Chapter 55

A Father's Greatest Fear

Lily's POV

I went back to the common room. Harry, Hermione and Ron were awake. I also saw Ginny there.

"Give me that book. Now."

He didn't move, so Ginny snatched the book and gave it to me. I opened the book and my eyes went wide.

"Oh my god. Where did you get this?"

"That first potions class. It was in the cupboard."

I knew exactly who this book belonged to.

"You know who the Half-Blood Prince is?" Hermione asked.

I didn't answer. I left the common room and went straight to my father. I pounded on the door and he threw it open.

"Lillian what on earth…!?"

I held up the book so he saw the name inside. I'd never seen this look on his face. Shock, realization… and a slight bit of fear.

"Where did you get this?" he asked slowly.

"I can't tell you."

He narrowed his eyes.

"Lillian you tell me where you found this right now."

I didn't want Harry to get in trouble.

"I got it from someone who got it out of a cupboard."

"And you're not going to tell me who it is? Even though they almost killed the boy you love? The boy who asked you to marry him?"

My eyes went wide and my jaw dropped.

"I know that ring. Even if you wear it on the other hand, I know what it is. It looks beautiful on you. And if you won't tell me, that means it was Potter."

"Daddy please don't do anything. Harry didn't know what that spell would do."

"Lillian you know I can't- What are you doing?!"

I grabbed the book and ran to the fireplace. I pointed my wand and set it on fire.

"You can't do anything. You have no evidence. I'm sorry."

I heard him sigh so I turned around. His back was to me, his hand behind his back.

"No, I'm sorry Lillian. I'm sorry for so many things. I won't do anything. Now get to bed."

I slowly walked to the door. I looked at him and he hugged me tightly.

"I love you Lily."

I hugged him, but I was a little worried. He never acted like this. Almost like he was saying good bye.

"I love you too, dad."

He let me go and I smiled before leaving.

Snape's POV

I watched my only daughter leave. I knew that tonight she would hate me. But I would rather she hate me, than lose her forever. The dark lord would kill her if he doubted my loyalty. I was not going to let that happen. And I couldn't let Draco do it. I couldn't let him become a killer. Lily would never forgive me if I did. I picked up the picture she'd given me for Christmas. The smile on her little face made me so happy. My beautiful baby girl. I'd raised her right, and she'd grown into a beautiful, intelligent, kind young woman. She was the best of my life, she made me so proud and I knew she always would. I used to be afraid of many things. The dark lord, at one point James Potter. Now, all I was afraid of, was losing my daughter. And I was going to do everything in my power to make certain that didn't happen. Even if it cost me my life. I couldn't save her mother, but I would save Lily.

I wrote a letter to Lily and hid it in the picture. Then, I knew it was time for me to leave.

Lily's POV

When I went to visit Draco that night, he was gone! I looked for him everywhere, but he wasn't on the fourth floor. I searched all his favorite places. All that was left was the Astronomy Tower. As I went up, someone grabbed me and pulled me under the floor. I turned to look into my brother's green eyes. He held his finger to his lips and I looked up. Draco was there, his wand pointed at Dumbledore. Draco had tears in his eyes, and I didn't fail to notice the death eaters behind him. Harry and I stood there watching. I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. I raised my wand and turned, but it was only dad. He held his finger to his lips and we nodded. He looked at me and then pulled me to him. He hugged me tightly.

"I love you, Lillian. My daughter." He whispered.

He let me go and I stood there confused.

"No."

I held my breath and Harry took my hand.

"Severus. Please."

"Avada Kedavra!"

My eyes went wide. Dumbledore fell from the tower. My beloved father had killed Dumbledore. He'd killed a man who'd always tried to protect Harry and I. I slowly shook my head. There had to be a reason! Dad took Draco away and the death eaters followed. Harry ran after them, but I couldn't find a way to move.

Harry's POV

I ran down the hill.

"Snape! He trusted you!"

Snape and Malfoy turned.

"Sectumsempra!"

He blocked. I kept firing spells, too angry to care if I killed him or not. He knocked me off my feet and walked forward.

"You dare use my own spells against me? I'm the Half-Blood Prince."

"Back away from him!"

Lily's POV

I slowly walked forward with my wand pointed at my father. He didn't even raise his wand. I got between him and Harry.

"Go. Leave." I said.

"Lillian…"

"I don't want to hear it! Get out of here! Don't come back!"

I actually saw a tear in his eye.

"I'm sorry."

He turned and left before I could say anything. Draco was looking at me. I smiled at him and mouthed 'I love you'. He smiled a bit and then my dad dragged him away.

"I will find you and bring you home, Draco. I will always find you." I whispered.

I turned ad knelt down next to Harry. I helped him up and we went back to the castle. Everyone was gathered around. They slowly parted for Harry and I to come through. Dumbledore lay there on the ground. I came up next to Ron and Hermione. Harry knelt down next to Dumbledore and cried softly. Ginny went forward and put her arms around him. I lit my wand and held it up to the sky. Soon, everyone's wands were lit and aimed to the sky. The dark mark slowly vanished and they took Dumbledore away.

The soul had been alone, thinking it was in an empty abyss until that prompt appeared in front of him. He realized that he could understand it, but wondered who he was and how he came to be here.
Though their faces were threatening to fade from his memories, he sensed that he had people that he loved, but even if he could just barely remember their faces, he couldn't remember their names or anything else.
He felt a wrongness here, like this was not supposed to happen, he thought he should have remembered.

Well, leaving that aside, when you reincarnate you are supposed to lose your memories of your previous life, but I'll do you a serving. You see, you raked up a whole lot of Karma in your previous life, so I'll let you use it to buy things in the shop.
Giving things for free is just broken, don't you think? I certainly do! That was the largest flaw I found with the original system you were given. The second problem was keeping your memories in tact, which goes against the normal requirements for reincarnation, though.
I'll tell you what, though. If you entertain me in this life, I'll see you when you pass and I'll think about granting you an exception and returning your memories to you. Don't come too soon, though, as that would be boring.

Needless to saym studying all of that took a very long time, hut once he finished he was notified that he had additional wandcrafting options.
Draco did not mind that the Mythical Wandcrafting book cost him half a billion Karma once he say the new options.

The soul was very excited to see that, understanding that SSS was a very good result and thinking that he'd get something amazing
Not wanting to waste what time he had left, he got into the shop and bought a set of occlumency books, Basic and advanced, for 10000 Karma, saving 2500 Karma since he bought them at the same time. There was sadly no mythical Occlumency book like there was for wandcrafting, at least not yet.
"Open Basic Occlumency." he thought.

His name is Draco Malfoy, at least it is now.  He started out as a soul before the System he possessed rebooted, apparently after suffering a critical error.  Apparently, features he had from the system were incompatible with where he was to be reincarnated, but our MC couldn't remember why.

After receiving a mysterious message through his system from a god or something, someone calling him Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, the soul who would become Draco Malfoy, was left to experiment with his Mysterious System.

Fortunately, his Newbie Pack gave him all seven Harry Potter books to help him prepare to enter his new world, and with that he was able to begin preparing for the eventual conflicts to come.

While his memories of his previous life, or perhaps lives, appear to be missing, he sometimes finds himself just understanding things mysteriously, and he's uncertain why.

He decides that after seeing all the Karma he had previously accumulated, that he must have been a good guy in his previous life or lives, so he decides to live his new life his own way and to hell with the script/story he read.

He'll rise to the top of the world, exploit every advantage his system gives him, and surpass both Moldybutt and Dumbledore!

[AUTHOR :I have used her PoV to explain many things. And some questions can arise like how Lucifer is harry but people are still talking like there is another harry, which will be explained so don't worry.
And for those worried about him revealing his cards, the reason is mentioned in Authors thoughts.]


I'm Minerva McGonagall, deputy headmistress of Hogwarts. It has not been a good day for me. Today, a new academic year will begin for the Hogwarts. I already have much work to do, as this term Harry Potter, The-boy-who-lived  will join the school too. Along with that, Albus has also brought an important artifact in school and has asked us teachers to set up a defense for it. 

And the most important thing is that he didn't allow us to put a strong defense. When I asked him privately, he told me the actual reason for all that. The defenses that we have created are actually just a test he set-up for Harry Potter. Well its not that I care about it or something but if students come to harm than questions will arise whether Hogwarts is safe or not and so on. 

'Well If that happen than I will simply go with the lines of I was unaware and put all the blame on Albus. He has so much sway over the wizarding population that he will manage.

But what I'm really worried about is that a prince has appeared out of nowhere. From the looks of it, he is actually very knowledgeable. You can just see his book on it which is actually approved by many other foolish wizards in other countries. I mean he is just a child, how can they trust him so much. But because of him, I have to make extra sure that there is no mistake. Just why did he need to attend Hogwarts, if he is so smart than just go and take the NEWT test and be done with it. I wish he is ignorant of customs and all. Well the crown doesnot have that much power now and ministry has power over him atleast in wizarding world.

But that is not all. According to the books of entry, his name is 'Lucifer Denial Morningstar Slytherin Pendragon'. Yes, he is an actual heir to Slytherin. Which means he can ask for special treatment. And he is also a Morningstar which is another old family. Luckily there was an agreement of founders with the British ministry due to which the ministry has control over the school.

On top of that, I have a neutral character to maintain so as to look like I don't favour anyone Oh how jealous I'm of that bat (Snape). I'm getting too old for this shit. And now I have to go and welcome the 1st year students specially the Prince.'

    [At the door of Hogwarts]

And here I'm outside the school waiting for Hagrid and the 1st year students. But what is this, I can spot Harry, some other insignificant students but where is the bloody prince. Did he not appear, or did he missed the train. Or did he decided to not join the school.  If something like that happened than it would be a disaster. Specially if that Rita Skeeter from Daily Prophet got to know about this. I need to talk with Hagrid now. The sorting ceremony could wait.

MINERVA : " Hagrid, I see that you have brought the first year students but where is Mr. Lucifer. If I'm not wrong than 4 students including him are missing. You didn't forget to bring someone here and checked the list right?"
 
HAGRID : "Ummm..? I.. ugh thought there will not be any need to check it that's why I didn't. But I shouted for tge 1st year to gather up. There should not be anyone missing."

' Really this bloody idiot of a giant. If not for his loyalty for the Dumbledore, he would have already been removed from the school. Just what was Albus thinking when he made Hagrid the gate keeper of the school.'

MINERVA : " You should check the list. Its your duty ..."

Minerva was interrupted from her lecture when she heard a sound from the above, a little farther from the school where...


    (3rd Person's   PoV)

When Minerva was lecturing Hagrid, suddenly some few meters above the lake, a giant portal with Multicolored edges and radius of approximately 10 metres appeared. Out of the portal, a huge bird with wing span of around 15 metres that looks like its made of black and crimson flames come out with a booming chirp. On top of the bird, a boy and three girls were standing who were not harmed by the flame at all. 

The boy's and girls' features were illuminated by the fire produced by the huge Pheonix. They all were wearing a cloak on which there was a beautiful design of a sword with wings and a halo on top of handle of the sword. 

The boy has 'black hair with different shades of grey making a smoke like pattern' and Multicolored eyes which look like it keep changing pattern like a Kaleidoscope. He was wearing a black robe. There was also a rabbit like animal on the boy's shoulder. 

The first girl has white hair, and purple eyes. She was wearing Magenta colored robes. 

 The second girl had light blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing whitish-blue robes. 

While the last girl has black hair and magenta color eyes. She was wearing violet colored robes.

There clothes looked very high class and it looked like they were prince and princesses. Which they were actually. They were Lucifer, Hope, Elsa and Sunny respectively.

When the people looking at them, Soon another chirp was heard and a smaller bird with red feather appeared in an explosion of flames and than the said bird bow towards the previous group. 

This bird was Fawkes, the forcefully binded familiar of Albus Too-many-names Dumb-as-door. When the boy noticed Fawkes, he started at it for a few seconds and waved his hand. On doing so, Fawkes shined than chirp happily and disappeared again with a flash. What Lucifer did was freed the bird from DumDum. 

After the bird landed on the ground, Lucifer jumped from the bird and landed on the ground and then helped his girls to come down one by one while totally ignoring the crowd. Once they all had landed, the bird just directly vanished in a black flame. And the four went to meet the group outside the school gate. And they give simple introduction.

While introducing themselves, Lucifer and his girls did notice one child. He had black messy hair and brown eyes. Lucifer noticed him not because he was special or anything but because he was the new pawn of DumDum. Lucifer had previously sent a message through goblins to DumDum that Harry Potter may have died and there was no way to prove it because DumDum had already taken over all his vaults. And Lucifer deactivated all the surveillance gadgets Dumbles was using.

So what did DumbDumb do, He just reveal his wild card. There was another boy who fits the category though the boy's parents were just canon fodder. And the boy was born with a birth mark that looks like 'V' on his forehead. So Dumbles believed that he was the true boy of prophecy and decided to replace the boy as Harry Potter. The boy was an orphan so all he needed to do was go there and make up a story of how his real name is Harry Potter and so on. 
[ AUTHOR : If you are still confused than let me explain you in simple terms. The prophecy was very vague it just states the day on which the child will be born and that the child's parent had defied Voldemort trice. Defied can be anything, they can simply refuse to a drink and it will be counted. So Dumbles thought may be the other boy is the one prophecy is referring to. And as the only way to identify the boy was Vaults which are already taken over by him or some test done which Dumbles not allow anyone to do, Dumbles got a new fake Harry Potter for his schemes.]

LUCIFER : " I'm Lucifer and these lovely ladies are my fiancee. The one in Magenta robes is Hope Princess of Ledgerdomain, The one in blue robes is Elsa Princess of Arendelle. And the one in violet robes is sunny who although is not a princess had a status similar to one. And lastly this one on my shoulder is Chiyo. And you must be Mrs McGonagall the headmistress of the school if I'm not wrong. And we are not late are we."

MINERVA : " Yes Prince Lucifer. And you all are not late but from next time please inform the school if you are not going to use Hogwarts Express. And now that all have arrived lets go inside. "

LUCIFER : " Ofcourse Mrs McGonagall."

Lucifer said and started to follow her inside the school with his girls when Minerva tell the group to wait a little bit and tidy themselves up in the time and come inside when she called them. Lucifer and his girls were ignoring the stares they were receiving from other students and joking around with each other when someone interrupted them.

??? : " Hey you have to call her Professor McGonagall and you can't just break the rules. It's a rule that you have to come to Hogwarts by Hogwarts Express, I read in in Hogwarts a History.  And you can't have 3 fiancees, polygamy is illegal. And why is Professor calling you prince. "

Lucifer turn around to see who is so daring to scream at him like that though he was already sure about who it was. And yeah, it was Hermione irritating Granger. The sucker for rules and licker of authorities' boots.

LUCIFER : " That is why I hate muggles who just enter our society out of nowhere without no information on our customs and try to enforce their own customs on us. Oh don't misinterpret me, I'm truly neutral about muggles but I hate it when they don't try to learn our laws and customs but try to impose their own on us.

And who are you to talk to me like that, who gave you the right to tell me what I can and what I can't. And don't try to teach me law girl. In wizarding community, polygamy is legal.  And the book you called Hogwarts a History is written by a muggle who himself don't have much knowledge about law, because if he had than he should know that he could be put behind the bars for things he had written in it.  Books are not always right. You have a best example among yourself: 

Right Mr. Harry James Potter the boy-who-lived. I have heard many things about you like how you own your own Dragon army or like you can ride on a magical broom to the moon and so on. Is that true though. Because to me, you just look like any other muggle-born wizard here. 

Do you even know how much power you have in wizarding world. And did you truly just handover each and everything you own to Mr. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledor. Are you a fool. And most importantly if not for me, he could have taken over The  Most Ancient and Noble House of Black. Luckily I have claimed the heirship of the house."

When Lucifer completed, another boy interrupted him.

(???) "What do you mean that you have claimed the heirship of House Black. It belongs to me. And how are you related to House Black anyway. I'll tell my father."

LUCIFER : " You can tell your father whatever you want. It's of no importance to me though if he did bother me, believe me there will just be an extinction ofone more pureblood house. Its not so rare now because of action of a certain Baldy Dark-Lord-wannabe what was his name again? "

He asked his girls who started arguing with each other.

Hope : " Something like Moldyshorts."

Sunny : " No, it was Cuddlemort."

Elsa : " I think it was Schmoldemort"

(???) : " It was Voldemort."

Though they were interrupted by another voice. The one who said that was a girl with blond hair and green eyes.

LUCIFER : " Ohh yes, Voldemort that was his alias. With the real name Tom Marvolo Riddle. Born to a muggle and a squib named Merope Gaunt. The Lord to house of Gaunt  and also the master of some Imbeciles called Death-Eaters. Who killed in the name of blood purity unaware of the fact that their own Lords has blood even more impure than what they called half-blood.

Though may I ask your name my lady. There are very few competent wizards and witches left who had the courage to take the name of The-Man-Who-Was-Killed-By-1-Year-Old."

(???) : " I'm Daphne Greengrass, Prince Lucifer. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Lucifer took her hand and kiss it and said:

LUCIFER : "Ohh please call me Lucifer, and the pleasure is all mine to talk to such a beautiful girl. Oh and please allow me to introduce ourselves once more. I'm..."

When the both were introducing themselves, the others were silent thinking about what Lucifer revealing the blood heritage of the dark lord and how disrespectfully he was talking about the him. Though the silence was interrupted by the voice of DumbDumb who told them to enter the room.

When they enter the school, Dumbles said

DUMBASS : " My boy Lucifer, is it really necessary to be so violent against a Ms. Granger and Mr. Malfoy. And you are not wearing school uniforms. And please refrain the use of word 'muggle' please. And can you tell me about what you said about being heir to the House Black. And why did it looks like you don't like me very much. Did I make some mistake that you will like to tell us."

The thing is that the whole conversation was heard by the whole student body and the teachers. Dumbles even tried to stop Lucifer from revealing to many things but Lucifer made a barrier around them which allowed the sound to go out but not come it.

LUCIFER : " First of all Mr. Dumbledore, neither you nor the headmaster of school had the right to call me 'My boy' so please refrain it otherwise I will have to take serious measures and may take it as you disrespecting my heritage. As Mr. Dumbledore, you will call me Prince and as Headmaster, you will call me Mr. Morningstar or other house name I have.

As for uniforms, I think you already know that Royal Family has special privilege in the matter. My ancestors, Merlin and Arthur Pendragon himself has an agreement with the founders that give me and by extension my fiancees this privilege.

As for using the word 'muggle', muggle means normal or mudane there is nothing wrong with it. Though what is wrong is using the word 'Mudblood' which if my source is not wrong than many people inside the school are using. 

And although matters of house Black shouldn't be told to you, because of 'The great Harry Potter' here you are involved. The thing is that Harry and I were adopted into House Black because Bellatrix had gone against house Moto of never bowing down in front of anyone. And Mr Malfoy here was not considered for the post at all. Because of his father being a possible Death-Eater too. And when Mr. Potter allowed you to take away the family vaults into your custody, he indirectly go against the Moto too so my claim to House Black become stronger.

And don't get met started on your mistakes. First of all, you removed the classes where wizarding world is introduced to muggle students. Than you hide the information on Voldemort's actual heritage which helped him gain support for his rise. And don't try to falsify me because I already have enough proof." 

Lucifer's direct disrespect to the Headmaster, caught everyone off guard. And everyone went silent contemplating about what Lucifer had revealed. And although they didn't show it, many started to agree with him. But most of them started to hate him because he went against Dumbledore. Specially one first year girl who become so angry that she was going to shout at him again but one look from Lucifer scared her and shut her up.

Dumbledore not expecting such a reply become very angry and frustrated though he still maintain his fake smile and just apologize for calling him boy and ignore the other accusations. He announce the beginning of sorting ceremony so as to not make things awkward and change the subject.

Minerva McGonagall step infront and place the sorting hat on the stool. Sorting hat gave its signature song and then the discrimination ceremony begin. Lucifer and girls totally ignore it except Daphne Greengrass who went to Slytherin. This time, when Harry's name came, they was no shouting or anything because of Lucifer's speech. They just clapped for him and let him join the Gryffindor's table. Than at last only four names were left. Elsa's turn was first, so she finally looked at the hat. It was covered with dirt and torn off from some places so she didn't want to wear it so she just sent Lucifer a look who went ahead instead of her. 

Lucifer look at the hat and said:

LUCIFER : " I refuse my mind being read because I know that headmaster can order you to tell him what  is inside my head. And neither will my girls so you won't be sorting us."

Dumbles : " But my bo..I mean Mr. Morningstar, if you are not sorted than you will not be allowed to join school." he was going to say my boy but stopped himself when Lucifer give him a menacing look.

LUCIFER : "Did you not hear or are you ignoring what I said. I'm lord Slytherin. I already belong to House Slytherin and can invite into my house whoever I want. If not than I have power to take away Hogwarts's right to use the Slytherin name. It will have only three house from then on. So don't try to deny that. "

And Lucifer blow away people's mind again. And after an awkward meal, Dumbles made his announcement about forbidden forest and 3rd floor being deadly on which although Lucifer wanted to call out but thought it would be better if he call out when someone truly died. 

After the feast, Headmaster told all the prefects to take the students to their dorms....

Chapter 11

Blood and Chocolate

Hermione had decided that she would come over Ron's apartment at least twice a week to clean up the chaotic mess. She didn't mind it really, she just hated it when every single word out of Ron's mouth was Karina this, Karina that… It annoyed Hermione, but she wasn't jealous.

Was she?

"And she said the cutest thing yesterday…" Ron rambled on and on as Hermione blocked him out. She fished out a couple of soda cans from underneath the sofa and much to her surprise and disgust, found some dirty boxers on top of the kitchen counter.

"… isn't it so cute and funny?" Ron went on. "And then she said…"

Hermione saw that the only thing untouched and spotless was a picture of Ron and Karina. It was a Muggle photograph, of course. Karina would be quite surprised to see a moving picture. It was placed daintily in the middle of the coffee table where Ron probably kneeled in front of, staring at it for a good deal of time everyday. And in the photograph, Ron looked extremely happy.

Hermione wasn't jealous. She felt happy for Ron. He was well on his way of winning this bet. And it seemed like this was more than a bet to him. Karina was the real thing…

Hermione wasn't jealous.

She definitely wasn't.

Harry bit down on a Chocolate Frog while cleaning around the bookcase seeing as how Draco never liked to clean anything other than himself. He came across a thin book titled The Little Prince and he picked it up out of curiosity. Harry didn't remember buying a book like this so it must've belonged to Draco. He looked at the cover and began flipping through the pages. What need does Draco have of a children's book? Harry settled on a random page and began reading:
It was then that a fox appeared.

"Good morning," said the fox.

"Good morning," the little prince answered politely, though when he turned around he saw nothing.

"I'm here," the voice said, "under the apple tree."

"Who are you?" the little prince asked. "You're very pretty…"

"I'm a fox," the fox said.

"Come and play with me," the little prince proposed. "I'm feeling so sad."

"I can't play with you," the fox said. "I'm not tamed."

"Ah! Excuse me," said the little prince. But upon reflection he added, "What does 'tamed' mean?"

… "… It means to 'create ties'…"

"'To create ties'?"

"That's right," the fox said. "For me you're only a little boy just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you have no need of me, either. For you I'm only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, we'll need each other. You'll be the only boy in the world for me. I'll be the only fox in the world for you…"

Draco walked through the front door and slammed it shut just as Harry stuffed the book back amongst the others and shoved the rest of the Chocolate Frog into his mouth. The blonde ambled across the living room and lazily plopped down on the sofa. He looked towards Harry's direction and pinned him down with his gaze.

"What?" Harry asked, his mouth bulging with chocolate.

"Potter…" Draco drew in a deep breath. "Do you miss women?"

Harry was caught off guard as he stared wide-eyed at Draco. He swallowed the chocolate and opened his mouth to speak; but a laugh escaped instead.

"What?" Draco narrowed his eyes. "I'm asking a serious question here!"

Harry shook his head and chuckled, "Malfoy. We're not actually gay. So if you're missing women so terribly we can end this little charade right now if you'd like."

Draco looked annoyed as if that wasn't the answer he expected. Harry blinked in confusion as he watched the boy stomp into his bedroom and slam his door shut. But within seconds, the door opened again.

"Does it scare you?" Draco asked in a desperate tone. "Doing all this gay business, does it freak you out? Disgust you?"

"A b-bit, I guess," Harry stammered. "But we're just pretending, so…"

Draco grabbed Harry by the wrist and pulled him into the bedroom. He pushed Harry onto the bed and pinned him down by the shoulders.

"Malfoy!" Harry struggled to free himself. "What the bloody fuck are you doing!"

"Shut up," Draco whispered dangerously.

"Don't tell me what to— Mmmfff!"

Draco cut Harry off by pressing a rather aggressive kiss on his lips. Harry was trapped as he felt the weight of the boy pushed down against him; Draco's hips were unconsciously grinding against his. Harry desperately clutched onto the bed sheets and tightly shut his eyes waiting for some sanity to dawn upon Draco's mind… Draco licked and gently chewed on Harry's lower lip, coaxing him to open his mouth a little wider. Harry's common sense faded away slowly and was replaced by a sort of misty feeling. The brunette could do nothing else but oblige as he granted full entrance. Their tongues met and began to wrestle violently, almost angrily. Each fighting for domination. And since Draco was on top, he had already claimed control and decided to flaunt it by pulling away and sucking on Harry's lower lip. It was all going well until…

"OUCH!"

"Ah shit, Harry. I'm sorry—"

"Uh, yeah!" Harry's hand went up to his lip which was bleeding. Draco had bitten down a little harder than he intended to. "Are you trying to be a goddamn vampire?"

Draco immediately grabbed a box of tissues from the dresser and pressed a single tissue against Harry's lip, "Merlin, Potter… I didn't mean to take a chomp out of your lip—"

"Would've fooled me," Harry muttered, yanking the tissue away so he would be able to tend to himself. "What the hell was going on in your brain? Pushing me down like that…"

"If I remember correctly, Potter, you didn't exactly fight me off," Draco narrowed his eyes.

"Left me no choice, did you, Malfoy?" Harry glared. "You kinda had me pinned down so I could hardly move; much less SPEAK with your mouth bruising mine."

"Ah… you left out a tiny detail…"

"What?"

"You kissed me back!" Draco's face turned red as he watched Harry's green eyes haze over with a faraway expression.

"We were just practicing," Harry finally muttered, dropping the tissue.

Draco sighed and scooted closer, picking up the tissue and began dabbing at Harry's bloody lip, "Sorry 'bout that…"

Harry shrugged, "Doesn't matter now anyway." He paused and watched Draco tending to his bloody lip. Draco's face was so close that Harry's eyes grazed across the blonde's flawless skin and locked his stare right on his calm gray eyes. Harry's heartbeat slowly increased from normal to racing. It wasn't like he'd never been this close to Draco before… but…

Draco felt Harry's gaze on him and he slowly shifted his gray eyes upwards. Gray locked with green. For a brief moment, neither boy knew what to do. They felt embarrassed and awkward and the close proximity of their lips… if they initiated a kiss right now, they would just refer to it as "practice." And they both knew very well that it wasn't the right word to use… At the moment, they didn't care. Draco dropped the tissue he was holding and gently let his lips brush against Harry's. He waited to see the boy's reaction before going further. Harry didn't resist. So Draco leaned back in and placed weightless kisses on Harry's lips, encouraging him to open up a bit more. Harry didn't fight back this time as he allowed the blonde to gently kiss him. He liked it better seeing as the aggressiveness from earlier had disappeared.

Tastes like blood and chocolate… Draco thought as he slightly deepened the kiss. This wasn't so bad after all… All this business of pretending to be gay. Suddenly, sirens went off in Draco's head. PRETENDING to be gay. He thought to himself. Oh, Merlin… this is supposed to be pretending and here he was, enjoying it. He abruptly pulled himself away from Harry who seemed to be thinking the same thing. Both boys quickly distanced themselves from each other and fell in an uncomfortable silence.

Draco broke the silence with a sigh, "All that practicing got to my head, I guess… I'm sorry." Harry didn't respond. Draco looked over towards his direction and saw that Harry's back was facing him. "Potter?"

He saw Harry's shoulders tremble slightly, "So it was just practice? Just another one of your test runs?"

Draco looked affronted, "Test runs, Potter?" he spat. "Are you serious? Did you consider that a bloody test run?"

"Well, you just said—"

"Who cares what I said," Draco muttered furiously.

Harry fully faced him as his eyebrows drew together, "What are you getting so effing annoyed about?"

"You!" Draco answered, exasperated. "I never know what the hell you're thinking. I can usually read you like a book, but lately you've been so… gone. Do you like me? Do you hate me? I honestly don't know."

"All this coming from you, it's almost hilarious," Harry let out a derisive laugh. "This was your idea. Your little scheme for getting money and your name in the papers. And what the hell, Malfoy: Do I like you? This is all PRETEND, I'm not supposed to like you! And you're not supposed to like me either—"

"Who ever said I did!" Draco's voice rose. "I'm not doing all this because I'm bloody in love with you!"

"I. Don't. Give. A. Shit." Harry said between clenched teeth.

"Oh yeah, you're so convincing," Draco drawled sardonically. "The way you were kissing me totally proved it—"

"You kissed me."

"Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't like it? I totally felt your resentment when you were MOANING AND GROANING—"

"I was not—"

"Oh, Draco!" the blonde purred in a falsetto voice. "Rip my clothes off and make me feel good—"

"I did not say that!"

"Ah, but you were thinking it!"

Harry's eye twitched violently, "You are so friggin' random!" He fell back on the bed and threw his hands up in defeat. "Whatever. I hate you, so think whatever you want. Bloody git…"

Draco shrugged and stood up. He walked towards the door but paused before turning the knob, "About that last kiss… it wasn't just practice, was it? Tell me I'm not crazy," he paused. "Tell me that it felt…" his voice trailed off.

"Real?" Harry finished Draco's sentence.

Draco merely shrugged again as he silently shut the door behind him.

*** Gringotts

Griphook picked up a letter off his desk, he usually had several to answer, and he usually started from the top of the pile of letters, but this particular letter, though it was near the bottom of the pile, caught his attention.
It was addressed to 'Teller Griphook' as opposed to 'Gringotts Teller'
He opened the letter, noting it was from Mr. Potter, who he had helped, just before the school year had started.
He slit the letter open with an official Gringotts letter opener.
Dear Mr. Teller Griphook,
May your enemies blood taste the ground,
I was wondering whether the Potter family owns any pensieves, and if they do, whether it would be possible to withdraw it from the Potter vault despite my being only 11 years of age, and not Lord Potter yet,
May the gold of your enemies fill your vaults,
Your customer, Harry James Potter.
Griphook was surprised that Potter had followed goblin customs of speech and respected him as his position demanded.
He was pleased that he could answer in the affirmative and just because of Harry's courtesy, mailed it along with the letter back.

*** Hogwarts, next morning

Hedwig flew into the Hall, slightly late, heaving a large package which she dropped onto the table in front of Harry immediately and pecked his ear for snacks.
Harry passed Hedwig an owl snack and kept his package under the table and continued reading his book.
Hermione, who was sitting opposite him, gave him a meaningful look. Harry nodded back.
Dumbledore, who was on his way out of the hall stopped near Harry.
"Ah, Harry, my boy, your large package peaked my curiosity, if I'm not too prying, what was in the box?"
Harry looked down at the box rather than look at Dumbledore.
"Just some books I really liked in the Hogwarts library and wanted to have permanently, I owl-ordered the books so that I could keep them.
Dumbledore nodded politely and moved on, wondering what books Harry was interested in, but encouraged that Harry seemed to be studying.

*** Later, secluded part of the library

Harry and Hermione were in a really secluded part of the library, hidden between several awkwardly angled shelves, Harry and Hermione had dragged in a pair of armchairs and a table.
Harry pulled out his pensieve, it was a large engraved affair with the Potter crest which happened to be the talons of a griffin criss-crossed against an intricate letter 'P'.
It was far better than Dumbledore's and had the ability to project memories rather than the 'traditional form' of a pensieve which allowed one to view the memory only inside itself.
Harry entered his own memory, and Hermione watched as Harry paused the memory just as Voldemort was blasted back in the memory.
It was only there for a split second but there was no denying that it was The Dark Lord.
"We have to tell Dumbledore!" Hermione exclaimed.
Harry shook his head, he did not want to reveal his skill in Occlumency and his possession of a pensieve to the Headmaster.
"No, Hermione, I would have to reveal that I can do a level of Occlumency and I don't think that's a good idea."
Hermione looked puzzled, "But… what's the point of having knowledge if you don't tell people you have it?"
Harry sighed, this was definitely one of Hermione's biggest problems.
"You don't gain knowledge to flaunt it, Hermione, knowledge is to be used in your own advantage, whether revealing it is a good idea or not depends on the situation." Harry said, that was how he viewed knowledge, useful and to be used in your own favour, if revealing it got people on your side then so be it, but in this case, Harry didn't want to reveal his Occlumency skills unless absolutely necessary.
He had been lucky to fool Voldemort with his childish trick and he knew he would have to be more careful with his Occlumency as well as subtler.
"But telling Professor Dumbledore will only help us, he's the only one that Voldemort fears!" Hermione exclaimed.
Harry sighed, unsure how to explain.
"A skill like Occlumency is very useful to have, and especially when my skills are not very advanced, its not very helpful if a legilimencer knows what to expect." Harry said.
"But Professor Dumbledore won't use legilimency on a student!"
"Dumbledore is one of the greatest legilimancers of our age." Harry said, "It would be too tempting to be able to just know what happened at a confrontation, I won't risk it."
Hermione opened her mouth as if to protest but then decided to just trust Harry on this.
Neither she nor Harry would know how good of a decision that would turn out to be.

*** Later, Library

So far, both Harry's and Hermione's search had been fruitless, and Harry was thinking about just giving up and continuing the next day.
"Harry!" Hermione said excitedly, pointing to a short sentence in a thick book.
The Power of Unicorn's blood is one of the most magical substances in the world. Despite their magical properties, when it is forcefully extracted, it is no longer light magic and only the most desperate Dark Wizards would ever resort to using the blood of a unicorn. It magnifies dark blood magic rituals to a great extent, perhaps best exemplified in the life sustenance ritual, which could theoretically keep a soul alive within a host. Fortunately, there are no dark wizards foolish enough to actually try it, because once unicorn's blood is consumed, the user is cursed to live a half-life.
Hermione pointed to the sentence about theoretically keeping a soul alive.
"That could be it!" Hermione squealed.
Harry looked at it skeptically, "Would Voldemort be dumb enough to curse his own life?"
Hermione looked crestfallen.
"It's still a possibility, just… I don't think Voldemort would do something like that… unless he thinks he can break the curse."
