World-famous scientist Newton Benter was celebrating his newest invention when an accident caused his lab to blow up with him in it. Now reincarnated into the fantasy setting he dreamed about as a kid, he zealously investigates the laws of the world, redefining what it means to call oneself a cultivator.

This story begins with death. With his death to be more specific. And it truly was a tragedy, for Mathis Bauer was still young when the last breath breezed his lips. No one saw it coming, no one could believe the news. How could Mathis Bauer, the well-known and famous writer, die at such a young age? How could he die at the same day his newest book got published? So much talent forever lost, so many stories that will never be told, that will never be read…

Such words circulated the world of literature immediately after learning about the news of his death, yet what everyone thought but didn't dare to say at loud was how all of them were glad that his death happened only after he finished his book. After all that's all they cared about. His books. His stories. The real tragedy would be if the book hadn't been finished.

Even though it was truly shocking that Mathis Bauer died at the age of thirty, many rumors were spread regarding his death. After the news of him passing away were published, surprisingly no details were given. As a result people started to let their imagination run free. Maybe he got killed. Maybe he committed suicide. Maybe he faked his death. Maybe there was an accident. Reporters from all over the place surrounded his house camping outside it just so they could make a question, just so they could get an answer. But no results. There weren't many people to demand answers from to begin with. Mathis Bauer never married, therefore he didn't have a wife or children. He never had any romantic relationship with anyone. To top it all, he grew up in an orphanage, so he never knew his parents. Due to his extremely asocial personality, he didn't have many friends either. The only people the reporters could interview were his manager, his housemaid and last but not least, his only friend who unfortunately lived abroad. However all of them refused to talk about the circumstances of Mathis Bauer's death.

This only lead people to thinking that this famous writer who was known all over the world for his fantasy books with epic battles and unique story telling, might have died as a result of something shameful or maybe even illegal. There were theories all over the internet, conspiracies and ideas, some even ridiculously thought that he might have been part of a cult or such a thing, yet the truth was far away from something like that. It was also far more simpler.

Mathis Bauer died late at night. He was used to pulling all-nighters almost all of his life. He would go days without sleep, without leaving his house nor even his room for long periods of time. His head would be hid behind his computer screen, frantically typing word after word for hours without stopping once, almost as if he was scared that the ideas would disappear for good if he dared so much as resting for five minutes.

A lot of people gained interest in him because of his first published book "Doomsday is 100 seconds away from midnight". The book was a huge hit. Millions of copies were sold in many different languages and shortly after that, it was adapted to a TV series that also turned out to be very successful. Yet despite all this, the face of the writer was never seen. This situation… such mysterious aura surrounding his identity, made everyone all around the world extremely curious. Such thing went on even after three other books of his got published, all three of them a bigger success than the other. Yet his face remained a secret. At some point during his short lived life he got the nickname of the Vampire Writer after an interview where his manager, a gray-haired man with a permanent smile plastered on his face, said that the famous Mathis Bauer always worked in darkness and hated the sun. But this isn't the only reason behind this nickname. 

With his popularity growing with every book he wrote, and with his success increasing drastically, the number of people who demanded to see his face also grew. Seeing this situation, his manager convinced him that it was only fair for his fans to see his face, so after years and years of mystery, Mathis Bauer finally showed his face to the world. Upon seeing his pale complexion and thin body, the dark hair that were long enough to be tied up and his black piercing eyes, he got branded as the Vampire Writer.

But who would have thought that this Vampire who cherished the night the most, would die young, alone and in darkness?

Mathis Bauer died at night, not long after his latest book got officially published. He didn't like to be disturbed throughout the night, so his housemaid knew to not enter his room. She knew not to knock on the door and not to call him no matter what, so the poor lady had no idea that while she was walking back and forth in front of his room doing the laundry, behind that door that remained more closed than open, the man she worked for was dead. She had no idea throughout the whole night. She had no idea in the morning as well. Not until after one pm, when she knocked on the door and opened it with one hand while holding with the other one a tray with his "breakfast", saw that Mathis Bauer was sprawled on the floor, his face pressed against the dark reddish carpet. He didn't wake up when the tray fell from the woman's hands, a loud clang echoing through the room. He didn't wake up when she ran to him with teary eyes and called his name. Not even when she tried to shake him awake. No matter what she did, Mathis Bauer didn't wake up, for he was actually dead.

The reason behind his death was far from what people thought and speculated. He didn't commit suicide nor he got killed. He wasn't suffering from any illness that lead to his death. So why did Mathis Bauer die?

It was this question in particular that made his already famous personality, the center of discussion for quite a while. Oddly, it was also one of the reasons that made his last book the most sold novel of the decade. For some reason, people thought they would find the answer in the book if they studied it well and looked carefully. But his death remained a secret. In fact, his manager paid quite a big amount of money for it to be this way. He was a quite skillful man that knew how to manage the situation and turn everything to his best interest. With the mystery of Mathis Bauer's death being the most talked topic, he knew to keep such thing a secret and make the most of it he could, so the world never received an answer regarding this question.

Why did Mathis Bauer die….

The truth is quite funny actually. So funny and stupid that is tragically sad, especially for a writer like him who ended every book with a boom, for a writer like him who had mastered the art of capturing the reader's attention with his words and kept them glued to his books in anticipation until the very last word, where after the climax came the perfect ending that completed the book in such a way, it left people thinking about it for days.

It is funny and sad to say, that the famous writer Mathis Bauer died because of choking on a single round grape.

The very famous writer, Mathis Bauer, unexpectedly dies one night, shocking the world, but the real one who can't get over the shock is Mathis himself. 
With the last thing he can recall being himself dying, Mathis Bauer wakes up in the body of one of his book characters, and a side villan character at that.
 
Not understanding what is happening and how such thing is possible, Mathis Bauer now is thrown in the middle of the war he himself as the writer plotted, knowing fully well that he's working for the wrong side. 

Forced to live as the psychotic murder, Yue Zian, who dies halfway through the book in the hands of the main character, Mathis tries his best to change the ending of the book, all while helplessly goofing around and losing his shit over the main character and his love interest.

Have you ever pondered the existence of creatures that are the size of giant cars and that breathed fire that could melt the toughest of metals?

Instead of wondering wether or not they existed, why not just become one and transport yourself to another dimension while you're at it!

Such was the case of one poor soul who had never asked for anything more than the newest fantasy VR game that christmas.

She was a normal girl from a normal family working a normal salary job. 

Other than being quite skilled at video games and puzzle solving, she was the epitome of mediocrity.

However this had never bothered her in the slightest, more she took pride in her normalcy, quite the feat.

Her only passion in her life was video games, She adored them, instead of using her salary to buy the newest makeup products and name brand clothing, she bought the new assassin's creed (which is really great btw).

On christmas eve, being single and having a not so great relationship with the rest of her family, she went out to buy her own presents because of course her presents wouldn't appear magically under her nonexistent christmas tree!

She was currently powerwalking towards a large store with posters portraying wizards and warriors fighting  mystical creatures and whatnot. Ignoring the grand posters, she waltzed right into the store.

she walked with no hesitation from years of experience navigating the store, she soon arrived at her destination, the new games section where you could buy the newest VR headset along with the newest VR fantasy game in a set, it was a deal!

After purchasing the game and using up most of her savings, she power walked home.
She lived in a small apartment complex with about 8 apartments, the typical japanese one's. She knew all her neighbors, mostly housewives waiting for gossip or taking care of their kids but overall nice people. 

Ignoring her neighbors who greeted her with smiles on their faces as they watched her rush up the stairs and almost trip. It wasn't like they were waiting for a response but none ever came.

Back in her humble abode, our main character who's name shall finally be revealed, fumbled with her keys as she locked the door behind her, still in a rush she didn't even think to turn the lights on and grabbed her shopping bag that contained her precious treasures, and ran to her bedroom.

Lucille, an Asian girl who's parents thought it was a great idea to give her a French name, unceremoniously slammed open the door to her bedroom, ran to her gamer chair, plugged in the VR headset after throwing a quick glance at the instructions and hastily unwrapped the new game she had purchased.

Lucille carefully placed the VR headset over her eyes and turned it on. A green light flashed a few times before the headset suddenly started to squeeze Lucille's head. 

Lucille panicked as she tried desperately to take off the headset. While trying to remove the headset, she didn't realize that half of her body had turned into white pixels and was slowly disappearing.

Lucille thought " ooh shit what have I done?", she should have read the instructions more attentively but it was too late for that, her whole body had been pixelated save for her her face.

She cried out for help but her attempts were futile and pretty soon her whole body was pixelated. In a flash of bright white light, the girl disappeared. Her new headset fell on her chair with a muffled thud and then, the room that was once filled with the girl's panicked screams fell silent...

...

Silence greeted Lucille as she slowly opened her eyes, a wide expanse of... white? spread out before her. 

It took her a few minutes to orient herself and sort out her emotions cus man was she a mess. her long black hair looked like she had run towards a tornado and somehow come out alive. She was wearing the most casual outfit known to man, a tank top and some sweat pants that looked like they were hand me downs from her grandfather.

Basically she was a mess both on the outside and the inside. After a few minutes of her staring into the white void that surrounded her,  a voice suddenly rang loud and clear in Lucille's ears : "welcome to the newest VR game,  Taflheim online, you are set to spawn in Daskar, a country to the north of the Taflheim continent. Before spawning, you are required to choose a race and *static"

Another voice interrupted the monotone voice that sounded like google translate, this one sounded more human, like it was talking to her  through the system or something like that "*ahem   Can you hear me?" the voice took on an inquisitive tone. 
Not knowing what to say, Lucille frantically nodded her head. Before she could ask any questions the voice went on:
"You have been transported inside of the Taflheim world due to unknown technical reasons meaning you are an anomaly in the system and if you don't get out now you will be attacked by the game's protection protocols! The only thing I can do is send you into the game! Good luck!".

With that, the voice stopped abruptly and Lucille was once again thrown into a world of black as she fell unconscious and was sent to the world of Taflheim not knowing what awaited her...

What happens when you like games and you get the chance to be inside one but there's one small molecular problem... you don't have skin, you have scales, you don't have nails you have claws...yup you're a dragon?!

Follow Lucille as she finds out WHY the heck she was sucked into a VR game that was on her christmas wishlist and slowly unravel the mysteries behind her reincarnation.

Long Yin woke up startled when she felt the bus stop. Apparently the combined fatigue from months of cultivation was enough to let her sleep until their arrival. After getting out of the bus they saw nine other school delegations, all standing at the entrance of gigantic sports hall that would host the competition. Aside from the schools there were almost two thousand spectators that came just to watch the competition.  The seats were filled until none were left. After the audience entered, it was time for the schools. Starting with #10 High, each school was announced one by one, the students entering while being led by their Headmasters. As the last of introductions was finished the organizers produced a gigantic matchmaking table, where all students from different schools were already randomly matched. 

As the Headmasters took their seats next to the Jury panel the Headmaster of #2 High laughed:
- Ha ha, Tang San, this year there's no Ouyang Bo while we have a peerless genius. The position of #1 High School will be ours. 
- Don't laugh yet Zhao Chi. This year we have a monster that even I am afraid of. 
- Intresting, I really want to see what type of talent it is that you praise it so much. 
You could see an ugly grimace on Zhao Chi's face. 

Without further delay the tournament started and contestants were called on stage in pairs. Truthfully, this stage didn't really matter as the matches were carefully selected using ranking lists, so that two geniuses capable of fighting in finals don't eliminate each other in their first match. The tournament was a double elimination bracket. Soon the 300 participants thinned in half, then 75 got eliminated turning the total participant numbers into 225, then another 75 got eliminated turning that into 150. At this point most contestants below Core Formation Sixth Stage got eliminated.  Long Yin's fights so far were nothing special, with each opponent getting flicked out of the arena perimeter, disqualifying them due to being out of bounds.While the organisation seemed somewhat messy, with uneven amount of competitors in both losers and winners brackets, it turned out alright, as two leftover Fifth Stage contestants dropped out due to inuries, leaving an even number of 148 students Core Formation Sixth Level or above.  Ten minutes later the matches concluded for the day, with another 74 students getting eliminated, leaving top 32 of each bracket for the day after. 

As they entered the hotel, Headmaster Tang ordered a quick war assembly:
- Everyone, good job today. You brought honour to our school, as there is still eight of you competing. Be careful tomorrow. Perform well and you'll be rewarded. 

Everyone went to sleep early, tired after a day of travel and fighting. Next morning they were all woken up by two powerful fluctuations. Apparently the fighting experience was enough to allow Fatty Hao and Rou You to break through to Core Formation Eighth Stage. Headmaster Tang was close to crying with joy. 

- Good, good, what good #2 High, let's see you deal with this. 

The fighters from all schools once again grouped below the combat arena, with eliminated students sitting on stands next to the commentary box eith two caster that would do a live commentary of the rest of tournament, since from now on there would be no more simultaneous matches. 

As always the matches started with lowest cultivation levels getting eliminated. Bored out of her mind Yin decided to watch an eliminated students that was playing the newest edition of reworked "DMC: Devil May Crap: Rebirth of Devil May Crap:DMC Reborn " on his portable PTSD console. Yes, apparently no one caught the faux pax of the console's name. Yin was baffled too. 

Anyways apart from short breaks to watch her classmates get eliminated, Yin spent the next four hours warching a guy die to trash mobs with an F- combo rating. Finally, just as she was considering taking the console away from the guy and beating all his high scores, she heard an announcment that made her perk up:

- Next match: Rou You of #1 High versus Lin Lang of #6 High

Long Yin looked at the arena, eager to finally see her friend in action, though it would be just a showmatch as Rou You was Core Formation Stage Eight while her opponent was Core Formation Stage Six. Rou You entered the arena with a training saber in her hand. 

'Huh? She's a saber user? I haven't seen her using saber even once during class spars, I thought she was a fist fighter.'

Lin Lang was a red haired girl, that looked plain and had a bunch of freckles on her nose. She looked enviously at Rou You, taking a moment to compare their looks, then smiled viciously. She pressed her hands together, activating metal plates on her palms that immidiately expanded into Iron Claws. 

'Huh, a claw user? She looks so envious, is she going to try to maim Rou You's face? '

Yin's thoughts were immidiately answered as Lin Lang lunged aiming with a scratch to Rou You's face. She was met with a saber thrust that she had to dodge, abandoning her attack. Annoyed, she tsk'd, then spat agrily:
- This time you got lucky, but let's see how you'll take this! Flaming Iron Claw! 

Rou You only smiled, before responding calmly:
- Cherry Blossoming in Fall. 

Her saber seemed to disappear, an illusion of falling Cherry Blossom leaves appearing around her. A second later Lin Lang dropped to the floor, her body filled with bruises and cuts, completely unconscious. 

'Are you serious? What saber art is that? Are you going to start screaming "Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi" next? '

Meanwhile the audience exploded in noise:
- Did you see that? She took her out in one move! 
- Screw that, did you see her attack? I swear I saw a cherry blossoms apear! 
- Me too! 
- Me three... 

A teacher quietly said:
- This... Peach Blossom Saber Art's Peach Blossom Saber Intent? 
- It seems so. #1 High really deserves its fame. 

'Hold up, Hold up! What the hell is Saber Intent? I swear when I checked if Intents existed the books said it was just a rumour based on fantasy books?'

She didn't have time to ponder, having to fill it under "Ask Headmaster Later" folder in her memory, as the next fight was announced and it turned out to be someone familiar:

- Next! Chen Hao of #1 High versus Zhang Shi of #2 High!

Lillian Ambers wasn't sure what would happen when she finally cultivated to the second boundary on Mordern Earth. Getting hit by a truck and reincarnated as a dragon in Huaxia Galactic Empire in a futuristic cultivation world definitely wasn't her first guess. Now she strives to reach the peak of the Universe...

... Wait a minute? Brother is a fallen genius? Exiled by the main clan? Father gone missing on a mission? Why does this sound like a plot of a cliché novel? And why does the Universe seem hellbent on killing her brother and letting someone else take over? 



Note: I have several ideas on where to take this so even posted chapters might be WIP if I decide to change some stuff to make more sense. I should have all the kinks worked out by chapter 40. Currently I'm thinking about additional chapters before ch 7.

Lying in his room with a book in hand a boy laughs at the words on the page. The book was the newest release to a light novel he had been addicted to – Lilith's Return. A story based on the life of a girl named Lilith who had been banished to hell and was making her way back into heaven. Through the events of making bad deals, and even worse mistakes she found herself constantly going one step forward to take two backward. The last novel had ended with her standing in front of the gates of heaven a step away from her goal.

"I shouldn't be surprised. After spending so much time in linear pursuit of her goal of heaven when she finally gets there she finds it to be no different than the hell she had previously been in. Unless something changes in the next few chapters, I can't expect this to be on shelves much more than a few hours from now." The boy tells himself while closing the book.

In a corner of his room was a bookcase filled with an endless number of books. Grabbing the whole series of Lilith's Redemption, he takes them off the shelf followed by putting them into a box labeled banned books. The room was filled to the brim with books making the boy look like a bibliophilic.

Wiping his hands together to get off the dust, he hears his stomach growl. Taking note of the time being noon he leaves his books to go make himself food. Making his way downstairs he enters a kitchen that unexpectedly was clean. The last he remembered was it being piled up in instant noodles cups and cooking books. Walking over the fridge he finds a single note hanging from a magnet, "You really should learn how to clean after yourself! Best of luck with getting into strategist school! –Demon".

Crumbling the note in one hand he rubs his temple with his other. Forgetting about his hunger he walks over the door, opening it to find the lock broken. "That's the fourth time this week!" He shouts in anger. For a moment, he was tempted to get a hammer and wood to board off all the windows but then he remembers that they would just break through without him awakening. He already remembers the smirk he had on his face when he had thought of the plan but when awakening the next morning he found a note much like this one that said, "Oh come on Aster, trying to keep little old me out? That hurts! You will need to do much better. –Demon" When reading it he was completely distraught wanting to hide in a thousand-foot ditch for the pride he had previously felt.

"The Demon again?" A guy asks from the other side of the doorway.

Aster only nods before walking over a closet in the corner of the kitchen to get a new lock. "If they only came and cleaned up after me I wouldn't care. I would have even thanked them." He says while walking back and kneeling down to unscrew the old one.

"But no, they have to steal a different book every time they come! Since the start of this, they have stolen 276 books! Who cares if the books are technically banned so I shouldn't have had them anyway, but the morality still stands of them being a thief!"

"You should be glad then, think about what the magic council would have done if they had found you with those books. Becoming a strategist would be the least of your worries." The guy pauses for a moment while Aster continues working.

Sighing the guy continues, "Then again knowing you those books mean more to you than the top school."

Having finished working Aster looks up to face the guy before nodding. "If I hadn't been cut off I wouldn't even stoop to going to school. Want some food?" Aster offers,

"What you got?" The guy replies following Aster through the doorway before closing it behind him.

"Yun, it the same as always, ramen." Aster answers while taking two cups of instant noodles from a cabinet.

Yun took the ramen from Aster before walking over to get a pot and filling it up with water. Walking over to the grill Yun lights the logs with a snap before placing the pot on top to boil. The so-called grill was only an iron basin filled with logs with a removable iron bar top.

"Whenever I look around this place I feel like I'm in a fantasy world. A world where there is no magic, the idea of innovation is what drives people to succeed not intangibles given at birth." Yun commented while watching a flame dance between his fingers.

"I think it's only we rely too heavily on the idea of our magic. It was only two years ago they opened a warrior academy that is comparable to the top mage school." Walking to a small rough wooden table Aster grabs a newspaper.

"'High Arc-Mage beats thousand-man militia from the southern country, Typrod.' The headline for the past week. Yet not mentioned is along with the thousand enemies are three thousand allies. The council sees the magic to be with without flaw, a gift from God as they define it. My family is one of the greatest offenders..." Aster explains before crumbling the paper into a ball and throwing it in a small iron bin in the corner.

Taking the ramen off the grill Yun pours them into two bowls while Aster rants like most morning. Walking over to an iron basin filled with ice Yun grabs an egg he had hard boiled the day before.

"...And they keep trying to take away all the books I adore! Freedom of thought means nothing to the council, only their opinions are allowed. If what I have predicted is correct it won't last another five years before a revolution turns the world on its head." Aster continues, he holds the council in great contempt. More so than anything else about them banning his favorite books.

"I could have you charged for treason just for those words alone," Yun added in a between a fork full of noodles.

"That would only expedite the time before the revolution. I would be their figurehead, so I wouldn't care. I have been tempted a multitude of times to turn myself in to do exactly that. The quickest way to change is to make it make every fault public, and with my background, I have the greatest chance of people believing me." Aster expanded in full support of being charged with treason for the greater future. Finally taking a breath he begins to eat.

"Why haven't you then? If you can sacrifice your life for a believed to be better future, why don't you?" Yun questioned,

Aster paused trying to collect his thoughts, "Because it isn't time yet. It will do more bad than good."

Confused Yun continues the line of questioning having paused eating with only his egg and a few noodles left, "What do you mean?"

"Do I get the egg if I explain further?" Aster questioned back, stabbing the egg with his fork,

"Only if I deem your answer satisfactory." Yun retorted,

Nodding Aster eats the egg before explaining.

"Hey!" Yun shouts,

"Can't have you going back on your word." Aster counters,

"Whatever, just explain." Yun concedes,

"Well, in a time of war what is most important?" Purposes Aster,

"Power, to wipe the enemies with a single attack! Simple." Yun answers with a smirk on his face,

"False!" Aster argues.

He continues, "Unity, a tyrant never stays in power because his own men turn against him. The council has been in power for twenty years and will likely only last five more years. During these next five years, they will be fighting wars against their own citizens and Typrod. If I join the rebellion it will take soldiers from the front lines against Typrod giving them a perfect chance to advance and turn the tides of war. I may win the battle against the council and get the rule I wish for, but it will be short-lived. What use is a country if I lose it all the next morning?"

"Unity huh? Nah power is more important. With enough power, none of what you said matters." Yun expresses,

Finishing his noodles Aster nods, "You're right with enough power, but in that same respect if you have enough bodies even an Arc-Mage will run out of magic leading to defeat. There is no such thing as enough power for there will always be another body to sneak past everyone and end the Tyrant's life. For that is a fate that is unavoidable, just the same the same way as the when two people act against the same target the one who acts first loses for the second person will stab the first in the back for greater power. Greed the greatest weakness of humans."

"Your plan is just as greedy as their own. You are no better than the people you detest. Greed drives you just as much if not more." Yun retorts having finished his own noodles,

"You're right, but you see I fight for justice and not power. I fight for the people. I fight for the freedom of books!" Aster counters,

"Of course, you do." Yun sighs not bothering to argue any further.

Aster was poor at explaining himself but his thoughts weren't wrong, unity is what wins wars, not power. Taking the bowls, he lays them down in an iron tub to be washed later. Hearing a knock at the door he rushed over without any hesitation. Behind there was the massager with multiple pieces of mail but Aster only cared about one single letter. Walking back to the table he lays everything down before hesitantly opening the letter labeled academy admissions.

No matter which school you applied to the council made all the decisions from one place so the letter on the outside was unmarked. Take a deep breathe he rips it open and take it out to read out loud, "Aster Curtail you have been admitted to the Warrior Academy. Congratulations! Your service after graduating will be welcomed on the front lines..." After a few lines, it finally clicks in his head,

"WAIT WHAT! I applied to the warrior academy?" He expressed his shock with a shout.

Ever say a single moment can't change your life forever? A Queen who wants to fight for her country and an Otaku who dreams to live his life reading books. Cutoff from his family he is forced to attend an Academy. Next time he should read the school he is applying to.
