The little blue Corvette idles on the street in front of Cosmo's Comics & Café, but I'm reluctant to get out. The fog's already lifted from the city and temperatures are above fifty-five. It's set to become a beautiful day in the Bay. I have three spectacular friends waiting inside on plush couches with a sugary breakfast of French toast smothered with caramel and chocolate. Four months ago I'd be out of the car by now. Today my feet won't move in their direction. I love my friends, but there's someone better beside me.

"You'll call me when you girls finish for the day, right?" Ryland turns on the hazard lights, the little dings with each blink filling in our silence.

I blow out a breath against the window, fogging up a small area, which quickly disappears. "Yeah."

"You're going to be late."

Aspen texted me last night with news she had a surprise for us this morning. I don't like surprises. At least surprises I don't know about in advance. "We could go back to your place and play DR." I try to tempt him to drive away.

"Is everything okay?" he asks, not taking me up on the offer.

"Yeah." More condensation builds on the window only to dissipate as fast.

Ryland leans over placing a hand on the back of my neck, his fingers caught in a few strands of hair. "You love your girl time on Sundays. Since Aspen took over Cosmo's we men have been relegated to Finn's place."

"Well she wasn't allowed to have all of us over at one time per her old rules, so really that's your fault." I laugh and put my hand on the door handle, the closest I've come to leaving. "And don't let Finn fool you. The guys hang out at Cosmo's on Sunday mornings every once and a while. He just doesn't want to get out of his pajamas this early most weekends." I totally understand.

"That sounds like Finn." He pulls me closer. "Go enjoy the nice couches and gossip, but no pillow fights or whatever else you girls might do together. You'll give the nerds heart attacks."

"Okay." I shake my head a few times at him. "I'll make sure to let Aspen know our clothes have to stay on this week."

I close the distance between us expecting a quick peck on the lips, but Ryland pulls me toward him. My heart picks up and I fist the fabric of his white shirt stopping any retreat. He bites my lower lip as he pulls away, his lips tipped up smiling down at me before he lets go.

It's the sendoff I needed. "Saucy, Tiger." I release his shirt and pat it down, and then I open the door and step out to the sidewalk before I change my mind.

I refuse to stand on the street and watch him drive away, so once his hazard lights shut off, I turn and walk into Cosmo's.

The comic shop we've spent Sundays at since the weather turned too cold for Aspen is bright and airy for the small space it encompasses. The smell of coffee permeates the area. Exposed brick lines both walls, a large window and front door taking up the space at the entrance. To the left running most of the way along, there's a checkout and section for customers to order coffee and other hot drinks. The right wall's filled with metal shelving to display the comic book dolls and other boxed items. The middle of the store toward the front is stacked full of tall white box structures holding hundreds, maybe thousands, of various comics separated out by maker and then series.

Most of these areas are easy to overlook, but the back of the room draws my attention. Along the back wall, a few feet from a door marked employees only, three thick orange-ish colored couches form a half circle with a thick coffee table placed in the middle.

Tucked away from the two customers pawing through the stacks of comics wait Aspen, Amanda, and Simone as I suspected. Each claimed a couch as their own and I throw myself down on the opposite end of Aspen's. Her thick winter coat fills the empty space between us and I remove my purple San Francisco fleece and lay it on top.

"The next time you two try to make a porno on the street, let me know. I bet I'd make millions if I posted it online." She reaches to the coffee table and grabs a green mug, passing it to my waiting hand.

I breathe across the top to help cool the coffee with the one sugar she knows I need. "You saw, huh?"

"The whole street saw." Simone's eyes widen and she pulls on her blue sweater pretending to cool down. "It was hot."

Trey's right. We've definitely corrupted his sweet and innocent woman. I'm kind of proud how quickly it happened.

"So you two are like... a thing now... officially? A PDA kind of couple?" Aspen watches my face for any hint of a lie, but it's wasted effort. I'm not going to even try.

I pull out my cell phone. "Yes."

"Yes? That's all you have for us?" Amanda asks.

"Don't worry. She'll slip sooner or later and then we'll get our answers." Aspen answers for me pulling up one of the free comic books Jason, the store owner, leaves on the coffee table. She feigns interest in whoever the big green guy is fighting this edition.

She drops the comic within a minute and the conversation flows to important topics, such as why the food delivery is late and her weekly Finn update. He's still a nerd and they're grossly in love.

When nothing exciting comes up, even when Amanda shares her latest dating story, I reach for my phone out of habit and end up texting Ryland.

Me: You need tinted windows.

His response is almost immediate.

Ryland: I'll get right on that, Kitten.

I start to text back my standard complaint to not call me Kitten, the reply as much a part of our standard conversation as the nickname, but Aspen perks up and I draw my attention to where she stares out the large glass front window.

"Oh, good the food's here." Aspen tracks a guy as he walks past the front and opens the door.

My mouth started salivating before I walked in this morning and I've been impatiently waiting for someone to feed me since I sat down. Monday through Saturday I'm iffy on the whole breakfast meal, but Sundays... Sundays are the day where we call it brunch and use it as an excuse to stuff our faces with sugary goodness. Most weekends the promise of Tahiti French toast is the one reason I get out of bed.

Emma is a very smart, yet shy little girl. Although she has the freedom most kids dream of, she chooses to mostly stay inside. After her household chores, she enjoys watching all types of shows and movies, but most of all, anime. The characters and storylines are different than regular cartoons. Growing older she continued to grow her love for anime and even began learning Japanese as well as Spanish and French. The other two languages were just because they caught her attention and she had plenty of time to learn them.
Seeing how responsible and mature their daughter is, despite being just a young child they began to give her an allowance twice a month, showing her how to manage a budget. On Emma's  10th birthday, they decided to give her a laptop. Emma was super excited! She now not only didn't have to go to the library so often to check out linguistic books, but she could also look into Cosplaying. Her friends have told her about people of all ages dressing up as their favorite anime or cartoon character and going to different events such as comic cons. Now she had the opportunity to check them out herself while in the comfort of her own home.
Constantly online, downloading, uploading, watching, learning, Emma soaked in every bit of information she could regarding cosplaying and comic con events. She even found out about comic cons that are open to the public in her own town. When she came across her town name in the list of places that hold comic cons, she was in a daze. Thinking back on it her friends did try to bring her to one a while ago, but of course, she refused just like every other time to hang out. Honestly, it is amazing how Nancy and Brittany were able to befriend her and keep their friendship going.
Thinking of her only friends and how they have talked about going to these cosplaying events, as well as seeing videos where people dress as the opposite sex, was slowly stirring something inside of her. Soon after those thoughts, she began spending countless hours searching the best places to purchase cosplaying items, how to do make-up, and even…..even came across a few videos in regards to how to use a chest bind. Her friends were surprised but super excited that their introverted friend finally agreed to hang out with them outside of school. Nancy and Brittany would often be at Emma's house, mostly on weekends, searching and planning what to wear to the comic con events and which events to go to.
Despite her parents constantly working away from home, they still took time out to call her frequently and visit every few months. As Emma grew older her parents still called frequently, but visited less, at least once a year, allowing her more free time for cosplay. Being used to taking care of the house and herself at a young age, she had plenty of time for her studies as well as her hobbies.

By the time Emma and her friends began high school, they had been to multiple comic con events. Due to budgeting her allowance money and practicing with her friends, Emma was not only able to purchase high-end costumes and wigs but was able to learn how to act. When she put on her characters' costumes, she would become that character, leaving the shy introvert she is in the shadows of her characters. Even being fluent in different languages helped her since she was able to change her voice or accent when she spoke to match her character. Brittnay and Nancy were amazed though at how different Emma became when she put on her outfits. Each and every character she played came to life.
She had gotten down the tricks of the trade and became the belle of the ball or should I say prince in shining armor as she mostly took on male characters and nailed her character each time. She didn't mind dressing as a female character, but most times female characters' costumes would come with so much extra that needed to be done or nothing at all since the costume would be showing off the whole body, minus the private areas, barely. Plus not only being easier to manage, but dressing as a male would lessen the chance of someone recognizing her, so she thought.

Carl POV
It's Monday and I don't get enough sleep last night because of printing some forms and making us a poster for the club
It's 7:10 am no classes because we have 2 days to recruit some members for our clubs. Of course  you know what club I'm in, the two girls at the cafe called me the handsome painter right?
"You can pin your poster at the pin board" the vice president of student council said
"Your club's rooms is at the 2nd floor, room 13" he added. I thanks him and pinned the poster before I go to the club's room
Now I'm here the room is huge and only 5 chairs and one long table are in here, this might be the old room of music  club
"Carl!" I know this girl
"I'll join!" she said
"I know, I know" I said and gave her a form. She is the former club president but when I transferred she's annoying me and following me until I became the club president
"Carl be the club president!!" -at the canteen
"Please!!" -at the doors of men's restroom
"You got some talents!!" -at my room
"You're better than meee" -at the bus stop
*end of flashback*
"A transfer wants to join too, she'll come here soon" she said and gave the form to me
"Y-yeah" I looked  at the door and  she might be the girl Ynah's talking about and she's beautiful, short hair and  it's dark red
"I'm Irina, nice to meet you!!" she greeted us and bowed
"I'm Carl" I introduced myself
"Here" Ynah gave her the form and a pen. After that I told them to find members outside and gave them some forms
A minutes later, a two girls entered the club room
"U-uhm, can we join?" the girl asked
"Y-yes! Of course!" I answered with a smile and gave them forms. After they're finish they gave them back to me, so Kacey and Zerina?
"Can you help us recruiting members?" I asked them and they said yes so I also gave them some forms
A few minutes a 6 students came to the room, this will end fast huh?
"Gil" the man at the front introduced himself
"You can past you forms to me hehe" I said and  the 6 of them did it
We're already 18 including me and the 4 girls who's recruiting outside, this might be enough
"Gil, can you call the girls outside?" I asked Gil and he ran right away
When the girls came I stood up
"Let's end the recruiting here because we can only have 25  members, so we will leave some space for more members" I explained
"I'm Carl, grade 10, the president of arts club. Ynah is vice president and she's grade 11. I want Irina to be secretary and  Gil as treasurer. Are you okay with that, Irina and Gil?" I asked them and  they both said yes
"No club tomorrow but Wednesday there'll be a meeting after class, don't be late" I said and let them leave except for the officers
"Come here tomorrow, we'll get the things that belongs to arts club but we will not display them yet" I said and locked  the door  of our club's room
Now I'm eating at the canteen. Kai and the others are not here, they might be busy. Kai is at the cooking club for free foods, big tums. Tres is at the manga club with his girlfriend and Aldrin is in Volleyball and Music club
"Can I join you?" Aries asked, damn this person is popping everywhere
"You're already sitting in front of me"
"Hehe"
"You're done already?" I asked him
"Yeah"
"Of course you're fame"
"No. you are. Want some?" he asked and feed me some french fries
"No I'm not"
"You're known as The handsome painter so you're fame" he said and  feed me some french fries again
"That reminds me, why are they calling you the handsome painter?" he asked
"Cause when I was at Los Angeles I tried to write a comic then it went little fame there. But when my one friend said I'm the one who created  the famous comic they started to call me "The handsome author"."
"Then my Father want me to study here in San Francisco it's just right cause my comics  are not fame here. But when some visitors came here  they're calling me handsome author again that's why San Francisco do it too but author into painter" I told him
"Famous comics? I kinda' heard that" he said and started to think
"My high school love?" I was shocked when he said that cause it's 3 years ago when I create comics like
"Then you're Shiranai?" he asked
"Y-yeah"

Aries is famous in their campus for being a handsome looking guitarist and of course a nice voice. But from being calm and don't care Aries he changed since Carl transferred. Apparently is a love at first sight but because of being shy he didn't confess his feelings to Carl. A new school year started and Aries decided to forget Carl but since he bump into Carl at a bar he decided to not confess his feelings by words, but by actions.

       "And this is our base of operation." I said to Dai, gesturing around the apartment that Robyn had asked her dad to rent.

      "So, this is it?" He ask, a skeptical look on his face as he look around the room.

    "No, there is a gym on the other side of that door." I pointed to a door on the left side of the room, and the bathroom is the door next to it." I gave him a grand tour.

    "So this is it." He has a expression on his face that I can't read.

    "Yea, why do you have that look on your face?" I narrow my eyes at him.

 He gave me an are you kidding me look. "Seriously Miayana, you call this your base of operation? Have you never read a comic book? Where are the monitors, where are the equipments. This place sucks." 

 I roll my eyes at him, and place my hand on my hips. "First of all, this isn't a comic book it's real life. And second, I don't have the money to get all of those things." I sign sitting down on one of the two chairs in the apartment.


      "If money is an issue, I can help you out if you want." Dai offered.

      "What, no Dai..Could not ask that of you. We just met, and I should be your big sister. I should be taking care of you."

    "Hey, it's no biggy. And plus it's our dad's money, and I am apart of the team now. So I have all right to make this place look like a real base of operation." Dai said with a cheeky laugh.

    "You won't back down won't You?"

       "Nope. I am told that I got my stubbornness from my dad." Dai said pulling out his phone out of his bag pack.


       "I heard he was a stubborn man and I inherit it from him too." I laugh.


      Five minutes have passed and Dai finally finish with his phone call.

     "So I just came off the phone with our father, and he just raise my allowance."

I laugh humorlessly. "Dai, I don't think your allowance can equip this place with servallance camera and what not."

     "Oh sweet Mia, how much do you think I get for my allowance?" He said cocky smile.

     "50 dollars a month."

 He laugh a boisterous laugh. "50 dollars a month, oh my God you crack me up. No my dear, for my allowance which I get weekly I may add, is 100 dollars. And now that it has been raise, I will be receiving 100 dollars extra. Which add up to two hundred dollars." 

  My mouth drop open, can't believe what I just heard. Wow, I guess he is well off. 

      "So that can more than get this place started up." Dai look at me, his eyes burning with hope and something else.

      "Yea, but Robyn and I will chip in also." Just then we heard the front door to the apartment open. We turn to it and saw Robyn entering with a whole lot of take out bags in her hand.


      "Ah, a little help her." She look at us.

Dai and i briskly walk over to her and took some of the bags placing it on the coffee table.

    "So what with all the take out?" I ask her, enjoying the wonderful smells coming from the bags.

     "Aren't you all hungry, and plus. I had some free coupon." Robyn replied. 'And I couldn't decided what I wanted to after stalking Jax Holt the entire morning.' She thought.

Oh, so she was chasing the a guy. Time to have a little fun. "So, who is Jax Holt? And why were you stalking him?" I causally ask, taking out a container with sushi. 

She choke on a french fry she was eating, and started to cough uncontrollable. "I don't know what you are talking about." She denied in between coughs.

    "Oh come on Robyn, you know you can not lie to me. Or Dai for that matter, so spill the deets." I said taking a bite from my sushi.

  Her mouth open  and close before she glare playfully at me and then Dai. 

     "Hey get out of my head, and you stop reading me like a book." She pointed from me to Dai, who has his face stuffed with Thai noodles.

     "Hmmm?" Dai ask confusingly.

     "Robyn had been chasing a guy for the whole entire morning, that s why she has so many take outs." I fill Dai in on the info.

Noodles fall from Dai' s mouth ask he look up at Robyn with a smirk. "Oh Robyn, I never peg you as a stalker. Surely you know that he just broke up with his girlfriend of two years." 

Robyn look at me with a questioning look, and I shrug.
"H-how do you know that?" Robyn ask.

Dai rolled his eyes at us. "Haven't you guys listen to anything I said since I met you all. I can read people, I just take one look at you, then I saw him through your eyes. And I the break up was pretty clear. By the way, he has nice eyes." Dai went back to his noodles, and I look at him with interest.

    "He does have nice eyes, there are crystal blue with a touch of grey." Robyn stated with a dreamy sigh.  Nibbling on another french fry.

 The atmosphere settle in a quiet comfortable silence before I decided to break it.

     "So Dai,"

     "Yes?" He answered, wiping bbq sauce from his mouth.
     "Can you read me like how you did Robyn?" I sturr my fish tea around the container nervously. And the cocky smile Dai has on his face isn't helping.

      "Yes I can. See I told you that you guys weren't listening." Dai shake his head.

    "Noted." Robyn laugh, earning as glare from Dai. Who then started to cackle.

      "But it's not as easy as reading Robyn and anyone else. I have to concentrate really hard. it doesn't flow that easily."

    "That is still unfair." I whine. You can read me, but I can't read your thoughts."

Dai grins at me. "But for what it's worth, I can't  get premonitions about you. Just like how I can't get them with dad. So if you are going to be in danger, I can't help you." 

I smile at him, and he smile back. I never told Dai this. But I am happy that he found me, we are  so much a like in many way it just makes me feel content and happy inside. I Robyn, she is my bestie, and I wouldn't have reach this far in this past month without her.
I look around at the two people I have come to trust the most, and smile. I could not have ask for a better way to start of my day, then eating multiple different types of take out meal with my two awesome team members. Or are we partners. Anyhow, what ever it is, I am glad that I am here with them. What could ever go wrong.


     Meanwhile across the city in a warehouse that looks abondan, is a underground secret laboratory. Two men sat at around a iron desk, looking at two monitors. You can barely see their face, even though the monitors light illuminated the room.

    "Daison Hesketh thinks that we couldn't find him, or that he was the only source. But now problem, because we have his children right where we want them." One of the guy said. "And they are ready, just waiting to be plucked.



     









This story is about a girl, she was always labelled the Villian. Even when she was just trying to help. No one ever considered what she was feeling inside, until one day. She couldn't keep it all inside, and she just burst. It was like time has frozen, and she woke up with an extraordinary gift. With her training in the martial arts and combat fighting, she channel her powers to become one of the greatest heroes ever lived.

After a brisk walk at the park, Peter Jackson eventually stopped over a corner to buy the daily newspaper, Le Sommiel. The headline was about a terrorist attack at Paris. "1,000 deaths during Paris terrorist attack". He scanned through the pages and reached to the sports section. Nothing was interesting but football, but his team lost. Saddened by the news, he turned to the end of the paper and read a few lines of a comic strip, tried to guess the words and arranged it mentally on his image to fit the boxes of a crossword puzzle. The mental image of the front page bothered him and he then made a sudden reaction. "I need to leave!"


The woman behind him, holding a pitbull, suddenly looked at him, puzzled. "Can I pass? You're blocking my way." There was no reaction from Peter but standing still with his arms flexed. "Excuse me, Can you please let me have the newspaper too?" 

Peter replied in a blank stare "Ok, Ma'am" as he moved to the left, leaning to the light stand with his right hand pushing against it.

"There are terrorists!" He added.

"I heard you, Sir Peter Jackson." announced in a monotone voice coming from a 2×2 mobile phone on speaker mode attached  on his chest vest.

As the woman got the newspaper and said something french to the kiosk attendant, two 6-inches tall male in black uniform approached Peter. "Sir, we need you to come with us."

Peter then put back the newspaper to the kiosk and followed the two uniformed men to the Mercedez benz SUV.

"Your flight is at 6pm. We need you to take your luggage prepared for your flight at ******** hotel." 
A note was posted on the front of a notebook given to him by one of the uniformed man.

The SUV went on to the trainstation at Metro 3, and another passenger went in at a full stop.

"I'm glad you're going to the airport, Sir Koufghani. Finally, you made it on time and just here with us, is Peter Jackson." The driver made a sudden open gesture to look at the backseat with his hands on the back of the front row seat. "We need to rush, put on your seatbelt, the police is on their way."

"Peter, I will have to get that notebook. I am one of the officers in charge for an assignment here but due to the terrorist attack, my team got dissembled. I still need to look for each one and see if they were kidnapped or there was a technology bug that disrupted our communication signals. Can you look for the code reference of your booking? Here, use my phone. If the power ran out, you can charge it by the receptionist and leave it there for me to collect afterwards. You need to confirm your details and get a seat on the aisle. A woman in red with a light maroon scarf will talk to you and please pretend you are hitting on her. She will slap you and call for the flight attendant's attention. The moment, one of the blonde flight attendants speaks french with you, say, Oui. She will give you a notice and write down your room number. Change your hotel. Write down the code. She will know what to do afterwards."

Peter handed the notebook to Koufghani. Silent, he flipped a few pages and then, boxed him on the face. Koufghani, evaded the punch. He grabbed Peter's hand and again, shouted, "You fool! I'm the one hired for your bachelor's party."

Grandpa Sheng stared at him in bewilderment, but there was nothing the old man could do.
When his grandson got stubborn, no one in this world could change his mind.

Sheng Yize left the hospital a few days later and went back home.
He went back to that apartment on his own.
The rooms were spotless. An Xiaxia had only been here a few times, but everywhere he turned, he saw traces of her.
A pair of pink bunny slippers lay in the hallway, her pajamas and dresses hung in the closet, and the fridge was filled with the snacks she liked… She had stuck the remote control under a sofa cushion and left a stack of her favorite comic books on the straw mat by the French windows, and there were still a few calligraphy copybooks in the study, which he had been making her practice her handwriting with… 
Sheng Yize wanted to smash all of these things to pieces. He had already raised his hand, but put it back down again.
He changed nothing in the room, pretending that An Xiaxia still lived here. He replaced the snacks in the fridge regularly and put the comic books on the bookshelf when new issues came out. Everything that used to belong to her was still placed next to his things, as if the two of them were still as close as ever.
He grew used to this self-deceiving life after a while. His heart seemed to have gone numb from the constant pain and he began to feel nothing. He was no longer moved by anything.
It was just a woman. How important could she have been?
However, that woman was precisely the only irreplaceable being in his life.
She had once given him heartwarmingly beautiful love and her bright smile had lit up his world. She had made him feel like the luckiest man in the world.
Thank you for letting me down.
All the content and delight she had shown him had now become the most unbearable pain when he slept alone at night.

Everyone began to think that Sheng Yize couldn't care less about his ex-girlfriend, for he was as rakish as ever. Whenever the subject was brought up, he would only retort calmly, "Do I have an ex-girlfriend?"
After a while, people stopped asking.
Only he himself knew that he had hidden that person in the most inaccessible corner of his heart.
No one else knew.
Qi Yanxi went to visit An Xiaxia during the Spring Festival.
The two of them began to build a snowman outside. After making a snowball, Qi Yanxi grumbled, "Is your brother abusing you? I haven't seen you for like a month and your face is half the size of what it used to be!"
"Why is that a bad thing… All girls want to be slim." An Xiaxia grinned. Her cheeks had turned red in the cold wind, making her look like one of those cherubic kids in Spring Festival pictures.
That woke the mischievous side of Qi Yanxi. Taking her face in his hands, he began to squeeze her cheeks.
His hands were as cold as stone, which made An Xiaxia shriek.
"Gosh! Let go of me!" An Xiaxia struggled.
Qi Yanxi pushed his palms inward, squeezing An Xiaxia's mouth into a pout. At the sight of the glistening pink lips he had longed for all this time, he couldn't help but swallow.
"You're single now. Will you fall in love with me if I start doing some unspeakable things to you now?" Qi Yanxi asked out of the blue.
An Xiaxia grumbled, "Flower Qi! I dare you to fight me in the game online!"
Qi Yanxi snorted. "You know I'm not your match… Ssss, why am I getting goosebumps?"
He turned around, but only saw a few kids throwing snowballs at one another.
It was probably just in his head.
"There! Gimme a kiss!" Qi Yanxi stuck out his lips and moved closer. An Xiaxia was so vexed that she closed her eyes.
Something cool then landed on her forehead. Qi Yanxi gave her a peck on her smooth forehead, smacked his lips, and said in a defeated tone, "Damn it… You just keep reminding me of Sheng Yize. Come to think of it, Sheng Yize must have kissed you before. So would I be kissing him indirectly if I kiss you on the mouth?"


As an anti-fan of the idol group, Starry Night, An Xiaxia is happy to spend her time online slandering lead singer Sheng Yize.
