People seem to believe they're trapped within the typical 9-to-5 career track, but in fact, there are a lot of options. In the US, we're rarely exposed to the options we have outside of our nation's borders (minus the military). You just have to be willing to take some risks and work a bit harder.


An incomplete list of options to get your ass abroad and exploring the world:

Join a volunteer organization. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and putting yourself in some extreme environments, then volunteer organizations, both NGO's and otherwise (i.e., Peace Corps) are always looking for help. You'll most often be sent to developing countries, but some developing countries are surprisingly pleasant to live in (Thailand, Colombia, Philippines, Peru, etc.). Once you're on the other continent, bouncing around from country to country is rarely more than a $50 bus/train/plane ticket away.

Teach English. The pay is low and the work is hard, but this will get you a paid trip to another continent and often with really good vacation time. Asia and Latin America are the go-to continents for this with no experience or foreign language required. If you teach in Europe, you're going to have to know the destination language at the least. A friend of mine taught English in South Korea for six months, took the money she made and went to India for three months, then taught in the Philippines for another six months and then bounced around Southeast Asia for a while after that. Not a bad experience.

Find a source of mobile income. Poker. Stock/options trading. Freelancing. Consulting. Internet marketing. Blogging. Graphic/Web design. Writer/journalist. These are all professions I've run into on the road. These are all forms of income that can be earned regardless of location (and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few). Some of them have a steep and long learning curve, but there's never a better time to start than now.

Start an online business. This is a massive topic which other people can cover much better than I ever could, but internet startups can often be created and managed from anywhere. In fact, there are a number of startup "incubators" around the world where internet entrepreneurs congregate in places with high quality of life and very low expenses (Chiang Mai in Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, Medellin in Colombia, etc.).

Convince your company to let you work remotely. Not an option for everybody, but if you're a programmer, developer or designer, then this could be an option for you.

Get transferred overseas. Another option if you work for a large international corporation such as Procter and Gamble or Yahoo! is to get transferred to various locations around the world. You can often gain a lot of vacation time by working in other countries as well which will allow you to explore.

Find odd jobs as you travel. This is easy in some countries and impossibly hard in others. But finding jobs in hostels, bars, and restaurants in cities you travel to can be done to support yourself wherever you go. A number of people do this. It takes time and effort and obviously is quite stressful, but it can be done.

Work on a cruise or for an airline. Seriously. These people have amazing flexibility with their time at sea and where they get to go. I met a woman who worked on a cruise in Costa Rica and she had been to over 75 countries, living in a dozen for more than six months. She was in her early 30's. The same concept applies to working for an airline but to a lesser extent (and far more jet lag)

Start your entire career abroad. In a number of developing parts of the world, particularly Asia, there's an extremely high demand for university-educated Westerners for high-paying management positions. Countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, and Singapore, are importing a lot of western talent. Not only can a recent college graduate skip multiple rungs on the corporate ladder by moving to one of these countries, but they can see a major quality of life increase at a lower cost-of-living. Let's just say that making $60,000 a year in Shanghai goes a LOT further than making $80,000 per year in New York City.

You can combine a number of these strategies. Sometimes you can just take off with your savings and begin to figure it out as you go. Someone can leave with their life savings, start a blog on the way, do some freelance consultant work online, work some odd jobs here and there, and by the time their savings run out, they have a modest location-independent income. But as always, Google is your friend. There's no shortage of websites and resources on NGO's, internet startups, marketing, expatriation, backpacking, vagabonding, etc.

haaaa~~~ after triple checking my video that i was posting up, i released a very tired sigh, looking towards the ceiling in a daze my question was is this what i will be doing for the rest of my life?

struggling to pay my bills, to do the same thing over and over again day in day out?

to have to get two 8 hour jobs to make ends meet? 

haaa~~~ i released another as i looked at the calendar.... i can finally get another game to stave off my boredom somewhat...

i finally finished what i was making and to now get that game i have been waiting for the fire emblem heroes a dynasty warrior like version of the fire emblem franchise not that i cared i just wanted something that can ease my boredom for now until the next "good" game comes out....

while i wanted to play ff15 online my computer is too old and it can't handle that kind of game...

so i have to resort to other things... after taking a shower, got some fresh clothes, and getting a quick bite...

i left my house to go to the game stop near me to get one unluckily for me i was too late and the game was already sold out so i just got myself the english version of la pucelle ragnarok from nippon ichi software....

while i was very sour and disappointed that i couldn't get the game was trying to get at least the game that i have now has nearly endless game play so i'll make do for now....

it was a genuine wish from my very heart as i was about to scoff at myself for such a thing i heard a voice that was filled with amusement and eagerness "heh alright"

i looked around to see who said that only to feel a surge of heat and pain run through me i gasped as the taste of burn flesh linger in my mouth then another surge had ran through me causing me to flying into the air spinning landing on my back...

i was in a daze trying to figure out what the fuck just happened however a bolt of light came flying at me letting me know what actually happened as i experienced another surge this one however was stronger than the previous two vaporizing my head and torso as i thought to myself....

damn it i won't be able to play that game....

Day in and out of life of doing the same stuff in life... it became a boring life to the point i thought to myself why do i even bother...

Except a few audience members who were delving into the truthfulness of the video, most audience members just deemed the video as entertainment and didn't care about whether it was true or not. For them, a happy mood after watching the video would be enough. So, the comments left by these audiences were usually very amusing with the humor in English. 
"I've got a disease that is only curable by watching kittens dancing. If you don't keep uploading new videos, you will be responsible for my death." –was this kind of like a death threat? 
"I love this video, but I don't understand Chinese nor English. Can somebody please add subtitles in Spanish? By the way, this comment is completed by Google Translate." 
"Thanks for the vlogger's work. I was worrying that my boyfriend had no interest in learning Chinese, but after showing him this video, he had booked plane tickets to China... though I cancelled them right away. Oh, by the way, I would love to watch this video several times, but right now I need to have a showdown with my boyfriend. I need to know who is more important to him? Me or the kittens?"—it seemed that a fight was inevitable. 
"This video is totally nonsense, but I like it!" 
"So, where can we purchase these kittens?" 
"Thanks for the brilliant video, the background music is also very good, I have recommended it to my friends."

As Song Bai counted, there were at least eight similar comments, plus the replies to these comments. Many people were hoping to know where they could buy the dancing kittens. 
Of course, some people replied that the video was just for fun and advised others not to take it too seriously, for there were no such dancing kittens in this world. Even if the video was true, they would have to travel a long distance to buy them in China. 
The most annoying yet funny phenomenon was that, a lot of people couldn't tell whether the video was recorded in China or Korea, which was a typical issue among the Westerners. 
"If it is in a pet shop, all the kittens are for sale, right? How much does one cost approximately? I will buy one next month even though I need to collect scraps to make more money."

He swallowed nervously. He was well aware that if this girl was his competitor, he would have no chance to win.

As Furuhashi Sakurakyu read about all the information in this current era from the internet, her curiosity about today's world continued to grow. However, her energy was quickly depleted as she was overwhelmed by all the new information. Soon, she began to feel sleepy.
Even though a specter did not need to sleep, but she could sleep if she wanted to. After all, sleeping would recharge her energy.
When she looked at the clock, it was already nine o'clock at night. Yet, Kimura Kazuki was still answering the recruitment test.
Furuhashi Sakurakyu rolled her eyes at him and intended to turn off the phone. However, she accidentally pressed the wrong button and entered his mailbox.
The next moment, she saw the names of Furuhashi Harunaka, Furuhashi Natsui, Furuhashi Akino, and Furuhashi Fuyuno. She quickly rose from the bed, and her sleepiness had instantly gone away.

The first day of J in the Twelve Army headquarters was something that she had never expected. At first, she was against staying inside the Twelve Army Headquarters simply because it was too far from CLP Hospital.

Why not? First, there's the clinic where she can still practice her profession.

Secondly, there is the training facility where she can hone her skills in target shooting and Muay Thai and just today, she found out that Jacob ordered to put up an archery shooting range in the vicinity.

Jacob was working on his office reviewing and signing papers while giving instructions to James. 

J decided to stay in the clinic for a while after the meeting with the 12 officials of the Twelve Army. After staying there until 6 PM, she finally thought that it is enough for the day. Arthur left her to run some errands but J knew that Arthur must probably be in the basement.

She called him to say that she has to talk to him before she went back 'home'.

As soon as she reached the 3rd floor of the main building, Arthur was already waiting for her outside the elevator.

"Miss J, you need something?" Arthur asked as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.

J nodded her head. "I need you to contact an online news website. Give them the information we have and I want it released online at midnight today." J's tone was determined.

"Okay, you have anyone in mind?" Arthur asked as he followed J who had started walking toward Jacob's office. She has started to get familiar with the maze-like hallways of the building. 

"Hmm...How about Lotus Exposed?" J asked Arthur although she had already decided about it. 

"Not bad," Arthur replied.

J had already reviewed the profile of Lotus Exposed. It is an online news website that is ranked as number one in the country with over 80 thousand viewers monthly. It was the first news website to extensively use social media for news distribution.

With the popularity of online news websites, fake news is unavoidable. And in just a couple of years, there were multiple online news websites that were charged with libel for publishing fake news. Some of them went on a hiatus while others had permanently ceased operation.

But, Lotus Exposed remained their good reputation as the longest-running and most trusted online news website in the country.

So J personally chose them. She knew that if they passed them the information they got on their hands and published it, the public will trust to believe it.

She knows that Lotus Exposed will make their own investigations before they publish news to know if the news is legit or not. But, J doesn't worry. She will give them all evidence and even if they do their own investigation, it will only end up that their piece of information is verifiable.

"Okay, I'll personally send the information and evidence to them tonight." J doesn't have to say that they have to remain anonymous. All they have to do is to entrust the information to them and then after that, they don't have anything to do with it anymore. They just had to watch as someone's reputation is being ruined by her own conduct.

I said, "Elisa, why is no one here?"

"I don't know..."

"Does everyone think class is cancelled today? Is it some kind of public holiday for elves?"

Elisa and Anastasia shook their heads.

Then: a ring.

Anastasia reached into her purple robe and pulled out a smartphone.

Huh? These elves have smartphones too?!

I said, "Anastasia, how did you get that?"

She said, "This is the new AiPhone XS Max with a 6.5-inch OLED display, 1 terabyte storage and the newest Z12 Bionic System-on-a-chip (SOC) quad core processor. It also has a waterproof headphone jack. Us elves put great importance on the headphone jack. The sound quality of a Bluetooth connection just isn't there yet."

That sounded less like an answer and more like a phone review.

"Yes, I know what that is, but how did you get it?"

"I ordered it online from your world and had it delivered."

"Right..."

She unlocked the phone. Adjusted her monocle and read a text message.

She looked at me.

She said, "Something unexpected happened."

Kurata Seiji is an English teacher. He has taught many students. But he has never taught elves. Until now. 

Kurata-sensei is summoned (read: kidnapped) to another world by Elisa. Why? Because she and other elves want to learn English. Why? Because they discovered a magical thing called Netflicks. 

He is tasked with teaching a class of elves. And he discovers that every elf has become hopelessly addicted to the Internet, Netflicks and video games. These elves need much more than just an A in their exams. They need some basic life lessons. 

Can Kurata-sensei go above and beyond the call of duty?

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I hope all is well, dear readers. 

I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank every single one of you for supporting the novel up to this point. It has truly been an honor writing on this platform. Throughout my bitter life, never did I imagine I'd start writing and have people supporting me in the process. I cannot help but say I'm in debt for your undivided support. :')

As for the novel status, we are now past the half mark of Volume 1. Some may be curious as to how long I plan on making the series. I'd say 10 volumes minimum, each being at least 50,000 words (about 50 chapters on Webnovel).

Many may find this unexpected, but my goals for this story is beyond the ordinary. I plan to enter this work into Japan, which will lead to an eventual Manga + Anime adaptation. How do I plan on doing that exactly? Have no worry, I've done my research. Lots of research.

To simplify matters, the plan is to grow on English platforms such as Webnovel, Royal Road, Tapas, Moonquill and even Reddit if I'm lucky. If I attain a certain level of popularity and approval, that will be my beacon to hire a translator to get the book(s) into Japanese and enter them into one of their major web novel competitions online. Winners do get promoted in their magazine and at one point, will be elevated to get adaptations. Lots of anime (some poorly written ones as well) are attaining recognition from these competitions and are getting adaptations, especially in the past few years.

I have no doubt that this work can reach that level someday. Sure, I'm bound to fail, that goes without saying. That won't alter my goal in the slightest. I'm willing to do any and everything possible to make this happen. Even if it takes my entire life. Even if I don't earn a dime. Even if I must sacrifice the time with my friends and family. Even if I must continue to lose sleep. Even if my grades have to be discarded. Even if I have to quit my job. Even if I need to spend thousands of dollars more in investment... I will stay firm towards this goal. This has always been but a dream to me. I will no longer allow it to stay that way, rather, I will make it a reality.

Whew, I've said a lot it seems. Putting all of it aside, some kind souls might wonder: how will I be able to support this cause? 

It's a lot easier than you think, believe me. I have absolutely no intentions to ask money on a PayPal, nor to demand on a platform like Patre0n. I refuse to get this book contracted with locked chapters too, believe it or not. 

All I ask for is that on this platform followed by other websites in the future (will let everyone know once I start publishing elsewhere) that the following is done:

- Voting with powerstones daily
- Sharing this book in as many ways possible
- Staying connected with daily chapters
- Commenting, reviewing and suggesting

That's all I kindly request from everyone. The most important part is sharing the book. Whether it be on a group chat, a server, a friend in real life, a private message to someone you know or even a platform online such as Reddit etc. 

While the support has been phenomenal so far, I really could use more views and overall recognition – especially for the major goals I talked about! Every single viewer, share, collection, rating, review, vote and comment counts and brings us a step closer to the endgame. ^-^
