Oh, I see. That's why you look so familiar. Nice to meet you. I'm Jeong-Sook Shin."
Min-Sook introduced the other two workers to her.
"This lady here worked in the design team with me. And the lady here, she handled administrative work for our previous company."
"Oh, is that right? Have you worked with a publishing application before?"
"No, not yet."
"We will start using a publishing application at work. The daily orders from Kyobo Book Center and Yes24 for example or some other companies will be all handled using the software. We will use the publishing application for our shipping request as well."
 
When Jeong-Sook started talking with her employees about the work at the publishing company, Gun-Ho stood up to leave.
"Alright. I will leave you all here so you could comfortably talk about the work. I have an important meeting I need to attend anyway."
President Shin quickly handed a piece of paper to Gun-Ho.
"What is this?"
"It's a list of the books we will publish."
"Haha. If you are okay with the book selection, then I am okay with it. I totally leave the decision up to you to use your discretion. Manager Kang, why don't you hand over the company bank account and credit card to President Shin?"
"Yes, sir."
Manager Kang handed the new publishing company's bank book and business credit card to Jeong-Sook. Gun-Ho then walked out of the office. They will talk further about the details of the tasks and things of their publishing company.
 
The workers came to the front door of the office to see Gun-Ho leaving.
"Today is the first day of the company. Why don't you celebrate by having lunch in a nice restaurant all together today?"
 
Gun-Ho then headed to Asan City.
Gun-Ho was having a cup of coffee in the morning with several directors and managers when the plant manager brought up the topic about Jae-Sik Moon.
"The security guard who used to work night shift here quit the job. I heard he is someone you know, sir."
"I recently established a publishing company named GH Media. He will be working for that company as a chief editor."
"A chief editor?"
"Yes. He used to work in the publishing field, and his novel has recently been selected for an award. The prize was 50 million won."
"Oh, I see. I didn't know he was a writer. Well, I think I saw him writing something in his security guard office. I guess he was writing a novel."
The people in the office all laughed together.
"That's good for him. He didn't seem to fit in here anyway. He was inept at the work, and I was thinking of letting you know about it. Well, he found a job that fits in with his talent. I am happy for him."
Gun-Ho was picturing Jae-Sik sitting at a desk writing and working with books that he loved. Gun-Ho felt happy for Jae-Sik.
 
After having a morning meeting with managers and directors, Gun-Ho checked his email. There was an email from President Jeong-Sook Shin; it said,
"President Goo, I understand that I don't have to give you a daily report; however, I believe I need to let you know the decision on the books which we will be publishing, and the salaries of the workers. Here is the list of books we plan to publish."
President Shin listed six books. The book list showed mostly the books about self-development that could be easily read by readers, except 'Economy Trend in China for the 21st Century' authored by Professor Jien Wang. Three of them were written by Japanese writers, and two of them were authored by famous Korean columnist.
"The book titles of these books are very provocative."
Gun-Ho then looked at the workers' salaries.
"President Shin 3.5 million won, Chief Editor Jae-Sik Moon 2.5 million won, Min-Sook Oh 2.2 million won, Assistant designer and administrative staff 1.9 million won."
"I told her that I would pay her 5 million won, but she lowered it to 3.5 million won for herself. I guess she was concerned about what other workers would think about her receiving a high salary now when the company even haven't started generating revenue. However, I know she will ask me to raise it once a book starts selling. She seems to be a sensitive person about money."
 
Gun-Ho was reading an economic newspaper when the sales director entered his office.
"Sir, this is the product cost that we will bring to S Group."
"How much is the product cost per unit?"
"It's 4,800 won."
"The labor cost is 860 won, huh?"
"Yes. The labor cost is divided into three different labors: handling the extruding machine and mixing the chemicals, and cutting work, and lastly quality assurance and wrapping."
"Is this based on the next year's projected labor cost?"
"No. We used this year's labor cost. We need to base this year's labor cost for the products that will be manufactured this year."
"The product unit cost seems to be very high. What costs are included?"
"It includes electricity and rent for the factory."
"A rent for the factory?"

Gun-Ho signed on the production cost.

"How much do you think they will ask in their first order?"
"I am not so sure, but I am expecting that they will ask us to produce about 50,000 units."
"50,000… It's 240 million won then."
The sales director was surprised by that, Gun-Ho calculated the revenue without using a calculator.
'He has an excellent number of sense and high capacity for mental computation. Wow. No wonder he succeeded at his young age.'
 
"Have we received enough raw materials from Dyeon America already for those first 50,000 product unit?"
"We received 3 tons of raw materials so far. We are unloading it right now using a forklift truck."

"Can we have two workers from the research center assigned to our sales department once the research center is dissolved?"
"I will send you one worker."
"We need two of them, sir. We need at least two more people in order to strengthen our sales capacity."
"Let's talk about it later then."
"Okay, sir. I will leave now."

"So the reason why you didn't go to Hainan with us, was because you actually wanted to stay home and write a novel? I thought you gave up on writing and wanted to become an actor?" Jiang Dejun asked, completely puzzled.

"Yeah, Xiao Cheng, are you picking up writing again?" Jiang Cheng's mother Gao Linlan asked puzzled.
 
"I never put it down and I still plan to act. I've had the idea for [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] for a while now but I was afraid of affecting my studies, so I pushed it aside till now!" Jiang Cheng lied.

"But when did you become interested in history? Let alone the Ming Dynasty?" Jiang Dejun quizzed, still with doubts.

"There's a quote online that sparked my interest and gave me inspiration - There is no China without the Qing Dynasty and no Qing Dynasty without the Ming Dynasty. I became very interested in the Ming Dynasty, so I collected information and began to write a book about the Ming Dynasty. A lot of it is thanks to your collection, Dad! Otherwise I couldn't find such a wealth of information on my own."  Jiang Cheng said, pointing to the thick stack of history books on the computer desk.

Bright Moon was his son.

Jiang Dejun thought, realizing the reality of his situation. He was stuck in two minds, pride and sheer surprise, his son had surpassed his expectations with this one. 
 
When he learned that Jiang Cheng wasn't just randomly hiding behind the scenes but in actual fact waiting for them to arrive back in order to discuss the matter of publishing. Jiang Dejun and Gao Linlan were relieved and the issue of publishing [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] became the main focus.

"I suggest you choose one of those large publishing houses. I think People's Literature Publishing House would be good. These large-scale publishing houses are generally more formal. They have their own sales models and networks, but they are also more prone to bullying. Their share splits are very low, and authors can generally only get 5 to 15% of book sales. 

Only well-known authors and novels can get over 15%. But the average author can only take less than 8%. So when you talk to these publishers, you must pay attention to grasp their bottom line and maintain your bottom line as well or else they will squeeze you dry." Jiang Dejun as an industry expert explained, giving advice.

Jiang Cheng understood the principle but seeing how badly authors were currently being squeezed, he couldn't help but feel slightly unresigned.

The sound of keyboard filled the room. The room was dark and only the light coming out of the computer could be seen.

The man working on the computer was old, probably in his mid 40s. He had a shaggy beard and his eyes were tired of life. He looked more like a beggar than someone working in the office.

His name was Ren. He is a author, no, he was a author. He now only write articles for a third grade newspaper, how could he still call himself a author.

There was a time when Ren was still a glorious author living his dream life. That was, when he was 21 years old.

He unexpectedly won that competition and his book was going to be published. It was like a dream come true for him. 

He was able to prove to his parents that he can make a living as a author and his parents were all smiles when they saw the cheque he received for publishing his book.

Next was his book release, it was more nervous back then. He wanted his book to do well but he was also nervous thinking whether his book will sell or not but luck was again on his side.

His book became one of the best sellers and he unexpectedly won a literary award for it.

After that, his everyday life was filled with media interviews and autograph signing events.

He became famous because of this and he also started appearing on reality shows and radio broadcasts. 

It was like he was living as a superstar. 'The youngest genius in literature' fits well with the public, So he got more and more famous.

He was living his dream life but the problem was his next book. His next book was a test for him to see if he was here to stay or not. 

At that time, his success has blown up his head. He thought that as long as he wrote a decent book, it will surely be a bestseller.

He thought that his books will sell just because of his fame but he forgot that books sell through their content not fame.

His next book was a disaster. The publishing company did huge promotional activities to promote his book but it all went down in drain.

He was harshly criticised for his sloppy writing and weak plot. Several people wrote mean comments on his social media accounts. 

From a star, he was now just a failed author.

He received a major backlash after his book failed. His publishing house cancelled his contract and the parents who were smiling happily seeing the cheque previously kept saying that his decision was wrong and he should have listened to them. 

His downfall began from there. His next few books were also disasters. He wasn't able to write like before. It was like his talent had been stolen by someone.

After that, he did various things to survive. He wrote genre novels and he even worked as a screenwriter but all of them failed.

He became depressed after that. His failures kept stinging him in the back. He even tried to suicide but he was too afraid to do that.

He can only drown himself in alcohol. With that, he became a alcoholic. He lived like that for many years.

It was only when he reached his 40s that he was tired of his life. All of his sorrows were devoured by alcohol and he now wanted to live a better life. 

He again started to write after that. He wrote for nearly six months and finally completed a story but no publisher was ready to publish it.

He already had a bunch of failures before and no publishing house wanted to take that risk even if the story was good.

He again felt despair because of this but he knew he have to survive somehow. That's why he got a job at this second rate newspaper.

He had to write hundreds of articles daily just to survive but what can he do, only a black company would accept someone like him.

'It's already 12:55 A.M.'

Ren stopped typing and rubbed his sleepy eyes as he glanced at the time. The clock was nearing towards 1:00 A.M. which means that a new day had already begun.

'Today I became 47 years old. I am closing towards my 50s.'

Today was Ren's birthday and it was his 47th birthday and in just three years, he will be in his 50s. It was a sad truth for him.

Ren was already a old man but he didn't have anyone to rely on. He don't have any wife as no women would be willing to go out with Ren after seeing his haggard appearance.

It was another sad truth for him. He was really lonely.

As he was thinking of starting working again, the lights of the room suddenly lit up. 

"Manager Shin."

"Oh, Ren you are still here. I thought you already went home."

"I have some articles to write."

The person who entered the room was Manager Shin. He was a young man in his 20s and he is all set to become the next head of the department in a few months.

Despite being young, he was successful completely unlike Ren. His success can be dedicated to his good academic background and his handsome face which even managed to charm the daughter of the president of the company.

Ren didn't like talking to someone who was younger than him with honorifics but he had no choice. He was just a employee while the other person was the manager.

"You can just do your work. I am just here to take my phone which I forgot while leaving."

Manager Shin said as he went to the inner office to find his phone. After a while, he came back with a phone in his hand and while flaunting the phone in his hand, he said to Ren.

"Oh yeah, Ren. I just got the message that Misaki-san will not come to work tomorrow. It seems like she had high fever but the problem is that she had to write some articles about the new book which became a bestseller recently. I hope you can write it instead of her."

"I am tired and I don't want...."

Before Ren could finish his sentence, Manager Shin clicked his tongue and interrupted him.

"Ah, Ren you are a senior here, you should help the juniors and it's only a few articles. You also were a best selling author in the past right. This topic would be easier to write for you. I will be hoping to see those articles on my desk tomorrow."

Manager Shin said as he left the room but Ren definitely heard him mutter 'Did he really think that he is still a best selling author? Fucking failure!'. 

Ren was obviously angry at those words but he can only swallow his anger. He had been listening to things like this since the day he became a failure, he was rather used to it.

'Fucking more articles!'

While cursing, he started searching for information about the bestselling books. It was a bestselling book by a debut writer and it's been on the top for a while now.

It was a situation which was very similar to Ren's. A debut work becoming a bestseller was really unusual. It had to be a great book for it to achieve that.

'Sigh!'

After a while of writing, Ren didn't wanted to continue it. It was because he keep remembering his past while writing the articles.

His glorious days, his fame and his failure…..he didn't wanted to remember it at all.

He took out his smartphone and started checking the messages. It was his birthday but there was no congratulation message and he knew there would be no one congratulating him in the future either.

He don't have any friends and even his relationship with his parents have become desolate. He was really a lonely person wasting oxygen.

As he was looking through some online novels, a sudden message arrived on his phone. It was from a SNS site he frequented on.

It was a message sent by a person whose username was Rowling Panties.

Rowling Panties: Killeray-san, happy birthday to you. I wish you a very happy year. >_<

Ren finally remembered that he had written about it in his profile. The site had asked for his information. So, he had just filled it without thinking much.

Nevertheless, Ren was slightly happy as someone had congratulated him.

Killeray: Rowling panties-san, you know that was my first congratulations in several years. Thank you very much.

They exchanged casual conversation for a while and after around ten minutes, the conversation got deeper.

Rowling panties: Really! You were the author of that book. It was actually one of my favourite books. You are pretty famous back then.

Killeray: Yeah, I was. My first book was a success but after that, my career gone downhill because of my wrong choice and now, I am writing articles for a second rate newspaper. lol.

Rowling panties: Yeah, if only you would have made some correct choices, your life would be very much different than today. T_T

Killeray: Yeah, I wish I could turn back time and go to my youth. I will be sure to change my life then.

Rowling panties: Yeah but turning back time is impossible. Do you have any other wishes?

Killeray: Wishes? I don't want anything other than wanting to start my career as a author again. ^_^

After that, there was no more replies for around 10 minutes and Ren also got tired waiting. He was sleepy and tired. He wanted to sleep for a while.

That's why he simply laid down on his desk and closed his eyes. He was really fatigued.

After Ren had fallen sleep, his mobile screen lit up as there was another message.

Rowling panties: I can't send you back in time but as for your wish. I can do that. I also wanted to see what can you achieve if you really got a second chance as a author. Don't disappoint me, my friend.

That was the last message which made the beginning of Ren's journey as one of the best authors in history.

Fame, wealth, prestige, genius, destruction, despair, loss and failure.

Those are the eight words which describes Ren's life completely.

He was hailed as a genius but his arrogance led him to despair. From a genius, he became a failure.

Firstly, I just want to give a seriously sincere apology. I read a really heartbreaking review just now where a reader said they were giving up on the story because of my slow updates. For all the early readers, most of you know I have always been slow on updates due to juggling my studies and work which were always a priority to me.

I have been busy recently working on publishing the first volume of "A Gatekeeper and the Celestial Sovereign" as a Paperback/Hardback with illustrations (proofreading, editing, typesetting etc). 
I have been working with an amazing artist named Rodrigo Gil Chavez who has made some amazing art for the upcoming physical Book. 
You can see the trailer for the book and some of the great art on my website, Writing Pilgrimage, or on my Youtube which has the same name. 
 I really wanted to make something special for all my amazing readers who have stayed with me despite my slow updates to commemorate the end of the first arc which is only two chapters away.

Because I've been working on that and I was waiting on a good time to announce it, I have been holding back on publishing more chapters.
I feel awful though for making you all wait and for having a lot of you disappointed in me.
So I will publish the last two chapters of this arc/volume this Saturday at 10am GMT.

Hey MLW readers! This PSA is LONG overdue! I know I have been on an unexpected hiatus from writing...some of you or maybe all of you are disappointed & have been waiting forever. But, like always, I have been super busy with personal things and I'm about to transfer to a new University. Luckily I am still able to write occasionally and have more plot for you all. 

So why haven't I been posting then?

 It's simple...I just feel bad for not being able to keep up with posting every week when I am so busy. It's been difficult for me to juggle a lot of things at once and making sure I am satisfied with the chapter before putting it out there. I don't wanna write and write mindlessly--just to keep up with publishing. Therefore, MLW will be on hiatus for the time being, kind of like a break from publishing I will still be writing on my spare time, so when I do come back, I will have weeks and weeks worth of plot for you all (Hopefully my writing gets better too haha).  I can't give you guys a confirmed date on when I will be back, and I certainly don't want to get your hopes up--but I will give you guys a SUPER rough estimate. I think around late October or mid-November is when I will be back on my grind (publishing consistently).  Take this with a grain of salt! It is an estimate! If anything, it could be earlier because I just get super excited to show you guys what happens next. Anyway, I want to wrap this up with an apology.

I'm so sorry for not saying anything sooner! 

When I do come back, I wish that you all stick around to see the continuation of My Lost World.

      Actually, this is a book which I had plans of publishing way back but couldn't do so due to some unfavorable circumstances. So when I decided to start publishing my writings I didn't notice that this book is actually being published under a contest I had signed up but couldn't submit my works. Though I know it's quite of me to realize it only now but I want to correct my mistake so I'm going to restart this book and publish it as a normal novel and not under any competition. So I'll continue writing this under a new name and I'll provide with more chapters as a sincere apology from my side.
          Thank you for appreciating my work and I deeply apologize for the inconvenience I might have caused. But I'm not gonna remove this straight away, I'll wait till my readers know that I'm continuing this work under a new name, "The tale of Love"...
          I hope you all will support my creation under this new name. I'll be waiting for you guys.
