Most of us have had to deal with a computer virus or some sort of malware by now. It wasn't fun; it was annoying, time consuming, and very frustrating.
Install Anti-Virus/Malware Software.
This tip may go without saying, and I almost just casually mentioned it in my opening paragraph. However, I have seen many computers—especially home computers—that don't have anti-virus/malware protection. This protection is a must-have first step in keeping you computer virus free.
Keep Your Anti-Virus Software Up to Date
Having protection software is the first step; maintaining it is the second. Free anti-virus software is better than nothing, but keep in mind that it's not the best solution. Microsoft does provide a security package for "free." It's free in that if you have Windows on your machine, you are granted access, but you did pay for your Windows license. Many users aren't aware of this program, but it's actually decent protection.
Keep Your Operating System Current.
Whether you are running Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, or any other OS, keep it up to date. OS developers are always issuing security patches that fix and plug security leaks. These patches will help to keep your system secure. Similarly, keep your anti-virus software up to date. Viruses and malware are created all the time. Your scanning software is only as good as its database. It too must be as up to date as possible.

"I think we need to reassess our understanding of their strategy…"
"Hmm… What exactly are they up to?"
When Doomsday Assault and Final Assault came across the partially undressed headless body and the pulp of meat that was not far away, they were overwhelmed by panicked confusion. Doomsday Assault asked, "If the human head earlier was to scare us, what is the purpose of all this?"
"Do you think it's possible that…" Final Assault's tone started to assume a weird change. "… after they decapitated the man, they split up temporarily? Flashes of Sword carried the man's head back to place it where we found it, and the other…"
He paused to glance at the menu. "… called Feng Bujue stayed behind and did something to this dead body?"
"Is the man insane?" Doomsday Assault questioned. "But didn't Thriller Paradise set some kind of limitation to actions that desecrate dead bodies. What could he have done?"
"How would I know?" Final Assault replied. "I'm just attempting a guess. Perhaps we've misunderstood everything. They were probably being very thorough when they searched the body."
"I hope you're right…" Doomsday Assault swallowed his saliva. These two from Zombie Blade felt great terror looming over their hearts. This cast a bigger shadow on them compared to when they saw the decapitated head.
But their expressions were as unaffected as before, and that could be explained by 'that medicine' that they mentioned…
As Flashes of Sword had said, the members of Zombie Blade were known to cheat. It was too far to call them the cancer within the industry. They merely had their own way of approaching things.
In the film industry, for example, an unknown scriptwriter could have spent more than ten years to write his script and find sponsor before finally producing a product, and the film might gross about five times his investment.
But for another scriptwriter who had some connections, he could spend several months coming up with a passable script, finding a few famous actors to be in his movie, and coming up with a topic-worthy promotion to get the people into the cinema. Similarly, he would be able to earn quite a bit from the box office.
The profit earned by these two would be the same in the end, the difference being that the former might garner some reputation while the latter would be overwhelmed by negative reviews. Ultimately, though, human beings are forgetful creatures. When the former disappeared from the public eye to focus on his writing, the later would continue to produce similarly horrible films every year, but he would end up with the same amount of income each year.
This example could be used in any other industry. In this world, to achieve a goal, there was more than one way to do it. In fact, after one removed the manacle of morality or principles, the choices opened up even more.
Zombie Blade gaming studio had provided immense contributions to the gray area of online gaming. Speaking of finding loopholes and exploitable bugs, they were even more of an expert compared to bigger names like Brahman. Of course, even though this was what Zombie Blade specialized in, they still lagged behind Regulation. After all, Regulation was the top dog in the industry, and a studio that depended on alternative methods like Zombie Blade could not be counted as the top in the industry.
However, they managed to flourish in their own way. To be frank, everyone's goal was earning money. Reputation, what was that? This world was a realistic one. As long as there was money, there would naturally be people who came to ask for one's service.
The players and workers at Zombie Blade did not even have a contract with the studio. Instead, most of them signed the cooperation through a third party, so when there was a legal altercation, it would be easier to push the blame around. At worst, the company would dissolve, and they would rise again under a different name.
If they were already doing that in the real world, one could imagine how much worse they were in-game. Zombie Blade had a team that specialized in writing cheats. In most of the games that they had been involved in, they even sold the cheats to other players.
In such 'exhaustible' games, they did not mind if their accounts were banned. Since most of such games were free to play and pay to win, the gaming company's goal was to earn as much money before the hype blew over. Therefore, they did not limit IDs from registering accounts, and one person could register many accounts. Thus, being banned was merely a formality because they could register a new account easily. One could easily understand the players' psychology; they wanted to have the most fun and win the most battles. For that, the way to do it was to throw money against other players. Instead of wasting the money on the gaming company, they might as well they spend it on cheats. It brought the same amount of fun, and the money spent would be less than purchasing those limited equipment and items. They could stop whenever they felt bored.
However, in the age of the fourth photon computer, it was hard to evade discovery when using cheats. Even with the attachment of undetectable, illegal hardware, that was hard to do. As long as the gaming company and the game itself were not too trashy, cheating would eventually be discovered.
For that, Zombie Blade came up with other methods. They turned to research some illegal assistant 'software'. These kinds of software had the same purpose as cheats, but they were more like assistants in nature. For top players, they would provide little to no effect, but for normal players, the use of such tools would provide immense advantages.
Other than that, Zombie Blade had no care about their studio's reputation, which was dropping by the day, and often committed horrible acts against their competitors. Of course, they would not go after big names like Regulation and Brahman; they still knew their limits. However, against studios that were on the same scale as them, they would not hold back. Spreading untrue rumors, attacking other people's servers, those were common occurrences for them, and they had destroyed a few competition this way before.
In conclusion, those people were professional, and they had carved out a path for themselves with their own unique way of surviving.
But as the idiom goes, as high as the squirrel jumps, one day, it will fall to the ground.
Zombie Blade finally found their match in a gaming company… and the game in question was Thriller Paradise.
The game's system was flawless, and they could not cheat at all on a technical level. Therefore, they organized a secret DDOS attack on Dream Inc's server to see how powerful they were.
And… they were burned. Zombie Blade not only failed to take down Dream Inc's firewall, Dream Inc retaliated. An unknown virus leaped across numerous fake IPs and puppet CPUs to infect and destroy Zombie Blade's system.
That day, on the computers in the company building, there was a round cartoon face. It was a dirty-looking man with glasses making a mischievous laugh. "Hue hue hue…"
All the data in their hard drive was wiped, and the loss was unimaginably huge. They did not only lose their limbs—their spine was snapped.
That day, the laptop on the director's table even exploded. He had only seen something like this in the movies before. An FBI-level hacker remote-controlled the enemy's laptop to overheat its hardware and cause it to explode. He did not expect that he would be the target of such an attack in his life.
Since they were the aggressor, the members of Zombie Blade could only suffer the grievance in silence, and they did not dare scheme against Dream Inc anymore…
Then, Zombie Blade's hardware development team reached a bottleneck as well. They had tried all types of illegal attachments, but they were useless on Dream Inc's gaming hub. The technical issue was undetectable. Even if they dismantled the gaming hub, they got no closer to the truth.
This situation had not happened before. With so many technicians, they had failed to even come up with some small cheats in an online game! Was that even reasonable? Was Dream Inc secretly the country's defense agency?
Therefore, the members united their passion to break down this wall. After many meetings and a lot of research, they finally came up with the solution. Since they could not do anything to the game, they would work on the player.
'PU63' was the code for the medicine. What happened during the process of researching PU01 to PU62, no one knew. In any case, PU63 became the only advantage that Zombie Blade had in Thriller Paradise.
The complicated relationship that Zombie Blade had with a certain heartless pharmaceutical company is a topic for another time.
In any case, after a player consumed this medicine, they would enter a state called 'lucid anesthesia'. This oxymoron was actually easy to understand. One could see it as a 'state of forced calmness'.
All the research data showed that players who consumed PU63 would never have their Terror Points rise over fifty percent even in the most distressing part of the scenario. The medicine would not affect their mental acuity and would even increase their resistance toward pain and their reflexes in emergencies.
To put it plainly, this was a type of steroid given to players.
The gaming hub merely tested the player's heartbeat, pulse, and blood pressure. It did not contain the power to check for medical element, so they could use this kind of drug without worry.
Currently, only the inner members of Zombie Blade were using PU63. They were not prepared to sell this drug to the public even though the advertisement and promotion were being made already. In the next two months, this thing would probably appear on the third-party market, but that was a matter for later.
Anyhow, the duo's confidence was not baseless. With the aid of the medicine, even though they would still feel fear, the level would be dampened, at least physiologically.
With this kind of advantage and the level advantage in-game, it was normal for them to assume that they would win.
"Wait… What is that?" Final Assault said as he squatted down again. His eyes focused and discovered that there was some kind of trail on the man's tank top, which was half lifted up.
Doomsday Assault also got closer to take a look.
Final Assault lifted the shirt to get a clearer look. Just above the dead body's stomach, a sentence was carved deep into the flesh.
"Why so serious?" Doomsday Assault read the sentence and then turned to ask his teammate, "What's the meaning of this?"
"This is…" Final Assault was confused as well. Suddenly, he noticed that, around the question mark of the sentence, a metallic wire was poking out from underneath the skin. He reached out his fingers to pick at the wire, attempting to pull it out…
…
BANG!
At the same time, on the other side of the lab, Feng Bujue heard the explosion. He glanced at the menu and sighed rather disappointedly. "Sigh… we only got one…"

Feng Bujue lost his ability to fear because of an unknown psychological disorder. Through a virtual reality game designed for players to experience fright and despair, he began his search for his lost fear. Could he finally regain his ability to fear? Could he outwit the scenarios presented to him? Could he finally uncover the truth hidden inside Thriller Paradise?  


Scarlet fidgeted in her chair as Debbie flipped through the printed manuscript. For a ten-year-old with no prior writing experience, the story was quite well written. It strangely reminded her of an old animated movie[1] that she personally found to be quite adorable.
Scarlet had a rather pure imagination and it was a pleasure to read it despite the grammatical issues here and there. The girl must have read many books for she was using many phrases she picked up that seemed a little too cliched for a piece of original work. If it was a school assignment to be graded, Debbie would not have hesitated to give her an A+ and send her home with a lollipop. Unfortunately, the girl wanted to be a professional writer. That meant that being good simply wasn't enough.
The tutor-governess looked up from the script and observed the puny creature before her and adjusted her glasses. Scarlet looked very nervous and even a little afraid. This took the ex-lawyer back to her teenage years when she was nothing more than a snotty brat who was only embarking on her journey to fame and freedom as an author. After many turns and tumbles, Debbie came to understand that the path of writing was more than fame and riches. It was difficult for one person to continuously seek out new experiences and inspiration to bring to the world authentic ideas without having everything sound almost exactly the same. As such, Debbie decided to leave her writing days behind as a memory that blazed with passion. The fire in her author heart was then channelled to become fertiliser for those who had grander ideas than hers. Debbie decided to become an editor for that very purpose.
"Hello Scarlet, I've heard a little about you from Mr Wilde. Won't you tell me more about yourself? I'm a little curious. Why would such a young girl like yourself be interested in such a boring hobby? Most kids your age would be more interested in sports or art or music... Some would prefer making friends and having fun instead of being cooped up in a room in front of a computer with additional self-imposed assignments to do. I don't know many children who would use the computer other than for assignment researching and gaming. You're the first child I know who wants to be a writer..."
The blogger blinked and looked at her hands. It was true. Most children would prefer doing other things. Even Alex preferred holding a paintbrush to a pen if she had a choice. Jasper was far more interested in the software applications on the computer than games, but Scarlet was only interested in the word document whenever she touched a laptop. Perhaps in the eyes of an adult, she was weird for having such a boring hobby.
"I just like reading and writing helps me get some of the things I couldn't say off my chest. I don't know who I can tell or talk to, but I just wish that someone in this big world can pick it up and read what I have to say. I'm not very good at communication..."
The editor put the script down and looked at the girl with seriousness. No wonder Wilmer was so worried about her. "Is there something you'd like to talk about then? I can listen to what you have to say..." she offered.
The feeling of having nobody to talk to about problems can really eat away at one's happiness. For a girl as young and as intelligent as Scarlet, this must be a really heavy burden to bear alone. Debbie didn't know what happened to Scarlet for her to be so guarded, but she heard bits and pieces of Scarlet's background from the CEO. The governess could only imagine what was going through this sweet child's mind while it all happened.
Scarlet made no attempt to say more and had her eyes downcast the whole time as if she was afraid of making eye contact. Debbie took the cue and didn't push any further. Instead, she changed her approach.
Scarlet was tense when Debbie reached for her bag. She didn't know what her tutor wanted when she took out a new notebook that had never been used before. The governess didn't say much as she pushed it across the table to Scarlet.
"I need time to read through the story you've written but I don't want you to be idle. This is going to be our secret communication diary, I hope you can take good care of it. I have approximately about another hour or so today so while I am reading through your manuscript, I would like you to decorate the journal and write the very first entry inside."
Scarlet took the notebook and looked at it. The book was a very common and relatively cheap kind that can be bought at any bookstore. There were single lined pages on the inside and it wasn't very thick, so Scarlet could easily carry it around in her school bag. The blogger vaguely remembered using notebooks like this back when she was in Keyman International for penmanship classes. Her teacher used to call it a Jotter Book. But the one Debbie passed her looked slightly nicer. It had a blank cover page made out of recycled pulp and had a lovely rough texture to the brown colour. It was clearly a product made by a company that believed in recycling. That gave Scarlet an inspiration and she asked permission to leave the room in search of decoration materials.
While Debbie appeared neutral on the surface, she was internally ecstatic about Scarlet's willingness to participate in the communication book. The tutor nodded and Scarlet hopped off her chair to find Claire. The penthouse might not have the materials she needed, but that shouldn't be a problem. Alex was quite the artist, so she could borrow the glue and colouring supplies she needed later.
"Claire," Scarlet knocked on the door to the kitchen. The maid was busy preparing ingredients for dinner when she heard a soft voice from the doorway.
"Hello Scarlet, how can I assist you?" the head maid quickly put away the carrots for the chef who was coming in ten minutes. It was rare for Scarlet to request anything from her so the head maid was slightly curious.
"Can I go downstairs for a little? I'll be back. This is for my classwork now with Ms Connor."
Claire was a little surprised. What kind of classwork would require Scarlet to go downstairs? 
"Why do you need to go downstairs? What kind of classwork has Ms Connor given you?"
Scarlet blushed a little and played with the end of her long side braid. "It's something I wanted to do, it's not really necessary. If it's too troublesome then I'll find another way to get it done. I'm sorry for disturbing you while you're very busy..."
Claire quickly denied it and held the girl by her hands before kneeling down to look at Scarlet who had her eyes to the floor.
"Look at me, Scarlet. I'm not angry or annoyed. I can make time for it, don't worry too much. I was just curious as to what kind of assignment it was. You don't usually enjoy going outside after all..."
Scarlet stole a peek at the serious maid's expression and looked around a little before leaning in to whisper her plans.
Claire smiled and ruffled the blogger's hair when she heard that. "I see. In that case, I shall have Sue or Tina to accompany you. I will also inform Mr Wilde about it just in case, if it's alright with you."
Scarlet brightened up at that and nodded before leaving to find her outdoor shoes. Claire watched the girl run off and reached for her phone. This new governess was making big waves and the head maid wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing.
Still, if Scarlet was happy, then it's fine. That was all that mattered to her.
Claire waited for the phone to stop ringing and wondered how Mr Wilde would react to the good news. Debbie Connor might just be the lady who knew how to pull Scarlet out from that deep and dark hole she dug for herself.

I know it's a long break (more than a year) but I had to focus on my studies. Now into a 2-year internship with lots of free time in my hand. Thus I've decided to continue the novel, at the very least I can guarantee that I can keep writing for the next couple of years.

Guys, I'll officially upload the next new chapter in a couple of weeks; I'm editing all the chapters released, to improve the standard. Re-evaluation of the novel showed my standard of writing is weak, which's obvious given the fact that English is only my third language.   

I'm working on improving my writing skills but for the immediate results, an Editor software has been subscribed for premium.

The year was 2031. And while it would have been not unlike any other year, what made it remarkable was the Magic Lens market release. Although to be fair, it wasn't your normal release. The blueprints, documentation, and everything else for the breakthrough device appeared out of nowhere on Reddit on September 1, 2031, instantly spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Who posted the dump? Who created the device, one that hid smartphone-esque computing power and microLED image quality in what looked like plain contact lenses? Half a century later, that remains a mystery.
All we have is a screen name: Prophet.
Growth shot through the roof for the company manufacturing Magic Lenses. Software was supplied by a variety of developers, including some industry giants.
In just one year, the Magic Lens became as ubiquitous as smartphones. Many people got rid of their smartphones, in fact.
But it was then, on September 1, 2032, one year to the day after Prophet posted the lens blueprints to Reddit, that he struck again with a new piece of software for the Magic Lens.
It was open-source, available to everyone absolutely free of charge.
We all remember how quickly the entire world downloaded it.
But when they installed it…
At first, everyone thought it was a game.
It took two or three days of people having a blast destroying monsters, using magic, and beating dungeons to realize that it actually wasn't. It was reality.
It was reality revealed by the Magic Lens.
Some governments tried to ban the lenses and their software, but Prophet had taken care of that by making everything open-source and available online. It would have been easier to shut down the internet than to keep humanity from their magic.
That's when the research began.
Magic had always been around, it turned out. The problem was that with each generation, fewer and fewer humans were capable of seeing, feeling, and sensing it.
As a result, the magic that had once been an inherent part of everyday life was confined to legends and fairy tales. The mortal world and the magic world co-existed as two sides of the same coin, never interacting with each other. Humans, with very rare exceptions, were unable to spot the magic creatures. The latter kept their distance.
To be fair, the exceptions on the magic side were far more common. That explained why about ten million people around the world went missing every year, never to be heard from again.
The magic creatures, vampires and all the rest, needed food. Vampires require an absurd amount of blood just to stay alive, while werewolves… Well, they're in a category all to themselves.
The Magic Lens restored the gift of magic to humanity. Research showed that its ability to transform mysterious magic into ordinary numbers and figures was based on quantum uncertainty, hyperposition, string theory, ray gravity, and the distortion of time-space by speed, or the gravitational difference between two points. There's more, but the list gets even more incomprehensible from there.
In 2032, regardless, magic once again became a normal part of life on Earth again.
Humans suddenly discovered that the Ural, Himalayan, and Andean Mountains are inhabited by dwarves, the forests of Canada and Siberia by elves. Fish swim side by side with mermaids, nagas, kappas, and other magic creatures. And it isn't just birds soaring through the skies; there are also dragons, phoenixes, griffins, and even creatures whose names had long since disappeared from legends and fairy tales.
Ogres. Trolls. Wargs. Goblins. Orcs. Fairies. Giants. Cyclopes. Medusas. Centaurs. Cyclopes…did I mention them already? Regular old humans were suddenly in contact with all of them.
Remember Tony Stark's speech in one of those superhero movies? (How quaint they look today.) You know, the guy in the iron suit who started by fighting normal people before moving on to superhumans, aliens, and even gods? That trajectory, it turns out, extends much further than previously thought.
But magic advanced by leaps and bounds after 2032. Humans worked on it. Studied it. Believed in it. (At least, if the clerics and other zealots of the Word are right about everything on Earth being moved by Faith.)
In other words, magic didn't become just another part of life on New Earth. It worked its way deeply into every aspect of life, developing and transforming as it went. The age of digital technology was followed by the age of magic and technology integration.
They even found Atlantis.
Sure, it wasn't that hard. For thousands of years, the state of Atlantis had been thriving on a continent hidden from the mortal world under the water, with just its tip protruding above the waves for everyone as New Zealand.
It also turned out that the old non-magical technology we used to use had failed to grasp Earth's full size. The planet is almost half again as large as people used to think.
Scientists went back to the drawing board, poring over what they thought they knew to combine physical laws with the laws of magic and sorcery.
Just to take one example, no one yet knows why the larger Earth discovery didn't change the number of days in the year, the number of hours in the solar day, or even gravitational acceleration.
Fifty years later, in 2081, our stack of unsolved riddles still dwarfs the ones we've figured out the answers to.
But humans went on living.
They learned magic at schools of witchcraft and wizardry. They visited the lands of sapient magic creatures. They hunted non-sapient magic creatures. They explored dungeons. They loved. They betrayed. They gave birth. They died.
They fought wars, too.
Back in 2040, the First Magic War changed the global map and all but destroyed the planet. More on that later.
Reddit was successful in its mission to change the world. (For better or worse? Hard to say.)
Some are still adamantly set against the usage of Magic Lenses, rejecting all forms of magic. But they're few and capable of nothing more than scattered terrorist attacks.
We've already gone through two generations—and there's a third maturing—for whom magic is just as commonplace as the internet once was. (Of course, the internet is still around.)
Just don't be surprised if you come across an elf wearing sneakers and a baseball cap, drinking a Starbucks, and tapping away at a Mac laptop. Of course, you're still unlikely to come across one like that, be it in New York, Tokyo, London, or Moscow, unless you can get your hands on a pass for the city sector occupied by the magic races. That's your best shot.
The only place where you're sure to bump into someone from one of the magic races is Myers City, the capital of Atlantis deep in the Pacific Ocean. The birthplace of magic.
But how did magic come to be?
Who was the Prophet?
Why was the Magic Lens created?
Alex Doom, also known as Alexander Dumsky, had no idea.
And who is Alex Doom?
Good question.

Alexander Dumsky, or Alex Doom, was a dark wizard. At the age of seventeen, he was convicted of a litany of crimes so long that even the seasoned investigators, judges, and prosecutors involved in the case could only shudder.
Not a single attorney could be found to defend him in court.

This chapter will be more light-hearted and happy. Near the start at least...

Jade woke up to the sight of Peter poking him.
Jade had to admit that Peter looked so cute as a baby. 
He had drool dripping from his mouth and dark-brown eyes that contained child-like innocence and curiosity.
(A/N Sort of like this: ( つ◕﹃◕)つ ~ poke )
Jade stretched his tiny body and looked around him.
He was trapped inside a quite large, decorated crib, which was essentially an accessorized cage, filled with toys and little trinkets for babies. 
To be honest, Jade never really like toys all that much. 
Even as a child, he didn't really want to play with toys because he didn't like to waste money and space. 

All of a sudden, Jade heard the thing he feared most since arriving into the Marvel Cinematic Universe... 

(Switching to Jade's POV)

I swear it was like listening to the sweet melody from Satan himself (A/N or herself, it's 2019 and equality is a thing, at least I think so)...
"Jade and Peter! My sweety-puffs! It's time for you to get your breakfast!" a happy and loving female voice sounded out.
However, all I heard was an invitation to hell. I felt cold-sweat appear my body as I tried to escape. I quickly crawled to the corner of the crib and hid under a small mini-blanket which had a cartoonish monkey embroidered onto it. I shivered under the covers as I heard my mother get closer with each step. 
"Where are you hiding Jade?" my mother playfully asked.
I fearfully shuddered and stopped my breathing.
"You think I can't see you...? Ha! Gotcha!" 
As she said those words, she swiftly grabbed onto my tiny body and lifted me into the air.
"Why are you always so resistant to breastfeeding?" my mother wondered. 
She then gently placed me into a comfortable position in her arms and forced me to drink...
I have never felt so humiliated and embarrassed in my entire life...
'Why can't time speed up sometimes!?' I wondered as I obediently drank my breakfast in shame.  

After what felt like an eternity of torture, Jade was finally released from his sufferi-... I mean breakfast. 

(Changing to Mary Parker, Jade's mother, POV)

I sometimes think there's something wrong with my dearest Jade. 
Sometimes, he stares at me and whenever I look into those eyes, I feel like he isn't just a baby. 
He feels like someone who's been through hardship and suffering almost like one of those seasoned veteran agents at S.H.I.E.L.D. 
He's also very mature, quiet and rarely ever cries but for some reason, he always seems to hate breastfeeding. 
Thank god Peter isn't the same because I don't know if I can handle two silent babies just staring at me. 

- Time Skip, 10th of August, 2002 -

(Changing back to Jade's POV)

Today was the date of our birthday. 
Peter and I were dressed in cute miniature business suits which our mother absolutely fawned over for hours on how cute and handsome we looked.
We held a small party with our family at our house (including Uncle Ben and Aunt May) and it was filled with laughter, joy and happiness. 
Just the sight of it warmed my heart. 
We had exaggerated, large balloons, a big and delicious strawberry shortcake birthday cake 
(A/N my favourite kind of cake along with chocolate and cheesecake btw), and a variety of presents. The smell of cake, party poppers and birthday candles made my eyes slightly water... 
It was just the candles ok!? 

It was times like these that made me want to protect this family, no the universe, the most. 
People were like me and had families as well. 
I had future knowledge about things like the Thanos snap and how much destruction and sorrow it could bring to the entire universe, let alone just Earth. 
This just made me more determined to get stronger to protect everyone. 

"Mama, Papa," I blurted out. 
My parents, Mary and Richard Parker's eyes widened as they revealed an expression of pure joy.
"HA! Told you MY children would say my name first!" exclaimed my mother as she lifted me into her arms and did a cute little celebratory dance whilst forcing me to dance with her as well. 
"Yeah, yeah love..." my father grumbled.
"Wait! There's still Peter!" my father shouted as two pairs of eyes glued onto my poor, oblivious baby brother.
For the next half an hour, they spent their time trying to figure out ways for Peter to say either "Mama or Papa", doing things like bribing him with toys, playing with him, and giving him sweets. 
Both Uncle Ben and Aunt May laughed at their antics and seemed amused at the sight of them trying to bribe Peter into saying their names.

To my surprise, it had actually worked as Peter stopped sucking on his thumb and let out, "Mama."
My mother let out a big victory yelp as I watched my father looking mock disheartened and hurt.
I quickly comforted him by crawling over to him (I didn't want to be seen being able to walk yet) and slowly patting him on the head. 
"*Sniff* At least Jade still loves me, unlike that heartless woman over there and Peter who abandoned me..." my father melodramatically dramatised as he wiped away his invisible tears.

My mother rolled her eyes as she boasted,
"It's only natural that they love me more."
My father leaned closer to her and whispered into her ears, 
"I guess I'll need to punish you tonight then, on the account of our sons..."
My mom's ears rapidly turned into a light shade of red which was slowly spreading to her face, as both my uncle and aunt coughed loudly, letting the pair of lovebirds know that there were still other people around and present.
This prompted my mom to become even more embarrassed and redder than a tomato.
She lightly punched Richard saying, 
"Bad man..."
To my mother's little complaint, my father's face just brightened up even more as he showed a devious grin.
Let's just say that some nightly endeavours may have ensued at around midnight...

I woke up once again with the same sight of Peter curiously staring at me and poking me occasionally. It was a wonder how he could get away with doing so and not wake me up. 
I once again practised my routine of doing mini vocal and physical exercises.
Surprisingly, Peter also tried to do the same things that I was. It was kind of funny watching him clumsily do my exercises but it was cute nonetheless. I did hear once that babies would start to mimic people's actions and facial expressions when they developed enough.  
'Iris, please show my status,' I asked politely.

'Better, but still really low.'

After both of my parents had left, for their spy/agent work at S.H.E.I.L.D I assumed, I began my daily routine of exercises. It was kind of weird looking into the mirror because all I saw was a sweaty and tired 1-year-old baby with weird and unique eyes. About 2 hours into my training, I noticed my baby brother start wailing, crying and screaming. So much so that I swear my ears started to bleed. 

I quickly ran to him, trying to pacify him in any way I could, hugging, feeding, playing, nothing worked. However, since I loved children and babies in general in my past life and gained experience in handling them, I finally managed to stop the wailing beast after half an hour of peekaboo...
Now I finally understood why people and parents alike always said that being parents was hard and a huge responsibility. Didn't mean that I would stop loving children though, however annoying or dumb they could be...

I took a deep breath as I looked at my new options.
'Well, better now than later'.

I started on Karate as I practised the very basic movements (the very, very basic ones since I'm still a baby) and tried to familiarise them with myself. I tried to practise my stance but it was really hard with such short limbs, but I managed to make it work and my movements started to flow and come out more natural and consistent. 
'Higher Intelligence really does help huh?' 

(A/N Do you guys want me to make an auxiliary chapter to explain all of the functions of the system? I did the system theme and skipped explaining it because it's all pretty self-explanatory but I don't know if you guys want me to explain some of the functions as well. Also, do you want me to always display all of the missions/quests that Jade does? I made it so that Jade'll do mini-quests in the background without me always writing about it. Need your input on it though.

Also, I made it so that the system can't produce money because of several reasons. Once a system can produce money out of thin air, that can literally destroy economies. Think about it. Once you can produce your own money and you spend it, then that's when issues will start arising. An influx of money can make that currency's value decrease because there's too much of it rendering it essentially useless. A good example can be Turkey where they print their own money and its value has gone down tremendously. Sorry that it's turned into an economy lesson xD)

I hated the fact that I was still a baby and wished I could grow up quicker, but I needed to continue training and so that I could save my parent's from the aeroplane crash accident.

[Jade, considering you've been practising it for only a few hours, 0.7% is quite a significant gain compared to 100% when you've been considered to have complete mastery over the subject.]

'Hmmm... I guess I'm just still too lazy...' I thought.
I continued practising until evening and looked at the clock.
'Guess mom and dad are coming home soon'
I started to wipe off the sweat off of my body.
Surprisingly, I still had a lot of baby fat but there was still a significant change on how I looked before and after. It was hard to explain but 
I quickly crawled back to my crib and climbed inside. 
(A/N Keep in mind that it's still faster for Jade to crawl then walk or run rn)

I waited for a few minutes until I heard the rustle of the keys and the sound of the front door opening. However, I was horrified by the sight I saw. They were riddled in wounds, cuts and injuries. My mother got the lighter end of the stick, but she was in no-way Scott-free from any damage, with some visible scratches, bruises and cuts here and there. My father was heavily injured. He had bandages wrapped around his arms to conceal the blood which caked his entire arm. 

This was when I knew that this was no longer just a cinematic, comic or fantasy world. This was my reality and I lived in it. I needed to stop treating it like a planned out script or story because this was my life now. 

"Shit. They're getting even closer to getting it than we had thought," my father grunted to my mother, clearly in pain.

"I know but what can we do? We're wounded and have children Richard!" 

"Honey, this involves millions of people. We have to do something."

"What do you want us to do Richard!? Act like a double agent or some f*cking sh*t And leave Jade and Peter behind?!" my mother questioned, furious. 

"We have to. It's the only way to protect everyone. Including our sons," my father tried to reason, gently holding my mother's face. 

"What happens if we die? Who'll take after Jade and Peter?" my mother sobbed whilst finally opting to listen.

"My brother Ben and his wife May will take them. I know them and they'll keep Jade and Peter safe," my dad said whilst putting up a strong front. 

My mother turned to look at both me and Peter whilst crying and nodded.

"Anything to keep them safe."

(A/N Just to let you guys know, I really don't know too much about the MCU timeline/plot in general so I'm going to be adapting the actual story to suit my own preferences in my novel so don't take my novel as accurate or anything.)

- Time Skip, 2 years -

During these two years, I've been very, very busy. 
Other than completing quests, I've also been practising all of the martial arts and dare I say that I've become pretty proficient in some of them. Granted, my mastery over them is pretty low, I can now say that I've mastered the basics of all of them and got them all to 10%. I'm pretty happy with myself right now 8^).

It's been kind of awkward training in front of Peter since he always tries to mimic my exercises and always fails but it's also really cute watching him try. 
He's the best.
My parents have also moved us out of the crib and into toddler beds which was a nice change. 
However, it's heartbreaking when my parents come home injured but what can I do? 
I couldn't do much but be as independent as possible and look after Peter.
'I need to get stronger quicker' I resolved myself to do.

I decided that it was finally time when I created an AI.
Using the computer in my home (it was a Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah and it was terribly slow and awful keeping in mind it's 2004). 
I used my remanding 150 SP to make an AI based on Iris.

I complimented myself for my obvious superior naming sense.

The system started to work it's magic as I watched as it created lines of coding and algorithms that spanned for seemingly forever. 
'Wow creating an AI is complicated' I thought. 
Though I knew it was very hard and complicated to create an AI, I didn't expect that it would take quite literally a few millions of lines of code to create a good AI.

'Great!' I thought. 
"SRIM, can you hear me?"

A mechanical, genderless voice answered.
"Great! So SRIM, can you name all of the functions you can currently do?" I asked. 

{Affirmative. Currently, I am able to hack into most mainframes, banks, companies and governments due to their low security as of now. However, I cannot say the same in a decade as technology and security would've advanced and I would require more SP to upgrade my software. You may also spend 500 SP to allow me to become self-learning and automatically upgrade myself as more technologies and electronics advance more.}

"WOW. That's pretty good..." I said whilst reading her list (I made the AI a female because I named her SRIM which is a feminine name). 
I sighed at the self-learning for 500 SP as I knew I would have to buy it.
'More quests for me...'

A normal Marvel lover reincarnates into the MCU with a system and a few wishes of his gets granted. 
A basic plot with a MC that doesn't have an over-rated and melodramatic tragic backstory.

I'm a pretty bad amateur writer and I'm just doing this for fun because there are only a few good marvel stories that are still being updated. 
I'll update when I get inspiration or can find the time to so please don't expect too much of me.

Once he had awaken from his slumber, the sun was already out and shining. Most of the candidates were already up and making rustling noises as they started writing again. Pei Zi Yun stood up and stretched himself. With a patrolling official following him, he went to the toilet and back to the room. He drank some water, taking small sips at a time.

After having more pastries and an egg, Pei Zi Yun felt rejuvenated. He then began to check the answers on the scrap paper and ensured that he had solved the three big questions without mistakes. As he sighed, he knew that if he did not become an Elementary Scholar, something was seriously wrong. 

He then started to copy the answers from the scrap paper into the actual answer script. 

“The last section is the final part, poetry.”

“Frankly, regardless of which discipline is the emphasis, poetry is the least important. The last question thus tested the candidates literary abilities.”

“All I can say is, if it is an outstanding piece, bonus marks will be rewarded.”

Although Pei Zi Yun was not the most poetical person, he had many poems in his memories. 

Between these two worlds, surely there will not be two identical poets. 

Looking at the topic, "Start of Spring”, Pei Zi Yun was shocked. This looked familiar to him. His head felt slightly painful from the number of poems he could choose from to write.

As he was thinking, he held the inkstone and his gaze was fixed on the question. He finally decided on which poem he would write, "I shall write the poem by Xi Han Yu”

“This poet was part of the Tang dynasty, and poems from the Tang dynasty are the most expensive. This was because no other dynasties could compete in poetry with them. And this person was conferred numerous titles for his ability in literature. Bring me some luck!”

Pei Zi Yun’s heart was glad with confidence. This time, there was no need for the scrap paper, he decided to write directly onto the actual sheet.

<Spring>

The streets were wet with light drizzle as the grass swayed in the wind. 

The best time of the year is spring, infinitely better than having smoke filled skies.

Phew

When he had finished, Pei Zi Yun relaxed every muscle in his body. He checked the entire script three times to ensure no mistakes were made. He looked around him to see everyone was still buried in their writings, each of them looking pale. He had finished before time was up as he shouted, "Submitting my paper!”

The official asked him curiously, "It’s not even dark, yet you have finished writing?”

Pei Zi Yun replied, "I have finished.”

Without delay the official called for the official in charge of receiving scripts. He checked that everything was in order before saying, "Release!”

All these submitted scripts will then be stamped with the candidate’s names to prevent fraud of any sort. Several officials will then transcribe the contents of the paper and pass the copies for marking. Only after the top percentile of candidates have been selected will they be able to view the actual papers. At this point if it was well done, marks can be added. Before this process nobody was allowed to see the actual test scripts, not even the officials collecting the papers.

Pei Zi Yun exited the examination hall and realized how stuffy and stifling the atmosphere had been. He did not want to stay longer than he had to. It was rumoured that the next tier of examinations required three days to complete and candidates were not allowed to leave early. He wondered how blank he would be if he had to do that.

He recalled that just as he was copying the answers down onto the actual answer sheet, a student had to be carried out. He had an entire head of white hair and was wailing to be let back in again. Pei Zi Yun watched from afar and felt somewhat distressed. 

That was how it was for the examinations. If you did not pass the Elementary Scholar examination once, and succeeded even after several attempts, you will end up like that. 

Unless the candidate is exceptionally lucky, or exceptionally talented, the higher tier examinations would usually require a few attempts. Pei Zi Yun felt completely drained and exhausted but completely relieved as well. 

Since the examinations are over, and he should become an Elementary Scholar with the relevant status, the Plum Blossom mission would be completed. 

As he stepped out, Pei Zi Yun realized how blank his mind felt. 

Apart from a High Scholar’s family, scholars, servants and cart drivers, everyone else traveled by riding. In the history of examination candidates, many have collapsed from exhaustion and sickness. Walking under exhaustion like this would not be safe, and since he did not feel like walking anyway, he waved his hand for transport.

An oxcart stopped beside him, as Pei Zi Yun said, "Safe Travels Inn!”

“Sure, have a seat, passenger.”

The ride back to the inn was very bumpy, but at least the hotel serving staff were on the ball. As soon as they saw him, they shouted, "Prepare the hot water!”

Pei Zi Yun immediately took a warm shower before coming out to some meat porridge. After having his meal and some tea, he started seeing candidates returning from the examination hall. He noticed that Tang Zhen looked extremely pale. The moment he saw Pei Zi Yun he hurriedly approached him and bowed.

Pei Zi Yun was shocked and said, "Brother Tang why do you have to be so formal?”

He looked up and saw Tang Zhen looking embarrassed as he said, "I am thankful for the scolding you gave me a few days ago, and forced me to revise in my room before the examinations. One of the questions that came out, I had just revised during that period. And so I have to thank you.” 

“Haha, that really happened? Then it is your destiny.” Pei Zi Yun smiled as he spoke sincerely. This man truly has some good fortune, having a question that came out during his revision.

As he finished his porridge, he noticed a few more candidates returning but was not bothered. He went up to his room and lay on his bed. Within moments he was immersed in sweet dreams.

School, Marking Hall

The top papers had already been arranged by merit, but had to wait for the rest to be sorted before they could be released. The marking hall consisted of people who recorded the marks, script collectors and seal affixers. In the west hall, officials were in charge of reading and internal circulation. 

The script collectors will ferry the scrips to the seal room, where they will be stamped to protect the integrity of the papers before they are delivered to the recording room to be copied.

Once copies had been made, both the original and copies would be transported across the hall to reading rooms. The officials will read both documents to ensure that they are exactly the same. They will retain the original and pass the copied version to the great hall. 

The great hall was some distance away and the scripts have to be handed outside. Within the great hall, an official would be reading the scripts behind a screen, making it resemble an office of sorts. 

When every official had finished reading the scripts and were satisfied with its quality, they would each indicate with a circle on top, before handing it to the room chief. 

After the room chief was satisfied, he too would affix a circle onto the top of the script before sending it over to the deputy chief examiner. Likewise, when the deputy chief examiner was content with the quality of the script he would indicate with a circle and finally send it to the chief examiner. 

The night sky was littered with an abundance of stars. Just as the room was littered with candles, illuminating the entire place. 

The layout of the room was very simple. There were a couple of tables and chairs. The table was full of examination scripts. The chief examiner was called Ye Xiang Gao and he was a 50 years old man with an entire head of white hair. He was looking at the reading officials, "Today you are here grading examination papers, do not forget those hard years of studying. But more importantly, do not forget the trust invested in you by the dynasty. Be alert when marking the scripts, if there are any discrepancies, be sure to voice it out.”

The officials acknowledged and proceeded with their duties.

The reading officials were all professors in the relevant subjects, and there were fixed answers to the first section, so the grading for this part was straightforward. 

After a short while, one of the officials shouted, "Question five of the justice segment had been answered wrongly. Everyone was able to get this question right but this candidate made a mistake.”

As he said this, he threw that script into the bottom percentile. 

In this examination, there were around two thousand seven hundred scripts. But with many marking officials, within moments the first part of it had been graded. 

“Your excellency, of two thousand seven hundred and forty one scripts, three hundred and ninety one had fallen behind due to error in answers and are at the bottom of the cohort. 

Those scripts that had fallen to the bottom are deemed hopeless and will only receive attention when all the scripts had been marked. Unless a miracle happens, chances of these scripts making it are very slim.

“Two thousand three hundred and fifty scripts shall now be marked on the next segment.” Announced the chief examiner. 

“Yes!” Now that they were marking the big questions, the speed would be much slower. Late in the night, one of the officials yawned. Even if there were many marking officials, with so many words to read, they would surely feel dizzy and see stars after some time. Holding on to one script, he read the contents before shouting, "What rubbish is he writing.”

It was then tossed to the bottom of the cohort. 

Moving on to the next script, he straightened up and smiled, "Not bad, this is a good piece!”

He then circled the top of the paper and was about to put it aside but could not bear to, "A script of this quality is hard to come by. I shall enjoy reading it once more.”

The white haired official read it through once more, sampling the quality and sighed, "Rare, a rare quality piece.”

He then wrote, ‘top quality’ below the circle. The official in the room will take a closer look. In a heartbeat, the script had been delivered to the inner room.

If the reading officials were likened to tired dogs, the official in the room was as free as a cat. All he had to read were scripts with a circle on top.

The official in the room was not tired, as he read the scripts without expression. He then called out to the official outside and asked, "This script, was it you who deemed it to be top quality?”

“Yes it was.”

The room official considered for a moment before drawing a circle on top too. He then wrote, "Matured piece of writing, possible top scorer.”

The reading official saw and was shocked. The room official then told a scribe, “Take this to the assistant chief examiner.”

Within a few minutes after the goblin went away, his card flashed and the new runes were displayed. He did not know that the goblins had made the cards themselves self-updating.

This was one of the reason he was there in the bank he wanted to pool all the liquid money from all the Houses into one vault and then split it up into equal pieces when the time of inheritance of his children had come.

He opened a vault under his own name and transferred all monies from all the houses he was the head of.

Then he talked to Ragnok about building a complete, magical community. He wanted to build the Community from the ground up and asked to buy all the land under the name Godric's Hollow.

Next, he goes to visit each of his companies and conducts a deep and thorough investigation across from everything, from the chain of command, Budget Mangement methods, Workplace Ethics, Workplace Environment, employee contracts, current Patents, etc.

He then bought the flash technology patent from Toshiba and then created Poseidon technology from Seagate and hired more researchers. Then he reformed the storage technologies, both the HDD, Flash memory technologies. He wanted to make Poseidon the face of everything related to Memory and Storage. Whether it be household products or server level storage.

For Intel, he made it so that they had a clear direction where to go like increasing the number of cores and transistors, while also researching efficiency of the cores. Gave them some technology to bring them up to the standard he required for this year.

For MSi he researched and gave them ideas for the future motherboard technology and what was required he also made them patent the ATX form factor, also the ideas for M-ATX, and ITX. He also developed USB to at least USB4 speeds and patented it.

Logitech was his next important and one of his fastest making companies currently so he put extra effort into it. He invented the modern laser mouse sensor including the scroll wheel.

Next, he worked on the keyboard. First, he created a new layout for the keyboard. It was faster, more efficient, and easier to learn and get used to. Then for the technology, he created the modern membrane keyboards, with different styles and layouts for laptop keys, etc.

Then he created his own mechanical switch technology which had much lower actuation point and came in different types of colors using the same color scheme as the Cherry MX. He named the logic keys for the brand.

After that, he created a new department for PC cases, PC cooling technology, Power supply technology, Audio technology like speakers, headphones, Logitech chair technology.

Sony was also his fastest money making business currently. After going through a thorough investigation of the company inside and out and also knowledge of the Japanese morals and Culture, Harold now understood why Sony had Failed it was trying to maintain the same working style across all countries.

That way would not work as different countries have different work ethics and that's where the problem was caused according to him.

Then he made plans for the companies restructuring and then remade hiring processes for the different branches of the companies.

For the audio devices, he made the technology for what the future would be called the iPod but from this time around he would rename it as the Walk-pod.

For the computing department, he completely overhauled the department and named it the Vaio division, and also gave them ideas for the notebook PCs.

For photography and videography, he gave them the roadmap to the sensor technology of the future.

For the video department, he directly gave them the completely developed OLED screen technology and made them develop Bravia TV and PC monitors.

The last was his personal favorite part that was the PlayStation department. He saw their research and also provided a roadmap for the Future. He even included a Handheld device and a motion-sensing remote for controller ideas.

He then Bought SolarWorld company and then gave them all his research on Photovoltaic cells. The resulting solar panel technology drastically reduced costs and increased Energy efficiency to around 46%.

He made them patent it as silently as possible. After that he worked on GSM technologies for the world he developed it till 5g speeds.

After that, he set up SpaceX and began building new satellite technology at least 25 years in the future and patented it like popcorns but he made the satellite tech-free for everyone. He even made ASPN be possible before GPS was even coming into action and got the talk for it out on the streets. Then he created rocket designs for the Pearl while he was visiting his other companies and gave the designs for the rocket and also his roadmap for Pearl 2 and his future vision for a moon base.

For Motorola, he gave them all details of the GSM technology and also the technology to create the RAZR phone. He then told them to replace all the previous handset owners with the new ones.

For Cisco, he redeveloped and improved upon all the future networking technologies like switches, routers, SDN architecture, Structured cabling and patented them and started selling home and server solutions.

The only hardware company he did not have was Graphics card, thus he established a new company called Nvidia with his new tech as a basis and then recruited promising youngsters from across America and poached several other from ATi.

For Phoenix soft, he creates a new programming language much easier to use and learn, more efficient in the processing and he also used his language knowledge for better use and made it accessible across all languages and named this script Fire script.

Using fire script, He creates an Open-source OS which would compete with Linux called the Griffin 1 and Another Branded OS competing with the likes of MacOS and Windows known as the Phoenix 1. He also designed a search engine called Unisearch(unicorn horn in i). They also were also looking into creating the worlds largest and fastest DNS service called the FlameDNS.

After that, he started creating technology for the improvement of the world's internet like fiber optics.

After all that he started using his knowledge to redesign the manufacturing technologies of his companies to keep up with if required worldwide demand, especially for solar technology.

Then he made sure all his manufacturing plants were working on solar energy. Then he used his knowledge for improving various material extraction technologies around the world and patented with the UN and made it public knowledge except for nuclear materials that were only available to the world nuclear association.

He also made his patented research about recycling materials to the public. Just to make companies that were on the edge about replacing the machines with newer ones. He made knowledge about world pollution, climate change print in every newspaper. Around the world irrespective of languages.

After that slowly using his Money he forced all manufacturers to accept his new keyboard layout and USB into their devices. He even forced Microsoft to change default layout to the new keyboard and provide support USB.

He made all his devices USB compatible and even gave the handheld devices USB type-c ports. Unknowing to Microsoft several of the PC manufacturers after looking and experiencing the phoenix os all accepted that the coming year they would all replace Windows with Phoenix OS.

After that Harold sat down started writing different books for his employees in his companies. The books were only distributed among the company workers for at least the next 2 years when they are ahead of the market in technological standards then he would release the book into the market.

After that, he had written a book about farming and herding and had translated into the native tongues of many of the languages and made it world spread. This caused many farmers in the world to have higher yields and profits.
