Hello! 

I wrote a story, previous to this one. If you read the other story, I beg you not to kill me. I was learning and I wrote everything raw. Just unfiltered ramblings.

In a way this story is connected to the other one, but you do not need to read that other one to understand this. I also suggest you don't, unless you want to bleed out of your eyes.

This is just a standalone story for me to write in the meantime like the other one. I learned a lot and I plan to put it into practice. I'm not sure how long this story will be, but I'll put more thought into and it will be short.

"It's my turn. Obelisk the Tormentor! Want that?"
"…Tomcat, why does it seem like we aren't playing the same game here?"
The two humans and cat were in an intense match on a figurative card table. Although Mai Dong was the landlord with Tang Yue and Tomcat being peasants, the latter two weren't united. The cat and man fully showcased how the Chinese were experienced at internal strife, but inexperienced at fighting their real external enemies as the two peasants began fighting over trivialities.
Tang Yue had useless cards—a 3 and a 4. Looking up at the cat's face, the latter wore an unperturbed and unfathomable expression.
It was the most terrifying matter to play cards with an opponent like Tomcat. This was because it could backstab you regardless if you were an ally or not. It all mattered if it was happy, and you never knew what was on its mind. Yet, its ability to memorize cards were extraordinary. It basically knew which player had which card towards the end of the game.
You couldn't control it, but it could see through you.
Tang Yue's biggest card was the Black & White Joker. This was his trump card. He believed that all of them had rather scattered cards, so the possibility of a Bomb existing was very low. There was no other card that could beat his Black & White Joker.
"A pair of Ks." Mai Dong threw a pair of cards. "Tang Yue, do you think we are nuts?"
"A pair of Ks… I want it. A pair of As!" Tang Yue struck the screen and threw out two As. "Why do you say so?"
"The space station is about to crash, and here we are playing Fighting the Landlord." The girl giggled. "An analogy would be a cruise ship finds itself leaking in the middle of the ocean and about to drown, but the sailors just gather together to play cards the entire time. Anyone will find this crazy, isn't that so?"
"In essence, card games are mathematical games—at least to me. This is a competition and deception based on probability. Since time immemorial, humans have had a soft spot for such games. Do you know in which era such similar games first appeared?" Tomcat said indifferently. "It happened more than two thousand years ago during the Pre-Qin period. Its name is Liubo, literally 'six sticks.' In a certain sense, it's one of the first card games in human history."
Tang Yue pricked his brows up.
"To humans, such entertaining activities are very widespread and they are infatuated with them. From the Arctic Circle's Greenland to South America's Peru, as long as there are people, there will be playing cards. No matter what difficulty or disaster you face, no matter how pressing the situation is, to the point of being on the brink of death, you will sit down and say to anyone in front of you…" Tomcat said, "Let's have a game of Gwent."
As Tomcat nagged on, it threw a pair of 2s, preventing Tang Yue from continuing. Finally, Tomcat went easy on Mai Dong. This cat was an ingrate, an enemy spy who would reach deep into the working class.
It didn't seem to care that it should work together with Tang Yue to defeat the landlord. It attacked whoever it wanted, making it exasperating for its teammate.
"So we aren't mad," Tang Yue said. "We are Archimedes."
"Archimedes?" Mai Dong didn't understand what he meant.
"It's said that Archimedes died under the blade of an ancient Roman soldier. Back then the soldiers had charged into Archimedes's residence while he was contemplating a mathematical diagram. The last words attributed to him is 'Do not disturb my circles!'" Tang Yue explained. "If the Universe were to be destroyed the next second, what would you say?"
The girl thought for a moment.
"Do not disturb my cards!"
"Do not disturb my fish!" Tomcat threw out a card.
"Do not disturb my police!" Tang Yue was never one to go with the flow.
The two humans and cat kept throwing out cards one after another, and soon, Tang Yue had few cards left.
He still had a few single cards, including a pair of 4s which he hadn't found a chance to discard. In addition, he had a Black & White Joker.
The Colored Joker had yet to appear and its owner was a mystery. Of course, Tang Yue felt as though everyone was an enemy with that most powerful trump card in the hands of any one of them.
Mai Dong still had five cards.
Tomcat still had three cards.
Tang Yue frowned. If he could clinch victory this round, he could recoup most of the Happy Beans he had previously lost. If he lost this round, his already broke account would only turn for the worse.
Tomcat clearly didn't care about the outcome. It was the real landlord, with hundreds of thousands of Happy Beans. Losing a few rounds wouldn't leave a dent.
"Tang Yue, it's your turn," Mai Dong urged. "What are you doing? Why are you in a daze?"
Tang Yue looked at the screen in front of him. There were a total of four cards, two 4s, and a single Eight of Spades, and a Black & White Joker.
He was in deliberation. This might be his only chance to throw the pair of 4s, but the pair was just too weak. If the rest had a pair, they could immediately break his flow, and that would doom Tang Yue, preventing him from using his trump card. Nearing the end of the match, it was clearly unwise to throw something this weak. F*ck, damn Tomcat. I'm not only dealing with Mai Dong. I still have to be careful of Tomcat's attacks, making them gang up against me.
Should I throw it?
Should I make a bet?
Should I bet that Mai Dong and Tomcat don't have any pairs and are unable to trump my pair of 4s?
If I don't throw the pair of 4s?
If I don't, there will only be the Eight of Spades and the Black & White Joker… I'll first throw the Eight of Spades before the Black & White Joker?
Tang Yue overruled the choice. After the Black & White Joker was thrown, he would be under the mercy of his opponent's Colored Joker. Once he was blocked, he would hold the two pathetic 4s to death.
"A pair of 4s." Tang Yue threw his cards.
Tomcat glanced at it and shook its head.
"I can't take it."
Mai Dong's voice sounded after it.
"Neither do I."

Tang Yue was delighted. Mai Dong and Tomcat didn't have any pairs in their hands after all. He wanted to throw his Eight of Clubs next, holding a Black & White Joker in his hand. The victory was at hand. It was in the bag!
"Eight of Clubs!"
"Colored Joker."
The Colored Joker was indeed in Tomcat's hand.
After it threw out the Colored Joker, it had two cards left. Furthermore, they weren't the type that could be thrown out at once. In terms of single cards, nothing was bigger than the Black & White Joker in Tang Yue's hand.
Mai Dong and Tang Yue passed as Tomcat threw a Queen of Hearts, leaving one card in its hand.
Following that it was Mai Dong's turn. No matter what she threw, there was nothing that could stop Tang Yue. With victory in the bag, Tang Yue could already see the Happy Beans flowing into his account.
"Five of Hearts."
Mai Dong threw a card out.
Tang Yue was stunned. Tomcat had thrown a Queen of Hearts. But you threw a 5?"
Following that, Mai Dong continued throwing out cards.
"Five of Diamonds.
"Five of Spades."
"Five of Clubs."
"Finally, a 10." Mai Dong cleared all her cards and clapped. "Mr. Kunlun Gambling Saint, I've won."


Payload specialist, Tang Yue, who is a mechanical and electrical engineer by training, is left stranded on Mars when he receives news from his AI robot assistant, Tomcat, that Earth has exploded. He believes himself to be the last human in the Universe.
Turns out, he is only the last man in the Universe. Botanist, Mai Dong, had been left on the United Space Station (USS) orbiting Mars, to await Tang Yue's ascent to the USS before they make their journey back to Earth. But now, it's impossible.
Join the trio's quest for survival as they attempt to unravel the mystery of Earth's disappearance.

As I waited, I slowly began shifting my location to one of those tall branches in the trees. I passed with some difficulty, as even if I can float to a certain height, I can't fly you see. But never fear, because [Soul Force] IS HERE!

As I began wondering about how to climb the tree, I had an idea. Using the Shapeshifting of [Soul Force], I created some ghost-like tendrils from my wisp-like form, and with such, I began climbing one of the tall trees. 
It was arduous, my tendrils didn't have that much strength in them, just enough to pull me from my floating height to one of the thick branches. (And the feeling of having tentacles is very strange, like having boneless arms, but maybe it can be useful in bed- I mean, battle, yes, battle.) As soon as I set my figurative feet on the branch surface…

'Aah, the addictive feeling of power coursing through me. Okie Dokie, now all I need to do is wait till one of those behemoths is almost dead, then I will finish him…' And then I waited, and waited, and waited. '…WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE BEASTS! WHY DON'T THEY JUST DIE ALREADY!! I'M WAITING HERE FOR A WHOLE HOUR! HOW CAN THEY HAVE SO MUCH STAMINA!?' 

I was just baffled with how long these beasts could go on a fight, in the sixty minutes that I waited, they almost tore each other multiple times already. In turf wars they just snuggled a little then the Dreadfull pickle will go John Cena on something. The aftermath is: they're weakened, the perfect scenario for a Kill steal. 

But it's not like things didn't change. Both of them were already panting with wounds all over their bodies, but even then, the bloodlust just intensified the longer the battle went on. After some more Waltzing, they finally reached an epilogue, with the lion falling to the ground, exhausted. 

*GRAAAGAGAGAAAAAAAOOOO*

The triumphant roar of the wyvern resounded, pushing the dust from the surroundings, and giving me the best view of my target. With the free time I obviously wasn't just waiting, how could I? A gamer in nature would grind the hell out of his skills when he gets some free time, wouldn't he?

[*Ding!*]

Reaping the rewards of my grind, I could now manipulate my mass to form an infinitely more complex construct than tendrils, and now, my new baby is aimed directly at a certain bastard, just according to keikaku. 'Then… NOW!'

'BOOM HEADSHOT!!' Good ol' memes aside, that really was a good shot. The weapon I made is nothing more and nothing less than a sniper as it was my favorite weapon in every FPS I played. What, you thought I just played RPG and etc? For your information, I'm a well-cultured player, and as such I mustn't judge a game for its gender!

As chivalrous as it sounds, the truth is that the time my PC broke, I borrowed an old notebook from my neighbor, and the only thing the ancient creature could process was the equally old CS. So, much to my despair, I was forced to play it and surprisingly fell in love with (Sniping bastards from afar) the gender. After that, I did what I do better, played every single game of the gender and similar, obviously, after repairing my PC.

And about my weapon? I modeled the sniper to resemble a Dragunov, the Soviet babe, Mama Russia's best gift for Snipers. And befitting my headhunter title in games, I got a magnificent headshot… In the scaly bastard, obviously. 

Oh ho, so you think I should have reaped the lion first? Oh my little grasshopper, if I did, how would I kill the furious Big ass Wyvern after? I could just land this shot because he lowered his guard, thinking he had already won, otherwise I would be pretty much screwed when he evaded or blocked my ghost bullet. And don't worry, I had plans for the lion already, but just after I finished the Vitas-in-scales that was actually thrashing around in pain. Soul damage is scary… 
While the wyvern was rolling around (babe around), its head was leaking fountains, not of blood but of soul power. Soul power, by my humble research, is the power the soul collects during the life span, not its structure or its true essence. The soul damage I just inflicted the wyvern, is dealt to the soul structure, which is more like a cardiovascular system that pumps soul power instead of blood, and the center is in the head. And I shot his head, where the soul power is more concentrated. 

The scene was somewhat magical. Jets of multicolored wispy plasma were gushing from its head, the once fearsome amount of pressure of the wyvern being reduced by the tics of the clock. How the mighty has fallen, indeed. The wyvern kept struggling, but before he could somehow stop the 'Animusray,' he was already in half the capacity. What a fearsome tool soul damage is, to reduce a behemoth of a being to one struggling to stay on its talons. 

After getting up, the wyvern was wary, scanning everything in its surroundings, searching for the source of the damage he just received. Sadly for him, it was already too late. 'System, activate [Soul Siphoning]!' without delay, my soul mass began to compress and compress, till my basketball-sized wisp reached a size of a grape. A powerful force surrounded me like I had just become some sort of soul black hole. But it seems it wasn't all, as after shrinking I began to spin like crazy. 

Immediately after it, a type of pounding resounded from me. With the first, the wisps from the wyvern, which were floating around, came rushing to me. With the second, they shot like bullets to me, so fast that they left a trail of light after then, like a bunch of shooting stars, finally hitting me. The feeling is, how can I say it? It's like being burned from inside out, but half the pain is pleasure, (I'm NOT an M. I guess) filling me the with burning feeling of power. But it was not over. 

With the third *THUMP*, I felt the strange force changing the scenery.  The wyvern, who was astonished by the scene, began tripping over his own talons while the lion was being pulled from its spot on the ground. The two behemoths were pulled to me, but fortunately for them, they got a hold of some trees. A futile struggle for what came after. 

With the forth *THUMP! *, The trees where they were holding began to break, loud *CRACK* noises came from their roots. The wyvern, who managed to stop the leaking soul power, had a sour surprise in this one. The fountain of plasma came back to life and began draining him so quickly that in a bat of an eye, he fell lifeless in the ground, not being pulled anymore. 'System, stop. That's enough for now.'

As suddenly as it came, the pulling force stopped. The lion fell again on the ground, even more, exhausted than before.

[Congratulations host! Your soul power rose from 500 to 940! Lesser Fire Dragon Soul acquired! New attributes have been unlocked!]

'GODDAMMIT!! I SHOT ALL THE WAY TO LEVEL 5!! AND THERE'S STILL EXCESS OF ENERGY!! HOW STRONG WAS THAT WYVERN?! Wait… I CAN EVOLVE TOO?! DID I BECOME A POCKET MONSTER NOW?!?! WILL SOMEONE TRY TO CATCH ME?!' Have you ever thought about being the pokemon being captured? Well, that was the first time I had such an epiphany. 

'Ah! Fuck it, what matters now is that I'm stronger, let's get so strong that even Chernobyl's Ashe Catchum from the horny dragon show will not dare come close. And that reminds me…' I then change my focus to the lion laying down on the ground, even more exhausted than before. The tree in which it got to hold was all cracked and with deep claw scars. Well, they destroyed half the forest already, so what's an extra tree in the equation. 

'Let's catch him' At this moment I felt like a certain forever 10 years old kid, eager for a new sla-, I mean, friend. How the table has flipped, huh? At this moment you may be thinking 'But Vasta-chan, you don't want to be ensla-, captured, so why would you do it to him?' have you ever come across a legendary in a random bush? Didn't you want to capture it too? So, let's get to the hypocritical pit together, mah Bros and sis, sisses, sies, siesta? Yeet it, whatever is the plural of sis. (Does it even have a plural?)

As I moved towards the Lion, I expected him to just keep laying down, like a fallen colossus, but it seems it's not that easy. As soon as I got out of my miraculously (plot) intact branch, the lion got back on its paws weakly and began growling towards me. But it's growl was strange. Like it was not just a threat from a cornered beast, it was trying to transmit something beyond it. 

'Pl… please… run… now… don't… look back… !' 'What? Why would I have to run?' The fight probably dreaded the surrounding fauna for as long as my senses can pick, so there's nothing to be afraid for now. 'And wait a minute, how can I understand it?'. But turns out, the plea was not meant for me.

I heard something getting near us, and it came up with a very unexpected thing. Or to be more accurate an unexpected encounter. 

*Swaash*

From the bushes, three wild orange-skinned children appeared! But that's not the most shocking part, the real shock came with what they said after. (And the fact I could somehow understand the native language from underworld aborigines)
The taller child came before the towering lion, and to my surprise, opened his arms in front of it, like he was blocking me. "DON'T HURT MAMA!!" And then he dropped the nuke¹.

Bai Qiao suddenly realized she was still too young; she thought she was someone who knew how the script went. However, she felt that Super Chen was the true master, while she had only read the title page.
When Hero Guo and Su Xiao came back to their senses, Super Chen rehashed the current situation for them.
Games were something which students were most willing to spend all their time, effort and even money on to transform their souls. Whether it was online games or single player games, it was always fun to be the first to play a new game.
"The game's requirements are so high. We don't even get a 98K when we land, and we have to discover the plot ourselves?" Dopey Guo patted his thigh. "This… is quite interesting!"
Super Chen analyzed the situation in front of them. "Currently, we don't know what the main plot is, we don't have any supplies, and we can't even understand the language used in the game. The game should let us choose the language at the very beginning of the story – if everything is in a foreign language, how can we clear the game?"
"Language…" Little Peanut murmured to himself. "Then what should we do now?"

To be honest, this was a novel feeling for Fang Xing – he never thought there would actually be a day when he would feel a sense of reassurance from someone apart from Wang Ling.

As for Bai Qiao, she didn't transform into anything; she made her legs disappear and turned into a ghost. This was the advantage of an artifact spirit; she could get rid of her legs anytime.
When No. 60 High School's monster team entered the city, the monster team of lizard soldiers guarding the city didn't notice anything unusual about them.
Because they spoke in a different language, Super Chen observed the streets for a while before taking everyone to the entrance of a bar.

Super Chen: "Whoa, damn! Hero Guo, look! This NPC actually has expressions! And it's actually angry? This game's algorithm is pretty amazing!"
Wang Ling, Fang Xing and Bai Qiao: "…"
After that, Super Chen grabbed an alcohol bottle which another monster was drinking, and smashed it over the lizard bartender's head.
The lizard bartender flew into a rage and instantly turned red. 
Super Chen: "Wow, what the hell! Everyone, look! This lizard bartender can actually get angry! The NPCs in this game are so real!"
The lizard bartender broke out cursing. Although they couldn't understand a single word the other party was saying, the look of anger was the same everywhere in the universe — a thick gathering of qi in the dantian, spitting saliva, and a voice as loud as the firecrackers set off during the Chinese New Year.
Seeing Super Chen's frivolous appearance, the lizard bartender actually took out a gun right away and aimed it at him.
"Hahaha! This lizard even took out a gun, but can it shoot me for real?" Laughing, Super Chen reached out and directly wrestled the gun away from the lizard bartender.
Wang Ling, Fang Xing and Bai Qiao: "…"

Rakesh… Rakesh, wake up its 9 :30 just thirty minutes till your school starts, wake up "let me sleep for five more minutes moon just five minutes"  again tucking the blanket over his head Rakesh pleads to his mom.
Mrs Sharma was trying to get her son up from his slumber, this was his senior year at high school and the final exams were knocking on the door, yet her son never studied even an hour at home, but wasted time video games and other useless stuffs and now he is even late for school.

After trying to wake her son up for 30 minutes, Mrs Sharma was at her wits end and in her fit of rage she poured a bucket of cold water over his head after pulling the blanket off of him. With ice cold water all over his body Rakesh woke up from the shock, saw his mom with the bucket.

Mrs Sharma was waiting there with a smiling face to see her goal being achieved, yet a few seconds later her face had an even more furious expression as things did not go as she expected. Instead Rakesh just kept sleeping after wiping his face with the blanket and sliding to the dry side of bed.

Furious Mrs Sharma could not take it anymore and came down the stairs with figurative hot steam rising above her head looking for someone to vent her anger.

Knowing very well what's happening on the upper floor and what will become of him if his betterhalf sees him Mr Sharma hurriedly put on his office shoes and ran towards the door as if running for his life. Only after starting his car did he breathe a sigh of relief and felt bad for the person on whom his wife will vent her anger.

Mrs Sharma does not find her husband on the ground floor or any living being. She calls her best friend Mrs Batra to talk bad about her son and husband which has become a routine. And as a routine Mrs Batra also starts badmouthing her son and husband the same way.

During the mean time Rakesh has come down to the leaving room listening the routine chit chat between his mother and Mrs Batra.

He is already dressed in the school uniform with his school bag and grabs his breakfast bread and jam which has already been made by his mother and tries tiptoe to the door and leave for school quietly without making any noise while keeping attention to every single movement of his mother as to not draw any attention.

But accidently his hands touch the decorative vase kept near the exit, the vase falls down due to the impact and keeps falling for time which seemed like eternity to Rakesh. He tried utmost to his ability to catch the vase but as he saw all his effort in vain he made the dash to the door for his life and ran for a good few hundred meters only then he breathes a sigh of relief.

Mrs Sharma hearing the sound of something falling down and seeing the shadow of her son sprinting out of the door, drops her call. She did not seem angry anymore instead had a bitter smile on her face.

She thinks about her who had never been a trouble maker, and has always been a good student even though she had never seen him studying in home, he always came in the top ten in his class for which she had always been proud. Everything about him was good except for his laziness and disinterest in putting the extra effort. 

Although she had never seriously worried about her son's future she always worried that her son is never going to live up to his potential.

Thinking about the uncertain future of her son and his easy go lucky attitude she has no option rather to pray in her mind" Ooh Mahadev* please bless my son with some SAD-BUDDHI*". Then she goes off to do her chores.

In the meantime Rakesh who was hurrying to the school does not have the faintest of ideas of what fate has in store for him. He, whose name will be known to all of humanity in a few years of time.

It was a ceiling that he had never seen before.
After Roland opened his eyes, he saw an enormous statue of a woman above his head. The statue was made of black rock, with vague greenness flowing on the surface. But when he observed it more carefully, the greenness was gone.
Roland sat up and found himself on a blue stone platform that seemed like a ritual table for sacrifices in the medieval age. It was cold and rough.
There was a unique fragrance in the air. He looked around and saw strange grasses burning below the statue of the goddess not far away behind him. The grasses seemed to be wormwood, albeit with more teeth at the edge.
Wait… fragrance?
He could smell and even feel? Roland touched the ritual table again, sensing its roughness and coldness. He then sniffed hard. This time, he smelled both the strange fragrance of the grasses and the bitter scent of the stone building itself.
Am I really not hypnotized, but in an immersive game? It feels so real… Roland looked at his hands. They were fair and slim, as expected of the hands of a spellcaster.
He pinched his arm. There was pain… but not too obvious. It came as no surprise. After all, before he entered the game, he had read the official announcement which stated that the pain in the game was only one-tenth of that in reality.
Roland rose from the platform. He looked around and realized that he was in a building made of rocks. There was a goddess statue, a ritual table, and several rows of chairs up ahead. Judging from the arrangement, it was likely to be a chapel.
Jumping from the ritual table, Roland observed his body. He was wearing gray and brown clothes made of linen, which was not exactly comfortable. His shoes were ugly and thin. He could feel the cold stone below his feet as he stepped on the ground.
It's very real… Roland sighed and touched the ritual table. The stones felt so real. The granules on their surface were identical to reality. He did not expect the game to be a legitimate immersive game exactly as Penguin Corporation claimed, not a VR counterfeit that intended to fool people's money.
When was such great technology developed? And how could it have been developed by Penguin Corporation? Roland sighed with mixed feelings. The immersive cabin that he bought with fifty thousand bucks was definitely worth it.
He was about to observe the environment some more and adapt himself to his new body, when the ragged door of the chapel opened.
While the door was still creaking, a hunched old man walked in. His eyebrows were long and white and dangled to his slender cheeks. His eyelids were so loose that they almost covered his eyes. He was wearing a long white robe that had a symbol of a tree at the center.
Before he joined the game, Roland had studied the basics of this game world from its official website. If he recalled correctly, the clothes were the standard uniform of the Church of Life. Only the reverends of the Church of Life wore them.
The old man was surprised to see Roland at first, but then he relaxed.
The change in his expression, both the movement of his facial muscles and his eyes, was exactly like that of a real person, instead of an NPC in the game.
In the VR games that Roland had played, facial changes had always been a flaw in NPC behavior no matter how real the NPCs seemed to be. Even though NPCs' expressions were abundant thanks to motion capture, one would inevitably feel horrible when they changed their expressions.
But right now, Roland felt that he had met a real person… Was the newcomer another player?
He dropped the idea very soon. He was among the first batch to join the game. It was impossible for a player to become a reverend so quickly. Also, more importantly, players all appeared as young human beings in the game, and what Roland saw was a withering old man.
However, the old man was too real. Roland felt that he was a real person even though he did not talk and was only staring at Roland.
His eyes, his stance, his blinking eyes, his moles, his dry and yellow skin… He could even see that the old man's temples were vaguely throbbing because of the flow of blood.
Roland was not involved in the game industry, but he had played a lot of games, including Pac-Man at the beginning and the exquisite VR games right now. Even though the games today could make NPCs look vivid, they still lacked the critical essence, which was the soul!
Yet, the old man gave the feeling that he was a living person with a soul, instead of an NPC built with cold data inside a human skin, when he was doing nothing but standing.
Is this a guiding NPC? The official website did not mention anything about a guiding NPC… Confused, Roland asked, "Hello, mister. What is this place?"
The old man was stunned for a while. Then, he waved his hand and spoke in a language that Roland had never heard.
Even though he could not understand, Roland had inferred from the old man's countenance that he was expressing his inability to understand Roland.
Shoot! Roland cursed the producer of this game for their pursuit of perfection. Had they set up different languages for the NPCs in this world? If the introduction on the official website was to be believed, there were dozens of countries and races in this game world. If every country and every race had their own language, how much work would have to be done?
If it was true, Bli**ard and Ub*soft would be nothing but kindergarteners in front of Penguin Corporation.
Though dissatisfied, Roland had a solution. He remembered that he had pre-learned Language Proficiency, a level-two spell, when he created the character in the game.
In many of the sandbox games he played, although everybody used the same language, the players of different countries or sides would hear and see random words if they did not know each other's language thanks to the setting of the games.
Roland felt lucky that he had abundant game experience. He summoned the system in his mind. He was clumsy at first. After all, an immersive game was different from a VR game. But soon, he got the hang of it and found Skills on Magic Book. Then, he locked on Language Proficiency.
A strange chart popped up in front of his eyes, with a lot of blue nodes on it.
A blue node that seemed to be the starting point glittered and shot a streak of redness to another node in the blink of an eye.
Is this a spellcasting chart?
While Roland considered the possibility, the red link between the two nodes suddenly began to tremble. Then, it trembled harder and harder, and Roland felt a stronger and stronger headache.
What's going on?
Roland had played games for twenty years, but it was the first time he played an immersive one. He had no experience and did not know how to deal with the situation.
Several seconds later, the red link finally broke apart in the violent quakes. Before that, the pain in Roland's head was already insufferable, as if needles had been stuck inside.
The moment the red link broke apart, Roland's consciousness was ejected out of his body in the game. Then, he discovered, to his surprise, that his game character's head exploded.
The headless corpse fell heavily on the ground, blood splashing everywhere.
Roland's consciousness stood next to the corpse as a transparent soul. He was so surprised that he froze and did not know how to react.
The old man's hair, face, and clothes were covered with blood. He opened his mouth that had few teeth left, stunned.

After a couple days with that clean freak brother-in-law of hers, Sujin is exhausted. Jungwoo, even though banned from cleaning the office, still cleaned. Well, more like organized. If anything was crooked or out of place, he would very carefully make it neat and even. If he saw something and knew that he wouldn't be able to clean it, Jungwoo would glare at the dust or crumbs or whatever it was until they left the office. Once Sujin heard that she would be training with her older brother JaeSeong, she felt relieved. 

⌠Finally! I can get training with JaeSeong. No more hanging out with the Prince of Cleaning!⌡

Little did Sujin know that her quiet, techie brother JaeSeong was just as bad as Jungwoo. Only, he wasn't a clean freak, he was a video game geek!!!

Sujin did not expect to see this when she walked into the IT office. 

Employees playing video games?????!?!?!?!!!?
NANANIIIIIIIIIIIIIII?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The employees didn't even greet Sujin when she came in, they just continued playing their video games. Bewildered by the sight, Sujin went around to a few employees trying to ask them questions, but no one would answer. Their soul focus was the video game on the screen in front of them. Sujin soon realized why they wouldn't answer, or thought she realized the reason why.

⌠They must be afraid of getting in trouble...⌡Sujin thinks. 

⌠Why would they be so scared to get in trouble though? One branch of our company focuses video game development, so it's expected that the IT department tests video games. Why are they so scared? Or are they not scared??⌡

But, when Sujin took a closer look at the video game on the computer screen, she was shocked! This wasn't the game that JaeSeong presented during the latest press conference, it was LOL. League of Lords! 

⌠What is my brother doing?⌡ Sujin asks herself.

Then, it dawned on her. Her brother was using the employees to help him win victories. She slapped her head. She just discovered the extreme habits of Jungwoo, and didn't want to imagine what JaeSeong's habits would be like. Then out of nowhere, a the LOL theme song started playing. All the employees got up and put their hands to their temple. Like a scene from a movie, the employees waited for their boss to arrive. 

CLICK! The office door opens, and a tall man strides in, a foam sword in one hand, and black stains on the other. The man has handsome features, but half of his face is covered in black war paint, preventing anyone from looking at his handsome face. His tie is loose and his long ebony hair falls over one eye. Some employees gasp as this man walks by them, but they remain at attention. He makes his way to a glass desk in the middle of the room, and takes a seat in his throne (a swivel chair). The employees turn towards their leader, bow, and let out a war cry.

"PrivateSKYLORD483 reporting sir! Sir, in exactly five minutes, we have a duel with our rival, Lord Thief's Clan. SIR!" An employee dressed in an aviator outfit says.

"Hmmmm," the leader thinks. "All right. We shall commence our attack in a minute."

"But, sir—" the aviator begins.

"Lord Thief likes to play dirty. So we'll beat him at his own game." the leader says.

"Yes, sir!" The employees say. 

The man stands, taking the foam sword in hand. He raises the foam sword above his head shouting, "TO VICTORY MY FELLOW COMRADES!!"

The employees release a war cry in reply and scream, "TO VICTORY!!"

All at once, the groups sits down at their desks. Their hands hover over the keyboard, waiting for the first command. The boss sits at his desk, his eyes on the digital clock, which is projected onto one of the office walls. 

"Ready," he shouts. All hands are on the keys, anticipating the command. 


"NOW!" the man commands. 

And just like that, the sound of keyboard clicks fills the office. No one has their eyes off the screens. There's an occasional shout, but most employees remain quiet. Concentration is key in the IT department. One wrong click, and it could be over.

"Hey SpiritWalker123," one says. " Cast some better spells! We won't be able to get any loot with your weak, pathetic spells!"

"PrinceTechie67! Revive me! Revive me! I'm in the red zone! Help!!!" One employee panics. 

"TheUltimatelyAwesomeMr.Kitty! NOOOOOOO! TheUlitmatelyAwesomeMr.Kitty is down! REPEAT THE KITTY IS DEAD!" 

Gasps are heard when the employee announces that TheUltimatelyAwesomeMr.Kitty is dead. How could one of the best players be down already????!! The keyboard clicks and clicks of the mouse increase in intensity as the employees become anxious since TheUltimatelyAwesomeMr.Kitty is no longer in the game. 

⌠TheUltimatelyAwesomeMr.Kitty?? What?????? What??????? What???????? WHATTTTTTTTT?????????????????????⌡Sujin thinks to herself as she tries to decipher this foreign language.

"WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!!!!!!" An employee screams.

"OHhhh! NOOOO! Reporting sir, the boss is extremely hard to beat! We've just lost four wizards!!" Reports one employee.

Meanwhile, the man sitting at the desk is uncomfortably quiet. He hasn't said anything since the battle started?!? As soon as he hears the employees' panicked voices, his hands start flying across the keyboard. Sujin watches as this man takes out more that twenty enemies in a matter of minutes. He hits the last key on the keyboard and sits back in his chair, sighing in relief. He not only handled the boss, but he handled the rest of Lord Thief's clan! 

⌠Our boss is amazing!⌡All the employees think to themselves.

Although the employees and boss are celebrating the victory, and having the time of their life playing video games, Sujin is still confused. She's retreated towards the furthest corner in the office, slowly inching her way towards the exit. She prays as she slowly inches away hoping no one will notice—

"STOP RIGHT THERE FELLOW COMRADE! COME JOIN OUR HONORABLE CAUSE!" An employee dressed in gladiator get up says.

Sujin points to herself. Silently praying that this man speaking in that foreign language is not talking to her. 

"YESS! I'MMMMM TALKING TO YOU FAIR MAIDEN!!" The gladiator screams.

"WILL YOU JOIN OUR PRINCE IN HIS NOBLE CAUSE? WILL YOU FIGHT FOR THE LIGHT AND HELP BANISH THE EVIL!?"

⌠Does he think I understand this foreign language?⌡Sujin thinks.

⌠Well I guess I can give this a try….⌡

Sujin nods reluctantly, "I'll join your cause."

That was a Big MISTAKE.A BIGGGGG MISTAKE.

Sujin is forcefully dragged to a desk and is seated in front of a computer. She's really really confused now, and rather uncomfortable, since all the employees are staring at her. 

⌠A computer?!? They expect me to know how to play that game?!?!? Oooooooo, HECKKKKKK NOOOO. There is no way in Hell, in HELLLLLLLLL, that I am going to play that game. That is not a human language ok! THAT IS AN ALIEN LANGUAGE THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL!!!! THERES NO WAYYyyy. NO WAYYYYYY. NO. I REFUSE!⌡

But, of course, Sujin has to play the game 'cause things just never go her way. 

Sujin starts to play the game. More like attempts to. She can't play video games to save her life. All the employees are shocked.

⌠I've never seen someone so bad a video games . . . . ⌡ They think to themselves.

"OKAYYYY. FAIR MAIDEN, PLEASE TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THAT COMPUTER." The gladiator shouts.

⌠Thank GOD!⌡Sujin thinks. ⌠I don't think I could have played for a minute longer!⌡

"I've never seen anyone with such bad video game skills," One employee whispers.

The boss's gaze snaps to where his sister sits when he hears that comment. His heart is hurt seeing that his fellow comrades have hurt his little sister. Knowing what he must do, he stands up and walks towards the desk his sister sits at. When he's about halfway there, he stops. Now, JaeSeong is usually very quiet, and prefers not to yell, but what he did next caught everyone off guard.

"DON'T YOU DARE DISS MY LITTLE SISTER LIKE THAT!" JaeSeong bellowed.

The whole office stopped at the sound of his loud voice. Everyone was shocked. The employees were shocked that their leader had yelled, but Sujin was shocked that the man with the black war paint on his face was her brother!

"Oppa," Sujin says anxiously, "It's okay. I really don't know how to play video games though. So, you don't have to be mad Oppa. The employees were just stating facts."

"NO!" The man yells. "NO ONE! I repeat NO ONE, WILL EVER DISS MY SISTER. UNDERSTOOD!?"

The employees all nod and quickly resume with the keyboard and mouse clicks. 

JaeSeong walks over to Sujin, and takes her into his office. Once inside the office, he closes the door.

"Sorry little sis," he says his voice a bit hoarse.

"It's ok Oppa. Don't worry. It's a new experience, of course I would be bad. Now, let's get back to the office. I'm sure your COMRADES are waiting for the next attack." Sujin giggles. 

JaeSeong smiles, and holds out his arm. Sujin links her arm through his, and they go back into the office to conquer the world of League of Lords and anything that awaits.

Sujin is a CEO in training. With four overprotective and estranged brothers, who else could be chosen to be CEO? But, Sujin doesn't have long. With her three life dates on the same day, she doesn't have a long time left to live. On an Earth in a parallel universe, life is peaceful and there is no suffering. Life Dates are very important on this Earth because they can determine what benefits you receive from the government. One life date tells when you will accomplish a life goal. The second tells when you will meet your soulmate, and the third one tells you when you will die down to the second. But, there are always unlucky ones, like Sujin. All was well in her life until the year 2027. Sujin's life dates all occur on the same day in the year 2027. With little less than a year to live, Sujin is desperate for time. She scrambles to get things done and hopes that there is enough time to enjoy with her loved ones. Join Sujin's time on Earth as she prepares for her death that is just around the corner.

The next day, or so Altair guessed, the same man who pointed at himself and said "Master" to her came to visit, along with the same man and woman flanking him.  Seeing them enter only soured Altair's mood as she was being fed by the doctor.  She ended up giving them a look that seemed to dare them to say something about being fed like a baby.

That glaring expression on such a toothless tiger only caused them to mentally laugh at how cute she was.  Since she appeared to be nothing more than a child, any looks of anger were easily brushed off as being the mood swings of a child.

The doctor, a different woman from before that was almost as beautiful, didn't pay any attention to them as they entered.  She remained focused on giving Altair bite after bite of her food.  It was as if the other people in the room didn't even register to her.

The visitors brought a big white box that was floating above the ground behind them.  It was about the size of a large dog and generated no sound when it moved.  Altair wanted to know what it was and how it could just float after them without them even touching it.  She wondered if it was the same Magic they used to animate those giant corpses from before.  This caused the pain of the language barrier to hit her again in full force.  But that wasn't the only thing that stopped her from asking.  Every time she opened her mouth by any measure the doctor would robotically put more food in it.   She couldn't even complain without getting her mouth forcefully stuffed.

The trio walked over with the box following behind them and stared at Altair.  Altair's brow rose towards this action of theirs.  And when the doctor shoved another bite into her mouth she suddenly felt like a sideshow to them, causing her to frown.  She still ate the food though.  It was still delicious but Altair maintained a look of displeasure because they seemed to be enjoying the show.

They continued to watch her in silence until the all the food was gone, at which point the doctor took the tray of food and left without a word.  The moment she was gone, the smiling man spoke in the language Altair didn't understand while pointing at the box, "This device should help you understand what we're saying and vice versa."

The box hummed suddenly after he finished speaking and drew a cautious look from Altair.  Altair wasn't sure if the box was going to be dangerous or something but the humming stopped after a short time.  Once it stopped Altair looked back at the man with a blank expression.  This caused his smile to stiffen as he hesitantly asked, "D-Did you understand that?"  The translation machine should have worked just now.  She should have understood everything he just said.

The box hummed to life again but Altair didn't look at it this time.  She sighed and relaxed in the bed while turning her head away.  She didn't know why they came here with that humming box but she suspected they were making fun of her for what they just witnessed.

The man walked around to be in Altair's sight again and said, "Say something already."  This caused Altair to frown.  She didn't know why this man was bothering her with words he obviously knew she didn't understand but she was getting tired of it.

The woman who came in with him spoke in a mocking tone with a sneer towards the man, "Perhaps she knows you're a pervert lolicon and doesn't want to waste her breath on scum like you."

The man's expression soured and he glared at the woman while saying, "Don't take the joke too far."
Altair's brow twitched as they started talking with each other in front of her.  Couldn't they do this somewhere else?  It was obvious that they didn't like one another even without knowing what they were saying and were feigning cordiality.  Altair suspected they were acting this way instead of shouting because she was present and they thought she was a child.  She couldn't blame them for it but found it incredibly irritating to hear them make veiled threats in a language she couldn't comprehend.

Altair sighed and said, "Can you people bother someone else?"

This drew everyone's looked in the room toward Altair all at once.  They all had shocked expressions on their faces as if they couldn't understand what just happened.

As it turned out the box was a translation device that connected with a person's Spiritual Self to give them a translation of what another person said.  The key being that all parties had to be connected.  The problem with this device in Altair's situation was that she didn't have a Spiritual Self.  Spiritual Self's were a forced evolution by mankind when they encountered aliens and Altair, who was from a different world with different humans, obviously lacked that trait.  Thus the device was completely useless at translating what Altair said and that shocked everyone present in the room.  It didn't help that those in the room had no idea how the device worked or what it needed to work.  To them it seemed that the technology that had just been working had suddenly failed since they were insulting each other in different languages the entire time.

Upon speaking to each other a few more times they quickly ruled out the fact that the device was broken and then came to the conclusion that it was because the language that Altair was speaking was so foreign it couldn't translate it.

This made their job a lot harder.  With the help of the translation device it was very simple and easy to teach someone a new language.  They could reduce the time needed to be able to speak, read, and write a language to only five months with it.  It was a revolutionary machine.  But that machine was useless to Altair so they had to teach her the old fashioned way.  They also didn't have much confidence in teaching their language the standard way because they didn't even have to learn it like that.  They had learned through the machine themselves.

They received this job straight from Renald, the head of the Marnithok family.  The conversation they had with him cost the base two thirds of its yearly power consumption just to have the conversation at a delayed rate.  This cost the Marnithok family billions of credits.  It was safe to say that Renald was putting a lot of stock into being able to converse with this child that appeared on that planet.

The problem was that the trip would take about eight months to get to Ordin Prime.  They didn't have any real expectations on being able to teach the girl much.  In fact they didn't even know her name or if she had one yet.  She wasn't actually speaking to them much and it was proving troublesome to communicate with her.  They were starting to wonder how they should do their job because if they failed they were pretty sure that Renald would either send them to a long forgotten hole to join in being forgotten or straight fire them.

It wasn't that Altair was being unsociable.  It was more that she didn't like the look of the guy who called himself 'Master'.  She had grouped the other two with him into the same group as him.  That made her not like any of the three and she chose to ignore them as much as she could.  Even if they were Gods she still didn't like them because it just reminded her of the probable fate of her race.

Altair didn't have much luck getting free of her situation.  Throughout the entire trip she was stuck in that same room with one of four female doctors.  She was at their mercy when it came to anything biological related.  She was also forced to listen to their gossip even though she didn't understand a word of it.  

The three 'unsavory' individuals were at their wits end.  They tried everything they could think of to get Altair to pay attention to them as they tried to teach her their language.  They attempted to bribe her with candy.  They tried getting her attention with games.  They tried scolding her for ignoring them.  They tried withholding her meals as punishment only to find the doctor going around their back and feeding her while ignoring their protests.  Everything they did only backfired and resulted in Altair estimating them to be completely useless.

It was really their fault though.  When they gave Altair candy they neglected to actually feed it to her and just put it on the bed in front of her.  She still didn't know what those things were as every time the doctor would come by later she would take them and throw them out without a word.  The games they brought made even less sense than their actions with the candy.  All of the games they showed to Altair to try and get her interest were adult games that the unsavory people found to be interesting.  To Altair, it was something that she couldn't even understand.  Being that her body was only as developed as a ten year old she had no sex drive or desire at all and found the games to be sleep inducing.  Them scolding her did nothing as well because she didn't even know why they would shout at her.  She also didn't understand what they were shouting so it made little difference.  

Contrary to what the unsavory people thought, shouting at Altair did not scare her at all.  She had been through hundreds of battlefields and killed tens of thousands, or even possibly hundreds of thousands of Humans.  A few Human looking creatures shouting at her did nothing.  It would have been far more effective if they used a colossal giant though.

Altair Maxwell was recently appointed the leader of the Demi-Human Survival Coalition.  Unfortunately, she ran into an ambush that very week.

Walking into a horrible trap planted by her supposed allies, Altair found herself left with no option but to use her Teleportation Magic in a risky gamble or end up in a situation she found worse than death.

The place she came to was filled with colossal giants of metal that could completely destroy armies with a single swing of their weapons, flying creatures capable of leaving the world, and... the Gods that the Humans killed the Demi-Humans to see.
