2019, December 19th, Thursday 

In the freezing winter, a gloomy young man could be seen walking alone towards the subway station. When someone thinks of winter they may think of snow, the bitter cold, or meeting out with friends for a party, however for this young man named Shi Ye, winter marked a depressing milestone in his life. 

It was today that his 50th job interview failed. Be it his lack of social skills or the fact that he only had a high school diploma, Shi Ye could not seem to find a single business that was willing to hire him. Because of this Shi Ye, as a 24-year-old, could barely manage to live in New York, even with the money he received from his parent's deaths and the meager amount of money he receives from the government. 'If I don't find a job fast I might have to cut down on my meals to pay off this month's rent' He thought to himself as he turned around the corner of the street to the subway station.

Sliding his subway card, Shi Ye grimaced, 'That's While he waited for his subway to arrive, Shi Ye started to look for job offers on his phone. "Hmm...creating furniture...no...waiter...no", Shi Ye continued to do this for 10 minutes until the subway he was boarding arrived. In the subway, he spent an additional 3 minutes scrolling through his phone until he found an offer reading:

「Help! Looking for someone willing to do some odd jobs. Accepting anyone. Pay: $20/hour」. 'This ad seems a little bit strange for some reason...' Shi Ye thought to himself. 'Eh, maybe it's just because of how it says odd jobs, anyways the pay is decent, so I might as well apply for it'. Shi Ye downloaded the job application and began to fill it in. After a few minutes, he sent the application to the email provided in the offer and exited the subway. Thankfully, Shi Ye lived close to the subway so he managed to walk home fairly quickly.

As one may expect from a jobless young adult, Shi Ye's apartment was quite pitiful; it only had one bedroom, a small kitchen, a single bathroom and a living room. Opening the door, Shi Ye took off his shoes and walked to his room. He sat down and booted up the old computer he found in the dumpster a few days ago. Determined to prepare himself for any job, Shi Ye began to start his research for skills he would need. Perhaps being hardworking was his only redeeming quality, but soon Shi Ye's eyes started to feel heavy. When he was almost going to fell asleep on his keyboard, Shi Ye received a phone notification. Ding! This loud sound snapped the half-asleep Shi Ye awake. "Huh!?! Oh, it was just a notification". 

Startled, he opened the notification and found this message: 「Thank you for applying Mr.Ye, I appreciate it. I would like to tell you that you are hired and I wish to meet you tomorrow so you can begin your first job.」Shi Ye began to feel excited, he will now finally have a job! However, soon this happiness was crushed with the last sentence reading:「Please meet me at #%+=&$$&@!?*^%#.」

With the address being a bunch of scramble symbols, Shi Ye quickly realized he was pranked. "In the end, it was just a person messing around...", he sighed. 'Well, I guess I'll go look for a job again tomorrow'. With that, Shi Ye got out of his chair and fell onto his bed, falling into deep sleep.

06:00 A.M.
While Shi Yan was softly snoring, a lifeless, robotic voice could suddenly be heard in the middle of his room.
「Initiating World Transportation」
「World: Nine Stars Continent」
「Transportation Starting in 5...4...3...2... 1」
「Beginning Transportation」
A brilliant light suddenly flashed right after the countdown. It enveloped the entire room and lasted for a minute until it finally began to dim.

As the rays of the morning sun cascaded onto Shi Ye's face, he slowly woke up. When he opened his eyes, a completely foreign sight greeted him. Confused, Shi Ye got up and decided to examine his new surroundings. 'Mmm... I am definitely dreaming right now... there is absolutely no way I can be in a forest right now!' Shi Ye thought while pinching himself. Sadly, Shi Ye eventually realized that he wasn't dreaming, sure enough, he was really in a different world! Although it may have been Shi Ye's dream to be transferred into another world when he was a teen, right now, who would be happy transferring into a forest? 

"Whoever brought me here...come! Tell me what I have done to deserve this!" he yelled in anguish.

Almost instantaneously, Shi Ye heard a loud ding and a voice soon replied with: 「Oh hero, you have awoken! Shall I answer your question?」 

"..." Although Shi Ye did say for the person who transferred him to come... he really didn't expect someone to answer! Knowing that the voice who answered him was definitely not human, Shi Ye cautiously ask, "Who in the world are you...were you the one who brought me here...?"

「Indeed I am! I am your employer, Infinite Pillar! I am in charge of managing different worlds! A pleasure to meet you, Mr.Ye!」

'...Employer my ass! In charge of worlds my ass! I don't remember ever having such an otherworldly employer!' thought Shi Ye. Annoyed with the fellow that claimed to be his employer, Shi Ye asked, "Hey...can I punch you in the face for a second?"

「Certainly not! It would be quite rude to punch your employer, don't you think?」

"..." Shi Ye's shoulders shook. "Your mother is an employer! Your ancestors are employers!" shouted Shi Ye. "Just who the hell are you, suddenly bringing me here and claiming to be my employer?!?! What kind of name is Infinite Pillar? What's your purpose sending me here?"

「...*sob sob*...how could you be so terrible to your employer? My name has been Infinite Pillar for as far as I can remember...*sob*...you clearly signed an application for the job...and I clearly gave you a response saying you were hired...」

'Wait... I was sent a response saying I was hired?' Shi Ye then realized that the job offer he was hired into was not a prank. "The hell? Why am I being summoned to another world for some odd jobs? Am I really going to be doing odd jobs and not something else?"

「Why that's a pointless question! Haven't you read the Terms and Conditions of Service I included in the job offer?」

"Wait...Terms and Conditions of Service?" asked Shi Ye. 'Sh*t! I didn't bother reading it and just clicked 'I accept the Terms and Conditions of Service'!'

 Curious to see what in the world he agreed to, Shi Ye asked: "Hey...can you let me look at it one more time?"

「Sure thing my trusted employee!」

Right after that, a scroll fell from the sky. Opening it up, Shi Ye read it out loud "I agree that by signing this document, I show my consent to work under Infinite Pillar. I acknowledge that if I am transported to another world or lose my life, Infinite Pillar will not be responsible for anything..." Shi Ye didn't read on, right after he reached this part he immediately started to rip the scroll up. "Consent your sister! How can this even be considered a Terms and Conditions of Service?"

「Hmm...I don't have the slightest idea! The most important thing is that you work for me now!」

"...": Shi Ye. 'Haaa...I give up...I seriously give up trying to argue with this person...' With a tone of defeat, Shi Ye asked, "Hey...can you send me back...I don't think I can work in another world..."

「Hmm...that would be a problem, you see, just by sending you here I've already used up more than 75% of my remaining energy!」

Given this response, Shi Ye almost coughed out blood. "Are you serious? Is there a way for you to recover energy?

「Ah, yes there is a way! It's actually related to your job!」

"My job? What is my job anyway?", asked Shi Ye. He did not necessarily know what kind of "odd jobs" he could do in an alternate world.

「Your job is pretty simple, help me fix some worlds! As long as you successfully fix some worlds my energy is bound to be replenished!」

"...Oi, tell me you're just joking...what kind of common sense do you have to think fixing worlds is easy? I'm just a normal person... how do you expect me to do that? Answer me!", yelled Shi Ye.

This time, there was no answer from Infinite Pillar, and Shi Ye stood there and waited for a response. Only moments later, a book fell from the sky in a similar fashion as the scroll from earlier; the title being「Fixing Worlds For Noobs! By Infinite Pillar」. "..." At this point, Shi Ye was already too tired to question the title of this book. Because he didn't know what in the world to do and had no idea where he was, Shi Ye decided to sit down and begin reading in hopes the book provided better answers than Infinite Pillar. 

「Hello new Intern! In this first volume of "Fixing Worlds For Noobs". I, Infinite Pillar, will explain the history and concepts of the worlds and then go on to explaining about fixing worlds! Enjoy~」

"..." Shi Ye. 'Intern your sister!'

One winter day, unemployed Shi Ye failed to get a job for the nth time. Lamenting this, he had decided to try again the next day. Little did he know that, before long, he would be forcefully employed by a mysterious being! Not only this, but Shi Ye's job was actually to help it fix worlds!?!?

Now join Shi Ye on his pointless endeavors...ah pui!...journey! Join him on a comedic journey of world fixing!

The Caucasian woman's face was pale as a ghost.

The Asian man coughed out blood once more before finally getting up and pulled out a knife.

"DIANNE, GET AWAY FROM HIM!"

Dianne who was hugging Nathan's leg let go immediately and tried to move away.

However, Nathan grabbed her by the neck and raised her up.

"Well, well, well… What do we have here?" said Nathan as he looked at the Asian man and smiled.

"BASTARD! LET HER GO RIGHT NOW!"

"You really like ordering me around, huh."

Nathan grabbed Dianne's left hand and crushed it.

Crack!

"AHHHHH!!!" Dianne screamed.

"YOU!" said the Asian and dashed forward.

However, Nathan shielded himself with Dianne's body, causing the man to stop.

The Asian man gritted his teeth and his eyes were burning with fire.

As much as he wanted to save his little sister, he knew that Nathan was far too powerful.

He already lost his parents during the zombie apocalypse. He couldn't lose his sister as well.

Nathan smiled. 

"The bitch behind me, move to this man's side or I'll break this girl's neck," said Nathan to the Caucasian woman.

"Hannah…" said Dianne weakly.

The Asian man looked at Hannah.

His eyes were pleading.

However, Hannah was frozen from fear.

"Heh~ Still not being cooperative," said Nathan as his hand slowly reached out for Dianne's left ribs.

"HANNAH! PLEASE DO AS HE SAYS!" said the Asian man.

He knelt down and bowed.

"Please… Don't hurt my sister…. Please… We only want to survive…"

Tears started flowing from his eyes.

Seeing the Asian man prostrating and crying, Hannah finally snapped back to reality.

"David…"

Hannah quickly went over to David's side and hugged him.

"Please don't hurt us… We don't mean any harm…" said Hannah and cried as well.

As for Dianne, she started crying as well and weakly said, "Please, mister… I'll do anything you want… Just don't hurt them…"

Looking at their scene, Nathan couldn't help but feel a little guilty.

He felt like he was the villain here.

'No! I'm the victim here! That dog pointed a gun at me while I was at the loo and made me beg!' 

The scene also reminded him of a certain memory…

3 years ago.

Nathan, 21 years old.

Liit Town, Muwin.

"Grandpa! Cousin! What are you guys doing here?" a man called out.

Sakhr and Nathan looked towards the direction where the voice was coming from.

It was Maaz, the eldest child of uncle Mabrook and aunt Mariam. And with him was a group of drugged-up and dangerous-looking men.

Maaz was 25 years old. However, despite being older, he was only 5'2" tall and was skinny. Because of that, from what Nathan has heard, he had this Napoleon complex.

Nathan glanced over at the drugged-up and dangerous-looking men.

They too looked at Nathan, sizing him up.

Back in the day, despite Karen's objection, he didn't mind talking to people like this. 

To him, they were the outcast or rebels of society and their devil-may-care outlook kind of intrigued him a little bit.

However, after he graduated and started working, he began to distance himself from such people to protect his image.

In his mind, he wasn't a teenager anymore so he needed to "man-up" or "act right" as they say.

"You drug addict, what are you up to now?" said Sakhr.

Although Sakhr believes that a real man does, say and takes what he wants, he doesn't agree with throwing your life away by doing drugs or engaging in illegal activities. 

Sure, doing drugs once in a while is acceptable. But doing it every day that it affects your physical and mental health? That's a different matter.

To him, what's the use or how can you enjoy the benefits of your success if your body is broken? What was the point if you will only end up inside a coffin or spend your life behind bars?

Maaz smiled and said, "Nice to see you too, grandpa." 

He then looked at Nathan and nodded.

Nathan nodded back as well.

Sakhr snorted.

"We're getting some fresh air," said Nathan.

"Oh, okay. See you guys later. We're going to grab something to eat," Maaz said and started walking towards the church with his crew.

When Maaz and his crew were already a couple of feet away, Maaz stopped and turned.

"Cousin, we're going to Banya city tonight. You should come with us to celebrate."

"Sorry, I can't. I have work later."

"Okay." 

Maaz resumed walking.

"Brat, don't follow the footsteps of that brat," Sakhr said and then sighed. "I only have 3 grandchildren that I know of. And unfortunately, one turned out to be a disappointment. You and Malik are the only decent ones so don't fuck up our family name."

"Wait… what? You have other grandchildren?"

As far as Nathan knows, this grandfather of his only had two children, his father and uncle Mabrook.

Sakhr hit Nathan with his cane.

Pah!

"Ouch!"

"You idiot. With the number of women I've slept with in my life, it wouldn't be a surprise if one of them got pregnant and I wasn't aware of."

Nathan checked his watch.

3:43 pm.

From Monday to Saturday, he usually wakes up around 3:00 pm because his main job is from 5:00 pm - 12:00 am and his part-time job is 2:30 - 5:30 am.

However, his employer at his part-time job was a cool guy and let him take the day off today.

With that, today, he only had to work at his main job.

'I'm going to try to take a 30-minute nap.' Nathan thought. "Grandfather, uncle Mabrook and aunt Mariam are probably looking for us."

"Go tell them to come here."

"Okay."

Nathan got up.

"Brat."

Nathan looked at his grandfather.

"Give me another stick."

Nathan didn't want to argue to he gave his grandfather his pack of cigarettes and lighter.

After returning them to Nathan, Sakhr blew smoke and said, "Go now but take your time."

Nathan and his family got back home.

Maaz didn't come with them.

Nathan climbed up the second floor and went straight to his bed.

He grabbed his phone and set the alarm clock.

'4:30 pm… Okay.'

There were a few messages from his family members that were not here at Liit town.

He decided to ignore them for now and slept.

4:30 pm.

Ring… Ring… Ring…

Nathan opened his eyes and grabbed his phone to turn it off.

'I still want to sleep…'

His body felt so weak and heavy from the lack of sleep and food he ate earlier.

He decided to close his eyes for 5 minutes.

A minute or so passed when suddenly…

"Nathan, I made you coffee and a few snacks," said a woman.

It was aunt Mariam.

The room that Nathan shared with Maaz didn't have a door because it was removed by uncle Mabrook about 10 years ago due to Maaz's drug problem. 

Nathan opened his eyes and got up.

"It's downstairs. Do you want me to bring it here?"

"Thanks. I'll just eat them downstairs."

"Okay."

Aunt Mariam left.

Nathan stretched.

He then grabbed his laptop, phone and headphones before heading downstairs.

Nathan was at the dining table listening to music on his laptop while checking his email and drinking coffee.

His first work starts at 5:00 pm so he didn't open his message app and was checking his emails in the meantime.

He noticed an email.

It was an email from the company of his main job and was sent just about 4 hours ago.

It was a termination letter.

The reason he was being fired was because the company was facing some financial issues and they had to fire some of its employees.

However, the "bright side" was that his pay was sent right away instead of at the end of the month.

After reading the letter, he opened his message app right away to contact his former employer.

His status wasn't online yet.

Nevertheless, he clicked the profile of his former employer and began typing a message.

[Hi, I just read the email that was sent to me by the company. I don't understand why I'm being fired. I've been producing good articles. In fact, every week, I have one article that's part of the top 5 weekly tech news articles. What's the basis of my termination?]

After sending the message to this former employer, he decided to contact his fellow writers as well that he was friends with in the company.

[Hey, I received a termination letter today and got fired. Did you receive one as well?] 

He sent the same message on all 4 of them -- 3 were females and 1 male.

They all messaged him back.

It turns out, 1 female and the other male were fired as well. 

Also, he couldn't help but notice that the 2 females that were not fired were the beautiful ones. 

And out of the two of them, one rarely writes and doesn't even get her articles at the top 5 weekly tech news articles. 

His former employer finally replied.

The "reason" given to him was the same as written in the termination letter that he received.  

Nathan was about to ask why the writer who rarely writes wasn't fired but decided not to.

It would be no different from begging.

"FUCK!"

Bam!

Nathan slammed his fist on the table, causing his coffee to spill.

Seeing the spill, Nathan grabbed his laptop and phone right away.

"Shit!"

Aunt Mariam rushed to the dining area.

"Nathan, what's wrong?!" 

"Um… Sorry, aunt Mariam. I accidentally bumped the cup and it spilled over all my laptop."

"Oh… Let me help you wipe that."

"Don't worry. I can clean it myself."

"Oh you, it's okay. Just let me do it."

Seeing that she was so persistent, Nathan finally gave in.

However, he couldn't help but feel bad for her.

Sure, she was a housewife just like his mother, but she was too dedicated that he couldn't help but feel bad for her.

If no one knew she was married to uncle Mabrook, they probably would have thought she was the maid or something.

But who was he to question a society's culture?

Who was he to tell his aunt what's right and wrong?

Who was he to tell her how to live her life?

"Thank you," said Nathan.

"It's okay."

He went back to his room.

On the beach, Yve has fallen asleep beside Vince after eating the food they bought. Her workload plus the things that Vince revealed tired her up.  Having understood all of this, Vince carried her back to the car and settled her in the front seat and drove back to the hotel.

After ensuring that Yve is comfortable on the bed, he went to the bathroom to freshen up only to be interrupted by Sylvan.
"What is it?"
"Primo, they found a report about Nyelle's mother. I sent the details to your email."
"Okay. Thanks."

Thinking that it must be urgent for even Sylvan to call him late at night, he went to his study to check his email. He didn't like what he read and for sure Yve wouldn't like this, too. But he's bound by the promise they made at the beach.

A few hours ago while eating on the beach
--

"Vince?"
"Hmm?" Vince said as he stopped eating to look at Yve doing the same thing to him.
"To be honest, I feel nervous knowing the dangers that being in the underworld might bring."
"Do you want me to quit?"
Yve looked at him and said, "As if it would be that easy to quit."
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Just be honest with me."
"...."
"I don't need you to tell me the specifics especially when it doesn't concern me. Don't make lies like you're going for a business trip or something. Just tell me you need to do something Primo-like."
"Primo-like, ei…" 
"..."
"Please, Vince. Other than that, I want you to ensure your safety as well. After that, I guess everything is fine with me."
"I promise."

Back at the present

Vince took a deep breath and turned his laptop off and decided to tell Yve everything tomorrow morning. Before heading for bed, he instructed Sylvan to inform the police station that both of them are coming in the afternoon for their interview.  He finally took a shower and slept. 

The following morning, Yve was the first one to wake up and so she took the responsibility to prepare a simple breakfast for both of them. A few moments later, she saw Vince coming down from his room with a brown envelope in his hands. She decided to ignore it thinking it was related to Gray Group.

"Good morning, King!"
"Good morning, my Yve." Vince said and kissed Yve on the forehead.

But his next actions caused Yve to be curious. Vince pulled back a chair for her and urged her to take the seat. Yve decided to follow and was handed with the envelope. She gave him a questionable look.

"As much as I would like to hide it from you but a promise is a promise." Vince said as he went to the kitchen and served the food on the table. 
Yve reads the contents of the envelope and was shocked to see the title. 
"Did you held them captive?" Yve asked.
"Yes."
"How are they?"
"Nyelle is doing much better than your step sister."
"I want to see Nyelle now. Take me to her."
Vince knew about this but didn't say anything. He sat on one of the chairs and looked at her.
"How about your interview in the police station?"
"Ahh!! I almost forgot! I'll call Sylvan to…"
"There's no need. Upon receiving the report late last night, I ordered Sylvan to postpone your interview. It will this afternoon with me." Vince explained.
"Thanks. So, will you take me to where you're keeping her?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"NO!"
"Then to avoid your dangerous methods, I'd rather take you there myself before my subordinates kill you."
Yve swallowed her saliva in fear of what she heard but in the happiness of Vince's decision, she hugged her and whispered,
"Thank you so much."

Today is another busy day for me. Work and home are the only places I go to for the past 3 years. The end of THAT relationship ended my happy, easy-going life. But then, when I think about it, it was not his fault but mine. My friends would tell me that I need to move on. I HAVE MOVED ON. It's just I don't want any side trips anymore in my life. I have my dreams and I am working hard for it. Little did I know what the destiny has installed for me.

"Mom, I still love her. She ended the relationship without any valid reason and I didn't agree."

"But son, what if the reason is that she doesn't love you anymore? Isn't that a reason valid enough for you?"

"I have to know it this time, mom. I did try to go out on dates but still failed. I think meeting her again will help me know what is happening with me."

"I guess I have no other choice. But remember, don't let her disrupt your plans and the family's business."

"I know, mom. Steph, book my flight to the Philippines tomorrow."

"Vincent! Why are you in so much rush?!"

"Because I believe that the early bird gets the worm."



Just wait for me, Yve. I will get you back by hook or by crook.

It was already past 11 PM when Lu Fang finished his work and had called in his personal assistant to prepare the car. Just before he was about to leave, he saw the folder of his new bodyguard on the table and he smiled at the thought of Kara.
He brought along with him the file hoping to read it in the car.
"Master, shall we go?"
Lu Fang nodded as he cleared his desk, making his way out of the office. As they were headed to the elevator, he thought of giving his an assistant a little scare. "It's still too early but since you were in such a hurry, then we shall."
Go Bolin, "..."
After reaching the car park, Go Bolin opened the door for his master and soon drove off to empty streets.
Lu Fang sat in the back of his Maybach car and took out the file of the new bodyguard when he noticed that the name label was Andrea Li. 'Who is Andrea Li? Didn't I tell Go Bolin to hire Kara?'
He quickly scanned through the file and saw a picture of a female blonde.
'What the hell! Wu Meiwan… You are such a troublesome girl!' Lu Fang screamed to himself with frustration written all over his face.
"I thought I told you to hire Kara!" Lu Fang angrily asked Go Bolin.
"Master, I told Ms. Wu to hire Kara as you had instructed."
Lu Fang could only regret including Wu Meiwan in the hiring process. He did not realize she would go this far getting jealous over a bodyguard.
"Well… she did the opposite!"
Lu Fang paused for a while thinking of what do to.
"Find the information of the female bodyguard named Kara immediately!"
Go Bolin looked up the mirror and was hesitant for a moment but said, "Now, Master?"
"Do you still want your job?"
"Yes, Master! Right away! I will be sure to give you the information first thing in the morning!"
Lu Fang was in deep thought thinking about that day he met Kara. That had been 2 days. What if she already left the city? Or worst, left the country? He recalled Kara had her luggage with her and that could only mean she came only for the interview.
The next day, Go Bolin woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He checked the time before getting up and saw it was still 5 AM. The horror on his face could not be more obvious!
"Hello…"
"Where is the file of Kara that I asked of you?"
Realizing it was Lu Fang, he quickly went to his study to grab the laptop and check if they were already available.
Last night he had contacted the Human Resource Director and requested the information ASAP. He did not bother going through Wu Meiwan.
Checking his email, he felt his world crumble and weakly responded, "Master, there was no Kara."
"What do you mean?"
"Master, according to our Human Resource Director, there was no applicant by the name of Kara. There was, however, one with a similar name, Klara Jones."
Lu Fang thought he could have heard her wrong. It could have been Klara and not Kara. So he asked for Klara's profile to be sent over to him immediately.
After checking the information on Klara Jones, he was surprised to see the same photo on Andrea Li's folder!
'There could only be one culprit to this! This was done purely intentional to hide the information of Klara Jones.' Lu Fang sighed and massaged his temples. He was already looking forward to seeing Kara's beautiful face, but as it turns out, she did not get the job.
He quickly sent a text message to Go Bolin giving him further instructions.
"Check all the female bodyguard applicant files and give me all of those that had thick make-up on, brown hair, and a name that sounds like Kara!"
After reading out the text, Go Bolin realized he will be having a long day over "Kara or Klara".
Later that day, he was not only busy with work but he also had to make a follow-up on the investigating Klara Jones. It did not help that Lu Fang reminded him almost every hour and yet, despite checking all resources, they could not identify her whereabouts. It was like she had vanished into thin air.
The truth was, Wu Meiwan had arranged something special for Klara Jones and had even rented a hotel room under a different name. She knew the time would come that Lu Fang would look for her.
Wu Meiwan did a good job of making things confusing for the gentlemen. She had thrown out the files of Klara Jones and swapped her photos with Andrea Li's file. She had planned to just make an excuse of mixing the files of the applicants. By doing so, she was hoping she could buy time until Klara Jones leaves the country.
She had arranged for an employer to hire Klara without any interviews. It was a well-established company in the US where her father, Wu Xu Ying had connections with. She made sure to turn down Klara and pave a path for her elsewhere.
"Hurry up and get her to sign the contract! Give her a ticket to the US ASAP!"
Wu Meiwan was in a little panic after Lu Fang confronted her about the applicant files. She then pretended to get confused and gave worry expressions on how she had made a mistake.
'I'm sorry brother Fang, but you cannot have eyes towards other women. You're mine.' Meiwan silently proclaimed and was pleased with how everything was going so far.
What she did not know was that Andrea had just blurted out a name to the man that day and it happened to sound like her co-applicant, Klara. She ended up hiring the very girl that Lu Fang wanted in the first place!

"Now that all the small matters have been taken care of. It's now time for me to find a job, considering my financial situation, my connections as well as my work history. I think I should go for an accounting job. Even though I don't have much of a prior experience within the field but with the help of Abby and the net, I  should be able to learn it and do the work of hundreds of thousands of accountants in a matter of seconds. So I don't think it would be much of a problem for me but having some basic knowledge about it would be required so that I can convince the employer"

 Considering till here he went to his old secondhand laptop to search for accounting knowledge, even though he was tight on his financial situation. He had bought a secondhand laptop with all his savings from the past five years. 

This was so that he could learn some relevant information form online when necessary, as spending money in the Internet cafe was not feasible.

After going on the net he started to search for basic accounting software and accounting knowledge, which were newly launched this year.

For the next one week, his life followed a regular schedule from before. He would go for his college to attend the lectures in the morning, as he was an orphan and a poor student he didn't have any close friends in the college, ao not much of a interaction was there between him and his classmates.

It was only with the professor's that he had some interaction because he used to go to them after classes, to find explanations for any doubts he had. 

In the remaining amount of time, he didn't do much of an exercise for his body or make a nutrient solution as his injury at the back of his head had still not completely recovered.

 In the meantime, he was studying accounting knowledge so that he could find a job more easily, in this one week with the help of Abby, he had memorized and learned every possible foundation methods of accounting and all the basic knowledge for his job. 

After one week of thorough revision, he went on an app with higher reviews for job placement, he found himself a placement for accountants, it didn't take much of a time to find a job interview. 

While he was learning he had already prepared a CV for himself. So as soon as his interview was scheduled he had already sent his CV with his age and work history, which was basically none but he had sent some of his scholarship certificates.

 On the same day, he got an email telling him the place and the timing for the interview. It was two days later and it was in the Eastern section of Ghazi City. 

Two days went by in a blur, a day before his job interview he already had planned to ask for leave from his professor, telling her about his circumstances and to start a job in the accounting to for it. 

His Professor knowing about his financial background didn't argue with him about spending his time working rather than studying as it wasn't necessary, as he was a straight-A student.

 He was given the leave without any questions the next day early in the morning around nine o clock he set out for his job interview. Taking a local bus he reached his destination at 9:35 am with a lot of time to spare, even though he was prepared for it the crowd in the bus was out of his imagination but this was normal considering, with the abundance of food in the nation the people at least did not have to worry about how to feed the children so growth in population was not uncommon.

The firm in which his interview was set was JJ accountings. It was a firm for people who needed an accounting specialists. They had many accountants in their firm, their job was to manage the accounts of their clients from different companies so they had a high security and privacy policy. His interview was at ten o'clock so after reaching the premises he went to the lobby for giving his attendance, there he was given the interview form. He filled in all his applications and attached the CV before returning it back to the receptionist at the lobby. 

He was told to take a seat and come when his name was called. While sitting down in the lobby, he could see that other than him at least 10 to 15 other applicants were there and all of them were above 20 years of age at least, but he wasn't nervous at all if the interviewer knew anything about accounting he would get the job hands down.

It didn't take long for his name to be called. he was sent to an adjacent cabin just beside the lobby.

 After knocking he entered,  is there a middle-aged woman interviewer was sitting,
"You must be Ved?" she asked.

"Yes, ma'am, and you are?" I asked

 "Oh I am Cindy, please take a seat." she offered. 

" Nice meeting you, ma'am." without any formalities I sat down.

" Nice meeting you too, so tell me Ved, Why do you require this job?" she asked the question without any small talk. 'Practical woman, good' was my evaluation of her.

 "Ma'am to be honest with you, I'm actually a 13-year-old boy, going to a science stream college, as you know, there are basic necessities required to be fulfilled and various books required to be bought for the studies. So I need the money for it, right now I am fulfilling all my necessities with the scholarship money, but it's just not enough. I have been studying accounting on my own for the last two months and I think I can do a pretty good job in it." I gave her a straight answer so that this interview would end faster.

Like the surge that subsides after it's time, the era of Gods and Devils is returning, 
how far will a person go for his ideals in this mystical epoch?

Gun-Ho came back to Yangju and went back to his work at Bangil Gas again.
Once sales were made, Gun-Ho issued electronic tax invoices and added earnings and expenses to <Daily Earnings and Expenses> table in Excel, and then reported it to the owner.
 
Gun-Ho made sure to collect all receipts of every business expense incurred and attached them with glue to the back of an expense form he had purchased from a stationary store in order to properly document them. If there was a client with an outstanding balance for LP gas, Gun-Ho would make a collection phone call to that client as well. He also ran errands for the owner.
"Years of my life will go by like this?"
Gun-Ho was barely making a living; he felt anxious about getting old without saving money.
"It's Wednesday and I don't hear anything from that company in Asan which I had an interview with."
Gun-Ho was constantly checking his smartphone to see if there was any text message from the company. He increased the ringtone of his phone to make sure he didn't miss any calls. There was no phone call, let alone any text message.
"I don't think I got the job. Let's just move on; it is a lost cause. So many smart people are out there. I can't compete with them with my rubbish work experience and qualification. I just have to appreciate the opportunity for having a job interview with them."
Friday came around after Wednesday and Thursday. Gun-Ho gave up on getting a position in the company in Asan. He once again started looking through the newspaper classified section and WorkNet; however, there was no job advertisement which drew Gun-Ho's attention.
"The companies posting a bookkeeper job opening in a newspaper classified section will hire a female, not me. If they hire a male for the job, that's probably because the position is half bookkeeping and half irrelevant chores."
After work, Gun-Ho usually surfed the internet on his laptop in dim light or he went to the PC room in the neighborhood. He felt like he was falling so much farther behind in life compared to his high school friends, which made him feel depressed.
"Won-Chul Jo who is now married should be doing fine, shouldn't he? Byung-Tae Hwang who is working in a research facility of a startup company in Pangyo is getting married soon. He posted about his wedding on Facebook but didn't personally inform me. He could easily find my phone number by contacting Won-Chul or the others."
Gun-Ho drank soju almost every other day, and that increased his alcohol tolerance.
"I am destined to live in the countryside. My life is f*cked up. I have ShinWangJaeWang fate? ShinWangJaeWang my a*s."
 
It had been more than two weeks since Gun-Ho had a job interview with the company in Asan. The memory of the interview was fading away when he received a phone call from that company, a very unexpected one at that.
"Mr. Gun-Ho Goo? How are you? I am the manager of YS Tech in Asan."
"Oh, hi. This is Gun-Ho Goo."
"I am sorry that we took a long time to contact you. You have been hired as our bookkeeper. Can you start on the 1st of next month?"
Gun-Ho came to his senses by this unexpected and sudden phone call.
"Oh, of course, sure. I… I can."
"You have only five days left until the 1st of next month. Can you manage to quit the current job and start a new job with us within five days?"
"Of course, of course. I can certainly do that!"
"Let me tell you then what to bring on your first day of work. You might want to get a pen and a paper."
"Yes, I am ready."
Gun-Ho was so perplexed that he dropped his cell phone while looking for a pen and a paper, and stumbled over the computer power cord.
"You should bring a resident registration, a resident registration abstract showing the status of your military service duty, your highest school diploma, Consent to Collect and Use Personal Data, Identity Assurance Statement, and a work experience certificate letter from your current employer. I will send the forms for the Consent to Collect and Use Personal Data and Identity Assurance Statement to the email address indicated on your resume."
"Okay. I will prepare all those documents and bring them on my first day of work!"
"You can come by 8 AM on the 1st next month. I will see you then."
"Thank you. Thank you."
Gun-Ho felt so grateful to be hired by this company that he repeated "thank you" twice.
"I got it! I got the job!"
Gun-Ho clapped. He felt like he could fly.
"By the way, why did they call me just now? They said they would contact me by last Wednesday."
Gun-Ho sat on the chair and started thinking.
"I guess that the person they hired decided not to work with them, so they hired me instead as a substitute. Of course, I can't be their first choice. Well, they hired me anyway. Let's move to Asan."
Gun-Ho stopped by the Eunhyeon Township Office to get the resident registration and the resident registration abstract on the way to work after collecting bills.
"I can get my college diploma online, but what about the work experience certificate letter? There is no such thing in Bangil Gas. Well, I can find some samples on the internet and make one for me."
After he returned to the office, Gun-Ho drafted a work experience certificate letter referring to some examples he found on the internet.
"I need the boss' stamp to officially seal this letter… I have his stamp for the tax invoices stamping purpose; should I just use it?"
Gun-Ho thought he still should ask the owner for it.
"When he comes back from the gas pipe repairing work, I will carefully inform him."
A little after five o'clock, the owner came back to the office, looking exhausted.
"A*sholes! They tried to bargain for the repairing cost. I should have just left without fixing their pipes. Sh*t!"
The owner slumped down in his chair, looking really tired. Gun-Ho had to tell the owner that he would quit the job, but he couldn't because the owner seemed very tired.
"Gee, it is already half past five. Goo Jooim, you can go home."
Gun-Ho hesitated and the owner looked at him with a question mark on his face.
"What's the matter? Do you have something you want to tell me?"
"Umm… I am so sorry to tell you that I think I have to move to the city where my parents are."
"Why? Because your father is in the hospital?"
"My parents want me to come, and they are old now…"
"Hmmm…"
The owner looked very uncomfortable.
"I will have to find someone again. I really liked you here."
"Well, I've been thinking, and I think your wife can handle the work. You can save money that way."
"My wife? She doesn't even know how to work with a computer."
"She just needs to get the knack of it. She will become better and faster at the job after one or two months of practice."
"I know I can save money… But she always tries to argue with me whenever she is here in the office. That is the problem."
"Haha. That's because she likes you a lot."
"Well, I will have to think about it."
"I will work until the end of this month then."
"You leave that early?"
"My parents are pressing me."
"Oh well, what can I do about it."
"And once I move to the city where my parents live in, I might need a work experience certificate letter from this company."

Gun-Ho walked out of the office and turned his head to look behind him.
"Bangil Gas. I have so many good memories of this factory. The boss and his wife are good-natured people. Once I become successful, I will come and visit them."
It was getting dark; Gun-Ho drove to the Gwangjeok Township Office area where his room was located. He called the landlord to give him the notice to vacate his room.

Sylvester dropped the landline receiver after speaking
with Agent Dakolo, he sat back into his seat, trying to
decide whether to attend to the Agent's request first or to
follow after Henry. He chose the latter and got up from
his seat. He picked up his phone from the table and
proceeded out of the office.
Two minutes later, he was seated in the visitor's seat
behind Henry's table. Henry wasn't paying much
attention to him but was focused on his work on the
laptop.
'Here's what I wanted to show you' Henry quickly handed
a paper to Sylvester and turned back to his laptop. 'How
was the interview? What position did she apply for?'
Henry asked.
'There was no interview' Sylvester answered without
taking a look at the paper he was handed. 'She only came
to submit her credentials in person'
'I see' Henry said in a low voice, acting less interested.
'You thought I invited her over for an interview?'
'Yes, of course. You are the Boss here and you don't need
my permission to interview anybody' Henry answered
with a slight chuckle.
'But we already agreed to work with those available and
not to take in anyone else for now. I wouldn't go against
our agreement'
Henry paused and looked up, he fastened his eyes on
Sylvester's face. 'I didn't suggest that in anyway' He said
and turned his face back to the laptop. 'Oh! You thought
that was the reason I didn't agree to see her?'
'What else could be the reason?'
'I wasn't aware of the interview before, neither do I know
the position the interview is for so I didn't think I had any
business to do with her' Henry answered, keeping a light
smile on his face.
Sylvester remained quiet for a while, staring at Henry's
face. He had thought Henry was angry but Henry's
demeanor and words have proved him wrong.
'So what do you …' Henry paused on seeing that Sylvester
had not checked the paper given to him. 'Come on, read
what's there'
Sylvester picked the paper and scanned briefly through
it. 'When did you start working on this?'
'It wasn't my work, Dayo did it' Henry replied. Dayo was
the new employee that was taken in the week before.
'It looks good but we have to find how crackable these
codes are' Sylvester commented.
'That's why I was in your office then, I wanted to check
through your history log but I've been able to check it
from here'
'So, are they crackable?'
'Yes, it's even made up of very easy combinations'
'Does that make it usable or not?'
'It's not usable. It would be easily cracked by the
opposition'
Sylvester folded the paper and dropped it on the table.
'Agent Dakolo called some minutes ago, he'll be here in
the afternoon to get a report on all that we've been doing
concerning the breach we've been experiencing'
'Okay, I've been expecting him to ask for it. I prepared a
report already and he doesn't even need to come here,
we could mail it to him' Henry said.
'I think he'll also like to get some explanations, that's why
he wants to come physically' Sylvester put in.
'No problem, we'll be ready for him'
'So what do we do now with Mr Dayo's piece?' Sylvester
asked as he got up from the chair, ready to leave for his
office.
'We'll just keep it and keep working, we need something
deeper' Henry tapped the enter key on her laptop
keyboard in a loud manner and then relaxed into his
seat, signifying that he was through with what he was
doing. He stared up at Sylvester's face. 'You know we are
trying to entrap this group, so we have to be wiser than
they are. We cannot afford to use simple keys and scripts
in tackling them, that'll be making mockery of ourselves'
'Alright then' Sylvester shrugged and turned to leave.

**Kabakawa, Batagarawa Katsina, Katsina State. **
After lodging in an hotel for two days, the team finally
moved into the rented apartment for which they had
paid the rent fee for a year. The house wasn't too
expensive but it was big enough to contain all of them. It
was already furnished to their taste before they moved
in.
They had chosen a flat with three bedrooms in the two
storey building house with a total of six flats. Theirs was
located by the left side on the middle floor. Tarasha had
carefully chosen an apartment for them in an open area
this time, it would reduce the rate of unnecessary
suspicions. But they also had to be extra careful and
watchful.
It was Monday morning and work had begun already.
Cole was seated behind a table, composing an email on
his laptop to inform the Ata's foundation of their team's
arrival into the country. Benny was in one of the rooms
where he and Cole had chosen for themselves, arranging
the new arms and ammunitions into the wardrobe. He
neatly arranged the various sizes of bullets and sealed
explosives in a section. He arranged the pistols in another
section and long guns in another. The last section was
used to store his clothes and Cole's.
Aisha was also in her room, setting the place in the order
she wanted. She hissed on seeing the little bag of clothes
which she brought to the place. Although the bag was
actually the biggest bag amongst all bags of clothes the
team had brought, she still thought it to be small. Their
kind of job would not satisfy her desire to always take
her best clothes around town.
She hissed again as she saw herself in the mirror on
bending to arrange the makeup kits placed in front of the
mirror. What did she even need the clothes for now that
her hair was gone? She looked like a man, she thought.
She gave a brief mockery laugh at herself as she rubbed
her palms on the head. She then turned back to pick a
small case which contained more makeup kits. That
wasn't for her but for the team, the team would
frequently need to change their appearances on this
operation. Another small bag was lying beside the case, it
contained camouflage materials like artificial beards,
masks, wigs and even skinlike gloves.
Benny walked into the living room after he was done with
arranging the tools, he met Cole already closing his
laptop.
'Have you finished typing the email?' He asked as he
moved to sit on the couch.
'Yes, we'll see it when we come back from the boutique'
Cole answered, standing up with his closed laptop in his
hand.
'You want us to go now?' Benny seemed not too
comfortable with the idea.
'Yes, what else should we do now?'
'Why don't you send the email now and let's see their
reply, they may probably engage you in a chat' Benny
tried to convince Cole.
'I've sent the mail to the Boss first for vetting, until she
replies us we cannot forward it to the foundation' Cole
responded with a wry look on his face. 'Dust your lazy a-s
and let's go out to get the clothes now. I'll go get Aisha.'
With that Cole walked away, leaving Benny who remained
on the seat tiredly. For Benny, it was always fun to get
new clothes but this one was different, the clothes would
have to be disposed off at the end of the operation.

'You went this far?' Dakolo stared Henry in the face as he
read the report provided to him. 'Even the US CCTV
officials have not discovered up to this, nice job' he
commended cheerfully jamming his palms together.
'Thank you sir' Henry smiled.
'The only thing that looks similar in this their report is…'
Dakolo began but stopped abruptly. He bent to bring out
the report from the US CCTV from his small brief case
which was placed by the leg of the chair he was seated.
He placed the binded four pages report on Henry's table.
Sylvester was the first to pick up the report and open it.
Dakolo opened back Henry's report which was still in his
hands. He began to flip the pages until he got to the last.
'Here' he said, pointing a particular area on the page.
'This code looks similar to theirs'
Henry bent forward to look at where Dakolo was
pointing. Dakolo handed it over to him to have a better
view.

That was one of the most mysterious encryption code
Henry had ever come across. He had never seen the key
words anywhere else before and since he discovered the
script, he not been able to decrypt it.
Dakolo collected the report Sylvester was holding and
opened to the second page. 'Here ' he pointed another
area to for Henry to look at. The encryption script Henry
saw in the US report was similar to the one in his report.

'What??' Henry's lips vibrated as he fixed his eyes on the
code, looking slightly baffled. He took his eyes off to
Dakolo face. 'The assassin group is larger than we
thought, it's a worldwide organization'
Dakolo licked his lips slowly and silently as he watched
Henry fix his eyes again to the report.
'Can I…' Sylvester who was anxious to see the correlation
stretched forth his hand impatiently to collect the
reports from Henry.
'So now that we know that we are dealing with a
worldwide assassin group, we have to up our game'
Dakolo finally spoke. 'Your engineers have to be
informed about what they are dealing with. And I think
the corporation has to establish a strong connection with
the US corporation'
'Wow! I wasn't aware that there have been breaches in
the CCTV operations in the US too' Henry spoke in low
tones, relaxing his back in the seat.
'There have been' Dakolo replied him, tapping a finger on
the table as he stared into the air and inhaled. 'The breaks
always comes during the period of assassinations just like
ours'
'Hmm… Same strategies, same codes' Henry said
thoughtfully.
Dakolo stared at Henry's face for a moment. 'Henry E.G, I
need to ask you some questions' Dakolo stated after a
brief moment of silence.
Henry sat upright and adjusted himself to pay attention,
surprised at the Agent's sudden change of tone. 'What
questions sir?'
'You were kidnapped recently' Dakolo paused and stared
at Henry's face, noticing a change. It was obvious to him
that Henry wasn't comfortable with the new subject.
'Yes sir' Henry confirmed reluctantly.
'It happened after you got a job from the late Chief Jubril
Lawal?' Dakolo continued, making sure he maintained
eye contact with Henry. Henry noticed this and decided
to try as much as possible to hide his expressions, else
the Agent would extract every information from him
even if he tried to lie.
'Yes, I don't know if the job was for Chief Jubril but it was
brought to us by one of his workers' Henry answered.
'Chief Jubril sent him' Sylvester quickly put in.
Dakolo took a glance at Sylvester and fixed his eyes back
to Henry's face. 'Let's talk about your abduction first. It
lasted for less than a day. How did you escape?'
'I was told that they left us to go after they had a
disagreement amongst themselves' Henry replied.
'You were told?'
'Yes, I was knocked out. I only opened my eyes after
we've moved far away from there'
'You and your girlfriend?'
'No, but a very close lady friend'
'Well, I don't need to go into details of how you were
abducted that day. I know that you have been questioned
about that already.' Dakolo adjusted to a more
comfortable seating position and placed his chin on his
right fist. 'You mentioned during your interrogation with
the police that your suspect was Dare, Chief Jubril's son?'
'Yes' Henry confirmed with a nod.
'But you didn't mention to me that you've seen him
recently' Dakolo frowned.
'Sir, we've not really been able to discuss personal
matters since you came into town'
'That's true.' Dakolo paused and turned to Sylvester who
was already clearing his throat to announce his desire to
leave since he felt he wasn't concerned with the
questioning.

nodded in reply and comported himself. Dakolo turned
back to Henry.
'Let's push the personal matters aside for now' Dakolo
continued with Henry. 'Did you ever think that the kidnap
could be related to the job brought by the late Chief's
PA?'
'No' Henry replied sharply after narrowing his eyes
thoughtfully.
'You don't think so?'
'Yes, I don't' Henry shook his head in negative to
emphasize. He thought again briefly. Omotara was the
suspect behind the number he was investigating, so was
it really possible that she had planned their kidnap.
'So you insist that it could have only been Dare Lawal?'
Dakolo pressed. 'Wait' he cut in before Henry could
speak. 'What was the result of your investigation?'
Henry's heartbeat increased thrice in speed. The question
he was scared of have been finally asked. Was he now
going to turn Omotara in? Knowing fully well that Agent
Dakolo would not stop until he fishes out who Alexander
Evelyn really was and probably even associate her with
the Chief's assassination which Henry believed Omotara
was innocent about.

This story is about a Lady Assassin who was
trained in Russia, specially skilled in the art and
carrying out the job with no fears, restraints or
apologies.
She became so powerful and was greatly feared
by several of her male counterparts, including
some of the masters who trained her. She hated
so many things, God was number one on her
hatred list.
She came down to Nigeria and was still involved
in her profession until she met someone who
was willing to help her start a new life.
But people from the past came into her life

Completing an interview looked as though there was only one on-camera reporter talking in front of the camera alone and it appeared as though it could be casually carried out anywhere and anytime but in fact, it was actually a huge project that required the precise cooperation of an entire professional team to complete, particularly an interview involving patronages.
Upon hearing the urging from the other side of the phone, Julie, an experienced interviewer, turned bright right away as she increased her pace. "Henry, I suddenly have a hunch that a good fortune is befalling us…"
"Your hunch is not bad, miss. That old fellow Patin actually quietly obtained an opportunity to interview the boss behind LS through some backdoor methods. In fact, even though that Asian skinny guy who looks prematurely senile always keeps a low profile, and there's a lot of 'news hit' on him. This is a very unusually rare opportunity. Seizing it will likely make you a real anchor... "
"Archers, you have 15 — no, 14 minutes to get to the Ocean Empire Building! We'll leave now immediately!" Stimulated by the words on the phone, the female reporter who rushed into the interview car yelled at the driver excitedly and shouted at her cell phone, "Of course I understand that this opportunity is very rare! Henry, stop talking, and quickly send me the information about the interview target and interview questions."
"Ok, I'll send them to you right away! I wish you success, girl!" The last sentence resonated from the other side of the phone and the call was hung up right away. After more than ten seconds later, when Cathy, who was the assistant, was fixing Julie's makeup, a compressed email was sent to the tablet of the female reporter.
Without wasting even one minute, Julie opened the mail impatiently while allowing Cathy to continue to touch up her face with a small delicate brush.
Due to the reason that the internet network in Noah World had just recently been established, and the sudden eruption of the chaotic war had turned to get a complete copy of the information into a dream. There was not much information about the young Asian boss of LS Group.
Other than some brief legendary introductions of how he had founded the LS slaughterhouse and established the foundation of the group that had a net worth of tens of billions of dollar at the age of seventeen, and had published a joint publishing paper in the world's top academic magazines such as 'Science' and 'Natural Biology' at almost the same time, and had directly entered Stanford to study a doctorate degree in Biology, there were only a few more news articles of mixed judgments.
Swiping her finger continuously to read all the information quickly, Julie was just about to study the interview question carefully when she suddenly found that the photo in the photo report on the tablet screen had an inexplicable familiarity, prompting her to murmur, "I should have seen this photo before but I don't have any impression about it at all. How strange…"
"Do you mean the photo of the boss behind LS, Miss?" Cathy, who had just finished touching up the makeup for Julie, tilted her head and looked at the tablet curiously, "Lisheng Zhang? This name is really familiar. Oh, that's right, Riley's Asian brother's name seems to sound like this as well. And their facial features are a bit similar. Maybe he can make an impression of the LS Group's boss ten years later if he starts to take drugs."
After becoming a god, Zhang Lisheng had become healthy and young, completely unlike his often pale and skinny appearance that he used to have when he had to feed his wizard guys with his blood essence.
On top of that, Asians looked similar in the eyes of the Westerners so even though the female reporter had sharp professional observations, she could not see through the truth just based on one old news photo.
She merely laughed and told her assistant, "Don't be so mean, Cathy. Riley is your good friend."
Since the time was pretty rush, Julie did not think too much and merely swiped the tablet and began to work out the interview questions.
At the same time, the interview car galloped under the hot sunshine of New Washington A and finally arrived at the entrance of the Ocean Empire Hotel early about ten minutes later.
"We've arrived, miss. 11 minutes and 47 seconds! It's a miracle! It looks like my destiny is not to be an ordinary interview driver but an F1 driver, isn't it?" The driver with a brownish-red Mexican face of the interview car remarked proudly as he parked the car steadily.
"The reason you could make such a miracle today is because you haven't encountered any red light all the way, and there's no red light on the F1 track anyway, so you know what? Just drive your interview car with peace, Archers." Jotting down the key point of the interview speedily, Julie breathed a long sigh of relief and got out of the car. Together with her assistant, photojournalist, lighting engineer, and so on, she entered the hotel.
Unlike the hot and dry weather peculiar to the daytime of a sandy oasis city outside, the lobby of the Ocean Empire Hotel, which had a combination of natural scenery and modern civilization, was cool and humid. Unfortunately, before the female reporter and her group of followers could even catch their breath, the reception staff of the LS Group had already gone up to greet them together with a group of their NBC TV colleagues.
After studying Julie from up to down several times in a scrutinizing gaze, one of LS' receptionists, a tall and solemn-looking middle-aged African-American woman wearing an old-fashioned gray suit extended her hand and said, "You must be Miss Julie Mihr, the anchor host from NBC. I'm Lans Flittel, the Director of the Media Department at LS Group. Nice to meet you."
"Good afternoon, Madam Lans, I'm very honored to be able to work with you but before this, may you please allow me to ask about the situation of my injured colleague first?" Julie shook hands with a middle-aged woman with force and asked sincerely.
"Of course, please feel free to do so."
"Tommy, how's Luke?" The girl smiled at Lans with a thankful smile and turned her head to ask her colleague.
Upon seeing that Julie did not mention the interview when she first arrived but asking about the competitor's injuries first, the ugly expressions on the few unlucky fellows, who had encountered the accident but was safe, but whose hard work had gone down the drain, eased a little. Somebody answered in a low spirit, "He's still being rescued in the hospital but he's out of danger now."
"That's good." Julie nodded with a relieved expression and immediately entered the main topic. Turning her head, she told Lans, "Madam Lance, I've already jotted down the interview questions on the way, but I have some new ideas. Can I have some of your time to discuss this with you?"
"Miss Julie, the interview questions were concluded after three full days of meticulous discussion." Lans said with a frown. "The reason I agree to you taking over the interview is because of your relatively gentle interview style. But now that you said so, just minutes before the interview…"
"I only need three to five minutes, Madam. I just need you to listen to my opinions, please. You can disregard it if you don't agree to it after listening to it."
"Alright then." Lans raised her hand and look at her watch. "You have 5 minutes."
"Thank you, Madam. It's like this, I hope that I can ask Dr. Lisheng a few innocuous personal questions at the beginning of the interview so as to shorten the distance between him and the general audience..." Julie voiced out her opinions rather quickly. amazingly, she managed to add three questions in just a few minutes' time, causing the colleagues who thought that she was merely lucky for obtaining this opportunity to see her in a new light.
After successfully reaching a consensus with the head of the LS Group's media department, Julie eagerly turned her attention to her former partner. "Hanks, I'm ready, can we start recording the opening credit now?"
"You're really anxious, Julie. Oh, if it wasn't for the fact that this Madam Lans from the LS's media department doesn't recognize my overly spicy interview style, this opportunity should have been mine..." Hanks seemed to want to crack a magnanimous joke but the apparent sullen expression on his face showed that he was actually in a bad mood at this moment.
However, when the camera that had turned on turned towards this ace reporter, his expression immediately became professional. "Good afternoon everyone, I'm Hanks Elton. I'm currently live from the hotel lobby that has a unique sense of style of the Ocean Empire Building, the landmark building of New Washington A… In a while, my beautiful colleague Julie Mihr will meet with a legendary person… Let us ask Julie together, are you ready?"
"Aww, Hanks don't be like this. I'm starting to become nervous again being asked by you and the audience in front of the TV..,"
Under the cooperation of two experienced and natural seasoned reporters, the opening credits of two to three minutes finished recording.
After that, the reception staff of LS brought the two interview groups, that had mixed together and appeared to be parading mightily, and more than half of the program department group to the staff-only elevator.
They went straight up the hotel's executive floor on the eighty-sixth floor, crossed a long corridor covered with red cashmere carpet and soon saw a huge scanning door standing tall in front.
Behind the door was a single desk used by a girl with a supermodel figure and a pretty face; further behind were more than ten burly men in police anti-riot gear who were standing straight against the wall.
The scene before their eyes took the knowledgeable TV station staffs by surprise. Then, when they were just about to remove all metal objects from their bodies automatically, Lans suddenly chimed in, "Everyone, this is not a metal scanner. You can safely pass through it as long as you're not carrying a weapon. Of course, if anyone has the habit of carrying a gun or a dagger longer than five centimeters, you'd have to take them out and we guarantee that we'll keep them well for you. We'll return them to you when you leave."
"Please rest assured, Madam Lans, we NBC staffs don't have the habit of interviewing people with weapons." After staring at each other in surprise, Julie replied with a wry smile on behalf of all her colleagues and took the lead to walk through the scanning door with brisk footsteps. Then, she told the young girl who looked like a secretary behind the door, "Miss, I'm Julie Mihr, a reporter from NBC TV and we have an appointment to interview Dr. Lisheng."
"I'm Alice Jolie, the head of the LS Group's security department. Dr. is already waiting for you. Please follow me, Miss Julie." The girl stood up and responded with a polite smile. However, she waited until all of the TV staff members had passed through the scanner without exception before turning around to lead Julie to continue this endless journey.
They walked through another long corridor and finally came to a huge classic carved mahogany arch at the end of the corridor.
Alice gently pushed open the wooden door and walked into the office the size of half a football field, before saying softly to a back bathed in dazzling sunlight, "Dr., the NBC reporters are here now."

Michael and Jennifer set up at their table and waited for candidates. They waited for nearly two hours and still did not get any candidates visiting their table. 

" Why are people not visiting our table?" Michael asked Jennifer. He was tired of waiting for candidates without getting any results. 

" Well, there are multiple reasons. The biggest reason would be that we are a completely unknown company. People have never heard from us; Startups always have a hard time hiring initially because people do not want to take a risk with a new company. In addition, we also have the worst spot in the whole event." Jennifer explained. She could understand Michael's concerns; however, she knew from experience that startups faced a lot of obstacles like this.

Michael was dejected at Jennifer's response. At this rate, they would not be able to hire anyone today. Michael had instructed Jennifer to offer competitive salaries and benefits package. They would even offer sign-on bonuses for experienced personnel. However, all of the benefits would be useless if they could not attract candidates. 

" Be patient Michael. In the beginning, the candidates will mostly visit the big companies; later in the day we will get our chance." Jennifer explained. She understood how hard it was for new companies to attract talented employees. Michael was clearly not experienced in business and lacked patience.

While they were talking, a man dressed in a black suit walked towards their table. He grabbed the brochure and flipped through it. " Are you guys hiring accountants?" 

" Yes, we are looking for accountants. We are new startup so we are looking to hire in all departments." Jennifer replied. She was curious as to the reason why this man chose them over the fortune 500 companies. 

" Well, My name is Kevin Malone. I have 15 years experience in accounting." The candidate explained while handing his resume to Jennifer. 

Jennifer was taken back by the wealth of experience Kevin had. However, as she read his job history her smile turned into a frown. Now she understood why Kevin chose an unknown company like them. He had been an accountant at Krebs for five years. 

Krebs was a company that got caught committing fraud. They would exaggerate earnings and tried to hide expenses in their financial statements. Last year several executives had been arrested and were awaiting trial. Naturally, an accountant from such a company would not be hired by established companies. She explained the issue to Michael to see his response. 

Michael listened to Jennifer's explanation and then turned to Kevin. He planned to use his Deception detection skill to interrogate Kevin. If Kevin was involved in the fraud then Michael would not hire him; However, if Kevin was innocent then he would be a great addition to the team. 

" Did you know what was happening at Krebs? Were you involved in the fraud? " Michael asked Kevin.

" I knew what was happening. As an accountant there was no way it could escape my deception; however, I did not have a choice. The executives had made to decision and we were supposed to just follow orders. My plan was to look for another job and then when I leave the company, report it to authorities." Kevin explained. 

He knew that he was guilt for going along with the fraud; however, he had to think of his family. His wife was sick and so the whole family was being supported by his income. Unfortunately, the company got busted before he could find another job. Since then he had not been able to find another job and had been in dire straits.

Michael was taken back by Kevin's honesty. His skill told him that Kevin was telling the truth. He could understand the helpless situation Kevin was in when his superiors decided to commit fraud. 

" Let's Schedule an interview Monday," Michael explained to Jennifer and Kevin. He wanted to get one more interview in before hiring Kevin. Besides job fairs were meant to get candidates to fill out applications or turn in resumes. The top candidates would be asked to come in for an interview and then be considered for a position. 

Jennifer was taken back by Michael's willingness to consider someone with a questionable background; perhaps many first time entrepreneurs would refuse to take the risk. She knew that humans could not be classified as good or evil. There were people who made mistakes in the past and needed a second chance to prove themselves again. 

After Kevin left, the Empyreal Holdings table continued to look deserted. It was already Noon and they only had one candidate so far. Michael was tired of waiting and being ignored. He was still trying to figure out how to attract employees when he heard a Mission alert from the system. 

[Mission 3: Attracting Followers

Mission Objective: An emperor needs followers to support his empire. Unfortunately, everyone has to start from the bottom. The Hiring fair is already halfway completed and you only have one resume so far. Find a way to attract more candidates at the job fair. 

Rewards: Free Talent Recognition Skill. Tier will be decided by the number of applications/resumes gathered. ]

Michael was taken back by the mission. It seems that the system was making up missions in real time to guide him towards being an emperor. At least the Talent recognition skill will come in handy. This was the first time a skill was offered as a mission reward. Since it was free he had no complaints. 

Michael looked around; he did not know how to immediately attract candidates. He spent a couple of minutes brainstorming. Looking at the clock he noticed it was noon already; his stomach grumbled demanding food. That's when a light bulb went off in Michael's head. All these candidates were desperate for a job; so they would even skip lunch to talk to another potential employer. The same issue happened to the companies; they were hungry for top talents so they too adamantly waited by their tables.

Michael immediately ordered food to be delivered. He mostly ordered snacks that would not create a mess, in order to avoid angering the hosts. Within 20 minutes Michael walked up to the front and paid for donuts, cinnamon buns, and croissants. He carried it all the way back to his table while taking the extra long path to make sure people smelled his goodies.

Jennifer was astonished to see Michael walking to their table with bags of snacks. Was he so hungry that he could not wait any longer? She thought to herself. 

Michael set up the food on their table and waited for the hungry candidates. Soon people followed the enticing smell and walked to Empyreal holdings table. 

" Is this food free? " One of the candidates asked.

" Of course, Feel free to dig in." Michael replied while pointing to the food.

The candidates were starving and so immediately dug in and gorged on the food. After eating they paid attention to the generous company and left resumes.  Soon candidates started flooding in while trying to grab a bite to satiate their hunger. 

Jennifer watched the spectacle with an astonished look on her face. Right now their table had more candidates than any other company. Michael had ordered enough food to feed an army. The resumes were piling in and she was bombarded by questions about the company. 

After a couple of hours the food had run out; however, nearly all the hungry candidates were satisfied. Empyreal Holdings had received nearly 250 applications. 

Michael smiled at the results. He remembered a quote from history class " An army marches on its stomach". This quote was absolutely true; just the simple notion of being considerate and finding a solution to the hunger of the candidates left a deep respect in the hearts of many people for Empyreal Holdings.

Michael was just an ordinary boy living in modern-day America. He grew up in an orphanage with a bleak future. One day he acquired a mysterious package only to inherit a system. Join Michael as he changes his fate and conquers his destiny; armed with a mysterious system that tries to convince him to take over the world.
