Half of the calm day passed by in the blink of an eye.
From morning to afternoon, everything pretty much went on as usual. The store was busy, and there were people walking in and out. 
Following the end of Dog Warrior's airing, the fever brought on by the movie started to wane, too. But Famous would never be forgotten by people. It would only fade until its next movie blew up the box office again.
Zhang Zian ran back and forth between the two shops, helping clients choose their pets at the pet store one minute and helping the clients at the aquarium with their man-made decorations the next minute. Even his lunch time was really late in the afternoon. 
Just because aquariums were slow moving goods, that didn't mean they would be a burden. Their profit margin was relatively high since they were usually sold in a whole set. With the aquarium machinery, corals, sand, and aquatic animals sold in a package, they could usually sell them for thousands of dollars. 
After he finished his lunch, it was already late afternoon. This time period was usually the quietest in the shop. Everyone was resting, and very few people came in at this time, even the ever zealous reporters. Besides, the weather wasn't too good today. It had been cloudy for the whole period, and the threat of rain hung over their heads, so their customers were even fewer.
Wang Qian and Li Kun were playing mobile games in the corner. Lu Yiyun was focused on her drawing with Jasmine in her hands. Due to the fact that there had been too many customers recently, her illustration work had been piling up. Jiang Feifei next door was chatting with her classmates about employment, exams, love, and gossip—such topics that university girls liked to talk about. Even though she wasn't that interested in those, it wouldn't be good to seem too uncooperative. 
Even the elfins were all napping. It was quiet in the room. 
The ever-carefree Vladimir wasn't in the shop either. Who knew where it had gone? But that was a common occurance too. 
Seeing that there was nothing much to do in the shop now, Zhang Zian planned to return upstairs to take a nap and recharge his drained batteries. 
Even the second floor was quiet. There were no sounds coming from the bathroom. Sihwa might still be asleep too. 
"Pi, don't always sit and stare at the computer. Everyone's napping, so you should too. Resting never gets in the way of doing productive work." Zhang Zian sat on his bed, getting ready for his nap. 
But Pi didn't reply to him with its usual "Cheep cheep," and neither was it focused on typing. Instead it stared at the computer, spacing out. 
Sensing that it seemed a bit off, his desire to sleep completely dissipated. He stood up again immediately even though he had already lay down, walking over to it to ask, "What's wrong, Pi?"
Pi looked up at him, lost, and pointed at the computer screen, helplessness filling its eyes. 
Zhang Zian took a look. The Chinese version of the Qidian Website was open. There were many fixed "Recommended" spots on the website. The more visible the spot, the more effective the advertisement—that, he already knew. 
He thought initially that something had gone wrong with the website, but it seemed to be working normally.
"What is it, Pi? What's wrong?" he asked again.
Pi finally came back to reality, taking the mouse to click on the author's platform. 
There was a message from two days ago, saying that at 2 p.m. today, its work would be put onto one of the "Recommended" slots on the website, and for it to continously update. If there was anything urgent, it should contact the editor in charge.
He looked at the time on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. It was already past 2 p.m.
Pi went back to the main page again. 
This time, Zhang Zian finally understood. Pi's book should have showed up on one of the recommended pages, but those spots were all taken by other books. 
"Cheep, cheep?"
Pi gestured, meaning to ask, "Was there a mistake somewhere?"
Zhang Zian pulled a chair over, double-checking the time in the message and the novels on the "Recommended" slots. He gave it a thought before consoling Pi. "Pi, don't panic. There might be some delay since it's only a little past 2 p.m. Maybe your novel will only be updated later."
These situations could happen occasionally. There were too many novels on the website, after all. Hundreds of thousands of books were updated every day, and the change of novels in the "Recommended" slots had to be personally done by the editors and staff. It was entirely possible that something might have happened to cause the delay. 
Pi nodded, accepting his explanation, but it still continuously refreshed the webpage, its eyes staring at the position where its book should be appearing. 
Zhang Zian had completely lost the urge to nap and sat by it, chatting occasionally, hoping to at least soothe some of its anxiety and uneasiness. 
But even after half and hour of waiting, there was no change on the webpage at all. 
Pi got more and more panicked, and even Zhang Zian couldn't sit still anymore. There was a limited time they could have the "Recommended" slot, after all. They couldn't just sit there and wait like idiots. 
"Pi, contact the editors," he suggested. "Didn't the message say to contact the editors in case of any emergencies? Besides, the editors are there to help authors with their problems."
Pi still hesitated. 
"Then I'll contact them for you."
Zhang Zian knew that it was not familiar with interacting with people, so he volunteered to accomplish the task. 
Pi jumped off the chair and waved its hand, asking him to sit before the computer.
Zhang Zian found the picture of the bald monk in its list of contacts. This was the editor in charge of Pi. Every editor had a few hundred authors under their care, and they were bombarded with work every day. They didn't have time to chat with their authors, so Pi tried to not bother them.
He drafted a message summarizing the problem, subtly trying to hint at whether it was a mistake made by one of the staff, and asking them to take care of the issue on its behalf. 
After the message was sent, he consoled it again. "Most likely it's a member of the staff that missed it and forgot to put your novel up. We should be able to solve it soon."
Pi nodded, but it was still nervous, and it couldn't help but feel that it wasn't that simple. 
Not too long later, the bald monk's photo lit up, and the ping from the message box rang from the speakers.
"There's a reply!"
Zhang Zian and Pi both perked up, immediately clicking on the message to open it. 
The thing that shocked them both was that the editor didn't reply to them with words or emojis. He had instead had sent a photo over. 
What was with that?
Zhang Zian opened the photo, puzzled, to look at it more clearly. 
The photo was taken with a phone. It was the front page of a newspaper. 
He knew this newspaper. It was the most influencial newspaper in the entire country. The main headline was clearly printed out: "Ten Criticisms of Online Writing."
Zhang Zian and Pi looked at each other. What was with the cryptic message?
Even though they hadn't understood what was going on, the issue was clearly on this newspaper. 
The photo wasn't too clear, and it didn't show the whole article. 
Zhang Zian patted Pi's shoulder, comforting it. "Wait here. I'll go out to buy a newspaper. I'll be back. Don't worry, the world isn't going to end."

"Who’s this beautiful girl sitting across from you? Are you on a date?" Chiaki turned to Yukari and smiled.

"I’m Yukari Asamiya, from Year 1, Class 3." Yukari was no longer smiling; there was a sharp look in her eyes as she faced the tomboy. Hello, it's nice to meet you... You don’t know me, but I know you two, Chiaki Wakaba... and Mika Uehara-san."
"You know us?" Chiaki's smile faded when faced with Yukari’s imposing manner.
"Yes, many people know you... the two good friends that are often by Harano-san’s side," Yukari said lightly, placing extra emphasis on ‘good friends.’
Chiaki's smile looked rather forced, and her eyes shot sparks. Yukari looked directly into Chiaki's eyes, radiating an imposing aura.
Mika remained silent; her eyes swam with a wistful look.
Seiji was rendered speechless. Was this... the legendary hellish battleground between women? Why did it become like this!?
It wasn’t difficult for him to come up with the answer. He only told about the date... whoops, the time and place of the meeting with Yukari to one person.
For Chiaki and Mika to show up here precisely at this time, it was highly likely that they received information from that person.
Even though it might have been a coincidence, Seiji felt that... this was most likely the case.
‘Shika-chan...’ He felt somewhat conflicted as he thought about how his adopted younger sister had probably created this situation.
He was about to speak up and say something, but the purple-haired girl beat him to it.
"Since we coincidentally met here, why don’t you sit down together with us? You two are Harano-san’s good friends, and I've wanted to have a good chat with you, so this is an excellent opportunity."
Yukari’s words were very direct; they didn’t seem to contain any trace of falsity at all.
Chiaki blinked at this. ‘As expected of the ‘Princess,’ she mused.
Just this short first meeting with Yukari caused Chiaki to understand why Yukari had a nickname which she could only inwardly exclaim at.
‘Mika, you have such an incredible opponent.’ Chiaki glanced at her good friend before sitting down at the table.
Mika sat down as well. Both of them ordered coffees from the waiter that came by.
After that, everyone remained silent for a little while.
"I was just chatting with Asamiya-san about light novels... what we felt about them after reading," Seiji said, breaking the silence. "When I was purchasing light novels at the bookstore, we coincidentally ran into each other, and I learned that she was also really fond of light novels, so we arranged a time to chat about them."
"I see... I thought that you two were having a date, but in the end, it's just communication between friends about a common interest."
Chiaki strongly emphasized the last few words of her sentence. It was a counterattack against Yukari.
Yukari smiled faintly. "Indeed, Harano-san and I have some common interests. I’m very happy about this and had lots of fun chatting with him earlier. By the way, Wakaba-san and Uehara-san, do you two like light novels? What novels have you read?"
Yukari made another stab. Her riposte was rather difficult to deal with for Chiaki.
If she had to answer, she would say, "Of course I like light novels," but her passion was only at a normal level. It was probably not even close to Yukari’s or Seiji’s level.
Chiaki wasn’t aware just how much Yukari liked light novels, but she could sense her imposing manner, which seemed to say "You two aren’t even close to being on my level."
The purple-haired girl’s eyes revealed self-confidence and resolution, and she was surrounded by an atmosphere which wouldn’t be shaken by anything whatsoever.
‘I can’t just answer her like this and let her control the flow.’ Although this thought passed through her head, Chiaki didn’t know how she should answer.
"I don’t like light novels," a voice said calmly. It was Mika. She looked at Yukari and answered her question calmly.
This was the first sentence she had spoken since entering the manga coffee cafe, and her response surprised Yukari.
"That’s because I’ve never even read light novels before, and only learned about them recently, so I can’t say that I like them," Mika continued. "But... I like the light novel that Seigo wrote," Mika said in a resolute tone, looking towards Seiji.
"Harano-san wrote a light novel?" Yukari was surprised yet again.
"Yep. Seigo didn’t tell you? His story was published in a magazine, and Chiaki and I both read it and thought that it was great." Mika looked towards Yukari and smiled.
There seemed to be a strong force behind her smile.
"I really enjoyed his short novel, and the only drawback was that I thought it was too short; it wasn't enough for me to read at all. I’ve already become Seigo’s fan. In the future, I’ll read anything that Seigo writes, and I’ll like his other stories as well." There was a passionate fervor in Mika’s voice.
Yukari’s expression changed as she noticed Mika’s passion.
Chiaki also noticed and inwardly exclaimed: ‘Mika... you really have changed. In a good way.’
Chiaki was proud of her friend’s growth.
Seiji also felt Mika’s passion and was slightly moved. "Mika..."
"Seigo, I’m really looking forward to your next novel... before you finish your new novel, could you recommend some good stories to me? I’ll read them all." Mika said that to Seiji as her face began flushing red in embarrassment.
Even though she had matured, some things were still the same. She still became shy easily.
She was relying solely on her willpower to not be surpassed by her opponent. She expressed her true feelings confidently and without hesitation. After she said these words, her instinct to be embarrassed reasserted itself.
‘So cute.’ Seiji felt that the shy, embarrassed girl in front of him was rather cute and couldn't help but feel moved
"Okay... I’ll give you some recommendations; I hope that you will enjoy them," he said without thinking.
When he regained his senses, he discovered that he had already given her a promise.
Both Yukari and Chiaki saw how he reacted. The purple-haired girl’s expression turned slightly grimmer, and the tomboy inwardly whistled.
‘Nice one, Mika!’
This helped ease them into the topic of conversation, and the most importantly of all, it attracted Seiji’s attention.
This was a victory.
However...
"It’s wonderful that Uehara-san is willing to join us light novel fans in becoming one," Yukari said. "I’d also like to hear Harano-san’s recommended light novels, and see if there are any differences from the ones I would recommend, and we can chat about these."
The purple-haired girl instantly reorganized and continued her attacks.
Chiaki scrutinized Yukari’s expression and judged that she was just the same as earlier; her imposing manner hadn't decreased in the slightest.
‘As expected, she’s an incredible person.’
They continued to chat, and the girls exchanged many verbal spars.

When Seiji finally left the manga coffee cafe, he was in a happy mood.
At the very beginning, it seemed to him like this place would transform into a hellish battleground between women, but that seemed to disappear after they chatted a bit, and everyone seemed to be having fun... on the surface.
Yep, on the surface.
What about in actuality? Seiji didn’t know, nor did he want to think too deeply about it. To him, he had fun chatting about light novels, and that was enough for him.
After this, he figured he would go around with Mika and Chiaki and find a place to eat lunch together.

"Asamiya-san, I had fun chatting with you today. See you next time."
"I had fun as well. Let’s have another coffee together sometime. See you later."
Mika and Chiaki smiled as they said goodbye to the purple-haired girl; it was as if it had been decided from the very beginning that they would split up after leaving the manga coffee cafe.
Yukari kept her smile. "It was great to meet and chat with the two of you; you’re both really nice people... I look forward to our next meeting."
The three beautiful girls exchanged smiles; it was a beautiful scene for any bystander.
Only Seiji, who was close to them, felt as if he could detect something invisible clashing between them in midair.
‘It’s just my mistaken impression, yep, nothing but a mistaken impression. They’re just saying friendly goodbyes to each other; there’s nothing else to it.
'But... is that really the case?’ a voice asked from the deepest part of his heart. ‘Just what am I supposed to think of it then, bastard!’ Seiji shouted in his mind.
"Harano-san..." Yukari called out to him softly, snapping him out of his daze.

Hi. Thanks for dropping by. Please bear in mind that I am a new author, and English is not my first language. I am writing because I find it enjoyable, and am only now finding the courage to actually pen it out for others to read.

This is a rebirth story of a girl who had lived one life, and will experience another. Follow her along her journey of discovery: of herself, as she walks an entirely new path. Yet, at the same time, she seeks to find closure from her old life. 

World background: Current Earth, with names of countries being just Country J, Country SA etc. 

First, the MC is the typical OP character. Second, it's a slice of life story mixed with OPness of MC. If you don't like Gary Sue / OP characters, with a slow story pace, then this is not for you. 

There are elements of adventure/action, romance, some comedy and a little bit of mystery.  It is also a story about friendship and the bonds we make as we grow up.

He knew he must keep very still while he waited for his soul to settle. He had just managed to find the Orb Of Immortality which was the last thing keeping him from attaining godhood. The young man closed his eyes, trying to remain calm while willing every muscle in his body to not move an inch.

Slowly but surely, the Orb began to glow and levitate. His servant gasped, causing him to mentally frown. He'd tried his best to hide his true nature since he was born by becoming the most powerful and beloved hero of all the lands, but this stupid girl always annoyed him.

"Master, master, you're really doing it!" She exclaimed with a bright and innocent smile that would melt the hearts of even demons. Even with his eyes closed, Asmound could sense the pureness that seemingly radiated off of her. He hated it. He hated her. He hated everything she was, is, and ever will be.

'I just wish that annoying insect would die and be someone else's problem.' The Young man thought. The Orb quickly began to increase in its glow, which caused the girl to jump in excitement. "Master, Master! You're doing it, just a little further, you can do it!" The young man was confused, but assumed the girl was just cheering him on like a moron as usual.

Once the glow filled the entire cave they were camping in, the young man's eyes suddenly snapped open, as he realized what happened. He rushed towards the Orb to quickly destroy it before it could fully activate, but it was too late. The Orb exploded, sending a wave of absolute death to everything in the cave, and consumed the young man's soul as payment.

Stray struggled to open his eyes, feeling as though he'd been asleep for centuries. Eventually he managed to do so, and instantly was confused. Last thing he remembered was Andy pointing a gun at his head and pulling the trigger. After that, Stray found himself in a void for a few minutes, and woke up here.

Although his entire body felt sore, the more it moved the quicker the pain subsided. Looking around, Stray saw he was in a cave that was charred black, and there was an unnerving skeleton nearby that was sprawled on the ground. Looking at his own hands, Stray found not the scarred and burnt fingers he knew, but flawless and soft fingers that still had fingerprints. 

He saw on his torso an expensive looking armor that was mostly dark brown with golden trims, on his waist was a blue belt with gold outlines, and his were a spotless white with red at the back. Around his collarbone was a hood attached to the armor, that was white on the inside and the fabric had a heavenly smoothness. A genderless, monotone voice broke through his curious thoughts.

Stray thought about the various options and tried to remember what all the main characters in his favorite novels did at the start. Some checked for starting packages, others their status, and a few looked at the store or explored the world first. Stray sat down and leaned his back to the wall of the cave, deciding to ask the system as many questions as possible.

After about three hours, Stray ran out of questions. Basically the Store focuses on using Divinity as currency, Divinity being gained from being worshipped, selling things to the store, or gaining it from the Gamble section. Status just displays everything about himself, including his stats, physical inventory, current spells, and how much Divinity he has. Inventory is like a separate space that is infinite, but cannot hold living things that aren't from the Store.

Letting out a bored sigh, Stray decided to get up and leave the cave. According to his Status, he only had 1 Divinity, and felt it'd be depressing to see what the Store could offer without being able to feasibly get anything. Outside of the cave was a forest, and the cave was actually part of a large mountain.

It was almost pitch black outside, which annoyed him, but Stray chose to explore rather than wait until tomorrow. It didn't take long for his foot to get caught by a root, and Stray landed face first into the ground. Getting up, he was angry and confused as to why his face hurt so bad. 'System, what's my HP?'

Letting out his frustrated mood through a long sigh, Stray treaded onwards through the forest. He eventually found his way out of the forest, and saw a town about a half a mile away.  Looking at the ground, he saw a dirt road that led straight to it. Stray was about to walk along the road when the System spoke up.

"Athletics!" Once those words left his mouth, Stray felt the skill activate. Taking a single step, he looked back to find he reached 90ft with one step. This newfound power filled Stray with glee, as he moved at high speeds towards the town.

The guards at the entrance suddenly saw a blurry figure rushing towards the town, but knew it'd be too late to sound the alarm bells. The two of them stood in front, pointing their spears towards the approaching figure. "HALT!" They yelled in unison. Once the figure was about to reach them, it stopped, revealing a familiar young man.

Maybe a young daoist like you has never heard of the term "advertising"? It's a quite simple and easy task, but getting people to actually read your story is something else. Here's a few tips on how to provide a source of entertainment for anyone interested.

1. Comments

Let's say you're on a story like "Transcending The Nine Heavens" and see a few comments enjoying the story. You should comment something like this:

"I like Transcending The Nine Heavens too! The update per week is soo slow though. I'm working on a similar story called "Insert Cool Xianxia Name" with a chapter per (you choose) and it currently has (please don't advertise with 5 chapters). See you later, fellow daoist. 

With this comment, you have indirectly said 'Come to my story, add to your library and give me power stones.' without actually saying that! Foolproof technique.

2. Social Media/Discord

If you haven't joined Discord, I recommend you do! You should then join the official Webnovel server and Inkstone Writing server. Using a legendary technique crafted by me, you will be able to get more viewers.

Open Discord > Webnovel > Start Interacting

This one requires a lot of skill, as not every starving daoist can actually communicate well. Fear not! This will hone your skills, give you an idea of what authors and readers are like and open new gateways to creating your own server for your novel. 

So basically, don't shamelessly advertise to advertise on Discord! Only do it when the moment is right and casually mention your novel. 
TLDR: Don't be so pushy! A man just wants to read..
3. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

This is only for the most desperate and starving daoists. It is seriously not recommended to torture yourself like this unless absolutely necessary. After all, who would want to let the world know they write on Webnovel? Just one look at it gives a 'weaboo' vibe and will scare most narrow-minded people off. But, if you have willingly chose this path, it is expected you know what judgement stems from it. 

You should casually mention you write something and have a friend check it out. Make sure you're not writing a scene where the MC gets his head chopped off on the first chapter or that will scare some people away. Here's a good way of saying this to your real life friends:

"I've been thinking of getting into writing, and I'm writing on a website called Webnovel. My story is called 'The Dao of Filler' you should check it out! I think you'll like it."

If you were not profusely sweating while saying that sentence, good on you. Let's just hope your friend won't be absolutely shocked when they read the absurd titles of popular novels and quickly close the tab...

So he recommended him for direct tutelage under an experienced abbot within the temple. Luke was very excited about his new life as a trainee monk in the temple.

This was the second turning point in Like's life. Turned out, the mysterious man was one of the last cultivators that still existed on Earth. Due to pollution and industrialization, Earth has been declining in spiritual energy for thousands of year. In the distant past, the multiple civilizations created methods to harness spiritual energy. Lu Chan described it as the mutation of the pineal gland which was an actual organ in the human body that controlled the secretion of some hormones like melatonin. This mutation was found in maybe one person per thousand in ancient times. Only some of these people were able to use this mutation to sense the spiritual energy that surrounds us and manipulate it and perform supernatural feats. Lu Chen then told Luke that he is one such person. Lu Chen was searching for a successor for his lineage but he only had a daughter. He offered that he will pass down every technique that he knew to Luke if he married his daughter and took his surname.
 
Being a modern man, Luke was somewhat averse to being forced into a sudden relationship with someone, but his curiosity got the better of him and he agreed to meet his daughter. When he met Yiyi Chen, Lu's daughter, it was love at first sight, for both of them. Any lingering resentment for the arranged marriage went up in smokes and Luke began a happy marital life as well as a new journey in the realms of the supernatural.
 
Three years later the couple has their first child. It was a boy and they named him Mike Chen. On the day of his birth, there were some auspicious signs that very rarely happened in the modern era. Lu Chen was very excited as this meant that his grandson could be a genius in the usage of supernatural powers. He took him away from his parents just after he turned one year old despite the strong opposition of Mike's parents. Lu Chen ignored his daughter's tears and went into seclusion in an unknown mountain range. Here Mike Chen grew, away from civilization and in the lap of nature, one of the places with the highest concentration of spiritual energy. He stayed there and trained in martial arts, Chinese medicine and crafting. His grandfather taught him every technique he could get his hands on. In two decades, Mike read almost 10,000 scriptures and mastered multiples supernatural skills like Iron Shirt, Ying-yang eyes, Iron Palm etc. 
 
When he turned twenty years old, his grandfather passed away. Now that he had no reason to stay in the mountains, he decided to descend the mountains. Before his death, Lu Chen gave him an official identity and an obscene amount of money, enough for him to live the rest of his life. Most of them were hoaxes but there were many that were truly relics of supernatural beings. Meanwhile, he picked up the habit of reading martial art novels online. He was amused by the various Xianxia and Xuanhuan novels that tried to depict the lives of supernatural beings but were clearly written by normal people. He was very intrigued by the decisions that the protagonists made as ridiculous events one after another were forced upon them.
Our story begins on Mike's forty-first birthday. It was also Mike last day on Earth.
