The county government’s office stood in the north, but faced the south. It occupied a large plot of land, and had a huge gate at the entrance. The Great Court, Second Court, Third Court and the Soldiers’ Hall each had their own courtyards and offices. The atmosphere within the government’s office was stern and serious. 
 
At this point the County Magistrate had risen from his sleep. His wife was preparing breakfast for him, when a bailiff attempted to barge in, panting and anxious. He was stopped by a constable outside, "What is going on, you look extremely disgraceful. What a scandal!”


The bailiff pulled the constable aside, and whispered into his ears. The constable was appalled when he heard this, "What? This is a big matter. Are you for real?”

The bailiff immediately responded, "Your excellency, I am absolutely certain, as I saw this with my own eyes.” 


The constable’s expression changed, as he turned around and entered the Magistrate’s living quarters.
 
“Your excellency, something bad has happened!” This constable entered hastily, intruding on the Magistrate’s breakfast. He had just started eating and was interrupted. The Magistrate seemed extremely displeased.


The constable lowered his head and reported, "Your excellency, there are a hundred people in front of the county gates, all wearing white headscarves and dressed in mourner’s garb. There are more than ten coffins that had already reached the entrance. They were saying…. They were saying….”


“What?” When the Magistrate had heard this, he too was stunned. This was a grave matter. Could it be that someone was trying to interrupt the peace of the nation? The Magistrate was flustered and said, "Quickly tell me. What were they saying?”


“They said they had dead soldiers with them, and the soldiers too were wearing white headscarves and mourner’s robes. That means that an official has been murdered.”


“What? Prepare my ox-cart for me at once. Take me to the county entrance.” The County Magistrate was shocked. Could it be an uprising by the soldiers? He immediately commanded his men to prepare for their short trip to the county entrance.
 
At this point there was a huge crowd gathered before the county entrance. However the soldiers who were guarding the entrance of the county were military men, and had to do their duty. One of them stepped toward and rebuked the crowd, "Where are you people from? Why have you come dressed in mourning attire and brought your coffins here to the county. Are you here to start a rebellion?”
 
Pei Zi Yun stepped forward to and shouted, "I am a newly conferred High Scholar. Just last night my village came under the attack of bandits, and more than 20 people have died. Today I've come to lodge a report. You dare to stand in my way?”


“Master Top Scorer?” The soldier started trembling. His face gave off a look of extreme fear, and Pei Zi Yun stood in front of him. Almost as if he was daring the soldier to challenge him. Pei Zi Yun’s face remained expressionless, as he stood there in his High Scholar robes.
 
Cao San then stepped forward and lashed out at him in anger, "Li Si, are you blind to not be able to recognize Master Top Scorer? Our Chief Patrol Officer is dead. Let me tell you, something big happened last night. Move aside, if not, I will ensure you receive the appropriate punishment.”


Pei Zi Yun led his mourning villagers through the gates. The guards fell back as none of them dared to obstruct the group.
 
The procession walked through the city gates and entered the county city. As they walked, they played a sorrowful tune. The streets of the county were lively with the regular hustle and bustle of the crowd. The minute the group of people dressed in mourner’s clothings entered the city, everyone stopped what they were do and watched on. There was no other sound apart from the crying and sobbing of grieving women, and the mourning music being played. Many people came to observe this queer sight, and even children pushed past the crowd to get a closer look, receiving scorn from their parents.
 
The County Magistrate’s ox-cart had just been prepared. They had travelled a short distance when the ox-cart came to an abrupt halt. A bailiff then shouted, "Constable Wang, where are you heading to? Do not bother traveling in that direction. The roads are all blocked up. Master Top Scorer is leading a group of people, carrying coffins and saying they wish to lodge a report. Hurry and warn the Magistrate. This matter is becoming more serious. 
 
The constable's face became pale. Just as he was about to reply the bailiff, the County Magistrate parted the curtains of the ox-cart and stuck his head out. He then asked, "Tell me, exactly what's going on?”
 
The County Magistrate listened attentively to the bailiff as he described what he knew. Just immediately after, the Magistrate’s face fell. He then ordered the constable, "Hurry turn back. We need to prepare!”


Before long, they had reached the county’s government office. Pei Zi Yun noticed that the office was situated in the north, yet was facing the south. There was a big golden signboard perched atop the entrance, and a grievance drum was placed in the middle of the yard. This drum was placed there for citizens to use whenever they seek justice, or when a grievance had be done unto them. 


There were several seconds of constant drum beatings. A bailiff who had just reported for work, and was unaware of the situation stuck out his head and answered, "Who’s hitting the drums. What matter do you wish to report?”


This bailiff swept a glance across the people who had just arrived. He noticed that there were many coffins, more than he had ever seen in his life. There were also a big group of people lined up outside. He took in a deep breath. 
 
“Enter the Court!” two rows of bailiffs stood within the court, one on each side. They were holding onto rods that were a meter long, and tapping it on the ground, rhythmically in unison. The Magistrate was sat atop the highest seat. A signboard was pinned to the wall just above him. The signboard indicated that judgement served by the Magistrate shall be impartial and fair. 
 
Pei Zi Yun led the Village Chief and Cao San into the great court. The minute the Village Chief entered the court, he knelt down and started crying in apparent distress, "Your excellency, redress the grievances I had to endure. Last night a group of bandits led by Elementary Scholar Zhang Jie Yu infiltrated our village and killed 23 villagers. Thankfully Chief Patrol Officer, his excellency, was present at our village during the time of the attack. He led the group of soldiers to defend the village. The bandits were savage and attacked viciously. The Chief Patrol Officer died while fending these bandits off. Thanks to these soldiers and the brave men of my village, the bandits too, suffered great losses. The brave men rallied under the command of Cao San and managed to capture some of these bandits, and we present them here today.”
 
Cao San who had been standing beside the Village Chief fell to his knees and shouted, "Magistrate sir, I am the Chief Patrol Officer’s soldier and followed the Chief to different villages on patrolling duty. It was at Snail Village that we came under the attack of these bandits.”


“This Zhang Jie Yu was half a sorcerer. Not only was his martial arts techniques strong, he also knew magical spells. The Chief Patrol Officer had been under the effects of his spells, and thus fell to the bandits. Among the people who had attacked our village, there were some from Luo gang of the Hu River and some monks from Silver Dragon Temple. I have caught a few of these bandits alive for their confession.”


As he said this, he waved his hands and four bowmen pushed four black robed bandits forward. These bandits had been injured and when they were brought forward, they were forced to their knees. They removed the cloth covering the bandits’ faces, one of them was a monk with fresh scars on his head. The other three bandits were clearly fierce looking gangsters.


The County Magistrate went weak in the knees after seeing a sight like this before him. He knew that Silver Dragon Temple and the River gang exerted considerably influence across the county. They owned many businesses and were related to many high ranking officials in court. If this case were to be brought up, he would be blown up. 


The sound of the grievance drum being hit broke his thoughts. A bailiff brought a messy haired youth into the court. He led a group of Elementary Scholars into the court. This youth started crying and wailing, "Your excellency, County Magistrate, save me. Save me!”


When the Magistrate saw this messy hair youth being brought in, he took his gavel and hit it hard on the table before him, "Quiet!”


The youth then raised his head to look at the Magistrate. It was Tang Zhen, and he was wailing louder than ever, "Your excellency, I’ve been maligned. I am Tang Zhen, whose title of Elementary Scholar has been taken away, and yet I’m not what everyone think me to be. I have some inside information that involves these Elementary Scholars as well. We have all been set up and dragged into Zhang Jie Yu’s poisonous and devious schemes. We were threatened with our lives, that if we do not do as he instructed, we will all be killed.”
 
The few Elementary Scholars behind Tang Zhen all ran up, knelt down, and started crying as well. 
 
Just when these Elementary Scholars were crying, another few old women and young ladies started hitting the grievances drum. These women were brought in and were wailing loudly as well, "Your excellency, redress our grievances.”
 
The County Magistrate then asked, "Why are you women not at home. Instead you’ve come all the way to the county. What do you wish to report about?”
 
“Master County Magistrate, I am the mother of Zhang Quan. A year ago, Zhang Quan had fallen into the river and drowned. Before his death, he had left a letter, saying that he had been threatened by someone. If something should happen to me, it means that I’ve been murdered. However the letter said not to report the incident immediately, but wait for something else of this nature to happen before lodging a report, and avenge his soul.”
 
Seeing the evidence of the letter placed before him, the County Magistrate was so shocked he started perspiring profusely. A case of such magnitude was extremely shocking to witness.
 
When this had happened, the door opened and 23 coffins entered the courts. Even the county’s Deputy and Registrar Official had arrived. They had been listening from outside the courts. When the matter got more and more severe, his face turned pale.
 
The County Magistrate sat on the platform, above everyone else. However, at this very moment it seemed like as though he was sitting atop a chair of needles, in extreme discomfort. Things were getting very serious.


The county’s Registrar Official took a deep breath and entered the court and heard the Magistrate mumbling under his breath, "This is absurd. How could this man dare. How could he dare to do something of this scale. This is threatening an official. Does he not want to take another Imperial Examination again?”


It was very obvious what was happening. Pei Zi Yun had planned for all of these to happen. He had arranged for the villagers, Cao San, who was half an official, the Elementary Scholars and even a grieving mother to show up. His intention was to make his case against Zhang Jie Yu foolproof. But in doing so, he was offending the officials here. Was he not afraid that he would never reach Grand Scholar status?
 
“Magistrate, he is a High Scholar. The next examination for him would be held in the palace. Although these attacks seem to be a big matter in the county, when it actually reaches the capital it wouldn’t be that big of an affair.” The county’s Registrar Official said matter of factly, "Besides, I’ve heard everything there was to hear about this matter, and I’m afraid we cannot hide it and make it go away.”

“Not even speaking of the fact that the bandits had killed more than 20 villagers, they killed an official. His body is in a coffin outside. That itself is enough. What’s worse is that this official had managed to rub shoulders with officials of higher ranks and got himself a promotion. The Imperial Order had just arrived that he was to be promoted to a County Lieutenant. That would make him an Honorable Official.”
 
“Ever since the establishment of the dynasty, it impossible to cover up all these bandits attacks, especially if lives had been lost.”
 
The County Magistrate was trembling in his seat. He then whispered to the county’s Registrar Official, "Something so grave had just happened under our watch. It seems like our ability to govern a county is dashed. It’s not even that we will never get promoted again, but we might even completely lose our appointments” 
 
“Master County Magistrate, this matter is too big to be covered up. It’s not even a question of whether we will be able to retain our appointments as Magistrate and Registrar. It’s whether our ranks will be stripped off or not.” In the blink of an eye however, the Registrar had an idea come to him. He spoke in whispered voices to the Magistrate, "Magistrate, I have a plan. You can say that the county had obeyed orders and intended to conduct a thorough cleansing of bandits from the county. However, the bandits unexpectedly showed up and retaliated. They wanted to exact revenge for wiping out the Black Wind Stronghold.”
 
“In this matter, your excellency wanted to defeat the bandits, and remove their threat from our nation. Who can say which happened first? Our County Lieutenant had died in his line of duty, and it was the intentions of the bandits to kill him of as a display of their revenge.”


The Magistrate heard these words spoken by the county’s Registrar Official and paused for some time before smiling. Handling a case of this gravity required taking a hard approach, as taking a soft approach would invite rumors and suspicions. The Magistrate should dig deep into this case, apprehend the suspect, and put the weight of all the blame upon him.


As long as he managed to apprehend a person, and hold him responsible for this, he would succeed. With a case of this magnitude, instead of going to jail and being stripped of his rank, he might even get a promotion. 
 
The county’s Registrar Official stepped over to the side. The Magistrate’s face seemed like he was deep in thought. He reconsidered everything that had been said, before hitting his gavel. He waited for complete silence before saying, "Quiet. Report the details of this case to me. I shall launch a thorough investigation.”

As the Magistrate asked his questions, the old recorder was at the side, recording every word being spoken. Every witness that came forth had to put their thumbprints onto their testimony as a signature. Tang Zhen stepped forward and looked at the written version of his testimony. With a stoic expression, he pressed his ink stained thumb down onto the piece of paper.
 
The soldiers and old woman did the same, pressed their thumbs into an inkpad, before reading their written testimony, and imprinting their thumbs onto their testimonies. The County Magistrate looked at their endorsed testimonies and said, "I’ve already understood the case. Everyone, please return home now. I’ve heard of these bandits and what they can do long ago, and thus I’ve sent the Chief Patrol Officer to investigate quietly. Who would’ve expected these bandits to attack the village in the middle of the night, and kill off the Chief Patrol Officer and other villagers. I will administer justice to the villagers of Slow River County, rest assured.”
 
The County Magistrate stood up and said with gusto. When everyone else has left, he turned to Pei Zi Yun and said, "High Scholar Pei has been affected by this matter. I would never imagine that this sorcerer would be so vile and cruel, to kill the Chief Patrol Officer. I will investigate this monster, and bring him to the courts and administer justice upon him.”


To disobey the regulations and restrictions imposed by the imperial courts on Daoists would deserve a severe punishment, "What a monster.”
 
Pei Zi Yun could not help but feel suspicious. Since the Magistrate spoke this way, could it be that he had some inside information and really dispatched the Chief Patrol Officer to our village? However, he was very polite to Pei Zi Yun, who clasped his hands and saluted the Magistrate before thanking him profusely.
 
The Magistrate then turned around and entered his inner chambers. He then called on the county’s Deputy and Registrar Official to enter the chambers as well, "Deputy Li, although we often have differing opinions, this matter concerns out black hats. If we do not handle this well, we could lose it. What do you say we do?”
(TN: Black hats refer to the headwear worn by higher ranking officials, a symbol representing a person’s official career.)
 
The county’s Deputy eyed the Registrar Official, as he sat down and thought for sometime. He then raised his head, his eyes filled with purpose and said, "We have to get this done properly. As for after the matter is settled, we will fill in the details accordingly. It won’t be too late.”


Earth Immortals are cultivated from a blessed land,

"What's Storyteller Ren doing?" the empress asked faintly in the palace. The musical box in her hand was giving off a crisp and clear melody.
"He has not once left his room for the past few days. Every day, he will sit behind the table and study the martial art without doing anything else. Occasionally, he will yell and yank his hair," Hong Luan replied softly.
"Oh," The empress nodded her head and placed a piece of candy into her mouth.
 She had been feeling bored these few days. She wanted to listen to some stories, but Ren Baqian was busy with his cultivation.
Behind her, Hong Luan winked at Qing Yuan. This was the fifth time that the empress asked them about Ren Baqian. She would ask them about him once every day.
Has Her Majesty fallen for that guy?
It's a pity that he was too weak.
And at this moment, Ren Baqian was yanking his hair in distress. He was distraught with anxiety. A moment ago, he lost his focus again.
 The method introduced by Abbot Su Wen was harder than he expected.
It had been seven days—four days in this world and three days on Earth. Every time he tried to focus his attention, his subconscious mind would bubble up with various distracting thoughts. Needless to say, it was even harder to focus while he was sleeping or eating.
He also did not know when he would be able to achieve the state of emptiness in his mind. It was possible that he could never ever achieve it.
At this point in time, he was felt very dejected and took out the Heart Sutra.
"Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, when he meditated deeply, saw the Emptiness of all five Skandhas and sundered the bonds that caused him suffering. Listen Sariputra, this Body itself is Emptiness and Emptiness itself is this Body. This Body is not other than Emptiness and Emptiness is not other than this Body. The same is true of Feelings, Perceptions, Mental Formations, and Consciousness. Listen Sariputra, all phenomena bear the mark of Emptiness;their true nature is the nature of no Birth nor Death, no Being nor Non-being, no Defilement nor Purity, no Increasing nor Decreasing…"
Ren Baqian read the scripture over and over again. After reading it for an unknown number of times, his mind finally calmed down.
Placing the Heart Sutra aside, Ren Baqian stood in front of the window and took in a deep breath of air. Following which, he opened his mouth and yelled at the top of his voice, "AHHH!"
His yell scared away a lot of birds.
The guard standing at the entrance shook his head at Ren Baqian. Every day, Ren Baqian would have several outbursts. The guard was already used to seeing him like this.
After yelling at the top of his voice, Ren Baqian felt much better. He returned to the table and flipped open the manual of [Ruyi Visualization]. Then, he continued to stare at the lake on the first page of the manual. He concentrated all his attention to it, not daring to relax at all.
He had made some progress in last two days. Even though the progress he made wasn't huge, he found it easier to focus his attention on [Ruyi Visualization] now. This gave him some hope.

"How's Ren Baqian?" The empress was feeling bored in the garden. She reached out her hand and a bird flew into her palm. If one took a closer look, he or she would realize that the bird was frantically flapping its wings and trying its best to escape from the empress's palm. Despite all its effort, it still remained in the empress's palm.
"I heard that he doesn't yell as much as before now. Sometimes he doesn't even know when his meals are delivered to him. I also heard that he is in a very bad condition now. He has become very weak."
The empress brought the bird to her face and stared at its tiny eyes. The bird's eyes immediately filled with fear and panic. She dully raised her hand and let the bird free.
"Did he eat?"
"Every time, the food is placed in front of him. Sometimes, he will finish the food. Sometimes, there will be leftovers. However, for the last two meals, he did not eat at all," Hong Luan replied.
The empress nodded her head, looking slightly distracted. She seemed to be thinking of something.

Looking at the city wall that appeared on the distant horizon, a smile appeared on Seventh Prince's face. He was finally back.
For the past fifteen days, he had been on the road, and as such, he was feeling utterly worn out. No matter how luxurious his carriage was, it still couldn't be compared with his mansion house.
Even thought this was just a county near the border of Great Xia, it still had hot water, fine liquor and delicious food. Overall, it was still better than the wilderness.
However, he had been feeling uneasy for the past two days. He had a premonition that something was going to happen.
When Seventh Prince's carriage reached entrance of the county town, the county magistrate, the official registrar, and other officials of the county came out to receive Seventh Prince. "Welcome, Your Highness."
"What are your names?" Seventh Prince smiled and asked.
"I'm the county magistrate, Li Zisheng. This is the official registrar, this is the county military officer…"
"Alright, I have noted down your names. I am just passing by this town, prepare a place for me to rest tonight, and I will set off tomorrow morning," Seventh Prince pulled open the curtain of the carriage and said.
"Yes, Your Highness. We have already prepared a place for you to rest," the county magistrate and the official registrar immediately replied.
 "Good job." Seventh Prince nodded his head and closed the curtain.
The county magistrate, the official registrar, and their counterparts heaved a sigh of relief. The status of Seventh Prince was too grand for them to curry favor with him. As long as nothing went wrong, they would be thankful to Heaven.
As for Seventh Prince saying that he had noted down their names, only a fool would believe in such conventional words.
Hong Bao and his counterparts were waiting for them on a distant mountain. All of them had carried jerky with them. As they were waiting, they ate the jerky and washed it down with unfiltered rice wine. This was considered a form of enjoyment in the wilderness.
When night arrived, a huge man returned reported to back to Hong Bao and said, "Sir, they have entered Pinggu county."
"Alright. From Pinggu county to the capital of Great Xia, they have to go through Broken Dragon Canyon. We will wait for them there," Hong Bao said loudly. "We have rested enough, let's go now."
Hong Bao only brought fifteen men. Including him, there was a total of sixteen men. Traversing through the forest, they ran as fast as though they were flying. While it was still dark, they quickly crossed the plain. The next morning, they entered the forest to hide themselves again. By the time night arrived, they had reached Broken Dragon Canyon, which was 150 kilometers into Pinggu county.
Broken Dragon Canyon was a canyon with a dragon-head-shaped mountain on one of its sides. On its other side, there was a meandering mountain range that was shaped like the body of a dragon.
Reportedly, during the ancient times, there was a real dragon here and a colossal sword descended from the sky at the same time. The sword eventually beheaded the dragon, forming Broken Dragon Canyon.
After Hong Bao and his men reached Broken Dragon Canyon, he sent some men to keep a lookout for Seventh Prince's carriage. Everyone else then rested in the forest.
Another two days had passed. In the morning, someone reported back to Hong Bao, "That carriage is here."
After a while, a convoy appeared on the horizon. At the front and the back of the convoy, there were fifty horsemen each. All of their strength was on Man Level. Seventh Prince had spent of a lot of effort and time to hire and cultivate these horsemen.
In the middle of the convoy, there were five carriages. The most luxurious-looking one was Seventh Prince's and Xiu Wu's carriage. Behind them, there was a carriage that carried two consecrated experts. Both of their strength were on the Earth Embryo Level. The remaining three carriages carried the supplies needed for the long journey.
Hong Bao had already acquired this information before he set out on this mission. There were only one hundred horsemen that were on Human Level and two experts that had reached the peak of Earth Embryo Level. A grin appeared on Hong Bao's face. After waiting for so long, he could finally take action.
"Sir, what now?" someone asked Hong Bao.
"Kill every single one of them, don't leave anyone alive. Remember, I want Seventh Prince's head, don't crush it," Hong Bao reminded his men.
"Understood." Everyone nodded their heads.
When Seventh Prince's convoy reached Broken Dragon Canyon, it reduced its speed and stopped. Four horsemen whipped their horses and proceeded forward first.
Even though it was impossible that anyone would dare to ambush their convoy in Great Xia, it was still better for them to be safe than sorry.
When the convoy began advancing again, Hong Bao waved his hand and his men immediately took down the bows from their backs.
"Attack!"


In a world where its inhabitants can destroy a city wall single-handedly, the empress has a kirin as her pet, and the imperial palace of Great Xia has a pool containing a dragon. There is also a Sword Mountain where spirit swords occasionally leave in search of a master .

Bootlicking the empress, Ren Baqian ascended to the apex of life.

Hou Yi paused for dramatic effect "Tell me why you should remain as CEO?"

"I am head of the main branch of the Lu family and therefore should be the CEO of the company."

Anna, leaned over and whispered, "Can I have the final folder please."

Hou Yi reached in to the briefcase and pulled out the final folder handing it to Anna.  She opened it up "CEO Lu do you not know the terms of the appointment of the CEO of the company at present."

"You have no ability to say anything here.  You handed over your proxy, now shut up."

Hou Yi said "Actually CEO Lu, as this is a legal matter and my wife is qualified to speak on this."

"Forget it."

Calmly Anna said "I do not give damn, this is what I am going to say what I need to say.  CEO Lu, you are only CEO because you were appointed by your grandfather before he died.  His will makes it clear that the CEO can be changed, if the majority of the shareholders by a motion require it.  It also sets out, for at least the next thirty of so years how the CEO is to be appointed."

"Any male adult member of the Lu family can be considered provided that they are not serving a term of more than three years imprisonment or a ban of that length from being involved with the company.  Given your son's ban that means that any appointment, if the majority of shareholders demand your removal is only temporary until your son serves his ban, and then the question of the permanent CEO can be decided."

Taking a breath, Anna then continued still as calm as possible.  "No position is certain, and you cannot guarantee that the majority of shareholders will not act.  The consequences of the decision would be, you cease to control all but the three percent of the shares you hold until your grandchild is born, and the new CEO whether permanent or temporary controls the voting rights of the company."

"Here is a copy of the will I mentioned previously with this in it as probated in Victoria, along with the translation.  While the translation provides the details of what is to happen, I would say that it is not a totally accurate translation, the level of accuracy is sufficient for the Registrar of Probate in Victoria where a reseal was granted."  Starting to hand out copies Anna said "I am sorry I do not have enough copies though."

CEO Lu was in stunned silence, these two had done all their work, and had his position teetering on a fine edge.

For the members of the Lu family who were reading the will, they all were stunned.  The b*stard had been able to keep all the terms of the will secret, insisting that the Will provided that he had to be CEO or they would lose their shares to him.  They were all ready to lynch him.

Meanwhile CEO Yang, was surprised at the conditions of the will.  While he was willing to cooperate, with Hou Yi the situation was different now.  He thought the shares would all go to CEO Lu, but now it would be a battle as to who became temporary CEO, as in the end, Lu Jinhu would end up in that position.

From what he remembered, despite playing dumb, and his recent actions he was the brightest of the rest of the family and would want to succeed.  The others, were only out for money.  Mmmm, what to do.  He however knew that he would not go back on the word he had given Hou Yi, as that would impact his business reputation.

Following on from his wife Hou Yi, now went in for the kill "I am  going to move a shareholders motion that the current CEO of Lu Corporation be removed from his position, and that an externally appointed committee interview all male members of the Lu Family for appointment as the temporary CEO until such time as Mr Lu Jinhu serves his court imposed ban.  At that time, the same externally appointed committee re-interview all eligible members of the Lu Corporation for the appointment of the permanent new CEO."

CEO Yang then spoke "I support that motion.  CEO Lu, your attitude today gives me no confidence that this crisis will be handled properly, and in the end, protecting Lu Corporation has to be prioritised over your ego."

Anna Jones, an Australian travelled with her fiancé Lu Jinhu to marry in his home country, only to find out that she has been duped by him and robbed of everything that she owns.  A quirk of fate allows her to marry CEO Hou Yi, who was meant to on the same day marry his finance Yang Lin, who in fact married Lu Jinhu.  Marriage for Anna, started as a plan to gain some measure of revenge on Lu Jinhu, and for Hou Yi to prevent Lu Jinhu from obtaining the family company however fate had something different in store for them. "What should I do?" the wife of the patient asked.
"What do you mean?" the patient's mother asked.
"Should I just leave him laying here?" the wife asked.
"Let the doctors treat him first," the patient's mother suggested.
The wife and mother of the patient hadn't reached an agreement about whether the patient should be transferred to a different place. After all, they couldn't trust the rumors. They hadn't met anyone with the same condition being cured, so they didn't want to take the risk. They didn't think any doctor in a small clinic would be better than the doctors in the hospital. Most people would have the same thoughts, which was reasonable.
In most cases, the so-called folk prescriptions that claimed to be able to cure severe illnesses were a fraud. Some people's condition got worse because they missed the best time to receive treatment after using folk prescriptions.
However, the family members of the patient were wrong this time. Of course, they didn't know at the moment.
"Is he still here?" Pan Jun came along twice to ask about the patient in one day while the patient was receiving treatment. "How is he?"
"What? Which patient?" the registrar doctor asked. "You know I have a lot of patients lately."

"What are you going to do? Just leave him there?" Pan Jun asked.
"Of course not. I've suggested transferring him to a different hospital to his family," the registrar doctor said.
"What did his family say?" Pan Jun asked.
"They want him to be here for a bit longer," the registrar doctor said.
"I see, thank you," Pan Jun said.
"You are welcome," the registrar doctor said.
They can't make the patient better here, but the doctors in the hospital in the city can make him better. I doubt it. Pan Jun wasn't sure what he could do for the patient, but his young teacher might know. I should go to talk to Dr. Wang tomorrow and learn something new from him when I am there.
Meanwhile, Wang Yao was seeing his last patient of the day in his clinic. It was nearly noon.
"Hello, Doctor, you seem to be having a busy day." It was a man in his 40s. He was wearing a pair of frameless glasses and looked very young.
"It's alright." Wang Yao glanced at the middle-aged man. "You don't seem to be ill."
"What? Why did you say that?" the middle-aged man asked. "I'm a bit unwell. My blood sugar level has been a bit too high recently. Let me introduce myself. My name is Zhu Yutang. I'm the deputy chief director of Renji Hospital." The middle-aged man took out his name card and handed it to Wang Yao.
"Renji Hospital?" Wang Yao asked as he took over the name card.
"Yes, our hospital is private. Our head office is located in Wei. We have hospitals in Dao and Ji," Zhu Yutang said.
"I see," Wang Yao said.
"I have heard people talking about you a lot, and I witnessed your wonderful medical skills this morning," Zhu Yutang said. "Look, I'm here to invite you to work at our hospital. We want to offer you the registrar doctor position in the department of Chinese Medicine."
"I'm sorry, I'm not interested," Wang Yao said.
"We can offer you an annual salary of $200,000," Zhu Yutang said.
Wang Yao didn't respond. He started to pack up.
"We can also offer you to work in our best buildings with modern equipment. You can choose to work in any one of our hospitals," Zhu Yutang said.
"I'm sorry," Wang Yao said.
"Plus a car that is worth about $200,00," Zhu Yutang said. "What do you think?"
Wang Yao stopped packing and looked up at Zhu Yutang. "Thirsting after talent?"
"We are always happy to invest in talented people," Zhu Yutang said.
The reason Renji Hospital could expand so rapidly was that the hospital had hired many talented doctors from other hospitals. Renji Hospital management attracted those doctors with a high salary since they knew a doctor with a good reputation would attract a lot of patients. They also knew a high salary always worked in attracting good doctors.
"Sorry for wasting your time, but I'm not interested," Wang Yao said.
What kind of person would turn down such a good offer?
Zhu Yutang frowned. He thought he couldn't make a better offer than he had. If Wang Yao hadn't been strongly recommended by a friend and he hadn't witnessed Wang Yao's fantastic medical skills himself, he wouldn't have offered him such a high salary, which could attract good doctors from 3A-grade hospitals.
"Tell me what else you want. We can certainly consider it," Zhu Yutang said.
"I like this village, and I don't want to work for anybody. Sorry, I have to go now," Wang Yao said.
Zhu Yutang had nothing else to offer. He followed Wang Yao out of the clinic. "What is so good about this village?"
"The air here is fresh, and it is quiet and peaceful. Most importantly, this place is my hometown," Wang Yao said.
Zhu Yutang looked confused.
"Well, never mind, I don't think you'd understand," Wang Yao said.
He could only see money and profit in Zhu Yutang's eyes. He didn't think Zhu Yutang could get him.
"If you change your mind, please let me know," Zhu Yutang said as he got into his car and drove off.
"Chief, is everything going alright?" his assistant in the car asked.
"He's just a stubborn guy. He kept talking about his hometown, fresh air, and a peaceful environment. What a stupid guy!" Zhu Yutang laughed coldly.
While he was thinking about what to do next, the car swerved a bit. Two cars passed his. Who are those people? Both cars were imported Mercedes S class.
"The number plates are from Dao," Zhu Yutang said. "What are they doing here? Don't tell me they are here to see him."
"You must be joking!" Zhu Yutang's assistant said.
"Stop the car," Zhu Yutang said.
Creak! The car stopped.
Zhu Yutang got out of the car. He stood to the side and looked toward the two S-class cars. Both cars stopped in the middle of the village. Several people got out of the cars.
"Who is that? He looks like someone," Zhu Yutang murmured. Because he was a bit distant from both cars, he couldn't identify the person.
"Dad, what brings you here?" Sun Yunsheng asked.
"I'm on my way to do run some errands. I thought I might visit you since I was passing by the village," Sun Zhengrong said.
The person Zhu Yutang couldn't identify was Sun Zhengrong.
"Hello, Uncle Sun," Zhen Weijun said.
"Weijun, it seems you are recovering well," Sun Zhengrong said.
"Yes, I'm doing well, thanks to your recommendation. Dr. Wang is a fantastic doctor," Zhen Weijun said.
"No worries, it's also because you are a fortunate person," Sun Zhengrong replied.
"Hello, Director Sun," Zhen Shixiong said.
"You don't need to call me Director, Shixiong," Sun Zhengrong said. "We don't have many opportunities to catch up, so I want to invite all of you for lunch today."
"Thank you. Shall we ask Dr. Wang to join us?" Zhen Shixiong suggested.
"I'll ask Dr. Wang," Sun Yunsheng said.
Wang Yao had seen their cars and guessed it was Sun Zhengrong arriving.

There were four dishes and one soup for three people in Wang Yao's family.
"What for?" Wang Yao asked.
"I wanted to invite you to my house for lunch today," Sun Yunsheng said.
"No, thank you." Wang Yao declined the invitation without thinking.
His mother had cooked lunch. Therefore, he wouldn't eat elsewhere if not necessary.
"That's fine. Sorry to bother you," Sun Zhengrong said.
"Ha-ha, how about you stay here for lunch?" Wang Yao suggested.
"No, thank you, my father is here. I have to go home," Sun Yunsheng said.
"I see. Well, say hello to your father for me," Wang Yao said.
Sun Yunsheng left Wang Yao's house feeling disappointed.
"Why didn't you accept Mr. Sun's invitation?" Zhang Xiuying asked.
"I don't like eating with those businessmen," Wang Yao said.
"Fair enough. Let's eat," Zhang Xiuying said.
"Would you like to have a glass of wine with me?" Wang Fenghua asked.
"Sure." Wang Yao went to fetch the wine with a smile. He served his father and himself a glass of wine.
In Sun Yunsheng's house, a banquet had been prepared.
"Dr. Wang's mother had already cooked lunch, so he is not going to join us," Sun Yunsheng said.
"That's fine. I'll visit him this afternoon," Sun Zhengrong said.
Wang Yao chatted with his parents and sat in his room for a short while before heading to his clinic.
"Hello, Mr. Sun." He found Sun Zhengrong waiting for him outside the clinic.
"Hello, Dr. Wang," Sun Zhengrong said.
"Please come in," Wang Yao said.
He made Sun Zhengrong a cup of tea after they entered the clinic.
"Have some tea, please," Wang Yao said.
"Thank you," Sun Zhengrong said. "I hope Yunsheng hasn't caused any trouble here."
"Ha-ha, of course not," Wang Yao replied.
"I heard from Weijun and Yunsheng that you are interested in establishing a pharmaceutical company," Sun Zhengrong said.
"Yes, I am interested," Wang Yao said.
"If you are serious about it, I can probably help you," Sun Zhengrong said.
"Really?" Wang Yao asked with surprise. What does he mean? Does he want to be part of it?
Sun Zhengrong was a businessman with a vision. He was very smart. He knew how much profit a pharmaceutical company could make and what an extraordinary doctor Wang Yao was. Sun Zhengrong had herbs from Wang Yao and was amazed by the effect. If those herbs could be manufactured in large amounts, the profit would be enormous. Besides, working with Wang Yao would strengthen his relationship with him and Zheng Weijun's family. One stone was going to hit three birds. Why wouldn't he consider it?
"I haven't decided yet," Wang Yao said.
"I see. It was just a suggestion," Sun Zhengrong said with a smile.
He didn't stay in the clinic long because Wang Yao had patients in the afternoon.
It seems they really want me to run a pharmaceutical company, Wang Yao thought.
"Hello, Dr. Wang." A female patient came in.
"Hello, Ma'am," Wang Yao said.
He knew this woman, who was in her 60s. She lived in a nearby village.
"Dr. Wang, I feel much better. No more headaches and dizziness," the woman said. "Can you take a look again? Do I still need to take medication?"
"Let me take a look." Wang Yao took a good look at her. "Good, you don't need to take any medications, just be aware of your lifestyle."
"Thank you very much," the woman said.
"You are welcome," Wang Yao said.
Pan Jun came to the clinic when Wang Yao was seeing the second patient.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Wang," Pan Jun said.
"Good afternoon, don't you have to work today?" Wang Yao asked.
"No." Pan Jun was going to come in the morning, but he had something else to do instead.


In an inaccessible village, there were a few houses on the hillside. 
People from far away were attracted here and the mountain road was crowded with luxury cars, because, in this town, there was a young man with incredible medical skills  who could cure all kinds of illnesses!
