For this match, Lan Guang's rhythm had been messed up, the only thing worth rejoicing was that his mentality managed to be kept on the edge and had yet to collapse. The assassin spun in circles several times before recalling that there was another thing known as red buff that he could harvest and then ran into the lower half of the jungle.
Ji Zhiyao laughed a little.
The overwhelming advantage in the earlier stage placed Mix in a stable and unflappable condition at all three lanes, in the course of it Heng was caught by Xiaoye once, but because of Xiaoye's inadequate damage due to a shortage in equipment, Heng managed to dash into the safe space under the turret with a shred of HP left, Xiaoye's attack was more or less in vain. 
Seven minutes into the game, in the situation of three deaths and lagging behind by more than a thousand gold, Tall Boots could not contain the impulse and started the fight for the little dragon, wanting to make use of the gold from killing the little dragon to turn the game around. Initially Xiao wasn't too bothered, only preparing to run over for the last strike when the little dragon has been brought down to it's last HP, yet he did not expect Lan Guang to suddenly become smart as he sold all other equipment with the exception of accelerated boots and bought weapons with high damage, the little dragon went into Tall Boot's sack without any struggle.
This was purely the suffering of a serious setback as the result of a careless mistake.
The camera was aimed at Xiao, him on the screen looked slightly annoyed but overall, his emotions were still in check. Xiao slapped his own forehead, naggingly saying something before he jumped into the jungle to continue his work. 
Tall Boots temporarily turned the game with the little dragon and was now on an equal footing with Mix. Everyone's levels was about the same too. 
The match entered a period of stalemate.
Yet though Mo Huaifeng was older, he had a restless heart. He called out to his mid-laner and jungler once again, wanting to go steal Tall Boot's newly spawned red buff.
This time round Tall Boots was prepared beforehand, Xiaoye, Lan Guang and their ADC all ran into the jungle to wait, both teams fought directly, starting a small-scale team fight. 
The outcome of the team fight was extremely terrible, two in exchange for three, leaving Heng who was cowering behind Mo Huaifeng and Xiao to recall back to the fountain with a trifle of health.
A mini team fight ended, whether they were aggressive or cowardly, both teams began to develop themselves timidly.
Up till the 45th minute, Tall Boots headed for the dragon first, as they attacked, they realized that Mix had also unsure when, arrived, all 10 members of both teams were gathered in the big dragon's cave. Due to the trauma left behind from being robbed in the jungle by the three cunning foxes, Lan Guang first threw his ultimate ability onto Mo Huaifeng. Yet Mo Huaifeng moved faster than him, slickly jumping behind Nuo, using Nuo to tank the damage.
Though Nuo felt aggrieved, but at the thought that he was a tank and did not seem to have any other use except for tanking damage, he charged towards Lan Guang and Xiaoye with a yell, stunning the both of them with the collision. Mo Huaifeng instantly stepped forward with his ultimate ability and finished off the both of them with a double kill….at the end of a chaotic fight, Mix successfully gained a big dragon with all players safe and sound. 
With the dragon behind them, they pressed on, directly charging towards Tall Boot's base. 
First match, victorious!
Ji Zhiyao and the rest applauded their team mates from under the stage, but as they met eyes, they all saw the silence in each other's eyes.
To have beaten Tall Boots battleteam on the international stage, to them, wasn't anything worth being happy over.
Commentator A: "Honestly speaking, this match was unexpectedly exciting, to my surprise, this also gave us a taste of the charms of Chinese eSports players on the international stage, they're all very capable eSports players, I'm about to become a fan." 
Commentator B: "Alright, let us first take a look at the judge's established outcome.
At this point, the male host walked on stage from a side, and announced, "This match has been deemed valid, let us congratulate Mix battleteam for first earning one point!"
Applause sounded from the audience.

For a moment, the host was speechless.
It took quite a while before he remembered what he had wanted to say and continued to ask a few questions, all of which Mo Huaifeng answered with ease. 
Three minutes later, the questions segment ended. Mo Huaifeng bowed to the audience then walked off stage and returned to the participants' waiting room.

Ji Zhiyao curled his lip, yet he could not come up with anything else to rebut Mo Huaifeng and hence pretended that he did not hear him.

Yet the feigned composure was still a feigned one after all, when Boxer turned ASI's mid-laner and the turret over in the middle lane, the mentality of ASI's mid-laner had already crashed. After respawning, he basically seemed to be wearing a label that said 'ATM', terribly producing the results of 0/7/2 at the midway point of the game, an unbearable sight. 
This way, the third match had yet to begin and Mo Huaifeng suddenly stood up. "Let's go, back to the hotel."

After we finish placing all of the picture frames in the wall, we go upstairs to change the clothes into casual one. After we change clothes, I will go downstairs to prepare our wedding party, while Ming Er will prepare our wedding room.
Since we're not inviting anyone to celebrate our marriage, we decide to make a party on our own. The party will hold tonight but I'm already preparing the ingredient this afternoon. Because the person who will eat the dishes only me and Ming Er, I ask her what kind of food she would like to eat tonight before we separate.
"Ming Er, for tonight party, what kind of food you like to eat?"
"Um, I'm not a picky eater, but for tonight if possible I want something sour, something that not too spicy because that will make my belly feel hot, and something that not use too much garlic because I want to keep my breath smell good when we kissing"
She said the last part of her request with a bit shyly looks on her face. Oh, she looks cute when she like that, and how thoughtful she is. So I decided to make something delicious and lavish although only use the ordinary ingredient that we buy in the market. 
Tastes of Chinese food are traditionally categorized into five flavors: salty, spicy, sour, sweet, and bitter. Since she already mentions not a spicy one and I don't like a bitter one, the only remaining choice is salty, sour and sweet. I'm racking my brain to arrange cuisine that fits into those three categories. Finally, I find something that fit the requirement. Its Shanxi cuisine and Jiangsu dish that I will prepare for tonight party.
For the soup, I choose to make sour soup broth (酸汤; 酸湯; suān tāng) so I prepared the ingredient as follow:
• 1/3 cup dried shiitake mushrooms
• 1/4 cup dried wood ear mushrooms
• 1/4 cup dried lily flowers
• 1/2 lbs (230 g) pork loin (or chicken breast) cut into thin strips
• 1/2 tablespoon Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
And for the soup
• 2 teaspoons minced ginger
• 2 green onions chopped
• 2 tablespoons Chinkiang vinegar
• 1/2 teaspoon white pepper powder for a less spicy dish
• 6 cups water or chicken stock 
• 1/2 block (8 oz / 227 g) firm tofu, cubed
• 1 tablespoon light soy sauce or soy sauce
• 3 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
• 2 eggs beaten
• 1 teaspoon sesame oil
And this is how I make the soup
1. Gently rinse dried shiitake mushrooms, dried wood ear mushrooms, and lily flowers with tap water. Soak each of them with 1.5 to 2 cups warm water in three big bowls. Rehydrate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, until tender. Slice mushrooms into strips. Snip off the tough ends of lily flowers and discard. Remove tough ends of wood ear mushrooms, then chop into bite-sized pieces.
2. Combine pork, Shaoxing wine, salt and cornstarch in a bowl. Mix well by hand. Marinate for 10 - 15 minutes.
3. Add Chinkiang vinegar and white pepper into a small bowl. Mix well until the white pepper is completely dissolved.
4. Add water or chicken stock, ginger, and green onion into a pot and heat over medium-high heat. Add rehydrated wood ear mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, lily flowers, and tofu to the pot. Cook until bringing to a simmer. Add soy sauce and turn to medium-low heat.
5. Mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water in a bowl until cornstarch is fully dissolved. Slowly swirl the cornstarch slurry into the soup. Stir to thicken the soup.
6. Add the pork from step one into the soup, stirring several times to prevent the pork strips from sticking together. Add the salt. Slowly swirl in the beaten egg and stir well. The egg should be scattered and not clotted.
7. Remove the pot from the stove. Add the vinegar and pepper mixture and stir to mix well.
8. Garnish with cilantro and drizzle with sesame oil. Give it a final stir.
And for the main menu, I prepare a dish called Squirrel-shaped mandarin fish. Why I choose fish as the main menu, it's because fish is a symbol of luck and fortune in China. That's why in the market, I especially buy fish for tonight party. And for this dish I also prepared the ingredients as follow:
• 1 river bass, about 1 pound
• Pinch of salt
• 15 tsp sugar
• Dash of white pepper
• Two egg yolks
• 2 tbsp cornstarch
• 5 cups of cooking oil (or enough to submerge fish)
• 3 tbsp ketchup
• 4 tbsp water
• 5 tsp salt
• 1 tsp white pepper
• 1 tbsp bamboo shoots, cut finely
• ¼ cup deveined and peeled shrimp
• 2 tbsp green peas
• 2 tbsp of cornstarch mixed with a bit of water
• 1 tsp white vinegar
And the way I cooking this fish as follow:
1. Clean the mandarin fish and cut off the head. Do not discard the head. Slice on both sides. Remove the bone. Do not cut off the tail. Reverse the fish so that the flesh is facing outside and make cuts with 1 cm spaces in between to create a diamond-shaped pattern. Do not cut through the skin. This will create a quill-like pattern.
2. Season the fish with salt, 5 teaspoons sugar, white pepper, and egg yolk. Set aside for about 20 minutes. Bat with cornstarch.
3. Heat the wok, add oil until there is enough to submerge the fish, and deep-fry the fish when the oil is at a high enough temperature. Take the fish out when it's half cooked. Wait until the temperature goes higher and then put the fish back into the wok. Check the fish; it should be golden and crispy. Set aside.
4. For the sauce: Leave some of the oil in the wok. Add ketchup, water, salt, 10 teaspoons sugar and white pepper. Then add the bamboo shoots, shrimp, green peas and egg yolk. Add two tablespoons of the water and cornstarch mixture and the white vinegar. Mix briefly.
5. Pour the sauce on the fish.
6. Deep-fry the head separately; arrange it with the rest of the fish for presentation
It needs about one hour to cook this fish into a dish for dinner.
Since I make a bit too much soup, I also decide to make xiaobaolong (soup dumpling) enrich our menu tonight. It's the same process like make dumpling, but for the filling, I use the soup that I already made. It's a famous cuisine that easy to find in the Shanghai area.

Ao Xinyan and Huang Yanchen's eyes brightened. They stared at the Crazy Alcoholic.
Huang Yanchen's attitude toward him completely changed. "Senior, do you really know a Saint of the Pill Way?"
Only those with Spiritual Power above level 55 who also had high attainments in the Pill Way could be called Pill Saints. Their statuses were comparable to Saint Kings. It wasn't easy to find one of them.
Plus, even if they found one, he might not help a junior in the Saint Realm.
The Crazy Alcoholic smiled confidently. "I don't have many friends, but each one is skilled. When I was young, I was like brothers with that Pill Saint. If I ask, he'll definitely heal Zhang Ruochen."

The sky was covered in fire, turning red. The huge Holy Qi waves came from the cloud of fire. It was terrifying even from such a faraway distance.
The waves on the sea grew taller and taller as if wanting to overturn the ship. Gradually, the group saw an enormous mountain rise up over the sea. It shone with five-colored light, scattering the firelight. It colored the Yin Yang Sea.
"How come such a huge mountain came out of nowhere? We're already outside the Abandoned Deep Sea, but we can still see the mountain's features. How high must this mountain be?"
The Crazy Alcoholic widened his eyes. He stared at the mountain's shadow. It felt like a tower, but it was too far away. He couldn't see clearly.
Right now, Zhang Ruochen, Ao Xinyan, Huang Yanchen, and Qing Mo were all extremely shocked and dumbfounded. They couldn't even breathe. Could this be the legendary Dragon Sun Moon Mix Tower?
A divine weapon appearing was definitely earth-shattering news. It was enough to change the balance of powers in Kunlun's Field. If this news spread, it would definitely shake the world.
The Crazy Alcoholic's eyes shone with a hot look. He couldn't stop rubbing his hands. "If cruel figures like King Zhongying, the Thunder Heavenly King, and All Kill King enter the Abandoned Deep Sea, there must be an amazing treasure coming out. As to what it is, I do kind of want to see. Maybe I can get some leftovers."
The Crazy Alcoholic sensed that Zhang Ruochen's group had strange expressions. "You know what it is, right?" he asked suspiciously. "Did you really enter the Yin Yang Sea to find the fat cat's physical body?"
Zhang Ruochen wanted to hide the fact, not wanting the Crazy Alcoholic to know about the Dragon Sun Moon Mix Tower. If the Crazy Alcoholic knew about it, he definitely wouldn't leave the Yin Yang Sea anymore. He'd want to fight for it.
Competing with people like King Zhongying and Kill All King was like fighting for a tiger's food. Any mishap could kill them.
Before Zhang Ruochen could speak, Qing Mo came out and said, "It's the Dragon Sun Moon Mix Tower."
"What?" The Crazy Alcoholic's eyeballs almost fell to the ground. Yelping, he ran over and grabbed Qing Mo's shoulder, sputtering, "Little…little girl…what did you say?"
"The Dragon Sun Moon Mix Tower," Qing Mo repeated, not thinking anything was wrong. "Blackie said that the Dragon Sun Moon Mix, one of the top ten divine weapons, is in the Yin Yang Sea. The mountain that came out of the Abandoned Deep Sea's center is too huge and its aura is too terrifying. It must be the Dragon Sun Moon Mix."
The Crazy Alcoholic trembled with excitement and laughed maniacally. "I was wondering why those fierce figures would risk their lives and enter the Yin Yang Sea. They'd come for the Dragon Sun Moon Mix! Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Zhang Ruochen could see that the Crazy Alcoholic wanted to return to the Abandoned Deep Sea. He quickly reminded him, "A divine weapon's appearance will definitely cause a bloody storm. Even if you happen to get it, it might not be a good thing."
"I obviously know that, but if I leave without seeing a legendary divine weapon clearly when it's right in front of me, I'll regret it for life."
The Crazy Alcoholic took an ancient yellow jade out. He handed it to Zhang Ruochen and told him a name, letting him go search for that Pill Saint alone.

The Crazy Alcoholic flew into the air and rushed to the Abandoned Deep Sea as a beam of light.
Zhang Ruochen clutched the yellow jade. He stared at the Crazy Alcoholic's back and glanced at the "mountain" above the sea. In the end, he just sighed.
Who wouldn't be tempted when faced with a divine weapon?

When I woke up I found Sara already awake looking at the pieces of paper that I was given last night. Good morning Sara. Morning she replies. do you mind if I look at those. Oh yeah here she says as she hands me the papers. I take some time to read over the pages, the first page, only having the title of the book on it. The name of the book was the occult and their stories. The second page was just as useless as the first being a page index but the third piece of paper I got was intresting. It said there is one watcher that we cannot find. I look at Sara and smile. She smiles back and asks why are we smiling? I say because there is a rouge watcher somewhere out there and that means that we have a chance to learn more, quicker about them. Okay so how do we find someone who the watchers cannot find. I don't know that yet I know we should continue  with our plan to make it to Canada. But first we should make a splash here right Sara asks? Yeah we will make sure that they know we were here but we have to plan it out. After a couple hours we decide to create a bomb so we go out to buy supplies. We stop by Walmart to pick up some supplies and then we went back to the hotel to build the bomb. We made it where when the timer hits zero two things would happen, first two chemicals will mix causing an explosion and then the explosion would mix more chemicals would mix creating a deadly gas that will fill a room quickly. We go to a movie theater and decide to watch Survivor. When we got into the theater we set the timer for thirty minutes and started watching. About ten minutes in I pull out my phone and pretend to be talking to someone. This seemed to piss someone off and they turn around and ask if I mind. I get up and say sorry before walking out of the theater. Sara and I get into our car and drive off towards Washington not staying to watch the show but I figured the watchers are probably watching it. (Watchers side) John just left the theater and everyone goes back to watching the movie not even knowing that they were about to die. half an hour into the move there is a sudden click before a deafening boom, which killed only about a quarter of the crowed but they were the lucky ones because the chemicals mixed creating a poison. A lot of people tried to run through the door causing a couple people to die from trampling before they inhaled the poison causing their skin to boil and blister and their lungs to scorch but even more unlucky was someone managed to open the door which caused the gas to escape out of the theater room into the lobby where many more people who were fleeing from the sound of the explosion also inhaled the poison and died.

This is a story about a man suffering from a full mental break down and turns to violence against the world and those he feels have wronged him

Seeing that they've failed and had instead fallen into the seven novas' trap.

The leader whom was a burly middle-aged man quickly roared " Shield." 

And then dozens of men systematically and quickly moved ahead of the leader protecting him. Each of them was holding a round shield.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh

At the same time,  hundreds of arrows were shot by the archers and pierced through the endless milky fog like bullets and flew towards the attackers.


Even though the reaction of the attackers was relatively fast, most of them were shot on the shoulders and heads. The tip of the arrows pierced through their bodies and brought with them pieces of meat and blood as they quickly disappeared within the endless mist.


Painful screams filled the air as the others were still trying to protect themselves from the rain of arrows that were still coming at them.

While Shad, Klaus, and Florence were in front confronting the attackers, an earthshaking battle is taking place in the back as Drake and the rest of the Novas were currently slaughtering the spies sent by the Eye which were mix with the others vagrant cultivators that were following them in the back.

Last night, after successfully forming the alliance, Klaus had come up with a perfect plan to counter both the ambush and get rid of the spies sent by the Eye at the same time.

Klaus and others knew that all of their movement was being monitored by the Eye in the resting place. Just like the treasures left by Henry in the Great Tower was very important to the four great empires and could even be defined as their rise and fall, it was also crucial for the Eye's plan to take over the continent, which means they would do whatever it takes to get their hands on it.

First of all, they've already found a way to prevent the protectors of the four empires to personally go into action by entering the Tower themselves. And now, all they've to do was to prevent or delay the people sent by the four empires from entering the Tower while they were inside searching for the treasures.

As such, they've sent countless spies to mix within the people that were going into the Tower to slow them down and even kill them if possible.

Klaus already knew all that, but what he didn't know was who among the people were spies. Furthermore,  he couldn't randomly just kill everyone or prevent them from going into the Tower as well.

However, one thing he was certain of was when they finally made their move, the spies that were mix with the others would spring into action as well. 

He knew that as soon as the eye attacked them or ambush them from the the front, the other spies that were mix with the other warriors that were following them closely in the back would take the opportunity to surprise attack them in the back as well, attacking them in both front and back at the same time. Even if they had defeated them that way, they would have lost a lot of imperial soldiers which wouldn't be a good thing for them.

They couldn't afford to lose a lot of soldiers even before entering the Tower because that's where the real fight will be.

As such, before they left for the endless mist, Klaus had made Florence used her ability to create a duplicate of Andre, Baal, Anderson, and Drake. Their duplicates were so lifelike that it was almost impossible to tell the difference unless one use their spiritual force to sense them. Florence was a void of mage and her ability allows her to clone herself or to create a duplicate of anyone she has been in contact with.

Furthermore, if by any chance she had a drop of that person's blood in her possession, she could use it to duplicate that person with his existing ability and portion of his strength. Even though that clone or duplicate could only last for a certain time, it was still a frightening ability which made her the most feared of the 7 Novas even though she wasn't physically strong as the others. 

Which means, all along, only Shad, Klaus, and Florence was in the frontline while other novas were dressed as imperial soldiers were waiting for the perfect opportunity to snuff out and get rid of the spies sent by the Eye who was in the midst of the other vagrant warriors and mages in the back. 

The back of their army was already the weakest part of the group because all of the high-level warriors and mages were in the frontline along with the Novas.  The spies sent by the Eye would have never guessed that there were four powerful Novas along with many mid-level warriors and some high-level warriors waiting for them to make their move in the back.


" It seemed like the others are having fun in the back,"  Shad softly said with a slight smile on his face when he heard a big explosion and the shrill cries of the spies in the back.

" Klaus those bastards are retreating within the endless mist, shouldn't we follow them?."  Shouted Florence as she was looking at the attackers that were retreating under the rain of arrows.

" No, don't chase them. We still don't know how the situation is in the back so we can't afford to send people after them. Not to mention it's very easy to get lost within that mist. There might even a more of them waiting for us. This was just their first wave of attack."  Klaus had no intention of sending troops after them even though they were on the defensive and were running away.  Also, this might even be one of their ruse to lure them to separate their troops and sent people after them so they could kill them one by one within the mist.

Plus, even though they were winning now, Klaus knew the Eye still has the advantage. Not only they've already entered the Tower. They've probably left thousands of people waiting for them at the entrance.


" Just take a break Florence and replenish your energy, I will need you to use your ability again," Klaus said as he was looking at the pale face of Florence.

After using her ability to produce four duplicates and controlled them at the same time with her spiritual force along the journey, Florence was both mentally and physically exhausted. Creating a clone of herself took less amount of energy than the duplicate of another person. Not the mention, she had to use a huge amount of mana to create them and also her spiritual force to control them which required a  lot of focus and concentration.

" You guys can stay here, I am going to take care of them,"  Shad said as he turned into a red streak of light and suddenly disappeared from his initial position.

He could not wait anymore. He wanted to put this piece of meat into his mouth now, but when he heard Bu Fang, he was a little hesitant.

The man had already set his heart on eating the piece of meat, too lazy and impatient to think about the soy sauce that Bu Fang mentioned.

One of the men was very eager to put the demon frog meat into his mouth.
"This feeling…" That man looked as though he would burst into tears. He lifted his head, and in his eyes, a clear drop of water formed before it rolled down. 
The feeling of being involved in cooking the dishes themselves made them feel infatuated. This feeling was really wonderful.

The surrounding audience stared at the strong men, who were putting the steaming hot food into their mouths. Seeing the way they ate the mouthful of soup, they couldn't help but swallow.
Although the men's faces were flushed red because of the spicy taste, the kind of happiness when being conquered by this food could not be hidden. 
The spicy taste of the soup, the aroma of the fresh ingredients, and the delicate taste of the dipping sauce… Altogether, these flavors formed a special flavor. 
Meanwhile, Bu Fang continued to process the ingredients. Aside from the vegetables, of course there were many other ingredients. These ingredients were diverse, and each had its own distinct taste.

But even if it was too spicy, they still kept on eating it. Aside from the delicious taste of the ingredients, the aroma of the spicy hot soup was incredible. Combined with the sauce that they had personally mixed, the dish formed an indescribable taste. 
When Bu Fang placed each tray of ingredients on their table, the spectators looked at those trays with bewildered looks.

It is a passage from Ezekiel 38:20. Such is how I felt when I saw the rundown mess that is the Plural Heights mall. This is where we were supposed to take this Mike person and have him meet his friend.
"Do you think this will work, Father Anatoly?" The timid voice of a man rang beside me as I looked at the things inside of the van: a bag of cement, three huge containers filled with water, and a small metal pail.
"What do you mean, Mike?" I said to the timid man who's fidgeting before me.
Mike clenched the collar of his polo shirt as he sighed. "I just feel like... Someone like me who doesn't even deserve to live should be on a mission like this... There's absolutely no reason for me to be alive, but..."
"No reason to be alive? Child, I..." I then turned my head and gazed at him with a troubled expression. I didn't know what to say to him as I gently closed the door of the van. From a distance, I saw countless crows cawing and flying on top of the Plural Heights mall at the far off distance. I then smiled as I tapped Mike's shoulder. "Look at those birds, Mike." I then moved his body to make him gaze at the energetic murder of crows. "Were they not put here in this world by the same God who made you?"
"I..." Mike said with a stutter. "Of course, they are. The same God made them."
"Do you believe in God, Mike?" I said as I looked at him with my arms around his shoulder.
"I think so." He said with the same weak tone.
"Do you really think God will find joy in seeing one of his perfect creations think of himself as nothing less than a masterpiece?" I then waved my hands and pointed it towards the flying crows above the mall. "Look at them, Mike. They all do all that they can to survive in this cruel world." I then dropped my hands as I tightened my grip around Mike. "I am sure you've seen a lot of cruel things if you're my mother's employee, and I'm sure it must have broken your spirit, but always believe that God will be there for you no matter what, Mike, no matter what. If those birds whom a lot of people consider as naught but pests and bad omen deserve to live, why can't you? A wonderful person like you deserves to keep such a beautiful soul, Mike." I then released him from the tight grip of my hands as I smiled at him with a nod. "Always remember that."
Mike then sighed with an assured smile. "Thanks, Father Anatoly."  
I then walked towards my mom as I yelled, "Talk to me if you feel like that again, okay?"
"Sure!" Mike said with a determined smile as he sat on a bench outside of the 7-11.
I then leaned on a wall beside my mom, who's sitting on a foldable chair she took somewhere in the kitchen. Her black wide brim hat flowed along with the wind as I spoke, "So how did you find that guy, anyway, mom?"
"Eh. Don't remember anymore." Mom scoffed as she wore her sunglasses on with a bored expression. "Must have been another nutjob thinking of changing their lives for the better... or something similar to that." She said as she placed her hand on her lap while patiently observing her employee.
"So, what exactly is his role in this thing?" I whispered as I squat beside mom. If someone found a priest wearing his black cassock squatting on a dirty corner beside a rundown mall with an old woman, they would probably think that some cosplay event is happening somewhere.
"Veronica asked for our help kindly because she found out that one of my employees is a friend of one of her targets." She then pointed at Mike with his chin. "That's the employee." She then sighed with a puzzled look on her face as she continued, "I would have been reluctant to give him to Veronica if she was an excellent employee."
"I assume he isn't, then?" I said with a chuckle while I tapped on my knees.
"Why do you think I allow the twins to whip him?" She said with a grunt as she slowly rearranged her hat neatly on her smooth-flowing ashen hair. "Of course, he's a terrible employee. I'm happy Veronica is taking him away."
I nodded with a shrug before asking, "But what's the catch?"
"The catch? Well..." She then clicked her tongue while tapping her feet twice. "If Veronica thinks his help is no longer needed, then we will be the one responsible for 'dealing' with him if you know what I mean."
"Sounds tough." I then yawned after replying.
"Indeed, which is why he needs to do a great job here." She then leaned her body forward to look at a car pulling up in front of the 7-11. She then stood up when she saw who came out of the vehicle. "Oh. Looks like the target is here."
When the target left the vehicle, he quickly went to Mike's side right away with a bright grin. He then sat on the bench with him and started talking about God-knows-what.
"What are they talking about?" I said with a whisper while looking at the two of them converse.
"I don't know, son." Mom said as she put a walkie-talkie on her mouth. "But we need to find out." She then pushed a button and started speaking on the receiver. "George, it's your turn."
When mom said this, I saw George came out of the 7-11 and quickly scanned the surroundings to find Mike and the target. After a few seconds, he locked eyes on Mike and slowly walked towards them. He put his white baseball cap on as he sat beside the target.
"Good. Just stay there and listen to what they're talking about. Wait for further instructions."
We then looked at the response of Mike and the target. From afar, I could easily guess that Mike had a sudden shift in his behavior when he saw George. He looked like he was panicking as he started spouting something to the target. Since the target was facing his back on us, we can't quite see his reactions.
"Don't you think he's fidgeting a little too much, mom?" I asked while tapping her soldiers with my forefinger.
"That's the point." Mom then pushed a button on the walkie-talkie again and said, "Okay, George. Tell me what they're talking about there."
From a distance, I saw George standing up slowly as he walked into the store again. After a while, we heard his voice in the walkie-talkie. "Mike is proceeding as planned."
"Good." Mom said to the receiver with a nod. "Go there with Jeffrey now. Corner the target from each side. Don't let the target get away and keep reminding Mike that he needs to take him into the mall. One of Veronica's affiliates is already inside, and we can't fuck this up for us. Understand?"
"Yes, auntie." George's determined voice echoed out of the walkie-talkie.
"Good. Now go back there, hurry." Mom said as she slowly pulled her sunglasses and peeked out of it with a half-wide grin.
However, when George and Jeffrey left the store and immediately went towards the direction of Mike and the target, both of them stood up from the table, and the target was particularly on alert as he hurriedly went into the middle of the road with Mike. He took his bag quickly before Jeffrey could even sit on his right side.
"He's a smart one, alright." Mom said with a click of his tongue as her grin swiftly disappeared. She then talked into the walkie-talkie again. "George, Jeffrey, both of you stay there outside of the store. Don't move."
"Understood." I heard George's voice in the walkie-talkie while my mom swiftly stood at the edge of the sidewalk with a stern expression. I then walked towards her. As I finally beside her, she grabbed my arm gently; I expected her to be nervous since the operation might fail, but she looks calmer than I expected.
"Are you okay, mom?" I asked while we observed how Mike and the target talked to each other in the middle of the road.
"Sure. We're not the one in the wrong here. Mike did exactly as he was told, but the target this time is just too cunning." She then sighed while taking her sunglasses off, revealing a tired-looking gaze that showed how much she wishes to go home and drink tea instead of doing this. "This is Veronica's problem now. She would probably take Mike away from us, which is good."
"But wasn't Mike supposed to take the target into the mall?" I said as I looked at the target leaving.
"That is, indeed, the plan."
I then slowly narrowed my eyes as a smile started to creep up on my face. "Then, we can safely say that Mike failed us, right?"
Mom then looked at me with a chuckle. "Well, she didn't fail in Veronica's eyes. That's the only thing important to me."
"I see." I then tried my best to conceal my laughter as I saw the target turning around. Thus, the target saw all of our faces before he left ultimately. "He saw us."
"Indeed, he did." Mom said as she laid her head on my shoulder.
"Then, it's perfectly fine for me to perform some... disciplinary procedures, right?" I said as the shadow on my face started to heighten while I looked at Mike, who was still standing in the middle of the road.
"Mom then looked at me with a yawn as she slowly walked towards the van. "Do whatever you want."
"Sure," I said as I felt different forms of darkness running in my head all at once as I beckoned the twins to approach me. Meanwhile, Mike was still standing in the middle of the road like the damn moron that he is.
"What is it, Toly bro?" Jeffrey uttered with a confused look on his face as I put some cement and water on the pail that I had asked them to bring for me.
"Do you guys want to play a game!?" I said excitedly towards the twins as I looked at the unmixed combination of water and concrete dust on the pail.
"Sure!" They both said in unison as their fat tummies flapped like unkempt wings as they ran towards me like featherless chickens.
"Okay!" I said with the same excited tone on my voice as I dragged the enormous blue bucket inside of the van, which contained the rest of the unused water. "I want you guys to mix that cement and water on that metal pail for me, will ya!? The person who mixes the fastest will get to buy as much as they want in that 7-11 store! Do you like that!"
"We sure do!" They both said while kneeling in front of the pail on the ground.
"Then start mixing, my dear cousins!" I then looked at the two of them with excitement, but both of them didn't move. "Go on now! Mix, mix, mix!" I said like a clown for a child's birthday party.
"Well, don't we need a small shovel to do that, Cousin Toly?" George said with her forefinger on his chubby cheeks. Jeffrey stood beside him, nodding with the same amount of confusion on their faces.
"Oh... err... really? I mean, OF COURSE, I KNOW THAT!" I then laughed heartily with my hands on my stomach. "Silly! For this game, you need to use uhh... YOUR HANDS! That's right! Mix, mix, mix with your hands, my cousins!"
"I see! Then I won't lose!" George said as he dropped his hands onto the pail.
"Ahh! Cheater! Me too!" Jeffrey said with a panicked expression before plunging his hands deep into the pail too.
Without further ado, they started burying their arms inside of the cement with joy, flailing their arms inside of the pail for me until it turned into a mushy mixture that doesn't look quite as I expected.
"Hmm... It's not really mixing up well, eh?" I said while gazing at the boys with a worried look on my face.
"Of course, it wouldn't Cousin Toly!" George assured with a wide grin on his face while still mixing the cement on the pail. "You also need sand and gravel if you want to mix this damn thing!"
"Err... Well, this is embarrassing." I said with a chuckle as I scratched the back of my head. "Here I thought I could finally see someone with a cement face... You know what, boys! Why don't you wash your hands on that bucket there, and I will go there with Mike, so we can judge who's the winner, eh?"
"SURE!" They said as they stood up with excited faces, whisking cement all over the ground.
Well, that didn't go as I had planned it to be, but whatever. This is just for show anyway! I was planning on making cement somehow and then pouring it on top of Mike, so I could finally see what statues look like if you use real people as a literal base of it, but oh well... WHATEVER! Well, now that I had thought about it, maybe it wouldn't work too because there's not enough cement here...? ARGH! WHATEVER!
I then took the metal pail and walked towards Mike. I then dropped the pail in front of him with a wide grin on my face.
"Oh... I... Hey, Father Anatoly, I'm sorry if it didn't go as planned, but I..."
"Kneel." I uttered with a commanding tone while a gentle and broad smile remained on my face.
"What... do you mean?" Mike said, while looking at the pail on the ground.
"You want to confess your sins, right?" I then pointed to the ground with the same gentle and broad smile on my face. "Go on then, Mike. Kneel."
"I... I see..." He then slowly fell onto his knees with his fingers clasped together while his arms shook. He looked straight onto the cement inside of the pail as he started talking again while being on his knees. "Forgive me, father, for I have..." Mike uttered as he gradually raised his head to look up at me, but his voice stopped when he saw my left leg raised straight into the air above his head. "Wha--BLEGHRK!"
Before he could realize what would happen to him, my feet had already dropped onto his head, plunging his face deep into the cement.
"APOLOGIZE!" I screamed as I grounded my soles onto Mike's head tightly.
Mike then started speaking muffled words with his face in the pail as he began to flail his hands and feet around. "GRAMHGH SWORGHY! GRAMHGH SWORGHY! GRAMHGH SWORGHY!" Mike struggled to say with his face deep into the mixture of water and cement inside of the metal petal.
"STOP STRUGGLING NOW, BOY, OR ELSE GOOOOD WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOUR STUPID ASS, I TELL YA!" I yelled again as I continued to drop the entire weight of my body onto my feet. Luckily, this place is almost deserted, so there are no bystanders that would stop me from doing this necessary correcting measure on my mom's employee... which is all according to my plan, by the way. Definitely!
Mike then stopped moving, but he remained speaking muffled breaths while I buried my face on the pail. His chest started to heave up and down quickly, making me laugh at the thought that he's somehow breathing whatever mistake is inside of that pail. The initial plan is that I will bury his face on the cement till it hardens and pull his skin out of it and somehow heal him with whatever death-defying mechanisms they have out there in the Organization. Alas, what I have instead is this... cement juice thingie. Oh, whatever. WHATEVER! I don't care anyway; this can be fun too.
"Good!" I said as I loosened the strength around my feet, but I still kept the contact of my soles on Mike's head. "Smack your right hand on the ground if you're sorry!
He complied without any further qualms.
"Smack your right hand on the ground twice if you won't do it again!"
He did so again without causing more trouble for me.
"Good, boy, good! Now do that again with both of your hands this time if you don't want the cement to harden on your face."
He complied like a good little boy immediately; he did so well that he started smacking the ground so much that his arms palms started to redden like it was about to bleed.
I then pulled my legs away from Mike's head. When I did so, Mike lifted his face, showing a few improperly mixed cement on his falling on his skin.
"Ew." I said as I looked at him with a squirm. "Go wash your face there in the bucket near the van, will ya?"
When I said so, Mike immediately staggered towards the huge blue plastic bucket outside of the van and willingly plunged his whole head deep into it.
"What are you doing, Mike! You shouldn't put your face there if you want to judge us!" Jeffrey said with a laugh.
Mike was then about to raise his head from the bucket when George pushed it deep in there again. "Op, op, op!" He then began shaking Mike's head furiously into the water. "You should wash your face properly, Mike! Maybe you missed some spot, eh?"
"HEY, GUYS!" I then yelled at the two of them from afar as I looked at Mike's glasses inside of the pail along with cement. "Can you believe it? Mike said, you're both winners! Go there now and buy whatever you want! My treat!" I said with a fake excited voice while pointing at the 7-11.
"Yay!" They both then cheerfully ran towards the 7-11, leaving Mike on his lonesome for once. The poor guy then pulled his head out of the water before his body shook so hard that he fell onto the floor, crying.
"Aww!" I said as I quickly approached him with my hands open wide. "Come here."
Mike almost flinched and moved his body away from me, but he's too exhausted to do so. I then laid his head on my chest as I patted his back gently, feeling him shake uncontrollably in my arms.
"Shh... It's gonna be okay now. Shh..." I said as I gently cradled Mike's body on my gentle touch.
As I did so, I realized that a few crows started to circle above us, cawing loudly, making their presence known as some of their feathers fell onto my head like darkened confetti from the sky. I then looked at my cousins inside the convenience store as I cradled Mike's trembling body in my arms.
That's right.
