ROBBIE'S POV
        I stood by the edge of the woods and in front of me is the vast field, its lush grass grows along with the blooming flowers. With a cold breeze I shuddered, the sun is sinking under the horizon and its blood-like shade illuminates the field giving it a dark and scary atmosphere. There is a slight gleam of red in each blade of grass as if the heavens are giving a warning for the upcoming misfortune.
I looked over to the cottage in front of me, standing on the other side of the field, a single woman is outside taking out the dried laundry. She's wearing plain clothing consisted of a long gray skirt and a dirty white blouse, while her black hair is in a long braid.
Watching the French woman, I can't help but feel irked.
I have been doing the same thing for a week now, ever since I left the witch's hut.
"We've been watching them for a week now Robbie, What are you planning?" Amber asked as she stood behind me.
"I can't really take them all on my own especially with the father around, therefore I need to wait for the right moment" I replied, eyes still fixed to the house.
How dare this French woman to get married and have children, living a life she doesn't deserve.
After all that she did, taking away our happiness and causing Amber's death.
I will make her pay for everything.
I'll make her bleed.
I will take everything away, right in front of her very eyes.
She will suffer in my hands until she begs for death.
With an intense glare, I kept a closer look in the house.
As the sun finally vanished from the sky, the night immediately took over enveloping the world with its darkness.
It's time to move closer and stalk my prey.
Reaching the wooden fence of the house, I saw two shadowy figures on the door one is a woman and the other is a taller man.
The taller figure of the man slouched as the woman tried to steady him.
"I can't believe you are drunk again! You promised not to do this anymore!" the woman shouted with a thick French accent, however, the man could only groan in response.
"This is it, the moment we've been waiting for" Amber said with a poison-laced voice.
Moving closer, I hid on the side of the house.
I will wait until they are all asleep to make things easier.
During the previous week, I found out there are three children in the house.
A young girl around 7 years of age, a younger boy maybe around 4, and an infant. Which made things easier for me, in a single house I have found a sacrifice, a virgin, and an innocent.
The boy and the father could just die on the spot, I only need the others for the ritual.
Looking up the night sky if getting even darker, there is no moon tonight not even stars shone above.
I've waited and waited… until there is nothing else for me to hear other than the crickets from the field.
The time has come for the retribution we've been waiting for.
Taking the front door, I casually entered the house.
There is hardly anything in the place just an empty table and a messy kitchen, pots, and clutter placed everywhere.
I immediately entered the children's room, swiftly and silently in I went.
The two children are soundly asleep, together in a single bed.
Looking at them I almost feel bad, maybe it's not too late to just leave and never to come back.
"Robbie? What are you waiting for?" as Amber's soft voice echoed through my ears, all of my hatred return. No there is no going back, I've passed the point of no return.
I moved closer and without any hesitation slit the young boy's throat, he started bleeding out. The poor thing opened his eyes and looked straight at me, he tried to speak only for him to choke in his own blood making it flow out of his mouth and nose. The disgusting sound of fluid and a helpless silent struggle was heard until finally, the light left his eyes. Like a dead fish, his eyes are dull and empty.
I looked over to the other child, immediately I forcefully opened her mouth and placed a dirty rug inside, before tying another piece of fabric over her mouth.
Now unable to speak she looked up to me with fear-filled eyes, the terror they held as they tremble gave me a moment of bliss. The revenge that I've been waiting for has finally happened, with so much satisfaction yet it is only the beginning.
Placing both hands in the girl's neck I strangled her, kicking and squirming she tried to free herself from my hold only to fail miserably. Slowly she started losing consciousness before she had the chance to die, I quickly released her neck allowing her to breathe. Not yet she will not die yet, I need her blood for the ritual and I shall bleed her to death in front of her mother���s very eyes.
I left the unconscious child in the room with her dead brother.
I exited the room with Amber following closely.
"It's her turn" Amber as she moved towards the door with a hollow smile on her face.
With a single nod, I held the knob on my held.
Entering the room the scent of alcohol hit my nose, it was a familiar unfriendly scent that made me scrunch up my nose. In the darkness of the room I saw the couple sleeping side by side and beside their bed is a crib with a child sleeping peacefully, I could barely see but there is no mistaking their shadowy figures.
Walking closer I tip-toed to minimize the sound of footsteps, there is no such thing as being too careful. I did not wait for a week just to fail.
 Swiftly I stabbed the man in his throat to kill him quickly, I buried half of the knife down his throat and twisted it clockwise for good measure. For a moment I thought he was dead but the old bastard just has to wake up, with a croak his blood started pooling out of his mouth. Bastard! He's an inch away from death but he just had to ruin everything!
The old crone woke up by the sound emitting from her husband, she gasps and quickly tried to run out of the room. No! I will not let her escape! She will die tonight along with her children and husband.
Quickly I pulled the knife out of the man's throat allowing the blood to flow even more and run after the French woman, before she even had the chance to exit the room I grabbed her by the arm and tossed her back in.
With fear in her eyes she trembled.
"Help! Someone help! S'il Vous plait!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
Which made me laugh, they live away from everyone the nearest neighbor is at least a kilometer away.
"HA-HAHAHAHAHA! GO ONE SCREAM! SCREAM FOR ME! GO ON AND TEAR THOSE LUNGS OF YOURS! NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU! NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN WILL DIE ALONGSIDE YOU! SCREAM!" I shout at her as I showed her the knife that used to kill her husband and her son, crimson blood dripping from its blade.
"Well? Are you done? Because if so it's time to begin the slaughter" I told her calmly with dull eyes and no conscience left in me.
'Crazed eyes and devilish smile.
Under the moonlit night;
Crimson blood dripped from a knife.
Tear filled eyes and a trembling wife.

I was happy with my life playing with my mom/aunt rosy and some times with my neighbour's ( I was left with them when my mom went to work). every one cares for me I started feeling sense of belonging to this new world.
       As days went by I learnt that the language these people we speaking was French . From the conversation s of people I understood that world war 2 is over few years back which confirmed my speculation I was born in the golden age of peace and money. The smell of money and becoming a billionaire made me so happy . I understood by seeing my mom that we were poor and my father might have died or left us. I started learning basic word of french . slowly started walking with the help of my mom or some stool .
                                            Then came Christmas which made me happy atleast I may be able to learn which year this was . Almost all people in our village we farmers or people working in flour mill and most of them or all of them are illiterate. In this blissful day of Christmas we went to church everyone was happy and cheerful. I came to know that it's  going to be end of year 1955 . Well what ever I was happy. Then came my first birthday day.
                                            It was January  1st 1956 my birthday my mother was so happy carrying me to church while showing me people on the way with an expression ' see he is my life my boy kinda of expression' .As my eyes were same as my mom  light emerald green and hair was bit special it was rose gold hair she always felt proud for my beautiful looks .I felt happy to have such a loving mother then at church father blessed me and did prayer for me. As  for my birthday gift my mom gave me kids books with which looked old/used but I felt happy. My aunt gave me few chocolate s when I first got taste of them I was became fan of these they were tasty and felt creamy in mouth may be it was genetical. Because in my previous life I never like chocolates.
                              As time went by it's already been four years since I can in to this world which was same as my previous world . I gained lot of knowledge in these years about outside world which confirmed that may I was in my previous same world but in different time line .Which made me  happy .I started  reading and writing along with some kids with help of church Father who started teaching children  in the village .I came to know during my study that our village name was appenwhir . And we were nearly 500 - 600 kms  away from Paris . every thing was going well And my fifth birthday would be coming in few months and it felt like ' If there is God he is great ' for presenting me with a happy life. Although being born poor I had pollution safe life, growing in nature and people with good heart.


As the saying goes" all the good days have to come to an End" . 
 
All hell broke loose for my village and my family on my fifth birthday.

Here is everything I know about France: Madeline and Amélie and Moulin Rouge. The Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, although I have no idea what the function of either actual y is. Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, and a lot of kings named Louis. I'm not sure what they did either, but I think it has something to do with the French Revolution, which has something to do with Bastil e Day. The art museum is cal ed the Louvre and it's shaped like a pyramid and the Mona Lisa lives there along with that statue of the woman missing her arms. And there are cafés or bistros or whatever they cal them on every street corner. And mimes. The food is supposed to be good, and the people drink a lot of wine and smoke a lot of cigarettes.
I've heard they don't like Americans, and they don't like white sneakers.
A few months ago, my father enrol ed me in boarding school. His air quotes practical y crackled over the phone line as he declared living abroad to be a "good learning experience" and a "keepsake I'd treasure forever." Yeah. Keepsake. And I would've pointed out his misuse of the word had I not already been freaking out.
Since his announcement, I've tried yel ing, begging, pleading, and crying, but nothing has convinced him otherwise. And now I have a new student visa and a passport, each declaring me: Anna Oliphant, citizen of the United States of America. And now I'm here with my parents—unpacking my belongings in a room smal er than my suitcase—the newest senior at the School of America in Paris.
It's not that I'm ungrateful. I mean, it's Paris. The City of Light! The most romantic city in the world! I'm not immune to that. It's just this whole international boarding school thing is a lot more about my father than it is about me. Ever since he sold out and started writing lame books that were turned into even lamer movies, he's been trying to impress his big-shot New York friends with how cultured and rich he is.
My father isn't cultured. But he is rich.
It wasn't always like this.When my parents were stil married, we were strictly lower middle class. It was around the time of the divorce that all traces of decency vanished, and his dream of being the next great Southern writer was replaced by his desire to be the next published writer. So he started writing these novels set in Smal Town Georgia about folks with Good American Values who Fal in Love and then contract Life-Threatening Diseases and Die.
I'm serious.
And it total y depresses me, but the ladies eat it up.They love my father's books and they love his cable-knit sweaters and they love his bleachy smile and orangey tan. And they have turned him into a bestsel er and a total dick.
Two of his books have been made into movies and three more are in production, which is where his real money comes from. Hol ywood. And, somehow, this extra cash and pseudo-prestige have warped his brain into thinking that I should live in France. For a year. Alone. I don't understand why he couldn't send me to Australia or Ireland or anywhere else where English is the native language. The only French word I know is oui, which means "yes," and only recently did I learn it's spel ed o-u-i and not w-e-e.
At least the people in my new school speak English. It was founded for pretentious Americans who don't like the company of their own children. I mean, real y. Who sends their kid to boarding school? It's so Hogwarts. Only mine doesn't have cute boy wizards or magic candy or flying lessons.
Instead, I'm stuck with ninety-nine other students. There are twenty-five people in my entire senior class, as opposed to the six hundred I had back in Atlanta. And I'm studying the same things I studied at Clairemont High except now I'm registered in beginning French.
Oh, yeah. Beginning French. No doubt with the freshmen. I total y rock.
Mom says I need to lose the bitter factor, pronto, but she's not the one leaving behind her fabulous best friend, Bridgette. Or her fabulous job at the Royal Midtown 14 multiplex. Or Toph, the fabulous boy at the Royal Midtown 14 multiplex.
And I stil can't believe she's separating me from my brother, Sean, who is only seven and way too young to be left home alone after school. Without me, he'l probably be kidnapped by that creepy guy down the road who has dirty Coca-Cola towels hanging in his windows. Or Seany will accidental y eat something containing Red Dye #40 and his throat will swel up and no one will be there to drive him to the hospital. He might even die. And I bet they wouldn't let me fly home for his funeral and I'd have to visit the cemetery alone next year and Dad will have picked out some god-awful granite cherub to go over his grave.
And I hope Dad doesn't expect me to fil out col ege applications to Russia or Romania now. My dream is to study film theory in California. I want to be our nation's greatest female film critic. Someday I'l be invited to every festival, and I'l have a major newspaper column and a cool television show and a ridiculously popular website. So far I only have the website, and it's not so popular.Yet.
I just need a little more time to work on it, that's all. "Anna, it's time."
"What?" I glance up from folding my shirts into perfect squares.
Mom stares at me and twiddles the turtle charm on her necklace. My father, bedecked in a peach polo shirt and white boating shoes, is gazing out my dormitory window. It's late, but across the street a woman belts out something operatic.
My parents need to return to their hotel rooms. They both have early morning flights.
"Oh." I grip the shirt in my hands a little tighter.
Dad steps away from the window, and I'm alarmed to discover his eyes are wet. Something about the idea of my father—even if it is my father—on the brink of tears raises a lump in my throat.
"Wel , kiddo. Guess you're all grown up now."
My body is frozen. He pul s my stiff limbs into a bear hug. His grip is frightening. "Take care of yourself. Study hard and make some friends. And watch out for pickpockets," he adds. "Sometimes they work in pairs."
I nod into his shoulder, and he releases me. And then he's gone.
My mother lingers behind. "You'l have a wonderful year here," she says. "I just know it." I bite my lip to keep it from quivering, and she sweeps me into her arms. I try to breathe. Inhale. Count to three. Exhale. Her skin smel s like grapefruit body lotion. "I'l cal you the moment I get home," she says.
Home. Atlanta isn't my home anymore.
"I love you, Anna."
I'm crying now. "I love you, too. Take care of Seany for me."
"Of course."
"And Captain Jack," I say. "Make sure Sean feeds him and changes his bedding and fil s his water bottle. And make sure he doesn't give him too many treats because they make him fat and then he can't get out of his igloo. But make sure he gives him at least a few every day, because he stil needs the vitamin C and he won't drink the water when I use those vitamin drops—"
She pul s back and tucks my bleached stripe behind my ear. "I love you," she says again.
And then my mother does something that, even after all of the paperwork and plane tickets and presentations, I don't see coming. Something that would've happened in a year anyway, once I left for col ege, but that no matter how many days or months or years I've yearned for it, I am stil not prepared for when it actual y happens.
My mother leaves. I am alone.

In a blink of an eye, Marin had been on Texel for more than twenty days. And it was Christmas in 1495, and it came ...

Fixing a set date at 1500 she drew up a map of the regions as they were then dividing the country carefully and labelling the regions as they were then known with their ruling families and tried to cross match each family to the person they claimed as an ancestor.

Having done this it was easy then to trace the names back through history to the founders of the families at least six could find their lineage harking back to medieval kings but two could place their ancestors in the senate of ancient Rome. A month had passed as she worked obsessively to find the links and follow the known trails of family names when it occurred to her that perhaps she needed to find if these men of the past did, in fact, have mistresses or slaves that bore them illegitimate children. Perhaps like any doctrine of family law it was given to be a truth simply because that is what their extended family networks were based on.

Closing down her computer and putting the book safely away, Changying began packing up for the end of the day.

Chapter 13 

 

 Four veiled shadows crept as elves over the hills surrounding the boma. This time the riders, who had come with a very light load, dismounted from their horses just five hundred steps from the confines of the village.  The other two figures, including one of imposing stature entered the dwelling, which immediately started shaking with convulsive movements that barely gave a hint of what was happening under its cloth. 

 After a few minutes the two veiled figures left the tent, they then joined the other two that had waited outside it and the four angels of vengeance vanished toward the point where they had left the horses. The mantle of silence of the sleeping savannah covered their elusive tracks. 

 

 In the morning the chief aide entered Abboud al Kader´s regal tent showing an obviously altered expression in his face. The emir woke up at the noise and instinctively took the dagger he always kept under his pillow but immediately dropped as he recognized his henchman. 

 “What happens Yussuf?” 

 “Emir, You should come see this.” 

 “Is it Ahmed?” 

 The man named Yussuf nodded. Abboud dressed slowly anticipating what he supposed had happened while he planned what he would tell his subjects.
