"Well… It's my country's language, I guess. Here, I'll quickly show you if you hand me something to write on." 

Phil grabbed an old parchment lying on the table and gave it to me. When I wrote the first letter of the alphabet that I know of, I saw it morph into a message that I've never seen before in my entire life. What the heck just happened? I could still read the same lettering of the words, and I understand it perfectly, but the font changed on parchment? Was it because I was using a whole different language, and it was translating it on paper to the correct way the world sees it? 

My head was hurting. Nevermind, I'll just write the alphabets down for him. Jotting it down, I quickly went over with him. It didn't take long for him to catch on, and he nodded in understanding.

With that over and done with, the magic display was still floating over the magic stone. Bringing up the pen, I dipped it into the ink. The moment the pen made contact with the stone, a small electric spark went off, causing me to reel back in surprise.

"What was that?"

"I'm not sure, but I can see that you are embedding your magic into the stone. I don't think you would even need the ink at all for this."

"Really? That's even better." With my resolution resolved, I drew a circle with a line in the middle. The screen changed to the embedded picture magnifying what I was doing. What word should I test out? 
Explode? Was that even a good idea?

Without thinking much of it, I drew a line and the connected alphabet word of Explode. After that, I placed a period at the end and drew a path back to the circle. The screen disappeared, and the magic stone glowed hot red. Out of surprise, I dropped it onto the floor, and a small scale explosion insured, causing me to be pushed back hard onto the wall. Even Phil was thrown back from the blast. 

I groaned. What the hell did I just do? My naivety caused a small scale bomb that left burns on my body. 

"What did you just do? That was equivalent to a beginner level fireball." Phil's eyes crinkled with a grave expression.

"I'm not quite sure." 

"Not sure? That's even worse. I'm glad that was only a level E magic stone. I would be afraid of what would happen if it was an S class magic stone, in which case that could have easily been 10x worse, and we could have died."

Alarmed, I was glad that I pulled a low level magic stone. How was I supposed even to know what level magic stones I even pulled out? I looked back into the wooden box; on the inside were specified numbers of magic stone left gently glowing in white. 

I felt stupid. It wouldn't make sense if the magic container didn't have some kind of indication. They were 3 S class magic stones, 50 A, 150 B, 240 C, 360 D, and 1023 E. To be on the safe side, all new experiments from now on would be made with the E class. I seriously did not want to die. Maybe I can even set up some kind of force field if I learn how too. That gave me an idea.

Reaching into the magic wooden box, I pulled out a level E stone that was blue. Once again, I sat down and repeated the same process, but this time wrote 'Barrier.' The stone glowed blue, and a small blue forcefield appeared around me.

"A forcefield?" Phil touched the blue barrier, and he could not get through. For the next minute, the force field continually outputted the full energy force of constant magic until the stone became dull. The blue barrier faded and disappeared. "That's quite extraordinary. I have never seen the magic stone do that before."

I was giddy with excitement. Now I was curious if I could write more words onto the stone itself. Picking out another E level stone that was red, this time, I wrote '5-second barrier interval.' With the words finished, the barrier turned blue. It did the same thing and turned on and off every five seconds until the energy was depleted. My eyes sparkled with excitement with the discovery in hand.
This told me one thing that I could write commands on the magic stones to do specific things; the problem was the regulation of output of the stone itself. Even numbers could be written without a problem, so did that mean symbols could be used as well?

I dived into this problem and added a percentage of constant output. The barrier strength was at 30%, and it lasted for another extra three minutes. I was ecstatic. This was a fascinating way to use the magic stone. Now with a goal in mind, I had a specific idea that I wanted to create, and it was a light source that I could turn on and off. 

Working with the magic stones, I noticed many different colors of stones, each with their properties and strength. It took me a bit of time to find out that the only stone that could emit light was the white-colored magic stone. For hours, I played around with words, letters, and symbols and found the right combination to keep the light going on for a couple of hours though the problem at hand was that depletion of energy.

Throughout the whole time, Phil was watching without saying a single word. He was so enamored by the strange use of the magic stones that he even gave a couple of valuable inputs.

"Berry." 

"Yes?" I temporarily stopped what I was doing.

"I would like to use my first favor."

I froze. Crap.

"Teach me how to read, write your language, and do what you are doing."

"Now?"

"Anytime, in exchange, I will teach you how to defend yourself."

Defend myself, that was a valuable life lesson in this world. Security was pretty lenient, which could cause some severe problems.

"Okay." I was glad this was not too drastic. Working by myself on this was a slow process. On the other hand, having help could be beneficial. "How about this. I'll do my job during the morning, practice for a while, and then come here to learn how to read and write while I do some experimenting."

"Deal."

I continued on a bit longer until I felt utterly drained. I did not expect such a sudden backlash from using my magic for so long. I wondered if the feeling of being drained would increase depending on the magic stone level. It was a theory I needed to try out until I understood a bit more about the principal of the coding system.

With that, our life became busy and exciting. For the next couple of months, the routine that we scheduled was done in the order that I had suggested. My life was a bliss tackling an interesting puzzle that challenged my mind, eating, and working out. Phil, on the other hand, memorized the alphabet, symbols, and numbers. He could even write small sentences. He learned extraordinarily quickly, soaking everything like a sponge.

I let him do the writing of the words on parchment. It was turning into a thick book. His notes were immaculate and neat. I was glad that I remembered the rules of grammar. He wrote that in an entirely different parchment. It turned into his first volume that has been translated into his people's language.
  
"Finally," I leaned backward onto my hand. I solved the mystery of the depletion of energy from the crystal itself. "The answer was right there."

    Phil curiously looked at me, waiting for my answer.

"Bringing magic back into the stone. The stone can not do two actions at 100%. Instead, it has to be divided into two from the 100%. By coding for the natural speed of revitalizing the magic to increase by a certain amount, the stone can do multiple actions at the same time. This solves the extension of the magic to be extended, though one still needs to be careful of depletion."

"So the problem is that going 100% is out of the question when it's divided into multiple tasks."

"Correct."

"Though the problem lies with the Common Magic Stone and Monster Magic Stone. I can't use the Monster Magic Stones for everyday use. It rejects and erases everything I have written. Only the Common Magic Stone works fine."

I held up the clear Common Magic stone in hand, already the written words on the stone itself look like the wiring of the motherboard in a computer. I placed it on the ground. Clapping it once, the light from the magic stone illuminated at 30%. Clapping it twice, it turned off, making the room turned dark.

"Kuhuhuuhuhuhu." I chuckled, pleased at myself. I reached over towards the premade watch lamp that I designed. It was a simple lamp with a hood covering over the copper wire where the magic stone would be placed. No more would I  ever have to use a candle to light up the night.

Reaching over towards the magic stone, I placed it on the monumental spot. Today was a breakthrough achievement.

The number of different lamps and light fixtures I could make and sell. The amount of gold I could accumulate to satisfy this obnoxious hunger. I sighed with bliss. My mind was buzzing with excitement.

"Let's start a business," I spoke. "Together."I grabbed his hand in excitement.

"You want me to become a merchant?"

"Why me?" Phil was a bit skeptical about the offer.

"Why not you? I look like a kid. Do you think anyone would want to do business with me looking like this? Plus, you know the economy of this world. I don't."

"Well, you are right on that level."

"Mhmm, though, I would like to go into an actual written contract with you."

"I'm okay with that."

I nodded, satisfied. Then it struck me; I was so greedy that I forgot I just made a bargain with the future demon lord. Gah! I just can't take back my words. If I'm not careful, he might kill me later in my life. I need to rethink this over. Wait for a contract. Yes, that was what I was going to do. Instead, I should write a couple of extra lines saying, don't kill me. The name gaming greedy dragon truly fits me now.

I’m rich! Gahahahaha! Wait.... Noooooooo. I’m eating it? Someone stop me, for once in my life I am considered a billionaire but now I have to resort to eating gold for dessert or my scales will become dull and weak. Sigh....The woes of being a dragon. Especially when I can’t just leisurely spend it on my own whims anymore. Sob. Sob. 

Wait a moment, what is this? My life is entwined with a demon lord? Why? I want to live a peaceful but fun life. Not resort to having only three choices where it will lead me all down to my own death. This is not fair!

It seemed that it had been yesterday when Qiang Shen performed the spell to return to the past despite the fact that only just one month had elapsed. He remembered all the magic information he had acquired during the course of his trip until discovering that thanks to his heart's desire, he was able to obtain spiritual magic when he made the contract with the last spiritist on earth and became the last magical cultivator in the world.

Despite having lost that characteristic, Qiang Shen did not complain because he was building a great force to prevent the fateful day. "Japanese?" Lu De asked. "That's right, this is a sealing spell that I learned from a friend who came from Japan a few years ago," Qiang Shen replied.

The friend referred to by Qiang Shen was an apprentice monk Onmyodo who he knew in his previous life. He was a 12 year old boy named Ryugamine Takashi and was considered a genius of the Omyodo but could not finish his training because his Master died when the Kyoto temples were destroyed. From him he learned most of the spiritual magic that he knew how to use, however he died two months after they met because he had spent almost all his energy to free thousands of people from curses and when he was in his weakest state, they were attacked by the who performed the curses: The fallen angel Sachiel

To eliminate Sachiel, Takashi managed to use a spell to trap and seal Sachiel inside his body and once sealed, he used his vital energy to release a last spell where he extinguished his soul and body also eliminating Sachiel's soul and saving the people to die that were there.

Everyone nodded at the words of Qiang Shen, because he was the one who had the most knowledge and was the one who had given them hope. The only one who frowned was Jiang Chen. Some people may feel jealous of all the knowledge that others can show, it is the competitive nature of the human being to be envious of others better than one but Jiang Chen was different, he did not know if it was because they had known each other for several years, or if it was because of the bond of brotherhood that he and Qiang Shen had, but he could see the slight changes in the expression that Qiang Shen showed whenever he mentioned a friend or acquaintance who taught him the knowledge that he had, were expressions of sadness, grief, pain and repentance. Apparently all those people were important friends who died without being able to protect them.

After he finished writing the spell, he made them come down to Lu Yue and lay her on the ground on the spell, grabbed the wrist from both hands and started to write the word 封印 (seal) on them until she surrounded the wrist.

After Qiang Shen finished writing, he separated from Lu Yue and began to explain to them "this seal will stop the curse for a period of 6 months, but little Yue will not be able to wake up during that time, but she will be able to receive energy from the seal to prevent the body from weakening however, once the seal is broken, the curse will be activated with all its might killing her life. " After hearing it, both parents of Lu QingShan and Lu yue got scared. "Let's just hope that little Shan advances in her spiritual magic so that he can eliminate the curse before that happens," Qiang Shen continued.

After Qiang Shen finished explaining the target of the seal, Qiang Shen began to give instructions to Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen began to feel how his mana was draining slowly from his body and felt that he would not be able to activate the spell. At the moment in which the last trace of mana left the body of Jiang Chen, he felt like a great force he threw it and ended up hitting the wall with force.

From there it was as if Lu QingShan's parents were dreaming. After they saw Jiang Chen fly to collide with the wall in a fraction of a second, they saw how the characters of the spell began to glow faintly from where Jiang Chen was to fully extend throughout the circle. After the whole circle began to shine, the characters of the spell began to rise and move as if they were dancing. After a few minutes, the characters returned to the ground as if nothing had happened and until after everything had settled down, the "seal" characters in Lu Yue's wrist began to shine and the floor characters returned to move but on this occasion they began to move in the direction of Lu Yue, as if they were small insects climbing all over his body and ended up being absorbed by those little characters in the wrist. 

The strangest thing of all was that while the characters traversed the body of Lu Yue, they saw that what started to appear was black smoke from his body and after the last character was absorbed by the characters in Lu Yue's wrist, everyone saw how Lu Yue's skin color returned to normal but she could not wake up.

"Ok, the sealing spell has been completed successfully, now it only needs that little Shan advance quickly in his training of spiritual magic" Qiang Shen said.

In a destroyed world where humanity is on the verge of extinction, a survivor uses a spell combining the magic of different civilizations to return to its past and prevent the end of the world ... or at least, give humanity the weapons to be able to survive.

"Mana as a computer program..." Xylos pondered for a moment as he drew upon his memories from another world. Xylos was a computer programmer. He was really interested in it since he found out how to program his graphic calculator in high school; he was able to create a small app that performed quadratic calculation so all he had to do was enter the variables "a", "b", and "c" to solve for the values of "x." It saved him time on both homework and tests; at that moment he was fascinated with all the possibilities that programming offered.

The first thing he looked up was the assembly language. It was a series of commands that performed simple "add", "subtract", "label", and "goto" actions. Once the commands were complete, it would compile into machine code and then the user can run it on any compatible CPU.

Xylos look around his table for a book on Rune magic. He felt that it was similar since programming was a symbolic way to represent a series of actions; it was simply telling the system to do something with a series of abstract phrases and commands. The system, however, in this situation, was an interaction between a person's "true self." and mana.

Xylos then took a piece of paper and traced the simplest rune on the page. It was a simple rune that creates a ball of light. He drew two runes and when he encircled both runes, he felt something flow through him near his chest and then...an intense pain shot through his entire body. The runes spluttered and fizzed be for going out leaving Xylos gasping for breath amidst the pain.

He grimaced in contemplation and focused inward on the throbbing pain in his chest; a distorted haze of white light and something like a small streak of lightning appeared in his mind eye.

- What did I do? What did it do? -

The memory of everything that happened seems to be clear in his mind the moment it happened. First, some mana was drawn from the surroundings, then it flowed toward that white light inside his body, which he knew that his "true self." The moment that the mana flowed through the haze it tried to expel it based on what the runes were supposed to...assumed to do based on what he read. However, because he didn't have a "true self" that knew how to handle the spell, it tried to construct a one on the spot and failed miserably causing a backlash. It was lucky that he tried a set of Runes that didn't require a lot of mana otherwise he knew that his "true self" would implode.

When he arrived at that conclusion, he was filled with cold sweat. He almost turned himself into a rumored monster that appeared when people lose control of the mana.

- I was too impatient, it was obvious that I need to have some semblance of a "true self" or "core" before trying to use mana -

He proceeded to look at all the books on the magic system again this time focusing on how to create a core. As he expected, there were 22 different ways to do so. Some required meditating under the waterfall, some required performing a dance around a totem, some required performing a series of moves while visualizing something, or drinking the blood of another practitioner.

They varied but they all had something in common; a strong belief and visualization of the ideal self relative to what system he/she is using and a sense of uniqueness that makes it stand out from the norm. It could be as simple as visualizing a haze of different colors regarding the element a person would like to master, or maybe an object, creature, or imaginary entity that the person feels a connection to. 

Xylos looked around him, the library was a very old fashioned place; other than bookshelves tables and chairs there was nothing else. Something like a computer probably doesn't exist in this place. A computer would definitely be something unique.

Then it hit him. He realized with surprise that we can understand the books he was reading even though the words used in those books look nothing like what he has seen before. Then, he remembered the data core that the person gave him before disappearing.

- Would my language be something unique in this world? -

He then took another piece of paper then wrote the words "light" on it and drew a circle around it like what was mentioned in the Rune Magic book. He needed something to present a spell is complete, drawing a closed circle around it seems to be the best way to go about it.

He felt some mana flow toward his chest again. Instead of pain, he felt some warmth before something like a shadow of a rectangular square appeared in the haze. The next moment, white light shined from the paper illuminating the dark corner of the library.

Xylos look with awe at the light that shined from the piece of paper. He was surprised that a simple English word was able to generate a beam of light from the paper. Curiously, he wrote the letter "光" on the paper and circled it. He felt something flow through him again and the paper lit up again, but this time it only occupied the amount of space that the character took.

Intrigued, he grabbed another piece of paper and wrote the words "light x 2." The moment he completed the "Rune" two rays of light shot out from the paper and a stronger rush of mana seem to have permeated his body.

After a few more tries with different combinations, he identified several things. First, in order to complete the spell, the words/runes need to be enclosed in a circle; it was basically the step telling his "core" to compile the spell and project it in the real world. However, the object enclosed in it is limited to what he can visualize. Light, fire, water, earth, and ice appeared as one would expect but things like Life, Death, Gravity, Soul, and Spirit were too vague to identify, let alone visualize.

Second, he was limited to 3 words or x3 modifier. He determined the limitation when he activated "Light x 3" At that point, his chest felt like bursting and his hazy core seem to be lit with small streaks of lightning. He felt a warm feeling in his chest after, as if his true self has some exercise.

Third, any of the three languages that he knew can be used to write the "runes" and activate the corresponding effect. This can be used to write faster or write on smaller surfaces while maintaining the same effects.

- Alright, now that I have something like a magic system. I can find a way to live longer than one month in this body. I wonder what is causing Arths to have such a limited life span? -

Xylos stood up from the table and collapse soon after. The only thought that went through his mind before he blacked out was - Oh, I see why... -

Xylos was copied from another universe into another with all his memories intact into the body of an "Artificial Human" at an experimental facility. It was a world of magic with a familiar system, but alas, as a failed product with an incomplete core, he only has a month to live. How will he survive?

Elsewhere, Fu Fusheng was still waiting in the detention center. He didn't get any good news, but received word that Wu Yuanji had been caught alive. Readying my sniper rifle, I climb from the nearest tree and discerns where that very howl is coming from.

Afterall, this is the first time in my life, saw a dragon in a flesh. Not virtually but physically witnessed. Though, from all I know, dragons is like a lizard but this one is like that of a snake—just like Goddess Alexadra mentioned. And from my first mentioned earlier, its like Shenron himself who descends.

With that, I put my [Anti-Magic Slaying Bullet] inside the rifle.

Because this ammo is very hard to cultivate, I only have 3 thus far and because of its otherworldly effect, it could destroy anyone it touch. Is what according to my appraisal after making it.

I don't know how or why the hell did I create such thing, though as far as I know, all I did is to mix, reshape and cultivate the bullet during creation process—though I still have a production method here. On the side note, I created this with <Antares Poison>. The god-eater monster.

With such thought, I can't help but to squint in surprise, I see, thats how is it. That is sole requirements of this dangerous bullet. Afterall, I only creating bullets half-heartedly  ecause I could create bullets using magic and [Refined Magic Stone] as a catalyst. .  

Setting that thought aside, I focus my mind towards the dragon again. So for now, I am sure of one thing. This bullet is here to destroy that Dragon.

Because of this thing why I boasfully said that word to Loki Familia' captain.

This looks cheating, but if it succeeded then, the thorn from above the surface, the one who terrorize the whole world would perish here forever.

Still, I want to raid that Dragon without resorting in this cheat-like ammo. Afterall, I'm kind of a battle junkie that wants a challenge. He he. . .

It was you who thinks like a child, thinking this flame burning inside my heart would vanish out of thin air just because its dead! This is a novel encompassed with mystery, ethics, family ties, and romance. Of course, the highlights of this book are the murder cases. 
Although it’s a modern setup where none of the characters have a system or any other cheats, the Author managed to delight me with her writing, creative plots and a good pace without dragging her story. 
I marvel at the way the Author links up the clues and plot to explain the individual cases as well as paving the way to unravel the huge conspiracy behind the individual murders. Romantic plots are light-hearted so readers could take a breather from the plots of gruesome murders.

Able didn't respond, or *couldn't* respond would be more correct. She sighed again and said "We'll continue this conversation tomorrow" and left.

Able was still shaken by the confrontation today. It didn't help that the Court Wizard would be looking for him to interrogate him further. 'Should I just escape?' Able thought for a second, then ruled that idea out because the Court Wizard is probably making sure he isn't going anywhere. 

Able was currently in his room, and he could feel a number of magic booby traps set up everywhere. He then looked over to his solar calendar. 'I turn 13 today' Able thought. For most children this would be something huge, as it would mean they could enlist in the army in order to be trained. For Able though, this meant something completely different. You see, in this country there are certain restrictions put on children. One of them is that using magic spells under the age of 13 is strictly forbidden, but after the age of 13 you were allowed to use magic under the supervision of an adult wizard.

Able left his room and headed for the library, the Court Wizard probably expect him to go to the dining hall to get breakfast served. Able instead went directly to the library, that way he would have time to read a little before the Court Wizard dragged him away to her interrogation dungeon. Able was just outside the library when he felt something *strange* in the air. He tried to dismiss it as nothing special, but the feeling grew stronger the closer he came to the library. And just as he entered the library, there she was, standing there with a spell already on hand. Able didn't even have time to think before she pulled him in with a grappling spell and tightened him to a chair.

"Now then, I have made sure no one will come here today, boy. Now you will answer my question whether you want to or not!" The Court Wizard said almost demonically. In Able's eyes, the Court Wizard looked like a sadistic succubus, needless to say he was afraid. "So, did you or did you not fix the magic circle?!" The Court Wizard shouted at Able. Able was way too scared to form a sentence and just stuttered. "Still, not answering huh? I guess I'll have to use less *orthodox* methods" she said and looked at her staff. As she was about to cast a spell Able screamed the words, "I-I-I did it, OK?! So, please just don't put me in the dungeon, I beg you!"

"Huh? Why would I do that?" The Court Wizard asked. "Eh? So, you weren't interrogating me about using magic without the supervision of an adult?" Able looked suspiciously at her. Able had freaked about this, because his entire life he had lived by the rules. He also had no idea how other people interacted with each other and is unable to understand where people's priorities are. Able had just saved the lives of hundreds of people by fixing the magic circle, yet he is unable to understand that no one will care that he broke the age limit set on using magic. Everyone in court already knew Able had been using magic, even the king did. It's just that no one really cared, the age limit was mostly set in order to keep children from hurting themselves. Thus, because no one cares about Able he was allowed to practice magic in secret.

"… You do realize that no one would care about that, right?" the Court Wizard had met nutjobs before but this was her first time dealing with someone who has been this socially isolated. Able looked up to her from his chair. "Oh yeah, I should probably untie you" the Court Wizard didn't feel the need to tie him up anymore. Able then asked the Court Wizard, "But I broke the rules, didn't I?" to which the Court Wizard responded, "Yes you did, but you broke them for the good of other people didn't you?" Able nodded. "Then what harm has it done? You don't deserve punishment for doing something so heroic!" the Court Wizard proclaimed.

The words 'heroic' resounded within Able's head. It was a word he knew well from the many tales written about great generals and soldiers. However, he hadn't quite grasped what it meant. All he knew is that it involved helping others at the cost of their own life. Using that definition how was he heroic? Able didn't know, neither did he question it. Because being told that made him feel warmth and a sense of belonging. Able smiled to the Court Wizard, who smiled back. These feelings were something Able had been longing for a long time. The Court Wizard decided to sit down next to Able and said, "Now, why don't you show me how you fixed that magic circle?"

King Edward 'the Lionheart' was sitting in a camp listening to the reports from the scouts about the surrounding areas. Most of the surrounding area was mountainous terrain. More scouts poured in, none of them had reports of an enemy army. Then again, the King had sent out 40 scouts and only 34 so far had returned. The King saw his options and decided it was best if they packed up and left at the first sight of dawn tomorrow.

King Edward was a brilliant strategist, as the kingdom of Noibla bordered the Parvuseans to the north, dragons in the north-east and the numerous kingdoms to the south. Noibla itself was positioned on the west coast of Mittel and is the northernmost human kingdom. Noibla was no doubt the dominant power on this side of Mittel, this was achieved by the extreme martial society. The Noiblaen men used to be required to keep equipment on them at all times and was actively encouraged to train in the fields. Boys would be thought how to fight from an early age and girls used to be the influential land owners. This has largely shifted to favor men but women still hold significant influence as they will be in charge of farms and estates while their husbands are fighting. They can also inherit said land if their husbands died without them having a son old enough to take over. The rules aren't this extreme anymore, but it's a large part of Noiblaen culture to always carry arms and to be trained in combat.

This means that King Edward is boasting a 25K strong army that mostly consists of strong and well-trained men. However, King Edward knew better than anyone what he was up against, the people subjugated by the Dragon 'Daylbog' are fierce and loyal warriors. Daylbog arrived at this continent centuries ago as a young dragon, conquering everything he saw. He only stopped once he started having internal problems with the people from the lands that he conquered. Now that he had beaten the loyalty into the humans and Parvuseans living there, he was ready for an invasion of Noibla while it was weak. This had failed and the invading army was easily beaten back by the angry commoners of Noibla. This have made them learn to fear the Noiblaen people. Which might be why the defending army of Daylbog is too afraid to face King Edwards army head on and is most likely planning an ambush.

It was just a hunch that the King had, but if it was true, he could exploit it to trick the ambushing army to fight them in favorable mountainous terrain. King Edward was currently fighting an uphill battle against Daylbog's forces as he had just managed to get the army under control. Even so, he was confident that the spirit of Noibla would grant him victory.

The King's army packed up and left at dawn after getting some rest. Their plan was to deliberately march down the forest with a decoy army who would run towards the mountain side where the King's main army would be waiting to give them hell. The plan worked completely in the King's favor, just as expected, the enemy army was lying in wait and immediately charged the decoy when they marched past. Although somethings went different, in the end, King Edward had managed to capture the entire enemy army. Of course, this wasn't Daylbog's entire force and they still had ways to go before they could force the surrender of Daylbog, but for now they celebrate this major victory.

Court intrigue was no simple matter, you needed to be cunning, charismatic and willing to some unorthodox things to get what you want. Yet, spies were everywhere. There is always someone listening, not matter how private or intimate the meeting is. Emelia was heavily entrenched into the world of intrigue. Always prepared, always had a plan. Knew everything and everyone. Even with Emelia's skills there would always be someone listening. Intrigue rarely involved any magic shenanigans, mostly because magic is detectable. However, Emelia was a magician and she frequently used it in her operations.

The fact that she used magic was one of the reasons she had become effective. Her magic compromised of small, almost undetectable spells. They didn't do much, but it increased her effectiveness. Though, if they were so good why weren't every spy using them? Because these spells were tailor made by a talented mage back in Noibla and so really only fit her. Although, she had seen Able use some of the same spells to avoid being seen by other people.

The type of intrigue she was conducting now was mostly just preparation. Setting up spy networks, bribing officials and so on. Emelia's strength lied mostly in this part, as the execution of plans was mostly based on luck, all you could really do was prepare and gather information until the time came. The most essential things for a plot are people. Preferably the people in high positions or relatives and close friends of the target. However, for Emelia the plot was only a secondary objective. Her main goal was to gain power in the form of information and dirt on the other kingdoms and monarchs. This way she could control one or several kingdoms like they were puppets on her strings. All she needed to make sure of was that no one would cut those strings in the future.

Able is a child born to the scandalous 3rd born son of the King of Noibla, Prince Luther. Being physically weak, Able gets bullied by the other children. And with everyone seemingly abandoning him, he finds solace in the books of the library. After an unnamed wizard offers to mentor Able, he seems to have all the tools he needs for an exciting adventure!
