"Sandalwood?"
Xu Ke was confused for a moment. He did not understand the connection between Chongzhou's rich production of sandalwood and her favoritism towards Chongzhou.
"Well, don't underestimate the sandalwood." Jiang Pengji smiled and revealed a hint of gentleness. "At first, Chongzhou wasn't my aim. However, I changed my mind because of the sandalwood. If Father is appointed as the magistrate of Chongzhou, many plans can be started."
Jiang Pengji wanted to demolish the current knowledge inheritance system. The primary problem was not the criticism that she would receive from the aristocratic families, but the material used to produce books.
Bamboo was cumbersome and costly, so even if the commoners farmed for their entire lives, they would not be able to raise a scholar.
Although bamboo paper was good, it had some disadvantages. Paper mills had limited annual production. Apart from the fact that a thing was priced as though it was rare and they had to control the production output, there were also limited raw materials.
Hejian County had dense forests, but there were very few bamboo forests. The quality of bamboo would affect the quality of bamboo paper.
In terms of the transportation in the ancient times, raw materials would have to be obtained locally in order to save as much costs as possible. Therefore, the bamboo papers produced by the paper mills were mostly sold to the aristocrats. The rest of them were for their own use. The scale of production had never been expanded.
Jiang Pengji's ambition was not limited to that. The output of bamboo paper could not satisfy her needs, so she naturally had to find another way.
After searching all kinds of wood, sandalwood was the type of wood that Jiang Pengji found to be the closest to the blue sandalwood tree.
The audience in the streaming room said that rice paper was the type of paper used in the ancient times. One of the raw materials used to produce rice paper was blue sandalwood.

The technology for producing bamboo papers in the paper mills was developed. Even if a type of raw material was changed, a new type of paper could be produced after a few experiments.
With the cheap raw material and the support of a developed technology, that meant that the cost of the new type of paper would be much lower––at least it would be cheaper than it was now.
Xu Ke rubbed his hands excitedly. Once he thought of the fact that a lot of bamboo papers could be purchased at a lower price, he was so thrilled that his heart was beating fast. "… However, if Chongzhou accidentally falls into the hands of others… By then, all the plans will…"
Jiang Pengji replied, "That's why I need to let Father know of this matter and try to find a way to make it work so we can conquer Chongzhou righteously."

Tushuguan Guanzhang: "Is the streamer going to print in secret? Is it movable type printing or woodblock printing?"
Laosiji Lianmeng: "It must be movable type printing… However, in some cases, woodblock printing is better than movable type printing."
Dianji Mowang: "I'm disappointed. I was hoping that the streamer would use something like a printing machine, but it turns out to be printing."

Jiang Pengji had thought about paper and printing a long time ago.
There was a paper mill that produced bamboo papers with ready-made technology in hand, so she only had to think about ways to save costs and choose the suitable raw materials.
As for printing? Ha! She only knew about printing machines.

The use of copper and iron as raw materials to make the matrix required a huge amount of material cost. Wood was quite a good choice, but it could potentially become deformed or damp, or it could be eaten by woodworms.
Jiang Pengji lowered her eyelids and said, "Sandalwood is actually quite good, and woodworms don't easily consume it. It has a fine texture and it won't become too deformed. It should be able to last longer if it's kept in a dry place… However, we need to run an experiment in order to know the specifics."
The key thing was that wood was cheaper and it would be easier to carve as well.
Xu Ke nodded solemnly.
If those two things were successful, it would benefit countless students who were eager to learn––not to mention that it would go down in history.

"Keep it. Wait until we really stand firm. Take it slow." Jiang Pengji got up and patted Xu Wei's shoulders.

Liu She and the other deputy examiners had to review the exam papers in a heavily-guarded place. He was the head and the other examiners were official assistants. They gave a score to all the exam papers, which were all anonymous. The scores were namely listed as "excellent,""moderate," and "poor." Then, they comprehensively calculated the scores of the other sections.
There were only a little more than 100 scholars, so the work was not all that tedious.

Fang Beidou's throat was on fire, his head covered in sweat as he made orders in the printing press. The entire newspaper agency from head to toe was working very hard.

"The Great Han Empire, first lunar month in the 17th year of the Yuanping reign, the great earthquake in Gong Province…"
"The Great Han Empire, fourth lunar month in the 17th year of the Yuanping reign, landslide on Mount Luchuan…"
"The Great Han Empire, ninth lunar month in the 17th year of the Yuanping reign, the Heavenly Tribulation occurs. All stars fall. The capital regions become the land of death, a desert that spans a thousand li where thousands of lives perish and return to ashes…"
"The stone turtle doesn't open its mouth. If you see this item, you gain the opportunity. Save the citizens, escape a thousand li away, and you shall survive!"
Even Fang Beidou's heart was shaking when he looked at the content. Other than the content itself, it was because he knew from whom this content came from.
This was the crisis of the empire, tens of thousands of stars falling, thousands of kilometers of land around the capital turning barren. Without that person, he didn't know how many would die under this crisis and what huge change would come to the Great Han Empire.

The turtle was very heavy and the palace received news of it late. With countless people watching it while it was shipped, it traveled slowly. So by the time it was shipped to the palace, it was already dark.
"Everyone, the stone turtle is here. Speak up with what ideas you have!" The Emperor scanned his ministers and finally spoke.
"Emperor, this is very suspicious. The words of the stone turtle are too shocking and blasphemous. The entire capital is worried about this now. I think someone is behind this. The White Lotus Society is best at doing such foul play. I think we should forbid discussion of this in the community. Those who dare to speak of this will be punished heavily!" The Minister of Justice Gu Chunyi spoke first.
"Lord Gu, that's not the best idea. We don't know if the White Lotus Society is behind this. Even if they are, restricting discussion would be useless and would instead cause chaos. Tens of thousands of people saw this already at the river and on its way to the palace, more citizens saw it as well. Probably a few hundred thousand people saw it. "So Lord Yan thinks we should let rumors spread and not care about it?" Gu Chunyi glared at Yan Jingtian coldly.
"Of course not, otherwise His Majesty wouldn't have called us over for discussion. This is a big dilemma, so we should be careful about it. Everyone should voice their opinions and let His Majesty decide!" Yan Jingtian said calmly.
"Lord Yan is right, this is a big issue, the imperial court must not worry first and give those enemies a chance to attack. Careful, Your Majesty!" another minister said.
Gu Chunyi glanced at that person desperately. Lin Qingtian left the capital two days ago to Jin Province to check on agriculture. He would take seven days to come back. There's no rush to determine whether it's real or fake or how the imperial court should act accordingly. We just need to wait till the fifth lunar month and see if the Heavenly Dog devours the sun. If that doesn't happen, then this stone turtle is all lies and the imperial court needs to do nothing. If there really is such an event, then no one would dare to stay around the capital. If something big happens, I suggest everyone and His Majesty make early plans…"
The throne room fell into silence…


The most precious things in the world are priceless. Ordinary men tend to turn a blind eye to this fact. Apart from the treasured air, sunlight, and familial love, there is still one more thing that’s extremely valuable. It’s right beside you and can be easily obtained. But... I wonder whether you can see it?

When Primo went down with Sam-a shadow lurked from behind the door. The shadow breathed hard and slowly came out into the light when it sensed that no one was around the room -it was Barney. He went to Primo's table and opened the bag. He saw the piece of transcribed paper which Primo deciphered earlier that night. He read it for a few seconds, inserted it inside his trench coat pocket and then hurriedly left the bag in its open state. He went out of the room and went down towards the basement.
Barney turned on the furnace and waited for the fire to burn the piles of wood and then partially closed the small metal door. The furnace made a loud clunk sound when the smoke built up inside. Barney pulled down a lever and the sound was reduced but it made an occasional hum like that of an engine. He then checked the fire inside the furnace and it was burning just as he expected. He carried the sacks of letters and threw its contents inside the furnace. While waiting for it to get burned he stacked some of the sacks on top of each other and sat on top of it. He lit a cigarette then exhaled a couple of times before taking Primo's letter out of his pocket.
The furnace began to talk to Barney as the fire inside gobbled the humongous pile of paper. 
Meanwhile, Sam gave the final go signal to the typeset beddings while Primo looked on. There was none that changed as he agreed that everything was properly locked in place and there is no way changes- if ever it was introduced-could be made in the middle of printing. Sam had his nose sniffing something. 
"Do you smell that?" Sam looked around even walking inside the printing area and checking the humongous machines. "
"It smells of smoke!" Primo replied.
Sam slammed his arms in the air. "Oh, it's Barney! Could someone tell him to burn those goddamn letters after midnight when we are finished printing!"
"I will," Primo volunteered. 
"Tell him to turn that furnace off before we get all burned here."
Primo went down the basement and as he stepped closer he could hear Barney talking out loud.
"He knew what's happening, master. "
The deep loud harrowing sound from the inside of the furnace was menacing.
"He knew Paul Kelis found the link to the twin baby and I fear Primo Lanz will try to find it himself."
The sound of grinding metal seemed to respond in ways that Barney could only understand.
"I won't allow it. Yes, master."
Primo saw Barney kneeling in front of the furnace and bowed himself after he gave out his response. 
"I don't think he had the idea of what was to come. He seemed clueless still. I have my eyes and ears on him, master."
Primo thought Barney was acting odd. He did not see nor hear anyone beside the burning furnace and yet he was talking as if someone was in front of him.
"I took the liberty of getting this inside his bag." Barney raised the sheet of paper containing the deciphered article of Paul Kelis.
Primo cupped his mouth. This is getting out of hand and he needed to do something.
"Master, I will burn this. No one must know what is going to happen. This will open the doors and I will not allow it to interfere with your grand plan."
Primo stood up and opened the metal door of the furnace. He looked one last time at the sheet of paper and he was about to put it inside the furnace when Primo grabbed his left hand from behind.
"You motherfuc_ing asshole! What are you doing Barney!" Primo grabbed the letter but it went straight inside the mouth of the furnace when Barney resisted and punched him on the face. Primo pushed Barney on the side but Barney fought back kicking Primo on his side. Primo grabbed Barney's leg and wrestled him on the floor. Primo was able to subdue Barney face down.
"You crazy motherfu_ker! You stole my letter? Didn't you?"
Barney shouted back while half his face was firmly pressed on the ground. "I will steal everything you never owned in the first place!"
"What do you mean?"
"You don't know anything! I tell you. It's better you know nothing."
"Then tell me what I don't know, Barney!"
Barney laughed. "You will die, Primo Lanz. I am warning you. You will end up with nothing as you go deeper in your inquiry."
Primo punched Barney in the face. "I won't die you stupid motherf_cker! I will go on finding whatever is f_cking this town in its head."
"You will burn as you go deeper, Primo. That furnace will burn you alive. Master won't allow you!"
"Show me who your master is!"
The furnace seemed to have a mind of its own as it breathed fire throwing Primo on the side. Barney stood up and ran away.
Primo stood up and pressed the lever down turning the furnace off. He saw he had burns on the side of his arms and back. He grimaced in pain as he went upstairs to run after Barney. He literally ran out of breath when Sam saw him.
"Where's Barney?" Primo asked.
Sam had his mouth open seeing Primo' burn in his arms and back.
"Barney did this?"
"He's crazy Sam! We need to stop him!"
The rest of the employees running the printing machines gathered around Sam and Primo.
Sam ordered the people around him. "Find Barney! And someone call the police!"
One of the employees approached Sam.
"Sam, I saw Barney on the roof."
Primo and Sam looked at each other. "Let's go up. The rest stay here. I don't want that printing press machine stopping! We got to deliver the journal by 12 midnight."
Sam took his key and opened the glass cabinet on the wall with a displayed shotgun. "We might need this in case he gets violent." He then took some bullets and loaded them inside the loading flap. 
"He doesn't have any weapon with him," Primo pointed out.
Sam held tightly the shotgun and using his left hand he slid the bottom pump backward then forward to load the chamber with bullets.
"You don't know Barney," Sam replied.
The two went up to the top floor and saw Barney standing on the roof near the glassy section. The printing press office had a separate section where the humongous machine can reach the top floor so portions of the roof was designed with glass roofing to allow natural lighting.
"He got a knife, Sam," Primo remarked as the two climbed on the roof. 
"Barney! What are you doing?" Primo shouted. Barney hissed back with a fiery looked in his eyes.
"You are a bad boy, Barney! What is going on with you?" Sam asked.
Barney just moved back not saying a word. He waved his knife to Sam and Primo as they got closer to him.
"Don't come close to me! Supreme master will get both of you if you ever try hurting me."
Sam and Primo looked at each other.
"Did the Supreme Master ask you to do things, Barney?" Sam asked.
"Yes, he knows everything. He controls everything. He can see us," Barney cried.
"Barney, you need help!" Sam shouted back.
Barney cried. "Oh you think I am crazy? I am not! You are both clueless about this world. He is laughing right now with what you are doing."
"Did you or Supreme Master change the article me and Paul Kelis did in The Palindrome Journal?"
Primo heard a cracking sound. It was the glass roofing that could possibly give way any minute.
"You are so naïve! Do you think I can do it by myself? How do you think I can manage to change the words in the journals! The words change by itself! Don't you understand? It will always change with how the Supreme Master wants. You cannot control the narrative of Palindrome. Everything that happened did not happen. Everything that will happen is bound to happen. You cannot control that!"
The cracked in the glass roof began to multiply. Barney looked around his feet. It was too late.
"Don't move Barney!" Sam shouted.
Barney just looked towards Sam and Primo with tears in his eyes. He could not think of any other way he could have done the things he just did.
Barney shouted, "Long live Supreme Master!" before he plunged to his death inside the building hitting his head in the humongous printing machine. The machine sounded an alarm when Barney's body got entangled among the roll of paper. 
Primo and Sam went back inside and hurried themselves down. The printing press was at full stop as everyone was shocked to see blood all over the machine. 
"Oh God!" Sam could barely look at Barney's mangled body partly covered with pages of The Palindrome Journal.
Barney's eyes were wide open as if a divine spirit just touched his broken soul.


Forensic  Jorge Velez is on the heels of a series of  murders but the  events unfolding may have already happened. His team found intertwined events, unusual evidences, strange disappearances, time lapses, and  feeling of 'deja vu'. In order for them to truly find out what is happening they literally  need to run  towards the  shadow's edge and fell 150 meters below.

Did he just walk inside a top secret military program? Where is Dr. Molina? What is his purpose in inviting him?

The electric noise was literally raising all the hair on his arms. There were sudden huge sparks that could literally fry and it randomly  hit the floor and the tall ceiling above. What is this place? There is something massive going on and he needed to understand what this is all about.

"Impressed?" A man behind him asked. It was Dr. Molina. He removed his goggles and grabbed Jorge's arms.

"I could see you are in a confused state. Come inside the briefing room."

Confused is an underestimation. Jorge was literally in a state of shock.

Inside the briefing room, Jorge's hand was trembling as he drank a glass of water together with his medication. He needed something to calm himself down. The voices he heard in his radio, the message from Colonel Riva, and this massive thing in front of him is just too much to process in the blink of an eye. He needed to slow down.

"What's going on?" Jorge's asked as Dr. Molina pore over the result of many of his experiments.

"What you see is what you get Jorge. It's the real deal. A time machine."

Jorge felt his breathing stopped. He heard it loud and clear. A  T-I-M-E machine.

One day later, Huang Xuan arrived in New York. He had taken a flight on Pan American World Airways (Pan Am), which had been the most important airline in America from 1930 to when it became bankrupt in 1991. In the 1930s, Pan Am was the biggest airline in the world, but at present, it was a delivery company that was just starting to add in passenger service.
The headquarters of Pan Am was in New York. In 1929, it had been the most popular stock at the New York Stock Exchange. Fortunately, it wasn't affected much by the depression. To Huang Xuan, taking a flight on Pan Am in 1931 felt special and unreal, as if he had become closer to this plane, to this point in space-time.
Pan Am named most of their planes as "Clipper". These planes traveled between states. The flight route from Detroit to New York was extremely important, the crew all wore formal navy uniforms, and in order to compete with ships and trains, Pan Am gave first class seats to almost all of its passengers. In modern times, such a seat would cost at least 8000 dollars, while Huang Xuan paid less than 100 dollars.
Due to the Great Depression, New York, like other large cities, looked depressed and dilapidated, as if it had just gone through a locust swarm, covering the sun in the shadows.
Huang Xuan had seen so much suffering during the depression that he had almost become immune to them, he wasn't a saviour. Time meant everything to him because he could stay in this plane for only seven more days. Even wasting a second would be shameful.
"Rolin, go find the printing factories nearby, especially the ones Edsel mentioned." Walking in the street of Manhattan, Huang Xuan was reluctant to ask anyone for directions, because he was annoyed and disgusted by the racism of America and the xenophobia of New York.
"You know it will waste a great deal of energy, don't you?" Rolin complained. "Searching for materials in a plane without data might cost at least a million units of energy."
"We're just looking for a factory, don't worry, you will be repaid." Huang Xuan didn't care about a few million units of energy.
"It will cost less if you can tell me more information. "
Huang Xuan grinned and said in a low voice, "Rolin, what do you think about us printing the banknotes by ourselves?"
"Here?" Rolin responded without any change in tone.
"Yes." Huang Xuan answered hopefully. It should be no problem to overcome the anti-counterfeiting technology of the 1930s. Huang Xuan was just worried about the after effects.
"I think it is feasible, but if you want me to retrofit the printers, it might cost tens of millions of energy."
Huang Xuan said immediately: "No problem!". After a moment, he spoke again: "Rolin, how about we print the banknotes back in P112?" 
"Bad idea." Rolin calmly said: "Destroying financial order would damage the buffer zone."
Although Huang Xuan knew Rolin would reject, since the 2nd objective is the safety of the plane, he still added: "We can increase the energy in the buffer zone, then wouldn't everything be okay?"
"No one can be sure how the buffer zone would recover the financial order. Certainly, it cannot do it by reducing the amount of currency available. Therefore, there will be inflation and economic crisis. Also, to reduce the buffer zone's loss, a direct energy strike maybe possible."
"What is a energy strike?" Huang Xuan was scared.
"For example, an earthquake or a thunderbolt with you as the target, would solve the problem easily."
"No way. The buffer zone in your mouth sounds magical." Huang Xuan was amazed.
"Natural law must be obeyed." Rolin sternly said: "The loss caused by printing banknotes in our plane will far surpass the returns. Printing banks notes will reduce the energy in buffer zone and we would need a strong defense at the base to stop the revenge from the buffer zone. This is a method often used by plane colonizer, if you don't care about the loss of P112, we can give it a try." 
Huang Xuan was disappointed. "I thought you were allied with the buffer zone," he muttered.
"Of course I am not. The energy in the buffer zone belongs to the plane itself. It is the foundation of the plane itself, while the base is the creation of humans, at most it is a powerful tool."
"What a shame! I thought I had a good idea."
"The banknotes in your time are all numbered. If we print a lot of banknotes with false or existing numbers, we will be exposed. Besides, P112 is our base area, we shouldn’t exploit it."
"Fine." Huang Xuan compromised. "Find the factory quickly. According to you, if we printed banknotes here, not only can we make money, the energy in the buffer zone would be increased too. "
"That’s because there is neither plane base nor the interference of the administration here. During the time of the big planes, the space-time administration only cared about getting buffer zone energy. Making money was the concern of poor time travelers." Rolin sarcasticly said.
"I would rather be a poor traveler." Huang Xuan held the suitcase tightly. "Where shall we go? Which factory can print banknotes?" Huang Xuan felt excited when mentioning printing bank notes, this could be the most direct and simplest way of making money.
"Beta printing factory in the south district can do what you want, but printing notes requires not only materials and workers, but also retrofitting the machinery. Looking at this factory, I estimate we'll need to use over eighty million units of energy. "
That would be more than seven million dollars. "We're already at this point, why hesitate? Lets go now. " Huang Xuan waved his hand and said.

Beta factory focused on making pulp, making paper and printing. During its peak in 1929 it was worth two million dollars, but after two years of economic depression, its value had dropped to 400,000 dollars.
Of course Huang Xuan didn't have that kind of money, but he was able to pay a deposit of 80,000 dollars. Such a large sum of money was enough to make people forget race and time. In America, money was your identification.
The boss of Beta, Leslie, was a 56 year old Californian. He took the money from Huang Xuan excitedly. The productivity utilization ratio of the factory was even less than 30%, so he thought selling it was for the best.
Since Leslie obtained the deposit so smoothly, he offered to pay the attorney fee and even agreed to a unreasonable request. He allowed Huang Xuan to try the factory for one week and to check the equipment. Of course, his deposit wouldn't be refunded no matter what. 
Huang Xuan didn't intend to buy Beta Factory, he just needed to use it for one week.
Hans (who was wearing an army uniform) unbelievably watched Huang Xuan spend 80,000 dollars just like that. While Leslie was talking to the attorney, he couldn't hold it and warned Huang Xuan: "Boss, we are in an economic crisis. Most factories are shutting down."
"I know." Huang Xuan liked Hans’ frankness. It was a pity for him that this German American couldn’t go back with him. He patted Hans’ shoulder and said, "I can keep this factory and sell it when its price goes up."
"Do you think the depression will be over soon?" Even Hans who hadn’t even finished high school knew the word "depression", but the Americans of this period didn't know that they were experiencing what could be the worst depression in American history.
Looking at Han's hopeful gaze, Huang Xuan could only smile comfortingly and say: "I'm afraid it'll take another year or two." It wasn't until 1933 that the depression started to show signs of ending.
Hans was obviously disappointed, life wasn't bad for him, but it wasn't like that for most veterans. Just then, Leslie came back and said: "Mr. Xuan, I have already sent for my production manager, if needed, he can help you adjust the machinery."
"I already have my own production manager." Huang Xuan apologised. Huang Xuan wasn’t going to allow others to enter the retrofitted workshops, so a production manager would be unnecessary.
Leslie didn’t mind, being able to sell this loss-making factory was enough to satisfy him. "Shall we go sign the contract now?" he said with a relaxed smile.
The current USA, is not like the 1980's, where each contract must be reviewed repeatly by the lawyers. Leslie just needed to get a already prepared contract, and the two bosses could complete the rest of the process.
Huang Xuan briefly scanned the contract and signed his name. The contract followed the fixed format. Starting from 1929, this type of contract had already been used countless times.
Leslie happily put away one copy of the contract, and gave another copy to the notary. Huang Xuan asked: "Are you going to sell the materials in the warehouse? Can you sell them to me?"
"I will give them to you." Leslie sounded generous, but what was left was just some some pulp and paper, worth less than 2000 dollars. Even if Huang Xuan didn't say anything, he would have left them for this adorable asian.
"Thanks a lot." Huang Xuan took 1000 dollars from the suitcase and said, "I know this is not enough, but this is all the cash I have."
"I said I would give them to you." Leslie was sincere.
"I know." Huang Xuan knew what he needed to do, he took 10 one hundred dollar bills, put it with the prepared purchase order and gave it to Leslie. "I also need some chemicals such as phosphoric acid and additives. I don't know anyone in New York, and I can't make you pay for everything. "
Leslie laughed, took the purchase order and said: "You found the right person, nowadays, there aren't many factories that can produce these things."
Huang Xuan smiled, businessmen want profits, there were no free lunches. Doing things like this was for the best.

There are seven workshops in Beta, it once had 500 workers, but now there were only one fifth of them left. When they had work, Leslie would hire some temps to do the simplest physical labour and dismiss them afterwards. This was how most factories operated during the great depression.
American banknote paper was made from paper corporations from the east. American law guaranteed them a degree of monopoly and cut off counterfeiting at the source. By law, it was illegal for anyone to be in possession of this type of paper, this paper that was different from all commercial papers.
One cannot make something out of nothing. Rolin could change the production and the printing method of the notes, but he could not produce the notes magically. It maybe possible according to Einstein's theories, but then each bill would cost billions. So, a factory that can produce its own pulp and paper is necessary.
30 workers were assigned to produce pulp and other basic products. Huang Xuan closed the door to the paper and printing workshops. He asked Hans to leave four people there to stand guard, he made it clear that the machines could be started only when he was there. Otherwise, even Mr. Leslie wasn't allowed in.
The veterans loyally carried out Huang Xuan's orders.
Leslie went home happily. In 1931, selling a factory was extremely hard, completely opposite of the situation 10 years prior.
Huang Xuan looked at the factory with some pride. The factory had a structure of bricks and stone, a big chimney and a dirty sewer. Now it was his. Even if the federal government wanted to search it, they must get a warrant first.
The factory smelled bad, wasted paper mixed with garbage, paper products and their waste were not clean, not to mention the production conditions in 1931. Since Rolin's abilities needed enough authorization or the base itself, Huang Xuan could only stay here and put up with all sorts of strange smells.


Many people felt frustrated by the lack of knowledge after time travel.

Many took their laptops with them during time travel and fell into an awkward situation with deficient electricity.

Many others took the troops with them and found that there were only logistics of 19th century.

Countless predecessors had died on the way, numerous on the land of another world. 

A large number of people had achieved both success and fame after time travel, but failed to find the way back home.

"This is really impressive, Sigurd, I have to admit. When I have the time, I'll work on a few more things for this place here and there so it doesn't look just as empty." Eisen told the Core Guardian with a smile, and they then swiftly made their way through the large door to the side of the room that was supposed to be the exit. And when he did so, he soon saw a few of the Lizardmen and Kobolds working together on constructing the rest of this small 'Village'.
They even flattened the ground a little already to create something like a rough path to guide people along the town. "Hmm, interesting. Ah, that big space over there is probably meant as a marketplace, right?" Eisen asked as he increased his size again and looked in the direction of a large square area in the center of the whole dungeon room that was flattened down similar to the makeshift path.
"Yes, exactly. The construction is a bit more concentrated on other parts of this place though. In the end, stalls are more easily made than houses. And I can't make that kind of thing myself yet, all I can do is grow some trees for everything." Sigurd pointed out, before Eisen slowly nodded while moving his fingers through his beard.
"I see... I'm going to help out when I can. That's probably only going to really happen when we're on our way back to the mainland, there's a few bigger projects I need to work on." Eisen explained with a slight sigh, "I really want to help out, though. What a shame." The old man said with a frown, and then quickly downed the next mana-potion to properly keep up all that was happening with his Mana-doubles at the moment, before Eisen then cracked his knuckles and moved on to his work, making his way over toward the area that he had the materials that he might need at any point already stashed away.
And then, Eisen swiftly unsummoned his Doubles, because he simply didn't want to lose concentration while working because of them, and then moved on to swiftly creating whatever workstation he might need for this now and grabbed some steel.
First, he would be making the printing-press, and he wanted it to be stable enough to not break down while the old man was away. The base of the press was just a small metal box in that case, with a stable top surface, because it was where the paper would be pressed down onto. Inside of that box, Eisen would then later place Soul Generators and Mana Batteries, but first, he needed to actually create that box, which was relatively swiftly done by creating simple metal panes. It would have worked just as well just pouring it into shape, but Eisen figured it would increase the quality of the finished item if he did it manually.
And then, after the base was finished, Eisen created the frame for the actual press-parts. Eisen made four metal bars, one for each corner of the base, and then made more metal bars to connect all of them together at the top so that they would all end up stable enough. And in the place where two of the bars would cross each other, Eisen would then attach the actual press-part of the printing press while it wasn't being used.
Along the four vertical bars, where the edges of the press would be, Eisen created some slits to put the press into their so that it would be somewhat 'Guided', before filling the walls of those slits with parts of an enchantment-array that would later connect to the enchantment actually moving the press up and down.
And after that, Eisen had to actually work on the press. He was using metal for that in his a Deep Visualization, but in the end, that probably would be a subpar choice.
Mana-Crystals were much easier to use. For one, they were easier to transmute, so the enchantment for that would save on a little bit of mana, they couldn't deteriorate or bend over time, and it was easier to enchant them so that they would automatically cover themselves in ink.
For now, Eisen simply quickly created a mana-crystal plate and then worked on the enchantments for the interactive part of it, using the marble workstation that Eisen took from the workshop on the central island.
Although, 'Workstation' was probably a little bit too much, as Eisen only had the actual large marble slab with him, but it was relatively easy to create a base for it using his element.
Once Eisen had everything set up, he quickly started working on the different enchantments. First, he created the 'Interface' that would allow you to type up some things on your own to have printed. It wasn't all that hard in the end, at the very least when compared to what Eisen did for Alnico's DJ-Set.
And on top of that, Eisen already practiced this enchantment in Deep Visualization, just that he had to create something a little bit more detailed and versatile this time around.
Basically, this small enchanted crystal would be the most important item to differentiate between the different types of printing-presses. It was in a place relatively hard to access without opening the whole thing up though, which Eisen did deliberately so that nobody could actually mess with it, but he would be creating a different crystal that was capable of color-printing. This one was specifically made for Magic-Contracts, but the other one would be made so that Eisen would be able to actually copy a picture and have it transfered over onto something else so that he could mass-produce different flyers or advertisements as well, just in case it was needed.
Well, it would be needed, considering that Eisen wanted to make use of some large posters to advertise the Dungeon in the towns he was in, and of course to advertise Komer's shop or his own services as well. Although, for those kinds of things, the actual press would be a little different as well, so that Eisen could make use of one of Evalia's special abilities to attract even more people to them. Especially players would be attracted to them if he could properly figure that out.
But first, Eisen needed to make sure that he could properly finish this regular printing-press before trying all that other stuff out. For the most part, everything was mostly done, Eisen just needed to enchant the mana-crystal plate with Evalia's element-creation and set it to a high-mana black ink, add the transmutation process inbetween the Interactive menu and the crystal plate, and then add the rest of the enchantment to have the press actually press down onto the paper.
"Ah, right, I need to add the Scribing as well..." The old man muttered to himself as he slightly sighed, quickly setting another crystal to the side to do that in a bit. Then he could just fuse that crystal with the crystal plate and properly finishing all that.
Then, at least the base printing press would be done, and Eisen could add the paper-dispenser to it later after testing it out properly.
For now, Eisen quickly stepped out of the dungeon and made his way outside the dungeon to enchant everything with the help of Sky, who had the highest Scribing skill of everyone on the ship, and Evalia, so that Eisen could get her element.
And then, Eisen quickly moved on and started to actually assemble the press by setting the crystal plate into a steel casing, whose insides were enchanted so that the transmutation would work more easily for everything.
At last, Eisen was finally finished with the printing press! Luckily, it wasn't all that much larger than a regular printer because the old man tried to compact it as much as he possibly could, which made it really perfect for the intention Eisen had for it, to make a lot of them available to Komer.
But for now, Eisen just had to actually test it. After seeing this item as finished, the old man quickly poured his mana into the small gem that was supposed to be a relay for the setting-gem, and Eisen then swiftly started to type up a very simple, random document. It wasn't actually anything specific, though. He would have typed the base for a contract type in already if he could actually remember how everything had to be, but considering that he only remembered the rough wording of a few of the most important sentences, that was nothing that Eisen would be able to do so easily.
For now, he would make do with this random one, and then hit the 'Accept' button to the right, before squatting down to be able to see the mana-crystal plate to make sure it was really changing its shape. And to Eisen's more than pleasant surprise, it worked very quickly, and after about a dozen or so seconds, everything was properly set up and Eisen could get to work printing this onto the first piece of paper.
Soon enough, the old man activated the respective enchantment and then happily watched as the surface of the crystal-plate became dyed black before pressing down onto the paper.
Just a few moments after that, Eisen was holding the piece of paper with the random text that he wrote up.
"Now then, this works a lot better than I thought it would, huh..?" Eisen muttered to himself, "This kind of thing probably already exists, though, so it's nothing too revolutionary... Although, I didn't really see any magic contracts readily for sale anywhere up until now."
And just after thinking about that, Eisen looked at the time, happy to see that only about 2 hours passed, and he managed to make this really quickly.
"As I thought, making them at least once before really does help a lot..." While the old man was speaking to himself, he quickly got to work on the next item. Or rather, the second one of this same item. Because Eisen was planning on making at least half a dozen of this exact type, four for Komer and two for himself, although those for himself would be changed a slight bit so that he would be able to easily switch out the 'Modes', between the regular Writing-Based and the Picture-Based printing, as well as the special type of Picture-Based Printing that Eisen wanted to try and figure out.
In the end, though, when they arrived at the island, Eisen didn't manage to finish up a single one, because he was making all of the different pieces in bulk at once so that he didn't need to switch between skill-settings for his Crafting Space skill or for the sigil on the center of his chest in his Demon-Form. They were both important parts of his process at this point, but it was somewhat bothersome to have to change it all the time, especially because Eisen very often forgot and only noticed in the middle of his work for another piece.
So, because of that, Eisen had nearly all the pieces ready, but wasn't able to actually assemble anything yet. But it was fine, he would probably be able to finish it up within a few hours when he got back to it. For now, there was something else that the old man had to deal with, and due to that, quickly stepped through the entrance area and out of the Dungeon, quickly making his way toward where the others were standing.
Eisen was pretty tired right now because he's been awake for a while now, considering that the Deep Visualization didn't drain any stamina but also wasn't considered sleep, so he wanted to get this all over with as soon as he could.
And what he wanted to get over with exactly was the conversation with the giant dragon-like see-creature that was raising its head out of the water in front of the ship, creating giant waves as it did so.

Standing in front of the industrial printer at work, I watch as the mounds of printed documents my manager asked me to print get shit out from one end to the next.

After the thousands of documents are printed, I head to a desk with a chair and sit down. These documents are for the meeting tomorrow.

I work at Gongdan Global Group. I was accepted into the advertisement department because I won the drawing competition but what they failed to add in the fine print was that even though you won the competition, the job description is basically bullshit. I'm like the printer boy and get paid fifty dollars an hour.

The printing room is like my domain and I don't mind most of the time because I'm all alone and comfortable here. I've learnt so much just by reading these documents. I always print an extra copy just in case and when it's not used, I read it.

Sorting out the papers in stacks, I get up and grab the binding puncher and the binding strips along with the clear plastic cover's and today, I'm choosing the green plastic back cover. My aesthetic abilities are on point when binding booklets together no?

I roll my eyes and chuckle at my own nonsense. This job doesn't make much but it's calming, I get to draw in here and clear my thoughts. I stick the next flash drive into the USB port of the laptop I was given and glance at the yellow sticky note that has '20 copies' written on it.

I open the document, click on print, change the number of copies from 1 to 21 and send it through to the printer. I head back to the table and start punching and binding the booklets together. Booklet after booklet is done and the thirty-one booklets are complete.

I raise a brow as I look in the direction of the printer which is still printing. I track back to my laptop and notice the page numbers. Two hundred and forty-six pages; the printer beeps and looking over I see that the toner and paper buttons are flashing.

The printer suddenly stops printing making me sigh. I walked over to the back of the printing room and open the box which holds the reams of paper and frown noticing that there are two reams missing. I take one ream out and grab the box with the toner in it.

Ripping both the box and the paper wrapping open, I insert them in their respective places and press okay. The printer starts up again and spits out the paper. I walk over to the shelf and pick up the clipboard off one of the shelves and look through the document.

It has a record of what all was in and out such as how many boxes of paper and toner, pens, clipboards, binders and other shit on it. I'm the one that checks this off and signs my name on the document so I'm responsible for it and my ass is on the line if shit goes missing.

I pick up an empty ream box stack in all the booklets I made. I place the clipboard on the top of the pile and place the extra copy I made in a separate box with all the other extra booklets I made, then slide it into the lower shelf.

Picking the box up, I head out the room and lock it behind me. I always lock this room when I leave so I don't understand how the two reams can grow feet. Heading to my manager's office with the box, I quickly scan my eyes over each desk trying to find runaway reams.

"Hey pretty boy," Jong Soo interrupts my thoughts. I stop in my steps and turn to look at him behind me. He's tall and handsome, delicious in a way but he tries too hard.

"Morning," I greet back. Ever since I started three months ago he's been asking me out but I'm not interested, worse when the person works in the same company as me which is a big NO!

"Don't greet me with so much enthusiasm," he mocks with a smirk.

"Jong Soo, is there anything you need from me?" I ask trying to get to the point.

"You and I on a date this evening," he says cutting to the chase. His next-door cubical neighbour leans back with a smile as he watches us.

I shake my head, "I'm not interested, even if I was, I'm working tonight. Enjoy the rest of your day boys," I smile and walk away. I hear his neighbour laugh and I decide to ignore them.

I stop at Mr Park's office and knock on the door that's open. He looks at me while speaking over the receiver. I sit the box on his desk and take the clipboard out of the box. He goes on to speak for a few more minutes and put the receiver down with a sigh.

He looks up at me with a tired smile and rubs his eyes, "What can I do for you Mr Cha?" he says as flips through one of the booklets I hand him.

"Sir, the booklets for tomorrow's meeting is done printing. The drafts for the current company projects is currently printing and there's something I'd like to ask you," I end and he looks up at me with a frown.

"Yes?" he motions for me to ask.

"I check inventory every day and a moment ago as I was getting paper for the printer, I noticed that two reams of paper are missing, do you maybe know what happened to them?" I ask him and his frown deepens.

"Did you make sure?" he asks and I nod.

"Yes, the box arrived three days ago along with the other two boxes, one is finished already and the other still closed. This box was also closed and now after I used one ream there is only one left; I lock the printing room every day when I leave, I don't know how it could have been taken and I was the last to leave the office last night," I state trying my best to keep calm.

Mr Park leans forward with his elbows resting on his desk while rubbing his forehead. "Dae Ryeon, I think you should head up to the security room and ask them to view the recordings of last night," he says and I know it's because he knows that I will be held liable and it also makes no sense that I took it because I arrive at work with a satchel so there's no place for it in my bag. That and the fact that Mr Park saw me on the ground level last night leaving the building.

I nod my head and leave his office after he tells me to report back to him. I head over to the elevator and wait for the door to open after pressing the button. The door dings and I enter the cart. The door closes and I press the button for the forty-fifth floor.

It's a long tedious ride along with the bad music.

The door finally dings open but it's the floor before the forty-fifth floor. I smile at the woman who walks in but she just looks at me then looks away as chews gum. Yeah, the fake lips, plastic surgery and fake breast went to her head.

The door dings again and I get off. This floor looks so strange from the rest of the building or well the floors I've been too. Instead of walls, there's just glass from the floor to ceiling and inside were computer towers; beyond that, there were people walking about and checking things.

Some looked at me and raised a brow, yes bitch I'm pretty, get over it… smiling at my ego I head deeper down the path and gain even more attention. I stop at what seems to be a glass door and thin my lips into a smile.

A big buff man walks up to me and asks, "Are you lost?"

I roll my eyes and feel like hitting him with the clipboard in my hand. Holding the clipboard behind my back I smile at him, "Yes, very lost. I'm looking for the security room."

He raises his brow, "I'm in charge of security, what can I help you with?" he asks me.

I jump in my step catching him off guard, "Yes, something's missing from the printing room and the managing director asked me to investigate, so~ can you help?" I ask him and he nods quickly.

He stalks back into the room where the computers are and I wave at everyone I pass, who strangely enough wave back at me. "Theft in the company is a crime, I will not allow any of it," the handsome buffy man says as he sits down and turns to look at me.

I notice three others sitting around out of the way looking at me, "I'm sure of it," I say.

He clears his throat catching my attention, "What floor and time?"

"The advertising department on floor twenty-seven. I locked the printing room at exactly 16:57 pm yesterday so any time after that." I say as I go through the clipboards details.

He turns in his chair and types in something and the footage of me inside the printing room at 15:00 pm shows up on the big screens above his monitors play.

He fast forwards the footage and we watch as I jump about and wiggle my butt. Yeah, when I'm bored I do that shit.

And there you have it. A woman walks into my printing room after I lock up and takes my paper. "Oh, it's Mr Han's secretary," the man says and I mentally high five myself. I'm not getting fired.

"I see, I'll have to get her to sign my document, thanks," I pat his shoulder and walk away before he can say anything else. I need to get out of here soon, they all just watched me dance.

I get into the car and press for the top floor. The door dings after five minutes and opens; I step into the foyer and it's eerily quiet. I see the desk where the secretary is supposed to sit but she isn't there.

I feel a headache come on and slowly stroll through the quiet foyer. It's plain and simple; I hear laugher coming deeper in and slowly make my way there.

"Honestly Eunmin, I can't believe that something like that actually happened," says someone and that voice, fuck, I think I just leaked in my pants. Deep, with a sense of command and husky, deliciously husky.

I suddenly feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. My mind is telling me to stop walking and turn around but my heart wants to know who spoke, I want to see him, I want to hear his voice again, please.

I stop at the door and knock, "Come in," a different voice calls out.

I push down on the handle and push the door open. I walk in and my eyes land on the man behind the desk. He's so handsome, beautiful eyes with smooth cut hair, he's trimmed to perfection and everything else.

"Can I help you?" the man says and I just realize it that he isn't the one I want to speak to. I bow my head in disappointment and say, "Sorry to disturbed you, sir, I'm looking for Miss Jung, she's not at her desk and I need her to sign her name on the document I have here."

He raises a brow and motions for me to go closer. I hand him my clipboard and he asks after reading it, "What is this?"

"The sign off sheet for anything that leaves the printing room, its important documentation for when I do stock checks at the end of the month. Miss Jung took two reams of paper from the printing room last night and didn't sign it out," I say and he reads over the documentation again.

"Why is it the first time I'm seeing such a document?" he asks me and I mentally deadpan.

A booming belly deep laugh erupts from behind me. It has a similar ring to the voice I want to hear; shivers run up and down my spine as my body stiffens. I slowly turn on my heels and see the most delicious, mouth-watering man I've ever laid my eyes on.

His eyes are piercing me turning my legs to jelly. My body shudders as I gulp, the thoughts of being ravaged by him has my body reacting in all sorts of ways, "It's your company and you haven't seen it before?" that heavenly voice asks Mr Han.

My eyes travel down his body, scanning every inch of him and just then, I notice that there's this beautiful petite, young man sitting by his side under his arm. The two of them are wearing mating three-piece suits, with the one the younger man wearing looking more feminine like.

I gulp down the pooling saliva inside my mouth, as my lustful eyes help me strip the younger man out of his clothes. Mr Han and the beast continue talking about company documents but as the beast of a man speaks his eyes are trained on my body and so is the younger men.

They're both smiling at me and the hand the beast-like man has trailing up and down his lover's body has me shuddering; just watching his hand move is as if his hand is rubbing up and down my body.

"Alright, here's your clipboard back," Mr Han says snapping me back to reality. I stretch my fingers out and contract them out of habit and reach overtaking the clipboard. I bow to him then bow to the beautiful couple seated on the couch.

"What's your name?" the young man asks with his sweet voice.

I stand up straight and look into his eyes. My body shudders momentarily as I notice the deep lust in his eyes for me. I catch a quick glimpse of his lover and he has the exact same look in his eyes, "I'm Cha Dae Ryeon," I answer him.

The couple smiles at me, "I'm Im Jae Hyun and this is my boyfriend Kang Jinha, it's nice to meet you, Cha.Dae.Ryeon."

Just the way he said my name made me tremble in excitement and leak precum in my pants. I swallow hard, "It's wonderful meeting the two of you too," I answer and wave and walk out. I hold my head up high until I climb into the car and it dings closed.

My heart is beating uncontrollably fast. Looking down at my pants as I sink down, I groan, fuck the two of them turned me on so bad.

[Jae Hyun's POV]

Rubbing my hand up and down my boyfriend's chest, I whiff in his manly scent. His hand is rubbing up and down my side as I lean against him.

We're in the SUV heading back to his office to get ready for tonight's charity ball for the abused children in South Korea.

Closing my eyes the image of Cha Dae Ryeon comes to mind. He's beautiful, has beautiful fingers, he has a confident walk, thick thighs. He's perfect and I want him.

Raising my head, I kiss Jinha's neck. Climbing on his lap, I straddle him. Rubbing my thumbs against his temples I smile down at him; leaning down I kiss his lips, sucking them into my mouth. He dominantly kisses me back making me melt in his hold.

I pull back after our deep kiss and look down at him hazily, "Jinha~" I call as I rub my nose against his.

He cups my ass and kneads it, "Yes, my love?" he calls back in his dreamy voice.

"I want him," I say looking dead straight into his eyes.

He cups my face and kisses my lips, "You mean Cha Dae Ryeon?" he asks between kisses.

I move my hips and nod my head, "Yes him."

"Why?" he asks me.

I smirk and open my hazy eyes, "You want him too," I say and he chuckles.

"Are you sure about this?" He asks me. I pull out of his hold and purse my lips, "Jinha, it's been a whole year since we decided on adding something to our relationship. Neither of us wants a child and as much as I love you, our relationship is too toxic and suffocating. I don't want to leave you and I know you feel the same but if only if we just try this out, you saw how he looked at us both, he wants us and if we can get him to be with us, it could be a trial. If either of us feels that its wrong once we start, we could always end it."

Jinha sighs and kisses my forehead, "Okay, I'll speak to him but if he doesn't want to then we can't force him."

"Thank you," I say and hug him.

I really love him but I've reached my limit and so has he.

After suffering in his previous relationship that drained him, Dae Ryeon received treatment for the scars and eventually moved on with his life. With a chance encounter at work, he met the most dashing couple that sent his heart into a flutter. Meeting that same couple at a gala he was taken by surprised when they asked him to join their relationship as a third partner. After agreeing to their request, Dae Ryeon found that things weren't as they seemed and was now stuck in this relationship but it wasn't all that bad since it is what he longed and desired for.
