AUTHOR'S POV 
Tiap belahan bumi menunggu jam untuk berdenting di angka dua belas tepat. Tahun yang baru telah tiba. Lembaran lama telah di tutup sedang kan yang baru telah di buka, siap untuk di penuhi dengan petualangan tahun ini. Harapan - harapan yang belum terpenuhi terus di bawa bersama dengan harapan baru. Tantangan di depan sudah menunggu untuk di lewati. Tinta pena siap melukiskan cerita yang baru. 
Perayaan tahun baru mereka lanjutkan dengan menyalakan berbagai kembang api. Keseruan malam itu hampir tiada akhir nya. Malam pun semakin larut. Setiap dari mereka masih ingin untuk merayakan pergantian tahun itu. Tapi tenaga perlahan habis, menuntut mereka untuk segera kembali ke tempat tidur. Satu per satu pun akhir nya tumbang dan berjalan ke kamar masing - masing. 
Princess Elle mengucapkan selamat tahun baru kepada Lady Rosela lalu berjalan menuju ruangan nya. Bola berbulu kecil itu menggonggong kepada Lady Rosela seakan mengucapkan selamat tahun baru. Lalu mengikuti Princess Elle di belakang nya. Karena gemas dengan Lovely, Ia kemudian menggendong anjing kecil itu. Saat mau sampai kamar Princess Elle, bola berbulu itu menggeliat minta di turunkan. Setelah Lovely turun kemudian dia berlari ke pintu kamar Elle, lalu menggaruk - garuk pintu itu. Princess Elle kemudian membuka pintu kamarnya. Bola berbulu itu kemudian berlari ke dalam. Anjing itu menggonggong kepada sosok pria yang sedang melihat ke jendela itu. 
" Christian, Apa yang kau lakukan di sini ? " tanya Princess Elle bingung sambil buru - buru menutup pintu kamar nya. 
" Happy New Year, babe! " ucap Christian kemudian mencium pipi kekasih nya itu. 
"Happy New Year. Bagaimana bisa masuk ? " tanya Princess Elle yang masih kebingungan bagaimana kekasih nya itu dapat masuk melewati penjagaan istana yang sangat ketat. 
" Itu semua berkat Pak Jim. Dia yang membantu masuk ke dalam istana melewati pintu rahasia. "
"Oh gosh, untung lah, " ucap Elle menghembuskan napa nya lega. 
" Jadi, aku sudah susah payah datang ke sini, tapi kamu malah merebahkan diri di kasur, " ujar Christian meledek Princess Elle sambil mencubit cuping hidung nya. 
"Aww, sakit tahu. Lagian ini kan udah malem. Kamu dateng nya malem - malem segala sih, " protes Elle pada Christian. 
" Ya kan kalo gak malem gini lebih susah dateng nya, " ujar Christian "Jadi kamu gak mau bangun nih dari kasur? "
"Ih sebentar dong lagi rebahan dulu tau, emang kita mau kemana ? " tanya Elle. 
 " Ke safe house. "
" Gimana caranya ? "
" udah ayo bangun dulu, " ujar Christian seraya berusaha menarik Elle dari kasur. 
" Gak mau...." Christian lalu menggendong Elle layak nya penculik. Elle tertawa sambil menepuk - nepuk pundak Christian. Ia lalu menurunkan Elle dari pundak nya. 
" Habis nya susah banget sih di bangunin nya. " Elle pun hanya tertawa. 
Kedua nya lalu keluar dari kamar Elle. Lovely yang mengikuti mereka di belakang akhir nya di gendong oleh Elle. Ketiga nya kemudian masuk ke dalam pintu rahasia yang ternyata ada di lorong sebelah kanan sepanjang kamar Elle. Lampu - lampu yang ada di balik pintu rahasia itu kemudian menyala secara otomatis. Ketiga nya menyusuri jalan yang ada di situ. 
" Christian ini kita lewat mana ? " tanya Elle bingung. 
" Belok kiri, nanti akan tembus langsung ke garasi istana. "
Ketiga nya lalu terus berjalan menyusuri lorong itu. Sampai akhir nya mereka sampai di garasi istana. Christian kemudian mengambil kunci mobil BMW Z4 yang berwarna silver itu. Ketiga nya kemudian masuk ke dalam mobil itu. Christian yang memegang kemudi. Sepanjang jalan, langit penuh dengan kembang api yang menghiasi langit. Setiap sudut tempat yang mereka lewati tidak luput dari meriah nya suasana tahun baru. 
Sesampai nya di safe house, Christian menyiapkan perapian, menambah nya dengan beberapa log kayu yang di ambil nya dari penyimpanan sebelum nya. Sementara itu, Elle terlihat sedang memasak air panas untuk membuat dua cangkir coklat panas. Elle membawa dua cangkir coklat panas beserta dengan biskuit ke meja di depan televisi. 
" Jadi kita mau nonton apa nih ? " tanya Christian
" Hmm..... Bagaimana kalo romance comedy, " ujar Elle. 
"Ide bagus. " 
Setelah film di putar Elle kemudian duduk sambil menyeruput coklat panas yang di buat nya dengan tangan Christian yang melingkar di badan nya. Bola berbulu kecil juga tak mau ketinggalan duduk di antara Elle dan Christian.  
" Wah film nya lucu ya, " ujar Christian sambil menengok ke arah Elle. 
Elle menghampiri bibir Christian lalu mengecup nya lembut. " iya lucu dan romantis. " 
Kedua nya kemudian tertidur bersama di atas sofa. Keesokkan hari nya matahri telah bersinar terang. Cahaya nya menembus melalui celah - celah gorden yang ada. Elle membuka matanya melihat lelaki yang di cintai nya itu masih tertidur dengan lelap sambil memeluk diri nya. Ia memperhatikan dengan seksama garis wajah lelaki itu. Christian kemudian membuka matanya mendapati Elle sedang memperhatikan wajah nya. 
"Like what you see?" tanya Christian. 
Elle tidak menjawab, ia terus memperhatikan wajah kekasih nya itu. 
"Well, I will take that as a yes then, " ujar Christian. 
"Terserah kamu, " ujar Elle seraya beranjak dari sofa itu, lalu menuju ke kamar mandi untuk membersihkan tubuh nya. 
Sementara Elle membersihkan tubuh nya, Christian mempersiapkan sarapan pagi untuk kedua nya. Gonggongan Lovelyb menyadarkan Christian bahwa pagi ini dia memiliki tambahan satu tamu lagi. Untung nya ia menyimpan dog food. sebagai jaga - jaga apabila ada anjing yang di belikan nya untuk Elle berkunjung ke safe house. Alunan lagu Oceane pun menemani pagi mereka.

Selesai membersih kan diri, Elle melilit kan sehelai handuk putih ke badan nya lalu menuruni anak tangga. 
" Aku lupa gak bawa baju salin, "ujar nya pada Christian. 
"Well, Aku dengan senang hati melihat mu hanya dengan sehelai handuk seharian ini, " ucap nya dengan smirk yang terlukis di wajah itu. 
"Huh enak saja. Kamu yang senang aku yang kedinginan," protes Elle. 
"Iya deh iya, sini ikutin aku." Elle kemudian mengikuti Christian menaiki anak tangga. Lalu memasuki sebuah kamar, yang di dalam nya ada lemari berwarna coklat tua. Ketika di buka lemari itu berisi pakaian - pakaian wanita. 
" Pakaian siapa itu? " tanya Elle bingung. 
"Ini pakaian istri nya Pak Jim. Katanya kalau kamu berkunjung boleh di pakai. Beliau sendiri yang bilang."
" Oke deh. " Elle pun hendak berganti baju tapi Christian tidak kunjung keluar dari kamar itu. 
"Keluar dong, ngapain berdiri di situ." ujar Elle.
"Mau liatin kamu, " goda Christian. 
Elle pun menggeret Christian keluar dari kamar itu, sementara ia hanya tertawamelihat reaksi Elle yang wajah nya memerah.
"Lebih baik kamu mandi sekarang. " Elle kemudian menutup dan mengunci pintu kamar itu. Christian lalu bergegas pergi ke kamar mandi. 
Usai kedua nya rapih dan berpakaian. Kedua nya lalu memakan sarapan yang telah di persiapkan Christian. 
"Sehabis ini main salju yuk, " ajak Elle pada Christian. Lovely menggonggong seakan mengiyakan ajakan tersebut. 
"Ayo," jawab Christian
Ketiga nya kemudian bermain salju di halaman belakang safe house itu. Elle terlihat sedang berusaha membuat manusia salju, sementara Christian terlihat membuat sesuatu yang tidak jelas bentuk nya. Rasa jahil pun memenuhi benak Christian, ia membuat bola salju lalu melemparkan nya ke arah manusia salju yang di buat Elle. 
"Ihh, apaan sih, " ujar Elle kesal. Ia kemudian membalas Christian dengan melemparkan bola salju yang lain ke arah Christian. Tapi sayang nya tembakan itu meleset. 
" Woe gak kena, " Ledek Christian. Elle pun terus berusaha melemparkan bola salju tapi tak satu pun berhasil mengenai Christian. Karena kesal akhir nya ia pun berlari ke arah Christian sambil memegang sebuah bola salju lalu melemparkan nya.
"Strike!!" ucap Elle kegirangan. Akhirnya lemparan itu berhasil mengenai badan Christian. 
Lelah dengan permainan bola salju itu, ketiga nya kemudian masuk ke dalam rumah lalu menyalakan televisi dan melihat berita setempat. 
"Pagi ini kabar, Queen Emma mengumumkan tentang pembubaran Petinggi Kerajaan dan mengganti nya dengan Mentri - Mentri baru. Berikut saya laporkan langsung dari Istana Kerajaan Briterra, " ujar sang reporter. 
"Dengan berbagai pertimbangan dan rumusan akhir nya saya mengumumkan kepada seluruh rakyat tercinta bahwa mulai hari ini Para Petinggi Kerajaan di bubar kan. Maka dari itu saya akan mengganti nya dengan jajaran Mentri - Mentri. Untuk Mentri Ekonomi akan di jabat oleh Robbie Lane. Beliau yang akan mengurusi permasalahan ekonomi, perdagangan dan keuangan kerajaan. Untuk Mentri Pertahanan akan di ampu oleh Patrick Fletcher, beliau akan mengurusi masalah pertahanan, keamanan dan garis wilayah kerajaan kita. Untuk Mentri Pendidikan akan di jabat oleh Jude Collins. Beliau yang akan mengurusi masalah sistem pendidikan kita, beliau juga yang akan menjadi wakil kerajaan kita di sekolah antar kerajaan. Untuk Mentri Komunikasi dan Multimedia akan di ampu oleh Angus Miller, ia yang akan memastikan image kerajaan dan mengatur sosial media yang di gunakan masyarakat serta publikasi - publikasi yang menyangkut kerajaan. Untuk Mentri Perhubungan akan di jabat oleh Hunter Hopkins, beliau yang akan mengurusi hubungan kita dengan kerajaan - kerajaan sekitar. Dan yang terakhir Mentri Kesehatan kita Carter Perry, ia yang akan memastikan kesehatan, kesejahteraan serta pasokan obat dan alat kesehatan di kerajaan ini. Demikian lah susunan mentri yang telah di setujui oleh Lady Rosela. Terima kasih. " 
"Ya begitu lah cuplikan konferensi pers yang ada, saya Mare melaporkan langsung dari istana. " ujar reporter itu. 
"What?! Apa maksud dia main mengganti saja. dan kenapa pula granny menyetujui nya." 
"Granny pasti punya alasan Elle," ujar Christian.
" Aku harus kembali ke istana." Elle mengambil jaket dan kunci mobil kemudian mencium Christian. 
"I love you Chris," ujar Elle.
"I love you too, Elle." 
Princess Elle kemdian masuk ke dalam mobil BMW Z4 milik nya lalu menginjak pedal gas dan menuju ke istana.

"Princess Elle apakah menurut mu ini langkah yang tepat untuk di ambil?
"Bagaimana pendapat anda terkait susunan baru tersebut?"
" Princess Elle, apakah anda memiliki komentar terkait perubahan yang di lakukann Queen Emma?" tanya salah seorang reporter pada Princess Elle yang masih ada di dalam mobil hendak masuk ke gerbang istana.
"Shit, aku lupa akan ada banyak kameramen dan wartawan yang menunggu di depan gerbang istana," umpat nya dalam hati.

Princess Elle kemudian mencari Queen Emma di ruang kerja nya. Benar saja, wanita itu ada di situ. 
"Well honey, you are here, " ujar Emma.
"Aku butuh bicara empat mata dengan mu," ujar Princess Elle pada Queen Emma. 
Kedua nya kemudian berjalan menuju ruang pribadi Queen Emma. 
" Ada apa? " tanya Queen Emma. 
" Kenapa kau merubah susunan nya? Apa maksud mu?" tanya Princess Elle dengan nada sedikit kesal. 
" Jangan berpikiran negatif dulu, Elle. Aku melakukan ini demi kebaikan kerajaan ini." 
" Kebaikan bagaimana? Aku tidak melihat tujuan apapun dari susunan baru ini, " sanggah Princess Elle. 
" Kerajaan ini sedang mengalami krisi ekonomi, rakyat belum menyadari nya. Aku harus memotong anggaran dana yang di gunakan kerajaan ini demi menutupi hutang kerajaan. Tidak kah kau bingung kenapa aku mengurangi penggunaan bodyguard. Sekarang mengganti petinggi kerajaan yang jumlah nya terlalu banyak dengan mentri yang lebih sedikit jumlh nya," ujar Queen Emma. 
Elle pun tertegun. Tidak menyangka kenyataan yang seperti itu adanya. 
"Aku minta maaf. Aku tidak mengetahui hal itu, " ujar Elle. 
" Mari kita buka lembaran baru, I need you to trust me."
Elle pun mengiyakan walau pun dia masih ragu akan hal itu. 
Elle pun meninggalkan ruangan itu. Ia kembali ke kamar nya. Merebahkan diri nya. Merenung sejenak. Lovely mendekati diri nya lalu mengendus - ngendus kaki Elle yang menggantung di kasur. Elle kemudian mengambil bola berbulu itu dan menaruh nya dalam dekapan nya. 
" Apakah Emma benar - benar baik? " tanya Elle pada Lovely. Tapi anjing itu hanya memandangi nya saja. Elle kemudian membuka instagram di telepon genggam nya yang sudah berhari hari tidak di buka nya. Ia kemudian melihat bagian explore instagram. Kemudian di sana muncul foto Prince Eric dengan Princess Alicia. Elle kaget melihat foto itu di unggah beberapa jam yang lalu oleh Eric dengan emoji bunga mawar. Entah perasaan apa yang sekarang menyeruak dalam hati Elle saat ini. Yang pasti diri nya tidak menyangka bahwa Eric akan move on secepat itu. Ada bagian dalam diri nya yang tidak terima melihat postingan itu, tapi bagian diri nya yang lain sadar bahwa Eric berhak bahagia. Dia berhak memilih siapa pun yang dia mau. Elle kemudian menutup aplikasi itu lalu melihat playlist lagu nya. Ia kemudian memutar lagu Hindenburg Lover - Anson Seabra.

Princess Elle menghampiri Lady Rosela yang sedang menikmati secangkir teh hangat di ruangan nya. Elle kemudian menarik salah satu kursi yang ada di meja berbentuk bulat lalu duduk di sana. 
"Granny, aku boleh tanya sesuatu gak?" ujar Princess Elle pada Lady Rosela. 
" Tentu saja, sayang. Kau boleh bertanya apapun," Ujar Lady Rosela. 
" Apakah salah jika seorang putri kerajaan menjalin asmara dengan mantan bodyguard nya?" tanya Princess Elle dengan nada khawatir. 
" Cinta itu pada dasar nya baik. Manusia yang membuat nya menjadi tidak baik." Lady Rosela menyeruput teh miliknya. "Kau mau aku menjawab sebagai mantan ratu atau sebagai nenek mu Elle?"
"Bagaimana kalau sebagai kedua nya?"
" Well, jika sebagai mantan ratu maka jawaban ku adalah iya. Karena media akan berusaha untuk menjatuhkan reputasi mu dengan mengorek latar belakang dari kekasih mu itu. Orang - orang akan berusaha mencari tau masa lalu nya. Mencari tahu keburukan nya.  Sebagai nenek mu maka jawaban ku adalah tidak. Kau harus mencari seseorang yang dapat membuat mu bahagia, membuat mu merasa nyaman, membuat jantung mu berdebar - debar saat melihat nya, membuat mu merindukan nya saat tidak bersama. Tidak peduli apapun status dia sekarang entah itu seorang pangeran, milyuner atau pun bodguard. Cintai lah orang yang mencintai mu cucu ku." 
"Terima kasih granny," ujar Princess Elle sembari memeluk nenek nya itu. 
" Apakah orang itu adalah pria yang berita nya tersebar waktu itu? " tanya Lady Rosela. 
" Iya granny." 
Lady Rosela hanya terdiam, seperti sedang memikirkan sesuatu. 
"Ada apa granny?" tanya Elle. 
"Tidak apa, honey," ucap nya sambil tersenyum pada Elle.

the crazy alarm chimed loudly, almost damaging my poor eardrums.

"Ugh!, ten more minutes," I groaned out loud and tapped my bedside table in an attempt to snooze the shrilling noise of the damn clock. I had barely slept at all, and today is the first day of my final year in Eastwood high.

And you don't want to be late on your first day....

My stupid subconscious reminds and I groaned out loudly again, I wonder what I was thinking when I stayed up all night reading ebooks. I yank off my snugly blanket and get off my comfy soft bed, hurrying to my bathroom while muttering prayers of thanksgiving to God. I'm already thirty minutes off schedule and I really do not want to be late for classes.

I pull on a new jean I got during the holidays and an old, black turtleneck blouse. This is very very different from the customary baggy clothes I normally wear around since I can remember, it's that way because mom buys my clothes. The thing is, mum buys my clothes but she doesn't know my size and she's never bothered knowing, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if she doesn't even recognise me anymore, it's just the way it is.

I bounce down the stairs with my backpack and helmet, as always the house is like a graveyard – empty and cold. I shake my head at the disappointment I felt, there's no getting used to that feeling of loneliness. I hurry through cereal as there was no time to make something warm and rushed to the garage to fetch my scooter, I could have taken a car considering the number of expensive cars in the garage just sitting there and collecting dust but I couldn't drive and even if I could, I won't still take any of them out, it's all just a constant reminder of how much my parents earn and how hard they work to earn that much and how I am left on the sidelines while they do their jobs, I know I'm pathetic already, you don't need to tell me.

I get to school in record time – just as the last warning bell goes off and dashed towards my first class for the day, I take deep breaths before walking in because as usual, today is going to be a very long and frustrating day.

"If it isn't the bookworm's girlfriend," Tess the hottest chic and Queen bee in Eastwood high announces the moment I enter the classroom with my head bowed, everyone laughs even if it isn't funny and I scramble for the nearest vacant seat, it just so happens that fate was playing with me this morning as I find myself seating close to Mark aka my longtime crush, coolest guy in Eastwood high and Tess's boyfriend, didn't I tell you today was going to be a long and frustrating day?

"Hey," He calls and all attention is diverted to me once again, why isn't the teacher here already? I mumble a 'hi' in reply and he raises a brow like he's trying to figure something out.

"Why ain't you in one of your sack clothes today?" He questions loudly so the class can laugh at his 'joke' and at my expense again, I just ignored him as usual and focus on getting out my writing materials for literature.

My stupid pencil just had to drop at that moment and Matt –the bookworm, had to be the one to help me pick it up.

"Oh my, take your nerdy romance out of the class, it kinda makes me wanna puke," Mark says in a dramatic way that sends the class roaring with laughter again. If it were sophomore year, I would have been in tears but now, I've just gotten used and immune to all the insults and crude remarks being hauled my way, though it still stings a lot when those insults come from my crush, there's just NP helping that.

I mutter a 'thank you' to poor Matthew and adjust my glasses, just then Mrs. Sharpens, our very young literature teacher walks in in all her alluring beauty.

"Good morning everyone, sorry for my lateness, I had to finish up something very important, With that said, our topic for today is historical literature, if you'll please bring out your text..." Class went just fine, save for the fact that 'the populars' made a joke out of Matthew, I and other helpless kids during class,Mrs. Sharpens could do next to nothing as she was too young to be taken seriously.

At lunch break, I make my way to my locker with books in arms and my heavy backpack after getting my schedule from the principal, only to bump into Matt in the hallway and all my books went flying into the air and all over the floor.

Joy.

"Sorry," he mutter nervously as I straighten my crooked glasses.

"It's okay," I reply and bend over to pick up my books, silently praying Matt would just go away before any of the populars finds us together, I didn't want trouble. But things doesn't go my way again as he joins me on the floor, helping me collect the scattered books, I sigh inwardly but stay silent, he is just trying to be helpful. Right.

We work in silence for a few minutes before he starts a creepy conversation, I hate conversations.

"What would you do if you get sucked up into a weird videogame?" Is that even how to start a healthy conversation?

"Huh?" Was all I could manage to mutter out in my bewilderment

All is not what it seems," I whispered with my fingers crossed and everything changed, literally everything....

"Anfey!" Christian smiled as he approached.

"Christian, why are you here?" Anfey raised his head in surprise.

"Mr. Ernest told me to." Christian laughed. "You really aren’t easy to find. It took me a while. Eventually, I ran into a girl called Jenova and found out you were here."

"What did Uncle Ernest say?" asked Anfey.

"Mr. Ernest asked me to accompany you home. He said he knew." Christian looked at Anfey.

"Oh, yes, on the way to school today I found Maris following me quietly. Christian, you know that I am just a magic apprentice. If they wanted to hurt me, I would be screwed, so I asked for protection from Uncle Ernest," Anfey justified. He intentionally brought up Maris, or else he wouldn’t be able to explain his concerns.

"How dare they!" Christian frowned. Since Maris had been driven out of Saul's home, they were no longer family. Christian would not allow Maris to harm Anfey.

"They both probably hate me a lot." Anfey shrugged his shoulders.

"Shameless people are everywhere!" Christian sneered. "They conspired against you first. If they want to frame someone, should that person just do nothing and wait for trouble? I think not! What do they want? Professor only kicked them out of his home, but I think that punishment was too light! If I was Professor, hum..." 

"Oh, I felt very awkward too. Not much you can do." Anfey smiled back wryly.

"But caution pays dividends. Anfey, do you normally come to the academy after breakfast?" Christian became Saul’s student long ago, so he rarely went to the Mage Academy. There was no wonder that he was not familiar with the school schedule.

"Yes."

"I'll accompany you to school starting tomorrow."

"Thank you, Christian." Anfey grinned.

"You're welcome! Let’s go. Anything else you need from school?"

"Nope." Anfey shook his head. They took their time and left the Academy side by side.

Although the day’s classes had been over for a while now, the nearby street was still quite busy. Anfey and Christian were carrying a quiet conversation while enjoying the night’s view. Anfey appeared to be poised, as he was used to following instead of being followed, but Christian acted a bit nervous. From time to time, he would look over his shoulder, seemingly looking for something.

"Christian, relax. There are so many people around, they are not going to bother us right now."

"I know—" Before Christian could finish, they saw a carriage in the distance rushing toward them. The people on the street dashed to the sides to make way for it. Anfey was more alert, but Christian also gathered his magic power and pulled out a scroll with his left hand.

The curtain in the cart was blown open while the carriage flew by Anfey and Christian. A sharp, hawk-like gaze laid on Christian, and then turned into a mild smile.

Though the carriage passed Anfey in a flash, he saw exactly what happened. He could not help but start observing Christian covertly.

"Why did he come back?" murmured Christian.

"Who is he?"

"Baery."

"You know him?"

"I..." Christian had recovered from the shock. He smiled and shook his head. "I do not know him in person, but I know his name. Everyone in Maho Empire heard about Master Swordsman Baery!"

Anfey chuckled. "I don’t."

"You... Go to the library and check it out. Books about him will take you days and nights to read!"

"That famous? Fill me in with a summary, please."

"He is the vice marshal of the Maho Empire East Corps, and the commander of the Death Roar Legion. I couldn’t list all of his meritorious services within a day even if I tried." Christian regretted that he negligently revealed the name of Baery. Baery secretly returned to the Sacred City, apparently a result of a new deployment by the empire. The spread of this news could be very unfavorable to the empire. But since Anfey already knew, Christian could not just blow it off. He needed to find ways to make it up. "Anfey, what I just told you, please keep it to yourself and don’t tell anyone. Anyone! Ok? "

"You can rest assured that I will keep this secret." Anfey rubbed his nose and concluded the conversation. He felt that Christian and Baery must have a tight relationship, and that Christian was lying. However, since Christian did not want to talk about it, Anfey needed to not pursue an answer. Especially since he was new in town, even if he wanted to collect information, he would not know whom to go to. Anfey planned to just drift along.

"Go here." Anfey suddenly pointed to an alley.

Christian immediately understood Anfey’s idea. Even if Maris had the nerve to do something, he would not dare to publicly take Anfey down in the middle of the Sacred City. Anfey was trying to lure Maris out. Gutsy move!

Christian followed Anfey into the alley. He turned to Anfey seriously. "You are not afraid of Maris’ assault?"

"I have you here, why would I be?" Anfey smiled. In fact, the truth was "I have Ernest here, why would I be?"

"Do not lower your guard," Christian warned Anfey.

"I don’t want to be too bothered by it. I just want to get it over with. Christian, if Maris really does attack, and there's a casualty... what should we do?"

"It doesn’t matter. Maris has become a joke. His deed was well-spread, and even the Mage Union wouldn’t support him anymore." Christian shook his head. "But... Anfey, are you sure it was Maris?"

"It has to be him."

"I didn’t feel any magic fluctuations." Christian frowned. "Did you just accidentally run into Maris?"

"He followed me along the entire street. It can’t be an accident," Anfey said firmly. "Let’s slow down. They might not have kept up with us."

Anfey and Christian reduced their speed. But even after they passed the entire alley and waited for a while at the end of the street, nothing happened. They did not sense anyone approaching them either. What a headache! Anfey felt himself being tracked for sure, and those people must be after him for something. The problem was that he had shown himself, yet the enemies were still hiding in the dark. Ernest could protect him for some time, but not every day going forward. If those people really had the patience, then they would find their opportunity soon enough.

"Anfey, it didn’t seem... there was anything." Christian looked at Anfey.

"Maybe they didn’t think today was the right time," Anfey muttered. As an assassin, he was used to hiding in the dark. Suddenly becoming someone else's target, Anfey was very unsettled.

"Anfey, do not worry. I will send you to school and pick you up every day. You have my protection. You will be OK."

Anfey grimaced. He was not a kindergartener and really didn’t need to be babysat every day. What he needed to do was find ways to solve this problem for good.

"Come on, let's go home first," said Christian.

"OK." Anfey nodded. Go home first, then come up with something.

In Saul’s dining room, Niya was sitting at the table and talking with the other students. Ernest was not here, as he had not yet returned. Niya was cheerful and was dancing around. She seemed to be very content.

Anfey and Christian took their seats, as Niya shouted, "Anfey, do not blame us for starting without you. It was Christian that told us not to wait."

"It’s alright." Anfey smiled. "Look how happy you are! What are you chatting about?"

"Miss Niya was talking about her future." Blavi laughed.

"Future?"

"Miss Niya said her future Prince Charming would be the most powerful, most handsome man in the the Pan Continent. He will protect her and bring her—"

"Shut up!" Niya disrupted him.

Anfey was confused. Hadn’t Niya's prince already been chosen? The second prince, Granden, wasn’t he? Why was she still daydreaming? "Granden—" 

Blavi kicked Anfey under the table before Anfey could finish his sentence.

"I am warning you all! No one will ever mention him again!" Niya's face turned cold.

Anfey snickered. Niya's mentality was still far from being mature. Her so-called "love" was just like a child’s new toy. Anyway, based on her reaction, she must still think very highly of Granden.

"Miss, Prince Wester is here!" A servant hurried into the dining room.

"Lead him to the living room and wait for me. I'll be right down." Niya pushed the plate aside quickly and ran to the stairs.

Christian and the rest of the students looked at each other. To be fair, Niya was blessed with exceptional beauty. Otherwise, she would not be known as the Sacred City Pearl. There were all young men here, and inevitably, they all more or less were fond of her. But the status disparity between Niya and the students, on tops of Niya’s bad temper, made everyone think twice about romance and suppress their inner desires. Reality proved that they were correct. Niya would never pick them for a relationship. The younger prince had just left, and now came the oldest prince...


A skilled but unfortunate modern-day assassin was killed in a freak accident. That night as I lay in my bed, my sleep was haunted by my past. Try as I may I couldn't get my subconscious to forget. Whenever I close my eyes I find myself back in Lagos 7 years ago, at that party, in that hotel where my world crash landed and I lost everything.

 My cousin Lucy was having her birthday party and we were there to celebrate with her. We went in a group with two cars,Christian's and May's. Me, Christian, Amanda, Sandra, Anna and my sister May. 

I forgot to mention, I have a sister,or should I say had a sister before I lost her too. I was the second child in a family of four. My parents, Rev.Dr&Dr.Mrs Williams,my elder sister May and myself. We were a Christian family. My father a man of God and my mother a medical doctor. We were committed in the church as was expected of the Pastor's children. I was in the choir and May was in the dance group.

 We were not the ideal family but a family nonetheless. Our parents hardly had time for us,they were busy being there for their sheeps and patients respectively and we their children were left in the care of strangers.But if it's any consolation, they made sure we didn't lack anything. They were hardly home so most times we were left alone with the staffs. We were only allowed to go out in the company of the driver and one of the helps who were under strict instructions never to let us out of their sight. So we always went straight from the house to school or church and back to the house again. Throughout high school and even up to college,that was our routine so we barely had any social lives. Between me and May, I was the lamb,she on the other hand was as stubborn as a goat. Always sneaking out to meet up with her friends and attend parties. I was the voice of reason but she never listened to me. She was always getting into trouble with mother and father and that somehow made it look like I was the favorite child because I was never scolded. But that wasn't the case. I just knew well to stay out of trouble. 

That very night was the first time I ever snuck out of the house. Lucy was my best cousin and I really wanted to be there for her. I knew if I asked my parents they'd refuse not minding that I was a 200level Law student in Unilag. I went to the club in the company of my friends and Chris,who was my boyfriend. Yes I had a boyfriend. Let me tell you a little about our relationship

I met Chris in church. His parents were devout Christians, wealthy and contributed largely to the church projects. He lived most of his life in London and returned after bagging his degree in Engineering. Upon his return he attended church with his parents. He was a well to do eligible bachelor in church and all the young ladies in and outside church wanted to have him. He made a lot of them lose their manners and morals grovelling to make him look their way. He joined the choir and boy did he sing well. His voice was amazing. Our number increased with an alarming speed the moment Chris joined the choir. Everyone ,including my sister May,who I knew very well could not sing to save her life,all of a sudden wanted to sing,male and female,all because of Chris. No the males didn't have a crush on him,they joined to keep an eye on their suddenly erratic women.

Everyone was affected somehow except me or so I made them believe. I've always been the traditional type. I believe a lady shouldn't make her feelings for a man obvious if she had any. That way if he approaches you,you'll know the feeling is mutual,if not you would be able to walk away with your pride intact. So I kept my distance. I fell for Chris the moment I laid eyes on him,I fantasized about him but I never spoke to him. While everyone else was falling all over him,I acted like the ice queen meanwhile I already downloaded more pictures of him than I could admit from his social media unto my phone. Imagine my and everyone else's surprise when he asked me out on a date. I of course responded casually, saying I'll think about it,but in my head I was doing a victory dance. That was how we started dating. Our parents approved so it was a smooth sail. Not all that smooth though. My church preached abstinence and I believed we were in sync about that but that wasn't the case.

My first kiss was with Chris. I could still remember that kiss vividly. It was on one of our dates 2months into the relationship. He had been a perfect gentleman for the whole of 2months,never even gave me a hug talk more a kiss. I wanted to be able to hold him and kiss him,but the thing I said about pride so I held back. Hoping one day he would make a move. And he did

I was not allowed to stay out so he always brings me home after a date. That night he brought me home as usual,I was reaching to unbuckle my seat belt when his hands reached towards my face. I didn't know what he wanted to do so I paused. His palms caressed my cheek. For the first time I felt the touch of the man I loved and the whole world stood still. I didn't want the hand to move ever again. I closed my eyes to savor that feeling, then it happened. His lips fell on my lips,his tongue gently prying open my lips and I melted like wax over fire. My whole body heated up,I felt hot and chilly at the same time. I felt a hotness and tightness in between my thighs, I was visibly shivering and tears dropped from my eyes. I kissed him back. I didn't have any experience but I've read a lot of romance novels so I put into practice what I've learnt. I tasted his lips,his tongue,I allowed my hands wander to the nape of his neck. I couldn't do much given that we were inside his car . I felt his hands on my bare back and my chair been lowered and that was when I jolted away. I didn't realize my top had been unbuttoned cuz I didn't feel it. The kiss lasted for all of 2minutes but to me it was over even before it began. His erection was visible and he was panting audibly. He made to reach for me again,it was obvious what he wanted so I placed my palm on his chest to stop him. It took everything in me to say no to him. I told him I wasn't ready and that I didn't want my first time to be with a man I was not married to in a car parked outside my father's compound. He apologized, pulled himself together, gave me a goodnight kiss,I went inside while he drove home. 

From that night our relationship took a major turn. I fell harder for him but I could feel his withdrawal. We didn't hang out as much as we used to,he didn't call that often anymore,when I called he couldn't be on the phone for long. He said he was busy and I believed him. I should have known something was terribly wrong,I should have seen our love was clearly one sided but I was so in love with Chris,I was consumed with showing him how much I loved him that I didn't notice he was not showing me any. 

That was the state of our relationship that night we went for the party. Almost everyone was having alcohol except me and Mandy. The place was filled up as expected. Lucy was a free spirit so she had many friends and they turned up for her. I watched as everyone danced and had fun including Chris who didn't pay me any attention the moment we got there. May tried severally to get me to drink and dance but I somehow managed to decline without offending her. The whole place was noisy and I was regretting why I came in the first place. This was not my setting at all. I was more of a drinking with friends,having intelligent conversation, cool music playing in the background kind of person. After a while I went to the rest room, shortly after I got there Mandy joined me. She like me was not really having fun. We agreed to live after a while and went back to the party together. I finished off the rest of my juice. After a while I asked Mandy to get our bags so we could leave together as the rest of them were nowhere near ready to go and I was feeling drowsy. As she went to get the bags I drfited a little then I couldn't remember anything anymore.

I woke up the next morning in a room in the club,naked under the sheet,blood on the bed and inside my thighs. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me what had happened. I broke down into tears. I screamed into the pillow. That was the beginning of the end for me.

That night has reoccurred in my sleep for the past 6years

You are likely to send or receive a valentine from someone on Valentine's Day. But behind it is much more than simply gifts and cards. There's a true-life story. It's a story which teaches us much about love, sacrifice and commitment— the true significance of the Day of Valentine.

     Emperor Claudius II Gothicus ruled the Roman Empire in the third century. His strong leadership and his tendency to go to wars and abuse his people led him to the so-called Claudius the cruel. Indeed, during the third century, he had so many wars that he had difficulty recruiting soldiers.

     However, a simple Christian priest named Valentine came and stood up for love. Although Valentine truly believed in the love between these couples and their right to marry, he challenged the emperor to appease the Church. At that time, Christianity was still under attack, and the Church sought to secure as many followers as possible. Marriage was a great way to do this, as one of the seven sacraments. He began to marry soldiers secretly before the Emperor had ordered them to go to war. The Secret Ceremonies Emperor Claud discovered. He threw Valentine into jail. Valentine was beaten with clubs to death and was beheaded.

     Some accounts state that this priest fell in love with the blind daughter of his prisoner and signed a letter he wrote to her "from your Valentine". Another story says that he performed the miracle of restoring the sight of his prisoner's daughter after his brutal death.

     St. Valentine gave his life in order to connect young couples in holy marriage. Maybe they murdered the man, but not his spirit. The story of Valentine's self-sacrificial commitment to love was legendary even centuries after his death in Rome.

     Finally, the Catholic Church decided to create a celebration in its honor. He got a sainthood. Of course, this story does not fully explain why Valentine's Day of Death became a special day dedicated to love of all things. For this reason, we look at the ancient Roman festival Lupercalia, a Pagan holiday that celebrates fertility and the coming of spring on 15 February. While the European folk traditions associated with Valentine's Day and Valentine's Day have been marginalized by modern Anglo-American customs that connect the day with romantic love, there are still some associations that connect the saint with the coming of spring. In the Middle Ages, birds were thought to be pairing in mid-February. Over the years, many such celebrations and festivals throughout history from different countries over years have contributed to the secular celebration that we now know and love. This was then associated with Valentine's romance. Despite these different legends, Valentine's Day is widely recognized as a day of romance and devotion.

The most amazing feeling in the world has been described as love that inspires you to do anything to make your lover happy in life. There have been some unusual love stories throughout the history of humanity. Where people have gone beyond the ordinary in true love and become a source of inspiration for future generations.

After a great deal of preparation, Danika begins her new digital dragon's life in a very small way.

They say the "Living Jade Empire" creates individualized quests. They say it can read your mind. They say you can find your heart's desire. They say that there's never been a game like it, and they're right but… they're also wrong.

The game is a data mine, built to retell the old tales that humans have been telling each other since language was invented. It doesn't read your mind, but it reads your search history, your favorites, and your blogs. The "Living Jade Empire" is literally crafted from fables, legends, fantasies, and maybe just a bit of stardust.

But in the end, will the game be able to figure out what Danika wants most? Will the desires of other players take priority? Or, will playing it change her, until she desires what it can give her?

A journey is always made up of many small steps, and this game has still only just begun.

Clint Klain was always called a good person by those around him, his parents and teachers, friends and neighbors, not one bad thing. They said he was the friend of everyone, and that was half true.
He was very wealthy and always helped those that needed it, but things aren't always as they seem.
 
After all, he hated everyone, he hated everyone equally.

When Clint was 16 years old, he had a dream one night where he talked to God of Death.
"If you can live your whole life without feeling any compassion or love for humans and keep people from discovering your real personality, I will bring you back to life and give you the power to dominate earth, and do whatever you want, in the open." Death Said.

Clint was an atypical youth, he had a severe lack of empathy and emotions, however he hid this behind expertly designed facades. For years he had those closest to him convinced he was a good, upright, and honest Christian boy like his adoptive parents always wanted. While his parents and his two dogs were the only ones he ever showed love for, he didn't agree with a lot of their views, nevertheless he just pretended to agree and went about his life basking in the love that only two people had ever shown him.

His birth parents were scum and degenerates, his father a drug addict and dealer was shot dead by cops after he killed two men in a deal gone wrong. His birth mother a meth addict and prostitute never cared for him, and left him with her uncle Larry, the man that would one day adopt him. His adoptive parents were in their early 40's when they adopted the 12 year old Clint, and showed him love and care, though a cynical child he eventually came out of his shell to only them.

But fate didn't want him to have an easy life, he went to a Christian private school from kindergarten to the 6th grade and was bullied to the verge of suicide. When his parents learned of it they pulled him out and home schooled him the remaining of the 6th school year and then to the 10th as well.

While he was being home schooled the mentality that only his parents and pets deserved his love and that all other people in the world didn't matter to him, they were just NPCs in the game he called life.
On the night before the start of his 11th year of high school in his hometown of Thorsby, Georgia he had the dream of Death. With his new mission set, he decided that he would wear the best mask possible. He became a paragon of virtue in his state, even known country wide as a huge donator to charity and as a helper to unloved children by running an orphanage, but the whole while behind his mask, he was cringing at all that he did and the people he helped, he hated it.

This is how his life of lies started and ended.
Now he found himself dead at the age of 105 unable to remember his death but he knew he succeeded. Finding himself in that dream space he saw from his youth, with Death's voice echoing around him, he was excited.
*clapping* "Well, you actually managed to keep it hidden for your whole life, even if you did live longer than I would have liked. I was getting bored of waiting though." said Death.
"No matter, let's get down to business, since you kept your end of the bargain and I like you I'll give you a gift, my blessing. you will be given the blessing of the Death God" he presented.
"Now, go make a show worth watching, after all, you no longer have limits." with that comment, Clint awoke on his bed in his parents home, realizing that he was back in his 16 year old body, the year of his meeting with Death.

And now... he can start over, with this blessing that Death gave him, he can live life the way he wants. A life of domination.


(AN:No romance until very late)

Author's Note: English is not my primary language so pardon my French :)) no to grammar nazi but i'm welcome to any positive criticism (you know what i mean) This story were created inside my sister's dream so all rights reserved to me cause she doesn't have wattpad nor does she likes writing so let's roll! By the way, this is a fast paced story since it's one shot so no to elaborated details.

Alexandra Sky Sandoval is a 16-year-old who loves staying at home reading eBooks, playing choices or some random RPG games, loves eating salty and junk foods and be lazy since school won't start at least for another one more month so it was really a backbreaking circumstance for her to be out and about. Well since her Mother, Angelita Sandoval, asked her that she needs company, whether she likes it or not so even though she is itching to read some eBooks on her phone she can't since her Mother 'lovingly' took her phone for safekeeping while they are now walking in a congested mall in Divisoria, Manila. Her Mother stops at every shop, keeps bidding on half the price of something she finds 'unique' with the saleslady. 

Sky just wants to sit back and watch her Mother go to anywhere she would like and wait for her to come back once she's done, however she needed to be by her side since she easily gets dizzy. She really wants to whine but since her Mother is having a good time she shuts her mouth. 

Angelita saw her daughter's scowling face so she asked her to sit somewhere not to dampened her mood. Sky sit somewhere near since she is still worried that her Mother will get dizzy due to heat, she just sits there while watching some news with the old ladies from a store nearby.

Sky wasn't really paying attention to the news, but when she saw her favorite anchor, Sabina Santillan, she sits up straight and listened carefully. The anchor stated "United Nations are afraid that food shortage will be just another problem the whole world will be facing if our population keeps on growing, rapidly. As you can see on our screen that as of today we now have, roughly 60 billion people and counting. So United Nations are making sure we will not end up with war just for food resources. Based on UN Philippine Representative, Ms. Santos, they are currently on an experimental stage of something big that will help our problem on population growth."

"I'm done. Let's eat before we go home." Angelita stated and drop half of the stuff she is carrying. She passes 15 or so plastic bags to Sky. Angelita walked to a nearby fast food chain with Sky in tow. Sky was thinking and guessing what does the United Nations' solution will be? They went inside the fast food chain happily since Sky will be having her fill after the dreading way of shopping.

Sky is in front of her phone, searching for answers on her homework that seems only her teacher knows. But since it's already 6 in the afternoon she needs to go down and have dinner with her family, she took that as a break and will continue later on. Her mother is a housewife since with her conditions she really can't do any hard labor work, her father, Angelo, is a taxi driver in a small company, her older sister, Claire, is a saleslady and a single mother of 2. They made sure that the second Earth will be livable, that once our people here on planet Earth go there, there will be houses, food sources, and such, everything that we lack here will be abundant there. All United Nations' Representatives and Government officials agreed that all of the white-collar worker will be the second batch to be send on second Earth. Families will be chosen carefully by our UN Representative, Ms. Santos and our Senators. Further news will be announced soon. Thank you for watching Z News." When Angelo turn off the TV, he was more than shocked and speechless, he also has hope. For his kids and grandkids, to have a better life, a better future. So, she immediately asks his youngest daughter to go search what will be the requirements so that they can join the program and be sent to second Earth. Sky made sure to search every detail she can get and find. She wanted to get to the second Earth with her family. This Earth is deteriorating little by little. Earth itself is filled with trash and toxic. People on Earth slowly giving in to their animal instinct, survival of the fittest, the greed to gain everything for yourself or for your loved ones. Each day, in their city, police will have found at least one dead body. It's not getting safe since sources are getting limited. Once she finds all the details that are needed to be part of the second batch traveling the second Earth, she wrote it down. Hope will be within sight.

"Congratulations Mr. Sandoval, you and your family will be part of the second batch travelers. We will be picking up your family at the airport the day after tomorrow so we can head back to the United Nations Headquarters and wait for the remaining travelers so we can take off to the second Earth." Mr. Rosario, a government representative in their city that are handling second batch travelers. "Thank you so much Mr. Rosario, it means the world to me, to us, that we will be joining the travelers to see a better future. Please keep up doing your good work." Angelo said with teary eyes. The representative left, so does Angelo, to share the good news with his boss and file a resignation and inform the good news to the rest of the family.

Angelo's boss, Pablo, accepted the resignation letter of his most diligent worker, he congratulated Angelo and bid farewell. He loses not just an employee but also a friend but still happy that his friend will be seeing a better future ahead. Since Pablo is single he didn't apply for the second batch travelers. Angelo went straight to his daughter, Sky's school for drop out as well as his grandkids. They will be starting their school at the second Earth since that was also part of the plan of United Nations. Once done, he texted his other daughter, Claire, to file an immediate resignation, and his wife, to pack their clothes, since UN promised them they won't be needing anything but a change of clothes since they will still be travelling to UN Headquarters, but once they set off, everything will be provided on second Earth.

Angelo made preparations, all of their other belongings will be given to some neighbors and charity but their house, as part of their contract, will be given to the government. UN stated that half of the people here will be going to second Earth the remaining half will stay here to make sure that our home planet, our original Earth will also have a second chance and become a better place as well. Two days after, the Sandoval's and other qualified families gathered at the airport. Some were excited, others are nervous and questioning, will the government really help them?

Mr. Rosario are making sure that every families are there, no one is left behind, after all the necessary checking, 100 lucky families are boarding the plane, a total of 500 people plus Ms. Santos and the other UN Representatives are boarding the plane to the UN HQ in just 3 hours.

Upon arriving at the HQ, everyone is amazed, it was a small island with a big building inside still with a wide greenery. The building itself is just up to 4th floor however it was wide, enough to occupy ¼ of the island itself. Batch by batch people were separated and being ushered to different entrance. The Sandoval family was led by Ms. Santos with five subordinates around him. He led them to a wide elevator that can accommodate around 30 people. But instead of going up, the buttons are indicating from Ground Floor to Basement Floor50. And Ms. Santos pushed B50.

"Right now, we will be going to the main lounge for the travelers. We will accompany you there for a small gathering so we can know who will be the people that will be staying with you." Ms. Santos informed everyone.

Everyone was talking, excited and nervous. It was exciting to travel to a different planet but it was also scary to travel to outer space and to live in a foreign planet. But right now, everyone felt that at long last, after the hardship they experienced, they can somehow live a stable life. As promised by the government they can live at the second Earth with ease, they all just need to help improve and maintain for the upcoming people that will also live there. Manual labor is needed; however, no one will be getting paid. But they will have free meal thrice a day as well as free education. Although from then on, no one is allowed to reproduce otherwise approved by the Council on the second Earth.

As they went to B50, all of them were advised to line up and washed up. They were given a grey jumpsuit, white shirt and undergarments. Once everyone was done, they were advised to go up to B49 for their last meal here on Earth. It was a joyous and loud celebration.

Pablo turned on his television to watch the world-wide show for the launch of a wide rocket ship that will travel all the second batch travelers to second Earth. There were two rocket ships to be launched today to send 500 people to the second Earth. He was happy for his friend. United Nations are airing not only their take off but as well as their travel from Earth to the second Earth to their landing there. They will also televise the first few days of the second batch travelers.

Pablo made sure to watch the travelers, to watch the show closely, so he can see his friend and be at ease. For exactly five days, it was being aired world-wide, the life of all travelers in the second Earth. He was happy to know that at last his friend found the peace and solemnity he was searching for and he deserved. He shut down his television and start working.

"Mom, it's our sixth day here, I am so happy that we are one of the people that are chosen to live here in the second Earth." Sky said as they plant trees and crops. Her mother smiled at her but suddenly she felt dizzy. Her mother came to her aid but she's slowly losing consciousness. She can hear some beeping noise as well as some whispers, like people chatting and laughing. She saw nothing but darkness but can hear some noises.

"It's a good thing that now the population are reduced, we can now somehow live a better life. United Nations really done a great job with our ordeal."

"I agree and it's nice that we are part of the remaining people here. Those people are still lucky they were poised the moment they finished their foods and now with the HyperVR they are dreaming together of a happy life not feeling any pain."

"True. On the 6th day their body will have multiple organ failure, dying on their sleep. The HyperVR is great as well as the video editing of the rocket launch that people thought really happe. But there's really nothing they can do since people are carelessly giving birth and making our planet overblown with population. The remaining here in Earth should be the rich, the laborers, the genius, the United Nations workers and the governments. And I'm so happy to be part UN workers, at least, we and our family are safe."

"I second the motion. Those people believed that there is a second Earth. As if? It's like 0.00000001% in hundreds of hundreds of hundreds of billion probability. But it's a good thing they believed it. At least after 6 days, from 60 billion people we now have 59 billion. So, in a few months or a year, everything will be a whole lot better."

As the noises died down, Sky's eyes open slowly, mortified as she sees that her body was filled with apparatus, with people around her, with the same predicament.
