Tristan was extremely big, extending for mile and miles. From the inner sanctum, the trio took a palace carriage to the third city, where the school was located. In Lady Ellen's mind, she was extremely curious about what was so special about this particular school to warrant a special visit.

It didn't take long to get there, but when they did, the 2 newcomers had their mouths wide. If the builder intended to display the splendor of the building, then they had achieved that in leaps and bounds. 

Standing at 10 floors high, the grand structure was not that tall. What it lacked in height, it more than made up for it in splendor and beauty. Looking at the beautifully designed and sculptured walls, one would think that it was overdone.

Every aspect of the stone wall had a beautiful ornament or decoration in place. The white-themed walls were barely visible underneath all this decoration. Of course, all this was Barda's deduction. To Lady Ellen, the building was simply exquisite. 

Entering inside, the trio was greeted by gold-paved walls and marble floors. Looking up, the chandeliers and the jewelry on the ceiling of the reception was no joke. What was surprising was that every inch of this place was just as beautiful.

"This can't be just a forging school, can it?" Lady Ellen was taken by it. In her mind, this was more luxurious than a castle or even a palace. She found it difficult to relate all this to just simple smithing. 

"You don't know the story, then let me tell it as we get there?" Lady Maara was taken aback. She thought everyone knew about the history of the institution and the people living in it.

"According to legend," the princess began. "There were three major associations on the Eastern Continent. One was for mercenaries, the other was for craftsmen and the last was an institute of magic.

Humanity had always been drawn to the great unknown, the mystics that had no reasonable explanation. Due to this, the Magician Association got so much recognition that they began ruling over the other organizations, and indeed the whole continent with their power and reach..."

"I know that part, get to the school part!" Lady Ellen exclaimed.

"Okay, getting there, hold on. In Tristan, each of these organizations had a firm hold in what was then seen as the headquarters of the entire continent. By that time, each of these organizations had their branches in the city. The one in front of them was the Crafts Association's main headquarters." 

Looking at the building with this fresh perspective, Barda noticed that the wares included almost every craft. Moreover, it seemed as though each craft was out to outdo the other. Looking at the building, it was hard not to be impressed by the skills and wares produced by the association in its prime.

"What happened?" Barda asked.

"Even that you don't know?" Lady Maara was shocked, but so was Lady Ellen. 

"I wouldn't be asking if I knew, would I?" Barda retorted. 

"Alright, I'll tell you," Lady Ellen said. "The other 2 organizations banded together to destroy the Magicians' Association."

Barda looked to the princess and whispered out loud, "You are most certainly the better story-teller." An action that elicited a mock attack from Lady Ellen. 

With that light moment, they finally arrived at the school. They did finish narrating the story to Barda. The 2 associations received a lot of help from the Magicians' Association's enemies, many who were seeking to grab the power that would undoubtedly be left if such a power was ousted. 

Much later, after so much destruction and fighting, the Adventurers' Association was formed, encompassing all three Associations. It was a union of the three associations after they had whittled each other down to their last breath. If they continued fighting, the associations would have been lost forever. 

Back then, the Adventurers' Association did not have power, so many city-states grabbed their property and assets and made them their own. For instance, the Gazan institute was now under Tristan City. 

Only after crawling for centuries did the Adventurers' Association grow to become what it is now. Unfortunately, due to the nature of their business, they no longer have a united power as they once did, making the Association just a registry. 

As Barda walked in the hall, it was not lost on him how tight the security was, and that, if he hadn't been walking next to the princess, he wouldn't have gotten within peeping distance of the place. There were soldiers all over, and many seemed to be hired. 

 The walls within the building were immaculate, but so were the people. No one entered through the gates without an appropriate status. Barda didn't know what the lowest acceptable status was, but he guessed not even Lady Ellen would meet the status. Some things were left only for the privileged. 

The trio walked to an office. There was a reception desk in place, but these were the perks of walking with a princess. After a brief wait, a short bald man who looked like he had swallowed a village before coming in walked in the room. 

Looking at him, Barda wondered which of the man's attributes made him so want to punch him in the face. Could be it wasn't any of his physical features, but the air of arrogance and superiority that came from a lifetime of talking down at people. 

The man was respective, but he was shocked when he learned the group's destination. A frown appeared, and his air of superiority came back until he remembered who he was talking to. He would later concede to allowing them a tour across the great library. 

However, there was one condition he was insistent on, one he wouldn't budge no matter what. That condition was simple, they were not to touch any of the books or scrolls in the library. They were only there to admire, like a guided tour.

The Library itself, which was the grandest part of the building, and also the quietest, spanned from the 4th floor to the 9th floor. Every inch of it was luxurious with proper reading tables and platforms as well as noise reduction practice areas on every floor. 

The shelves were full of many collections of books, scrolls, and other reading materials. They were neatly arranged by those he assumed must have been the students who came to learn here. 

Starting from the 4th floor, they walked all they to the 9th floor. It should be known that not many knew that the library extended to the 9th floor. The common misconception was that the library was only 4 floor high, from the 4th to the 8th. 

This had been done intentionally. The 9th floor contained some information that many did not to be released, so its existence was kept under wraps. Due to the princess being there, the group was able to go in and admire the books. Just admire. The baldie had tagged along to ensure they touched nothing. 

On the 10th floor, the princess was given a reception befitting of her title. Barda and Lady ellen were pleased to tag along to all these niceties, but they had to leave. The princess had given her word to the prince of Reuze, after all. 

After a long day and a lot of experiences later, the 2 finally got back to their Adventurer team's residence. It was quite far from the city center. All adventurer teams' residences were located on the outskirts of the city, inside the outermost wall. The logic was simple, the adventurers had come to war, so this is where war was at. 

Crossing the various walls, Barda couldn't help but gasp at the rifts of change caused by every wall he passed. In the city center, many didn't even seem to notice there was a war going on, business continuing as usual. Out here on the fringes, there were multiple casualties and many who had lost everything in the skirmishes. 

However, even out here, Barda's achievement had been heard and celebrated. Even cold Phoenix was happy to hear of the tales, and how exalted their Adventurer Team name was being praised. 

One last thing before we close this chapter. As per Lady Ellen's thought, she gathered the group together for a meeting while they were having their evening meal. 

Barda was pleasantly surprised when he was named the new Vice Commander: Logistics, Dark Flames Adventurer Team. Everyone agreed that he deserved it. Between his bow, arrows, and performance, there was hardly any competition for the roles. The current Vice Commanders breathed easy, at least, they didn't have to give up their seats for the new arrival.

Barda was well able to fit into the new role he had received even as he was, but late in the night, he received a notification that made him almost jump out of bed:

"Hello, Miss Charlotte!" Sue piped up.

The Duke sighed. "Court Magician Charlotte… I know I also said for you to feel at home, but do you act like this in your own home?"

"Her house has some doors removed because it's too much of a hassle opening doors to move research materials!" the tired voice spoke up from behind her.

"Eek!" Suddenly Charlotte came back to her senses. The court magician began bowing and apologizing to the Duke for her rudeness. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

And then she looked up and her expression steeled again. "Sir von Chara! I have brought him as you requested!"

I blinked. "... you brought the who in the my what now?"

"Um… this is my cousin, Sir Alan. He has the [Null] ability of [Portal] for long-distance travel and transport."

Charlotte stepped aside to show off the person behind her. A walking pile of books. We couldn't see the person's face, but there was no mistaking the tired sarcastic git in his tone. "I'm so happy to meet /exactly none of you./"

"... you know what, I'm just not going to deal with this right now…" I sighed. "We're still in the middle of a delicate medical situation. Lady Ortlinde, we're going to have to turn off the [Blind Sight] spell for a while."

"Hurry up and wait, sure why not. It's like I never left the military. /Awesome./"

"Please put the books down on that table there, Alan. But be careful! They're very delicate."-

"These are books, woman! As long as they're not wet or on fire, they're the opposite of delicate," Alan grumbled. "Also, I can't even see where you're pointing. Can you use your damn brain for something useful?"

"H-how rude!" Sue gasped. "You can't talk to Miss Charlotte like that!" Her face puffed up in outrage.

Charlotte escorted her helper to a side table. "It's all right. My sister will make him pay for it once we're done here."

"I already regret everything, there's nothing more you could do to me except make my suffering any shorter." He paused. "Also I regret the most being away from my wife, so you should know there are more… pleasurable… forms of suffering."

By the confused look on Charlotte's face it was clear that no, she had no idea what that meant. She was separated from her family at the age of about eight  years old, and spent most of her formative years in Mismede in the company of fairies with very low fertility rates and disproportionately female at that.

Of course that meant a whole lot of them were shameless perverts, but all that really  ̷m̷̶̷e̷̶̷n̷̶̷t̷̶̷a̷̶̷l̷̶̷l̷̶̷y̷̶̷ ̷̶̷s̷̶̷c̷̶̷a̷̶̷r̷̶̷r̷̶̷e̷̶̷d̷̶̷ taught Charlotte in the end was that all pain was pain. While they couldn't do anything directly to Charlotte, her of-age guards were another matter entirely.

"N-no. Of course not. All pain is pain… it's a lesson, a reminder to do better next time. Those who do good don't get hit. P-pain is a lesson!" And yet a part of her, that was a child starved for attention and sent away by her family, was willing to suffer pain because it meant her teacher was looking at her and cared about what she was doing.

Alan groaned and put down the heavy load of books that he was forced to carry. Doing so exposed a thin, tired-looking face with long stringy hair. "I am learning nothing from this," he wheezed.

I ignored the overdramatic fool and addressed the Duchess again. "All right. I'll be turning off the spell. Please prepare yourself. In three… two… one."

/"Spell Slot cleared,"/ Monika noted.

The Duchess flinched.

"Did that hurt?" I asked. "How do you feel? Are you seeing anything?"

She shook her head. "No… it was just surprising. I'm seeing… this somewhat warm haze." Her eyes had turned a pale turquoise again.

I held up a little ball of [Light] and waved it in front of her eyes. "Pupils… are responding to the presence of light. Please follow if you can perceive where the light is coming from." 

Her gaze followed the light ball left and right. I continued "Good. Can you perceive any shape or gradation in the light? I will now be varying the distance."

After a while Duchess Ellen said "I can see a little bit of a change, but it still becomes light or dark very quickly. I can tell when only one eye is shaded."

/"So it really is the vision equivalent of TV static,"/ Monika mused. /"Weird. Well, Player, I'm out of theories. We're not actual trained doctors after all."/ Fortunately she only whispered this to my ears. /"How are you going to get us out of this hole? You don't really expect me to keep locked down one of my slots for her sight, right? Are you planning on somehow getting Sue to cast and maintain the spell?"/

I shook my head and stood up. I had a more eerie suspicion.

"By the way, what is your magical affinity, Lady Ellen?" I asked.

"Fire," she replied with a disappointed breath. The same as her father, but despite that he had the power of [Recovery] to uphold the family's reputation as great healers.

I went over to my backpack and brought out a soft sand-filled cloth ball. Then I addressed the Duchess "Lady Ellen! Catch!" Then I threw the ball at her face.

The ball slapped onto a waiting palm.

"Sir Zah!" Sue gasped. "Mother!"

The Duchess lowered her hand and stared at the ball with wide sightless eyes. "What… what was that?"

"Sir von Chara, if you do that again, we will not have words," Duke Ortlinde growled.

"Ahah… sorry. In my defense it would have missed anyway?"

Sue leapt over to her mother's side. "Mother, can you see now?!"

"No. I'm sorry, Sue. There's… nothing." She furrowed her brows a bit and looked up. Somehow she could tell where I was standing. "So how did I just do that?"

I shrugged. "My spells generally don't act like making something from nothing. It takes either something that exists, or a known quality like speed, pressure, or direction, and then builds off that. [Blind Sight] doesn't give you a new magical form of sight, but takes in and amplifies everything else you may perceive and builds the information you receive into something that seems like sight."

/"What, is this like the reason why Air Benders have shaved heads? So they can better feel changes in air pressure on their naked scalp?"/

I grimaced. "This means that even if we terminate [Blind Sight] it takes a while for your body to forget what it was doing. It's actually making new connections in your brain, because while the human body is actually surprisingly clever at healing around damage. It is accidentally teaching you some sort of [Blind Fighting] skill."

Everyone stared oddly at me. "Isn't… that a good thing?" asked the Duke.

"[Heal] spells repair damage. If doing this eventually trains Duchess Ellen to see without using her eyes, heal spells will no longer function because her brain has repaired itself. But the alternative is to keep her blinded for longer."

The Duchess responded with a light, dismissive little laugh. "I have endured five years. If it would mean being able to see my family again, please do not mind me."

I made some sort of frustrated guttural sound. "But this leaves us with another option! Which is to build upon [Blind Sight] and make it able to perceive shapes and colors. You would retain the improved reflexes and heightened perception with all other senses than sight, without it interfering with your vision.

"Speaking as a person who is mostly blind, sight is the most precious of our human senses and the one we depend on the most for our survival. Many would rather give up their ability to speak, to hear, or to feel, than give up sight. We overdepend on sight because without it we are starkly reminded that this fangless, hairless two-legs should be prey to larger animals.

"This is very tempting to me because the cure to your eyes would likely also be a cure to my own while permanently also improving my combat abilities. Also, um, yours."

/"Player, it is GROSSLY UNETHICAL to use your patients for UNSANCTIONED MEDICAL EXPERIMENTS."/

"I knoooowwww…." I wailed and flapped my hands around helplessly.

Duchess Ellen raised a hand to her lips and giggled delicately. "I think I would like to hear more about this before coming to a decision."

/"Lady Ellen, please do not indulge his foolishness. The first Oath of a Doctor is 'Do No Harm'. Patients are there to be healed as soon as possible, not to be upgraded."/

"Excuse me! Excuse me!" Charlotte waved for attention.

"Yes?" I replied with a nod.

"Doesn't this mean that all you need is something that gives normal sight? She would then get used to seeing again until a time when such a spell is no longer necessary? If the body is so good at repairing around damage, how come vision only grows worse with age?"

"Obviously because what's damaged can never really be as good as the unbroken," Alan retorted. "You can only exercise so much before you're tearing open your own muscles and lose them. That's why we don't need bulky muscle-heads in the army."

Then he looked up and around, "Where is that other woman's voice coming from anyway?"

/"It is a mysssterrryyy….."/ Monika replied in a spectral whisper.

Then belatedly she answered Charlotte's question, /"Some parts of the body can only degrade after being fully formed, not improved by exercise. Aging is largely the body's eventual inability to cope with repairing itself after the small amounts of damage and new growths needed after everyday exertions."/

"Uh, Charlotte, does your friend actually have the security clearance for this?" I asked, belatedly realizing the sensitive nature of medical information regarding the Ducal house.

Duke Ortlinde sighed and rubbed at the bridge of his nose. "Sir Alan Droz is a member of the Royal Guards."

"Nice." I brandished a thumbs-up. They should be hella suspicious about me and make sure that I intend no harm to the kingdom no matter my words or how much Duke Ortlinde gave his trust.

Alan copied the gesture. "I would really like NOT to have to deal with any of this noble scheming, if you don't mind."

"Fair enough. As a soldier yourself, would you mind sitting in with the medical lecture I'm presenting soon after this?"

"… that interests me a little bit, yeah."

"A lecture! Yes! That's good too! Medicine is important for everyone! Even the military can't ignore its importance! Alan, I need paper! Where did you put the paper?!" Charlotte sprang up and began to carelessly rifle through the books. Some of them were blank notebooks and journals.

"On top!" Alan yelled back. "I knew this would happen! Stop being in such a hurry, woman! You don't need to rush everything!"

Charlotte stopped. And then had a full-body shiver. "No… no… can't be too slow. Speed is life. Too slow gets hit. Too slow gets the whip…"

Then after a few seconds of fugue, she went back to flipping open books for a blank journal.

Sue gave her a pitying look, then reached out to clasp her mother's hand.

The next challenge was a blindfold. Everyone took their blindfold and started shooting. Moira shot flawlessly, almost hitting the same red spot in the middle. And then she loaded her magazine with a blindfold. Everyone is doing the same but the way she held the gun and how perfect she shoot was making everyone impressed. 
On the top floor. Alanis is smirking. His Queen is more than what everyone thinks. He would fall for someone stupid and only care for money and his body. He had fallen for the woman that is more than he was.

"I'll go there next." She said and she pointed the gun and pulled the trigger again after another. 
"That's my sexy Queen." He murmured on her ear. She exhaled and didn't pull the trigger for the last bullet. She removed her blindfold and turned to him. 
"I am having fun here." She said and pushed him a little. "Why do you have to interrupt?" She said a little annoyed. 
"This is why I don't want you to go here..." He told and patted her head. "Let's go." He took her hand. 
"But, I want to play more." She said pulling her hand back. 
"No." He bent a little and carried her to his arms like a sack of rice. 
"Hey! Alanis!" Everyone bows their heads as he passed but they watched as their King carried their Queen like they are a normal couple. 
He finally put her down when they left the training center. She felt dizzy and nearly tripped but he held her waist steadily and kissed her lips. 
"You little brat, you think that I'll let you stay there all day without giving time for me?" 
"You are the brat here." She frowned at him. 
"Don't be grumpy, my Queen. I prepared a special place for us." 
"Ah," She nodded. "You want to tire me again?" She frowned at him. He laughed and pointed her nose. 
"Maybe." He kissed her lips again. "No worries my Queen. I'll handle everything from now on." 
"That's what I am worried about." She pushed this clingy boyfriend a little and just hold his hand. They strode in the hallway and to wherever he is going to take her. 
"Where are we going exactly?" 
"It's a surprise." He said with a grin. "Do you want that surprise or do want the other way around?" 
"Whatever, another way around you mean, it will always be the same." 
"It is not always the same." He grinned. He moved his lips to her ear. "We can always use different positions." 
She laughed and nudged him.

She drove past from the mall glancing at their build board for a big holiday sale. Well, she can find a supplier for books and clothes for children. Anything they needed would be great. 
She tapped her phone on the car phone stand to call her secretary. 
"Good Day Lady Mondragon." 
"Hi, I need a new supply of still good overrun clothes. Just like before... I need thousands of it so we could send it to orphanages. Add shoes and socks and books for their library." 
"Yes, Ma'am." 
"Great. I need the supplier's name this week." 
"Noted on that, Ma'am." 
"Thanks." She hung up and drove down to see how Nicholas would make his move.

It will be a very critical mission if she just sends someone there. 
The country is campaigning regarding Free Drugs Country. Lots of pusher and drug users surrendered, but they are still searching for the Drug Lords and she is very certain that those Drug Lords are government official, or worst, part of the military. 
She exhaled and drove around to visit Ellen at the new restaurant. She's smiling as she spoke with the Manager. She parked her car and then entered the restaurant as bells chimes. 
Ellen looked at her and her eyes twinkles. 
"Andy!" She strode closer to her and hugged her. She patted Ellen's head and then, she looked around and admired the decorations. 
"This is great Ellen." 
"Thank you." 
"I wonder why Kathleen can never be like you. I mean, she got ideas but she couldn't put it all in action without a backup." 
"I got a backup." She winked. Andy chuckled. 
"You know what I mean. That back up is just helping you for taking notes. But the whole idea is from you." 
"Thank you, sis, for your compliment. 
"Not a problem at all." 
Andy sat down and Ellen prepared food for her. They chatted for a while, but Andy wanted to have a classified conversation. So, Ellen told the manager that she can go early and then she locked the door and sat down with Andy. 
"What is this all about?" She asked. 
"Have you heard about these kidnappers that sell organs and cornea?" 
"Yeah." She nodded. 
"Nicholas is part of it." She told. "I want you to keep away from him as soon as possible. I already hire people to guard you. Fox will still be there for you and Andel is still monitoring you for your safety." 
"Okay." She nodded and Ellen felt a little nervous. 
"This syndicate has a big operation last five years ago in the province. They have been captured but the syndicate hasn't been captured. I want you to be away from another city like QC and Manila... You better stay here in Global. We could still monitor you." 
"Okay." she nodded. 
"And, the last thing, I am sorry that Andel can't face your family or your brother. His job is classified. I hope you understand that." Then she reached her hand. "Andel loves you so much, that's how we give our love to the person we care most. Our duty can cost our loved one's life. If Andel loses you, he'll go crazy. You don't want that. No one wants that to happen. So please, bear with what you have." 
Ellen smiled at her and squeeze her hand. 
"Don't worry. I love him so much that it hurts. I won't rush. I just want to be with him. That's all I asked." 
Andy nodded. 
"There will be a time that he must let you go so he won't lose you." 


“What now? We didn’t make love on our wedding night. Now you are teasing me.” Zach said frustratedly. Andy peeked on the window and Allona wasn’t there anymore. She turned back from him and reached her phone but Zach grabbed her arm and make her face him. “Andy, are you pushing me to use that freedom card?”

“I am not pushing you to use that. I don’t want to make love to you because you don’t love me. You can fuck anyone but not that bitch last night.” She grabbed his shirt. “I am warning you. You can fuck any woman but not her. You are mine now and no one can ever have you.” She said dangerously.

I went into the kitchen as my mom gave me a tray of drinks to serve to my friends.

"Thanks mom," I grabbed the tray from her.

"It's the least that I could do. I was making beverages for your younger brother's friends anyways," My mom revealed another tray that sat on the countertop.

I had a younger brother? Why was it that I couldn't remember anything about him?

Whenever I visited my house in the third district, the house was mostly empty.

"Adrian you're here! Did my son make you pick up the tray again?" My mom faced the familiar boy that I recognized.

"Rika?" Adrian appeared shocked as he stared at me.

"Do you know Rika?" My mom asked as if she was surprised that we even knew each other.

"She was my math teacher for a several days over a year ago," Adrian recalled as he brightly greeted me again.

"I never knew Rika came to the third district to teach at a school," My mom knew that I rarely came to the third district.

"It was for a practical assignment. I couldn't go home as the school made me stay in a hotel," I sulked as I remembered begging Luke if I could go back home instead of staying in the hotel.

My mom seemed dejected that I didn't visit her when I was in the third district. Any parent would become depressed if they could only see their child once every three to four years.

I forgot about this aspect of staying in the dorms as everyone in school lived separately from their parents in the first district.

It was strange to visit your parents every week as it was abnormal when there was so much work to do and not enough time to accomplish all the course material assigned.

Everyone struggled to survive as they tried to earn enough points to live in decent room and eat regular meals.

I brought the drinks to my friends as they curiously drank the beverage that was handmade. 

"This is amazing," Ellen commented as she hungrily drank the carbonated orange juice with a lemon hanging off the cup.

"You never had this kind of drink before?" I was surprised.

Both Shelly and Ellen nodded as they helped themselves to second servings.

Since I was a commoner in my past life, something like this wasn't something new. I still considered myself to be a commoner in this life as well. I was never going to admit my name to actually be 'Rika de Roselia' until I married Luke.

Luke didn't join the conversation as he read one of his usual books on my bed.

"It's still hard to believe you didn't come from the first district," Shelly admitted as she sat on the cold floor.

It did make sense that both Shelly and Ellen didn't consider me to be from the third district. The amount of time I spent in the first district didn't even compare to the minuscule time I spent in the third district.

I grew up with Shelly and Ellen as I hung out with them ever since kindergarten. I guess we were childhood friends as we always stuck together no matter what situation we ran into.

"Rika is a person from the first district," Luke joined our conservation.

Both Ellen and Shelly could not disagree as they tried to switch to another subject. 

"We should enjoy the rest of our day here," Shelly carefully asked Luke if he was fine with it.

Luke nodded his head as he focused his attention back on the book he brought with him.

"Then we could also try cooking too!" I excitedly suggested.

I would definitely show Shelly and Ellen how to cook today.

I couldn't purchase the items in our secret hideout because I didn't know how to use the tools in the first district. However, if either Ellen or Shelly knew if there were any similar tools that were similar to the ones we used today, then we could fill up our kitchen that was there was decoration for now.

"You did tell us that you cooked in the third district," Ellen chuckled from recalling one of her fond memories.

"But Rika never cooked before?" Luke stared at us in confusion as he placed his book down.

"I did, remember the strawberry dessert," I reminded Luke of the time I made sugared strawberries for dessert.

Luke sighed as if he was getting a sudden headache from my response.

He helplessly waved his hand like he didn't want to continue to recall the sugary delight that I stuffed into my mouth before he snatched it away from my hands.

"Then we can try making cookies or cakes today!" Ellen suggested as she started to search up how people cooked in the third district with her marble that was filled with notes from class.

We all turned towards the door when we heard footsteps heading near my room.

The person momentarily stopped as he coughed before gently knocking on the door.

As the host of this house, I opened the door to find a boy around the same age as me who hesitantly looked at the guests in my room.

He possessed the same red wavy hair as me, but had mellow teal eyes that he inherited from my mother.

Instead of wearing a formal attire like the rest of us in the room, he wore relatively casual clothes that made him seem underdressed. 

"You can come in," I let my younger brother inside my room.

I was captured and put onto a stake to be lit on fire as part of the ongoing witch hunt conducted throughout the land. I had to do something. But, this life really sucked. 

This all started when I was accidentally killed by God. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kill you. It was just that I was overworked lately by my superior and I just wanted some time to relax and vent my stress out," he confessed.

"So, while I was snacking, I accidently dropped one potato chip into the human realm where the child tripped over the potato chip onto a den of steep stairs." God guilty admitted.

So I reincarnated into the most adorable girl with the largest orange-speckled eyes that contrasted her pale white skin void of any imperfections.

'How could someone look this pretty?' I thought as I admired my new appearance.

I was nowhere close to this pretty in my previous life. Did God put me into this new vessel as an apology?

There was a cheeky grin on his face as he greeted. Anne and Ellen looked a bit perplexed when they saw this.

Just a moment ago, this person was basically dancing with death, and now he was here in front of them acting like nothing happened and could even smile. Just who the hell was this monster.

"Hello, I apologize for disturbing you once more. It's just that I wish to discuss something and I think you are the only person who could answer it." Luna lied graciously. "These are my best friends by the way, Anne and Ellen. We are classmates so I assume that you should know about them."

In truth, if it weren't for Ellen literally dragging her out of her house, she won't even dare to come here and disturb him. The favor that she received from his was already immense, anymore and it won't sit well in her conscience. The two girls behind her bowed, surprisingly Ellen's fiery temper didn't explode. Anne and Luna started wonder if there's something wrong with her.

"No need to be so formal…" Raven waved his hand and continued: "We're classmates so helping each other is normal. Come, let's move locations." 

Before he walked, Raven crouched and picked up some pebbles. He then turned around threw them onto the platform where the automated crossbows were. Magically, the crossbows stopped shooting when they were hit by those pebbles. The girls could only watch his back with amazement. Was he a freaking sorcerer? How the hell did he do that?

The girls followed him as they went inside their home. At first they were expecting the interior to be extremely messy. But it seems that they were wrong. The interior of the house was sparkling clean, not even a speck of dust could be seen. There are some decorative paintings and memoirs on the wall, shelves that had old books and a long table where the boys usually gather.

"Paul, Mark, help me serve some snacks." The two nodded and went to the kitchen. Raven beckoned the girls to sit then he said: "It's been a while Lele, how's Aunt Sabrina?"

"She's doing okay! And please don't call me Lele!" Ellen replied with a bit of annoyance. Anne and Luna was a bit shocked, they weren't expecting these two to know each other. 

"Then I'll call you Ele-"

"Stop!" Ellen slammed the table in annoyance and glared at him. "Don't you dare!"

"Hahaha…chill." 

"You guys knew each other?" Anne said curiously.

"Hmph!" Ellen let out a cold snort while Raven laughed.

"She's my cousin. She just grew up in the Vermillion Sky Clan." He explained with a trace of melancholy in his eyes.

"Oh so that's how it was…" Anne replied enlightened. It was then that Paul and Mark emerged from the kitchen bringing some food and drinks. They too sat on the table next to Raven, the boys were sneakily smelling themselves thinking if they should clean themselves first, but knowing that their training isn't over yet, they decided not to.

"So, what seems to be the problem?" Raven then glanced at Luna who had been lowering her head for a while now. He knows her character too well, the way she fidgets whenever she's uncomfortable and act meekly if she's ashamed, all of this are familiar to him.

"I-It's not really a…big deal…I-It's just." Luna's voice was faint and stuttering, the rest weren't even able to hear the words she says aside from Raven.

"Ah god I can't bear this!" Ellen suddenly blurted. "What's she trying to say is that ever since you 'cured' her! Her cultivation speed has dropped in an alarming rate! She even thought that if this continued then she won't even be able to progress an inch! That's why were here!" 

Anne sighed and thought: 'Sometimes, her attitude really does help a lot.' While Luna sank even further to her seat. Paul and Mark looked at each other, confused about this whole situation.

'Cured? Who, what, when, where and how?' These are their thoughts when they heard Ellen's outburst. It seems that their brother had some dealings with the ladies without them knowing.

"Oh…" Raven nodded. "That certainly is a concern." But his face still have that friendly expression.

"Is it possible for you to help her once more? There should be a way right?" Anne asked on behalf of her friend as well.

"Well, allow me to check first. Let me take a look at the hairpin." Raven faced Luna to tell her this. She nodded and took the hairpin out, Raven held it and roused his spirit. The hairpin brightened and a bright yellow light emerged from it. The light converged and condensed into an image of a 8-winged angel that had her faced blurred, even so one could see a faint smile on her lips. After a few seconds, the image of the angel transformed into a constellation.

Everyone was shocked as they saw this, just as when they were about to ask questions, Raven gently pushed the lights back from the hairpin and handed it back to her. 

"There's no problem with this. Give me your hand." Raven placed the hairpin on the table, Luna placed her hand on top of Raven's palm. A faint blush crept onto her face which didn't escaped Anne's sharp eyes. He gripped it a bit and pushed his thumb at the center of her palm.

Luna visibly shook, she felt shivers all over her body as she felt something ran through it abruptly. She was about to flinch when Raven's firm grip prevented her from doing so. She gazed at his serious face and became a little bit dazed.

Everyone heard Raven sighed as he released his grasp, he smiled wryly and said: "I think I know what's the problem now." 

The girls focused at him and perked their ears, this goes specially well for Anne and Ellen who had been skeptical about his skill right from the very beginning. If it weren't for Luna's sake, they won't take the chance to believe him, but when he summoned the thing inside the hairpin, their skepticism disappeared. 

"You…" Raven looked at Luna. "You don't have any cultivation techniques aren't you?"

Paul and Mark were confused. Meanwhile, Anne was shocked, Ellen was dumbfounded and Luna's eyes widened before her face reddened and her body sank even further down to her seat.

"Hold on…" Anne said while pinching the bridge of her nose. "Could you explain further?"

"Ever since she fused with the hairpin, it has always been providing her with the purest forms of energies that she uses for cultivation. What's more is that it automatically circulates within her and settles down on it's own. Since she didn't need to actively do it then why should she right?"

"But the hairpin was removed, and thus the energy supply stopped as well. She had been circulating her energies according to the path her body remembered, seemingly forgetting that it was the hairpin that did if for her AND also provided her the energies she needed to do so. And like I said since it's gone, then there's no energies for her to circulate."

"The one that she had been circulating before was the residual energies from the hairpin. And because he she didn't have any cultivation techniques, then it really is no wonder that her cultivation will slow down into a screeching halt."

As Raven stated his explanation, the atmosphere inside the room became extremely strange. On one side, the boys were trying their hardest not to laugh while the girls were glaring at the embarrassed Luna.

"You!" Ellen couldn't take it, she lept from her chair and pinched Luna's cheek, stretching it and forming different polygons from it. "YOU BIG CHESTED DUMB DUMB!"

"Owssshhhh…" Luna cried while holding Ellen's hands. "Hellen! Stahp phet! Ih hurrrsss…" 

"Must be nice huh? Must be real nice huh!? You spoiled woman! Getting free stuff must be real nice huh!? So nice that it makes you a BIG DUMB DUMB!" Ellen absolutely can't hear her cries for mercy and just continued molesting her cheeks.

"Hahahaha…" Raven laughed while watching the scene, Paul and Mark joined in as well. 

Luna's cries echoed inside the room, Anne could only shake her head and massage her temples from all the chaos while Ellen was still teaching Luna's cheek their lesson. When she's done, Luna's face was swelling, it looked like she was always pouting in displeasure. Tears were running down from her eyes and she glared hatefully at Ellen.

Raven unconsciously stared at her with a gentle gaze, it looked like he was memorizing each and every details of her adorable face right now. He only stopped he felt a nudge on his leg. He looked at Mark who was looking at him with a face that says: 'You're too obvious bro!'

"I'm sorry, we embarrassed ourselves in front of you…" Anne performed a slight bow while sitting down. Raven just waved his hand and said:

"No worries. In fact, I already knew that something like this would happen."

"You do?' Anne raised her brow and asked.

"Yes." Raven nodded, he then faced Luna and said: "Didn't I tell you that I will help you become stronger so that you can handle that power? I even told you to visit us during day time so that I could guide you. I thought you were already aware of this problem and solved it that's why you didn't come."

There was another bout of absolute silence inside the room. Luna blushed even more and warily took a glance at Ellen, who was now glaring at her even more so than before. She saw her stood up and said: "You! You stupid woman! You!!!" 

"Waaaa~" - Luna.

"Haaaaah…" - Anne.

The Final Haven Kingdom.

The last known habitable place for humans. Protected by it's faithful Knights, it's walls were destroyed and rebuilt over and over again, signifying it's strength and unwillingness to bow down before the forces of evil.

Ellen smirked, "You'll know once we get there."

Song Xia didn't bother anymore.


She turned towards the window and watched Yu Jin's desolate figure in the street becoming smaller and smaller..


He was still standing there.

He seemed to have noticed her gaze as he looked at her coldly.


Those cold eyes.. made her shiver involuntarily.


She quickly turned her head away and took out her phone, seemingly playing with it.


'Time to work! Kitties are waiting for me!'


Ellen could clearly see her texts from his height so he skimmed quickly before turning his gaze away.


She was texting a different person from the one earlier, actually an editor. The content was only related to some books and blah blah.


Ellen knew Song Xia was a writer. She seemed idle and careless everyday but he knew that she was maintaining her time very well.


She even earned some money from being an author and a social-media celebrity.
