And finally, the third requisite is mana itself. This mysterious energy is what fuels changes in reality. The clearer the mana, the more efficient it is as a fuel. Take Hector cold mana for example, according to the book and Friday's observations; his mana is attuned to water, which means he will have an easier time using it to cast water spells than if he tried to use it for casting fire and dark ones.


The book then goes a long way into showing how to cast your first spells. As all ten books were made with kids as the target audience, they still lacked much information. But it was more than enough for Friday to begin researching it.

Okay so the Illustration is complete I updated the book cover on royalroad.com scribblehub.com and webnovel.com, I've also updated the synopsis to what is going to be on A m a z o n.
The illustrator delivered the illustration to me around 3 or 4 hours ago., so it was completed fairly recently.
It took me mmmm 7 or 8 tries maybe 9 before I was finally able to get kdp amazon to accept the illustration. I tried 6 or 7 times of those to get it to accept the pdf. In the end, it did not accept the pdf book cover, but I was able to make a workaround and submit the image through the cover creator by uploading the image and delete all text projected over the illustration by the cover creator and wallah only took a 2nd try to get it done after that.
This was for the paperback version mind you, no problems with the ebook on that front. Keep in mind I was just about to go too sleep when the illustrator contacted me and I only recently reverse my schedule back to somewhat normal. It was then that this whole fiasco started.
Now then, the ebook has passed review and is currently publishing which means their setting it up on their sites and apps for amazon, kindle and their various national variations.
The paperback is in review. Both the ebook and paperback should be released around or within 72 hours from what I've been told. I will also get an email when the ebook is published and maybe when the paperback is published not sure.
Next, I noticed when I was reposting the amazon version of the synopsis that the paperback's synopsis was lacking any spaces between sentences which is indeed an issue.
Now I would go ahead and edit the ebook and paperback just so they're more professional, but I tried that, it won't let me edit it right now and the button to do so are greyed out.
That said I do want to edit the synopsis of the two books so they're not a mess but I will have to wait, if they even allow editing of them after they've been published anymore. I know they used too.
I may or may not release another update when they've been published and or edited but for now you seem to have all the information and anymore may just be overbearing.
Also the paperback minimum price was 42 something odd dollars with no royalties, so I raised the price of the paperback to 50 dollars USD so that I can even make a profit off royalties, even with that each purchase of the paperback only gives me 4.25 dollars. The cost of printing is 25 something odd dollars per book, I guess amazon gets the rest and or put it into shipping costs???? Crazy right?

Dear Readers,
Greetings to my beloved readers, I just want to thank you for giving this book a chance to be heard. It has been a few months since Covid19 wreaked havoc around the world, tucking us into our homes for safety and security. I am delighted to be able to write and present such odd Ancient-Chinese themed novel to all of you. I know somehow most people around my age and younger are bored at home, so might as well motivate everyone to read and enhance their reading comprehension/ critical thinking skills. As an amateur Filipino teen writer I am not expecting so much from this book, but I can't help it, I want to be able to share a story to the mass and escape the world of reality for a while. Your reviews, comments and support are very much appreciated so don't forget to leave a note. I as a college student also want to improve my writing skills, so I'll thank everyone in advance. And I just want to remind everyone to avoid plagiarism, let's respect people's property and just enjoy reading, get lost in the world of imagination and have fun.

Getting everyone down the ladder proved to be a hassle.  I looked up at the opening as I pulled a cord and the mouth closed.  The flashlights were suddenly the only light in the oppressive darkness.  We started off.  Flashlights bobbing.  Ashley asked after a while, "Taegan, why did you set up such an elaborate set of escape paths?  Come ON, Taegan.  What were you thinking?"

"On the surface, I have been the good little boy.  Underneath I have been filled with this feeling that our parents would abandon me for no known reason.  I have no idea why I thought that way...  Our mother set up an account for each of us on a vacation to the Seychelles.  I have been using it to hide my gambling winnings...  I got into some high stakes poker games and threw in the credit card with the $1M limit in...  I have won almost every time.  The losses, Dad paid for.  The winnings went to the Seychelles in prepaid credit cards.  I can access the money via a debit card...  Then I started buying land and, well, the trailer parks...  Mom always made the joke that she had grown up thinking trailer parks were posh...  I've been picking off commercial land on this side of the freeway for a while...  Companies would go under and I would buy for almost nothing...  I got caught up in the idea that something horrible would happen and... things got out of control...  The sane part of the goal was to own  enough land that when I sold, I could be self-sufficient...  That guy, Lyonell Hurst, may have a good plan.  We need to go over it at some point.  If it is a good plan, then I will adopt it and he will be SOL.  In all likelihood, he will prove to be a con artist...  One way or another that SOB is going to pay.  On purpose or accidentally he told the A-Team that we were living there...  Or rather, I own trailer parks under the Sergai Brzezinski name and Avery Shrike sent that guy to find me in one of them.  When the A-Team realized that the trailer had an underground escape route, they must have decided to wait until I got home then try to spook us into taking the escape route... right into their hands...  Thus they would not have to invade the thing and chance having to deal with the police.  How long they are going to sit there waiting for us to come out of the basement, I do not know...  The longer the better."

An hour later we emerged from a manhole that looked down on a hotel.  An idea hit me...  I put some money in my wallet and we marched into the hotel.  I walked up the concierge desk and said, "Look, our car broke down.  We have reservations at a hotel downtown.  Could you call us a cab?"

The guy looked up at the clock and down at a clipboard, then he said, "I can take you in the courtesy van, if you want."

"Thank you.  I appreciate your help."  We loaded up and we were off.  I gave him the address of the hotel across the street from Dugan's Long Term Vehicle Storage.  I asked conversationally, "Are you working your way up in the hotel trade or going to college for something else?"

"I'm getting an MBA. I want to work in the transportation industry.  I graduate at the end of summer from the University of Houston," he said concentrating on the road.  "No bites for jobs so far.  I may have to accept something else."

I opened the briefcase, peeled off $1000 and a $20.  I paperclipped the $1000 to the card, prospectus and business plan from Lyonell Hurst.  At the next stop light, I put the papers on the dashboard and said, "I'm Taegan Shrike.  My father died over the weekend.  I will be taking over Saginaw Industries at some point.  I am now going to give you an opportunity.  I need that prospectus and business plan analyzed.  I want a full presentation on its feasibility.  If you find it wanting, then come up with your own version of it.  Do not contact the man on the business card, but I do need you to explore his background."  I waved the $20.  "You can take this as a tip for moving me and my family from here to there.  If you take up the task I have outlined, then I will want a full presentation after you graduate.  I have attached $1000 to cover your expenses.  You can take tip or project or both... or neither."  Someone honked from behind.  The light had turned green.

The man, it said Bernie on his tag, drove for a while. "Why me?"

"The prospectus and/or the business plan may have a tracker on them.  I need someone to lead the people who put the tracker there on a merry chase...  If you are clever you can lead them on a merry chase and do the project and get the job at Saginaw Industries.  What do you say?"

Again a long silence, then he said, "I could just take the money and dump the paper."

"That is one approach."

After a short silence he said, "I will take the $20 and the $1000 and do the project.  I am not sure how well the merry chase will go."  I put the $20 under the paperclip.  At the next stop light, he attached the paper to his clipboard and handed me his card.  I put it in the mad money pouch.

At the small hotel downtown, Bernie unloaded all the bags and left us there on the sidewalk.  I sent Marsha across to Dugan's.  She returned with the van.  We loaded up and started driving.  We stopped at a McDonalds with WiFi and had lunch.  I logged into my mother's business computer and started searching for a file I knew was there.  Mom had established this account in case someone was watching her other account...  Maybe I got my paranoia from her...  After a lot of messing around, I found the list of residences that had been sold but not occupied, rented but not occupied and residences bought but not on the market as yet.

I chose a rental house that had a movein date two weeks away.  We drove there and unloaded.  My mother always kept a key in a red rock in the backyard.  The security codes were in the file I had lifted.  The inside was unbelievable.  To say that the place was opulent was to say that desert is a mite hot.  White marble floors... three story high windows... two grand stair cases...  A 100 meter swimming pool in the back... a kitchen that was bigger than the trailer we had just come from.

Each of us went to a separate bathroom.  Then we met in the master bedroom and dried each other off... and rutted like weasels.  I had heard that a close call with death can cause you to want sex, but this was ridiculous.  When we were all spent, I had everyone put on a house coat and adjourn to the kitchen.  Brittany made us a dinner to die for from the food in the freezer and food closet.  I made a note of all the food we took with the intent of replacing it at some point.

After dinner we watched TV until late, then... made love some more before going to sleep.  The next day after breakfast I drove the van across US 610 and called Jake Rearden.  He seemed stunned that I would call him.  "Anything happen at the trailer park yesterday afternoon?"  I asked conversationally.

"Oh, nothing much except about 50 very deadly men tore your house apart looking for you.  Taegan, these were top of the line bully boys from Colombia.  When they left, they were very unhappy.  One of them tried to mess with one of mine.  I called their leader out and we communicated.  I told him that I had met you once and did not know where you were.  He believed me...  Taegan, they want to kill you.  They do not want to ask you any questions.  The head honcho seemed to think that you had insulted him somehow...  I could not understand why," he said much amused.

"Sir, I have no idea.  I will have to call them and see what the problem is.  I gave them all the information they needed.  I have no idea what they could want," I said truly baffled.

"Taegan, you are playing a very deadly game.  I do not see how you can come out of this alive."

"There's a way, I have not found it yet.  My opponents are not the drug lords.  There is someone else out there pulling the strings.  Once that person is off the board, then the drug people will calm down and see reason.  Right now, I am going to go doggo and spend some quality time in front of a TV...  If I survive, I will indeed get back to you about that motorcycle shop."

He started laughing.  When he could talk, he said, "Kid, if you can survive this, I think I might just decide that retiring is a good idea.  I've always feared that a shop would be too boring.  With you as a partner, no telling what might happen."  He hung up laughing.

I dialed the phone passthrough, then dialed Wesley's number.  It rang for a while, then the genteel voice said, "My... are we back to phonebooths?"

"Well, they're not booths, but yeah, I guess so...  I hear you ran by my hideout and missed me by a bit."

"Chico, what IS your problem?  Why would ANYONE have one secret exit, much less two?  What did you think was going be chasing you?  Did you maybe have a bad trip on acid in the past and..."

"Look, sir, I think my mental state is not the question.  Yours is.  I gave you the whole Goddamned enchilada and now you are back for more...  What the hell is your problem?"  I asked, very unsettled.

"Chico, someone stole the ton of cocaine that came in on June 9th."

I paused, then said, "Oh!...  That would make me testy too...  Not that I had anything to do with it mind you."

"Yes, yes, your wretched relatives!...  Always your wretched relatives!...  Chico, can't you for once accept responsibility for what you have done?"

"Sir, with due respect, you are talking to the wrong guy.  I have always been true to my word and I definitely take responsibilities for my failings,...  AND in this case, I had nothing to do with that...  Sir, I have the wrong skill set for robbing a set of badasses like your people...  I was trained to defend and attack until help arrives...  What you are looking for is a black ops veteran... such as Avery Shrike.  You need..."

"Avery Shrike died in the jungles of Venezuela three years ago!  I have triple confirmation on that," he said vehemently.

"Dude, Avery Shrike is a master at getting one or more factions to fight each other so that in the battle he can sneak in and assassinate people, if they do not get themselves killed in the flames of battle...  I am convinced that he dug out the Peruvian sugar deal, then shopped it to Yugo Shrike, who shopped it to one of your jeffe's lieutenants who then implemented it."

Silence fell.  After a while, he said contemplatively, "I have spoken to this Yugo Shrike...  He did as you say...  He got Emilio Guzman, a Chilean, to present the plan to our jeffe...  Emilio was as you said, one of the men who broke open your door and tried to kill you in your bed... against my specific orders not to.  Yugo Shrike swears that he had nothing to do with the hijacking of the truck carrying the ton of cocaine from Waco to our processing plant in...  You have no need to know...  This Yugo said that the plan dropped on his desk from someone purporting to have a low Throne number, whatever that is.  His plan was that the 20 tons of cocaine would arrive in Waco and be captured by the DEA.  Your father and mother would be discredited and the Throne would move...  That is what he said...  That changes nothing.  The ton of cocaine disappeared in transit."

"Again, sir, you are looking at this incorrectly.  I do not have the correct training to mount an attack on a convoy like that...  Avery does...  Wait...  How many of the 31 people on that list did you grab?"

"We got 21 of them...  I was unhappy with their answers, so I killed each and every one of them."

"Excuse me, sir, has your wife ever suggested anger management?"  I asked fearing his answer.

With a bit of wonder in his voice, he said, "As a matter of fact, she did...  I was so angry with her,...  I killed her."

I said, "Would you mind telling me whether you killed Roland Shrike and his children?"

"I killed all six of those men...  I would have killed their children if they had had any."

"I see...  Sir, I'm going to crawl into a hole and hide for a week or so.  By that time I will have detected who Avery Shrike is and where he is.  Please be patient."  I hung up, pulled out the memory and tossed the phone in a trash basket.  I started up the car and went about three miles south.  I called Megan Hunt using one of the cellphones.

"Taegan, oh my God, Taegan, what the hell is going on?  Someone kidnapped 25 guests from your parents' funeral.  What is going on?"  Megan asked breathlessly.

"Megan, compare the list of 31 names I sent you with the names of the missing.  I sent the same list to the Laurentia Cartel.  The A-Team  they hired to get me has gone nuts...  Let's review.  My second cousin Avery Shrike wanted to be Throne.  That means he wanted to own 59%  of the shares of stock in Saginaw Industries.  He dreamed up a plan to use my mother's business of importing sugar from Peru to import 20 tons of  cocaine...  In the early morning of June 3rd, a trial run was made where a container with one ton of cocaine and 19 tons of Colombian sugar was  swapped for 20 tons of Peruvian sugar in Valle Verde con el Río Rojo, Colombia.  On Thursday, June 9, the one ton of cocaine arrived in Waco amid  much joyous celebration.  The go-ahead was supposed to have been given to the team in Valle Verde con el Río Rojo, to assemble the cocaine and get ready  to swap out the 20 tons of Peruvian sugar for the 20 tons of cocaine.  The swap was supposed be done on the morning of Friday, June 10.   The cocaine was
supposed to arrive in Waco on June 16.  In the early morning of June 23, someone ambushed the truck holding the ton of Colombian cocaine and stole it.  Presumably Avery Shrike did this to force the cartel to kill me and most of his relatives so he could become head of Saginaw Industries.  I..."

"Stop right there, Taegan.  That's crazy.  All of it.  That's too weird.  No one would hatch a plot like that...  You've convinced the druggies that your delusions are real.  You aren't going to do that to me."  She hung up.

I listened to the dial tone for a while.  One by one I was burning my bridges.  This series of events had gone on much too long.  I needed help getting Avery off the Goddamned board.  The SOB was like the Energizer Bunny... he kept going and going and going.  I tossed the cellphone in the trash and went in search of a WiFi connection.

I was cruising through a strip mall.  A book store advertised that they had WiFi... and coffee.  I went inside and sat at one of their tables with my laptop in front of me.  I needed to do something to make this go away.  I logged into my server back in my house and downloaded my email...  I had forgotten that I had asked my friends to make pictures of everyone they could and find out who was attending my parents' funeral... and send the pictures to me.  Somehow or another a flashmob had formed and everyone involved had made an effort to get pictures of who was there and identify who the participants were.  That meant that I had a LOT of pictures to download.  I sat there zoned out as that happened.

Then it hit me...  Avery Shrike was somewhere in this mountain of information.  He had to be.  The SOB was not going to miss a chance to show how clever he was.  A normal person who was hiding would shy away from being exposed.  Avery wouldn't...  How was he going to hide in plain site?

When I got all the email download, I logged off and sat back.  I realized that the book store had a printer for customers to use... for a price.  I got the attendant's help in attaching his printer as a network printer and then went after it.  One by one, I opened the emails and stored the pictures in a separate folder.  The task took forever...  Then I had to create PDF's from each of set of photos with a cover page being the email.  As each PDF was finished, I printed it out.  After a while a guy came over and said, "Sir, you're racking up quite a bill with the printouts."

I absently dropped a $100 bill on the table then put it away.  The guy went back to the printer.

I missed lunch.  About 4pm, the last PDF printed out.  I had consumed a full box of paper.  Making sense of all this was going to be a bitch.  I paid for my printouts with a prepaid card and went back to the rental.

The girls were swimming in the pool... naked.  I took out the cheek implants and took off my clothes and joined them.  We made love in the pool.  We made love on the couches.  We had dinner and made love again.  Somewhere in there we went to sleep.

Suppose that you are a male.

What would you do to get a job that paid one billion USD per year? 

That is the wrong question...

What would you NOT do to attain such a job?

What vile, despicable, underhanded deeds would you do to get your hands on that amount of money and position?

But wait there is more...

What if you must take the job or you and everyone you love will be killed? Would that affect your decision?

Now suppose that you are a female.

Would you marry a guy that was paid one billion USD per year?

You can marry the guy or you will be kidnapped, tortured and then killed. Plus, your flesh would be eaten by the torturer, if you did not marry the guy. Would that affect your willingness to wed the guy? I mean, how bad would the guy have to be before you screamed, "I would rather be tortured and my flesh eaten than be married to this guy."?

In the story, Teagan Shrike turns eighteen the summer before his senior year in high school. From one day to the next, he goes from heir apparent to a fortune to a fugitive from two drug cartels, the police and a shadowy relative who wants the billion dollar job badly enough to kill him for it. Teagan must make a series of life and death decisions. He must also decide whether he wants to marry the 'correct' girl and take up his position as head of a family of inbred, wealthy and deadly monsters in human form.

When Zhou Yingxue heard Ren Xiaosu address her as "auntie," she couldn't hold it in any longer. Thinking of how she was only 25 years old and still in her prime, how did she end up being called an auntie?
Of course, Ren Xiaosu did not really think that Zhou Yingxue was old. It was just that he had seen her outside before.
The people from the Intelligence Service who were watching Ren Xiaosu thought their tailing operation was flawless. They even believed that Ren Xiaosu was extremely stupid to not have noticed them.
But actually, Ren Xiaosu purely didn't care about them as he just wanted to heal from his injuries.
Besides, it would have been better if they had gotten some nanosoldiers to come and keep watch on him. Normal people were not able to arouse Ren Xiaosu's interest in the slightest.
However, Zhou Yingxue was not an average person either. She said with a smile, "At my age, it's more appropriate if you address me as big sister. Are you familiar with the library?"
"No." Ren Xiaosu shook his head.
Zhou Yingxue was stunned. He had been coming to the library every single day for almost half a month now, yet he was saying he was not familiar with it?
She continued with a smile, "I'm looking for a book titled The Theory of Time. Do you know where it is?"
Ren Xiaosu looked up at her. He had already given an attitude, trying to distance himself from her, yet she still persisted in striking up a conversation with him.
But at this moment, the voice from the palace said, "Quest: Help the knowledge seeker determine the correct location of the book."
Ren Xiaosu was stunned. Why did this quest have to be assigned to him now of all times? Moreover, the quest even specifically stated it had to be the correct location, so he could not just point to a random spot. However, he really did not know where the book was.
He would have to do the quest no matter what. He looked at Zhou Yingxue and tried his luck by saying, "The Theory of Time must be in this library. Why don't you look for it yourself?"
Zhou Yingxue was taken aback by the answer. 'You might as well say that the book is inside Stronghold 88! Of course I know it's in this library!'
However, Ren Xiaosu didn't care about that. He thought that since the palace was just asking him to pinpoint the correct location, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the book was right here in the library, right?
The voice from the palace said, "Quest complete. Awarded Basic Skill Duplication Scroll."
Ren Xiaosu wanted to give his own ingenuity a thumbs up. There was probably no one else who could match him in terms of exploiting loopholes when it came to doing quests!
Seeing how awkward it was, An Yuqian quickly found the book titled The Theory of Time and handed it to Zhou Yingxue. Zhou Yingxue got very frustrated but could not vent.
At this moment, a group of people came into the library from outside. It was Wang Yuchi and the others.
When they came to the table where Ren Xiaosu was, they were a little taken aback when they saw Zhou Yingxue sitting there as well. They were used to sitting together at this table to study by themselves.
If Zhou Yingxue was seated here, they would have a stranger in between them. That would make it very awkward, and they would have to be very careful with their words.
They would often discuss some secretive topics during their conversations. After all, they knew too much, so they would unintentionally bring it up while talking.
Zhou Yingxue knew these people wanted to sit together with Ren Xiaosu, but she just pretended to focus on her book and sat there without any intention of excusing herself.
Someone wanted to ask Zhou Yingxue if she could change seats but was stopped by Wang Yuchi. "The library is a public place, so we have no reason to disturb others from reading where they want."
Ren Xiaosu gathered the books in front of him and said, "Let's switch tables."
The library was very large, and there were a lot of tables other than this one. As such, their entire group went to another table and left Zhou Yingxue there to continue reading by herself.
Meanwhile, Zhou Yingxue sat there for the rest of the entire afternoon reading The Theory of Time. She had to do so in order to portray that she was really here to read so as not to arouse Ren Xiaosu's suspicions. No one really knew whether she could even absorb what she was reading.
Zhou Yingxue was a little frustrated. She did not lack suitors! How could she not even have enticed the young man in front of her one bit?! Something must be wrong with him, right?!
After that day, Zhou Yingxue never appeared before Ren Xiaosu again. The frequency of him being watched also lessened. Sometimes, they would only keep watch on him once every few days.
Meanwhile, An Yuqian's lectures were starting to progress much quicker. He even sighed, saying how he had never thought it would be this easy to teach students. When he used to teach, he always felt the students were really stupid.
Ren Xiaosu realized An Yuqian could have been in research in the past. Later, he somehow became a librarian. When he had time, he thought that maybe he could ask Yang Xiaojin about it. She might just know something regarding this.
As they learned more, Wang Yuchi and the other male students would occasionally sketch the armor's blueprint from imagination during their breaks. Now that the delay in their control of the nanomachines had been reduced to less than 0.2 seconds, they would sometimes imagine how they would look with the armor on. It was really exciting just thinking about it.
After they sketched out the designs for the arms and hands, An Yuqian caught a glimpse and said with a laugh, "So you'd wanted to design something like that? Y'know, it's completely unachievable!"
Ren Xiaosu looked up at An Yuqian. "Why?"
An Yuqian replied, "A lot of people are looking to design 'mechanical armor' and think that these individual combat systems can play a significant role on the battlefield. However, there's too many challenges to overcome."
Ren Xiaosu asked with great interest, "What kinds of challenges?"
"First of all, you can't solve the issue of the propulsion system." An Yuqian sneered, "How could there be such a powerful and portable power source in this world? There's only one kind of power source like this, and it's achieved through controlled nuclear fusion!"
Ren Xiaosu was stunned. Yang Xiaojin was from the Saboteurs, an organization that hated nuclear technology the most. If he were to fit a controlled fusion reactor on his armor, wouldn't all of the Saboteurs come after him?
"Are there any other potential power sources?" Ren Xiaosu asked.
An Yuqian said firmly, "No! At least not within the limits of known technology! The raw materials for fusion are deuterium and tritium. If the technology is advanced enough, just deuterium alone can be used. An abundant amount of deuterium already exists in water. But the existing methods of controlled fusion, such as the 'tokamak,'[1] present a very difficult problem to solve. The question remains on how to shrink the size of the device so it can be fitted easily on a human body. The larger the visible radius of the device, the better the energy confinement!"
"It's not impossible if you want to shrink it, but it will be difficult." An Yuqian looked at Ren Xiaosu and the others with a smile. "It's just a dream for the several of you to achieve it."
Ren Xiaosu frowned. He had also been struggling with the power source for the nanomachines all this while. After all, if he only depended on his bioenergy to charge them, he would only be able to use it for two minutes with every two hours of charging. It would not be enough to sustain the nanomachines in a high-intensity battle.
"Are there any other challenges that can't be overcome?" Ren Xiaosu asked.
An Yuqian said, "How would you command the full body of armor to listen to your orders? How complicated a procedure would it take in order to—"
"That seems rather easy to solve," interrupted Ren Xiaosu.
An Yuqian was confused. 'What are you bragging for?!'
However, Ren Xiaosu did not intend to say any more than that. Be it the Yang Consortium or the Li Consortium, no one would possibly use the nanomachines as armor for now. That was mainly because it would be a little too extravagant to use them like that.

During lunch, the ladies came up to Alex and began to stuff him with the food they brought from home. By the time lunch was over, Alex was overwhelmed by the gesture both in his heart and his stomach. His stomach swelled and bulged enough to almost tear apart his shirt.
After lunch, when all the ladies and Alex came back, they were immediately called by Karen in the meeting room.
In the meeting room, Karen was sitting in the middle while all the others were either on her right or on her left.
Alex and Amber being the newbies, were sitting at the far end opposite to each other.
"You must know why we are having a meeting now. Many of you know our company acquired another company a month ago". Karen said as she addressed all of them.
All of them nodded except for Amber and Alex.
Amber raised her hand to ask about it, but Karen who saw it ignored her, and said, "As for those who are new, let me tell you about it".
Listening to Karen, Amber brought her hand down. Karen continued, "Last month 'Theation' acquired a book publishing company".
Listening to this, there were complicated expressions on the faces of all those who were present there. Even though they knew about it, they thought it was completely unrelated to their own venture. They all began to gossip with each other.
"I know what you all feel, but it's not our job to question the decisions made by our superiors on what they should or should not do. Our job here is to do our best in promoting what we are asked to. Now we are asked to promote this new company. We all are here to discuss this matter and map out a strategy for promotion". Karen said as she was well aware of what all of them were thinking.
All the ladies nodded their head in understanding. Alex was amazed as to how focused his chief was that she would never partake in any gossip around the office. The respect he had for her increased by a notch.
The ladies began to discuss among themselves and give suggestions to the chief.
"Boss, why don't we ask one of the celebrities from the ongoing shootings to promote the company on their social media? Instead of making them the brand ambassador of the company, we can enter into a pay per post kind of agreement with them" Elaine said. She was the social media manager, so it was easy for her to keep an eye on that.
"That's a good idea, make a list of all the celebrities which fit our requirements in fees, popularity and their image," Karen said as she liked the idea, but she reminded, " Keep this in mind, the image of the celebrity is the deciding factor here.
"Yes, boss" Ellaine said as she wrote down the details in her pad.
"Boss, how about shooting an advertisement?" Amber said as she raised her hand.
"I don't think it is the right time". before Karen could say anything, Hazel pinched in.
"Why?" Amber asked confused.
"When companies start, they don't just outright jump into the market with advertisements. They need to make a small local market for themselves first". Hazel explained to Amber.
"Ohh..." Amber nodded in agreement.
After that, all the ladies present, again involved themselves in a discussion.
The discussion kept on going for some time.
Karen looked at Alex who was sitting silently, at the very end of the table, not taking part in the discussion, "Alex, are you not feeling comfortable?".
Hearing Karen, the chattering in the meeting room stopped, and the focus of all the ladies in the room shifted towards Alex.
"No, I am feeling fine". Alex said as he straightened himself.
"Then, don't you have any suggestions for us?" Karen asked, placing her palms on her chin as she supported herself with her arms on the chair. She looked curiously towards Alex.
"I have, in fact, I have two suggestions, but I don't know if you will like them". Alex said while scratching the back of his head, embarrassed.
"Owww... Alex, why are you being so shy? Just tell us even if nobody likes them, you will get to know what and where you are lacking". Elaine said as she encouraged him.
"Yeah, and it's even possible that we might end up using them with some or no changes". Jennifer said, mentioning him the possibilities.
"You listened to them, go on". Karen said as she gestured him to go on.
"Well, I don't know why the upper echelon of this company is so adamant on going with this publishing company. We need to keep in mind that everything is available online, not many people might end up buying our books" Alex said as he told everyone to not have their hopes high.
All of them nodded while Karen knitted her eyebrows. This problem, she was well aware of already.
"Well, first of all, we all know shooting is always going on here. One movie or TV series after the other, right?" Alex said.
All of them nodded, on hearing Alex.
"Now Ellaine here, suggested that we ask for a celebrity to endorse the company, right?" Alex asked.
"In a sense, yeah," Ellaine said.
"Now, on the same idea, we can have a different method of promotion. The projects here are of different genres too, so why don't we use a bookstore or cafe scenes to promote the books of our publications? Seeing the leads of the movie or series, reading a book people might get curious and end up searching about them or even buy them" Alex said, and by the end, he was very excited about his idea.
All of them looked amazed at his suggestion, this was such a basic and a very good idea to promote their books. It won't even cost them a bit.
"Why didn't I think about it? We don't need any resources for this. We can just go to any set and hand them over a book". Hazel said as she lamented over her foolishness.
"But it may not necessarily increase the sell of our hard copies. People might just download pdf from the internet". Alex soon poured water on their excitement.
"So what do you suggest we can do to increase that?" Karen asked. She was beginning to get interested in Alex's ideas. He might end up helping the boss a lot.
"Chief let me ask you something if for about two or three hours you have no access to the internet, nor do you have anything else all you can do is sleep, if I were to give you a book will you read it?" Alex asked with a smile.
"Well, I have to, if I can't do anything else". Karen said.
"This can be our way to sell our books".
"What are you saying tell us properly". Karen asked.
"The second suggestion is...".

Fang Ning slept without a care in the world, but as he woke from his dreams, he suddenly snapped, "This person is truly despicable. He'll always take his chances and assume that he won't fall into the same mistakes again if he isn't taught a lesson."
"Master, are you alright?" Heavenly Book baby quickly went up to console him at the sight of this.

"Okay, we can talk after you upgrade Baby to Ancient-level, but I won't hand you anything on a silver platter anymore." Fang Ning made a hefty demand.
Having heard this, Heavenly Book baby shone golden beams. It was deeply moved by the request. 
Sir System quickly dismissed it, "Tsk… It can only level up to Mythical-level because I can't afford to pay for Ancient Level. Do you even know how much experience points I have now?"
"How much? You're always so secretive and defensive, I don't even know how much money you have," Fang Ning retorted spitefully.
"4363 billion experience points in total. After defeating that Law-Enforcing True Dragon last time, I was awarded 2000 billion experience points but it took 3000 billion for my Dragonization Ability to be leveled up to Ancient-level," Sir System murmured.
"Eh, then wouldn't it be enough if you defeat it a few more times?" Fang Ning had a flash of wit.
"Ugh, no, no, it might've worked in the past but with more sophisticated rules now, I won't be awarded experience points if I repeatedly defeat my opponent without it improving in power," Sir System quickly explained.
"Ah, what a pity." Fang Ning sighed.
"Yeah, that's why I'm counting on you, Mr. Rich Boss." Sir System immediately cajoled.
"Cut out your nonsense. When Heavenly Sword was upgraded to Ancient-level last time, you only spent 1000 billion experience points. How is it insufficient now when you have 4000 billion?" Fang Ning got back on the topic at the sudden thought of the Ancient-Level Heavenly Sword of character. 
"It's different; the function of that stupid sword was simple, but your precious game book is all-encompassing. It's the Horn of the Azure Dragon and the Senior Grand Secretary, so it would cost at least ten trillion experience points for me to upgrade it to Ancient-level," Sir System said dejectedly. 
"Forget it, we'll only level up to Mythical-level then." Fang Ning decided to let this second rate good go and secure the bag first.

I've built a formation on Lunaette for the past two days called the Vitality-Sealing Major Formation of Enlightenment and Afflictions, where the mutated Whitestone people who can't control their reproduction can seek refuge and live normally without absorbing external vitality," Sir System said confidently. 
"That's more like it. I see you're quite efficient in handling work." Fang Ning was glad.
"Of course! Heavenly Book baby, quick, show your Master the location," Sir System urged. 
At that moment, the shining golden Heavenly Book flipped its pages to a segment regarding clans and stopped on the column about "Whitestone people".
Fang Ning watched as the golden pages started to reveal a scene. 
Once the deadly still, deserted Lunaette was now adorned with hints of greens and white. 
Clusters of white, tiny flowers grew on the greyish-white surface of stones while stalks of green vines crept atop rocks. 
From time to time, there would be a few white, squarish Whitestone people who would approach the rocks to pick flowers to eat. After that, they would lie down and sleep once they had found a sweet spot for that. 
"Eh, weren't Whitestone People supposed to be hardworking? Why are they living like pigs now?" Fang Ning was shocked at the sight of this. 
Heavenly Book baby explained hurriedly, "Oh, Master, about that, it was ordered by Clan Leader Shi Gan who said that Whitestone people have been reproducing too much, so their vitality consumption must be reduced to prevent overconsumption. He made sure everyone started by working on themselves and had stop comparing their Proficiency and Cultivation Base among one another. This is why other than Whitestone people who can transform magical energy, all the other dimwits had to reduce their vitality consumption by sleeping more."

"Understood, master." Heavenly Book baby quickly noted Fang Ning's orders.
Following that, images flashed quickly before the scenery on Lunaette was projected. 
Fang Ning quickly saw an enormous ring-shaped valley that was shrouded by fog. 
Under the heavy mist, one could vaguely see the Whitestone people who were stacked to form layers. With black spots on their bodies, it was easy to differentiate them from normal Whitestone people. 
"Uh, beneath that is the Vitality-Sealing Formation in which System Daddy made and within that are the mutated Whitestone people sitting on top of one another. They are barely getting by."
Remembering the Whitestone people's kindness earlier, Fang Ning softened and said, "This is tragic, can't you spare some space for them to sleep? Can't you just expand the area of the formation, Sir System? Make this small world a little bigger, because it's a real low blow if this is what you mean by small world."
"I can't call it a small world if I make it bigger," Sir System muttered.
"What did you say? Speak up, I can't hear you," Fang Ning said humorlessly.
"Oh, I'll enlarge it right away. I'll guarantee at least 7 square meters of living space per person." Sir System gave in immediately.
"Mmm, that's more like it, it's not like I was trying to force an impossible task on you. We should help kind people like these more often in the future. After all, there are many deceitful opportunists out there and they are not kind at all. Fang Ning opened the file and started to read.
In the document were descriptions of all the functional changes that had occurred after Sir System leveled up to a God-level System.
