Everyday I do the same thing over and over again. Like a cycle. 

It's boring.

So boring...

God! I wish someone would entertain me!

He's now part of my everyday routine.

"Mmmm…. I'm awake."
Unlike normally Mai instantly awoke when she heard her roommate call out to her, excitement was clearly visible on her face as well as Venessas. 
Today was the day.
Outside on the usually empty practice field stood countless horse drawn carriages currently being organized by the countless teachers that would be accompanying the academies students, even as the sun had barely risen above the horizon they had been working for a while to undertake the momentous task that was the yearly expedition. But a lot of people normally present for the expedition were nowhere to be found, knights and monster hunters normally instrumental for such an operation were not needed this year, instead thin presences moved around the caravan, barely noticed by the most experienced mages and knights along the teachers.
"I wonder what is currently watching over us?"
"I think we're better off not knowing.. Anyway do you have the manifest for this carriage?"
Still even if some of the teachers that had noticed what was going around them, most of them knew not to stick their nose into things that should not be seen, after all they were experienced fighters that had lived way longer than the average in their professions. Knowing when not to ask questions and when not to advance deeper into a dark cave were important skills they would undoubtedly pass on to the countless students under their care.
"Good morning Dax! Are you also joining us on the expedition?"
Having prepared for the trip the day before Mai and Vanessa quickly grabbed their already packed bags after waking up and made their way to the practice field were they to their surprise found Dax in what looked to be travel gear. Instead of the normal teacher uniform he normally wore Dax had the simple attire of a pair of black shorts with loads of pockets and a simple black t shirt that seemed to somehow fit him way better than the normal teachers uniform.
"Yeah I'm in charge of the first years that will be cooking and maintaining camp while you 2nd and 3rd years will be having classes in the wilderness, so we might not see each other so much."
"I see.. Still having you with us on the trip will be very reassuring."
"Mmm, we'll go to our carriage now, see you later."
Sensing that their teacher still had more things to do Vanessa quickly dragged her friend away after saying their initial greetings.
"Honestly that child.. She should just bother us adults as much as she wants, after all that is what childhood is."
After greeting Dax Vanessa and Mai joined up with Mare and made their way to the classes carriage.
"Good morning girls!"
"Morning Rudy."
With his usual enthusiasm Rudy greeted the girls loudly before changing the topic like the energetic youth he was.
"Did you hear!? Lux is the teacher assigned to us!"
Doing the academy expedition a teacher would be assigned to each class and be with them at all times, even when another instructor was teaching them something else, for security reasons.
"Of course."
The only one not surprised about that was Mare, having a bit of insider knowledge.
"That's how it is, sorry about that."
Having overheard their conversation Lux took a short break and went over to talk with her students, well most of her took a break.
"Umm Lux is there something different about you?"
"I don't believe there is."
"Really?"
"Yes."
The reason for Mai's increasing confusion was that Lux didn't stop her work even as she talked with the students that now just looked at her awestruck, with the exception of Mare of course. Lux's attire didn't look all that different form Dax's, she also wore a pair of black shorts with countless pockets that each seemed to have some unknown purpose, and a gray t shirt. Other noticeable features of her outfit was the black mask that had a bright white skull painted on which was strapped to her belt, and some sort of metal tail which extended from her back serval meters to where it split up into multiple parts holding a checklist and pen respectively.
"This is really not that strange is it? Dax's right arm is clearly mechanical in nature and I'm sure most of you have caught a glimpse of the academies new guardians over the last few months."
As Lux explained her metal tail put down the pen and checklist as it retreated back to Lux and formed a seat she learned back on while continuing to talk.
"I will be completely frank, this world you're so used to will be changing faster than it ever have before. Those of you here that will become knights and mages will notice that change first, but eventually all of you will see the new world that is currently forming behind closed doors. You are all at the dawn of a new age. Now board the fucking carriage and let's get going, we're slightly behind schedule."
After getting the students of the class she would be overseeing to board their carriage before she grouped up with Terra and Dax for a final pre mission briefing.
"Is everything in order?"
"Yeah."
"Yes sir."
Seeing the confidence in his student and subordinate Dax formed a thin smile that remained on his face for a fraction of a second before returning to the role of commander.
"Good, from this point onwards information blockade #4 is no longer in effect."
(COMMAND REQUEST ACKNOWLEDGED, WAITING FOR XO CONFIRMATION.)
"Lieutenant general Lux Jameson confirms, gag order #4 no longer in effect."
[BIOSIGNATURE OF C.O. AND X.O. CONFORMED, ALL UNITS ACKNOWLEDGE NEW OPERATIONS STRUCTURE.]
For the first time in well over a year ICI cold and synthetic sounding voice was picked up by outsiders, in this case it was the other teachers that were standing a bit away from Dax and his group.
"Then let's get this show on the road, this time around we're the security detail for the yearly academy expedition. I will handle the Reapers, Lux will be on specter duty and Terra will be observing as part of her training."
""Yes sir.""
"Good. Then let's get this fucking picnic over with. ICI form up Reapers on me, disable cloaking."
[ORDER CONFIRMED. DETACHMENT 2, SQUAD 1 FORMING UP ON COMMAND IN OPERATIONS PATTERN YELLOW.]
At Dax's command 4 Reaper drones emerged seemingly out of thin air around him taking up formation as they vented out extreme amounts of stored thermal energy from their internal heatsinks.
(This really is the dawn of a new age.)
Picking up a rifle while she put on her facemask Lux was greatly amused by the surprised teachers.
(No more hiding, no more backroom deals. From now on we can fully display our might.)
"The age of the galactic empire has started on this dirtball of a planet."
Sensing Lux's smile from under her mask Dax returned the bloodthirsty smile as he was handed a rifle.
"Area security established, let's move out!"

After crash landing in what turns out to be a fantasy world, the orbital marine Dax will have to fight the powers that
occupy the world to reclaim the technology that got stranded along with him and eventually repair his crashed ship
to return to his own world.
On the way he discovers the rule breaking power of mana, a special particle that seems naive to the world he now
is a part of. Feeling seriously outgunned Dax places a priority on regaining his lost weaponry that is scattered
throughout the world, ranging in size and effectiveness from electromagnetically powered assault rifles,
powered exoskeletons and autonomous drones from the size of a spying UAV to heavy assault ships.
But the marine is not alone in his search those weapons, the powers of the world he now finds himself a part of is
quickly realizing that something outside their realm of understanding has graced the planet and that those artefacts
trapped inside large floating black sphere’s hold vast strategic value. Dax is then faced with a complex problem,
he must secure the technology that he needs to leave while at the same time make sure the tools of war from his world is not misused at the cost of being made a target by powers he fails to fully understand.

On his way Dax will have run ins with various powers, some of them hostile, some of them a bit more amenable to persuasion and mutual cooperation. After all, what is a knight, king, angel, demon or grand wizard to a railgun or even a tactical class high energy laser in orbit?

They’re soft targets.


For the record, English is not my first language, so there might be some spelling/grammar mistakes here and there. I’ve been getting better at writing over the last year or so, and have plans to go back and edit my old chapters, but it’s really hard to find the time.

When Mr Wilde gave out cards, only two of the three children understood what they were for. 

"What's this?" Alex asked. 

Scarlet giggled in response. "It's a travel card, silly."

Alex blinked. "Why do we need travel cards?"

Mr Wilde was patient. He had a long discussion with his wife the night before about how much freedom they should allow the children. Now that they were ten, it was about time to give them some responsibilities to ease their transition into  young adults. Jasper and Scarlet had no difficulties stepping up to it, but they were slightly worried about Alex.

"We don't have that many  servants in Singapore, so you will have to learn to act as Singaporeans while we are here. Of course, if you get lost, you have your phones. Claire will give you directions from the phone, but all three of you need to learn how to travel using the public transportation system. Daddy has checked, the public transportation system here is very reliable. This is special training for when you have to go to a different country in the future."

Alex was stunned to hear such seriousness but when she saw that Alex and Scarlet didn't think much of it, she kept quiet. After resolving herself to become better so she can become a sister that Scarlet could be proud of, the Wilde princess was less wilful and tried to become more independent. It was more difficult than she thought it would be to become less reliant on others. She never knew exactly how much Jasper was helping her until she did it herself. Having to pack and carry her school bag all by herself yesterday was a highly stressful event. Alex didn't know where anything was and didn't have a checklist to tick off the items she packed so she had to redo it multiple times to ensure she didn't miss anything out. As if that wasn't hard enough, Mr Wilde was even expected her to travel to school without a chauffeur. The Wilde princess could only resign to fate and accepted the card.

Mr Wilde was proud of Alex when she took the card without complaints. Scarlet and Jasper wondered how they were going to maintain the balance of their cards, but neither of them dared to voice out the question. Claire noticed the troubled expressions and found it adorable.

"Master, perhaps you would like to explain how the travel card works. I'm sure the children would love to know more about how the system in Singapore works. From my knowledge, only cash is accepted for buses back in Malaysia." 

Mr Wilde nodded and explained the concept of the card. Scarlet was fascinated by the level of technological difference between Singapore and Malaysia. The card was easier to use than expected. With this, as long as it has credits inside, they could go just about anywhere on any train or bus. Also, there isn't a fuss about how much change they should bring because it is automatically deducted just by a tap on the scanner installed at the train gantry gates or on the bus upon boarding or exit.

"I will maintain your card balances monthly so if it falls below twenty dollars for whatever reason before the month ends, please let Claire know. Don't lose it."

The CEO didn't say much more and allowed the children to research how to travel from the penthouse to school. He was slightly worried about letting three children travel by themselves without any adults to supervise, so he had Sue secretly follow them when they left the next morning. Still, the patriarch couldn't help but wonder if he should have engaged professional services and placed bodyguards to follow his children discreetly from a distance.

That night, the three children turned in early, excited about starting the first day of school. Alex was very nervous about travelling by train as she had never been in anything other than a car, save for that one bus trip to Scarlet's old house. Jasper knocked out like a light, tired from such a long day, and Scarlet tried to update her blog.

Ahoy Scurvy Scums!

How is it going for you? For me, it's been quite the week. This entry is going to be dedicated to the best kind of sister in the world - the soul sister.

Let's call this soul sister - Sister Merry.

Sister Merry didn't start out as a soul sister. There was some really bitter rivalry going on that resulted in an all-out brawl. Now, don't judge so quickly! Let's listen to the full story.

Sister Merry was initially friends with Sister Kelly (I made their names rhyme a little). The two were best friends and inseparable. One day, an unfortunate event occurred. Sister Kelly's parents had to go to a faraway place and little Kelly was left to the care of Merry's home.

Merry's parents treated Kelly really well. However, Kelly was afraid of becoming a burden and getting thrown out by Merry's parents so she did her best to be the most well-behaved kid in the entire world. 

Kelly wasn't originally well-behaved and Merry knew that. They were best friends after all. After Merry saw her parents praising Kelly for being such a nice child while she got scolded for pulling mischief that the best pals would normally do together, Merry felt betrayed.Her loving parents were turning hostile on her and favoured her new sister.

Things escalated and the best friends turned sisters fought. In the heat of the moment, Merry accidentally hit Kelly in the head, causing her to bleed. Merry's parents rushed Kelly to the hospital. That night, little Merry starved because everyone was too worried about little Kelly in the hospital. In all honesty, that wasn't intentional. It was a children's fight gone wrong but nobody listened to poor Merry. The adults thought that Merry was a horrible child whose jealousy had gone too far to be considered harmless.

When Kelly found out that Merry was getting punished for hitting her, she immediately went to beg Merry's parents for leniency. Initially, Merry hated her for continuing with that good girl act but when Kelly admitted that she only put on an act due to her insecurities as a child who wasn't born into the family, everyone opened their hearts. To make Kelly feel belonged, Merry made a pledge and the two became soul sisters after burying the hatchet.

It was nearing eleven at night when Scarlet typed the last word and finished editing the post. She yawned and scheduled the post before climbing into bed. So much has happened over the last few days, the blogger simply forgot about Claire's heads-up about the new person she was about to meet.

At age 10, Scarlet Liu Xiu Wen was tested with a Mensa IQ of 156.

By age 12, she was publishing books with the pen name Permanent Frost. By age 14, she was a successful vocalist-composer in the band called Britannia. By age 16 Scarlet had a successful career as a model and actress going by the stage name of Liu Xiu Wen.

However, there was a secret that the world didn't know. Away from the limelight, Scarlet took on yet another persona online as Pirate S - the eccentric half-genius. Everyone who lurked in the forums knew her name. Known for her unusual takes on life and mostly popularly for her "Human Observation Diary" blog, Scarlet enjoys the nerd life in secret.

Human Observation Diary has always kept to a very standard format but one day, a reader pointed out that the blog has recently been differing from its usual format. Intrigued by the trigger, Scarlet investigates her latest human observation - an online NEET by the name of Jedd77.

From further interactions, Scarlet finds herself helplessly drawn to him. As their friendship develops into something more, Scarlet has to make a choice.

The next day, after the Qi woke up and do their usual morning routine and all of them went to school. They went through their day like normal but with two additional people going home with them, Aden Wong and his little sister. 

Once they reached the mansion, An let Adrianna to stay in Mia's room while Aden will have Mark's room. Matthew quickly went to clear away his dead sibling's things and put some of the stuff in his own room and put the others in his own parent's room. The two siblings unpacked their things and went downstairs. When they saw only Ken there they divided to explore the house. 

Meanwhile, the twins decided to find out what happened three years ago and who was the one who tried to assassinate their whole family. So they immediately started hacking. They first hacked the cctvs in the mansion to see. But it was so dark that they could only see shadows.

They saw one shadow inside every adult's room, sneakily trying to attacked but all the adults were already awake and was readied with a weapon with them. So when the first moment that the shadows was going to attack, they got up and defend. They then started yelling the others awake. The twins at that time was still awake and when they noticed that someone had intruded. They immediately got up and went out of the room. When they heard the adults yelling, they ran out of the house hiding behind the bushes in the garden. They saw a few more shadows fighting with their aunts and uncles. When they were ghetto nearer to them, they quickly ran towards the forest and escaped. The fight continued in the mansion Matthew and the others escaped while the others were slowly killed one by one trying to protect them. And because Ben was running to slowly, he too was killed. Matthew, Liam, Leo, Ken and Zen ran towards the forest and escaped. The shadows all killed everyone in the mansion and left after they were done. When they were done. It was only midnight about somewhere near 1 in the morning.

The twins watch the fight through the cctvs. While watching, they cried. After they were done watching, they were determined to find who killed their family. They kept rewatching trying to find any clues. They then noticed that one of the shadow cams to close to one of the cctv and exposed their logo on his clothes. The logo was a X with two knives across the letter. The twins then start searching on the internet to find what the logo means. They then found a website about the logo. 

It's a assassination association website named X. It's a secret website but it's famous.  Until now no one knows what the X stands for. But it has done many successful assassination that were against the law. But the police still can't find it since they have to find the place. But every time they found the location, they were never there since they changed their hideout. And for some reason, they managed to change every time the police found the location. And only a handful of people knows where the hideout is. But that are very loyal people and wouldn't sell out the location.

After the twins read about this they pursed their lips thinking that this case will be very troublesome. Just finding the hideout to find out who was the one who requested them to kill the Qi family is already very troubling. Then finding the information will be even worse. The twins read all their past locations.

Three years ago from the time after the incident, they were at Diakom centre, then Diakom river, then moonkom centre, moonkom hill, Starkom valley, Starkom centre, Sunkom cave, Sunkom centre, Skykom Centre then the last found was Skykom village. And each time they changed, there were always at least one incident about assassination, after one incident or sometimes two, they changed their locations again.

After the twins read it, they then thought of visiting one of the locations. But they then think again and noticed that they wouldn't have time. And they also don't want the others to know what they wanted to do so they have to do it secretly. They then went out of the room and gathered everyone and made them start their training until 9pm. After that they had their dinner and went back to the room to bathe and sleep. 

The next morning, they did the same morning routine again and woke everyone for school. Since today was the last day of the Kungfu competition. So they went to school earlier than usual. But they ran to school as always with the two addition Aden and Adriana. When they reached the school, they were right on time before the school gate closes. They then went to the classroom and continue their classes but 1 hours before it was time to go home, everyone went to the hall. And they sat in the floor. Principle Long went up on stage.

"As you all know that today is the last day, we're going to announce the final results and give them their prizes. Let's start with the tenth placed, Ashton Lee.", said Principle Long 

Ashton then stood up and went on stage, he received his prize, then he stood at the end of the stage with his prize in his hand.

"Ninth place belongs to Aden Wong.", said Principle Long 

Aden then went up and did the same with Ashton and stood next to him.

"Eighth place, Zacken Long"

"Seventh place, Liam Qi"

" Sixth placed, Matthew Qi"

"Fifth place, Leo Qi"

"Forth place, Ken Qi"

"Third place, Zen Qi"

"Second place, Han Qi"

"And last but not least, An Qi, first place", announced Principle Long one by one.

As their names were called, they slowly went up to receive their prize one by one. After they received their prized, one of the teachers, took a photo of all of them together with the principle only after that they could go back to their seats.

After they were done, it was already time to go back home so they all went back home to wash up. Then they decided to go to the cinema to enjoy themself. After they finished watching the movie. An made everyone start packing their things for a few days, since they need to start going to Starkom. And she decided to bring everyone. After half an hour, everyone was done packing. And she start bring them to the forest. And bringing them across to Starkom.

Both siblings were determined earn back their family fame. But how are they going to do it??

The morning sun's ray illuminated a room inside the house of the Fauxe Village's chief. A young teenage boy got up from the bed inside the room and started stretching. 

This boy was Cecil. 

Beside the boy was a wolf that had also just woken up from its slumber. This was none other than Silver, who was transported to this world alongside Cecil.
 
The two had already been staying in this village for a little over a month. 

During the past few weeks, they hadn't been lazing around. 

In the morning, Cecil and Silver had their usual training routine at the backyard of the chief's house. The chief of the village was named Zaki. He was a muscular golden haired and golden eyed kitsune. 

The people of this village were beast-kin that were known as Kitsune or Foxmen. 

The daughter of Zaki, the person who had brought Cecil to this village was called Lucia. She was also Cecil's first friend from this world. 

During his stay, Cecil had gained substantial knowledge of the world he was in, the most notable thing was that Cecil had finally learned the language of this world through his studies with Lucia. 

He was now able to hold a normal conversation with other people and it was to the point where it came out fluently just like with him using Earth's language. 

Of course he still did have trouble reading, but it seemed he would be able to be fluent after another month or two.

After getting to the back of the house, he started his training routine with Silver. By the side was a young female kitsune who was out drying clothes. 

This was Anna, the village chief Zaki's wife and Lucia's mother. When she saw the two going about with their normal routine she smiled and called out to them.

"Good morning, Cecil. And you too Silver."

"Good morning, Mrs. Anna."

"Raah!"

After greeting her, Silver and Cecil continue with their training. After an hour into the training, when the sun was rising even further into the air, a young kitsune girl walked out of the house. 

When she saw Cecil and Silver training, she ran towards them intending to join them on their routine. This was Lucia, after she had witnessed Cecil and Silver's bizarre training method for about a week, she had also decided to wake up early and join them, not wanting to be left out. 

Of course, she couldn't wake up as early as Cecil and Silver, but she still joined them even if she was an hour late.
 
Seeing Lucia joining them, Cecil started to help her with the training and exercise. The training was still one that they normally did back then on earth. 

In the eyes of Lucia and her family, although it was a strange way of training and exercising, there were some similar training methods even in this world, so it wasn't all that surprising.
 
After they had trained for another hour, they made their way into the house all sweaty and tired. 

The 3 quickly went to the bath room to bathe. Of course, Cecil had to wait until Lucia was finished, but Silver went in with Lucia. 

This was a normal occurrence. Lucia was the main person in these past few days that gave Silver a bath. So they went in together to save time. 

After the two finished, it was Cecil's turn to bathe. After the 3 finished bathing, they went to the kitchen and had breakfast along with Lucia's parents. 

Ever since he came to the village, this was the daily morning routine for Cecil and Silver now. 

After breakfast they would normally go out with Lucia and hunt and scavenge in the surrounding forest for animals, herbs, fruits and such. 

The only thing that changed from the first week was that from the second week until now, they started adventuring deeper into the forest to look for monsters to fight. 

Cecil had wanted to keep fighting them in order to hone his fighting skills. Lucia was against this at first, but whatever she said didn't seem to move Cecil at all. So in the end, she was forced to tag along since she was already with them. 

After doing this for over a week, she had already integrated this with her normal routine. They came back to the village at around an hour or so past noon. 

They had lunch back at Lucia's house and continued with Lucia giving Cecil lessons about the language and various other topics of this world. The lessons lasted for 1-2 hours. 

After the lessons, Cecil had the idea of helping out with requests and work around the village. Cecil, Silver, and even Lucia started taking the requests of the villagers and completing them. 

Some of them were to help villagers with farming, foraging, herding and other miscellaneous tasks. 

Cecil thought this would be a good idea to do, since he didn't want to be seen as a burden and a freeloader to the rest of the villagers. He wanted to pull his own weight and the village chief Zaki, respected that and gave him permission to do exactly that.

While he was here, he had met up with other young kitsune boys and girls. Most of them were curious about who the person Lucia brought home with her the other day. 

It was a relief for Cecil that he hadn't been bullied or anything, but that might be because of the presence of Silver that had kept following him around everywhere. 

Because the activities that Cecil and Lucia were doing around the village during the afternoon, it had turned into a kind of trend for the other children and teenagers of the village. 

The past few days, the work around the village had grown fewer for the party of three to do precisely because the other kids had started following their example. 

This had earned Cecil and Lucia the praises of all the other adults in the villages. Not only did it lighten the work the adults had to do, it also gave them more time to invest in other activities. 

Activities like hunting for animal meat in the forest or trading with the town located in the direction north of Faux village. 

From the main path Cecil and Lucia had first taken in order to get to the village, they had to turn the other way around and continue walking towards that direction for around half a day before getting to the town called Forest Hill Town. 

As the name suggests, it was a town that was built on and around a hill that was surrounded by a dense forest.

After doing their work around the village, Cecil and Lucia always came back to the house before evening to have dinner. After having their dinner, they would take a bath and Lucia would continue teaching Cecil about the world's language and letters. 

Only this time, she would focus on giving Cecil actual practice by letting him read simple books that were found in the library of the house and hold a conversation with her.

This was Cecil's daily routine after coming to this world.

After finishing his breakfast, Cecil was now sitting on the couch in the living room, thinking about what he was going to do for the rest of the day.

"Hmmm…"

"Cel? What're you thinking about?"

Lucia plopped down next to him and asked Cecil what he was pondering about.

"Let's not go into the forest today, Lulu."

"Hmm~ Why~?"

"Let's just study magic and geography for today, there's a lot I want to know."

"Okay, Cel!"

Lucia replied happily. 

It seems she was happy that they wouldn't need to go deeper into the forest today. 

Of course, it wasn't that she was scared or anything. By no means was this kitsune girl weak. Lucia was pretty agile and she even knew magic. That's right, magic. This world which was called Alterna had magic. 

In the air besides the elements I know of, there was an additional particle called 'mana'. This 'mana' was something that the people in this world could use to conjure magic. 

There were many different types of magic. Elemental, shadow, light, darkness, void, nature, summoning, space, etc. 

There were even race specific magic, the pale blue fox fire and illusion magic that Lucia uses was an inherent magic that was the characteristic of the fox-type beast-kins.

The 'mana' that was omnipresent was accessible to all forms of life, even sentient plants could use it. 

Cecil was all hyped up when he found out that magic was accessible to everyone in this world, which included Cecil himself, an otherworlder.

Cecil only found out about this a week prior. It was when he first saw Lucia use magic. 

It happened when they were exploring deep into the woods and a treant, a sentient plant-race in the shape of a tree, suddenly attacked Cecil. 

It was the first time Cecil had ever saw one so of course he was caught off guard. 

'I mean seriously, who the heck would be wary of a friggin' tree? Right?' 

So the person who came to Cecil's rescue was Lucia. She used the fox fire magic and repelled the treant. It seemed that the treant was wary of fire so it had backed off and turned away. 

Cecil was thoroughly surprised since Lucia didn't continue with the fight. It was only until after the treant went away that she explained to him that plant-race life forms were especially hard to kill, sometimes to the point of them being undying. 

This was because as long as their roots or any part of their bodies that was able to suck in nutrients and mana, weren't destroyed, they'd be able to live even if they were slashed in half. They'd only regenerate quickly after receiving any type of wound, so it was best to avoid a fight with them. 

Repel them, but never pick a fight with them.

They were mostly docile anyway, the only reason the treant attacked Cecil was because he tried to cut off a branch from it to turn into firewood. 

This was a lesson to him so next time, he'd better start talking to the trees before chopping anything off. Better yet, it would be much safer if he just picked up the branches or twigs from the ground than piss off a plant-race creature. 

After coming back to the house, Lucia started to explain to Cecil about magic and the different races of this world. It was truly an eye-opener for me.

The different races and life forms of this world were abundant. Lucia even told me that sometimes earth and rocks could gain sentience and become earth elemental life forms, stone giants, and even earth titans. 

The same goes for the air and water, though it'd be harder for them to actually come into being, compared to rocks and earth. Even places that had an abundance of fire could produce fire elementals, but they were confined in places with fires and a lot of heat such as volcanoes, underground areas with lava, etc.

As for magic, since Cecil couldn't use the fox-type magic he couldn't practice it. But Lucia did give him the basic know-how of how to build up mana inside his body. 

It was just a breathing and meditating technique that had him focus his mind on the surrounding mana in the air and guiding it into his body while storing it inside his abdominal area, otherwise known as 'mana point' in this world. 

It sounded like a Chinese cultivation thing Cecil had read in the novels back on Earth. 

If he was able to store mana inside his body, he would be able to start using magic! 

Although, he could still use magic by manipulating the mana in the air, probably because he wasn't from this world he couldn't understand what or sense the mana at all. After all, Earth was a mana-void planet.

After attracting and settling mana into one's mana point, the state of mana in one's body could also reach a peak and transform from a particle gas to a liquid then from liquid to solid. 

This world would classify this into the initial, intermediate, advance, master, and perfect stage. 

Initial Stage means that the person could only use the mana in the surrounding air to conjure magic, this type of usage was the weakest and most people, even in this mana abundant world, would stay at this stage. 

The Intermediate Stage is when a person was able to guide mana and store it into their bodies entering what was called the mana vapor stage. Magic used in this stage is visibly stronger than when used in the Initial Stage.

Advance Stage is when a person is able to gather enough mana inside his/her body and condense it into a liquid state. This stage was called the mana sea stage. 

Master Stage is when the mana sea inside the body is abundant in volume to the point the mana was able to gather together and compress into a solid state, this stage was known as the mana core stage. 

Finally, the Perfect Stage is when the mana core inside the body could manipulate the mana in the surrounding air naturally, as if by instinct. The feeling was somewhat like having the surrounding mana become a new organ or limb for the person. This way the person is able to form a cycle with the mana in the air, practically giving him/her free better control and usage of mana. 

For some races, they already have a high affinity with mana so the last stage would automatically be applied to them when they enter the Master stage, only the size and density of the mana core being not as strong as a person who was properly in the Perfect stage through bitter cultivation and training.

After entering the Intermediate Stage or Mana Vapor Stage, a person would now have access to using spells. 

This would mean that the person had an affinity with mana higher than the average person and he/she could become a Spellcaster. 

Spells and magic in this world had a difference. Although they had similar meanings, but magic was used widely by everyone. For example a normal person, meaning someone who was only at the Initial Stage, could produce fire and water out of thin air. Summon a breeze or dig a small pit into the earth. 

But only Spellcasters could create and develop spells. 

Examples are like a spell that summons a fireball and shoot it with high velocity at an enemy, a spell that condenses an ice spike in the air and impale things with it, or even spells that manipulate the winds to be as sharp as a sword and cut at an enemy or harden the ground into a wall that could block arrows and blades.

Unlike the stories, Cecil has read back on Earth, the usage of different magic elements in this world wasn't limited, everyone could use all of the different elements of mana, but some tend to use the magic element they have the most affinity with. 

Most people would be limited to having good affinity with just 1 or 2 elements, while some very talented people would have good affinity with all 4 basic elements. 

The most frightening of talents had affinity with the basic elements and the extra elements. Extra elements are the type of magic element such as Space, Illusion, Demonic, Holy, etc. 

There are many different types of spells in this world, some are inherent while others have already been perfected and systematized by previous generations of Spellcasters and researchers. 

Of course, the systematic spells could be learned by all people who have entered the intermediate stage and enrolled in a magic academy. 

The present knowledge of mana, magic and spells has been systematized to let later generations of Spellcasters learn. 

Magic is seen as a talent, so many children, teenagers, and even adults go to an academy to learn the systematized knowledge of magic if they haven't already.

This exception was only for those who have inherent magic, because it seems that the basic knowledge of inherent magic would be understood by the time the person was able to use magic itself. 

It was like an instinct for them and this could be considered a cheat, but this wouldn't mean they couldn't learn the knowledge of the present magic system.

Downsides to inherent Spell casters are that they have a hard time learning the modern magic system. Because they already have inherent knowledge of their magic, it was hard for them to adapt and learn the modern magic system's spells. It was also due to inherent spell casters body constitution that made their body's only strong affinity towards their inherent magical element. 

Although hard, it wasn't impossible, all they had to do was put in more effort than normal spell casters did. 

Of course they could just imitate the spells form, effect and usage with their own magic, but this is limited. For example, Lucia could use fox fire and illusion magic. So technically, Lucia could also use the fire spear spell with her fox fire, turning it into a fox flame fire spear. 

Illusion magic was categorized as special magic, but the modern magic system could use water, fire, shadow, light, and even wind to imitate illusion magic. Technically, illusion magic was the pinnacle of illusions conjured from the modern magic system so it was useless for Lucia to learn them, but she could use their forms and usages as reference for when she uses her illusion magic. 

But since she only has fox fire and illusion magic, she wouldn't be able to use the modern magic system's water, wind, and earth magic system or even imitate the effects of them, because of her limitation in element, unless of course she studied them extensively. 

The upside to this is that because inherent magic users have an already basic all-encompassing understanding of their magic, they could easily develop and strengthen their inherent magic with practice. 

This is hard for modern Spellcasters because they weren't the trailblazers of modern magic and their understanding of magic is only limited to the magic system of today.

It was hard for modern spell casters to develop new magic or strengthen their own, but it wasn't impossible. 

Lucia had mentioned that there were very strong Spellcasters that were titled by the people as Sages, these Sages were able to use powerful original magic that they had developed, and most original magic are unique to individual Sages. 

Of course, the study to strengthen and create original magic was something that every generation of Spellcasters strive for. There was never a stop to the research and experiments. 

Because of that, over the years there were some new spells, although not powerful, were able to make the living conditions in this world more convenient. These spells were given out to the public for use. 

A prime example would be the 'light stone'. This 'light stone' was an original magic that was created by a Spellcaster who accidentally created a spell that combined earth system with light system magic. It created a perpetually glowing rock, which was now used for illumination in the dark. 

This magic replaced the need for torches and fire or fuel based lampposts. Even in dungeons, a light elemental would still be used, but the spell caster had to maintain the light elemental with their own mana. 

This 'light stone' wouldn't need that. After creating one, the light stone would continue to shine for 12 hours before disappearing, unless the caster, someone or something dispels it. Sounds like a light bulb right? 

But this is just but one example. There are plenty of others, but Lucia didn't list anymore. 

Although there are examples of non-offensive, but useful magic, there were without a doubt some useless and failed products. 

There are also taboo spells, but Lucia doesn't seem to know any of them. She only vaguely explained that there was a spell that permanently hexed people into other objects and evil spells like curses, necromancy, and etc.

In conclusion, there are plenty of magic spells out there, some powerful, others useless, but they were, nonetheless, awesome in Cecil's inexperienced opinion. 

So after finalizing their plans for today, Cecil followed Lucia into the library to learn more about this world, and especially about magic. 

'I really hope I could use it soon, that'd be way too awesome!'

Blankly waking up from my dreams and dragging my feet to the restroom to wash up for work. Putting on the casual wear and packing my Police uniform, I took my first step of the day to work.
I'm a Policeman and today is another new day. By regulations, unlike other workers, I can't simply wear my workwear outside. I am like a batman where my superhero clothes must not see the lights of the day when I'm not working.
An empty blue uniform with no badge except my name tag. Unlike the glam and glitter of my supervisors blue uniform with colourful badges of their service, mine is clean. This means that it has unlimited potential of the future possibility.
After arriving at my workplace, way earlier than the stated working hour. I get ready to collect my arms and required devices to start my shift. The queue at the armoury is as long as it has always been. I got myself in line and had a meaningful conversation with my other colleagues also waiting in line.
"I hope to end exactly on the dot today." Colleague A stated his goal for the day.
"Me too." The other's harmoniously agree to the statement.
1 hour since arrival, Im Ah Luiz is now sitting in the briefing room with his other colleague waiting for the Deputy In Charge to give the opening address as well as a motivational speech. We all listen attentively to not miss any words.
Now 1 and a half-hour since arrival, I will be starting my 12-hour shift from 0900 hours to 2100* hours. (*tentative time*)
Me and my partner for the day, Yu As Hiltorn collected the vehicle keys and proceed to our vehicle.
We proceed to check against the vehicle checklist of damages. The flash our flashlight on the vehicle to identify the smallest of scratches potentially left by the previous user. There were cases where our seniors were charged for not taking care of government property due to damages done by the previous user and not identified because he took over from his friend.
After the thorough check of the criminal vehicle, we judge it not guilty. And we proceed with our routine work of the day.

This is not a thriller novel nor a climaxing novel.

Although Huo Shaoheng looked as solemn as usual, like not much had changed, Gu Nianzhi managed to see a flash of shock in his eyes. However, it was only for a split second. Gu Nianzhi still felt a huge sense of accomplishment.
Huo Shaoheng squinted, seeing Gu Nianzhi's proud expression. He leaned back onto the bed without a word. He stuck his arm out and hugged Gu Nianzhi to him again so she was leaning against his chest. Both of his hands reached into the clothes that Gu Nianzhi had just put on as he said flatly, "Oh really? Fine then, let us continue tonight."
Gu Nianzhi was startled. She blushed and took Huo Shaoheng's hands out of her clothes. "It was not enough last night?! Do you think you really have needs every single day?!"
