The driver remained silent in the driver's seat, but Hammer didn't let him go.
"Tell me." He closed the door and asked the driver, "Who is more handsome, the poor uncle driving a poor car or me?"
The driver was an honest middle-aged man. He didn't want to say anything against his will. He thought for a long time before he said, "You… You're younger than him… sir."

Hammer grabbed a doll from the back seat and punched it to vent his gloomy. "I decided for her a word that I wouldn't drive for the rest of my life. Are there any other men as kind as me? Girls now are so shallow. They judge people according to their outlook," he snorted.
"Didn't you stop driving because your hands trembled when you saw the steering wheel? You don't even dare to sit in the co-pilot seat, do you?"
"… Drive your car!"
The driver was very good but… too honest!

Albert drove his car and stopped at a big mall.
It was a busy time in the mall, and there were a lot of customers coming and going. Albert parked his car and walked into the mall with Sophia.
When Sophia entered the door, he saw a prompt. The cinema was on the fifth floor.
"Let's take the elevator," Sophia said.
The elevator was near the door. It would be much more convenient and faster to take the elevator than to walk the ladder to go up to the fifth floor.
Albert frowned, "It's better to walk the ladder."
Just then, the elevator door opened, and several guests waiting outside went in.
A guest saw Sophia outside and asked, "Are you coming in? I'm closing the door!"
Sophia tugged at Albert, "Come on, it's going to close."
Albert hesitated and followed Sophia into the elevator.
Soon someone pressed buttons on different floors, including the fifth floor, and Sophia didn't have to press it.
When the elevator went up, Sophia suddenly felt something strange.
She turned back and saw Albert's hands shaking slightly and sweats, starting to appear on his forehead.
Sophia was stunned when the elevator door opened on the third floor. She suddenly reached out and grabbed Albert's hand and took him out of the elevator.
Albert felt a soft, warm hand grabbing his hand, a little distracted for a moment.
"You…" Sophia said, "Are you sick of the elevator?"
Albert shook his head, "No…"
Sophia stared at him, "Are you claustrophobic?"
Albert nodded silently without saying anything.
Sophia could not believe it. She remembered that, in her last life, he had pushed her wheelchair into the elevator many times. When he stood behind her, she had never noticed his expression.
For someone with claustrophobia, taking an elevator was really a torture.
But he had never told her about that.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Sophia sighed, "You fool…"
If he had told her earlier, she wouldn't have taken the elevator with him.
"It's all right… Let's walk the ladder." Albert looked down at her fair hand, which had been holding his and never let go.
Sophia realized this when she noticed Albert's gaze and slowly released her hand.
"Let's go." Sophia turned and walked to the ladder.
Albert followed, not side by side with her as before, but quietly behind her.
Soon they came to the fifth floor.
Many people came to the movie on Friday, mostly couples. Many eating snacks and waiting for the opening outside.
Albert went right to the entrance and said something to the staff, who let them in.
"Don't we have to buy tickets?" Sophia was slightly surprised.
"I… I come here a lot. I'm the VIP here. So, they don't bother to give me tickets." Albert was serious.
Sophia was never a VIP of somewhere. Did she see too little?
He went to the door of a screening hall with the words "Hall five". "This is it."
Sophia followed.
The screening room was large, lighted, and empty.
Sophia didn't like watching movies in her last life because she had disabled legs and was afraid of causing trouble to others. She had never seen a movie at the cinema.
However, in the memory of this body, she had watched movies. Some movies were not popular, with only one or two customers, it was like they booked a whole theatre. Movies like "A Biography of Cummins" were not popular, which were not very attractive to most people.
The title of "A Biography of Cummins" appeared on the screen and then followed the opening.
At this time, the lights in the cinema went out. There was only light projected by the screen in the whole cinema.
Sophia's eyes turned to the screen. The film soon began.
Although it was Sophia's favorite movie, her mind was not on it.
She was thinking about Albert's claustrophobia.
Generally speaking, many of the people who had claustrophobia had some psychological shadow in their childhood. Albert impressed her as an optimistic, outgoing man. How could he have claustrophobia?
Or what happened to him in his childhood?
At the thought of these, Sophia turned to Albert, only to find that Albert was looking at her.
Was her mind read through?
Sophia felt that the atmosphere was weird and turned her head away from Albert.
But she had noticed that Albert seemed to be looking at her all the time.
Was that her delusion?
The movie lasted two hours. Sophia was thinking about something else and didn't pay attention to it. By the end of the film, the lights were on.
Albert got up, "Come on. I'll take you home."
"Yeah…"

Ariel walked inside with angel trotting on her heels. She sat on the bed, gently stroking Nevaeh's head. 
   'Mmm, Loki, mmm,' Nevaeh mumbled in her sleep. 
   Ariel was thoroughly taken aback. She withdrew her hand and loudly cleared her throat, making Nevaeh to wake up heavily. 'Mum?' she asked, looking at her through partially closed eyes. 'I thought you guys were coming home tomorrow.'
   'Nevaeh, do you know this strange device you have that allows you to speak to your parents who are far from home and might be worried for their daughter?' Ariel said calmly as she watched her sit up straight.
   'A lecture before a kiss. Such joy,' Nevaeh muttered.
   'Stop the sarcasm! We tried calling you countless of times! No answer! Then Raphael called me—'
   'What did he tell you?' Nevaeh asked quickly, any hint of sleep vanishing from her eyes. He had promised her not to rat out her pseudo death-stick business to her parents!
   'That you were okay and were with Joe in some downtown pub, after which you called him to let him know that you're okay,' Ariel said. 'If you could call him, then why not us? You must've heard our million voicemails!'
   'I was – I was drunk,' Nevaeh blurted. 'I was going to call you guys!'
   'Sweetie, are you mad at us for leaving the very next day after you returned from Asgard?' Ariel said apologetically. 'You do realise our trip was unavoidable or else we would've never left you alone—'
   'I wasn't alone! Loki was with me!' Nevaeh said hastily. 'I am not mad at you! I am sorry from not answering your calls! I was just busy! We were partying so hard.'
   'What about yesterday?' Ariel asked. 'Were you drunk then too?'
   'Oh,' Nevaeh's cheeks turned red. 'Loki and I went out.'
   'Just the two of you?' 
   Nevaeh nodded mutely. She got up from the bed and tapped the wall. 'Loki! Get ready! We need to catch that movie!'
   'Yeah,' Loki's voice shouted back.
   'Is Joe coming with you to the movies?' Ariel asked coyly.
   'No, she isn't!' Loki yelled again.
   Ariel chuckled. 'Good to know.'
   Nevaeh hurriedly jumped in the shower and soon got dressed. Avoiding running late for the movie, she gave a hurried hug to her dad. They did not get enough time to chat but Nevaeh was mostly glad that her parents were back. She was wearing denim jeans and a black crop top with Darth Vader's helmet on it. Nevaeh realised that they had about an hour and a half before the movie starts and she quickly went into Loki's room. She opened the door to find him standing in front of the mirror and she gasped. Loki was wearing a denim low waist jeans with a black t-shirt with his hair a bit shinier than before. Nevaeh smiled the widest; Loki was looking his most human self, like an innocent little boy.
   'Loki, you look adorable,' cooed Nevaeh, clapping him happily on the back. 'Can you make it say 'come to the dark side'?' she asked, pointing at his t-shirt. Loki sighed and brushed his chest to make the words appear on his t-shirt in green. Nevaeh turned around to look at their matching clothes in the mirror and nudged Loki who was admiring this effortlessly-handsome look of his. Nevaeh didn't feel like taking the car all the way till Brooklyn, so they made an exception this time of teleporting into the mall as Loki promised her that he would telepathically find the quaintest spot to land. 
   They left home in haste, promising her parents that they would return home before dinner to talk about a few major things. Loki teleported them as soon as her home was out of sight. They looked around and found themselves amidst a flock of people who were briskly walking around the stores. A family was standing ahead of them; a lady turned around and shrieked audibly at their sudden appearances. 
   'Where in the world did you two come from?' she yelped, completely taken aback. Nevaeh looked at her in mild alarm as her family slowly turned around to look at them suspiciously. Nevaeh locked her finger into Loki's slightly raised one and he glanced at her side-ways.
   'From Lifestyle; they are having a flat 50% discount on almost all the brands—'Nevaeh was interrupted as the lady's questioning look transformed into an ecstatic one and she nudged her husband sharply in the stomach.
   'You hear that Toby? Let's move! Thank you, I somehow didn't even see the banner' said the lady in a loving voice, taking her husband by the hand as her kids trotted along with them. Nevaeh smiled at them warmly, waving an arm. 
   Loki scoffed. 'You, little one, have understood the human behaviour quite well, haven't you? It's a shame you behave like a lunatic from time to time despite your remarkable skills.' Loki received a similar sharp punch in the stomach. They kept strolling through the compound, taking the escalator to reach the upper floors while Loki talked about the unnecessary rush in the mall.
   She suggested they grab a bite to eat before watching the movie as they had already skipped breakfast. They reached the very top floor and entered the food court, next to which was the movie theatre. 'Sweetie, why don't you take a look at what you feel like eating and I will grab the tickets in the mean time' Nevaeh subtly flicked her wand to slowly move an extra chair towards an empty table in the adjacent corner. 'They have little fliers, pamphlets, right next to their stalls. See if there is something that interests you,' she added, giving him a pat on the head and trotting towards the theatre. Loki looked around and walked towards the table Nevaeh had gestured, getting comfortable on the plastic chair which somehow had an invisible, cosy cushion on it.
   Nevaeh made her way through the crowd towards the movie theatre, but stopped unpleasantly as she saw a familiar face. 'Nevaeh!' a blonde girl called out as she approached her with a fake loving smile with a boy trotting behind her. 
   'Ugh,' Nevaeh muttered, but quickly reformed her expression, 'Betty, hi!' She kissed Nevaeh on both the cheeks. 'Who is that?' Betty hushed, eyeing a now distant Loki, as Nevaeh smiled and nodded towards the boy she was with. 
   'He is a – a boy,' Nevaeh said rather slowly.
   'Jesus, you are such an uptight bitch,' Betty said in an awfully girlish giggle, 'let me guess, you are here to watch star wars?' Nevaeh nodded and she giggled again.
   'God, you are so pathetically predictable. Do you have any idea what I would've done if I had as much money as you? Not blow it on nerd movies!' she said, shaking her head. 
   'No, you would have blown it on Cocaine and men! But in retrospect, you managed to do both of them thoroughly in your teens without the money, darling,' Nevaeh imitated her girlish giggle, kissing her one last time on the cheek of her flabbergasted face and waving goodbye to them to stand herself in the line for the tickets. The line was a tad longer than before and there were two guys standing ahead of Nevaeh, one of them glanced back and eyed her from head to foot. 
   'Are you here alone? I wouldn't mind offering you some company' he said faking politeness.
   'I am good,' Nevaeh said, shaking her head and smiling lightly.
   'I bet you are damn good,' he said slyly winking at her and she scoffed, choosing not to dignify that with a response. 'So do you come here often?' he asked.
   'Dude, I am with someone and even if I weren't, I wouldn't be interested,' Nevaeh said firmly.
   'I am sure I can make you interested' he said persistently. Nevaeh was exhausted; she had left Loki for less than ten minutes yet she felt like she had left sane, intellectual company behind her ages ago. She looked at the stupid guy in front of her, still gazing at her hopefully as though she will abruptly change her mind and she sighed, suddenly feeling the urge to give Loki a big kiss and to let him know how clever and unique he truly is. Nevaeh glanced ahead in the corner, wondering what is taking them so long to hand out a few tickets. She glanced at the guy who was still staring at her and he winked at her lightly, opening his mouth to speak again but Nevaeh made an audibly exasperated sound, rolling her eyes heavily. 'You say another word to me and you will regret it.'
   'Word,' the boy laughed and fist-bumped his friend. They were next in line to get the tickets.
   'Look at me,' Nevaeh said. She shadily twirled her wand. 'You look like a generous guy. Buy me two tickets first. Then buy everyone in this line theirs.'
   The boy's friend laughed. 'Yeah, right.' He was thoroughly stunned when his friend purchased and handed two tickets to Nevaeh whose hand was expectantly waiting for them. 'Dude, what are you doing?' But his friend didn't pay him any attention.
   'Don't forget the rest of the people. And the other people who will eventually join the line,' Nevaeh told him. 'If you run out of cash, use your card.'
   She trotted off towards the food court feeling considerably cheerful, realising how drastically her people-tolerance-level has reduced since she came back from Asgard, and she figured it was for the best. She wondered if the reason behind it was that everybody seemed incredibly intelligent on Asgard. She was waiting to see the look on Loki's face when she would tell him about what she did. Nevaeh halted in mid-track. 
   Pure horror struck her eyes as she set her eyes on their table and onto Loki who was sitting behind in his chair with his legs lavishly crossed. There were at least seven pamphlets soaring in front of him at his eye level; The Burger King, KFC, The Kebab Corner, Dominos, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Subway. They were all neatly rotating one by one as he flickered his eyes from one to the next, apparently reading everything.
   Loki was distractedly rubbing a finger over his chin, deep in contemplation over what to choose while wondering what Nevaeh would prefer at the same time. The family sitting next to him were eyeing him with wild eyes, but the children were clearly loving his style which went completely unnoticed by a least bothered Loki.
   'So wise! So intelligent!' muttered Nevaeh, pocketing their tickets and grabbing a scissor from a packaging outlet. Nevaeh trotted towards Loki while observing that he was being cautiously eyed by the family with four kids and a group of three friends sitting close to him. A few of the passers-by were glancing distractedly at him, only to double back if realization ever hit them amidst their busy lives.
   'Why, good afternoon Prince Wizard! What kind of an optical illusion do you have here?' Nevaeh asked in a theatrical scientific voice, sliding down imaginary glasses down the bridge of her nose and eyeing Loki with dramatic suspicion. 
   Loki opened his mouth to speak but kept it open without saying anything as he watched Nevaeh raise the scissors above his levitating pamphlets and imitate a cutting gesture in the air as though cutting off invisible strings. He was thoroughly baffled at her improvisation skills as he watched the pamphlets lower themselves a little as if they were being held in the air by invisible ropes. 
   'Hey! I am still reading!' complained a confused Loki. 
   Nevaeh shot him a glaring look. She did a complete circular cutting gesture and one by one the fliers fell down on their table, while some on the floor and one landed on Loki's head. The kids from the family started laughing and applauding but all the adults were still eyeing her with incredible suspicion, Loki being one of them. She bowed a little for the kids and grabbed Loki by the arm who was still stunned by her lunatic, far-fetched, and wildly exaggerated act of explanation. He quickly got up, the pamphlet brushing itself off of his head and they started walking straight towards the theatre.
   'Dude! WTF?' Nevaeh hissed as soon as they were away from the court.
    'WTF? What does that stand for?' Loki asked.
   'Okay, stop talking!' Nevaeh gestured an arm to stop him. 'We are going inside, finding a quaint corner and talk this through.' 
   She beckoned him to enter the theatre. She distractedly pulled out their tickets; locating their screens and seats as she passed through the detector door. She halted within two steps when she heard a loud beep as soon as Loki attempted to pass through it. Nevaeh turned around to see a blinking Loki halt in his step and she grudgingly wondered how many daggers his highness might be packing in his jeans' pockets. 
   A guard quickly approached Loki with a huge detector in his hand, stretching out an arm. Nevaeh felt her heart skip a beat as she saw Loki's face turn visibly red in indignation blended with fury as he scoffed at the guard's outstretched hand. Nevaeh was just waiting to hear the words "You dare point that puny stick upon the Son of Odin" erupt from his mouth when Loki waved his arm in a strikingly familiar gesture.
   'Nothing to see here. Move along,' Loki said, waving his arm in front of the guard's face.
   'There is nothing to see here,' mumbled the guard, lowering his detector. Loki smirked and moved ahead, winking lightly at a stunned Nevaeh. 'Move along,' the guard mumbled from behind and Loki chuckled.
   'You heard the man,' Loki said, taking a still-stunned-with-silence Nevaeh by the arm and steering her inside as she blinked at him, wondering whether to laugh or cry.
   There were still twenty minutes left for the movie to begin and they entered their screening room. After sitting themselves down on their seats inside the considerably empty theatre, Nevaeh let out a huge sigh and shifted in her seat to look at Loki. Their seats were on the second last row and right in the middle, because Nevaeh never watched any movie from a corner, just never. 
   Before Nevaeh could speak, Loki interjected. 'Can we talk about why you performed that poor acting back there? And what were you exactly? A scientist? A detective? Where did you get the scissors? And what is Prince Wizard?' Loki asked, fixing her in a heavy frown as though she should've chosen between either one of his alternative names.
   'I don't know! I was shocked after seeing you! You can't do this stuff in the open, Loki. It is wrong!' Nevaeh said in an urgent voice. They had discussed for hours over how Nevaeh had to behave around people, but apparently Loki somehow did not see the fact that it was applied to him as well. 
   'Says who?' Loki asked. Nevaeh opened her mouth to speak but quickly closed it as a couple passed from near their seats to settle themselves at the far end. Loki watched her with patience as little as her nose, and clicked his tongue in annoyance. 'The problem is them? Mortals? Seriously? What was I doing? I was merely selecting what to have for –'
   'Loki, I understand that. But they cannot analyse their menus by merely flickering their eyes! That kind of stuff is frowned upon by everyone,' Nevaeh said in a-we-can't-help-it manner.
    There was a long silence which was broken by Loki. 'So, you love this movie in which your favourite character destroys an entire planet by using the power of a huge spherical ball? A man who has powerful abilities such as telekinesis and whom you think of righteous?' Loki asked, thoroughly enjoying a personal experience with striking resemblance. He hoped that she wouldn't get defensive as she opened her mouth to speak.
   'Well, the people of Alderan did not deserve that at all! They were peaceful people and—'
   'Yes. But if Alderan would've been portrayed as a toxic planet filled with monstrous, blood-thirsty creatures, your sympathy for them would've perished, yes?' Loki asked calmly. 
   Nevaeh was enjoying Loki's enthusiasm and newfound approaches on Star wars related topics and she wondered if he was doing that just to make her happy. 'Sure – maybe, if they are indeed that horrible,' Nevaeh said. 'Vader is still the best though. AND THE EMPIRE DID NOTHING WRONG!' Nevaeh boasted loudly in a booming voice which echoed throughout the theatre followed by a chorus of thundering cheers from the crowd and people happily turning to raise their soda-cups in the air. Loki chuckled along with the crowd who were suddenly looking a bit alive and enthusiastic, some of them still laughingly saying 'hear-hear!' 
   'Why aren't all these seats taken near us? Look at them, all crowded over there! They are not even together!' Nevaeh said, nodding urgently towards a man sandwiched right between a family and a couple. The lights went off and Loki sighed in relief. The movie began playing when a distracted Nevaeh again opened her mouth to speak, but Loki shushed her as though his life depended on the movie. The words 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…' appeared on the screen and Nevaeh quickly shifted in her seat and slid her hand into Loki's.

When Yang Chen said the word "date," Lin Ruoxi was evidently caught off guard, she cautiously stared at Yang Chen without a word.

Yang Chen just thought of it as Lin Ruoxi being unaccustomed to receiving such an invitation. He was too forward and said it out of the blue, so he quickly took it down a notch and said, "Is it too soon? Then how about we just go out for dinner?"

Lin Ruoxi faintly shook her head, then softly asked, "Do I need to change clothes?"

"Change into what?"

"What clothes should I wear on a date?" Embarrassed, Lin Ruoxi asked.

Yang Chen finally understood. It wasn't that she didn't want to go on a date, she just didn't know how to date. Therefore, he gently smiled and said, "You don't need to change, you're fine as you are. But the car has to be changed, it has to be me who brings you for a date, not you driving me for a date."

Lin Ruoxi nodded with an uncertain heart and drove the car. She drove the red Bentley all the way to where Yang Chen had parked his car. They then got out of the Bentley and entered that white M3.

"Where are we going?" It was her first time going on a date, so Lin Ruoxi was a little nervous, and she spoke with a softer tone.

Yang Chen's interest was piqued. His normally cold wife had suddenly turned into a shy, young girl experiencing her first love. How could he withstand such an attack? He had the urge to reach out and pat her head, but he was also afraid that she would suddenly throw a temper. He lifted up three fingers and said, "I'm going to give you three choices: watch a movie, go shopping or visit an aquarium. Which do you prefer?"

Lin Ruoxi's eyes immediately lit up. She thought for a bit before replying in a voice that carried traces of anticipation, "Then let's go to the aquarium. I've never been to one. I like tropical fishes, they're really pretty."

"It's too late now, the aquarium's going to close soon. Pick something else," Yang Chen said.

"Then… the shopping centre. Let's go look at the shopping centres owned by my company. It'll be a surprise inspection." Lin Ruoxi settled for the next best thing.

Yang Chen shook his head, "Shopping? That's way too exhausting for me. Don't take me for a fool. I know that you women won't even care about the men once you start shopping."

Lin Ruoxi's brows furrowed together, "Then where should we go?"

"To the movies then! We can just sit down and watch, how great." Yang Chen smiled as he spoke.

Lin Ruoxi bit her lip as her frustration rose. She puffed up her cheeks and protested coquettishly, "Then why are you still giving me choices!? Couldn't you just tell me that we're going to the movies from the start!?"

Yang Chen grinned, "Aren't I showing some democracy? I gave you three choices; isn't it possible that you might have picked watching a movie as your first choice? If you didn't pick it, I who drive the car will control where to go to, so it's still my choice in the end. Isn't this what all leaders do? Aren't you a leader yourself? You should be familiar with it then. Democracy, democracy, hehe…"

"You scoundrel! I'm getting off, why don't you go and have a date by yourself!" A layer of frost covered Lin Ruoxi's pretty face as she made a move to get out of the car.

Yang Chen laughed, "It's too late!"

Right after he finished speaking, the BMW squealed with its tires intensely rubbing against the ground, the car burst out of the car park like a bullet!

Lin Ruoxi who was about to release her seat belt became stuck on her seat due to the sudden g-force!

"Are you mad! I want to get off!"

"My wife, what did you say? I can't hear you!!" Yang Chen laughed out loud.

On the road that was sandwiched between neon lights, the car drove on it like a streak of white and red, the roaring engine shocked all surrounding pedestrians.

As there were fewer cars in the vicinity of the exhibition centre which had wide roads, the car kept speeding up. Later on on the expressway, he was even able to pull up the handbrake and drift on several bends!

"Lunatic! Stop! Stop!! Crazy guy! Crazy..."

After Lin Ruoxi continued screaming for a while, she could no longer care about stopping Yang Chen. She was afraid that one little mistake could cause the car to smash into the railings, so she covered her face with her hands, sitting there like she had resigned to fate. Allowing her body to sway with the inertia of the car...

Although it wasn't her first time going through Yang Chen's racing-like driving, Lin Ruoxi still felt like her soul was being pulled from her body in all directions. This feeling of going at the speed where life hangs on the edge was something that couldn't be experienced by watching movies.

Only when they had reached an area where there was more traffic flow did Yang Chen slow down the car, and did Lin Ruoxi slowly lower her hands and sigh in relief.

They both stared closely at the dark circles under the eyes of Ying Yue.
"Yes, you can clearly see that she has not slept for a long time. I have heard that she's working day and night on the movie, it's to the point that the production house is worried that there would be a news about her collapsing."
"If she is that much tired, how the hell is she working?"
The reporter asked with ceased brows.
"I don't know. Maybe, she is on IVs or something but she is working anyway. That's why, we were warned to not disturb her."
"Producer, why is she working this hard?"
The assistant producer asked as he wondered about it.
"Think about it carefully, «A born star» is the most highly anticipated movie this year and she is just a rookie director. Think about how much pressure she would be in."
The reporter and the assistant producer both nodded at his words.
The producer continued.
"People are even saying that Xin Ren is taking a huge risk working in the movie and there is all sorts of rumours around it."
"But people are highly anticipating the project. I don't think it would be a flop. It would be average at the least."
"You are right but do you really think that with the marketing and the reality TV show, if they only did average business, people and media win leave them alone."
"Huh!?"
"If they didn't aim for the best and didn't got the best result, they would be in trouble especially Xin Ren, he only has successful projects in his career, it would be a big blow for him."
"So, you mean that Director Ying is working hard because she can't afford to get average results."
The producer nodded and replied.
"Yes, she can't afford to lose. If she did, then…."
The producer didn't continued his words and the reporter and the assistant producer has already understood the situation.
They both knew that although it's the first project for Ying Yue, it can very well be her last too.
That's why, she can't afford to rest!

Albert stretched his body as he walked out of his room. It was time for his evening practice session and he did not want to be late. His instructor, Mr. Lokan did not take kindly to people who wasted his time. He increased his pace considerably as he made his way to the practice area.

Lokan Jehag, a retired war veteran in his early fifties, always wore a chilling gaze. His red eyes only made his already menacing face even scarier. The man was six feet tall and towered over anybody in the village. His short blond hair was always well kept and his clothes were impeccable, not to mention his shiny black leather shoes. Sporting a thick blond mustache, Lokan was a symbol of masculinity that brought nightmares to the children who were training under him. While the adults knew that his face traits represented his character unfairly, the children did not care for a reason, his face simply terrified the young ones. Albert, on the other hand, was on really friendly terms with the geezer. Lokan was a  frequent visitor to the Mayor's manor. He might have retired, but Lokan had earned a big name in a war a few decades ago, he had retired as a captain. With the ability to lead as well as fight, Lokan had become the mayor's advisor when it came to anything related to the military. The two along with few others would frequently hold discussions in the study for long hours. The discussions were always accompanied by laughter and merriness, Lokan's was always the loudest. 

By the time Albert reached the practice area, Lokan was already read at his position. There were a few other kids too, 11 of them to be exact. 7 of them were boys and 4 of them were girls. The town of Reylgar was located at the base of Var-gatium sharing the vast lands 3 other sister towns. While they were called towns, each of them sported a population close to a million, not including the numerous villages and towns that came to be with these mega towns as their centers. These 4 mega towns were collectively known as the Border towns and had well paved roads connected one another. The road networks were so extensive that it connected with most of the sub towns and villages. The border towns were sterched over the plains of Var-gatium, running a few thousand kilometers. They had amble forest too which provided them the resources they need to build themselves up. While the area was called a plain, half of its area had dense forests, a few major rivers passed through these lush jungles. Hunting was a major source of food along with agirculture. The villages towards the costal sides would tranport fishes but they could not transport for long distances and hence not many could enjoy it. 

Beyond the plains was a landscape which the people called the land of death, endless golden sands greeted any who dared to turn towards it. Agar-htark or golden death was the main reason the kindgom refused to elevate the status of the border towns to cities. The desert would take a few months to cross even with a mount and a guide who knew his way, and  one would dare to venture through it without a guide. The so called border towns were initially fortresses built during the ancient war with the magis. But a disaster during the war had seen Ishlak lost a good chunk of its fertile lands to the golden waves. The initial residents of the towns were soldiers who were  now cutoff from the capital, and then the tribes who had inhabited the forest. The military forces as hears passed and the population increased, slowly morphed into towns. After the war, when the kingdom of Altia came to being, they had tried hard to pave a safe path between the now seperated parts  but in the end things did not meet expectations. They were able to develop vehicles that could cross the vast dessert both by land and air, but the cost of keeping them running turned to a huge burden that the kindgom had to put them to a stop. Ever since the kindgom had partly given up on the border towns. While they enjoyed some privileges, the border towns remained loyal to the throne and paid their taxes on time. 

Henry Freeman was the mayor of the town of Reylgar, and was quite the figure in the plains. Albert as his son hence garnered some of the attention. That might be why the gang of 11 made him the boss. Albert had only got into these practice session only because his father forced him to. The other ten were actually chosen after an initial assessment. Every three year, the town conducted few tests that assessed the potential of kids of age 15 on various fronts. The main things tested were their magic aptitude, their brain skills and a good physique. The rich families would so employ tutors so that their children would be one of the ten. Those who had undergone Lokan's training held prominent places in border town, especially in the military, it was like a certificate of competence. Henry being the mayor found it easy to get Lokan agree on taking Albert too. The ten had initially been cold to him for getting in through unfair methods but when Lokan published the performance ranking after three months, Albert ranked third. While he wasn't the best, the ranking helped Albert winover the friendship of the other kids. Albert's vast knowledge of things was another factor. The party had got into troubles a few times and it was Albert who had saved them. Once they got lost in the forest but they reached home before midnight thanks Albert reading the stars for directions. They had from then on crowned him as their boss. Almost a year had passed since then, Lokan had specifically told them not to be late on that day. So by the time Albert reached the dedicated training area, almost all of them had already assembled. Albert was the tenth to come but there was still enough time before the session started. 

The training area for the chosen were outside the town wall. Lokan was a veteran who had retired when he was in his middle thirties. He had made a name for himself during the last war and had retired as a captain. His partihad specifically asked the setup to be so The previous mayor, Henry's father had accepted all of Lokan's conditions and  a training area the size of a few hundred of football fields was built. The training area too had fortifications as it had plenty of buildings erected. The ten would have to spend months training without able to go home during the year end assessments and hence there were various facilities made avilable to support the kids. The training area had turned into a theater of war when the army began to involve itself. When the first few graduates started holding power in various areas, the government began to provide even more support. Over the years funding had increased by many folds, the army even dispatched personnels and officers. As the number of graduates increased and their abilities began to be targets of envy, Lokan had turned into one of the most reputed people in the town. Now, one of his students held prominent position in all disciplines around the town. As the training area warped into a war theater, the area it covered soon increased another ten fold or so. It had grown so big that it was twice the size of the town of Reylgar itself. A decade ago, the other towns too had send a regiment of 1200 soldiers each. An agreement was made between the border town to develop the war theater as a joint effort. Reylgar was given exclusive rights for training session for ten years and that exclusive rights were going to end that year. Once Albert's batch graduated, the next batch would have 40 kids, ten from each. Each town had promised to send some of their experts along with kids. These experts would live in the war theater and would dedicate themselves to grooming the future generations. The war theater would from now on become border town's war theater. 

Winter was soon coming. Three months of grueling winter. There was hardly a month left and the town was busy on stockpiling. Henry was having a meeting with the other mayors regarding the same. The towns would exchange commodities so that they could survive the harsh winter, they would make sure that every family under their jurisdiction would live to see the spring. The huge consumption was a burden but luckily they had enough people work and enough resources to make use of. The resource department was one of the most sought of all divisions as the benefit was not small. The officers of resource department would always get a 'claim' of whaterver came to the town. The town of Reylgar had enough stocked to last a year all the time, the mayor had to make sure that was the case. But that did not mean the workers could relax as they needed to fill the quota for the other subsidiaries, not to forget the exchange with other border towns. The town was hence bustling, the path to the war theatre had many warehouses and hence the roads were flooded with carts unloading goods. 

All of this was new to Albert even when he had the memories, he felt refreshed as he walked through the busy streets. Being the second son of the mayor, many recognized him and would greet him with smiles. Albert had travlled most of the distance by carriage but since the road through the warehouses were jam packed, he had decided to get down and walk. It took him 20mins or so to reach the gates that lead to the war theatre. The entire town had a colossal wall that surrounded it. Standing 15m in height, the walls were 5 meters wide. The walls had specialized defence mechanisms that drew power from the town's core. But its specifics were a secret and only the higher ups knew what exactly these mechanisms were. There had never been a seige attack on the town ever and thus nobody ever saw those mechanisms in action. The war theater too had similar walls and defense systems, and also had watch towers that reached twice the height of the walls. These towers made use of indegenous magi tools that could see as far 15 to 20km. 

When Albert reached the entry to the war theater, he was greeted by a couple of soldiers. Only a very few had the clearance to go inside the theater. A pass wass issued to those who had the clearance and they had to submit their pass at the check post. Albert took out his pass which surprisingly had a very realistic photo of his along with his name, his postion inside the theater and also his guaranteers name. Albert's designation was Class 12, which meant he was the 12th batch of Lokan's trainees. The soldiers were already familiar with Albert who had been coming through the same checkpost for 2 years. 

The soldiers let him through fast as they greeted him with a smile, one of them even ruffled his hair as they chatted for a while. Albert couldn't get used to his head being patted, but to his dismay most who knew him loved to ruffle him up. Is it because he was too quiet that they thought physical love was needed? Albert could never figure out but since he didn't want others feel suspicious, he could only bear with it. Albert let a sigh out as he headed towards the stable. The soldiers did not mind when he had asked them for a horse and so Albert borrowed one as he sped towards the training field. 

With the help of the horse and due to the well paved roads, Albert reached the training field in a jiffy. He got down from his horse and signalled it go back by tapping at its rear twice. He then turned towards the field and was greeted by a few kids waving at him. 

'Hm? All of them are here already? Normaly they dont come even 5min early but all of them are here when there is almost 30min before the meeting time. Am I forgetting something?'

Albert could help but have a bad feeling. He waved back at them but his face did not have a smile on it. As he reached the group of kids, one of them walked towards him. The boy with red spiky hair was wearing a blue shirt and black trousers. The boy slid his right arm over Albert's should and then used his left hand to playfully punch Albert in his stomach.

"Boss, did you wake up at the riveshore today too?", the boy questioned sarcastically with a grin on his face. His red eyes that matched with red hair told Albert that the boy was a really god time. 

"Annoying", Albert pushed away the boy's hand from his shoulder as he walked away from the clingy creature. 

"Oh no, Wik got rejectee by Albi again. Is your heart broken Wik. Want some pillows to cry on?"

The boy named Wik spun his head towards the source of the mocking voice. He then glared daggers at the beauty who was now making wier faces at him.

"Scarlett! Stop spouting nonsense. Why would I, the most charming boy of this town, go after another boy, that too a dull looking one like boss. The girls of this town would die to become min", the boy countered. His face was saying that he truly believed each and evey word he was spouting. The boy styled his hair as he peeked at Scarlett from the corner of his eyes, a pose which he thought was cool. And as usual the group ingnored him completely. 

Before Wik could complain about his friend's for ignoring him, Lokan's voice thundered. 

"Attention!"

His sound felt like a roar and immediately the 11 formed a line of two. Lokan walked before them and only stopped once he was right infront of them. He then walked around them as he inspected their uniform. All the kids were in blue shirt and black trousers and had to keep themselves tidy. Lokan would inspect them and if he found even one of them not maintaining decorum, then the entire batch had to run rounds around the field. Once Lokan was done he came back to his original position and then addressed the kids.

"Alright, are you guys ready for the assessment?", once again the instructor's voice thundered and this time the kids to replied with equal power, "Yes sir". All except one that is.

"Assessment?", Albert had a dumb look on his face when he mumbled to himself.

When war explodes in the kindgom of Altia, a young boy of age 18 has to use all his wit just to survive.

"Are you okay, Li Nang? You don't seem like yourself. You seem... a bit off," Rui Xing asked. 

"I'm fine. Shall we get the bill since we are all done eating?" 

"Go ahead," Shang Ying told him.

Li Nang raised his hand and asked the waitress for the bill. The waitress nodded her head and went over to the counter to get it as requested. She handed it over to him and when he was about to put his credit card on the table, Rui Xing stopped him. "I asked the both of you out for dinner so I should be the one to pay," she said as she passed the lady her credit card. The lady took her credit card and went back to the counter. "Then we shall pay you back our share," Li Nang replied. 

"No, you don't have to." "But I will feel bad for making a woman pay for everything when we can pay for ourselves," Shang Ying insisted. "Can't we just split the bill? Please?" Li Nang continued to say. Seeing their persistence, she suggested, "How about y'all pay for the next meal the three of us have together?" "Then the other person will be third-wheeling and plus will the person you didn't choose, will they still be friends with you?" Li Nang asked. 

"I promise that no matter who I choose, we will all continue to be friends. And about the third-wheeling thing, he can just get a date and join us. That way, he won't be third-wheeling and we'll just have a double date!" The lady came back with her card and a receipt for Rui Xing to sign. She signed it and took her card back from the lady. They exited the restaurant together afterwards. Since they had decided to watch a movie together, they had to drive over to the nearest movie theatre from where they were at. But they had a problem, Shang Ying and Li Nang were quarrelling over which car Rui Xing should sit in to get to the movie theatre. She sighed and stepped in to stop them. 

"Okay, how about this? To the movie theatre, I'll sit inside Li Nang's car. And going back to my house, I'll sit inside Shang Ying's car."

They nodded their head in approval and walked to their cars. Off to the nearest movie theatre they went.

-Skip to the movie theatre-

They walked out of their cars and went to the counter to decide which movie they should watch. Rui Xing wanted to watch Aquaman, Shang Ying wanted to watch Backtrace and Li Nang wanted to watch Bumblebee. After much negotiation, they ended up choosing Aquaman. They queued up to get their tickets and chose their seats. They got their tickets from the man at the counter. Then, they went towards the food counter to get some food!

-At Crescent Star Level 3-

They took the lift to level 3 and they went to every door to look for Yi Ming. There were 5 doors at every level. They knocked on the first door and went inside to look for him. However, he wasn't in the first house. He wasn't in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th house either. If he stayed at his sister's house to escape, then he should be in the 5th house. They knocked on the door and a lady around her late 30s opened it. "Hello Madam, we are here to look for Yi Ming. Are you his sister?" Policeman 1 asked. 

"Yes I am. I'm Yi Xing. He is inside right now but he doesn't allow anyone to enter the room. I'm not quite sure why he came to my house out of the blue," she explained.

"Madam, can we come in? We need to bring Yi Ming back to the police station. He had asked 2 people to carry out a kidnap," Policeman 2 calmly explained. 

"Oh my... and yes you may enter."

"Policeman 2 and 3 go to the right to look for his mobile devices as well as him. Policeman 4 come with me to the left to look. Policeman 5 stay outside in case he tries to escape," Policeman 1 instructed.

They looked around the house and found one room in which was locked. They looked around and found some keys to open the door. They found Yi Ming sitting down on the bed. It was easier than they thought, to catch him. He got up of the bed and walked towards the policemen. Before Policeman 2 could handcuff him, Yi Ming took out a penknife from his pocket and cut Policeman 2's neck. His neck started bleeding, it was a pretty deep cut. Yi Xing got a plaster from her bag and passed it to policeman 2. He placed the plaster on his neck and thanked her for giving him one. 

"Take his penknife away and immediately handcuff him," Policeman 4 instructed.

Policeman 1 took his penknife away from him, and in return, he got a cut on his hand. Even though policeman 1's hand was bleeding, he didn't bother. He caught hold of both his hands and brought it towards the back. He immediately handcuffed him right after. The five of them walked out of the house with Yi Ming. They drove back to the police station. At the police station, Yi Ming surrendered his mobile phone and wallet. They caught the culprit of the kidnap and he has been put to jail.

Shang Ying got some salted popcorn, Li Nang got some nacho cheese and Rui Xing got a drink. They went towards hall 4 and passed their tickets to the people working. He tore their paper slightly and passed it back to Rui Xing. They went inside the theatre and looked for their seats. They eventually found it and sat down. They used their mobile phones while waiting for the advertisements to end. 

After a little more than 2 hours, the movie ended. It was a great movie ( author's opinion )! Rui Xing was sure of her answer, her decision, her choice. They looked at her, nervously, waiting for her answer. "Shang Ying, Li Nang, you're both amazing guys. I hope Li Nang will find some other girl better than me that will treat you well. I'm sorry, Li Nang." Shang Ying walked closer to her and hugged her. He let go after a few seconds to not make Li Nang feel left out. "I'm happy for the two of you. I'm sure the two of you would be make a great couple," he smiled as he said those words. 

"Dinner soon? Find a date!" Shang Ying said. He nodded his head and walked towards the other direction. Li Nang walked back to his car and drove off. 

"Let's go on an actual date, just the two of us, no distractions. I hope this will work out for the both of us, for the better," Rui Xing spoke in all seriousness. "Tomorrow, 12pm. I'll come pick you up from your house. I'll take leave tomorrow. Let's spend the entire day together," he replied. She nodded her head and he placed a kiss on her lips. And Rui Xing kissed him back.

A 21 year old girl is in a love triangle. Whose heart would she break? Who will she end up with? How would her loved-ones react?
