"Nice to meet you, honored Starfighter Pilot Michel Anderson. Come in."

Many volunteers conveyed his way with a greet and respect. If not about his promotion and current advancement, he would not wear any fancy garments with Starfighter badge on his chest. When the hatch opened, applause greeted him.

"Congratulation, Honored pilot!" 

"Congratulations, Mister Anderson, sandman will jump into scare because of your determination."

Michel ignored all praise, applause, and began to take a sip of tea. After settled on his fancy chair in front of the leader, he slowly opened his mouth.

"We have to talk."

Before he said more, Foley waved his hand as a signal for them to leave them both alone.

They instantly walked away, left with an important person that got a right to convey his meeting.

"Nobody can survive, Sir." he glared intensely and continued, "if you just serve the volunteers with cheap-ass starfighter you build with mech designer manufacturing line with only indecent knowledge about starfighter. Many consequences of hazardous scenarios if you stay in those ways."

Foley nodded, "I already expected that. Honorable pilot, Mister Anderson. Without another determination another pilot has, you are the first pilot born in our sphere. We do you a favor for your advancement."

"Don.." he stopped for a while, "I am not only here to hear, Sir. Do my new rank got right to issue a request?"

"Sure, if you want a troop for your new starfighter squad and better starfighter. We will order it for you. In fact, we do you a favor to convey your advancement in despite anyone think it has done a harsh way. You have to know this. There are too many norms in Bright Republic. With starfighter, we give an enormous chance to do their favor to reach a new threshold. Unlike Mech Corp, they relied on neural aptitude scores to gain a qualification, controlling the mech."

"Because of that, you should..."

"Hold on" Foley halted the discussion.

"How about you, advisor. Do you have any opinion?" Foley asked another opinion from his advisor that also chief technician.

"For now, we only incorporated the armor and mobility to medium armor starfighter, and more ballistic and gauss gun to protect the pilots from ranged attack but it seems the situation has changed according to the video we received."

"Now we have the solution." he grinned, "We need someone who can give a mech designer some advice to protect the volunteer. Unlike mech designer and a technician who awfully inexperienced to accommodate starfighter pilot, you may be a decent candidate to do so." he smiled at him which also reacted with an alert from the honored pilot.

"No way! I only want to kill the sandman. That is all!" he retorted. He was only runaway norm from a border state. 

He waved his hand, "Situation change now, Mister Michel. It is not like we don't have the first person that has experience with the sandman"

Foley continued, "Furthermore, Starfighter is still new for Bright Republic even us, even designer had an awful experience with it. Mostly, the starfighter you previously ride was grown from an idea of government representative, it was a medium one relied on firepower, better armor, and mobility to evade."

"Different from another norm who has not received it yet, medium starfighter needed more time to produce because many technicians did not familiar with a new part of design."

"Another word, there is a high chance for mech designer to build more crappy starfighter?"

The leader nodded, "Once it entered our sphere, don't bother! million even dozen million starfighter pilot, the chance for them to crash will exceptionally high, and you don't want that to happen, do you?"

Michel fell silent for a while and frowned, "Even you say it so.. Starfighter still impossible to be the same gap against the sandman fleet."

"Be optimistic, honored pilot. You want to honor your friend, do you? As an honored pilot, Starfighter Corp will promote you into a new rank to accommodate your new squad as a lieutenant. More than that, you formally become part of Starfighter Corp. if you are interested, we will give you special privilege to request your custom starfighter."

"Just give my subordinate a better starfighter, not ball-shaped one with only lowly ballistic and small turret. Also, Leader cannot mess around with sandman when million of pilots became their prey."

He did not refuse that fact as he, "I feel sorry for them, but we never insist on someone to be volunteers. But, we do a norm the best favor to contribute for Bright Republic."

"So.. all you doing is sacrifice your own..?"

"Nope.. volunteer is free to falling back. No one insists on them to contribute. We forced the government to give privilege for starfighter to fall back into the carrier because the situation already changed outside our expectations. However.. we got the light for all volunteers. You know what I mean?"

"Wait! you will give them a better one?"

"Of course, that is why we need your contribution. No one exceptional than you." he began to send him a contract, "This is our offer contract for you. please read it carefully. No one special than you on this rank."

Michel's comm beeped and a document with agree tab on it. He just got a checklist on it before the expired date. Michel read on it for a while and the meeting room falls into a hush.

For them, pilot advice was crucial for starfighter development. Besides that, most blame for rushed starfighter design fell into the hand of leader.

Because of that, Foley tried to lean his choice without taking some suggestions from the government due one of the volunteers began to grow mature and advanced. 

Furthermore, He could save many million life once experienced pilot gave guidance regarding how should starfighter worked against sandman.


No one wanted those problems to occur again! Starfighter Corp had to change no matter what with any opportunity they can get!

Many pilots despised that old wound, maybe this is the time to optimize pilot on-site to build Starfighter back into the trend of humanity and elevated its name.

He grinned behind his mask. 

As long he played his card right, Starfighter Corp won't be deemed as a scapegoat for Mech Corp!

The Larkinson Family enjoyed a high reputation in the Bright Republic. The mech pilots bearing this distinguished name always lifted their heads in pride as they perpetuated the legacy of their predecessors.
However, these Larkinson pilots only represented a fraction of the family. Though the Larkinsons possessed good genes, the demand on genetic aptitude was simply too stringent.
Most descendants who grew up in this distinguished military family would inevitably have their dreams crushed when they reached ten. Upon learning that their genetic aptitude was not up to par, their path to becoming a noble mech pilot turned out to be a distant illusion.
This was a bitter pill to swallow for many young Larkinsons. Ves himself had wasted his entire teenage years because it took this long to get over his profound disappointment.
Fortunately, most Larkinsons readjusted quickly. The Larkinsons never stigmatized or looked down on the norms in the family. Each of them were related by blood, after all. No matter if they were potentates or norms, the Larkinsons always stuck together without any pretensions of status or superiority.
Moses Larkinson used to be one of those crushed ten-year old kids. Seeing a handful of cousins emerge out of the testing center with smiles hurt him deeply.
From that day on, the friends he used to wrestle with became the future pride of the family. The new potentates no longer had time to play silly games or waste their time on idle past-times.
The training of a Larkinson mech pilot started immediately. In order to ensure that each Larkinson started off with a strong foundation and solid specialization, they needed to undergo a training regime that was far more arduous than the courses offered by the mech academies.
If not for the strong will and belief in the Larkinson heritage, most of the potentates in the family would have spat blood and given up early.
Of course, none of that had anything to do with Moses Larkinson. Though the family did its best to avoid treating norms as rejects or lesser beings, the lack of attention from the greatest of Larkinsons became very clear.
Many Larkinson norms eventually accepted their fate. They turned their attention to other vocations. With the help of their name and the modest financial support of their family, they could easily pursue other careers.
Some became respected doctors who worked at major hospitals.
Others studied business in order to land an easy job managing some of the assets of the Larkinson Estate.
Of course, a disproportionate amount of Larkinsons still chose to serve in the armed forces.
Even if the Mech Corps centered around mechs and mech pilots, they still required a lot of support to function optimally on the battlefield.
Many Larkinsons, by virtue of their background, rose up to become a part of the backbone of the Mech Corps.
Each of them served in the Mech Corps because they felt compelled to do so. It was the Larkinson way.
Moses Larkinson happened to be one of them. Leveraging his high understanding of mechs due to growing up in a family obsessed with them, he worked his way up the ranks of the Mech Corps as a tactical officer.
He even participated in the Bright-Vesia Wars, earning a respectable amount of merits and honor to satisfy his obligation as a Larkinson.
To Moses, it wasn't enough. Even if he did his duty, he always felt that he had it easy compared to the mech pilots who risked their lives directly at the forefront of the battlefield.
There was still a difference between mech pilots and norms.
With the war between the Bright Republic and the Vesia Kingdom over, Moses still found himself with a void within his heart.
He languished in his duties ever since the Bright Republic returned to peace.
There may not be another war in twenty to thirty years. That was far too long for an impatient man like Moses.
Was he really destined to spend the bulk of his service in peace?
Then the Sand War erupted.
The horror that had beset the Komodo Star Sector shocked every Brighter. Border states with hundreds of years of history fell within a matter of weeks or months. The endless onslaught of sandman fleets overwhelming defenses sparked one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies in the star sector in hundreds of years!
The citizens of the Bright Republic became frightened when they heard about the collapse of so many states and the deaths of trillions of humans.
A war was coming, one that was greater and more terrible than the ones they fought before!
Yet to certain people like Moses Larkinson, he felt as if he found his true calling in this crisis.
Defending humanity against alien aggression was one of the most noble callings imaginable!
Since the Age of Mechs, most conflicts between humans and aliens had subsided. Many races were self-aware enough to avoid poking the strongest civilization in the galaxy.
As for humanity, the Big Two did not consider the risks of further expansion to be worthwhile. To fight any further would risk depleting an already-exhausted civilization. With so many lives at stake, the CFA and MTA could not afford to overextend their forces!
For this reason, clashes between civilizations became rare. So much so that many Brighters never imagined fighting against an alien race in their lifetimes.
To a Larkinson like Moses, the sandman crisis actually came as an opportunity.
Once the Bright Republic unveiled the Starfighter Corps, Moses saw his opportunity!
"I have to volunteer!"
Due to his accomplishments in the Mech Corps and the reputation of his family name, Moses immediately became an officer candidate of the Starfighter Corps.
While his piloting skills were just as average as any hastily-trained starfighter pilot, his discipline, wartime experience and dedication soon elevated him above his peers.
It took less than a month for him to become a Starfighter Captain and deploy to the front.
The brass randomly allocated him to lead a starfighter wing of the 243th Greedy Luxers.
Like every other starfighter regiment, the 243th only existed for a very short time.
Compared to his old mech regiment, the Greedy Luxers did not benefit from a long and storied history. The lack of martial tradition and camaraderie became very evident as Moses tried to forge his starfighter wing from a random collection of volunteers into a band of brothers.
"Captain Larkinson!" The comm in his starfighter crackled as Moses tried to dance away from the barrage of lasers fired by the distant sandman swarm! "Cover the mercenaries as best you can as we advance!" 
Moses gritted his teeth as his starfighter endured a number of hits. He hit back as best as possible by firing the ballistic weapon mounted on his spacecraft, but he had little hopes of hitting one of the sandman drones at this range. 
"Acknowledged, sir." He replied to his superior. "My men will keep up, though they will pay for it with their lives."
The price of closing distance to the sandmen was too costly to bear. Moses barely made it out alive in previous actions. Would he be lucky enough to be spared from the sandmen this time?
He shook his head and tried his best to immerse his mood in the distant glow of a Desolate Soldier hovering in the vicinity of his starfighter regiment.
Glancing at the mech designed by the most successful norm of the Larkinson Family in its entire history peppered him up. Respect and awe suffused his face as he recalled the incredible accomplishments of its designer.
Ves was a true role model of the norms in the family!
Even without piloting a mech, his accomplishments already put him on equal terms with the expert pilots among the Larkinsons!
Something like that had never occurred! Every norm, Moses included, took inspiration from his rise!
Just because they lacked the aptitude to pilot mechs did not mean they were destined to be sidelined!
Each Larkinson possessed the potential to become a hero!
Moses firmed up and commanded his starfighter pilots to advance.
His subordinates responded shakily. The torrent of laser beams had never relented. It took a lot of courage to advance into the storm!
As his wing formation grew more and more ragged, Moses continually exhorted his men to push forward!
"Are you pigs or starfighter pilots?! Remember your training!"
"Endure! The lives of 700 million citizens are at stake!"
"The swarm is already beginning to shrink!"
None of his subordinates were anything alike his former comrades in the Mech Corps.
Most of the 'volunteers' had been lured into serving in the Starfighter Corps through deceptive means. Once they realized the dangers, it was too late for them to withdraw!
"The only way to survive is to fight!"
"Heroes never falter!"
"Your brothers and sisters are counting on you!"
His job as a starfighter captain mostly amounted to managing rookies. The naive and gullible starfighter pilots had to be treated carefully and with constant encouragement in order to keep them in formation.
If not for the Desolate Soldier accompanying their wing, Moses was sure that at least half of his subordinates would have fled by now!
"We're getting close! Focus on evasive maneuvers! Let the mechs whittle down the swarm!"
The starfighters under his command vigorously flew side to side, though its thrusters weren't powerful enough to fool sandman targeting systems.
Moses merely wanted to give his starfighter pilots the illusion that their sluggish maneuvers could make a difference in preserving their lives.
Giving his subordinates the illusion that they had control over their own fate was just one of the many lies he had been instructed to tell.
Once his wing arrived in position, their formation remained in place as the mechs using the starfighters as cover began to target the sandman drones with greater accuracy.
The initial results were better than Moses expected of mercenaries.
Hundreds of mechs and starfighters joined the fray. Moses even spotted a handful of the newfangled Dawnbreakers shooting down the sandman drones with abandon!
Though numerous starfighters exploded all around him, the sandman swarm dearly paid for these small successes.
"The swarm is disintegrating!"
"We took out one of their sandman admirals early!"
Roars of victory flooded the communication channels! Everyone expressed their raw relief at this hard-fought victory!
Though a number of sandman admirals still persisted, their advantage in numbers continually grew smaller and smaller until they didn't have any drones left to threaten the human defenders.
The battle was won!
Unfortunately, as Moses and his ragged subordinates flew back to their carrier, he had no choice but to tally their losses.
Less than twenty starfighter pilots gathered together at one of the hangar bays. Each of them looked glum as over half of their wing failed to make it back in time.
Perhaps at least half of them managed to eject in time, but the sandmen never let off the slow-moving escape pods. It only took one weak laser beam to pierce their flimsy shells and kill the starfighter pilot trying to flee.
Such an outcome became increasingly more prevalent as the sandman admirals started to ditch their heavy laser strikes for rapid-fire laser salvos.
"May our comrades who perished in battle rest in peace." Moses stated.
"Their light will forever burn in our hearts."
Scenes like this occurred everywhere. Moses had seen so many of his subordinates fall that he stopped memorizing their names. They died so frequently that Moses had grown numb to the losses.
"When will it be my turn?" He quietly whispered under his breath.
His starfighter was no different from the others. Skill made little difference due to the limitations of their spacecraft.
In the end, Moses Larkinson lasted for three more battles. After beating off some basic sandman fleets, another swarm configuration descended upon the star system.
The Greedy Luxers reluctantly answered the call.
Moses Larkinson died as one of many starfighter pilots that perished that day.
He died doing his duty under the glow of a Desolate Soldier.
He died with a smile.

Chapter 1, Battle in the Sky

Dick punched the throttle of his starfighter. He could hardly believe that he was a Jedi Knight flying a Jedi Starfighter in a battle in Coruscant's star speckled night sky. Well, technically he was in orbit around the planet, but he tried not to think about the vacuum of space outside his cockpit. He could see clone starfighters battling droid fighters up ahead. Explosions like huge fireworks shook his starfighter. Ion trails blazed after each fighter making them gleam in the dark sky. It was quite beautiful but also quite real. Don't die. Don't die. Dick repeated to himself. He glanced at his heads-up display readout. R3T3, his astromech droid, notified him that he was coming up on two other Jedi beacons. Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi were just up ahead.

He pulled alongside Obi Wan's starfighter and gave the Jedi Master a fierce grin. His communications earpiece crackled to life. Obi Wan's strained voice came over loud and clear.

"Nice to see another Jedi out here," Obi Wan said, "I was afraid it was just going to be me and Anakin."

"I've got your backs now Master Kenobi," said Dick.

"I don't believe I've had the pleasure, Master…?" Obi Wan tried to look at the raven-haired Jedi Knight flying beside him through his cockpit window.

"Grayson. Dick Grayson."

"Ah. Welcome to the Battle of Coruscant Master Grayson. I'm afraid the middle of a battle isn't the best place to make introductions though."

"Sure it is. It's in the heat of battle people show their true colors," Dick said with a smile. Obi Wan nodded, appreciative of the calm wisdom in the younger knight.

"Hey Grayson, you want in on our bet?" Anakin's voice came over the three-way communicator.

"What bet?" asked Dick a little confused.

Obi Wan tried to say something, but Anakin cut him off. "Lunch at Dex's says I blast two droids for each of yours."

"Anakin…" Obi Wan began.

"Alright, diner," Anakin amended. Dick could hear the smile in his voice.

"You're on Master Skywalker!" declared Dick.

"This is not a game, it's…" Obi Wan tried to say, but Dick and Anakin had already shot ahead of him towards the oncoming Vulture droids. Obi Wan sighed heavily. "Oh, what's the use?" He punched his own throttle and soared towards the thick of the battle. Near misses from the Separatist Cruiser's turbo-laser batteries rocked his small starfighter violently. Obi Wan tasted bile rise up in his throat as one bolt clipped his wing and he struggled to control the sudden spin his fighter was forced into.

When he had wrestled his starfighter under control again, Obi Wan saw Anakin and Dick blasting droids as if it was a game. They were counting their kills and joking over the comm. Boys. He sped up gently working the aft thrusters. He didn't want to risk tearing his ship apart. Catching up with them, Obi Wan pulled up along-side Anakin, who's starfighter was fly inverted and parallel to Dick's. The two young Jedi Knights were grinning fiercely. And Obi Wan recognized the fire in Anakin's eyes. He sighed again.

"That's Grievous's Flagship dead ahead. The one swarming with Vulture droids," said Anakin.

"I see it. Oh, this is going to be easy," said Obi Wan sarcastically.

"Ah no. But it might be fun," Dick corrected him. He was still learning the controls of his starfighter. His stomach had been in knots the whole time. His only piloting experience in his own reality had been flying the Batwing. Now, suddenly he was in the middle of a space battle in a cockpit he had never seen before. He could fly it somehow only because he had R3T3 and a little voice that told him what to do. He assumed it was the force giving him survival hints. Being a Jedi was still a little weird. The only reason he was still alive was Anakin.

All three of them shot forward again, this time towards the mammoth cruiser Invisible Hand. At least thirty Vulture droids peeled away from the cruiser's ventral hull and streaked towards the Jedi. Anakin flipped his craft right-side up again as pounded two droids with his cannons at long distance range. Dick moved over to cover for Obi Wan's failing wing.

"Oddball. Oddball do you copy?" asked Obi Wan over the com.

"I copy Red Leader," answered the clone who's call sign was Oddball.

"Form your squad up behind us, we're going in."

"We're on your six, General Kenobi." The clone's voice was as calm as if he was ordering dinner.

The ACR 170 clone pilots formed into attack positions behind the Jedi. Within seconds, they were breaking off into separate dogfights. Each pilot was thoroughly engaged in their own fight for survival. There was so much sweat rolling down faces, so much anxiety in the force, and so many cannon blasts streaking though space, that even Anakin might be forgiven for turning tail. But they didn't. The battle raged on over Coruscant.

This is Dick Grayson right now:

He is a new Jedi Knight. A new character in an old story. He is untrained in the Jedi arts and he hasn't ever flown a starfighter, much less flown one into a battle of this magnitude, before. But he has a part to play in this story now. Everything outside his cockpit can kill him and he knows it. He isn't used to feeling the rush of the force inside him, because he wasn't born a Jedi. He was born an acrobat in his own reality. But here, in this reality, it's different.

He knows he can die here. Fears that he probably will. He thinks of his brothers on the planet below. He doesn't have a choice. He has to make it through the battel and onto Invisible Hand, because he knows the story all too well. Anakin will kill Count Dooku and turn to the Dark Side. Dick has to be there to stop him and save his brothers and this whole reality from Darth Vader. It's why he jumped into a strange ship and rocketed off into a space battle; to change this reality itself.

Even as he jokes and competes with Anakin and feels the exhilarating rush of adrenalin and the new unbridled joy of the force, Dick feels the pressure of his mission. The danger. The fear that he will never see his brothers again and that he will fail them.

But what made him a hero on earth, is what makes him a hero right now. He is a hero because he stares his own death in the face and doesn't even blink. He chooses the lives of others above his own. And he makes the decision to be stronger than fear, and stronger than the killer he is afraid circumstances want him to become.

This is Dick Grayson, Jedi Knight.

"Missiles!" shouted Anakin over the coms.

"Blast!" muttered Obi Wan.

Oh great, thought Dick. He had no clue what to do about tracking missiles. He turned to R3T3 for help. The little droid advised that he follow Anakin's lead and try spinning. The missiles on their tails were coming in perfect tandem. A simple barrel role would make the missiles collide.

Obi Wan wasn't so lucky. In his case, a role would be worse than useless. It would probably get him killed. He managed to lead one missile into an oncoming droid fighter and trick the other one into exploding before it hit him. Suddenly, the shrapnel form the second missile grew legs and clung to his starfighter. "I'm hit." Obi Wan sounded more annoyed than afraid.

"Buzz droids," said Anakin. He sounded disgusted.

"They're shutting down all of my controls!"

"Move over so I can get a clear shot." He maneuvered himself behind Obi Wan and blasted two buzz droids with his starfighter's cannon along with most of Obi Wan's left wing.

"Hold on Anakin, you're going to get us both killed!" shouted Obi wan almost frantically. He didn't sound very much like the calm Jedi Master he had a reputation for being. "This is why I hate flying," he muttered. His cockpit was starting to fog up. He watched helplessly as a buzz droid destroyed poor R4. Oh dear.

The little droids were crawling all over Obi Wan's starfighter like an infection. Dick could see them through his cockpit canopy, and cringed. Anakin edged his starfighter closer to Obi Wan's before he physically slammed the droids into a smear of metal. Unfortunately, he also destroyed what was left of Obi Wan's left wing.

"What are you doing?" Obi Wan cried in disbelief.

Anakin's voice was tight with concentration. "Just giving you a little help…it's not as easy as it looks."

"Get out of here Anakin. There's nothing more you can do. Get to the Flagship. Get the chancellor."

"I'm not leaving without you Maser." Anakin hit the last buzz droid off Obi Wan's starfighter.

Obi Wan noticed that they were still careening towards Visible Hand at top speed. "Anakin!"

"What?"

"Have you noticed that the shields are still up?"

"I've got it," said Dick. He punched the throttle and shot ahead of the two other Jedi. He blasted the cruiser's exterior control panel with his cannon and the ray-shield on the docking bay vanished. The backup bay doors started to close to replace the ray-shield.

"I've got a bad feeling about this!" said Obi Wan as his starfighter limped towards the massive cruiser. But all three starfighters flew into the docking bay before the huge durasteel doors slammed shut. Obi Wan popped his cockpit canopy and leapt out. He drew his lightsaber mid-air and began taking out the battle droids that started running towards the intruders. Useless tinnies.

Anakin and Dick soon joined him in the brief battle. Their lightsabers held high to deflect the blaster bolts. Dick was amazed by how a real lightsaber worked. Although he had never been properly trained in how to use one, he managed to return several blaster bolts back on the droids. He used his two lightsabers much as he would longer versions of his eskrima sticks as Nightwing. This was actually a lot of fun.

"R2, get to that control panel. Find the chancellor. We'll cover you," Anakin shouted over the noise in the hangar. R2 rolled over to a socket in the wall and plugged himself in. R3 rolled behind him, beeping something that not even Anakin, who seemed to speak fluent droid, could understand.

In just a few minutes, the fight was over and the droids had lost. Badly. The Jedi returned their lightsabers to their belts before regarding each other appraisingly. "Good timing on the assist, Grayson," said Anakin to Dick. "I think you lost the bet though. Where'd you learn to fly anyways?"

Dick smiled sheepishly at Anakin. "Call me Dick. And I learned to fly from my crazy mentor."

"Who was that?" asked Obi Wan curiously.

"Batman," answered Dick without thinking. Anakin and Obi Wan looked at him quizzically. "Well, he was crazy like a bat. His name was Master…" Who? Dick didn't know how to get himself out of this mess. Fortunately, R2 beeped excitedly and the Jedi ran over to him. Dick was off the hook for now.

"There's the Chancellor's beacon," said Anakin pointing. "The General's spire. Do you think it's a trap?"

"It's always a trap," said Dick.

"Next move?" asked Anakin with a fierce grin.

"Spring the trap," Obi Wan smiled back.

Of the ten pilots of Steel Battalion that followed the C-9979 Landing Crafts, six were left. Rozal watched the flames on his V-Wing start to burn his reactor, and knew he was out of time. The whole starfighter shook as screws fought to hold the ship together. Rozal grinned, and silently thanked the starfighter for fighting by his side for so long.

"Come on, boys! Two more and I will be happy!"

He heard a clone curse on the communicator, and saw one of Steel Battalion's ships spin wildly as it lost a wing. The starfighter crashed down on Ryloth. Now they had five pilots.

Finding his target, Rozal lowered his starfighter, which caused the V-Wing to shake even more, and pushed the trigger, sending wave after wave of blue lasers at the belly of one of the troop carriers. He was joined by the other four pilots, and soon a hole opened on the landing craft, spewing deactivated droids.

"Ahhh! Damn it! The Vultures got me, sir! See you soon! Hahaha!!!"

Spark, a rookie on Steel Battalion laughed maniacally. He had been sent to the 303rd very recently, and his first battle would also be his last, but the clone had proved himself to be an amazing pilot by surviving till today. Unfortunately, his time was over, but the rookie didn't seem to be sad.

Rozal turned his head in time to see Spark halt his V-Wing so abruptly that the starfighter cracked in two. Still, Spark got his revenge when three Vulture droids crashed into him in quick sequence, and blew up.

Four pilots remained.

"Even the rookie did something, boys! Let's go, one more time!"

As another C-9979 blew up in the sky, one of the V-Wings that was following it closely was hit by the pieces of it that flew off.

Three pilots were left.

The cost of the seventh troop carrier they took out was two starfighters. The clones piloting them refused to give up their pursuit even when they felt the impact of the Vultures' lasers on their starfighters.

Rozal looked as the burning remains of his two last brothers crashed on the red soil of Ryloth. Now, only he was left. Memories flooded him. Memories of all the time he spent training with his brothers, of all the battles they fought, all the stories they shared. Now, all of those were over. They were all dead, and Steel Battalion was over.

"Come on, you metallic bastards. You want to kill me? Let's see if you are fast enough."

Now flying alone, he chased the C-9979s. With instincts even he didn't know he had, he dodged most of the lasers fired at him expertly, all the time holding down the trigger. An uninterrupted torrent of blue lasers left his starfighter, eventually mowing down the thick steel plates that made the troop transport. The entire left wing of the ship broke off, and Rozal dove just in time to avoid it. The giant metal piece hit half a dozen Vulture droids, creating a giant cloud of fire and smoke.

"That is eight!"

He flanked another C-9979 Landing Craft, fully aware that he didn't have enough time to bring it down. Suddenly, he felt an impact as a laser found it's mark on the back of his V-Wing.

The impact, combined with the loss of integrity thanks to his reckless entry in the atmosphere, caused his entire right wing to be ripped off.

Rozal lost control of the starfighter, and started spinning. His head hit the inside of the cockpit, making him dizzy. After a lot of effort, he was able to stabilize the V-Wing, but his hands were hurting from holding the controls too strongly. 

It was at this moment that he looked out of the window, and saw he was side by side with the troop carrier. Smiling, he muttered his last words.

"And now goes nine."

Rozal crashed himself in the C-9979. The ship lost control as a giant hole opened on its right side, and lost altitude. The droid pilot was unable to control the troop carrier, and crashed in one of the many pillars of rock that Ryloth had. The impact brought the pillar down, and several dozen Vulture droids that had been following Rozal weren't able to steer away in time.

Giving their lives, Steel Battalion destroyed nine C-9979 Landing Crafts. That's as equivalent to almost twenty thousand B1 units. To their last breath, Rozal and Steel Battalion had protected their brothers on the ground. Their efforts saved thousands of lives in the battles to come.

"They are gone, admiral. Steel Battalion and Captain Rozal perished."

Admiral Dao blinked, pain appearing in his eyes as he thought of the cheerful clone. Rozal had been the best pilot the 303rd had, and his death would surely be a blow to morale. On the other hand, they wouldn't live long enough for morale to matter, so Admiral Dao had to focus on the battle.

"He did his job perfectly. We need to make sure his sacrifice wasn't on vain. Remember, each troop carrier that goes through us means thousands of clanckers that General Di has to fight down there. We have to hold them here!"

"Yes, admiral!"

The Sincerity shook once more as the laser cannons of the enemy fired at them. Surprisingly, that was the last volley they fired before turning around and retreating.

"Admiral! They are leaving!"

"I can see it. Ha! All they wanted was for their troops to land on the planet. Order all ships to come back. Don't chase them. I repeat, don't chase them. We don't have the firepower to do that. They will be back for more soon, and we have to get our defenses in place again."

"Yes, admiral."

As he watched the enemy retreat, Admiral Dao looked at Ryloth. He didn't even bother warning Ryloth, for he was sure they saw all that happened.

"We did our best, general. We will continue fighting up here, and we will go out in a blaze of glory. Let's just hope this blaze is strong enough to burn those damn seppies."

Dageer watched as several C-9979 Landing Crafts finally broke through the Republic blockade. To tell the truth, they had held for much longer than Dageer thought it was possible.

And then, Dageer saw ten Republic starfighters following the C-9979s. Just ten, nothing compared to the number of Vulture droids after them. But those ten pilots were a force to be reckoned with.

Using their lives to stop the enemy, to the point of using their own ships to blow up some more Vulture droids, those ten pilots took down seven troop carriers. Even without being able to see the starfighters clearly, Dageer knew that only someone who had given up trying to survive could pull off such an impossible feat.

Watching the V-Wings blow up or crash one by one, Dageer stopped and saluted his brothers. Hell Squad was also standing still, looking at the battle. Even the Twi'leks couldn't stop but look at the suicidal efforts of those ten pilots.

And in the end, when Dageer saw one last pilot giving chase to several C-9979s, while at least a hundred Vulture droids followed him, Dageer knew that only one clone could engage in such mad pursuit.

"Rozal..."

Dageer's grip on his DC-15A was so strong that the blaster's handle cracked with a loud sound, scaring the nearby Twi'leks. They never saw Dageer get angry, and it was truly fearsome, especially with his scar.

As Rozal crashed his V-Wing on the ninth troop carrier, Dageer watched the destruction unfold. Rozal would be proud to know that even after he died, he still destroyed several dozen Vulture droids together with the C-9979.

"Goodbye, brother."

About the story:

Clone trooper CT-4063 is a fresh and shiny trooper directly from the clone facilities in Kamino. 
He is also one of the thousands of clones that take part on the first battle of the Clone Wars.
Go with him as he carves his path to the high comand.

Space of Yavin 4, the battle of Death Star... 

The ginormous space station quickly approached the Rebel Alliance base on Yavin 4. The show of power on the planet of Alderaan was enough to send the whole Rebel Alliance on a turmoil as they started and prepared to attack the Death Star, hoping to bring it down by any means necessary.

The rebel strike group will follow the plan of General Dodonna even if it's outrageous and audacious enough that people from the Rebel Alliance pilots had an angry reaction regarding the plan. 

Different squadrons with colors as its codenames was briefed of the plan. They'll use small one man starfighters such as X Wings and Y Wings starfighters to traverse a narrow trench course on the Death Star's surface and fire proton torpedoes on the exhaust port which is directly connected to main reactor. This way, the explosion will cause a chain reaction which will destroy the Death Star in the process. 

As they're being briefed a pilot raised his hand to tell how illogical and unscientific the plan of firing a proton torpedo on the literal exhaust port. 

"With all due respect general, this is the thermal exhaust port, doesn't those ports release the heat from the main energy source, meaning, it has a strong upward force enough to deter the proton torpedoes. Your plan is a little bit illogical." this opinion made the ither pilots nod in agreement as they waited for the general to asnwer and clesr this possible misunderstanding.

"You're totally wrong and doesn't know about science and physics. Just shut up, you don't know anything. Anyway, that's the plan, I wish you all the best of luck."

The words of the general gave them uncertainty as they don't know what they're going to do. From one perspective the words of their fellow pilot really makes sense but on the other it doesn't, they don't know what to believe as they started to climb up the cockpits of their starfighters.

Battleships numbering in the hundreds of Imperium origin was chilling on the string dimension as they carefully observed the Yavin 4 star system.

Their battle plan is the simplest, send in the Imperial Knights with Space Marine as support then take control of the Death Star all the while activating the sleeper agents on the command room.

A random female aristocrat was seen sitting on the cockpit of her Imperial Knight. She's part of one of the nobles and aristocratic families on the Imperium. 

Since the return of the Emperor to the Imperium, the number of Imperial Knights increased in number per noboe house. Also those knights that the ways they're created was lost in time has resurfaced and rediscovered as the mass production has started.

The technologies such as weapons and things like that on the Imperial Knights are greatly improved. Years of technological accumulation brought them great benefits. 

Overall, the number of the Imperial Knights has more than doubled amd the number of the Imperial Knights will always be numerous no matter how big the needed number are. 

Suddenly a sound signifying a transmission request was heard on her cockpit. She accepted it as she tied her hair on a bun. 

"Good evening Mr. Lover Boy, what do you want?" asked the female noble with a smirk as she looked at her boyfriend who's also a knight pilot on the holographic screen.

"This will be your very first major operation right my dear? Just stick to me, I'll protect you." said the man on the other line as he smiled sweetly. He has this extroverted aura with him. Something about him makes him such a friend and chick magnet.

"You're trying to flirt with me while on a mission it seems. Isn't that against the rules?" the female noble laughed based on the aristocratic way of laughing as she hid her mouth behind her palm. 

"Really?" joked the man as he winked at the woman, making her blush like a tomato.

The two love birds then laughed as they talked a little bit more about different things. Just then, a radio transmission sounded on their cockpits as the squadron captain gave his last briefing before the mission time. 

"I'll repeat the mission plan, we'll be dropped directly at the surface of the Death Star after a landing site was secured by the space marines. From there, we'll infiltrate and secure the whole place as the guardsmen landed." briefed the squadron captain as his voice was heard on their comms. 

"Any questions?"

"No!"

"Very well, let's set out! Glory to the Emperor!"

The Death Star seemed slowly moving but in fact it's moving in thousands of kilometers per second on space as Imperial TIE fighters exited its hangars to meet the enemy starfighter squadron.

A group of starfighters, a mix of Y and X wing starfughters soared through the space as they dived down to the deep trench on the surface of the Death Star. 

Imperial TIE fighters followed at their tail as a deadly and chaotic dogfight happened. The Y and X wings had the natural advantage of field of view. Making it a far better choice for chaotic space dogfights like this as some of the TIE fighters crashed on each other during maneuvers due to the limited field of view. 

But the Rebel Alliance starfighter squadrons wasn't but unscathed on the conflict as most of the starfighters was shot down due to the innumerable TIE fighters at their tail. Luke Skywalker only managed to survive due to the Force.

Darth Vader was the leader of the squadron who engaged the Rebel Alliance on a dogfight as they gave chase to the now battered starfighter of Luke Skywalker as it dived down on the trenches, approaching the exhaust port. 

"You're mine!" said Darth Vader with anger as he opened fire at Luke Skywalker. But as he opened fire Han Solo together with the Millennium Falcon suddenly appeared as it fired its own weapons against Darth Vader.

Darth Vader tried to evade the incoming barrage of laser fireds by pulling up but one of its wings got grazed and destroyed half of the left wing, making the starfighter of Darth Vader soar back to the Death Star with a flaming wing. 

"I'm here kiddo, do you think I'll let you die? Think again." the voice of Han Solo was heard on the communication equipment aboard Luke's starfighter as he already saw the exhaust port of the Death Star. 

"Do it now, Luke!" the voice of Obi-Wan was heard by Luke as he opened the protection on the red button under the label of "Proton Torpedoes"

Just as he was about to press the button, a shine on the darkness of space was seen as countless meteor like objects hit the Death Star on all directions with speed impossible to be seen without the help of technology.




"My lord, the enemy has exhibited stiff resistance against the great army of the Emperor! I suggest we afix the bayonets and charge!" said a random guardsman with a gas mask, wearing a German-esque WW1 uniform to their commissar. 

"What? They use this so-called "force"? Bullshit! They've clearly fallen to the will of the Chaos gods! Prepare the Exterminatus, we will bathe them with the God-Emperor's holy fire!" growled a random inquisitor aboard an Emperor-class battleship of the Imperium. 

"Great soldiers of our holy and benevolent God-Emperor! In front of you stands a bastion of heresy! A testament to their wrongdoings! Bring them back to the light of our great God-Emperor! Purge the heretics!" shouted a comissar before ordering the charge of millions of imperial guardsmen to the line of countless clones. 

"The Emperor protects!" shouted the guardsmen as they furiously charge to the lines of their enemies.

"Ah shit, what's happening? Why am I sitting on this throne? Wait what in the world are those 8ft tall giants made of steel? Hoy hoy, what are they going to do with these people in front of me? Fuck am I the God-Emperor?"

"So will come or not?" Alex spoke clearer. His connection with force walking had grown stronger but still needed work.

"You will bring me to my brother and help me with the force?" Jenza said unsure of herself. "What do you get out of this?"

"It will help your brother from getting killed. Teaching you the force is secondary. As for the last part.." Alex hesitated for just a bit. "What I get is a little more strength by uniting you two and convincing him. It is also my job as a Force Guardian."

"A Force Guardian? Is that like Jedi people?" Jenza asked intrigued.

"Haha no. It is just a easy of life but a job. I am meant to help force people to live. To help the galaxy. You are force sensitive so I am attempting to help you as well."

"Hmm, so you get power as well as it being some higher job thing." Jenza pondered for large moments. "Very well then. I agree but if you are lying.. I will do everything I can to ruin you."

"That is fair." Alex stated. "Heard you were a nice girl. Where the hell is that right now?" Jenza smiled at him. It was a pained one at best.

"My brother has been through a lot. I was tempted to out him in the senate and his involvement. The death of his pupils has really hurt him deeply. He didnt always use to be like this. I rather see him arrested than turning into a monster.

(Jenza has agreed. To complete quest, bring her to Count Dooku. Increase light side if he is alive. Increase in dark side if he is dead. Failure to unite the two will result in Dooku returning to Sidious)

(Temporary force bond established. Undetectable by either side.)

"Ahh I can feel your presence more." Jenza exclaimed. "Your young but old. How strange." The two conversed a little, until Alex felt himself weaken. 

Noticing his voice weakening, Jenza made an excuse to end everything. Not before Alex told her a basic meditation technque. One that would just seem like she is in deep thought. Instead of the full immersion one that was noticeable to people.

"Have a good night. See you soon." Alex ended the link and sat up in the bed. Floating his lightsaber over he dismantled it and put back together for about an hour. "Have to get to the point that I can notice damage in it."

"Another 30 minutes then you need to rest. Your body level seems.. off." Inferna said. 

"Right." Alex agreed. The last 30 minutes were attuning the Crystal's to him. Finishing he went to sleep.

"Working to much." Inferna stated. She moved around the room busying herself. "Republic officials need to learn a lesson. Should we do so I wonder?" A force light hummed around Alex. "Very well later then. Dooku is nearby in this sector. Reports I have gotten ahold of has someone going after him. I believe it to be a young impressionable Jedi."

"Hum!" The kight buzzed around Alex again.

"We need his sister first." Inferna stopped and stared at Alex. "I will send a team to grab her."

"Hum, hum!" The light pulsated white before black.

"Ok no grabbing." Inferna put her hands on her hips. The droidca did a good impression of a pouting human. "Then we must leave in the morning for her. Afterward, find Dooku. If you keep waiting we will miss an ally again. That shapeshifter would have been great."

"Hum." The light pulse again before fading away.

"Fine we can lose some here and there. But you want Dooku, so I am getting you Dooku." Inferna walked to a desk and went to work. "Have a good night Alexander. No force dreams this time." a nodule popped out on her shoulder. A slight buzzing emitted. 

"Ring, ring." THe force was blocked out. Alex fell into a very deep slumber.

-Next Day-

"Ahh what a good sleep." Alex sat up up and noticed Inferna was not in the room. "Wonder where she went?" Walking to the bathroom he found her. "Huh.. that makes sense."

"Heard of knocking?" Inferna said in mock anger. She had her arm opened and was cleaning gunk out of it. "I should not have went to go help in the swamps. Should have stood by you and helped swipe some gear."

"Yeah... maybe." Alex walked over to the side cleaned himself up. Once he finished he started to help her clean out her parts. "How did you get a dead... whatever this is in your exhaust port?" In his hand was a dead eel. That was the best he described it.

"Like I know! I was to busy trying to stop that convey from getting away scot-free. I think it crashed furthur in the swamp. The Gungan should be able to take care of it. The Republic wanted your help with retrieving them. Told them flatly no. Medical reasons." Inferna said. Alex gave her a nod of approval. "Glad I made the right call. Your Teacher went there with a few volunteers. Well the refugees you have went with. None of the Rakghouls followed. They knew you did not want to get involved any furthur."

"That is true." Alex reattached the apart and looked her over. Spotting a damaged circuit board, he removed it and threw it in his inventory. Pulling out another he applied it to her. "I enjoy the Rakghoul self-preservation ability. The others can help her if they want, that is there choice. However, they will have to live with the consequences."

"Understood." Inferna recorded the information into her databanks and revised what was acceptable and what was not. "You ready to take a trip?"

"Yes." Alex thought for a bit and let his force energy direct him. "Yeah defintely. Thanks for the talk last night. Set coordinates to meet up with her."

"Your starfighter is ready. Credits have been given to the Rakghoul humans to buy what they need." Inferna ran a diagnostics on herself. "All good to go."

"Let me get dressed then. I am going full armor out. No since in risking things." Alex left to the living room area. Fitting everything and putting his robes on it felt right. "Did you make adjustments to my rmor again?"

"Yes. A decrease in density by 11%. Will provide more flexibility and increase your force senstivity." Inferna reached over and reattached her weapons.

"Good work. Hopefully the next rewards we receive is better for you. Disable the security here. we will not be returning to this room." Alex said fixing his holdout blaster last. Inferna moved around picking up several electronic devices. They all attached to her left leg. "Finished?" She gave him a nod. "Time to head to the spaceport.

"Chish!" Alex walked out of the door and was surprised to see two Republic troopers.

"Hi, bye." Alex walked passed them.

"Wait your presences was requested." Trooper A called.

"That is nice." Alex kept walking. The troopers ran up behind them. They followed all the way to the spaceport trying to get him to stop. Getting into his starfighter, they started launch procedures.

"Wait!" Padme' came running towards them. A group of troopers with her and Obi-Wan. "Have you seen Anakin?"

"Yeah no. He is most likely somewhere nearby fighting some separatist or droids. Basically getting into trouble." Alex responded. He checked his map and didnt have an exact location on the young Jedi. "I will keep a lookout for him."

"I guess I will go and deal with the Gungan's myself." Obi-Wan said. He turned to Padme and frowned. "I think Anakin will be fine. Trust in him.

"Why no take her with you. It is not like she will get in any trouble down there. THen again she is a trouble magnet." Alex said. He looked over the side and stared at them. "Make the troopers go with you. See if they can screw up diplomatic relations." The republic troopers flinched at thought of going in the water. 'Hmm guess that would be bad for them.'

"You right. Obi-wan I will come with you. Since Alex is not going to help you it would be for the best." It was a slight dig. She was upset about the amount of paperwork they had deal with. THen again she was happy the Republic didnt get there hands on the bioweapon. "Do come back with Anakin, since your going out to space."

"Umm sure. No promises I will come back safely though." Alex toggled the last switch as the platform rotated. "Blast off woohoo!" The Starfighter shot off.

"Are you going to do that every time?" Inferna asked from the side seat.

"Yes. as long as I am happy to leave whatever planet I am on." Alex smiled at her. "Besides when i dont assume we are going to a bad place. Well, a worst place. A not so fun place."

"Hmm good to know." 

-Out in Space-

"We are coming up on the rendezvous point." Inferna broke the silence. "Jenza yacht has been damaged a little. But only by a small energy explosion. "Are you sure this is gonna work?"

"We can only try. I think it will work. I have enough knowledge to open diplomatic relations between the two. Considering that the info has finally correct in my head, everything should work out."

"Right. Dooku saved his brother and this the version of him that was placed outside his family estate. Jedi took him in trained him. He was trained by Thame Cerulian (Jedi Master) Yoda (Grand Master)
Darth Sidious (Sith Master). Inferna said. "But he has had for apprentices Qui-Gon Jinn (Jedi Padawan) Keelyvine Reus (Lightsaber apprentice) Komari Vosa (Jedi Padawan).

"Sifo-Dyas, was a good friend of his from what I understood. However, have no idea what really happened to him. Information is very conflicting." Alex said as they docked the starfighter. "Talk for later."

"Alex!" Jenza said excitied. She ran over with her guards right behind. "We have to go come on!" She was dressed in armor instead of a flight suit. A holdout blaster on her side.

"Umm what?" Alex sat back down in the fighter. He watched as Jenza climbed on board. "Explain."

"My ship wont be ready for a while. My brother is not to far from here. Our sensors caught a Republic cruiser not to far out. As well a starfighter on his trail." Jenza said in a quick breath.

"Bweem!" Inferna had the starfighter turn in leave before Jenza troops could pull her down. THe shouted and hollered but the droidca ignored them.

"Thanks for not killing them." Alex smirked. He received a thumbs up from her. "So.. talk a little bit more in detail. That is a little bit of info."

"Cant out of breath you talk! Tell me about my brother. The stuff he wouldn't tell me." Jenza said. She was not going to say anything else till Alex did.

"Alright fine." Alex told her of what her knew best that was confirmed. About what her father did to him, and how he was treated in the Jedi temple. Jenza knew about what her father did, but hearing it from someone else made it feel more painful. But hearing that her brother was trying to save a lot of systems made her happy. However, the implications that he was getting manipulated did not bode well.

"We have got to stop him." Jenza said. Before they could continue a communication broke the conversation up.

"This is Jedi Knight Anakin. Can anyone Republic forces here me? I am in pursuit of the Separatist Leader. I need assistance."

"Oh boy. Hope the Republic fleet nearby does not get that." Alex said. As if to mock him, a signal went out. Republic encryption informing they heard loud and clear. "Well, that is just the pits."

"Couldnt you have jammed it?" Jenza asked towards the droidca.

"Sure let me just get some satellites and do so. Oh wait, there are no nearby. I know let me just stick my arms out the starfighter and just grab the transmission out of space." Inferna quipped back. "DumDum."

"Sorry." Jenza realized the droidca would have done something if she could.

'Well shit.' Alex thoughts were already going to a bad place. 'Why no time limit?'

A group of friends traveling to a convention to reestablish friendships and catch up.

Caught in an unusual storm that leads to all of their deaths. They have been sent to the Universe of Star Wars.

Problem one, they were separate and awakened at different point in time.

Problem two, there friendship has not been strong enough to deal with the strain of a new world and its horrors.

Problem three, they were never good at working together in rp settings. With a different system to help them along there way, will friendships mend before it's to late.

Can the estranged friends put differences aside before it's to late. There is more in the worlds to deal with besides the Separatist and their various factions. The Banking clan and the Hutts are muscling about more than usual.

Lore can only help you so far.

Alexander the organizer and leader of the group is the last to awaken. Good news he awakens in a Jedi temple. Bad news his body has been suffering from a strange medical issue. Can his ancient Teacher bring him up to speed before the Council figure who she is?

Will Alex be able to defend himself and his friends who refuse to listen to reason. Let's find out in the unlikely story.

Resurrected as a Sith Lord: A Star Wars Story

Pwerno remained a loner only spending his time with Boval and Freg. Mostly, Boval and Freg spent their free time together. They both enjoyed talking about engineering, mechanics, and starships. Today was a particularly exciting day. Boval revealed a strange device he designed. Freg drooled far more than usual as Boval walked him through its uses. 

"The one problem we mechanics have is having the right equipment for starships or whatever we're trying to work on. This problem exists less often when we are on a larger ship such as this or if we are at a well-supplied base.

If, however, we find ourselves on a mission or at a poorly supplied base we find ourselves improvising. Improvisation is fine in a pinch, but if you're trying to keep yourself and your friends alive, improvisation can be deadly!" he said. 

Freg grunted, growled, drooled, and nodded his head as he listened to Boval. 

"To solve the problem while recognizing the limited resources we can travel with; I've come up with a device," he said. 

Boval pulled out a series of rectangular boxes of different sizes. Grabbing the smallest box which was about the size of a harmonica, then reached into a pouch on his left shoulder. From there, he pulled a compact rectangular object and plugged it into the first object. A "shih-shih" sound was made and Boval laid the smaller compact object on a box he was using to display his devices. 

Freg climbed up the box and grabbed the discarded object, shook it, and then put it back down. It seemed to be empty of whatever was in it previously. 

"Let's say you've got a broken PV Skiver and all you need is a 381.6 CV circuit, but you don't have a 381.6 CV circuit what do you do?" he asked. 

Freg scratched his head for a few minutes and then barked, growled and evil laughed at Boval.

"You're right, you could use a 32 Rammar KR circuit and file off the filitino plating and use it as a makeshift 381.6 CV circuit if you had one. Unfortunately, the KR circuit is being used to control your liquid Narl fluid to control a bivo pump you've spliced into your double peek Twino because of an overheating thie activator," he said.

Freg looked puzzled for a few moments and finally shrugged his shoulders. 

"I'll tell you what you do, you use this new Improvizier device I've invented. There are two ways to create the circuit you need. The first is to load the Improvizier with quantum molecules (Qmolecules). program in the pieces you need and assemble. Watch," he said. 

Boval swiped his finger over the top of the device which brought up an electronic screen. Typing in the object he wished to create, a flap at on end opened and shut as a delicate piece of the circuit was produced. More pieces of the circuit were produced until Boval received a total of 37 pieces. Some of the pieces were microscopic while others were only barely big enough to be seen unaided by eyesight alone. Boval quickly assembled the pieces using tools from a small kit he pulled from his tool belt. 

Finished with his work, Boval lifted a circuit about the size of his thumbnail and showed it off to Freg. 

"There you have it, a newly produced 381.6 CV circuit," Boval said. 

Freg's eyes widened as he took the circuit and examined it carefully. Taking the circuit in his right hand, Freg reached to his tool belt and pulled out a scanner of some kind and tested the circuit. After getting the results from the scan, Freg became very excited. Slobber, growls, snarls and evil laughter filled the air.

"Yes, I know it's awesome, saves space, but the best thing is this is only part of its use," Boval laughed. 

"Let's say you don't have any of these Qmolecule dispensers," he said as he pointed at the empty canister he used earlier. 

"Now you're stuck! Only, you aren't stuck because the Improvizier can be used to create Qmolecules!" Boval said with excitement. 

Freg didn't believe him. He shook his head and made a round shape with his mouth while making a monkey noise. 

"I'm not lying, watch!" Boval grabbed a piece of scrap metal from another pouch and showed it to Freg.

"As you can tell this is just a piece of steel, but watch what happens when I put it into the slot on the side," Boval immediately put the piece of steel into the Improvizier and pushed a button on the screen that said, "reclaim." After a quiet moment, a green light shone on the screen. Boval opened the slot and showed Freg it was empty. 

"Now, watch this," Boval said. 

Freg watched as Boval pressed a couple of commands and touched a green button that said "create from last." after a few moments, thirty-seven pieces came out of the slot. Boval assembled the pieces and held up a brand new 381.6 CV circuit. 

Freg made a disbelieving face and started shouting.

"It's not magic, I promise!" Boval said with a laugh. 

"Here, try it for yourself," Boval handed the small device over to Freg and have him a couple of Qmolecule dispensers. 

Freg earnestly tested the device for over an hour. He finally put it down and cupped his chin with his index finger and his thumb while starring at the device. Finally, he barked out his comments while letting out a particularly sinister laugh. 

"I don't mind selling it but that's for later. Right now, I need to test it and see if it can do what I hope it can. I want you to help me test it by building our very own starfighter," he said. 

Freg's eyes got big once more and made a few comments.

"I'm not planning on creating an entire starfighter using just this little Improvizier, that would take forever. That's why I built these larger Improviziers," he indicated the other rectangular boxes of various sizes.

Freg made a few more comments while looking at the devices. 

"Of course these are too small, I want to build much larger versions of the Improvisier to create the frame and other large pieces. The problem is I don't have the materials to make the larger units or a place to build the starfighter. I know you have some family working on the ship and thought you could get us a place to work and materials," Boval said. 

Freg laughed evilly.

His life began as a superhero on Earth. He's died and lived different lives but always utilized strange and mystical technology to continue as a hero. Whether it was a dragon warrior or martial artist on a primitive planet, Lorne was the Invincible Hero.
