Emperor Ning An's face turned dark as he said "Since when did I gave you the right to call me Father? You lowly man, do you think you can afford to call me father? Are you trying to anger me to death?"

And at this moment, what Princess Anle said before to Concubine Shun rang in their minds 'You lowly concubine, do you dare to call me by my name.'

All of them understood that this grandfather-granddaughter pair really think alike.

Prince Yan poked Prince Chun on his shoulder as he whispered "They both have the same temperament.You will have to be more careful in future.Look at them, they even spoke the same words.Emperor Shang and his concubine are bound to die from humiliation today."

Prince Chun smiled dotingly as he looked at Princess Anle and spoke in a voice only audible to Prince Yan as he said "Here I was wondering that from whom my little Crown Princess has adopted her haughtiness and attitude from."

The both of them smiled in unison as they looked at the pair.

After hearing what the old Emperor said, Emperor Shang was thoroughly embarrassed but he couldn't afford to offend him.He coughed twice to hide his embarrassment as he said "Emperor Ning, how come you are here all of a sudden? You didn't even come here once since the day I married your daughter?"

Emperor Ning An coldly glanced at him as he said "Arrange five carved lacquer pearl engraved thrones here right now.I see that the Tangs are still those uneducated fools as they don't even remember basic etiquettes."

The carved lacquer thrones are the most expensive ones.Even some emperors can't afford them.As for the Tangs, they have some of these thrones stored in the stocks as if it is a royal treasure to them.And pearl engraved thrones are even more pricey.

Emperor Shang could only sigh as he has to take out his royal treasure but why five of them? He sighed as he asked "Emperor Ning, you only need one throne to seat on, then what are you asking the other four for?"

Emperor Ning An was frustrated by this 'lowly man' as he said "You lowly man, you have become so courageous to ask me questions.Anyways, I will answer you since I am happy seeing my granddaughter and grandsons.One throne is for my Guo'er, two for both my grandsons and another one  for my great-grandson.If you dare to ask any further questions, I will make sure you regret it."

Everyone was curious about which two grandsons Emperor Ning An was talking about because as much as they know he has only one grandson who is Li Jian and he is Princess Anle's elder brother.He is one of the three most powerful generals and is currently at the battlefield.So who are these two grandsons? And where did the great-grandson come from?

They thought that this grandfather surely dotes on his granddaughter a lot.

As for the two certain grandsons who didn't even have any clue that they are the rumoured grandsons stood at the side blankly.Because the revelation of their identities is not required yet.

And Prince Chun decided to not reveal it if there is no urgency.Because he wanted to confront Princess Anle about the matter personally, not in a royal court and that too in such situation.

Prince Yan was quite curious about the grandsons of Emperor Ning, so he poked his third brother as he whispered "Third Brother...Third Brother...Do you know anything about Emperor Ning's grandsons and great grandson?"

Prince Chun shook his head slightly as he said "No.I have heard that he married only one woman in his entire life and Late Empress Ning Xiaoli was his only daughter.He only has one granddaughter and his grandson, Li Jian, one of the infamous general of our triad is currently at the battlefield.I don't know what Emperor Ning is talking about."

Prince Yan nodded his head as he said "Okay..Let's wait and see."

Emperor Shang had the same thoughts as everyone.He was also curious about who these grandsons and great grandson were.But what can he do? He couldn't challenge Emperor Ning right? He sighed and ordered his people to bring the thrones quickly.

As for Concubine Shun, she just sat there quietly to not bring any focus towards herself.Inwardly, she was shrieking with fear and guilt.

She was not guilty because she killed Empress Ning.She was guilty because she killed the beloved daughter of Emperor Ning An.Though, she believed that he doesn't knows all this but still she couldn't bring herself to look into his eyes.

The thrones were arranged and Emperor Ning An held his granddaughter and walked her towards the  throne as he softly said "Walk slowly, Guo'er.You are my little granddaughter, what will I do if you twist your foot.You are so fragile, my little girl."

Everyone: "__" Emperor Ning, this little girl of yours was wreaking havoc in the royal court just before you arrived.

Prince Yan stifled a laugh as he blurted out "Fragile? For real? My sister broke nearly thirty men in the morning and now she was exercising her power in this royal court? What kind of fragile is that?"

She stared at him in disbelief but then flashing him her sweet smile she said "Yes you are mine."

Prince Vinetra was standing in his simple and serene courtyard when he heard a commotion outside his courtyard. Even if there was always never-ending darkness in front of his eyes, his ears were more sensitive than others. Just when he was about to call someone and ask, he heard someone opening the gates and then footsteps coming toward him.
"Good news brother, forefather and senior brother have finally returned. I even heard that senior brother had brought something for you. Let's go greet them. I'm sure he would be happy to see you."
He recognize that voice. He was his only friend and the closest person to him after his stepbrother. He was a son of a nobleman of the kingdom. They met each other and become brothers when they were studying under the royal teacher. 

But what's most important was his supreme intelligence and wisdom at his young age, both of them are comparable to the existences like forefather and royal teacher who had lived for more than a century.
They were about to leave when a soldier came in the courtyard and said, " Prince, Forefather has summoned you in the throne room. Please come."

In the innermost part of the Kashyapa Palace, there was a huge hall. The hall was brightened by hundreds of large polished-metal mirrors fixed on the walls and reflecting the sunlight inside the hall, there was also a huge majestic chandelier hanging in the middle of ceiling surrounded by some less huge chandeliers, illuminating the entire hall.
The massive tapestries made from golden silks hanging on the wall while gargoyles and carved images looking down the marble floor gave the hall a living look.
A magenta carpet runs from the massive hall door dividing the hall in two to the stairs of the platform upon which was an impressive grandiose Golden Throne and two less ornate thrones at both sides.
Below the platform on both sides of the carpet, there were some other golden thrones which compared to the ones on the platform are very less majestic and which were used by the ministers of the kingdom.
On the grandiose Golden Throne in the middle of the platform sat a white-bearded man and on one side on the other throne sat a young man gazing below at the young girl on the carpet surrounded by some maids now and beside her was a man looking at her with sorrowful eyes. They were Forefather Devarat, Crown Prince Shantanu and Princess Saubaleyi and her elder brother respectively.
When Prince Vinetra entered into the hall along with his friend, everyone except forefather and crown prince stood up and greeted him. After that when they settled down back, the Crown Prince stood up and rushed to his brother and hugged him gently and said, "Brother, you remember the girl who mocked you that day?"
On hearing his step brother mentioning that event, his excited face turned in a saddened one. He kept trying to forget that day that event, the mocking, the voices of that day but all of these were now glued to his memory like a nightmare like his never ending darkness. 

He was thinking of that day just before and feeling saddened when the news of his stepbrother return replaced that sadness with excitement and joy but when his stepbrother mentioned that day, he was again falling in the abyss of sadness.
Seeing the sadness on his brother's face he immediately said, "Brother don't worry, I went to the Shakya Kingdom and told that princess about your magnanimous self and everything about you so she felt she wronged you and came with me to apologize to you herself."
Shifting his eyes to the young girl he said, "What are you waiting for?"
Not a single sound came out her mouth instead the lips curved upwards and with a mocking smile on her face she looked at both of the princes seemingly saying 'you can never make me say that.'
Temperature in the hall increased, the princess was showered with murderous gazes. Face of the prince Shantanu reddened, eyes filled with fury and suppressing that fury inside he said slowly, "You're going to say that or not?"
"Hehe, I am never going to say that. I never regretted saying that, he is a blind unworthy of being called a prince, not even worthy of a dust particle in front of my brothers and even less worthy of being apologized by me," a mocking laughter along with these words come out from her.
Now burning with fury and shaking with angry he shouted in a low voice, "Either you apologize to my brother or I'll bring my army and make the whole Shakya Clan graveyard of your mistake, starting with this brother of yours."
"Heh.. what an Ancient Clan, nothing more than a bully, a shame. So, forefather, this is what the ancient clan are proud of, this is what the great Kashyapa Clan is proud of…
Heh… if you want to kill me sure, come kill me. If you want to kill my clan then go who's stopping an ancient clan bullying. I don't even care for that clan or that king who for protecting himself throw away his pride."
"Hahaha, fine… fine…" a mad laughter was heard, "bullying is it? Be it. I'll flatten that Clan, make your father regret for having a child like you, I'll kill every single man of that clan and make it's women wash my brother's feet with the blood of their husbands and children…hahaha."
Princess Saubaleyi had always heard that the crown prince of the Kashyapa Clan was always righteous and never accept atrocities on anyone. He was an idol of worshiping for many princess and prince even in other ancient clans. 

His prestige in the younger generation was just like the prestige of certain someone from Addi Clan in the older generation. So she had never expected for Prince Shantanu go crazy and laugh like a madman but after thinking a little she could understand that after all, she had also heard that the crown prince doted his brother and she had seen herself that he attacked her clan just for his brother.
Suddenly a tiny bright light flashed above the princess eyes, she shrieked.
"SHANTANU STOP," forefather shouted and stood up while the whole hall vibrated furiously.
A bright blinding light flashed before the eyes of Prince Subala and even before he could react and jump backward, that light reached his neck.

 I decided to slip off from my bed and walks out my room towards the kitchen. I am living on Erā just a little far away from the castle. I do not wished to live in the castle for the reason that I always seen the greed of the people inside of that hell. This world has never been perfect, it has no compare to the world outside. Everyone has their own greed, ambition, obsession and mostly dark secrets. 

"I still wonder how your life would be if you are married." My baby sister Almira speaks who is freely sitting on my chair with a fancy cup on her left hand while reading an old book from my shelves. 

"I wonder the same, sis." She's the youngest on the daughters and sons of King Elliot, my father. "Do you remember the girl that I told you?" she peek on me from the book that she's reading. "Her name is Adhiti," when she remembered, her eyes lightens and put down the book. 

"Yeah, the girl you said that is your soul mate?" I nod at her. 

"She's back. I found her. However, she's not safe."

"Then why did you left her?" she furrows at me and sipped on her cup. 

"I had thought if I make a wrong decision." I pour a coffee on my cup and sipped on it. "I missed her." I murmur looking at nowhere. When I looked at her, I found her grinning from ear to ear. 

"Then go to her." 

"It is just, I cannot go back outside the world. Everyone around there are in danger and from here, I need to make a move." 

"Damn you. You are such a fool." She goes back on her book and murmurs. "Why are men are all fool?" 

 I walk towards the open window and reach for the fruit of apple. I pull the fruit and take a bit on it. I studied my sister and I wonder what she's doing here. She should be on the castle for her class but she's here, reading on my dining table. 

"Early this morning, I had heard from the people that there's a human who had enter the portal from the outside world." She told that makes me stop from taking another bit. 

"Which direction?" 

"Pyr." She answer with a glanced on me. I hurried up taking my black cloak. "You should take a bath first. They won't kill her not until they had decided on the fifth day." 

 I did take her counsel on taking a bath in a hurry and wear my black clothes, boots, and put a handmade knife that nobody will recognize that it was from Erā inside my boots. Fifth day, they will burn her or worse cut her head off. I need to warn Flame. I just wished that he won't betray me. He need to protect her too. She's the light of the Pyr. 

 I use my black horse to go on Harbor to ride a ship on the way to the Pyr. I have to be there before the fifth day. I thought that it would be clear riding on the way to the Harbor but I got blocked because of the arrival of Princess Amanda, the Princess of all the Princesses. Her carriage stopped and I climb down my horse. The door opens and I immediately dropped one knee and stay my head down. 

"You must be in a hurry, Prince Nicholas." Her sweet voices makes me raise my head to look at her. 

"I am on my way to see a friend." I told her. She smiles sweetly and sign me to stand. She walks towards me and gently put her right hand on my left cheek. 

"Take care on your way. And please," she took my hand. "Please give this to your dear friend as a gift." I clench my fist on the cloth that she gave to me. It will keep her safe. And as long as it is with her she can find me. She spoke inside my head. I nod my head and put it on my pocket. 

 I am curious on how she knows that I am meeting and saving a human. There are lots of mystery about the Princess. But I remain on trusting her because she's like a mother to me. Even though my father had done bad things on the Princess that includes sexual harassment, she kept me by her side after the death of my mother when nobody wanted to love me as a son. 

"Go now, my Prince. You don't want to get late on your rendezvous." I nod my head and immediately ride on my horse. 

Adhiti
 A cold ground, is all I feel. I just wished that I was back on the forest laying down on the grass taking all the refreshing wind. It wasn't refreshing here, because all I smell is metal, oil gas, fire… I open my eyes and slowly sat up. I looked for something to lean on and I was closed to the wall. 

 I looked for my sword, and archer but even my bag is not with me. But good thing that I felt my phone on my pocket. But what does the phone do? It is still useless because there is no signal here. Footsteps, there's coming. The metal clings as a man appear in front of bars holding a torch. 

"Get ready poppet! You have an appointment with the King." He spoke so deep that it could drown me. 

"Oh, thank goodness." I stood and walk towards the bars. Two men came with cuffs and chains. "That's very unusual." I have to keep myself cocky before I burn them all. But today, I shouldn't show what I can do. Right? It would be a disaster because there are five kingdoms, one of them might cut my head off. It wouldn't be so nice. 

 Damn, these chains are heavy and these boulders are dragging me. Their legs are all long and I am too short in them. At least my height had level their underarms. I was lead on the extravagance hall. The floor is so clean and clear made of marble. Even the handle of the torches are made of some metal. 

 On the end, there's two big seats and at least five other seats on the left and right. Maybe thrones for Prince and Princesses. So, where's the King and others? I thought that I have an appointment. We had reach the front but a bit away from the shiny glamorous thrones. Then, there's the clicking of fabulous shoes. Geez, when did they came from? They all looked like Dracula. The man in red velvet cape who stood in front of the left throne in the middle which I guess is the King makes his servant pushed me down to kneel. But instead of kneeling, I sat my butt on the cold floor and folded my knees like Indian sit. There's no way in hell that I will kneel on some person. 

"I didn't told you to sit." He said. His children I guess which are younger and some are at my age or ahead of my age sat on their thrones. I just shrugged. The guards who is at my both sides was about to pull me up but the King sign them to just let me. 

"You see, dude. I don't kneel to anyone." I told him. 
"Sorry I'm late!" a familiar voice makes me stopped from being brave. "What's the occasion and why is there—" he stopped in front of me and checked me. I glare at him. "Oh," his eyes widens and lips in the shape of O. "Why is the beautiful lady in cuffs?" he turned to the King. 

"Flame, sit down!" the King orders. Flame winks at me which I don't know what the sign is about. He walk towards to the right where the boys are just right after the King's throne. 

"Speak your name." the King orders, I pull down my hood and sigh. I did not answer or even talk. There's a silence. I check every faces on his side and stopped on the little girl who smiled at me. I smiled a little and looked back at the King smirking. 

"I wanted to defend myself." I told him. 

"Your name?" 

"I am Catastrophe Canfield, a student from Mystical Academy." He sign me to go on. "From what crime am I charges to cuff and put into a cell?"

"Humans are prohibited in our Kingdom. That crime." The Prince next to Flame speaks. I looked directly at him which has a little looked alike from Flame. 

"Did I told you that you are also prohibited on our world, which Flame comes from the school and the other girl—" I acted like digging on my memories. "Leona who is the Headmistress of the Academy. I supposed that she's your daughter." The King's eyes was dilated probably surprised on my blurt tongue. 

"I really like you!" Flame winks that makes the Princes and Princesses frown at him. "However, we won't let you out this world alive." He cleared. 

"Asshole." I murmur. 

"Cursing to the Prince is also a crime." The oldest Princess speaks which is just in the left side of the King right after the empty throne. 

"But I am not part of your society so, I remain innocent." 

 They all get silent for a while, Flame is smirking probably amused on what I had said. The little smiled and clapped happily which everyone looked at. 

"Let her be my puppet!" Oh, that's really creepy Princess. 

"Matilda, she's a prisoner. You could get someone to be your puppet when we visit the town." The girl next to her which is the second youngest on the line told. 
"Sorry, dear. But you can't have her." The King told which makes the Princess pouted. "Do you care to explain why you have archer and a sword?" oh that, I missed those things. Wished that I could hold it before I die. When I just realized what they are. Sick. 

 These people are crazy and that includes Flame. I guess that his siblings are craziest. I breathed and feel just fine not even a single nervousness. Nick, where in hell are you?! You have to fucking save me or else, if I die I will really going to kill you in your dreams. 

"It's a present from a friend." I explained. "None of your concern." The King tilt his head. 

"Suggestions." He asked his sons.

"Why don't we do the traditional execution?" Flame suggested that makes my stomach flutters. Damn it! What is their traditional execution? 

"Let's burn her!" the girls chorus. That's their traditional execution? Damn it! I rather get burned dead than alive. I don't want to see my skin get burnt. The King raise his hand that make his children shut up. 

"Minister." The King called the man on the second step of the stage of thrones. I just noticed that the thrones has the sculptures of dragons. It was quite impressive because it is cool. "Send an execution letter on the Highest Kingdom and to all Kingdoms. Tell them that we caught a human." 

"That's absurd!" I complain. I am not going to die. Not now. "How could you execute someone that even don't understand your sickness!? What kind of people are you?"

"We are the highnesses of this Kingdom. And we can execute people we wished to die." The King told in terror. "Don't worry dear, you won't die today. In four days, your execution is held. In terms of simple torture, I wished to thirst you and hunger you." 

 I can't complain anymore. I glare at Flame as they pull me up that almost make my arms separated from my body. These scumbags! I will survive the death no matter what. I was thrown back on the cold cell again. Without my bag and my sword and archer. Damn it! But I should plan an escape. In four days, I will die if I did not escape on this Pyr hell. 

 I stood and walk around the small cell. There's a light coming out from small window that has bars. There's no way to escape from here. I sat back on the cold ground and lean my back on the concrete cold wall. There's another footsteps coming and a light of torch. I don't assume that it was someone to help me. 

 I glare at the silhouette of a lady in a long gown. She smiles at me and lifted my bag. I stood and walk towards her.

"Why do you have my bag?"

"I stole it there." She pointed the direction where she came from. She moved the fire to me that makes me moved back. "I had stories about you from Flame." 
"Stories like what?" 

"Like you came back from death." She grins. I sigh and rolled my eyes. "I'm Flavia, the third daughter of King Hadrian." She extend the bag to me and I still have to pull it hard from the bars. The yellow-headed girl smiles at me. Why is she keep smiling?

"You see, Flavia, I don't came back from death. Let's say, it was another person who died which is identically looks like me. But I don't came back from death."

"And that person?" why is she interested? I zip open my bag and pull out the tumbler. I drank from it. 
"Her name is Adhiti. The ex-girlfriend or the lover of Nicholas. He said that he was a Prince here, if you know him." 

"Everyone knows him. The handsome-bulky lovable man." She said in dreamy eyes. I frown at it. "He's very gracious man that I've ever known. Also he's good at everyone, mostly in pleasuring women." She winks at me. 

"I had heard." I nods. She still smiles at me. Seriously, this girl is sick. How old is she? "How old exactly are you?" I asked her. 

"I am older than you expect, Catastrophe. You see, we don't get easily old in this world. Oh, by the way. I love your name. Do you want me to refill your—" she looked at the tumbler that I am holding. I drank whole of it and gave it to her.

"It is called tumbler." She nods. She was about to stepped away but I speak. "Oh, if you saw Flame. Could you please tell him that I missed his kisses and if I could barrow an earphone?" 

"Earphone?" she thought of what it will be. "Oh!" Good girl. She had realized what kind of thing the earphone is. I lay down back on the cold floor and find something inside my bag. I am hungry and there's a sandwich left. I'm so sorry, Ruin. But I am really hungry and you are nowhere to be found. I take a bite on the sandwich and waited for Flavia. 

There are footsteps coming and there's Flame grinning from ear to ear. I wiped my lips and finished all my sandwich before standing and going to him. He raise his hand and wiggles his forefinger signing me to come to him. He lifted my big tumbler and the earphones. I decided to stood and walk towards him. I hold in the bars and tilt my head. 

I gasped when he wrapped his arms around me until I am all pressed on the cold bars. He moved his face closer to mine as he gapes ready to kiss me. I open my lips ready to kiss him back. But instead of kissing him, I grabbed the headphones and tumbler and pushed him. 

"Thank you very much Flame." 

"I thought you missed my kisses?" 

"I don't miss any single piece of you Flame." I check the headphones and glare at him. "You wanted me dead and it is enough to know that you are really like your half-sister. Good thing that Andrew break up with her. I hate her so much." 

 He hold his chest like he was hurt. He pouted and wiped the imaginary tear. 

"If I only get into your panties, you won't resist me. But Nick would kill me that's why I stayed away on making love to you. Also, he's the only truthful friend I have. Even though I had been harassing you many times, he only threaten me and told me to limit it." 

"If ever you saw Nick." I put down the headphones and the tumbler and walk towards him. I scoop his cheek and he gently hold it. I pull my hand back and clench it hard as it hit his face. He stepped back and hold the cheek I punched. "Pass him the message. At least I could give him that message before I die." He only smiles at me. What does he know that I don't? And why is he smiling like that? 

"You really don't know?" 

"Don't know what?" 

"Nick is getting married." He told. "But don't worry, I will pass your message." He walks out like it was nothing to me. 

 I heard shattering of glasses. Is it me who shatters? Nick, is getting married? I can't fucking believe that. My knees gets jelly and I falls down the ground. A warm sorrowful tears falls from my eyes. 

"Good thing that I will die."

It started when Catastrophe led to a mysterious castle after she partially escape from the people who wanted to kill her. Everyone thought that she was Adhiti, the girl who was missing for years without any trace. But she has Adhiti's opposite attitude on every way, how could she be Adhiti where her only face are alike? 
But Nicholas is very much certain that she was his Adhiti, the love of his life. How would he show her that he still love Adhiti?

There she walked. The ethereal glow of her white dress swayed with grace and presence. Between the gallows, down the aisle she seemed to float forward. A blinding white against blue, the woman approached a man and the officiant for her wedding. She had a look of saddness but smiled anyway. She was doing this for her people as a sign of unity. The man in front of her was powerful and if he kept her, she would bear a child who would both be blood of the Royal Empire and The Battula. This would end the constant warfare and cause an alliance. That was also the only reason why the Empire's Prince agreed to the union. The woman seemed to accept this fate of hers and the ceremony passed as her resolve hardened. The officiant announced the unity official as man and wife walked out to the Palace of Glass. There, the blonde and grey eyed woman would stay with her future children. There, she would raise the next heirs too both the thrones of The Empire of Froth and the Battula Supremacy. The handsome prince led her towards their bedchamber for the night, per tradition. He turned towards the woman once inside and said, "Princess, I hope you know I despise your every being. I only did this for my people, and I hope you realize that we will not produce any heirs together. I have concubines for that." 

The princess' face fell. "Your highness, I am aware of your feeling towards me but for the sake of the future of our respective domains please, I have to get pregnant. There is no need for feelings, just the goodwill for our empires." The prince snarled. His green eyes darkening. He walked over to the princess. 

"Watch it. I know why you are really here," he whispered in her ear. The princess shivered with the coldness surrounding her.

"I don't know what you mean. I am here for no ill intent," she defiantly looked into his green orbs. Looking for some kind of emotion but only received his disgust.

"You know exactly what your presence here really means. The Battula are trying to get their way into the royal family of Froth. Now you want to bear children with me? What are you planning? Are you going to use the child to overthrow me?" he questioned, growing ever closer to her face.

The princess reeled back, looking at him like he was an idiot, "If I may, I don't want to be here any more than you do. I am just looking for a way to end this constant fighting and death. It seems I am the only one here with the balls to throw my life away and everything I love to save my people. Honestly, man up. Ulterior motive? The Battula are losing, badly, they can't do anything against you in fear of extinction. What a joke. Not everything is here to hurt you, some of us want to save ourselves first." The prince widened his eyes, mouth agape. He had no words to the fire she spat at him. The docile looking woman showed strength in ways he could not. He saw her for the first time as a princess willing to do anything to save her people, even something as having relations with the enemy. In other words, he was captivated. As we backed off, he started taking off his cerimonial clothing, leaving him in his under clothes. 

He turned back and saw the princess do the same. He walked over to some wine and offered her a glass saying, "Lets get drunk before. I'd rather not remember this." She nodded graciously, hoping for that outcome. Neither one of them wanted to remember the night he took her. After lots of drinks, the night ascended upon them. They got undressed and continued into a dance of primal lust until the morning. That was almost the last time the prince ever saw the face of his legal wife and the night that he would regret for a long time. Until the day he had to do it all again. His father was insistent on a grandchild. But his child was a surprise on it's own.

The high class have everything. Power, wealth and beauty. They influence everything in this world of war. The poor fight for them, just for the chance to become them. The schools are based on the Lord's needs and cater to the empire's every whim. Will academies fall with rebellious raids or will a saviour redeem them to a state of glory? Where is the povershed's hero? They may just be in the ranks of the enemy...

The palace guards saw us coming towards them and immediately recognised my father as the grand duke. They saluted respectfully at us and opened the palace gates for us.

I looked at them and thought to myself. 'So cool!'

They were stoic and disciplined with a spear in their hands. They looked intimidating as well as very cool. The guards saw me staring at them which made them flash a smile at me.

Realising that I was caught staring at them, I hid my face in my father's chest. They found it even more adorable and smiled.

We entered the palace and saw a man standing at the side come towards us. It was a palace attendant sent here to wait for their arrival.

"Grand duke, you have come. Please follow me to the ceremony hall. The king and queen are waiting." He bowed respectfully and greeted. My father nodded at him and followed him.

We passed through many corridors and hallways that looked more majestic as I looked around and finally arrived in front of a grand golden door that was carved with two goddesses. There were guards at both sides of the door.

The palace attendant told the guards to open the door and announced in a loud voice.

"The Grand duke Schneider and his family have arrived!" The loud voice rang in the hall and the door opened slowly.

I gripped at my father's coat tightly, feeling a bit nervous.

"Let's go. Don't be scared." My father said in a placating tone. I nodded at him and smiled.

The ceremony hall was very spacious with rows of seats at the sides for the nobles arranged according to the ranks and there was a long red carpet at the middle from the door to the high place where the two thrones for the King and Queen was placed.

There was a statue of a goddess stretching out her two hands together behind the thrones that looked like it was real.

I looked around the crowd and felt my introverted alarm ringing inside my head which made me feel very nervous and scared. I have never been in such a grand occasion full of high ranked people before other than the ceremony where I was congratulated by the university for graduating with top grades.

I tightened my hold on my father's shoulders and my body trembled slightly. My father seemed to have felt my nervousness and the trembles so he patted my back lightly and whispered in a warm voice.

"Don't be scared. I am here. No one will do anything to you. I won't let them do anything to you." His warm and caring voice and the warmth from his hands miraculously calmed my nerves and the fear seeped out of my body. I felt like he was the only one with me in this big hall.

'Yes, why was I still so scared? Before, I was alone with no one to lean on so I was scared of socialising. But now, it was different. I wasn't alone anymore. I had a family too. I had a caring father, loving mother and a doting big brother. I wasn't only 'I' now. So I don't have to be scared anymore.'

I inhaled some air to refreshen myself and calmed down. I smiled at him brightly and said in a low voice.

" I have you here. I am not scared anymore." This smile must be the brightest smile in my whole life which was full of warmth. My father, mother and brother held me and went towards the centre with a smile on their faces.

My father then put me down on the ground carefully and kneeled down with one knee on the ground and his right arm on his left chest as he bowed deeply. My brother also followed him while my mother lifted her long dress and bowed deeply in a grand form of greeting the King and the Queen. I also followed along ny mother and bowed deeply with my skirt lifted.

The crowd looked at me in surprise at my gesture. The king also looked at me with twinkling eyes. A warm smile forming on his lips. He exchanged a look with the Queen and smiled even more when he looked at my father who was kneeling down.

"You may forego the formality. This is a happy occasion of my niece turning a year old today so you don't have to be so formal. Quick, tell me what ny niece's name is." The King said with a smile on his face.

I was shocked to hear what he just said and looked at him incredulously.

'Niece?!' I shouted in shock inside my head.

The others didn't seem as shocked as I was but some nobles still whispered among themselves.

My father rose up from the ground and replied respectfully. 
"Thank you, your majesty. My daughter's name is Charlotte Schneider."

"Charlotte, a good name. This name suits her very much." The King nodded happily and praised.

"Charlotte, my dear niece. Come to your King uncle." The King then called out to me suddenly with a warm smile on his face. I looked at him and at my father in confusion. My father nodded at me slightly with a smile, telling me it was okay. So I went up the short stair and stood infront of the King.

" U-uncle?" I called out childishly. But it was more of a confused questioning than a greeting.

The King then suddenly held me up and put me on his lap which made me blank out. Some nobles in the crowd also couldn't help but gasp when they saw such a great favour shown by the king to me.

The queen also turned towards me with a smile and said.

"Charlotte, what about me? Won't you call me aunty too?" She spoke up in a gentle and sweet voice. I looked at her and saw that she was about the same age as my mother and looked very beautiful. Of course, not as beautiful as my mother.

While the king also looked about the same age as my father and was handsome. But these majestic figures looked more like doting parents to me when they looked at me with such warm and loving eyes.

I looked at the queen and called out. "Aunty."

She then smiled more warmly and took my small hands on hers and carressed it gently.

"My dear niece, can you tell your uncle when you learnt to greet?" The king suddenly asked curiously. I looked at him as I tilted my head and answered without a care.

"Just now." My voice was childish and crisp.

"Just now? How?" The king was shocked and asked again, his eyes sparkling brightly.

"Copied mother." I answered again. Feeling puzzled.

"Good. Very good. Sebas! You have got a very good daughter! She is so smart and calm at such a small age! She is so much like you when you were small. I like her very much already." The king, in his happiness called out to my father with his nickname without noticing and laughed happily as he praised me.

" You flatter me, your majesty. My daughter is just bright as a baby." My father replied with a smile.

" Her two eyes with the colour of the two elements of fire and water shine brightly. She has a great future ahead and will definitely be a great figure. Today, I grant her the most honorable blessing of having the same middle name as the royal family as well as the title of a first ranked princess! Her name shall from now on be Charlotte De Eleanor Schneider!" The King announced his decree in a deep voice which was loud enough for everyone to hear it clearly.

The hall fell silent right after his voice fell then suddenly a series of applause rang out in the hall. The nobles congratulated my father and said the king was kind and noble. Of course, I knew that although they looked like they were very happy, who knew who was really genuine and who was flattering.

My father knelt again and thanked the king with my mother and brother following along. 
"Thank you, your majesty for your grace."

Seeing that my family were thanking the king, I felt that I should also thank him. After all, it was indeed a great thing to be titled as a first ranked princess.

I got up from the King's lap and bowed like my mother and said. 
" Thank you, King uncle."

The King looked at me even more fondly and smiled. 
"You don't have to thank me. You may rise."

My father smiled at the king when they looked at each other and I was pulled by the queen gently.

"My dear niece, here, this is my present for you. But there are still more for your birthday gift. I will give them to you personally in the banquet in the evening." The queen took out a beautiful bracelet from her hand which looked very exquisite. It was inlaid with top quality gems and was blue in colour. She then placed it on top of my palm with a warm smile.

" Thank you, Queen aunt!" I said with a smile. I could at least tell that she was genuinely kind and caring to me.

"Just call me aunty. You should come to the palace more often to visit me when you are free, okay?" She said.

"I will." I smiled and said in a childish voice.

The ceremony ended successfully as the King and Queen left the hall first and the nobles greeted and congratulated my father as well as asked about me and said some praises.

We finally left the palace after a while and got inside the carriage.

"Mother, how is the king my uncle?" I asked curiously.

"The king and your father are best friends and sworn brothers since kids and he trusts and treats him more than a full blooded brother. So he is your king uncle." My mother explained with a smile.

Sworn brothers?! Why didn't the game say anything about this? The game only said that the grand duke Schneider was the most trusted man of the King. Nothing else was said other than that.

And about the matter of me getting titled as a princess also didn't happen in the game. How did it come to this?

"But why did he make me a princess?" I asked in confusion.

"It's because my dear Lottey is so smart and cute that the king already loves you so much. The King and Queen don't have any daughter and they treat us the same as their own family so they must think of you as their own daughter. So they titled you as a princess." My mother said with a hint of pride when she looked at me with a warm smile.

" That guy is still so childish. He even forgot that he was a king because of happiness. Sigh." My father sighed helplessly but there was a smile on his face.

" Cherry, you are a princess now! Are you happy? Hehe. My sister is a princess now!" Jeref smiled cheerfully and said. It looked like he was the one who became a princess instead of me from his happy face.

I smiled slightly and looked out of the window. Whatever it is, as long as my family is with me, I will be fine. I will become the daughter they are proud of and make sure nothing happens to them.

I thought about the ending of the real Charlotte and the fall of the duke house after that and my heart clenched tightly.

I will make sure to become stronger and protect my family from anyone who dares to try to harm them.

I swore to myself with determination. The ceremony ended with me gaining more confidence in myself and me becoming a princess with a long name.

Charlotte Grace was a quiet girl who was quick witted and smart but didn't know how to express her feelings properly since she didn't interact with people much. 

Her parents died when she was only 4 years old, leaving her with herself to look out for in an orphanage.

 She was knowledgeable through books but she didn't put them into use because she didn't have any other dream but to just read novels, watch anime, play games and read more books.

She was an introverted anti-social otaku.

And as soon as Konrad appeared, colossal chthonian energies erupted from the Three Thrones, and they vanished to reappear before him.

 "Greetings, Transcendent Sir."

 Three hoarse voices echoed from the Thrones to ring in Konrad's ears. Only Death Transcendent individuals could step into this world. Therefore, the three immediately recognized Konrad.

 "Guardians, why do you stand in my way?"

 Konrad inquired with a simple smile and his inscrutable eyes staring right at the Thrones.

 "We merely wish to enlighten you on the rules. This is the first time the Three Realms see a cultivator opening the gate to the Underworld. Therefore, there are things we must clarify."

 The Guardians began while Konrad folded his arms beneath his chest. With his Nascent Infiniteness Insight, he naturally knew what the Guardians referred to. But since he intended to break them, he acted clueless.

 "Oh? Be my guest."

 Konrad replied, and without delay, the Guardians pursued.

 "To avoid disturbing the multiverse's reincarnation cycle, you can only take a maximum of ten million souls every one thousand years. Not a single more is permitted."

 The Guardians straightforwardly explained. But the echo of their words only made Konrad's smile broader.

 "That is insufficient. What if I insist on taking more?"

 Konrad followed without losing his casual tone. For three seconds, the Guardians gave no reply. Although this was but a brief silence, it gave a clear hint to the incoming reply.

 "Then, we can only return you whence you came."

 The three replied in tandem, and instantaneously, their throne form changed to become that of scythe-wielding middle-aged men dressed in long grey gowns around which chthonian energies swirled. With a glance, Konrad could see that those three creatures all reached Death Embodiment and Nether Wielding. And while for Underworld Guardian this seemed intuitively accurate, in Konrad's eyes, it reeked foolishness.

 Anyone able to step into this world at the very least achieved Death Transcendence. So, what if those Guardians possessed Legendary God cultivation bases? Before a Death Transcendent expert, Death Embodiments were no different from cannon fodders. 
 As far as Konrad was concerned, Life Embodiments were a far more reasonable choice.

 But what he forgot to consider was that the Underworld only allowed the existence of chthonian beings. Others couldn't even dream of enjoying its darkness for one breath of time. The Guardians' primary task was to regulate the underworld. Naturally, they couldn't do without such equipment.

 Not wasting time with rubbish, Konrad raised his right hand, causing the Death Laws of the guardians to spiral out of control. But at that time, from within the Three Realms, Heaven, Hell, and the Mortal Realm's Will kicked into gear, lending their strength from the distance to help the Guardians resist Konrad's control.

 Golden, white, and dark light respectively swirled around the Mortal, Celestial and Infernal Underworld Guardians while their superiors assisted them in challenging Konrad's Death Transcendence.

 Alas, it was all to no avail.

 "Innate Skill: Auspicious Clouds."

 Konrad uttered, and around his body, dozens of rainbow-colored clouds appeared, swirling with ordered spins while golden light erupted from his form. If the average pureblooded Empyrean Dragon's Auspicious Clouds could invalidate the cultivation and laws of all beneath Law Wielding, Dragon Warden's Auspicious Clouds were several steps above.

 Before him, even Law Wielders weren't spared! Or rather, Base Laws became invalid while Higher Laws' might fell by seventy percent! In the Empyrean Realm's history, only Celestial Slaughter's Auspicious Clouds possessed more dreadful abilities.

 But as far as Konrad was concerned, that was more than enough. The Auspicious clouds soared high into this realm of darkness, illuminating it with dazzling rainbow light while the three Guardians quivered under their empyrean might!

 Using Auspicious Clouds' Domain Isolating ability, Konrad cut all support the three received from the Realm Wills, thereby wholly leaving them at his mercy. Their Nether Laws lost seventy percent of might while their Death Laws changed ownership, becoming Konrad's to do with as he saw fit!

 "Allow me to be blunt. I will destroy the Underworld Gate and bring the entirety of the Underworld into the Mortal Realm to feed my wife's ascension. And if the Realm Will is dissatisfied, then I don't mind using the Underworld to submerge the Mortal Realm in its entirety!

 As for you, you can remain as my Jade Dynasty's Eternal Protectors."

 Konrad proclaimed before lowering his hand and causing the three guardians' last bit of freedom to collapse under his pressure.

 "You…are stark-raving-mad! The entirety of the reincarnation cycle, the fate of trillions…no, zillions will fall into chaos because of you! Death and Life intertwine, souls do not return, are you trying to make the Three Realms bereft of future?!"

 The three guardians roared in a thundering mixture of helplessness and indignation. But still, Konrad's will remained staunch and inflexible.

 "To say nothing of my Profane Princess, before the wellbeing of any of my women the Three Realms' safety…is wholly irrelevant. But don't worry, whatever I break today, in the future, I will fix…if it so pleases me.

 At worst, undeath rules all realms throughout eternity. How bad can it be?"

 Konrad retorted with stark indifference. The Guardians' conversion reached its final stage, and they all dropped on their knees, unable to muster the tiniest bit of struggle. 

 "Mad…you're completely mad and will destroy the Three R-…"

 Those words would never reach their end as the Guardians lost their last sliver of consciousness under Konrad's rewiring. For a moment, they lied there with glazed eyes. But in a flash, "light" returned to those eyes, and still kneeling, they stretched out their hands to bow before their new master!

 "Greetings, Master!"

 The three proclaimed in tandem and hearing this Konrad nodded in approval, then waved his hand in a horizontal sweep. In that one move, he shattered all exit doors toward the Higher Realms, making their souls able to enter but not return. 

 With that same move, he opened the Underworld's Gate wide, causing legions of souls and the yellow rivers to flood the Ancient Crystal World! In that instant where Konrad seized the position of Underworld Ruler, the Underworld dived into the Ancient Crystal World to become a single entity!

 Henceforth, the dead and the living would remain side by side!

 But Konrad cared very little for any of these. With his unrivaled mastery of Death, absolute control of the world and new Life Wielding, Konrad changed the boundless seas of chthonian forces into life seas that swathed the World Tree to feed and fuel Yvonne's transformation!

 And as she devoured it all, Yvonne's understanding of Life Laws shot through the sky! In a step, she reached Life Wielding! With another step, she subverted the remainders of the World Tree, seized its Pseudo Life Embodiment and used it as the foundation to rise to Life Embodiment!

 Now, as Death filled the Ancient Crystal World, and the sky of daytime turned pitch-black, hiding even the clouds, the Hidden Forest became a haven of life and peace where exotic flowers bloomed and trees rose, one after the other!

 Verdant prairies filled the land, and the World Tree returned to its initial emerald green!

 The Withering thus ended, and as emerald light overflowed from the Hidden Forest, a shocking phenomenon occurred. The sky-piercing World Tree morphed, shrinking from one hundred to ten kilometers while the contours of a serpentine light shape appeared around it. 

 That shape solidified, congealing in a ten kilometers long emerald serpent that coiled around the Tree. And though they appeared like two separate forms, they were one and the same!

 Building on this unthinkable chance, Yvonne reached Life Embodiment, and used her new abilities to make her Hekeret demonic blood evolve into a brand new one:

 The World Serpent blood. A new lineage of which she would be the Primogen!


Government intelligence agencies realized that Konrad, the world’s number one wife robber, was endowed with a supreme weapon allowing him to turn the purest of maidens into hungry beasts: The Golden Rod!

He howled as he aimed a gun at the golden rod. But suddenly, the sky darkened, and purple lightning struck him from above.

“Fool! This is a national treasure! Who gave you the right to harm it?”

The Happiness God roared in indignation while sending Konrad into reincarnation. 

“This time put the treasure to better use. Complete all the quests, and I might even let you enjoy the sweet fruits of paradise!”

“God, I won’t disappoint you!”

The envoy from Sertulia Kingdom just arrive in Orlandria. The nervousness and the tension can be sense within the throne room. My eight brothers to the left of the throne, my sisters and I to the right. A tall stick like man with a scroll his thin bony hands stands before Royal Father and begin reading out an invitation.

Man "May the Great King live a thousand years." He bow down with elegance and respect.

King Xing "No need for formalities."
Royal Father waves his sleeves gently to indicate to the messenger to continue with his announcement.

Man "The Emperor Wang of Sertulia extends his invitation to any two Princesses of Orlandria of His Majesty King Xing's choosing. Emperor Wang would be highly grateful if His Majesty King Xing would accept this invitation on behalf of Crown Prince Longwei's marriage to one if not both Princesses."

As soon as the stick man have read out the request Royal Father's face frown slightly as he begin to think about the proposal. 

King Xing "This King will accept the invitation and as for the two Princesses to attend..." Royal Father glaze with a loving smile on his face, to his five daughters that are present in the throne room. Before grinning meaningfully "Third Rank Princess the Second Princess Xing Minyuan and..." Royal Father once again stops and look slightly conflicted.

Queen Wei Yi "Your Majesty? Is there someone else you have in mind other than Second Rank Princess, the First Princess Xing Ya Zhen?"

King Xing "Queen, this King feels very conflicted. However, I will decide after discussing this to LiLi. Come my child." Royal Father extends his hand to the me that is siliently observing the surrounding. With my eyes opened wide, I dumbfoundedly follow Royal Father as he leads us to the Lotus Garden.

---20 minutes later---

Limei "Royal Father, LiLi...doesn't know if that's possible. Royal Father knowns that LiLi is not as beautiful and talented as LiLi's other sisters. How will LiLi survive?" I sadly reply to Royal Father's request.

King Xing "LiLi. Father knows he's asking alot from my precious LiLi. You know that you are the most powerful person in this Kingdom, second only to this old man. However, once I past, my Spiritual Beasts will be yours. You're the only person Grandfather King and Father can trust to sit on the throne one day. Father beg of you to follow Father's request. Protect him. He is special and is destined to be a great ruler and unite our Kingdoms. He needs you by his side. You are destined to be his strength and alliance. You are destined to be Queen. Remember my child, Father will never let anything happen to Father's most favoured daughter. You are Father's pride, joy, happiness, sadness, pain and precious daughter. You are Father's love and heart. Anyone who doesn't know will suffer under Father's power. So what does my child say?" Royal Father reason with me while holding my head to his warm chest.

Limei "If Royal Father really insists, LiLi will do as Royal Father have requested. LiLi loves Royal Father too much to refuse." I bury my he deeper into his embrace. For a mere 16 years old girl going far from home sets a sequence of fear and suspicion in my heart. We walk back to the throne room where Royal Father seat himself back on the throne and myself to his left. 

King Xing "This King have decided. The envoy will carefully and safely deliver Third Rank Princess the Second Princess Minyuan Xing and...First Rank Princess the Fifth Princess Xing Limei to Sertulia. Let this King warn you and your soldiers, if one scratch comes to harm to my LiLi, this King will not hold back his anger." Royal Father threatens the poor man who is without a doubt trembling in fear before the almighty King Xing. I look at the poor man with pity, oblivious to the glares aiming at me.

With the invitation accepted we begin to make preparations for the weeks we will travel to Sertulia. It would take 2 weeks to arrive at Sertulia Palace. Second Sister left Orlandria immediately, travelling 3 months ahead of myself. I couldn't bear to leave Royal Father and Mother as they stand beside the carriage. 

Limei "Royal Father, please do not worry about LiLi. LiLi will be safe and LiLi hopes to come visit Royal Father and Mother soon." I sob as those words travel through my mouth.

King Xing "My precious girl. Father will miss you most. Stay safe and Father and Mother will wait for your return." Father King and Mother both hug me before I carefully step inside the carriage. I sit silently as the carriage begins to journey to Sertulia. I cannot describe the feelings welling up inside my heart. My personal maids Ya Ling and Shu Ting quietly comfort me. I do not wish to part but I have a mission to fulfil.

---2 weeks later---

I have just pass through the golden gates of Sertulia Palace. As soon as the carriage stops the palace maids whisk me to greet the Emperor Wang and his Empress. With Ya Ling and Shu Ting in tow. 

I bow deeply in front of His Majesty Emperor Wang and Her Majesty Empress Ai Wang. 

Limei "May the Emperor and Empress live a thousand years." 

Feeling fear once again in my heart. What if they didn't want me here? What if I'm not who they're looking for? What if they wanted my other sisters? My breathing becomes shorter and shorter at the thoughts. 
"Remember my child, Father will never let anything happen to my most favoured daughter. You are Father's pride, joy, happiness, sadness, pain and precious daughter. You are Father's love and heart."
My Father's words reminds me of my mission. 
It's alright LiLi. It's alright. I chant to myself before the soft voice of the Empress breaks my concentration.

Empress Ai Wang "My, my such a beautiful, beautiful flower indeed. Such vibrant blue eyes and graceful demeanor. Don't you agree, dear?" I lower my head lower in embarrassment as the Empress laugh heartedly.

Emperor Wang "You are indeed correct my Empress. The rumours do not live up to your beauty. That old Taiolong is very lucky to have such a lovely Princess." The Emperor reply, watching me with adoration. 

Empress Ai Wang "Should you not bestow her a title Your Majesty?" My body stiffen as the words left the Empress' mouth. To be bestow a title is not only a great honour, but also a guanrantee that one would be wed to someone in this Kingdom of high status.

Limei "Please pardon this Princess' rudeness, however may this Princess speak, Your Majesties?" I bashfully requests.

Emperor Wang "Of course my precious child. Speak your mind and please lift up your head." The Emperor requests as I smile.

Limei "This Princess does not think she deserves a title as of yet. This Princess comes with no achievements or accomplishments to be bestow a title. This Princess fear that others will not take it too well." I explain my fears and before I can register what have happen, the Emperor laughs.

Emperor Wang "Silly child. Your achievements have reached even my small Sertulia Kingdom. Must you be reminded of your deeds." They Emperor tease casually.

Limei "This Princess is already this embarrassed. Must His Majesty tease this Princess so?" I ask with a small blush.

Empress Ai Wang "Such a lovely smile and response. Great accomplishments and an excellent strategist in war. This Empress believes that would at least earn you a title." The Empress again laughs and my already red face burns brighter.

Emperor Wang "This Emperor also agrees with His Empress. Officials and people in this room, hear this Emperor's decree. By the power of this Emperor, I bestow First Rank Princess the Fifth Princess Limei Xing of Orlandria as First Rank Princess of Sertulia, newly name, Princess YuYu." My eyes widen, not only am I titled but also the First Rank Princess. The gasps from the Emperor's daughter is as loud as a thunder storm. None of His Majesty's daughters have been bestow the title of First Rank Princess.

Limei "This Princess thanks His Majesty and Her Majesty for the kind gestures. This Princess is also extremely grateful for the title. However, may this be kept a secret until this Princess is confident enough to live up to your praise?" I once again now deeply in gratitude. The Emperor, Empress and people in the thrones room nods with understanding.

Emperor Wang "It's only a matter of time even if this Emperor did not bestow you a title now, you would have been bestow a title soon. Go on. You must take your leave to the main garden for the Crown Prince is selecting his wives." I bow one last time before Ya Ling and Shu Ting leads me to the main garden.
Since I'm already bestowed a title I cannot escape the reality. I will be wed with a man in Sertulia. Whether I like it or not.

Following the nuptial benediction was the Coronation Ceremony.
Additional chairs had been set in the throne room to seat the dignitaries and guests after the seats where the Sama family was sitting alongside the queen mother and facing the ten high-ranking members of the High Council. 
All the royals had donned their leopard-skin cloaks and respective crowns while the members of the High Council were proudly wearing their antelope skin sashes.
"His Highness, Crown Prince Angel and his royal consort, Princess Kat!"
Angel led Kat along the red carpet until they reached the bottom of the throne stage. They curtseyed to the king and queen, then Angel left Kat's side to gain his throne. 
George Chang stepped on the first level and made the introductory ceremonial speech before opening up a scroll from which he started to read out loud the rights and duties that befell the Crown Princess of Ruund.
"Princess Kat, do you agree to everything that is stipulated in this royal decree on what will be your rights and your duties as the Crown Princess of Ruund?" The king solemnly queried once the royal secretary had finished his reading.
In a blink, Kat's eyes slid towards Angel who was looking at her with a proud smile, then went back to the king.
"I do."
"Do you understand that you will be held accountable to the Throne and to the uRuund people in accordance with everything stipulated in this royal decree?"
"I do."
The king smiled then signalled the royal secretary to proceed.
"Princess Kat will now repeat after me: I, Kat Yav…"
"I, Kat Yav…" 
"Royal Consort of Ruund…"
"Royal Consort of Ruund…"
"Oath before God…"
"Oath before God…"
"And before my king and my queen…"
"And before my king and my queen…"
"To serve the Throne of Ruund and its people…"

From where she was standing, Charlotte looked at her daughter solemnly making the Royal Pledge with tear-filled eyes. She was feeling truly overwhelmed at the sight her little princess who had now grown up to become the crown princess of Ruund. In nostalgia, she started to recall all the endearing moments she had shared with her daughter from the moment she was born. And though she was genuinely happy to be giving her away to her marital home, letting go was proving to be much harder than she had thought.
After the pledge, one royal officer placed a footstool in front of Kat while another one brought a tiara bearing the carvings of the Rukan resting on a leopard printed velvet cushion to the royal secretary. George Chang took the cushion from the officer and presented the tiara to Pastor Elisha who held it up and declared a blessing over it.
The crowned royals then stood up and stepped down from their thrones while Kat kneeled on the footstool. The king took the tiara from the minister's hands while Angel took a leopard-skin cloak brought by a third royal officer. Together with his mother, they passed the cloak on Kat's shoulders, and the queen pinned it on the front with a golden brooch bearing the royal emblem. 
The king then came to stand before her, holding up the tiara. And as he slowly lowered the crown towards her head, he solemnly declared: "I, Mwant Yav Angel the Second, king of Ruund… before God, the Throne and the uRuund people, crown you, Kat Yav… Crown Princess of the Ruund Kingdom!"
Angel helped Kat up, and she curtseyed before the king, then the queen, and finally her husband. The latter took her hand and walked her up to the throne next to his while the king and queen also regained their respective thrones. They then all turned towards the assembly that stood up, curtseyed then applauded and cheered when the royal secretary proclaimed: "People of Ruund, your crown princess!"
"You did great," Angel whispered in her ear after everyone sat back down.
Royal dancers and chanters presented a celebratory performance in the honour of the new crown princess before time was given for the guests to bring their gifts to the newly married couple. After that, in a ceremonial procession, the king and queen walked out of the Throne Room, followed by the newlyweds, the queen mother, the Sama family, the high-counsellors and finally the assembly. The procession progressed to the entrance of the Central Palace where the princely carriage at which were harnessed Tornado and Alizés was ready to take the princely couple on a tour of Musumb to greet the populace.

"His Highness, Crown prince Angel, and Her Highness, Crown Princess Kat!"
The Chimangat's loud announcement caused everyone in the ballroom to look towards the entrance as Angel and Kat made their entrance.
After the long tour of Musumb that they had spent waving at the cheerful crowd of uRuund citizens that had come from every part of the kingdom, standing along all the streets marked on the itinerary of the princely carriage that was published on the day before, Angel and Kat had gotten about an hour to rest and change before joining the reception in the ballroom.
Kat had already come to understand why Francis had called his birthday celebration a low key event after attending Angel's. But if the crown prince's 25th Birthday Celebration had been able to give the young woman an experience of a proper royal event, their wedding reception seemed to present her with an even greater one. The turquoise and cream theme she had chosen had been perfectly harmonised in the overall decoration of the ballroom. Table cloths, napkins, ribbons, flowers, centrepieces, cake… Even the outfits of the servants and the orchestra were aligned to the theme. The decorator had even succeeded in enhancing the beauty of the already astounding interior design of ballroom through her work.
On top of that, the wedding reception had a white-tie dress code; so everyone had changed to the finest and most sophisticated – and not to forget expensive – outfits she had ever seen, giving to the whole reception an even more glamorous outlook. Kat herself had changed to a cream ball gown with a Queen Anne neckline while Angel had passed on a full white-tie outfit with only a turquoise lapel flower pinned to his black tailcoat as complementary accessory.
The couple progressed in the aisle left between the tables while guests stood up and curtseyed at their passing, and reached the main table where they curtseyed before the royal elders. There, Kat realised with delight that her family had been placed at the main table with the royal family for the occasion.
Per wedding reception custom, the festivities started with the newlyweds' first dance. Given that every step of the princely wedding day was aired live on the broadcast channels that had been granted coverage of the whole event, the entire kingdom together with the guests in the ballroom were able to perceive the intensity with which Angel and Kat looked at each other as they swayed to the rhythm of the waltz played by the orchestra.
The father-daughter dance followed right after that, then the dance floor was finally opened to the rest of the guests while the servants started to cater the different courses of meals.
"How could you prefer our birthday tradition over this?" Michael asked his sister when the food had been brought to them.
Kat smiled at her brother's remark. Seeing how Michael had been very much dazzled when he had attended Angel's birthday celebration, she had expected him to raise that argument.
"You might have a different opinion, but I will always prefer a fun time with my family over any party – no matter how prestigious – with people I hardly know. No matter how dazzling this all is, it would still feel a bit dull to me if you guys were not here."
"I'm with Kat on that," Joseph added. "Even if my Rose and our soon to be born son are now a top priority in my life, I don't think I will fully enjoy all the big moments of our life if I cannot share them with my family."
Michael nodded. "I have to admit that you are both right about that." He conceded.
"The attachment you have for each other is really praiseworthy," Isabella commented on the youngsters' exchange. "I hope you will develop the same kind of attachment towards the royal family now that you are one of us, Kat. In fact, I think that it's really a good thing that your family is relocating to Ruund; both our families will thus have more opportunities to interact with each other, and maybe our family will be able to learn from yours on how to reinforce our bonds."
"Say what?" Kat let out in astonishment. "You are all relocating here?"
"You did not tell her?" Isabella asked at the address of Charlotte.
"We wanted to surprise her with that… so we were waiting for the best moment to tell her." Charlotte explained to the queen mother.
"Oh! It seems like I've ruined the surprise." Isabella said apologetically. "Sorry about that."
"It's okay," Charlotte replied. "The king and queen arranged for it." She then told her daughter.
"Actually, we just went along with our son's suggestion." King Angel II explained.
Kat looked at her husband. "It was your idea?"
Angel smiled. "Over the time I've spent with your family when I visited you in Likasi, I came to realise how attached you all are to each other, and also how sad you've been feeling at the idea of having to live far away from your family. So I thought of a way to bring your family closer. Thankfully, they all agreed to it. Being the family of the crown princess normally elevates them to the social rank of nobility, so they will all be living in the upscale neighbourhood of Musumb closest to the Royal Estate."
Kat was truly overwhelmed. Looking into Angel's eyes, she was reminded of the promise he had made to her on the balcony of her West Wing bedroom after he had professed his love for her.
~ It might be very difficult for me to tell you this as much as I should; but I will always find a way to show that to you… ~
"I really don't know what to say… Thank you."
"I'm already enrolled in Musumb Institute of Technology," Michael announced.
"I'm starting a private practice in Musumb, and I'm also officially taking over the position of Royal Family Physician as the current one is retiring," Joseph added.
"And I will be the curator of the soon to be inaugurated Throne History section of the Rusangu Retu Museum where artefacts like those displayed in the Heritage Hall will be exhibited." Charlotte finished.
"Wow!" Kat let out before leaning towards Angel. "I know that the curator of the Congolese History section at the museum will be very happy to hear the news." She said loud enough to be heard of her mother.
Angel chuckled and nodded while Charlotte looked at her daughter with a slight frown.

Kat emerged from the bathroom and was immediately welcomed by a soft melody played on the piano. She walked to the study and leaned against the doorframe while Angel switched to deeper notes as soon as he locked eyes with her. Kat closed her eyes and let the melody tunnel its way to her heart. She then reopened her eyes and looked at her violin lying on top of the piano. An accompaniment to Angel new creation was already forming in her mind, but she had to refrain herself. Right now, she just needed to listen to what her husband had to say to her.
The melody was at first soft and gentle then passionate and ablaze as it reached its peak; all of it an expression of the emotions she had been able to see in his eyes since the moment he had professed his love to her. Yes… those were indeed his unspoken feelings expressed through musical notes. And that particular way of expression of his was stirring up in her the urge to express the feelings she herself was sometimes too bashful to utter or show.
Angel's eyes stayed on his wife until he reached the end of his composition, and did not detach from her when he left his seat, came to stand before her, and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"This is how I've been feeling since the moment you accepted my proposal." He said tenderly. "And just like the notes of this melody take a deeper tone as it goes on, so do my feelings for you grow deeper by the passing days…"
Hands placed on his chest, Kat could perceive Angel's heart thumping really hard as he spoke. She slowly lifted her heels and placed a kiss on his lips. "I love you…" She let out shyly. "Thank you for expressing your feelings in such a beautiful way. It gives me the strength to express mine…"
While one of Angel's arms stayed her waist, the other went up to hold her neck as he captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Kat first froze at his sudden move then clenched her fingers on his shirt as she kissed him back. When his fingers slid from her neck up to the mass of her curly hair, Angel let out a sigh of satisfaction and his ardour doubled at the fulfilment of a craving that had gone unsatisfied for way too long. That contact was able kindled Kat's courage to slide her hands higher and venture her fingers in her husband's wavy locks, but when Angel's other hand left her waist to reach for the belt of her robe, Kat's entire body brusquely stiffened. Sensing his wife's reticence, Angel momentarily interrupted his kiss and held her chin up to make her meet his eyes. 
As the day of her wedding had drawn closer, Kat's excitement at the idea of becoming Angel's wife had been increasingly battled by her apprehension of their first night.  She had set her mind on abstinence for so long that the thought that she would have to bring down all the mental barriers she had held up so far, mixed with the thought that she would be treading on uncharted ground, had gradually filled her with a dread that was now dampening her passion. But as she looked into her husband's brown eyes, she felt her dread starting to dissipate. Words needed not to be uttered; just the love that she was reading in his eyes at that moment was enough to insufflate courage in her. 
Strong of that, Angel slowly brought his hands down, undid the belt and pushed the robe off her shoulders. Without breaking their eyes connection, he gently slid his hands along her arms then took her in his arms and carried her to the bed where he delicately laid her before retaking possession of her lips with an ardour that finished to rekindle her own passion.

Kat slowly emerged from her sleep, and a blissful smile immediately traced on her lips when the memories of the previous night started to flood her mind.
She closed back her eyes, turned on herself and stretched her arm to search the other side of the bed. Her eyebrows creased when she noticed that it was empty, and she blinked her eyes open to scan the room. Her eyes soon landed on the three handmaidens battling to keep a straight face and she quickly sat up, holding up the sheet to cover her naked body. 
"Jane…?"
The maids had come early in the morning to prepare the ceremonial bath and found Angel already awake. He had stayed in bed looking at Kat sleeping until the maids had finished their task in the bathroom, then instructed them to wait until she would wake up as he headed for the bathroom to prepare himself. Kat had actually woken up right when the maids had come to stand next to the bed after finishing to set up everything she would need in order to prepare herself before joining her husband. 
"Everything has already been prepared for the Scented Bath Ceremony, Crown Princess," Jane explained. "The crown prince is waiting for you in the bathroom, and we have set here everything necessary for your preparation."
Kat nodded. "Thank you, Jane."
The maids curtseyed, and Kat waited until they had left the bedroom before sliding out of the bed. On the upholstered bench at the foot of the bed were set a silk robe, a flask of the perfume she had made and everything necessary for morning ablutions. She quickly freshened up, then donned the robe and took the flask to the bathroom where Angel, who was already in a bath sprinkled with white and pink rose petals, welcomed her with a smile as soon as she walked in. His blazed gaze stayed on her all the while she was removing her robe and as she slid into the hot tub, causing her body to heat up as the memories of their first night resurfaced in her mind.
Kat opened the flask and poured the perfume in her hand. "I hope you will like it…" She said hesitantly as Angel moved closer.
After she had been presented as the crown prince's fiancée, Kat had been prepared for all the ceremonies that would take place on her wedding day and after. For Angel's scent, she had carefully selected three different scents that all evoked to her the nature Angel always hid behind his usual stoic demeanour. The fiery passion that transpired while he played the piano, the strong love he had for Tornado, and the tender warmth she had discovered in him when they were at the waterfall. 
She had mixed up the three scents in different dosages and reiterated the operation several times until she had been able to obtain the result that satisfied her. She knew Angel had no choice but to accept whatever scent she would create, but she hoped that he would truly like her creation.
"You made it… it's enough for me to like it." Angel replied.
Kat rubbed her hands against each other to spread the perfume then applied it on her husband's skin, starting from his neck and going down to his chest.
When Angel closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, Kat looked at him expectantly. "How is it?"
In all response, the crown prince grabbed his consort by the waist in and kissed even more ardently than he had done the night before…

“Wait a minute… it’s a joke, right? It has to be a joke!”

Even after gulping down two full glasses of water straight, Kat was still feeling a bit dizzy. Her mind was racing while trying to fully process the information her brain had just registered…

Kat has always lived a simple life, surrounded by her loving mother and siblings. But now, in an unexpected twist of fate, she is faced with the possibility of leaving her beloved home forever.

She does not want to yield. Even if he is the crown prince of Ruund. But is still compelled by her grandfather’s oath; the honour of her family is also at stake…
