However, write journal for your entire life must be a very useful. It will come in handy in your old day or in the reunion.
Norbert Glowing Quartz, a male pupil at Heartcore Junior High School which has his father works on the Senior High School try to do so. He always wants to be able to write one.
But how if he won't get a time to do so? How if the memories he have to write isn't fun? How if he have to not be the main character on his own journal?

Hi, I’m Miki Kira, I’m 16 yrs. old.  I usually like to write and journal about my life, and how I feel around others ,and how I see people.  No one knows that I journal.  I want it to stay that way.  If everyone knew I journal, they’d take it and throw it away.  I can’t risk losing my beloved journal..

The twins were going 60 along the highway with Jamee driving the car. They were singing along to whatever the radio plays. They sang like it was their concert.

"Jamee, seriously, you got to take voice lessons. Your loud screeching is hurting my ears."

James said while plugging his ears with his index fingers.

"Really? Says the guy whose voice made children cry when he sang a lullaby at dad's kindergarten?"

Jamee laughed while recalling the moment.

"Shut up. You're just jealous cause dad picked me to come with him to "bring your child to work day" instead of you."

James retorted.

"Yeah, because dad misspelled my name on the permission slip, "Please excuse my daughter, James Conner..."

Jamee remarked trying to control her laughter.

"Well, they couldn't have made two different names for their twins, so just change the last letter of the first name."

James points out.

"Yeah."

Jamee replied while maneuvering the car and parking it between two large cars.

"Welp, we're here. And you're driving home later."

"Yeah. Sure."

Jamee ran, dodging every person in her way. She was headed towards the usual spot she and her friends hang out. 

Their own secret garden at the school's mini forest. Complete with a run-down stone bench and table. They always meet up there before they go to their class, eat lunch and snacks, and gossip around. It's literally like a second home to them.

Jamee arrived at the usual spot, but she did not see Tina and Maddy. She sat there to catch her breath.

"Well, this is a first. I'll just wait here, and write about the first time I arrived first at our, not so secret, secret garden in my journal to pass the time."

Jamee took out her journal and started writing.

"July 3, 2018; This princess got to sing with birds. Mom made too many pancakes for our dear hoboes, Tim and Ray Ray. James, as usual, is a weirdo who I think was raised at a farm with pigs as his companions. And for the first time in history, I arrived at the garden before Tina and Maddy. My day started so good, nothing could bring me down."

The school bell suddenly rang, time for the first subject.

"And here goes the bell. Guess I'm flying solo for today."

Jamee wrote before gathering her things and left.

The corridors were busy with students loitering and running around. It was very crowded and noisy, you can't even hear yourself think.

"Excuse me, excuse me. EXCUSE ME! LATE STUDENT, COMING THROUGH!"

Jamee exclaimed as she tries to get past the crowd. When she arrived, she faced towards the crowd and said,

"Thank you."

While bowing, not minding what the people would think.

When she continued inside the room, she saw Tina and Maddy gossiping. She was curious of why they did not wait at the garden so she approached and sat next to them.

"Backstabbing much?"

While grinning and arranging her things on her chair.

"Backstabbing?? Who said anything about backstabbing?"

Maddy nervously said.

"Mads, relax, chill. Okay? I was just kidding."

Jamee said, reassuring Maddy.

"Why didn't you guys wait for me at the HQ?"

Jamee said while looking for her notebook. Tina and Maddy exchanged a knowing look like they were hiding something.

"Oh. Uhm, we had some—"

Tina said while looking at Maddy for help with an excuse.

"Stuff."

Maddy added. Tina then looked at her getting irritated at how Maddy was useless.

"Yeah, some stuff."

Tina repeated.

Jamee looked at them suspiciously.

"Stuff?"

She asked, staring at them for clarification.

"Guys, seriously, if you're talking about drugs, I swear I'm going to turn you—"

Before Jamee could finish what she was saying, Tina covered her mouth.

"Ssshhh! What— are you crazy? Are you trying to get us in trouble?"

Tina exclaimed in a whispery voice.

"Well, soooorry."

Jamee said while trying to compose herself after getting attacked by a vicious hand. And Tina wiping her hand onto her skirt because she could have sworn that Jamee licked her hand.

They went silent for a moment then Jamee broke the silence.

"So ARE you—"

"NO!"

Tina shouted. Startling everybody in the room. Everyone was now staring her. Tina then covered her face. And Jamee just laughed.

"Okay, okay. So what were you talking about earlier?"

Jamee asked.

"Just some stuff."

Maddy replied.

"Oh my gosh! Again with the stuff?!"

Tina exclaimed. Jamee stared.

"Are you guys okay? Are you fighting, or something?"

Jamee asked, getting more curious.

"No. If you must know, we were just talking about—"

Tina said, pausing to think about what she was going to say. Jamee, waiting for her.

"Trevor."

Tina continued, while looking at Jamee for a reaction.

"Trevor?? What about Trevor???"

Jamee asked, getting excited.

Trevor is Jamee's neighbor and long time crush. She is so obsessed with him. She knows all his subjects, schedule, likes, dislikes, everything about him. And the only people who know about her secret is Tina and Maddy. She talks about him everyday, making Tina and Maddy know about his life too.

"We were talking about how we think he likes you too."

Tina said. Maddy looked at Tina, confused.

"Reallyyyy??? Why? Why? Why?"

Jamee getting excited and impatient.

"He talks to me about you all the time. He's so into you."

Tina said. Maddy getting really confused.

"Oh my gosh! This is truly the best day ever! I'm gonna write this on my journal. I shall mark the day I found out that Trevor McKenzie also likes me."

While Jamee was writing on her journal, Maddy whispered to Tina.

"I thought Trevor liked YOU?"

"Ssshh. All will be revealed soon."

Tina slyly said. Jamee was just finishing her writing.

"And this just in, Trevor likes me too."

Jamee murmured while writing. Suddenly their professor comes in.

"Okay class, good morning."

The class responded, others still sounding sleepy. Jamee still having the biggest smile ever.

"Let her enjoy it first."

Tina added.

Jamee is a happy-go-lucky girl who has tons of friends, and a supportive and caring family. She has a great life until everything changed.

She suddenly has a fall out with her friends, and her family seems like they have better things to do than spend time with her.

She feels lonely and does not know what to do because she is used to having people around.

While she is struggling with loneliness, she slowly becomes too afraid of making friends, resulting in depression and later on having suicidal thoughts.

She becomes mentally unstable as she somehow confuses reality with her nightmares, or the other way around. 

She needed help but no one was there for her. Except for herself.

She hides behind her usual smile and laughter, hoping someone would eventually save her from herself.

Eden just lies down on her sleeping bag inside her tent, a flickering candle providing a dim light beside her as she flipped the pages of her journal in the beginning first pages to where she had written her first entries from when the zombie apocalypse began, how it started and when it started.

Eden's gaze was almost distant as she read the written entries again as she remembered those dark horrific time that happened so suddenly a year before.

She decided to write another entry to her recent one, reached for her pen that was there beside the candle, and despite the low dim light, she can see very well to read and write even in the dark.

JOURNAL ENTRY: DAY UNKNOWN, 8TH MONTH AUGUST, 2XXX

Hey, it's me again, Eden.

I had to write this down just so you can get the idea of how long has it been since I had remembered on when, where, and how this apocalypse all began.

It had all happened and started so suddenly that anyone including me wouldn't have expected it at all or was even prepared for it.

It was just a year ago that it all began.

Starting the first days when I first moved into this city, thinking that this place might be the chance I'm looking to have a normal life.  Me finding and living a simple apartment, searching and working in a normal job and so on as normal and simple like that.

But I didn't know that everything was going to change.

Just go to the beginning.

And you'll understand.

Eden finished writing, put her pen aside and then flipped to the first pages again, reading the first entries once more before the candle goes out and she goes to sleep peacefully for another night.

Her mind wandered off as she read her first written entries again, remembering those times.

A YEAR AGO BEFORE APOCALYPSE

Eden was so happy that she felt like screaming with joy as she finally putting the last storage box into the storage room inside her new and cheap apartment she's now living in, after moving into the metropolitan city.

She looked around at her space which is already filled with furniture and stuff and decently made up in a simple homely appearance.

She was happy at this kind of simple set-up for she isn't like most people who wanted to decorate in a fancy or messy way.

Once she double-checks everything and saw that everything is all fixed up and fitted to her satisfaction, she went straight towards her desk where a newly-bought big book is at the top and a new pen is there beside it.

She opened it, almost caressing her new personal item like it's a treasure and then started writing on the first blank page.

JOURNAL ENTRY: 1ST DAY, 1ST MONTH JANUARY, 2XXX

Hi! This is Eden, the new owner, and writer of this new journal.

I just moved here into the metropolitan city.  But I will not write here exactly where and who I am, because if ever I lost this book somewhere in the city whenever and wherever I bring it along, I'd rather not have some stranger find out even if it's a kind Samaritan one or something.

There are plenty of other journals in the world obviously, so it's not a loss that I lost this one, even if it's like a diary to me.

It's not like I don't care if someone did read what's inside it since it's just some random stuff I write in here about what I'm doing in my life, what my thoughts are and venting out my frustrations.

Anyway, I'm getting a little sidetracked.

I just found and moved into a new apartment, it's simple and luckily cheap.  And it's in a good neighborhood where I don't have to worry about coming home late at night and worry about some gangsters that are going to be roaming about the streets.

Not that I don't know whether there are in this city I moved in.  But I hope there aren't some here.

Seriously, all I want and wish for in my life is a quiet and peaceful normal life for once.

Since the beginning when I was a kid, my whole life has been noisy, hectic and a complete mess with me being someone used something like a punching bag verbally or used as an outlet from my own family's frustrations.

Don't get me wrong. I love my family and I do really.

But for once in the former past of my life, would it be nice for them to at least not try to use me as a verbal punching bag for almost all my life?

I have ignored them or tuned them out whenever they talked bad to me as if I didn't do anything good in my life, since my high school, college and now my first ex-job days.

Hey, all I want is just normal life.  That's it.

Simply put, it's not like I want to go anywhere if I had super-high grades or anything.

I don't want to be one of those people looking for supreme and high-end rich jobs that will provide so much for me and my family.

That's not me at all.

Sure, my whole family has been medium-poor in a way of sorts.  But it's not like we're about to go homeless so soon.

That's just me sounding a bit selfish for myself but I'm telling the truth here.

Anyway, I finally had enough and when I secretly saved enough money for myself, I left my family behind without looking back except leaving a simple note and then moved away to this city so that I can firmly become a sole independent.

Most of my life, I have been doing something for my life, it's just that my family didn't even consider listening to me or giving me a chance to show it.

Well, who cares about them?

As the saying goes, they'll reap what they sow when the time comes.

So right now, before I finish writing this entry.  I'm about to go to my new job, which it's only a part-time job as an office assistant in a small firm during the day and cashier at a small grocery store during the night.

Though it's part-time, I'm just content with that. I have enough money saved up for myself that's with me kept safe and hidden in cash and the one in my bank account.

I'm off to bath and get ready for work.

After Eden finished writing her first entry in her new book journal, she stopped and put down her pen and sighed and stretched her arms up high as if instantly tired from writing and then rotated her neck around to heal the strain she's feeling inside.

Then she turned her head to look at the curtained windows beside her and the desk she's sitting next to and slowly stood from her chair and went over to it.

Eden moved the curtains a bit, staring at the grand and beautiful view before her which is going to be usual and normal in her new life.

She wouldn't trade it for anything and if ever in the future that something goes wrong, she won't go back to her life before and keep on trying and moving forward to stay and live in the city.

Then she let the curtains fall back into covering her windows and she walked to her bathroom to shower and prepare herself for her new part-time jobs and start working in her first days living and working in the city.

Little did Eden know, it is that her whole life is going to change.

In an unexpected way that she had never expected and wasn't prepared for it.

It was exactly 7 days later, right there in the same apartment at the same city Eden is living in for only a week now.

Eden came bursting through the door like a bomb just exploded from outside and she ran for cover in her apartment instantly.

She quickly slammed shut and locked the door with the double locks latched as well and she panted heavily as if she was running a long marathon.

Then Eden seemed urgent and panicked and felt like she had to write in her journal to calm herself down from what she seemed to saw or witnessed before.

Sorry, I wrote this so suddenly that I couldn't help but do it.

I'm sure you're wondering why I'm suddenly writing and looking a bit frantic in this entry.

Well, something happened that I didn't expect it at all and I'm pretty sure that the people aren't as well when they saw the news and heard stories and rumors about it.

I don't exactly know when, where and how it happened.

But it did so suddenly that I wasn't even prepared for it.

"Good…" the young heiress smirked, turning to look behind them to see the trio happily exiting out of the Honeydukes shop with multiple bags of sweets. "He can feed off of her. Perhaps not easily." her orbs flashing into serpent eyes. "This way no one will suspect us."
"What shall we do next, Mistress?" Lucius smirked.
"We do nothing Lucius….we let Granger do the rest for us."

Few Days Ago When Stella Passed Out - Stella's Dorm Room with Lucius Malfoy
"Stella. You're the Dark Mistress. Heiress to Slytherin. The Dark Lord and you are engaged."
"What are you talking about Lucius, I'm only 15 and he's nearly 30 years older than me. Moreover he died when I was born."
Lucius looked at the female, noticing how her orbs were drifting into a different shape but reverting back to normal once she blinked again. Stella winced as a slight pang of pain traveled from her eyes to her head.
"No." he replied softly, walking over to her table where Tom Riddle's diary laid open. Flipping to a certain page that contained the Gaunt Family Tree, he held it out to her to read. "You're the daughter of Morfin Gaunt, born in 1968. Your life line was cut short when the mad Gaunt used you to shield him from the killing curse."
Stella looked over to the numbers floating around her name, which indeed showed that her life began in 1968 and then ended in 1979. New numbers revealed itself as if saying her life restarted in 1980 but there was no ending year which she deduced was because she's currently alive.
"Tom Morvolo Riddle. Dark Lord. Voldemort?" she questioned, glancing over the name inscribed onto the journal. "Voldemort is Stella's cousin? They're also a couple?! What is this? Incest!"
Tom Riddle scribbled 'Well...Correct' onto the pages with red ink before flipping to another page.
"What are you two on about. Lucius, explain to me." Stella demanded, wanting to know exactly what was going on. "Who exactly is Stella and who exactly am I?"
"I'm sorry my Lady. I'm afraid only He can tell you about it." Lucius replied.
'Nothing comes free darling. I'll tell you in person once I am revived. I need to feed on someone's life essence in order to return.' Lucius nodded his head as if confirming the female's quizzical gaze. 'I want you to find someone who I can feed off of, someone who I can easily possess, someone you perhaps don't... like? I'll tell you everything you want to know, my love. Everything.' Tom wrote in beautiful calligraphy. 'I'll help you throughout it all.'

Present
While Lucius and Stella stayed together, Draco decided to blow off steam by shopping around for clothes. Remembering how the young Gaunt's wardrobe was fairly revealing, he had originally wanted to come out and purchase new clothings with her. However, due to the embarrassing moment they encountered earlier, they no longer shopped together. Draco entered into a clothing store and browsed through their wide selection of robes and outfits on display.
"Hello young sir. How can I help you?" The shop owner questioned, smiling politely at the young Malfoy.
"Uhm, I'm looking for some clothing for a girl. Something not revealing but still classy and shows off her charm. She often wears really revealing clothes so I don't want something that is a drastic change."
"Oh is it for the missus? Or you're still too young to have one?" The owner grinned, leading Draco to one of the sections.
"Perhaps." Draco smiled, liking how many had referred Stella as his missus or girlfriend.
"Well, would young sire like matching couple outfits or just something for the lady?" Pointing towards the two different aisle of wardrobes that hung beautifully in the air. "If you'd like matching ones, I'd go for these two here. It's very elegant and refined, definitely shows off your aristocratic aura."
With the wave of his wand, few female clothing descended and laid in front of Draco. "These would be nice for the missus, not too revealing but still showing some skin. Casual yet classy."
Draco immediately nodded at the few clothing that he had pointed out. "I'll take all of them, send them to the Malfoy Manor."
"Splendid. Will do. Would you like to pay now or on arrival?" The owner grinned from ear to ear at his largest purchase of the day.
"On arrival." Draco replied, ready to leave the store and rejoin his father and Stella. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a beautiful jade bangle with spirals of green, black, and white marbling that spelled out the letter 'S'.
"How much is that?" He questioned, remembering how Stella had given away her new bracelet to Pansy.
"17 galleons sir. That bangle is only supposed to be given as a betrothal gift though."
Draco places a small coin bag in front of the male's face and smiles. "Wrap it up for me. I'll take it now."
As days have been more peaceful around Hogwarts, Quidditch was fortunately set to be played as scheduled. Blaise Zabini filled in for Adrian Pucey as he was denounced from the title of Chaser due to angering the young Gaunt Heiress causing Lucius Malfoy to bribe the team captain to kick him off the team.
"Lady Stella, will you be watching the game today?" Flint questioned as she helped tie his wrist guards. "Your outfit is beautiful today."
"Perhaps." she smiled. "Thanks, Draco bought it for me." Draco and Blaise watched from afar in disgust as their team captain ogled the younger repulsively. Draco reached inside of his pockets and pulled out the neatly wrapped bangle he had bought the other day.
"When are you going to give it to her?" Blaise questioned, noticing Draco gently placed it into his locker.
"Whenever she deserves it."
"Draco." Stella called out, motioning him to come over. Slamming his lockers shut, the young Malfoy walked over and took his place in front of her. "Don't lose, Seeker." she whispered, tying his cloak tightly and smoothing it out as well.
"Whatever." he muttered, glancing up at Flint as an idea popped in his head. He took a lock of Stella's dark hair and kissed it all while looking at his team captain. Stella's face tinged a slight pink but was easily covered up as she normally had fairly rosey cheeks. Flint's lips twitched slightly, clearing his throat as he summoned his teammates to head onto the field.
The game started out strong for Slytherin as the two seekers merely floated in the center, awaiting for the snitch to come of view. Stella and Lucius sat next to each other as one searched around for a certain female and the other had his eyes on the boy who lived.
'She's making her move…' Stella thought to herself as she noticed that the bushy brown haired female was not present.
"What is he doing.." Lucius snarled under his breath watching as his son taunt the Gryffindor's seeker instead of actively chasing after the snitch. Stella watched as her team accumulated more points up till 120 but if Harry would catch the snitch at this moment, the game would immediately end in favor of Gryffindor.
"Draco….stop being an idiot…" she whispered to herself, clasping her hands together and watching the game intensely. When Harry noticed the Snitch, he knew he needed to pretend he found it elsewhere and make Draco follow. The entire Slytherin team thought Harry had found the snitch causing them to shoot Bludgers at him.
"No you fool!" Stella yelled out, knowing exactly what was happening as she caught a glimpse of the golden snitch and Harry flying in the opposite direction. Draco noticed the young girl standing up but not making out what she had said. "Draco! Eyes forward!" she yelled magically amplifying her voice. With that Draco's eyes flashed forward, the golden snitch coming into view a few feet away from him. The young man charged forward with his broom, chasing after the flying snitch when suddenly a rogue bludger slammed straight into his arm just as he was about to catch it. Draco flew off of his broom from the force and landed into the field below him with a painful crack. Harry had caught the snitch, erupting the stadium with wild cheers and hooting.
'You'll pay for that Katie Bell..'
"Draco!" Stella shot out of her seat and ran towards the field, dropping to Draco who turned away from her in embarrassment. Lucius rolled his eyes at his disappointing son, dipping away from the crowd as he walked off into the unknown.
"Are you okay? Where does it hurt?" Stella's eyes were filled with worry as she noticed his hand was twisted in a painfully disturbing way and his leg was bending in the opposite direction.
"F*..." he muttered, allowing the nurse to carry him away on a stretcher. Stella followed closely behind as they made their way to the infirmary in a flash.
Madam Pomfrey grasped onto the male's arm and with a quick yank, bone cracking pierced through the silent room before a scream of pain echoed right after. Stella hissed at the lady, quickly holding her hand out to the male for him to grab. "Well at least give him a warning."
"Hold onto me, Draco. I'm here." she whispered, watching the nurse make her way to the male's legs.
"This will hurt a lot more…." Madam Pomfrey announced, placing one hand on Draco's knees and the other at his ankle.
"I'm fine." Draco mumbled, tears rimming around his eyes from the first wave of pain from his arm. Stella slipped her hand into Draco's left one and squeezed at it gently, eyes clenched shut as if she was the one that would feel the pain. Draco's eyes watched the young female scrunch her nose and clench her teeth tightly. Reaching out, he wanted to place a hand on her cheek to make her open her eyes.
CRAAACK
"F* Cun*." Draco screamed out in pain, clutching onto Stella's hand from the sudden impact. The young Gaunt felt his pain second hand as he squeezed her hand and let out a painful cry; letting out the breath she was holding the moment Draco released her hand.
"Mind your mouth Mr. Malfoy." Madam Pomfrey reprimanded at his choice of word.
"Why don't you try it yourself and see if you don't curse!" Stella yelled, her eyes flew open seeing a bead of sweat drip from his forehead. The elder sighed and shook her head, walking over to her table and scribbling quickly at a clipboard.

"Oh, hi guys."
Hermione sat near the Fireplace with a small black journal in her hand, quickly shutting it the moment she heard her two friend's loud voices. Her two housemates had been noticing her bizarre behavior recently after their return from Hogsmeade a few days ago but blew it off as Hermione lack of sleep from studying so much. Ron and Harry wanted to ask if she wanted to join their little party in the common area for their victory over the Slytherin Team.
"Why are you always writing in that journal?" Ron questioned, trying to reach for it but was quickly slapped away by his female friend.
"None of your business Ronald." she hissed back, shoving the little book into her robe and running upstairs to her dorm room.
"What's gotten into her?" Ron looked at Harry who looked equally as confused as his red headed companion. "All she ever does is just write in that stupid journal of hers everyday. When did she even buy it?"
"Now that you mention it, I don't think we went into the bookstore at Hogsmeade." Harry remembered, tapping at his chin. "She didn't have it before then either..."
"Oh forget her. Let's party!" the red headed Weasley grinned, leading Harry over to h

EDWARD'S POV

"Hon, what style of house do you want? Something chick or something classic?" my wife, Melanie, asked, "How about we go with something classic?", I said, "We've been going  on all sorts of modern houses, God, I want to go back in time." "Okay then, let's pick a classic one." Melanie said patiently. Melanie is 7 months pregnant now and we've been going from house to house because it's either we don't feel comfortable, or we are drowning in debt. I just want to ensure that whatever place we are going, she feels safe, protected and out of the troubles of the outside world. It's my job to protect my wife, to take care of her and our son, and love her.  I'm working as an author and Melanie is working as a home-based call center agent and a publishing company, Aspen Publishing Inc. offered me a contract that has a promising salary and royalties, which I humbly accepted, but, I need to write a horror book. Yes, a horror book. As you can see, the company already published a lot of books in the genre of romance, mystery, Sci-Fi, action etc. But the only genre missing is Horror or Thriller. So I accepted the offer because I need it. I need it to sustain the needs of my family because that is my duty as a father and a husband.


---------- 2 HOURS LATER ----------

"Edward! Come here!" Melanie called me excitedly, "What is it?" I asked curiously,
"I found us a house that is classic and I hope that you will LOVE it!" she said cheerfully. I checked the house and good Lord, it was indeed beautiful. It was a two story house, that has two bathrooms and four bedrooms. Perfect but too much, I know but I don't care we will buy it. Why? Because the price of the house is just enough for the savings that we have. "It's perfect honey. I love it! Can we buy it?" I said contentedly. "Of course, I will talk with the seller and Bam, the house is ours." Melanie said. "Thank you so much for your determination and effort." I gratefully said and kissed her on the forehead, "It's no big deal, hon, this is something that we need, so don't worry. And besides, Flynn will be born soon. Things are looking great." she said happily. "I'm glad that all things are now settled, we avoided our issues and I even got a book deal from a publishing company and YOU got promoted. All because of our hard work." I said it in a grateful way. Now I've been thankful to God everyday that we overcame all of the issues and troubles that we experienced but we didn't know that this house that we just bought caused a HUGE amount of trouble. A trouble that is terrifying. A trouble that is more head-aching. A trouble that will make you lose your own mind.

------------ 2 WEEKS LATER -------------

We now arrived in our new home called "Bay House" it is owned by the late American soldier, Andrew Bay. I've learned a lot about this guy and his story is inspiring. "Welcome, neighbors to the Bay House! A house that is elegant and historical." a middle aged girl greeted us cheerfully, "I am your neighbor, Susan, and if you think I am indeed beautiful, Thank you and no problem, I already know it since the time I was born." Susan said and after that, she chuckled. "Nice to meet you Susan, I am Edward and this is my wife, Melanie." I said respectfully, "Hello Susan, I am impressed by your self-esteem. Do you want to be friends with me?" Melanie said in a friendly way. "Of course why would we not be friends, oh sexy Melanie. Now let's get inside the majestic house, the Bay House!" Susan said. Now, Susan led us from room to room and she finished her tour in the dining room. "Now, can you give us the background of the Bay House, Susan?" I said curiously, "To be honest, don't be scared, but the story behind this house is pretty messy." Susan said sadly, "What happened, if you don't mind me asking, Susan?" Melanie said curiously but judging form her expression, I can tell that she is nervous. "There is a bloodbath that happened behind this house." Susan said, "WHAT?!" Melanie and I said, shocked. "I know, I know. But let me tell you the story." Susan said patiently, "Andrew Bay did not die because he was assassinated that was just a make believe story, a cover up story for something else. The truth is, he died because he was murdered by her own daughter Malorie Bay." she said. "Oh God" I said shocked after hearing the story, a lot of questions and regrets are now running through my mind. "Malorie, a sixteen year old girl, Malorie, she is sweet and bubbly. But one time, she was bullied and was greatly affected by it and for a long time, she locked herself inside her room and Andrew was already assigned in England to serve his Civic duty. The Bay family consists of Six members, the mother, Sheryl Bay, The two brothers, Andrew and Joshua, and the two sisters, Malorie and Jessica. These three children always hear something at night in Malorie's room, they said that they hear scratching and rather a creepy, dark and deep laugh every 3:30 in the morning. One day, Andrew, was back here in this very house and Malorie went out of her room, went down where the family is making a commotion out of joy and Malorie is holding a knife, they didn't know how she got it and she had red eyes and had a blank expression on her face and she just stabbed all of her relatives including Andrew and Malorie killed herself. And there are rumors that the creature that possessed Malorie is called Azerath, The Red Baron." Susan finished her story, "So the house is haunted?" Melanie asked, terrified, and set her hands on her tummy, protecting her baby. "What happened after that?" I said curiously, because I need to know the whole story, it could be the central topic for my novel. "The police found the bloody incident and announced it as murder and the killer is nowhere to be found. But left some clues, red cloth and a red hat. And after that, a lot of people lived here for years and they just left after a few days." Susan said, "I'm sorry that you have to know this but it's important to know. Anyways, here is the key and enjoy. God bless you." Susan stood up and went out of the house. "Melanie, I know that this is a stupid question, but, are you okay?" I asked my wife, "I'm fine but I need some time alone, this is just too much."


MELANIE'S POV

As I climb up the stairs, tears are running down my cheeks. I know that I may be overreacting but this is dangerous. I have a baby inside of me that in a few weeks, he will be born. I am worried for my baby and I just want him to be safe. Now, I went inside the bedroom, I turned on the lights and the room  is indeed beautiful and has the view of the ocean, this scene is peaceful and it calmed me up. Edward carried our baggages up a while ago so I carefully kneeled down and opened my luggage and picked up my journal.  This journal is given by my English professor, she gave it as a remembrance of the time we spent together as my teacher. I wrote everything I experienced and felt today and as I was writing I heard a thud on the room next to me,  my heart starts to beat faster, my palms start to sweat, and every thought is swirling inside my head, I closed my journal and slowly stood up from the bed. As I was getting near to the door, I saw a shadow underneath it was just there, I silently prayed that it should go away but I knew in my mind that it won't, so I said, "Ed, is that you?" and there was scratching in the door, every scratch gets louder and faster. At that moment, I remembered what Susan told us a while ago, and tears start to stream down again. I settled down my hands in my tummy to protect my baby and I took deep breaths to relax myself. Now, the shadow is gone, and I peeped through the keyhole and there was no one outside. I opened the door and my breath is shaky and as I went out of the room, a frigid wind blew and as I start to walk through the hallway to reach the stairs, I felt a presence behind me, something evil. I fasten the pace of my walk but my legs start to feel shaky and I can't walk faster, I just slowed down even more. Then, the lights start to flicker in the hallway until it's just dark, my breaths are really fast and I am panicking and stressed out and I don't know what to do until I felt a hand in my shoulder, this hand is very cold.... as if it was lifeless but I can sense something. I sensed anger, resentment and pure evil. Because I cannot stop the fear I'm feeling, I screamed.

EDWARD'S POV

As I was reflecting, I heard Melanie scream. I stood up from the chair and ran up the stairs as fast as possible and when I reached the hallway, there she was, crying and afraid but, there is someone holding her, a terrifying creature in red. The Red Baron.

There are many types of power.
  
When people mention power, many think of physical strength.
An overwhelming violence that lets one fulfill their desire, even through force.
  
The law of the jungle was used in the demon world.
That's why violence alone was enough to go against most powers.
  
But it was not all power.
It couldn't be applied to everything.
  
Physical strength and mana was included in the violence.
Powerful strength.
Supreme mana.

In that case, what other powers were there?
  
To Embrio, having power meant being able to fulfill whatever you desired.
Imposing your will onto others. And then fulfilling it.
  
Beauty was another amazing power.
There's a lot of stories of men acting foolishly in order to capture the heart of a beautiful woman.
  
It's being able to instigate the other's desire and make them follow.
It's being able to accomplish your own desire through beauty.
  
Being intelligent and having the ability to speak well was another power.
They were like sharp fangs and they were more than enough to stab the opponent.
  
Embrio acknowledged it.
Those were definitely powers. But they were low-class powers.
  
They were bound to fall in front of overwhelming violence.
They weren't worth much when going against violence.
  
It could sound really ignorant and simple-minded. But that was reality. Embrio watched so many strong figures fall because of violence.
  
The power that was in front of them was like that too.
  
Embrio was standing on a destroyed free city. And he was inside a small and cozy house that was located in the center of the city.

A really old woman was sitting in front of him. She had the power of wisdom and experience. She lived a very long time and during that long time, she made her wisdom and experience her power.
  
She was an advisor and was like a library of knowledge that knew the world's secrets.
  
She didn't have a way of resisting Embrio's violence. It was because she didn't have any knowledge that could make Embrio kneel or anxious.
No, even if she did have something, Embrio wasn't the type to easily surrender.
The demon world was large and there was a limit to her knowledge. The old woman lived in the free city in the southern region and there was probably another who had just as much knowledge as her.
The old woman knew that very woman. That's why she didn't rush in making a deal. She surrendered in front of Embrio's violence and told him everything he wanted to know.
  
"The Seven Deadly Sins. The seven sins. Some call it a fragment of the demon kings and others say that it's the demon kings themselves."
  
She spoke in an exaggerated tone, just like other fortune tellers, but it didn't bother him. Embrio quietly listened and the old woman continued talking.
  
"The one that controls the demon world has always been the one that had one of the sins. But in that case, what is sin? What kind of power did it have that the ones that had it were called kings?"
  
There was no need for an answer. The large wolves that were circling around Embrio started growling and the old woman quietly laughed.
  
"Each of the sins have a power that goes along with the name. But no one knows in detail what kind of power they are. They only make assumptions. For example, lust has the power to tempt the other person and wrath has the power to make others mad."
  
Wrath, Pride, Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Sloth.

"But that's not all. Depending on how it's used, the skill can provide an immense amount of power, but the Seven Deadly Sins...their real power is a lot more pure and essential."

The old woman stopped talking for a moment and looked at Embrio. Many fortune tellers used this method in order to raise the listener's expectations.

Embrio looked at the old woman with an indifferent expression. She closed her wrinkly eyes.
  
"The King of Violence...they're a great king that exists in the demon world and out of the dragons, he can be considered as the most powerful being. Because of that, he's able to stand next to the other kings despite not owning a sin. It's because he has the Dragon Heart, which is a large and powerful lump of mana in the demon world."
  
Out of the six kings that ruled the demon world, he was the only one that didn't own a sin.
Despite just having superhuman powers, he was able to stand next to the other kings.
  
The old woman predicted the end. It was a future that had already been decided right when Embrio entered and destroyed the city. She couldn't go against Embrio's violence with the power that she had and as someone that lived a long life, she chose to have a neat ending.
  
"Embrio, you're the King of Violence. You're not a dragon. You also don't have a sin. That's why...you can't be a king. You won't be able to sit on the throne."
  
The old woman placed a small pipe in her mouth. She inhaled the smoke and Embrio left the house. The wolves gave her her last moment.
  
He couldn't become king because he didn't have a sin.
Embrio shook his head. He wasn't sure if it was a useless resistance, but he denied it.
There was someone that became a king even though he didn't have a sin.
The fact that he was the greatest dragon in the demon world wasn't important.
  
Embrio looked towards the south.
He gazed at the edge of the demon world.

"Sugar, I need sugar…"
  
After interpreting Kaiwan's journal all night, Yong-Ho lay down on top of the desk.
He definitely obtained results.
  
First, his reading comprehension had improved a lot.
There was a saying that it's best to learn a language in bed. Learning from the opposite sex isn't the best. It meant that in order to quickly learn a language, one needed to have the will and interest to learn it.
  
Interpreting Kaiwan's journal was pretty fun.
Peeking into another, especially a girl's journal, wasn't the fun part. Yong-Ho wasn't that low. Never, never.

It was a strong denial, but regardless, Kaiwan's journal was pretty entertaining.
Yong-Ho thought of Kaiwan's journal as a treasure map. The more he interpreted it, the more he learned of the location of the treasure, that was the thought he had, so of course it was entertaining. On top of that, it was a journal, not some document.
  
It was funny how he was trying to interpret the sentence, despite not knowing much about the alphabet, but Kaiwan had quite nice handwriting. There wasn't really a reason to write long sentences, but since she mostly wrote short sentences, it was very readable. And the various comments that popped up were refreshing and witty. Unlike her outer appearance, she actually might've been a cheerful woman.
  
'And she cherished her little brother the most.'
  
It wasn't an exaggeration to say that half of her journal was about her little brother. If he didn't know before, then he would've mistaken Kaiwan as his mother, not an older sister.
  
After Kaiwan went missing...How would've Kaiwan reacted if she found out about her little brother's life?
  
She was like his mom and as someone he looked up to, he was losing her inheritance day by day.
The disease in his weak body would die with him and he didn't even get the chance to resist.
  
Kaiwan was younger than he had imagined.
Saying that she was more like a child was fitting.
  
'Same age as me...Maybe one or two years older.'
  
Kaiwan didn't write in her journal every single day. Sometimes she would write every day and other times, she would write a few times a week.
After reading the information on the first page, he realized that this was her fifth and last journal.
If he assumed that one journal contained two years worth of entries, then it meant that she disappeared in her early 20's.
  
A little girl in her teens became the owner of a falling family. And for 10 years, she managed to overcome all sorts of difficulties and helped the family rise up.
  
He was able to get an idea of how strong Kaiwan was. But he was sure that Kaiwan was a lot stronger than Yong-Ho's current power.
  
Yong-Ho looked at Kaiwan's ring, which was on his left hand, and raised his upper body. He only managed to interpret the beginning of the journal and after closing it, he placed a large piece of paper in front of him.
  
Yong-Ho used the map that was drawn in the journal as the base and drew Kaiwan's journal.
  
He stopped midway and since it was a blueprint that would contain his future plan, there was no rule that said that the sections that were currently hidden would appear on the map. On top of that, the layout of the dungeon changed because of the two previous owners and since Yong-Ho reorganized the dungeon, it was safe to say that the dungeon was totally different.
  
But Yong-Ho still found a way.
  
No matter how much he reorganized the dungeon, there are parts that he couldn't change.
The dungeon's entrance, water source and gold mine were fixed locations.
  
Yong-Ho used the distance between the entrance and the gold mine as the base and drew the dungeon map so that it was the same scale as Kaiwan's map. And by overlapping the two, it filled the dungeon map's empty space.
  
The spirit training ground.
Library.
Magic research laboratory.
The official torture chamber and large prison that Eligor loved so much.
  
The arena that Yong-Ho wanted wasn't drawn on the map. But Yong-Ho remembered the information about how Kaiwan targeted more than 80% of the first floor.
  
There weren't a lot of empty spaces in Kaiwan's blueprint.
If the arena existed on the first floor, then that meant that the arena entrance was located somewhere in the empty area.
  
A general outline of the map and the directions.
He had a good idea of what he needed.
  
"Sorry."
  
When she died, no, disappeared, she was about the same age, so he spoke as if he was talking to a friend.
Yong-Ho lightly tapped the journal on the palm of his hand. Instead of reading more of Kaiwan's secrets, he stood up from his seat.
  
"Please call Eligor, Catalina and Rikum into the throne room."
  
"Yes, Master."
"And...at least wash your face before leaving. You have a handsome face."
  
Lucia spoke and Yong-Ho chuckled. He touched the prickly beard on his chin.

"So...what you're saying is that you're going to explore...your own dungeon?"
  
Rikum thought it was strange and his expression showed it.
It was understandable because it was like the house owner wanted to explore his own house.
  
Yong-Ho felt embarrassed, so he spoke after clearing his throat.
  
"Rikum, as you know, the House of Mammon's dungeon is old. The facilities that Kaiwan created are hidden in the darkness. What I'm saying is that I need to find those."
  
There were only four people that knew the truth about how the House of Mammon's dungeon was a labyrinth.
It was Yong-Ho, Catalina and Eligor.
And Sitri as well since she's the one that told him the truth.

There wasn't a need to tell Rikum about the secret. And he felt bad for thinking this, but he didn't trust Rikum as much as Catalina or Eligor.
  
"Oh, so that's what you meant. Understood. Then shall I call the others?"
  
Kaiwan was sort of like a free pass. Rikum nodded after understanding Yong-Ho's goal and then asked.
Yong-Ho shook his head.  

"No, it'll only be me, Catalina, Skull...and Salami and Spot. Rikum, take the others and help with the dungeon's defense."
  
Exploring a dungeon gave them the opportunity to fill the development rate. Catalina and Skull were the main guards of the dungeon, so he couldn't leave them behind.
Yong-Ho decided to take the Salamander, Salami, because he wanted to quickly evolve it, his personal greed was involved in the decision making. He decided to take Spot to use him as a messenger and scout.

"Understood, Master. As you wish."
  
Rikum showed respect towards Yong-Ho.
Yong-Ho looked back at Eligor.
  
"The Princess Ant...Yuria will be fine without Spot, right?"
"It'll be fine. She mostly spends her time in her room anyways. She has been learning small tasks from Jun, but...even though she's good with her hands, she does tend to space out a lot."

Yuria spent her time in the breeding farm, which was located near the gold mine.
Since she was still young, she wasn't able to create a colony of Crazy Ants, but after mining all the gold in the gold mine, Yong-Ho was planning on building a new colony.
  
'The problem is that I don't have a way of filling her evolution rate.'

This was an issue that he could resolve after the training ground was successfully built.
Yong-Ho talked to Eligor once more.
  
"After moving Bugrim to the workshop...give him something to do. We need to check to see if he has the will to work."
"I understand. I'll ask him to create shelves or chairs."
  
He hadn't confirmed it yet, but it seemed that ever since a professional had entered the dungeon, Eligor, the housekeeper of the dungeon, looked quite happy.
  
They had managed to complete the urgent tasks.
After recalling Ophelia and Endelyon, Yong-Ho wanted to take Eligor with him as well, but he managed to stop himself. For Eligor, there were far more important things than him evolving.
  
"Okay. Let's prepare for the exploration and meet back here in 10 minutes."

After Yong-Ho spoke, Catalina quickly answered and stood up. After Skull answered, he started rolling on the ground as if he had nothing to do.
  
Ten minutes later.
He let Spot, who was overfilled with excitement, lead the way and Yong-Ho walked out of the throne room with the rest of the spirits.
The official exploration to find Kaiwan's inheritance had begun.

When I was 15-years-old, during the year that I graduated from middle school, my father told me this.

“The Devil’s blood runs in our family.”

That was the truth. Sadly my father was the owner of a takeaway chicken shop with the talent of turning his eyes blue, and I was the son of the takeaway shop who just happened to be slightly stronger than others.

But five years later.

They came for me.

After the initial explanation from Harold, we set up an impromptu lecture hall and called those who knew nothing about magic to learn from those who did. Those with more filled out knowledge of magic and its working sat in a circle and talked about which system it likely followed and if it was proven to not follow any system how to set up a new one. 

So it was like a scientist sharing circle while a couple of people that had learned to use the magic of the Void chimed in every so often and then in turn where bombarded by questions. I just stood slightly away from the circle and started a journal over all the different systems of magic and how they could interact and complement each other as they spoke. Dalia came over every so often after helping others with learning magic and said she liked my journal and that I should keep going. 

I don't know why but Dalia's praise made me happy, maybe its that aura of wisdom around her. Like a teacher praising a student. Anywho once the scientist's social circle was ended in favor of hands-on investigation I walked up to them one at a time to ask for revisions on my journal. They pointed out a few mistakes and oversights for example instead of classing the elements in one according to strength to class them based on how broad the elements reach is.

Erm, I can geek out later, I decided while we still have a manageable amount of people and the influx is low to start a registration desk. So that we can have identification, population, and other statistics that would need the mass of population for. Address obviously will wait for later once we have housing, streets and figure out how large this town will end up being. It's doubtful our group of people will grow over the rough estimate of town population due to the diversity, most would likely want a town or even a country to themselves. 

Quickly detailing the desk, stacks of paper and writing utensils in my mind I opened my eyes after the tugging in my chest went away and saw the desk awaiting. Sitting down on a soft chair someone made for the lecture hall I set up some materials for census like clipboards, the form itself, and pens. Also, quills in case they can't write with a pen. Wait, what do I do for the illiterate? 

 I waved over Harold and wrote down my worries. He nodded and called over someone he knew couldn't read or write when she was alive. "Hello Dear. Could you attempt to read this paper for me? We need to test something." Harold spoke very calmly not to alarm her. She looked skeptical but tried. Surprisingly she was able to read it and quickly answered some of the multiple-choice answers and said some answers she needed weren't on there. 

She was still hesitant to try writing but she told us her name was Jillian with no last name. Harold quickly wrote out her name and she quickly learned to write and finished filling out the form after making up a last name for herself. After remembering I didn't have a way to keep the forms organized I made a small filing cabinet and a small tablet. The tablet couldn't do much other than keep the forms organized and give a search function, but it worked.  Harold soon left after grabbing Dalia to help me and went to give a lesson on how to write. 

Dalia handled the forms that were quickly being filled out and filed them away into the cabinet after I entered the information into the tablet. Soon a long line formed and I grabbed a couple of younger-looking people to help Dalia with the forms and to help me enter information into the tablet. I also had to make 4 more chairs, 10 more clipboards, 6 more pens/quills and make some ropes to organize the line slightly.

 We went through the people quickly and soon only had a couple of people left in the line. I had entered the information of almost 60~ ish people and was exhausted. I waved over Dalia and quickly told her I was going to find somewhere to sleep.

"Ok, John and Nora should be making a good amount of tents somewhere near the lecture area. I'll wake you up once we get things a bit more organized. Also, you should do something that will keep people you don't know out of your tent. We don't want some weirdo waltzing in and kidnapping you." Dalia rubbed my head and looked around to see if she could spot the tents from here. I tapped her shoulder and raised the scribbled note to her face. 'How old do you think I am?' Dalia looked at me and patted my head again "17?18? A bit over marriageable age correct?" I gave her a look and wrote on my paper and shoved it in her face. 'I. Am. 25.' 

Dalia took her hand off my head and looked very awkward. "Oh. I am so sorry. You just look really young...." She trailed off and looked away. I noticed her ears were slightly red and realized this really embarrassed her. 'It's ok. This is not the first time it's happened and will definitely not be the last.' I tapped her shoulder and let her read my note and she smiled. "That makes me feel kinda better. But I still feel bad. Tell me if someone bullies you for looking young. I'll beat them into the ground." I felt a smile tug at my lips and smiled before waving and going to find the tents.

John and Nora did well on the tents, Nora despite being an underground dwelling race had camped in tents a good amount being an ambassador for her country when she was alive. She had quickly made a good amount of tents and taught John about them as well. Over half were already claimed and some people had already made changes to the outside and added small yards, pink flamingos, garden gnomes, fake crocodiles that look scarily real, you name it. I found a medium-sized tent that holds two people with cots maybe four max. I set up a cot along the side of the gray tent and made a couple of blankets. 2 thick blankets and a couple of thinner ones to help with overheating. 

I put one of the thick blankets on the other cot on the other side of the tent in case I got a roommate, I also placed half of the thinner ones on the other cot as well. Creating a pair of pillows and setting one on the other cot I made my cot and slipped in and fell asleep rather quickly.

Why do all those systems and gods threaten people with the Void when they want them to do something? I mean with the darkness and everything is nice and quiet why would you hate that?

I mean you would get a bit bored but our protagonist Aline has that covered. With her willpower to survive mentally through a mental asylum, you got to be a little...how to say? Mentally unstable? No that's rude. Different. That's the word. 

Follow Aline in her ascent to godhood, or as her soon to be people say, The Creator of the Void Kingdom.

My fists were still balled, to keep my hands from shaking, as the heavy metal doors of the breakfast room closed behind me. I paused just outside the doorway, ignoring the guards who cautiously watched me out of the corner of their eyes.

Breath.

I repeated the word, chanting it as I breathed in through my nose and out through my mouth. I had not missed the way the Prince had studied me. Seen me, not the facade I clung to. The King had not noticed the clarity of my eyes or how I bristled at his every word.

Slowly I felt my body begin to relax. It had been almost a week since the King sent me on the last mission, a week since my memories had slowly begun to return. Each morning the King had me eat breakfast with him and his son. Each morning I kept my face blank and emotionless as the King searched for any weakness in his control over me. He saw none.

My plan was working. It was less of a plan than a simple idea. Regain control over my thoughts and actions without the King realizing what I was doing. That was the extent of my plan. I was not even sure who I was. As long as the King believed I was under his control, he would have no reason to put that awful fog back into my head.

Each time I closed my eyes, bits and pieces of a stranger's life floated through my dreams. Not dreams but memories. Memories of who I once was. Ever since I was a child, I had dreams of leathery black wings and beautiful amber eyes. Dreams of fairies and pixies and trolls. Now they were no longer these brief, seemingly meaningless dreams, but elaborate memories. Memories of people and places I had somehow forgotten. Some of it did not make sense. Since age 10, I had lived in the palace, yet I was having dreams of myself marrying the male with amber eyes as a full-grown adult. It was like I was starting to remember events and people from a past life. A life where I was not even a human.

The possibility that I was simply going mad had crossed my mind more than once. All I knew for certain was that I could trust no one. Not the Prince, though I saw how he looked at his father. Not the servants, even though the King regularly tortured and killed them for his own entertainment. I could easily make allies, but those allies could just as easily report me to the King for their own selfish desires. 

As I burst into my room I snatched a small journal from my desk. I had never had a need for a journal, or books, or apparently pens. The thought of living for so long without reading a book saddened me more than I could explain. The small wooden writing desk, that had sat untouched since I completed my schooling as a child, was empty. As I rummaged through the desk looking for something to write with, I did not hear the door to my room click open. The light tune the maid, an older woman with greying hair and beautiful bright green eyes, made me jump. I cursed as my knee slammed into the underside of an open drawer. 

The woman's eyes grew wide as she stared at me, catching me rifling through my desk like a madwoman.

"Lady Selene," she shook her head in confusion. Glancing between me and the desk. Unlike most servants, she did not lower her gaze but stared into my eyes. She took a cautious step forward as she studied my face. What did she see?

I straightened my body and slammed the drawer I was looking through closed. 

"Go get me a pen," I commanded her in the most uninterested and bored voice I could muster. Hesitantly, the old woman bowed her head and hurried from the room, leaving the laundry she had been carrying on the floor. My laundry. 

This human had probably cleaned my rooms and taken care of me for years, and I did not even know her name. How had I lived for so long without actually living at all? Magic was outlawed and banished, yet the King's hold on me screamed of magic in every way. However, he was human.

The elderly woman interrupted my thoughts as she quickly returned. I heard the door to my rooms open and close followed by her hurried footsteps. The woman held out her hands, presenting me with not one, but three different types of pens. I did not bother to thank her as I snatched the pens form her hands and waved her away in dismissal. 

I left her to her work, as I sat down at my desk. I stared at my old journal for a moment before opening it to the first page. I had not written in the small book since I was a child. My blood ran cold at the sight of the strange word sprawled on the first page. It was written over and over again in a language I never studied, yet I knew it as if it had been a part of me my entire life.

Azriel.

The name pulled at something inside of me. Calling to a part of me that had been asleep for so long. The name was written in varying sizes and directions. As if I had tried to fit it as many times as possible onto the page. The beautiful characters that made up the name curled into one another, like decorative design. To the untrained eye, it looked like nothing more than a doodled design. 

I slowly flipped through the small journal. I did not remember writing or drawing anything inside of it, but it was unmistakably written in my handwriting. I had drawn beautiful amber-colored eyes and large wings, like those of a bat. Some of the pages had dates, others just drawings. All the dates were from the first year I had spent in the palace. There was nothing from any of the later years.

I blinked away tears as I dated the top of the first empty page. My hand scratched out the stories and memories that had been floating in my mind for the last few days. I wrote every detail I could recall. I was halfway through when I realized I was not writing in the human language. 

I wanted to slam the journal closed. To burn it, to throw it away. Panic welled up in me. What if someone found it? If they did find it, it would require someone to translate it. If this was some made-up language it would be impossible. If it was the language of the fae, it would still be impossible. They could prove nothing. It would be seen as nothing more than a book filled with drawings and doodles. Taking a calming breath, I put my pen to paper and continued to write.

As I closed the journal, I rubbed my thumb over the soft leather binding. I stood from my desk, leaving the journal where it had sat undisturbed for years. I could leave it there, but something inside me wanted to hide it. 

Reluctantly I grabbed the journal and crossed the room to my large four-poster bed. Laying on my back, I scooted under the bed. Carefully tucking the journal into the space between the mattress and frame.

"Sometimes I can not remember my name. Not until the large man I call King tells me it. Even then, I am not sure if it is my name or someone else's name. In the city, with the crowded streets and houses stacked atop one another, it is hard to breathe. Hard to think. It is always so hard to think. I know I must remember something but I can not. I am not allowed to remember. The King will be angry if I remember. I don't want to make the King angry."

Selene is the King's personal assassin. And in a world where magic is outlawed, she is cursed. Unable to defy the King's orders and unable to remember anything about herself, how could she ever escape?

When Selene starts dreaming about a male with amber eyes, and her memories start returning piece by piece, will it be enough to reclaim her freedom?
