Morning, 8 am.  

 

Mei Ling was getting ready, her luggage was already arranged she just had to put it in her car and she can go to the airport, but she just got a bit uneasy, the confident and successful Mei Ling was gone, it was as if she was just replaced by a teenager experiencing her first love.  

 

She didn't know how to react, should she just act as if the proposal never happened? Or should she outright refuse him or even acc-accept him?  

 

"Little Mei, it's late already, shouldn't you go?" Mama Mei's voice was loud as always.  

 

"Yes, yes" Mei Ling left her room, and quickly got outside, wore her shoes with her baggage and opened the trunk of her newly bought sports car.  

 

She bought it after she saved up money for nearly 2 years, it made her proud, she always felt that this car was the most comfortable, she dreamed of having this car since she was 5, it was the car that her father once drove.  

 

"Bye Ma" with those words Mei Ling drove off to the airport, but she still felt a bit nervous about what she will have to do when she will be in front of her boss.

Jack was also a bit nervous, His plan should be a success, after all, it was based on the advice his father gave Jack. He first prepared a 'romantic lunch', then after the business deal, he prepared a tiny vacation with Mei Ling, it should be 'romantic'.  

 

He didn't forget that he must drop hint to make her interested so especially for the occasion he prepared few books, those books are all romantic books with title like 'How to love for beginner', 'How to seduce for beginner'.  

 

He didn't know if he should ask for advice online, he never asked for advice for anything, he was the kind of person who will never turn to someone for help, well except his grandfather. He was the kind of person who will search for an answer in books so he bought books.  

 

"Richard, Eric is everything ready?" Jack with his icy cold indifferent voice asked his Pilot and attendant.   

 

"Yes, Sir Everything is ready, we prepared the Jet" Richard answered Jack. 

 

"The romantic things are ready?" Still with the same indifferent voice. 

 

"Yes, Sir" Richard face twitched a bit while thinking of the order the boss has sent him, this morning at 2 am.

 

"Bring me a coffee"  

 

"Yes, Sir" Both Richard and Eric left the room.  

 

Eric was younger than Richard, he was hired as an attendant, he got blonde hair with a stylish hairstyle, he had blue eyes. And he was strikingly attractive. Richard was older his face was bit stern, but same as Eric he got blonde hair with blue eyes, he served as a pilot for the father of Jack Adler originally, but after John Adler's death he took an important decision, he didn't want to choose a new client so he selected the son of his old client as his new client so he was chosen to be the private Pilot of Jack Adler.  

 

His bet wasn't in vain since the young Jack Adler successfully inherited Adler Corps.  

 

Eric whispered to Richard while they were making the coffee for their boss: "Oy, Old Rich, the Boss does he have a mistress?"  

 

"Stop talking nonsense, and go prepare the cockpit we must take-off at 9:15 am" Richard was saying as if the reproach the young man for gossiping. 

 

"But, the Boss never had a mistress, aren't you curious Old Rich" Eric whined at Richard he had an expression which wrote 'You really know no fun'.  

 

"Stop being gossipy, Miss Mei will soon come, as soon as she is on board we must take-off" Richard wasn't even looking at Eric doing his tantrum.  

 

At the moment Eric was looking at Richard as if Richard was an idiot. 

 

"Old Rich, there will be only 4 people on this flight, and the only woman being the Head secretary, who do you think this romantic atmosphere is for?" 

 

Richard started a coughing fit when he heard what Eric as said then he turned his head and saw the obvious look of Eric.  

 

"It can't be right?"  

"Who else?"  

 

At that moment the sound of engine outside could be heard as a car made its way beside the Jet.  

 

"Go prepare" Richard stared at Eric as he ran to the cockpit.  

 

Mei Ling with her huge baggage appeared at the door of the Jet.  

 

"Ahh Chilly, Eric get me hot chocolate milk thank you" Mei Ling dropped her baggage in the cabin and took out a stack of paper from a baggage.  

 

"Sir, I have prepared the contract for the Kazoku Corp" Mei Ling tried her best to remain professional but once again she nearly lost herself when she looked at the seductive eyes her boss made.  

 

She was then dumbstruck because it was the exact same eyes, he didn't do anything he just stared at her and she just lost herself in those two deep black pools.  

 

Jack saw Mei Ling enter the room with a stack of paper and talking but not one words entered his ears, only one thought was present inside his head 'Beautiful' and he just stared at her face. Then he saw her face turn red, she blushed until the tip of ears turned red, oh damn, is she seducing me? She is, right? It should be forbidden to look this cute.  

 

Mei Ling felt extremely awkward as her boss just stared at her without responding to her. She knew that he was a man of few words but right now she couldn't help but stare back into his eyes and just slowly lose herself, she felt her face turn hot under his stare. Ahhh she wanted to run away and hide.  

 

Why? He always stares at me like this, since when did his stare do me this?! It should be forbidden to have eyes like this!  

 

"Sir, Miss, Coffee and hot chocolate for you" just when she was about to escape, Eric's voice brought her back from fantasy land, she sighed a sigh of relief and made mental note to thank Eric later.

Grandson to Grandfather:" Don't worry, I will find someone myself"

Raphael watched his new master, who was blabbering non-stop, in a detached way.

'For the love of all the pasta in the world, couldn't they have added a function to skip quest nonsense like this? Just get on with it!' he thought with frustration.

"...And then we can get rid of that damned forest and pave a stone way directly to the mines!" Bires exclaimed with joy, having not noticed the thief's lack of enthusiasm. "Well, anyway, those are plans for the future. For now, I'm thankful for restoring my family's honor."

"You're welc–"

"Why, I can still remember as if it was yesterday." Bires interrupted Raphael. "He looked at me straight and the eyes, all full of life and vigor…"

Raphael quickly tuned out the talkative elderly blacksmith. The developers behind Origo had invested years into the proper nurturing of the system of stinted artificial intelligences that were in charge of every NPC. Of course, not all of them were as vivid as Ziah Bires, but it still pained Raphael how realistically NPCs sometimes acted. As the blacksmith chattered on in the background, memories of his deceased grandparents started surfacing.

'They were like that towards the end too. I remember going to visit and how conversations would just get derailed into the weirdest train of thoughts…, damn I miss them.' Raphael thought, opening and closing his fist. It was a tick he had developed in his previous life.

Suddenly, he felt something in his grasp as he clutched his hand. Opening it up, he looked down and saw a small token which featured two crossed hammers. Looking up, he saw that Bires had a disgruntled look on his face.

"What is it, lad, are you not pleased?" he asked, hands crossed in front of his chest.

Looking down at the new item, Raphael felt ecstatic, as he answered, "Of course I'm pleased, Master Bires, how could I not be!"

This was a treasure upon treasures! Membership tokens were something that was not very unique, but one that gave unrestricted access to a guild was definitely something that no player would even consider parting with. Guilds that were started by kingdoms and NPCs were very different from the player-dominated guilds that would soon start appearing. 

First of all, NPC guilds, or N-Guilds as they would be called, had their own separate and unique questlines, which were only available to members, while player-created guilds would only get random daily quests from the town where their headquarters was located. This was a great boon, as it often meant that N-Guilds offered more freedom of movement, as their quests were more about the needs of the group, rather than the needs of the region. For instance, a Leatherworker's N-Guild would often require rare ingredients, which players would have to find. This could take them to the other ends of the world, or the nearest market, depending on the situation.

Secondly, there was a clear way to advance in N-Guilds and climb their inner hierarchy. This was very important, because in most cases joining a player-lead guild would lead to needless drama and a lot of infighting, as being ranked higher meant getting more resources. This was one of the reasons why Raphael had never even considered to join a guild in his previous life, but N-Guild were a whole different story.

The old blacksmith snorted, a bit amused at Raphael's silly expression, as he said, "Good, had you said otherwise I would have pummeled you right here and right now. That token right there is the only spare one I've got and it'll let you skip most of the formalities that you'd typically encounter when first joining the Forger's Guild."

"Is this a high-level token?" The thief asked as he turned it around, viewing the workmanship from every angle. The token was akin to a coin, its edge ribbed and the prominent crossed hammers on one side. The other side looked to be clean and polished, but upon closed look Raphael discovered, that there were tiny magical runes written on its surface.

"Yes, it will give you the same perks as those that an Advanced Blacksmith could expect. Don't you dare lose it and whatever happens, never ever try to trade it."

Raphael knew about the restriction, but as he was curious to what Bires thought would happen if he did trade it, he muttered a simple 'Why', looking at his master with curiosity. 

"There's a protection curse against trading. The last person who did that was never found again. Well, at least not all of him," Ziah said, shuddering. "I think they did manage to scrape a few fingers off the sidewalk. Nasty business them curses, best to not mess around with 'em."

"Thank you for the cautionary tale." Raphael meekly replied.

"Think nothing of it. Now, since you want to be a blacksmith, you're in for a bit of reading." the old man said, happily unlocking a door and pushing the 'lad' into one of the adjacent rooms within the workshops, before turning around and leaving.

"Don't damage the books, I know where you live!" Ziah said with a creepy chuckle on his way out.

The room was filled with stacks upon stacks of leather-bound books, loose manuscripts and even the odd scroll here and there. Picking up one of the books, Raphael flicked through it. It was called 'The Just and Fair Knights of Ni', and it was a rather whimsical tale of a group of hermit knights that protected an enchanted forest, bending it and its inhabitants to their wills with sacred words passed onto them by their forefathers.

'Ugh, sounds like another one of those Knight in Shining Armor chicklits.' Raphael grimaced and placed the book in one of the room's corners.

The library, if it could be called that, looked as if it had been organized by a hobgoblin, which had been sniffing tree bark the day before. Heaps of books were on the floor and a wide yet narrow table, while only a few were properly arranged on the bookcases.

With a sigh, Raphael made his way to the only window and opened it up slightly, to let some fresh air in. The room smelt of mold and unbrushed teeth.

He crouched down and started rummaging through the books, carefully inspecting each and every one of them, before he started putting them in the one empty corner.

'Romantic novel with harems, romantic novels without harems, a silly story about a troll that fell in love with a rock…, why are these even in Bires' workshop? Is he a blacksmith or an old lady with cats‽ Not that there's anything wrong with cats, they're so cute and fluffy…' Raphael's mind wandered as he started upping his categorization speed.

Crouching down, standing on the solitary chair to get at a single book way up high, running from one end to the other, Raphael was like a gale, sweeping through the room as the books quickly found their way to their own little proper place.

The manuscripts and scrolls turned out to be Bires' own musings, a sort of disconnected diary he had kept on and off for the last year. Raphael had only made sure what they were, before he put them on the table and left them there. He did not consider prying into somebody else's inner thoughts to be a good characteristic.

After a while, everything was in its proper place, and Raphael was sitting on the chair, looking at a few books in particular.

"Well, who would have guessed that being an apprentice offered such perks!"

This beautiful line was probably done by Miss Margaret. It seemed the note was never sent out, so this Augustin did not know that Margaret loved him too. The unspoken love was buried here forever, never to see light again.
An image appeared in Angor's mind. Two lovers, who adored each other, could not express their love for some reason. In the end, a disaster came and separated them forever, leaving no fruit, but a wilted and priceless sentiment behind.
These notes told the brief but romantic story of two secret lovers. Unfortunately, the story did not have a happy ending.
Angor commented "how destinies fool people around" and put the notes back.
Angor was an outsider. The Nether City[1] was discovered tens of thousands of years ago, so the lovers' story had to come from that age as well, if not earlier. There was no point minding the grand finale of such an old story.
Nothing else worth noting in these letters. He needed to search the other places.
Angor checked around Margaret's room again. He did not find anything, but he had a question about some details in the room.
Ever since he walked the stairs and explored the rooms, most objects rotted away or decayed over time, apart from some special items.
However, he did not find anything like that in this room. The surface of the desk was bright and clean like new, and the silk blanket on the bed was smooth and comforting to the touch, which still released a mild fragrance. Even the more fragile items like clothing and make-up powders were in good condition as if Margaret was caring for herself just a moment ago.
Did time show mercy here? Or did the Nightmare Realm "projected" the place like this? He would never figure these out now.
Angor left Margaret's room and entered the other bedroom. Telling from the decorations, this belonged to the original owner of the "house".
Angor searched the room for quite a while without finding anything. Being someone who lived in a noble family for many years, he believed the bedroom of a big family should have somewhere to hide things. His deceased father had such a secret section in his bedroom to place valuables.
This was why Angor did not stop looking despite not finding anything in his first attempt.
In the end, he did find a secret passage.
It was located under the bed, hidden under a square cover. A deep and dark tunnel.
Angor crouched into the tunnel and reached a concealed place soon. It was narrow, about three or four square meters. There were a bookshelf and some unknown items inside.
This had to be a "hidden stash" of the owner. With a bit of excitement, Angor went to the bookshelf first.
There were three levels on the bookshelf, full of books. Angor picked up a random one called Comments on How to Extract Valuable Materials (1).
"An alchemy book… Teacher didn't have this one," Angor thought to himself and read several pages. There was deep alchemy knowledge in the book, intended for experienced wizards.
Angor took out some more books, which were all alchemy ones. Most of them were valuable, unique copies which could not be found in Sunders' collection.
He was filled with joy. Now, this was an unexpected treasure!
After recording all of the books, Angor realized they were more valuable than he thought. Some of the alchemy theories were only applicable to legendary wizards or someone in higher ranks. He was sure these books were beyond priceless. Whoever could have collected these?
After finishing the books, Angor walked to the other items with a happy mood. He did not know what these were before, but after seeing some of the alchemy information in the books, he recognized that these things were mostly related to alchemy applications. High-quality ones.
It was a pity that he could not take them away. For one, they might just disappear like all the other previous items. Besides, they were pretty large, he could not possibly carry them with him.
So he had to give up in the end. He was still happy about acquiring valuable books.
Leaving the bedroom, Angor stepped into the last room on the second floor.
The room was to the left. Angor knew that nobles tended to regard "left" as "important", so he was most interested in this room.
The first thing that came into his view in the room was a large bookcase.
Angor's eyes shined. The last room was a study!
The design was simple. One bookcase, one desk, several oil paintings on the wall. Angor rushed to the bookcase and opened its cover doors. However, he was disappointed after checking some of the books.
There were a lot of books. But… most of them were official files about the Nether City, such as construction approval documents, gardening files, books about the arrangement of main traffic roads, and city defense structures. These occupied the entire bookcase.
Angor sighed and returned the books. At least he now knew that this place was called the "Nether City", not the Garden of Labyrinth. At least that was something.
As for the owner of this place, Angor had an idea that he was a high officer of some sort since he took care of such important files. He might even be a core manager of Nether City.
These were unimportant though. Nether City was a bunch of ruins now.
Angor closed the glass doors of the bookcase and slowly moved to the desk. He saw an opened book and a quill placed in an ink bottle when he entered the room. Seemed like someone was writing on the desk.
Angor sat on the chair and read the book.
It was a notebook. The current page was half-finished. Its owner had probably left it here for some reason.
Angor flipped to the first page to check what was written.
The first line on the front page of the book surprised Angor for good.
Singularity Dispersive Meditation.
This was a meditation book?! And the first of its kind Angor ever saw in the Nightmare Realm. This was the center of the underground maze, so could it be the special channeling method book Sunders mentioned?
Angor became excited. If so, he would begin his path of wizardry with the help of this book!
He wanted to read on. However, his teacher's words reminded him that even if he memorized the book down to every single word in the Nightmare Realm, he would forget everything upon returning to the wizarding world.
Angor calmed down, and carefully photographed every page of the book with his hologram tablet. Once this was done, he finally sat down to read it.

Shirley woke up with a bright smile on her face. She glanced at the clock and found that it was only 6 o'clock. Despite being early she did not feel any fatigue but energized. She realized that last night's sleep was probably the most peaceful she had this past week. No wonder she was feeling refreshed!
She quickly completed her morning routine and then sat on the bed. She looked around the room and her gaze settled on the soft rug neatly rolled up in the corner. Without giving it a second thought she went to pick it up and unfurled it near the balcony. She decided to do yoga. It's been so long since she did that.
Doing it brought back memories of happy times. Her mom was fond of yoga and this was their daily routine. She would start her morning with mom doing ridiculous poses all the while her mom correcting her posture. She cherished that time and held it close to her heart. Her mom was a surgeon and had a very busy schedule. So that early morning ritual of theirs was the only do-not-disturb time she had with her mom.
Her dad was a writer and most of the time working from home. She would sit with him after finishing her homework and for hours they would talk about plots and whatnot. He would laugh at her absurd suggestions and sometimes would use them in his books. He always told her that she was his muse, his answer to all of his problems.
But little did she know that she might be correct with the later but the former belonged to her mom. Her dad loved her mom and every romantic line he wrote in his books somehow seemed for her mom. Big brother and she would hide by the door and closely listen to them when her dad would read lines from his books to mom, especially poetry.
She was never able to hold her giggles, leading to their discovery and faux reprimanding. Then they would sit together and would recite their favorite dialogues from his books. Big bro would imitate her father and she would mimic her mom and then another round of laughter would follow at their ridiculous actions.
But all of this changed after a car accident that took away everything from her. Their little family was uprooted and nothing was the same ever again.     
Shirley realized that it has been a long time since she reminisced those days. Remembering them would always bring an acute pain to her heart and she would be lost for days thinking why this happened to her family. But now, she felt a bit different. She was not sad and neither her heart was aching. She felt a smile tug at her lips thinking about those happy times.
Looks like, the wound that always remained seeping, unwilling to scab, was finally showing some signs of recovery. It felt covered by a thin layer of skin, fragile, an angry red, that reminded people of setting sun. Her wounds that troubled her for so long were letting her take a breather from all the pain.
Shirley remained lost in her thoughts but felt her body warm-up. Instinctively, she moved and faced the rising sun, eyes closed. She felt warmth spread starting from her face all the way to her toes. If anyone looked at her right now, they would not be able to take their eyes off of her.
She was radiant, under the golden rays, in a warrior pose. Her hands were not stretched sideways but raised over her head and joined together. It was like she was offering all of her troubles up above and asking for strength. Eyes closed, a small smile on her lips and those white workout clothes that cling to her like a second skin, made her look ethereal. She opened her eyes and felt the pleasant glare of the rising sun.
Her deep amethyst eyes shone brilliantly under the golden rays. She looked ready for the day.


Shirley was in a dilemma, she has two options, first, to trust her gut feelings or second, to wait it out.

Her instincts have never betrayed her but if she followed them this time, she was sure of her defeat. She can’t live in doubt. That is not how she lives her life. She gives her all or nothing. She has given her everything to this relationship. She has turned her back on rumors. And now, all of it has come to this point. It's now or never, she has never regretted a single thing in her life and she sure not was starting with this. So she took a deep breath and took the plunge.

Aaron was drowning in a sea of despair. He had declared her guilty in his own warped sense of justice by jumping to the conclusion. What he had thought of her betrayal turned out to be his misunderstanding. But what could be done now? She was gone, left without a trace.

How could he ever ask for forgiveness, nonetheless, a second chance when she is not here? Even if she was here does he deserve her forgiveness?

In the end, it was he who had abandoned her without giving it a second thought.

What will happen when destiny gives him a second chance? Will he be able to grasp it with both hands or let it slip like sand between his clenched fists?

Inside the car, Elaia was seated in between D and Arion. Talk about a very awkward atmosphere. 

As Elaia yawned due to exhaustion, D looked at her and said, "The journey will take about an hour. You can sleep if you want. The limousine is quite spacious."

Elaia nodded and offered D a small smile appreciating his concern. "It's okay. I'm not really that tired." 

"You can place your head on my shoulders as you sleep." D suggested.

Vainos snorted then said, "Is that how you hit on girls, Boss?" Then he continued chuckling.

D faced Vainos. "I don't hit girls. I'm a well-known gentleman." D responded.

The car went silent for a second then everyone bursted out laughing. 

Who would have thought that one of the most powerful Gods is this innocent. Akila and Vainos thought.

Akira then butted in and said, "Not literally hitting girls like punching them, D. It means like you're showing interest to the opposite sex in a romantic way."

Realization immediately hits D. He cleared his throat and then said, "I just read those lines in one of the romantic novel books of Akila."

Vainos chuckled then nodded, "I kinda already figured that one out." He then turned his attention towards Akila, "You need to stop being a hopeless romantic. Not a good influence to our boss here. It's not as if you have a girlfriend to practice those cheesy lines to begin with." 

Then Vainos gave a high-five to Akira. Applied cold water to the burnt area, Akila! 

"Well, it's not as if we're permitted to fall in love in first place." Akila mumbled.

Vainos and Akira went quiet. They know what Akila meant. Vainos and Akila, being servants of the Gods where they should commit their dedication and undying loyalty to their Masters. It means that loving someone else is totally prohibited.

At the quiet and awkward atmosphere that was starting to build up inside the limousine, Arion's phone went off. 

Arion immediately picked it up. "Doctor Arion speaking. Yes. Okay. Okay. I understand. Yes, of course. No it's fine. Okay. I'll be there."

As the call ended, Elaia asked Arion, "Work?"

Arion nodded and then asked to Akira who was driving, "If it's not a hassle for you, can you drop me at the Silver's Hotel? There's an urgent matter that I need to take care of."

Akira nodded. "Not really. Being a doctor can be a pain in the ass huh?"

"Yeah. But it's call of duty." Arion responded.

As they reached the Silver's Hotel, Arion asked Elaia, "Is it fine for you to go there first? You can come with me then let's go there together after my work if you want."

"No. I'll be fine. You should get going. I'll just wait for you in the Grand Canyon village. Stay safe." Elaia said.

Arion nodded, "I will. You too." Then he rushed inside the hotel.

Once Arion was out of sight. The journey towards the Grand Canyon resumed.

"Ahh. So tired of hiding my wing!" Vainos whined. 

"Me too." Akila said. 

Then as if on cue, a white wing popped out at the left side of Vainos' back and a black wing popped out at the right side of Akila's back. Yes. Wing. Not wings. One wing for each one of them.

Akira then giggled at Elaia's reaction that she saw through the rear view mirror, and said "Would you look at those ugly butterflies."

Elaia is a sickly woman, in her journey on figuring out the exact date of her death so that she can prepare her loved ones, she met Death himself. 

What if Death's first love is someone he doesn't want to die? Oh, the irony.


There were few customers in the pet shop in the morning. After cleaning up the shop, playing hide-and-seek with Galaxy, and training Zhan Tian on the green field, Zhang Zian had been reading posts on the forum. Time always passed very fast when he surfed the internet. Nearly an hour had passed after he had browsed the posts on the first and second page of the forum.
The Spring Festival was approaching. Now was the busiest period before the Spring Festival. Students were taking the final exams. The office workers were fighting for the annual bonus, secretly planning whether they should hop to another company after the Lunar New Year. There were few pedestrians on the road. Some elderly people were happily pushing carts to buy groceries for the Lunar New Year because when the Spring Festival arrived, many businesses would close their shops. After running their shops diligently for a year, the business owners also needed to take a rest during the festival. 
Zhang Zian did not need to visit friends and relatives during the Chinese New Year, so he would not need to go shopping for groceries. During the Spring Festival, his pet shop would operate as usual, and he would strive to sell more pets to children since they would receive lucky money from their parents and relatives. He looked at the time and was thinking of going upstairs to remind Pi to rest for a while. At that moment, a car stopped in front of the entrance to his shop.
This was a brand-new BMW sedan with a bright, shiny body. It seemed that it was a vehicle that was registered not long ago. Zhang Zian had never seen this car before. 
Through the window glass, he saw two stylishly dressed girls sitting in the car. Normally, Zhang Zian would look at these attractive girls for a little bit longer. But since he knew these two girls, he could not do that. Speaking of the devil. He was just talking about them. He whispered to himself. 
The two stylish girls were Zhao Qi and Shi Shi. Liu Sanlang was responsible for driving. In addition to the three of them, there was a medium-sized Labrador sitting in the back seat. It was the one that Liu Sanlang bought from Zhang Zian's pet shop. It's funny that this Labrador was wearing a red sweater, which made it look awkward.
Zhang Zian knew that the three of them worked for the same company, and that Liu Sanlang was courting Shi Shi on a regular basis. Why did they come to the pet shop together during this work day?
Liu Sanlang got out of the car and enthusiastically opened the car door for Shi Shi in the back seat. Shi Shi looked at her cell phone from time to time and did not get out of the car. Zhao Qi, who was sitting on the other side of the back seat, got out of the car with her own pet carrier.

Zhang Zian approached and looked at the car. He was a complete amateur to the car industry and asked, "How much was this car?"

 Muntenia
               Wallachia was divided into two districts Muntenia (Greater Wallachia) and Oltenia (lesser Wallachia), this division occurred in 1419 when Vlad Dracular gave away the secrets of his people. Death plagued the country and corpses had bite marks on their necks. At first Gnats were blamed for this disaster, or curses according to the gypsies divination
Dracula in his drunken state had told them otherwise. The identified blood suckers were expelled to Oltenia and with Anne's dark magic and spells. A rift was created and at her bidding black stones were poured into the rift in great quantities.
   The black stones were powered by the moon and made it impossible for the vampires to cross over. For once,the people of Wallachia were indebted and
grateful to the so scorned gypsy. But notwithstanding, the moonlight nights were approaching. Without the moon, the black stones were powerless and the vampires unleashed their horrors to the mortals.
   The marketsquare was the busiest place in Muntenia. For the rich elite in the society, it was rowdy. Bells jingled erratically as sellers sang to attract buyers to their wares.   "Sweet roses for your
sweetheart "....There were tents and booth owned by gypsies for their fortune telling and a snake charmer stood at the end of one, displaying acrobatic skills with a black cobra and the gathered crowd watched with glee and horror. Two gypsies gossiped about the approaching nights of horror
           "Those hunters efforts will be futile as usual "The other trembled "We have our charms,

           "Useless, we just sell them for money, we all are at the mercy of the almighty.... "the word 'daredevil' froze on her lips and she just sighed. The thought of him alone made them quiver. They both stared as Peugeot pulled up and a young woman alighted, clutching her purse in an alarming speed, she made way through the crowd. A dark eyed woman chased
after her screaming
                  "Draga, wait! "
The young woman turned to her
  "Louka, will you stop calling me 'Draga' "
              Louka smiled, happy she had caught her attention.
      "You re my Draga"she retorted with undisguised adoration "Wonder why you dislike your birth name and choose to bear an 'Eng--lish ' name "Impatiently she thrust wads of leu into Louka's
palm. Giving Louka money each time she visited the marketsquare was now a tradition. She turned and continued walking at her usual flurry paces.
               "Draga!"she mused. She was  her father's Draga. Her eyes grew teary at the thought of her dead father.He alone had the right to call her that! He gave her that name because she was his girl.. Loucas Adam's darling. Darling was the most common
endearment in Wallachia.Everybody was someobody's Draga. But she was sure when other people called her that, none meant it.
         She pushed at the entrance door of the library. Her entry was accompanied with stares as many heads were strained to glare at her. And almost immediately hushed conversations began. Smoothing her silky apparel, she walked straight to the librarian,
ignoring the contemptuous look directed to her by the librarian's plump daughter.
    "Good day, Ms Balan I'm here for the books I ordered for "she said smiling warmly. The books her maid Elene, would never touch, so she had to come for them.
          Ms Balan smiled back as she turned to get the books, Elizabeth nodded to the young woman despite the disdain written boldly on her face.
"How do you do, Maria "
Maria snorted in reply as she studied Elizabeth why didn't she have such skin, as smooth as alabaster or lips like red wine?It was indeed sinful for anyone to be as beautiful as Elizabeth Draga Fleming, the younger woman thought eyeing her enviously. She was by far her rival for Sergius, the most eligible bachelor. It was no secret that Sergius lost interest in her after spying the violet eyed girl
in front of her.
         Ms Balan returned with the books wrapped in a bag. Her eyes sad as she wondered why such a beautiful girl would be interested in horrific books and not the romantic like other ladies were.
     "The book of the dead "Maria shrieked ensnaring people's attention.
         "Such horrific books are Elizabeth's favourites "she drawled mockingly. Ignoring her statement
Elizabeth fumbled with her purse for money. Maria's expression turned into greed at the wads of money being held out to her.
    Besting her mother, she snatched them, then sarcastically whispered "Draga mea "
 Outraged, Elizabeth glared at her
   "Don't say such words carelessly, l'm no darling of yours! So call me Elizabeth "she retreated stressing the Elizabeth.    Maria huffed
"Nonsense! What's Elizabeth? "eyeing her flaring curls, she growled scornfully
    "Elizabeth must mean 'the devil's daughter ' "
     "No! "a voice came to her rescue and Maria studied the speaker with a mixture of admiration and pain. He had a finely featured face and a sturdy attractive body.
            Avoiding Maria's heated gaze, he continued
  "Dr Fleming named her after
his beloved English queen Elizabeth Tudor I"his hand reached to touch her curls "Because of her infamous red hair and his inability to pronounce 'Draga ' "
   The harridan sniffed contemptuously
     "Where then comes her strange hair? Bet my life that she got it from hell "
          This outburst was followed with giggles and whispers. Elizabeth could hear some
muttering
         "Heard she was expelled from school because she is possessed by demons!"
    "legions of demon indeed! "
 Maria struck the last jibe
    "Now she writes books about demons! "
   Elizabeth felt a flush rise to her cheeks, her violet eyes flashing in anger. Seeing those turbulent eyes, Maria backed away to a safer distance. Tracing the cross sign
over her face she retorted icily
 "Eyes of a witch "
   "Silence! "the man who had touched her curls snapped. A hush silence ensured, It was apparent that they were afraid of this speaker. Draped in guns, he surely inspired fear. Clutching her arm, he led her out.
      "Considering the numbers of exotic libraries in Bucharest, I wonder why you are here " He snarled.
Her chin rose up arrogantly
 "I get the books I desire here! "she stomped her feet. Already knowing the 'desired books ' he asked no further questions.
      Placing his hands possessively on her waist he pressed a kiss against her cheeks. And she stiffened at his embrace, he felt it and smiled sadly, it was expected. Elizabeth was just too frigid. He stared down into her face, even though the day was hot, the heat
rising from her body was sweetly scented.
   "You should stay away from Maria, Draga mea "...his calling her 'my darling'infuriated her but she let it pass.
     "I don't understand her hatred of me, Sergius "
    Sergius swallowed the knot of apprehension clogged in his throat, apart from the jealousy that Elizabeth was far more beautiful than her. He was responsible for
the incensed hatred.
   "Why are you here? "she curiously asked.
    He smiled flirtatiously "I came to get this.. "he revealed the bouquet of roses hidden behind him. At her admiring glances he added
  "..For you.. as an encouragement. How is your book going?  you know how we hunters adore your works "
      She grinned, an act that spread warmth to his heart.
"Because it spills most  secrets of the vampire "
  He ran his hands over her fiery hair "You are so talented"
   He glanced away, unable to meet her clear eyed gaze. He had betrayed her trust countless times, spreading horrible rumors about her to any pursuing admirer 'she's cursed 'he would tell them 'I know her too well 'he would add with a speculate gleam  "she's an insane whore, plagued by demons "Then
he would grin victoriously when their interests turned to disdain.
    She turned to wave as her Peugeot pulled away. With a smug satisfied grin, he thought 'I'm the only one for you now, or you'll die an old maiden, Draga mea "
