sorry because I dropped this novel, when I read this original novel I knew that I was going the wrong way, so I dropped this novel and made another if I had the chance.

English is not my first or second language. I am still learning since 2010...

Tang Xi just sat down on her seat as if not hearing her. She then took out the English textbook that Little Five prepared for her yesterday, and prepared for the next class. Seeing Tang Xi ignore her, Peng Yu snatched her English textbook, stood up and looked down at Tang Xi, saying coldly, "Are you deaf? Go sit in the last row! I don't want to sit with you."
Tang Xi raised her eyebrows and took a look at the book grabbed by Peng Yu. Her eyes had a cold gleam and she gave a cold smile. She then clasped her arms against her chest, crossed her legs, and leaned backward as she said calmly, "I'm not deaf, but I can only understand human language. Who do you think you are?"
Hearing this, the students who was holding their breath and listening to them, all gasped, and Peng Yu turned pale in anger. She shouted, "How dare you!"
"Yes, so what?" Tang Xi interrupted her, and looked up at her with a straight face, saying, "Let's make it clear, since Mr. Pu asked me to sit here, I'll sit here. If you don't want to sit with me, you can find another seat to sit, or shut up." With that, Tang Xi smiled, and reached out to take back her book from Peng Yu's hand
Peng Yu took a deep breath and glared at Tang Xi, saying threateningly, "Do you know who I am? Even your uncle won't dare mess up with me, let alone you!"
"Oh, sorry, I don't know who you are." Tang Xi said and casually put the book on the desk, laughing. "I never turn to my uncle for help when I'm bullied." She usually turned to her brothers for help. Her father was too busy to deal with this trivial matters. And it was better to ask her brothers for help… As for her uncles… they were either big-shots, or… well, forgot it. It was simply impossible for them to pay attention to these trivia. 
Peng Yu squinted at Tang Xi. "We'll see. You'd better not cry when I revenge on you!"
Tang Xi stretched herself and looked lazily at Peng Yu. "Okay, I wait for you. But remember to take revenge on me after next Wednesday. I'll go to Paris tomorrow." She then opened the textbook, and at this time the bell rang. 
Seeing this, Ning Ke sitting in the first row touched his trouser pocket, and then took out his English textbook.
In the English class, Tang Xi performed excellently. Her proficiency in English greatly impressed the English teacher. In the end, the teacher only spoke English. Every time she asked a question, she would pick Tang Xi to answer. Therefore, only a few students understood what the teacher lectured. Tang Xi stood up and sat down so frequently in the class that even her thigh hurt. 
After the class, the English teacher walked up to Tang Xi and said with appreciation, "I had heard your old class master said you were very talented at foreign languages. Now I know what he said was true. I have also learned Russian. I think we can discuss about the experiences on learning foreign languages." 
Tang Xi stood up with a smile and said modestly, "Mr. Wu, I'm flattered. It's just that I'm interested on foreign languages, so I watch more foreign language programs than others. If there is a chance, I'd love to discuss the learning experiences with you." 
Mr. Wu nodded with appreciation, and turned to look at the other students, saying, "Hand your dictation papers to the commissary in charge of studies, and I'll check them later." With that, he looked at Tang Xi with a gentle smile, saying, "Let me see yours." 
Tang Xi nodded and handed her test paper to Mr. Wu. The latter took a look at it and smiled as she said, "No wonder they said you were a genius. Your answer is all correct."
Tang Xi smiled. "I previewed the classes last night, and memorized the vocabulary."
"Very good." Mr. Wu said and left. Ning Ke, the commissary in charge of studies, drawing a long face, began to collect the students' test papers. Suddenly he frowned, and asked out loud, "Who is the representative of English class?"
"Me." A boy with glasses stood up and asked, "What's up?"
Although this Ning Ke was several years younger than him, he was a bit scared of him for some reason… 
Ning Ke took a look at the representative of English class and asked impatiently, "Isn't it the English representative's duty to collect the English test papers?" With that, he put the test papers in his hand to the representative of English class and said, "Give your test papers to him in future. I'll not be in charge of this. Don't bother me unless there is something exciting."
The students looked at each other with doubt. Then why did you accept to be the commissary in charge of studies?

Tang Xi warmly responded and then took Chen Ziyan's arm to beckon her to go to a corner. She then asked Chen Ziyan in a low voice, "Have you asked your mother to find that couple for me? Has she got any clue?" 
She asked Chen Ziyan to asked her mother to search for Lin Ru's biological parents. Ms. Lin was familiar with Lin Jiao, so she might know something private about Lin Jiao. It would be easier for her to find Lin Ru's parents. She had also turned to Qiao Liang for help, but he had got no clue… Although Mother didn't mention her biological parents anymore, she could tell she was eager to find her real parents.
Chen Ziyan shook her head and said, "Sorry, Rourou, my mom had asked my dad to search for the couple you mentioned, but he got no clue. The only thing we know is that the Lin Family moved to City W over forty years ago, so if we want to get more information, we may have to find the people who were the Lin Family's neighbors forty years ago. My mom had asked her men to find those people, but there were very few of them still living there. They either moved or… had died." 
Tang Xi's eyes lit up when she heard this. She asked, "Some of them have moved? Do you have their contact information? I can search for them myself."

Zou Wenxuan bit nervously on the straw in her cup until it was flattened.
Like Xu Shengnan, Zou Wenxuan was the producer of the entire event and she preferred to stay quietly backstage instead of on stage. 
In this way, Zou Wenxuan did not need to worry that other people would notice that she was biting on the straw, waiting nervously for Lü Yan's latest updates.
"Senior Zou, there are some rumors that Vice President Xu wants Qiao Nan to take the stage and perform." Lü Yan panted, her clothes drenched in perspiration. "Senior Zou, do you think Vice President Xu is too anxious and desperate times call for desperate measures? Qiao Nan is not prepared at all, and she hasn't been on the stage. What Zou Wenxuan wanted to ask was whether Qiao Nan had any talents to perform on stage. "I want to know if Qiao Nan is good at singing and dancing. Or does she have other talents?"
Regardless, she was forced to go on stage at the last minute. The whole school knew about the program lists that were handed out long ago. 
By then, even if Qiao Nan's performance was unsatisfactory, nobody would really blame her for being insincere or feel that the new English club did not put in efforts to organize the event.
In Zou Wenxuan's opinion, now that Xu Shengnan made Qiao Nan go on stage at the last minute, she could only be able to perform the few talents that she could think of just now. 
"…" Lü Yan did not feel like answering the question.
Zou Wenxuan was angry at Lü Yan, who grew silent. She slammed her cup on the table, making a loud sound. "You have no answers to my questions. Get out!"
She could only relay to her whatever she heard. She was useless.
Apart from ratting on people, Lü Yan could not provide her with any useful and significant information. Zou Wenxuan was sick and tired of Lü Yan.
"Senior Zou, I…" Lü Yan's eyes turned red. She had done so many things for Senior Zou. How could the senior lose her temper at her? 
Qiao Nan thought deep and considered far, and she hid her real talents. Other than her, Tang Jiayun and Yu Xiaoxiao did not know anything about her as well. How could she be blamed for it?
"Leave!"
"Senior Zou, I will go out first. If there's anything, you can call for me." Zou Wenxuan seemed to be really furious. Even though Lü Yan felt that she was wronged and innocent, she had to leave abidingly. 
She walked to the front of the stage and looked toward the area where the new English club was organizing its events. She snorted. "You won't be smug for long."
She might not know what talents Qiao Nan had.
But in her opinion, if Qiao Nan had the talents, why did she not make use of her position as the secretary of the new English club to earn a chance to perform? In that case, she could be well-known to all the teachers and students at the beginning of the school year.
Qiao Nan could make use of her position for her personal gains, but she did not. It proved that Qiao Nan did not have any talents.
After learning her lessons, Lü Yan had grown smarter. She knew that it was better to keep her speculations to herself, and in particular, not to tell people like Zou Wenxuan.
It would be alright if her guesses were correct. However, if her guesses were wrong, Zou Wenxuan, whom she had to suck up to, would dislike her even more and keep a distance from her.
Lü Yan had no other connections in the school. Up until now, no one was willing to be close to her because of the kept woman scandal.
Lü Yan was very upset at being ostracized by the students.
There was no way that she could be close to other freshmen in the same batch. She had given up hope on them and decided to work on pleasing her seniors.
Perhaps, she would fare better with this new plan.
She had offended every student in the same batch as her. Since Zou Wenxuan was the only senior who could help her, Lü Yan must not do anything to irritate her or be on bad terms with her.
If Qiao Nan performed in Feng Qianqian's stead and failed to put up a good performance, the new English club would flop its events like what happened in the previous years.
In that case, Senior Zou would be elated and would treat her better. She might even take the position of Tang Jiayun to be her able assistant. By the time she was in her second year, she might become a committee member.
Compared to being a committee member of the new English club, she would rather be a committee member of the established English club.
There was a glitter in Lü Yan's eyes. She stopped watching the performances put up by the established English club. Instead, she went over to watch the performances by the new English club.
She wanted to see for herself how Qiao Nan made a fool of herself in front of everyone. If Senior Zou asked her about it, she could then describe the situation vividly to Senior Zou, pleasing her. 
Other than the people from the established English club, those who were watching the performances also heard that something had cropped up with the programs of the new English club.

Many people who had the new English club's program list with them stared at Feng Qianqian's name on the list and looked toward the empty stage. They were curious to see who would be performing.
The sound of hurried and heavy footsteps was amplified through the microphone. The sound was piercing. Many students who were watching the show could not help but frown and cover their ears. It was too deafening.
Qiao Nan, who wore a white T-shirt and a pair of straight long pants, appeared hurriedly on stage. A baseball cap was worn slanted on her head.
Qiao Nan smiled at the attention that was focused on her. "Embarrassing, it's so embarrassing. I am being forced on stage. This is dominance, oppression, and ill-treatment! I want democracy and freedom to fight for my own rights!" 
Qiao Nan raised her hands to her chest, adopting the stance of an activist. 
"Hahahaha…"
The audience broke into a big laugh.
Everyone knew that Qiao Nan did not go on stage voluntarily. She was being forced to put a square peg in a round hole. 


Qiao Nan: Crap! I am your biological daughter, yet I am treated as if I was picked up from the streets. In fact, you treat me worse than that!

I was born John Baez in queens NYC. My father was Mike Baez a small or so I thought scientist. My mother was Jenny Platinum a martial artist, that's actually how they met. He was self funding a technology to use the movements from martial arts to develop a program that could study and preserve various martial arts. with her known to have studied many forms it was one of his first stops.


 Eventually she joined him on his quest. For 6 years they traveled around the world studying martial arts and even school programs. before coming back to queens and settling down. they then gave birth to me the great John Baez. Five years later they had finished their second greatest achievement, the learning system. not only martial arts but also schooling up till college was included. 
 

The learning system or L.S. for short was the masterpiece from his self funded project. it can teach various martial arts from parkour (according to mother is an escape based urban martial art) to varma adi that focuses on vital points and about 80 or so others. it can also form a training regimen for a person based off of DNA and daily scans. all designed to bring your body to absolute perfection. based on the martial arts you've learned and one's it recommends bringing you balance. with no permanent harm done no matter your age, sore muscles are still a thing tho. there's even a very basic AI hologram that interacts like a sensei making it more interactive for kids like me.


however the school side is not nearly as fun but it is effective. all I can access right now is till the eighth grade but I've been told it goes up till college. the L.S. supposedly wirelessly gathers information from colleges around the world. gathering training techniques and knowledge for languages, medicine, even sports exercise programs. after all it was originally supposed to help humanity reach the peak of their physical and mental abilities.


  My parents were trying to make it smaller and more affordable for the general population before they died. but other than my personal one they made 2 years ago they haven't made much progress. my personal one can register 1 main user and 4 sub users, she had big plans for me. it has hidden holograms that activate on certain conditions, last time it was both of them singing happy birthday. I wish I knew the conditions I miss them and it's been a few months.

 some goons broke in and tried to steal the L.S. I don't even know how they found out about it. mother managed to kill 8 thugs before one pulled a shotgun taking out my mother and father leaving me alone in the world. the robbers didn't even get the right stuff, just some failed basic the code in it was gibberish. the only working version was mine in a secret room in the basement I called the classroom.


Luckily I was at the neighbors house with my only friend Angie Spica. I was 7 years old and had been taking classes with the L.S. for two years. making me smart for my age not a genius like her, I mean she's seven and playing with circuit boards. she's the only one in the second grade smarter than me well outside of languages I knew Spanish and English well enough to get by. she has 6 older sisters her mom works at a launderette and her dad drives a bus. 


Angie's parents took me in I was always over playing anyway and I think her dad liked actually having a boy in the house instead of 7 daughters and his wife. after a few weeks we were all having nightmares and her parents decided we should move. we heard about a few vigilantes their names weren't known but the crime rates had plummeted. there was the red blur of Central city. the red and blue blur of Metropolis. and finally the dark knight of Gotham. so we voted, yea we voted Angie raised holy hell till we all got a vote. 10 votes altogether and knowledge that 7 year old girls are scary of course I'll come to realize that actually applies to all women, I mean come on tears and puppy dog eyes it's just not right.


After Angie's dad explained how Gotham and Metropolis were so close together and 2 vigilantes were better than one. Central city lost with only one vote, Shelby Angie's eldest sister yep named after the car also loves to draw, stated she saw super hunky firefighters on the news there. the rest of us pretty much just flipped a quarter. And Metropolis got 4 votes, while Gotham got the rest winning with 5 votes.


we spent a few weeks making arrangements for the move. I pached up my things from my house including L.S. Angie's parents said the house would stay in my name and the taxes would come out of my inheritance automatically. luckily my small time (his words that I believed) left alot of money I could basically retire now. However while packing my friends comic book collection and seeing real life examples had me thinking. Maybe just maybe I could become a hero and make sure this doesn't happen to others.


I shared my plan with angie and BAM POW she was in. she even started telling me her plan for a superhero type. "what's a superhero type" with an exasperated look she got into tiny professor mode. " there are 32 main types there's also any combination of these types I guess it's possible to be all although very unlikely. in alphabetical order and without explanations they're acrobat, aerial, armored, aquatic, blaster, brick/tank, elementalist, Energizer, feral, gadgeteer, ghost, government agent, healer, mage, marksman, martial arts, mecha pilot, mentalist, molecular, paragon, possessed, rider, robotic, sentai team, shapeshifter, size changer, slasher, speedster, super genius/mastermind, teleporter, time manipulator, and finally yeller. if you want specifics read my notes. hold on that was alot I need a drink."


as she walked away I knew I needed to look through the notes alot of those were pretty self explanatory but a few weren't. when ang returned I asked "what are your plans for a type." with a cute little grin she stated "since a few are automatically out I'm starting techy. super genius is a must I'm already on my way. then since I have my brains I'll focus on gadgeteer, marksman, and some acrobat mixed with some martial arts. then once I'm smart enough robotics, paragon. that's the plan anyway but lots could happen." she started going on about how cool an over all tech type would be. then all the gadgets she'd make like her comics had but some more practical. then I tuned her out because I stop understanding the words coming out of her mouth. hey I'm smart for 7 but Angie's a genius.



finally she stopped and asked " so any ideas on your type it's important to figure it out early that way you can focus your training." with a confident smile I replied "if your gonna be my little engineer then a martial artist and acrobat to honor my mom and your gadgets and maybe some type enhancement potion to honor my father's science. oh didn't one of your comics have a few guys enhanced by a superpower potion." for some reason her cheeks went all pink. "hey I'm not your little engineer" then she almost when full mini professor again but held it back but it was definitely there in her bright green eyes. " yes there are a few different serums not potions. a bunch came from Trying to remake one original serum known as the super serum. but its formula was lost although some exceptional ones came about from that." 


huh so she didn't like being called an engineer "ok I'll call you my little mad scientist because of the way you do that muahaha laugh when your finishing your experiments." NO! I'll be your little engineer." for some reason her face is now bright red. ang must have really not liked mad scientist. I thought it was accurate though. "so do you think we could make a serum like that or something similar." "I d-d-dont know but its possible in the future I need alot more knowledge." oh I just thought of something, if I add her as a user to the L.S. it would probably speed things up. "hey m.l.e. when we're done moving I wanna show you something." "ok and what's m.l.e." with a happy grin I responded "my little engineer of course the first nickname I've given." oh I think I broke her she's all locked up and I think I see steam coming off my friends red little Hispanic face. even her black hair is frozen not even moving in the breeze coming in her window. yep time to test my superhero vanishing act.

A DC fanfiction with a new character entering the scene. some things will change hopefully not to much.
so far just a regular kid who inherited some helpful tech.

Chou Tzuyu was practicing her arrow shooting  at the the sport centre/playground at the university.
She was serious. She must not miss anything even in practice.

She aimed her arrow and bow at the board in in front that was a little away and her arrow exactly hit to the yellow circle of the board in the middle.

Tzuyu felt relieved. 
There was a clap from her behind. Her friend and classmate from the new university she was learning. 

"That was cool...!" 

"Thank you!", Tzuyu replied. 

Tzuyu's new friend was a girl of same age and  has different style and attitude. In other words, the girl looked quite nerd whereas Tzuyu had more of confident attitude. Nevertheless, Tzuyu was still as girly as her new friend except when she was aim her bow and arrow. 
"You look tired Tzuyu ...!"
"Umm..Yeri.. let's go to canteen...I would like to eat something.."
"Ok..." Her name was Yeri then.

At the canteen.....

Tzuyu was drinking watermelon smoothie. 

Yeri was eating some potato snack.

"You look a little bit sad and serious...! You must be missing your friends in previous university!"
Tzuyu shook her head. 
"Not really!..I am thinking...about..my betrothed to a man I have never seen before!"

That made Yeri could not swallow her snack for a moment..

"You are already engaged...WOW...!"

"Well, it my family's wish and I had even seen him before. He did not even show up at my grandmother's birthday party!"
 
"I'm sure he must be handsome... because he's engaged to our Tzuyu!"

Tzuyu laughed at that. 

Yeri continued, "Smart and kind too for our Tzuyu!"

"I hope so!" Tzuyu said. 

But suddenly,Yeri said as she remembered something important."

"I just remembered we had basketball match this evening. Let's go and watch..I really want to cheer Gyeomi Oppa."

"Oppa...!"
"He's from Korea. He came to study for master here but he joined a lot of activities here and very friendly. He's active, tall and smart and very friendly. Very nice and good in English ... learn Mandarin so fast and now is even a DJ in university radio station which I usually listen to. I became a fan then. If Tzuyu were not engaged I will definitely Gyeomi&Tzuyu...I'm just kidding..".
"Hehe..well as you know it's impossible...So take him yourself"
"Hehe I don't think I'm his match..But let's go to see the basketball match ok...I think it will fresh your mind up!"

"Ok"

At the university stadium hall (inside). 
There were quite amount of audiences, students to the basketball match between the two important faulties of the university; business and communication arts. Both team involved players both were studying in bachelor and master.

The girls could here the MC saying, " Today's match is special. We have players from both bachelor and master programs.... I am sure we will all have meaningful match today.... seniors and juniors ' teamwork is..."
 
Then Yeri spoke up.  "There he is!"

There was a young man about 24 came out with his teammates to the basketball game hall. He was tall and fair. His body was well built. Nevertheless, he had a cute baby face and cheeky as well. Yeri cheered her Oppa all the way and was satisfied by their final winning. 

Tzuyu and Yeri came out of stadium. There was some gifts selling near stadium and Yeri wanted to have a look. 

"You still have sometimes Tzuyu. I wanna look around for a moment!"

Tzuyu looked at her watch.

It was 7 pm

"Yes. I told Tuan to pick me up at 8 pm. But for now I wanna use Restroom ..you go see the shops I will join you after I came back.!"

Tzuyu went to the restroom. With her hurry to the restroom she bumped into a man who just walking there. Tzuyu could see that it was Yeri's Oppa, the tall fair guy. But she had no time to greet him. She just say..
"I'm really sorry Mister, but excuse me for now!"

Then, she ran to the restroom.

But the young man was still looking at her even from behind.

In there , Lalisa became smitten by Tuan. But she noticed him paying attention a lot to her pretty cousin. Was she smitten by her pretty cousin?

Lalisa looked at the beautiful garden around her which was decorated with classic flowers such as roses, peonies, orchids, etc.  She just could not help but her tear fell down to her cheeks. She wipe it away. At that moment, she heard a voice behind. 
"Hey....miss... Lady Lalisa?"

He was the only one at the mansion to call her "lady".

She stood up quickly and said, "I'm completely ok... just taking a walk in the garden!"

"Miss Lalisa, have you been crying..."

"No no no, it s just that, in here, the dust go inside my eyes...I'm wiping and and yep..my eyes just turn red!"

"Ummm...I see..!"

The young man said..."Im just coming to ask you if you would like to join me and Master Nicky going to hiking....!"

That made her feel lighter a bit.

"Let's go then!"

"How do you know peter and why are you talking to him?" Chisom asked, when I stepped into the church pavilion where she had been waiting for me.

I towered over her by a few inches but she was thicker than I was by far. I didn't want to fight with her but if push comes to shove I planned to strangle her with the long pink scarf she tied around her bald hair.  

I laughed. "He was my classmate."

"Ohh." Her face brightened up immediately. She wanted to say something else but I patted her on the shoulder and walked back in.

I talked a little bit more with Peter, he told me a lot about his school which was mostly him complaining of how he wasn't eating because they weren't feeding him well in school and how he was kept away from girls since he attended a seminary boarding school.

I did tell him about my school life too, consciously omitting all my adventurous stubbornness which included going to school late and climbing the fence to prevent me from being caught and flogged, and also learning how to shoot with my then best friend who I might never see again.   

After mass, Peter offered to escort me home and I couldn't say no. He was good company.

When we got to the gate of my compound, he waved me bye while smiling. I grinned and waved back at him.

When I got upstairs, I pushed the door open and like I suspected it wasn't locked. 'My brother must have seen me coming and opened the door for me' I concluded.

I didn't even get to close the door before my dad started yelling at me.

"Where are you coming from by this time of the night?" He asked, angrily

"Church." I whispered, though my heart was racing hard.  

"Yeah, church my foot! By this time right!" he spat, fuming. His eyes looked even bigger that it normally was. He looked at me like he wanted to swallow me whole. I had grown taller than him over time but he still scared me shitless. He was dark, like tree backs_ my brothers took his complexion and big nose. 

The only thing I took from my dad was my straight legs and perfect set of teeth. I took everything else from my mum, her complexion, her small eyes, her full lips, her big boobs and tiny waist, her small ears, long hair that was so tough to comb and grew really fast, and my thin face. 

She had a perfect set of teeth too, but my dad's was more beautiful. It was the only thing I admired about him and the fact that he got a first class honors in English and literature from the university of port-hacourt. I would have studied the same thing as him, but I didn't want to bear any semblance to my dad, at least if I could help it. 

"This is holy week, there were a lot programs today." I finally replied, shivering a little. I was cold and scared. He scared me although I always tried to act brave in front of him. I didn't want to give him the pleasure of seeing me scared. I needed to be brave for my family. He was our mutual enemy.

"You!"... I had no idea what he wanted to say and I knew whatever it was could not be good. He never says anything good to me.

"Mira come in." My mum urged. That was all I needed to leave. She was always there to help me I thought smiling, although this wasn't enough. I wanted a permanent end to his bullying. I was so tired of being scared of him_my own father.

I quickly went to the room to change my wet, almost dry clothes. I was putting on my gown when I heard my Dad shouting in the parlor, his voice loud and angry.

'It's happening again' I thought as I heard my mum shout my name.

"You kill all the people that touch me for touching me only? Or is it just a habit of yours_ Killing people?" I dared to ask.

 I was shaking so bad and my hands were sweaty. I was visibly perspirating even though the Ac was on. Still, I just needed to get all these questions of my chest. He was acting so strange and mad. I knew that I would end up dead either ways. Whether I spoke up against him or not I was still going to end up dead. So why be silent?

He started walking towards me, and with each step he took further I took one back in fear and desperation to create space between us, until I was backed up against the wall. He stood so close to me now I was practically breathing his air. 

"Like I told you in the very beginning when we first met, You're mine! And when something is mine no one touches it. So when another man wants to touch you beg him to stop not for your sake but for his. No matter how many they are or how minute the touch is they will end up below the ground the moment they do. You are mine."

"Master Lin, we're teaching them English, maths, and Chinese. And when we explain new knowledge during the lessons, the children absorb it exceptionally quickly. Nevertheless, additional missiles were prepared for cases where crash was inevitable. 
 
	Other than that, the shuttle was given another upgrade so that it could serve as a mining vessel. Two giant mechanical arms and a collection chute were added. Harvested minerals could be transferred through the chute to be deposited inside the shuttle. 
 
	Naturally, a single shuttle couldn’t satisfy the needs of 120000 people. Therefore, it was understood that this was supposed to be a trial run. The aim was to check whether these minerals contained any harmful elements and to check whether they were worth harvesting. After the experience on Planet Sahara, everyone on the Hope was that much more wary when approaching this alien situation. 
 
	After preparation had been done, at two in the afternoon, several scientists, engineers, and two soldiers boarded the mining shuttle. A few minutes later, they departed from the Hope for the meteorite cluster. 
 
	The shuttle crossed 50 kilometers in the blink of an eye. Without further permission, they wouldn’t venture deep into the cluster. Instead, they hovered by its perimeter where a 2 cubic meters asteroid was collected. 
 
	The whole process was conducted under the watchful eye of the Hope’s surveillance, which had been restored to its full capacity after they left the nebula. It is worth mentioning that even though man’s technology then was still too amateur for actual space-travel, it remained a source of comfort for citizens of the Hope because they already had the best man could offer. 
 
	To garner morale, visuals of man’s first space mining operation were projected on monitors all over the Hope. The Hope News Agency [1] was even doing a live broadcast. A sense of excitement could be felt all over the Hope that night. 
 
	"Good evening. As you can see on the screen, the shuttle is harvesting its first asteroid, and its size appears to be around 2 cubic meters. At the moment, the asteroid is now firmly in the mechanical arms’ grasp. They only need to send it into the chute now. According to updates from the Workshop, operations on the shuttle are running smoothly. This operation you are witnessing on the screen right now is run by a Mr. Hanzo Bick. Mr. Hanzo used to be a marine salvage operator, so I have faith that this operation is in good hands." 
 
	In contrast to the military feed videos, which were laden with statistics, the visuals broadcast to the public came attached with an anchor. The female anchor was a seasoned journalist and newscaster. According to rumors, she was previously affiliated with a famous American news organization and was the Hope News Agency’s first hire. 
 
	"Dear viewers, now we have to be patient because analysis of the asteroid will take about three to six hours. We know that space is full of unknown dangers, so before we are certain of the actual components of this asteroid, the shuttle is not allowed back into the Hope. On that note, we have here on set Professor Yuan Bin, the world-famous biologist. Now Professor Yuan Bin, can you help explain to our audience the possible dangers this asteroid could contain…" 
 
	At that moment in command central, Yao Yuan and everyone else were glued to the main monitor, the shuttle’s channel of communication. This was where people got firsthand knowledge regarding the space mining operation. 
 
	Zhang Heng, Jay, and a few members of the Black Star Unit though were watching the evening news on a smaller screen nearby. When Yuan Pin appeared on screen, Zhang Heng said quizzically, "Professor Yuan Pin? Didn’t he say he detests these showy news programs? Why would he agree to an appearance now? I was expecting a normal science expert, not the Hope’s best in biology."
 
	Without taking his eyes away from the monitor, Yao Yuan answered, "I told him to make an appearance. This is to stop baseless speculation that makes people charge aimlessly into danger during emergencies, like how they did on Planet Sahara… Other than that, haven’t you noticed? Professor Yuan Pin is speaking in Chinese."
 
	"He is indeed explaining everything in Chinese. What about it?" Guang Zhen asked, with a hint of interest. 
 
	"Notice that he’s speaking Chinese and the screen has English subtitles… Still not getting it?" Yao Yuan shook his head, chuckling. "At the moment, there are about ten main languages being used on the Hope, the most common ones being Chinese and English. The rest includes French, German, Russian, Korean, and Japanese. In any case, it’s complicated and it doesn’t serve our cause of uniting the people. To do that, we need a lingua franca.
 
	"There is still some time before we need to formalize an official language, but when that need arises, my choice is Chinese. Therefore, I’ve requested experts like Professor Yuan Pin to appear on these shows and speak in Chinese to implant into the people’s mind the importance of the Chinese language."
 
	After Yao Yuan finished, everyone in the room started speaking in Chinese, which left Jay alone in the dark. Only Zhang Heng noticed Jay’s confused expression and patted him consolingly on his shoulder… (The poor fella, looks like he might need to put some extra effort into learning a new language, but then again, the girl he was chasing, I remember quite distinctly was a language expert. Maybe she could be of help.)
 
	Simultaneously, out in the shuttle, experiments were being expertly carried out. First, the asteroid was spilt in half. Then, various experiments were conducted on the rock’s outer surface, inner layers, and its core. Their chemical make-up, mineral composition, and even possible sentience were given a thorough sweep. 
 
	At around four in the afternoon, initial reports showed that while the asteroid contained no microbes or viruses, its components were incredibly complex. It contained multiple metallic and non-metallic compounds, carbon dioxide, ice particles, and most importantly, radioactive substances!
 
	This meant that among this meteorite cluster there were some meteorites that contained radioactive deposits!
 
	Scientists from the Academy cheered in happiness when they were relayed this news. Their hypothesis had been proven correct. During the formation of a new solar system, it is going to be suffused with ample minerals. They cheered because this meant that the Hope was going to get a timely restock of their supply!
 
	And this included energy needed for space-warping!
 
	According to the mass spectrometer, the asteroid consisted of rich elements that could be transmuted through processes like electrolysis to produce water, oxygen, chemicals, fertilizers, mineral ores, and even raw materials for drugs!
 
	The significance it represented couldn’t be understated!
 
	This meant that as long as the solar system suffered no great tragedy, the Hope could stay within this system indefinitely! Using the materials supplied by these asteroids and meteorites, man could very well build a space base. While waiting for the terrestrial planet to form, assembly of new spaceships like the Hope could be initiated. Landing could occur when the planet is ready and the Hope’s technology by then should be more capable to terraform the planet into man’s new home planet!
 
	"Have we finally… found a new home?"
 
	Yao Yuan saw celebration erupt across the Hope through the monitor, but a sneaking wariness prevented him from sharing in the people’s joy. That wariness came from…
