See as Merlin travels worldwide, pursuing his dreams of mapping the whole globe and helping his friends to active greatness. Sea battles; merchant travels through Asia; confronts with overpowered American natives; chased by a Russian beauty; hunted down by ancient Vikings and a lot more.

As expected rarely adventurers spoke about the dungeon. But a few experienced, the gold and platinum ranked ones knew where the dungeon was. 

Xero and Masato traveled a distance of 20000 miles in just fraction of seconds. 
The members and the guild leader already warned them about the dungeon but Masato wasn't ready to give up. 

Masato: The first few floors would be too easy, let's skip them. 

Masato used earth magic, creating a hole in the ground and wind magic to ensure safe landing. 

They stopped near the 47th floor. As per the religions scrolls the dungeons are 50 floors deep. And the dungeon master is on that floor. 

Masato: Time for some warm up. 

Xero: Yeah warm up is required before a big fight. 

Xero trained a lot with Masato, this brought her level up to 120. Level 120 isn't a big deal for Masato but for the other neanderthals it was a big deal. 

The floor had large dragons who were easily killed by Masato's magic and Xero's water blade. 

Masato: This is like a labyrinth, I can't find a way to go to the next floor. 

Xero: Use your Magic. 

48th floor 
This floor was filled with weird snake monsters having human hands and wielded a sword or a spear. Masato knew that these Snakes would be no trouble for him. 

49th floor 
This floor was something different. it consisted of many different types of monsters. Orces, Giants, Mind flayers,  Owlbears, etc. This floor was very straightforward only one way forward or backward. The stairs were easy to find. Xero and Masato decided to take a break and have lunch near the staircase. 

50th floor 
Thinking that the last floor of the dungeon will be a completely dark room with a large metal door infront and the final boss defending it but no the 50th floor was a beautiful garden. But it had no care taker. Masato used his magic to scan the area but found no monsters. 

They both start walking towards something which looked like a mansion. 
Masato being a hard core anime fan knew that this mansion has a library and in there somewhere lies a very big secret about this world or the answer to one of the unanswered questions.

Inside the mansion 

After spending 2 weeks extracting all the information from the library and discovering the whole floor Masato concluded that he isnt dead just the time in the real world has stopped. His soul is trapped in this game and he has to defeat the 12 demon kings if he wants to return back. 


He also found a world map. It gave him all the locations of all the dungeons. It also gave the location of a deamon king. Demons were basically gods top angels who had fallen because the started a rebellion against the almighty god. Under the leadership of Lucifer. But to fight against Lucifer Masato has to kill all the 12 kings. The demon whose location was given on the map was the serpent king.

Delta watched as Francois brought the bucket of mushrooms for Bacon. Delta grumbled as she flicked through her menus looking for some way to turn the damn fungi growths off. She was the Dungeon Core; she should have the authority to do it.

If she could just find the right screen or option. Delta, having no other option, just kept feeding them to Bacon to stop them occupying every little corner and wall. The only place they didn't seem to grow as the spider room and Delta was not poking around in there to look for any reason why.

Hob and Gob would be returning back soon with their bounty. Their last haul had some interesting results. Namely that while Delta asked for fish, the goblins had brought back crayfish. There was something fishy about that but the goblins didn't seem to see the problem. As far as Delta knew, crayfish didn't live in forest ponds or lakes…

Or did they? Delta didn't even know where the nearest source of water was… Maybe there was an ocean just around the river bend?

To be honest, what she knew about crayfish could fit in a fortune cookie.

Or maybe they did via magic now? Delta pondered the idea of crayfish just living wherever they damn well pleased in this world. Terrifying, but power to them. Having a few dissolved in her dungeon gave more than a pleasing result, along with more mana, rocks and berries.

Crayclaw has been unlocked in the monster purchase menu!

Crayclaw: 10 DP. A large arthropod monster that lives in water. About the size of an average cat and its right oversized pincher it uses to remove fingers and tear food apart. Requires water features present in dungeon to summon.

A new monster was always a potential goldmine. Why she got the ability to summon the Crayclaw and not boars from the pig was a question she kinda wanted to be answered, but Delta let it go when all she had was theories and guesses.

The water part made sense; Delta could even see how such a requirement was not really asking much.

Did you get crayfish? Great, now don't be an idiot and scoop up some of their habitats as well. Delta did have a pond room she could use if she really wanted the monsters in her dungeon. With a shrug, she flexed her mighty pool of 25 mana.

Delta felt it was time to put her dungeon into working order and hopefully all it would take is one hallway and some rearrangement.

Delta opened her map and tried to drag a hallway about.

Moving a hallway requires: 5 DP. Moving a room requires 10 DP

Delta hummed and juggled that cost against her 87 DP. What if she just wanted to move everything back…

Huh… no actual cost for shifting her dungeon back, the hallways looked wonky at the corners, however, as they stretched temporarily. Delta assumed there were a trick and a way to break it over her knee but she just shrugged and got to work on her new dungeon layout.

One tunnel that connected to the spider room from the entrance and then one tunnel that connected the spider room to everything else. Then Delta shrugged and pushed everything back. The lone tunnel collapsed and left the only way to progress in her dungeon was through the spider room.

She quickly shifted the confused Mushy into the new hallway with the usual cost. Thankfully, it had already been pushed out of the erased tunnel by the nature of the system.

Her dungeon returned to normal proportions and Delta waited as the new tunnel began to empty itself of soil. Planks of wood formed along the wall and the dirt became hard packed.

Everything was going swimmingly; Delta felt like a proper dungeon core person. Growing and she even had good reasons. To challenge the weak-willed to get past her spiders and stop them from meeting actual dangers.

The tunnel stopped and Delta's mental map began to scream in abject horror. A space, a non-rectangular room appeared and tacked itself onto her map.

Delta stumbled and fell to her knees as this space filled the spot of a room.

She felt a mana rise and fall as the room became "Dungeon". It was some small cave with half of the room submerged in still clear water.

Delta stumbled into it and stared at the space she hadn't created but just… claimed. The deepest part of the water glowed and Delta froze as she saw a very familiar white light near the bottom.

Another entrance to her dungeon. Hesitating before she slapped herself for being silly, Delta walked into the water and examined the small hole that seemed to vanish into complete darkness. Some underwater vein that fed off a river or the sea maybe?

Well… at least Delta didn't have to build that pond room for her fishies.

Her Mana sat at 55 and her DP pinged at 132…

Delta scrambled to spend the mana before it could slip between her fingers. Her mind didn't offer suggestions so Delta exploded another tunnel and room into existence as her menu rang with a little jingle


Cave Pond has been discovered! 30 DP spent to claim this room. 45 mana and DP gained from converted elements.

Sand absorbed.
White shell absorbed.
Common Whitetail fish absorbed.
Yellowbelly Cod absorbed.
Sand Crab absorbed.
Common Water Tangles absorbed,

Delta's eye twitched as the bells formed some soft friendly metal band that just kept ringing in her head.

Mushrooms, bells, and underwater sea caves with too much going on. Delta just wanted to make a nice dungeon layout! 

Having only 25 mana left and her mind racing; Delta just stared at the pond. If she could run into a harmless cave… what else waited for her under her very feet.

"The silly dungeon core dug too deep," she said in a...only half-joking voice. Delta waved that thought away and went to examine her new items.

Oh… she had fishies! Delta had always wanted an aquarium, or at least that's what the missing piece of what she was before being Delta suggested.

She opened the menu and found the relevant page.

Delta beamed. This has potential! What good adventure cliche would she be if people couldn't fish?

Another little jingle sounded out.

Lumen Mushrooms has finished developing! Cost 2 mana!

Delta looked around her cave and decided… just this once, that some mushrooms wouldn't be amiss.

Delta giggled and ran her finger down the purchase menu. The menu asked, almost concerned, if she really wanted to buy all the upgrades for this room?

"Fishing mini-game is a go!" she commanded and the menu dinged once and seemed to fade with shock as the pond room shook as mana filled the air.

"A Dungeon?" Old Lady Jose repeated with interest. Quiss nodded as the people gathered in the local library. There was no ancient law requiring they did so, the library just had the most comfortable seats.

"Not far out of town, a 15-minute walk at best," he explained as people muttered. The muttering wasn't anything actually important. People just made those noises because it was proper to do so at such meetings.

"Is it a dungeon like Castorms? Or a dungeon like Wallops?" asked the man who ran the pie shop. His pies were good as were his prices. His selection, however, was abysmal. Chicken or fish. And Quiss never could get the man to answer what kind of fish were in the pies. 

"Castorms. Wallops requires consent forms and proof of age," Quiss reminded them and a few share of the people grinned impishly.

"People, focus, we do not have all day to act like school children. The actual school children will be released soon and half the people here will be honour bound to go home and feed their spawn," Quiss said waspishly and people just stared at him.

"Now, I can confirm with tracks outside the dungeon and some logical leaps that may be faulty to a court of law that this dungeon may have already consumed one farmer, three men hunting goblins, and a pig. As always, we must refer to our most logical and wisest elders in these times to suggest how we proceed," Quiss nodded to Old Lady Jose, the empty chair that Haldi should have been in, and a man who was snoring.

Haldi must have gotten stuck in his shop wrangling an ornery cheese. Quiss had no idea how a level 5 lawman's locking spell had ended up on the man's door exactly as Quiss had left the building but Quiss promised to look into the incident if Haldi tried to leave before the meeting was done.

"Can we tax it?" Jose asked with narrow eyes. People mumbled appropriately. Quiss shook his head.

"Due to the Goworth ancient laws, Dungeons are non-taxable," A man with narrow glasses threw in. Quiss agreed and ignored how the man was too pale to be healthy. Poor Von hadn't had much to do as the banker of Durence, he sort of sat around recounting the same gold coins that came in and left each and every day.

"Hm…" the snoring man snorted and blinked.

"Huh? Whatcha want?" he asked rudely and his eyes drooped again but Quiss managed to jostle the man's chair to make him stay awake.

"Dungeon? Sell it to the Fairplay Company. Everyone does…" he grumbled and went back to sleep. Elder Pic was not one for people, speaking, effort or generally doing anything. Quiss aspired to follow in the man's steps one day.

"As Haldi isn't present," Quiss began and people seemed to send a thankful prayer above at this bit of news. 

"I will speak on his behalf. I feel like we should at least see what classification of the dungeon we have on our hands. I spotted goblins but that doesn't tell us much. Before we even begin to think of letting the kingdom know about this, we should confirm what we can and then decide on what to do with that information. Otherwise, we could be giving away a potential money maker and if we had more money in this town we could hire more Peace Keepers and I can stop work- worrying so much about this town," Quiss smiled politely as people looked like they might agree.

Old Lady Jose hummed.

"A town with a dungeon has been in fashion for the last 300 years, I would love to finally be on the trend… tell my hellspawn sister she can shove that insect dungeon up her-"

"SO! As we all know… or should know but I don't have much faith in this community's education system, dungeons come in many flavours. We don't have too much in the way of records on other countries dungeons. How we class this dungeon is important. Monster types would be easy. Goblins only would make this a goblin dungeon. There's only about 15 of them in the world so I hope this dungeon has aspired to be a little bit better than them," Quiss said with a wistful sigh.

"What about them drops?" a younger man that reminded Quiss of a dog that has had its face smashed in by a crush spell then dropped off a cliff for added insult.

"Another way to class them, yes. If all monsters drop crystals or herbs or spellbooks, they could be classed as loot dungeons. We won't know until go check and unless the dungeon has some odd entry requirement like Holoka's dungeon…" Quiss trailed off and the room went a little quiet.

"Well… at least it's one way of knowing if the purity rings they make their kids wear is working or not," a woman smirked, looking far too comfy in her fur-lined coat and with a long knife attached to her leg. 

"Ruli, don't you have a cute rabbit to gut?" Quiss asked stiffly and the woman yawned, showing off tight muscles in her arms and a collection of scars.

"Quiss, don't you have some child's birthday party to piss on with your sour mood?" she fired back casually.

Ruli was the closest thing the town had to the resident active monster hunter and asshole. Ruli excelled at both with minimal effort. Quiss disliked her for many reasons, shoving a fire crystal into his pants was one, scaring him mid-spell casting was another.

Ruli most likely disliked him for making all her weapons flop like props in some play, setting her hair on fire and making her prey turn into ducks near the end of the hunt.

Which is why they ended up hanging out together to drink and complain about everything together and annoy each other. It was the most stimulating thing Quiss could get out of this town most of the time.

"So, I'll skip the pussyfooting around that you like to do, wanna go dungeon spelunking?" Ruli asked, teeth like fangs. Quiss gave a large sigh as Old Lady Jose nodded in agreement.

"You two can go, anyone else here just… doesn't have time to adventure," the woman smiled tightly.

"What? Would that ruin your afternoon of complaining about fences and walking the same 6 streets over and over while we all pretend that we aren't all going to all snap one day and have a stake burning of the most annoying people in this town?" Ruli asked innocently and Quiss agreed but watched silently as Old Lady Jose stood.

A little bit of power crept into the woman's form and the Wolfbane of Durence stood before them for a moment. A being that could cut them down and make small talk at the same time. Then the legend was gone and Old Lady Jose just smiled.

"I have pies to bake," she said with a calm tone and Ruli nodded.

"Pies, important," she agreed and lifted Quiss with one hand as she quickly exited the building.

"Come on, Firedancer, we're going on a quest!" she said with wide-eyes. Quiss just scowled at the wrong-name and wondered how on earth Ruli kept annoying the town where most of the retired people shuffling about could break them with a finger.

Haldi was nice but he was also wanted in 43 different provinces for his deeds with cheese alone. 

Just because no one was brave enough to follow him here didn't mean Quiss wanted to see what would happen when the man was mildly… disgruntled.

She became a dungeon core.

Everything pointed Delta to murdering her way to success. People were just mana farms, right?

No, that was wrong. Delta refused. Then everything became odd.

Warning this chapter is an info-dump to justify partially the races of the world through the lens of our currently naive protagonist so can be skipped.

After listening to the story many revelations where revealed, Spirits, dragons, Dungeons and that Different races wondered world existed,Also a confusing concept raised in that killing living beings result in a boost in power which also lead to assumptions forming .It was confusing and the contents of the book may have been more than detailed for a child but for his needs it was usefull ,He  was happy he could gleam so much from the book.

For one the humans would be considered weak in this ecososm of power where mages where the top humans where other races far surpassed them in this aspect. Under Masons deduction humanity one of the weakest.

There existed elves which are blessed with longevity , magic prowess ,keen agility which makes them outclass humans ,In the story it depicted them differently as the hero reached different areas of the world where they were consistently different and the most abundant was the wood elf ,Mason believed these beings evolved to be better suited to magic and the use of it ,Also he deducted that there was a elf corresponding to elements and there psychical states will be moulded by these elements , Dark Elf is what he believed was from the race evolved in a dark element rich environment, Sea Elf from the evolution in water element rich environments, Wood Elfs from a rich life essence environment which was the yellow element which both healed Mason & gave him the miraculous ability, There body's from the story where described as stick but very agile which means they would probably susceptible to physical trauma  . Also in that they evolved in area they most likely stay in that area and not want to go out there ancestral ground, hence why they probably have not taken over most of the world or concerned most of the world.

Dwarfs also existed which were stunted , brutally strong and stalwart, they lived in holds or where nomadic smiths ,they are inured to magic essence meaning they cannot cast spells but they seemingly developed rune craft which allows magic effects to take place but much safer, Most likely this is the what the other races copied to get there enchanting, in the story they forged and enchanted the weapon of the hero and a smith followed him to maintain such a weapon, He assumed they evolved within a gravity rich environment due to their stunted height and strength  as well as where they mined resources in the same environment as the book mentioned they have the best metals ,meaning gravity must of compressed the  to a extent to form carbon crystals so hence there body's are strong and very resilient or maybe they were just that good at smiting .This lack of magic probably lead to their advancing in forging and the dwarfen  holds probably have higher technology than here in the area of the world where humans resided, he still didn't know how large the world was a map that encompassed the world probably was costly so he nor his family had access to it.

Beastmen where the general term for half beasts or pure beastmen  which were unable to use any type of magic and there bodys where much stronger and more agile as a result of the bestial bloodline in their veins ,The hero in the story obtained a slave beastmen and in such a cliché way he released this slave but the slave decided to follow him, From what he could gleam they far surpassed humans but dwarfs where stronger while elfs faster .This lead into the fact they seemed like a slave race or target of being a slave race due to the strongest beings are those able harness magic and they could not in any way .

Spirits are baseline magic entities which can contract with a individual as they did with the Knight in the story. They have a consciousness and From what Mason could deduct these spirits where either a simulacrum of their previous being with there memories as electromagnetic impulses stored magical into a incorporeal state and he believed the memory transfer may be not dissimilar to his own predicament or they were a true anomalous entity and spirits do exist which would mean he took over the body from the child and expunged the Child's spirit.

A dragon was the main antagonist from the story and from what he could tell these beings are very intelligent and very confused ,it can speech the language of the races, From what was described they could fly with 2 large wings and breath a fire which melts metal and scales resistant to everything from ballista and mortal weapons and resistant to normal magic, These beings where probably the apex predator of this world, he deduced either that the dragon uses phenomena to produce both these effects or has evolved to the point of being able to as the fire could be result of a collection of flammable substances in a gland in the dragon where they can release this which ignites when it contacts oxygen ,as well if it can melt metal it is at minimum  as hot as 1000-1500C which made him shudder, the ability  fly it could of evolved with a hollow bone structure ,That would mean if you could determine where either this gland is you could cause the dragon to explode from the inside or use blunt force trauma to break its bones as the scales probably deflected slashing type weapons ,Though the hero in the story just cut the beasts head off.

The book skimmed past concepts of giants which seemed to be large entities which used bows which made them a force to be reckoned with as they are like ballista's while dungeons where a recurring "monster " generator and magical beasts, Also it skimmed over information he badly wanted which was the elements and the information was subpar and only said that the hero was so chosen he could use them all and the only elements he knew of where the ones where the hero met a elf and if they were connected to a race.Also one regrettable thing which was left out was a very relevant information for Mason about how killing other living things result in a power boost.

All of this made Masons zealously speculation trying to make sure he knows as much as he can as even though it was a kids book it's still held use and he will still need to gather more books through growing up to establish the correct hypothesis of the origin of the races.

Not long after this Masons did not recognise the time but his childish body did recognise the time passing and the first true day of his rebirth was completed as he slept in the co

The Year is 2129 ,phenomena appeared within the month of June like a apocalypse decimating areas of the world where magical like anomalies appeared destroying areas like malevolent entities and it did so as if warping reality to its whim ,A new profession of analysers was born which analyse this phenomena where they must understand all the concepts of science there minds can comprehend to deduct these phenomena and try to scientifically justify it to try to save the peoples lives.
This will have transmigration element as the main factor, i now its cliche .This is just a little project im working on in spare time just to try out writing a novel for the first time   so please do give criticism where is due and help me correct and improve.

However, there wasn't just one absolute power in the demon world.
There were six demon kings that ruled across the lands.
  
Typically, one owner ruled one dungeon.
However, that wasn't a rule. It was just the general case.
  
There were demon kings that ruled several dungeons. Each of the owners of those dungeons were under their command.
  
And for the six demon kings, who were regarded as the pinnacle power of the demon world, ruled over dozens of dungeons.
  
The southeast side of the demon world.
The King of Gluttony, who ruled over one of the seven territories.
Commanded 43 owners and owned 60 dungeons.
  
"Beautiful."
  
The King of Gluttony spoke. He had a deep and rough voice.
The king was of a massive size.
He had a height that reached three meters tall, with shoulders that looked like castle walls, and two long thick arms that dragged across the floor. His arms were so huge that they looked more like pillars that supported his massive frame.
  
His jaw was so well developed that it now resembled a trapezoid. Whereas his teeth that were shown whenever he spoke looked more like they belonged to a shark.
  
The King of Gluttony slightly squinted his eyes. He raised his head, that was adorned with six horns and observed the spirit in front of him. The large, white fabric that covered his purple skin fluttered slightly in the breeze.

In front of the king, a large monster politely bowed its head. The monster was so large that the room, which had a ceiling about twenty meters high, felt quite cramped

The monster was a Bone Dragon.
It was considered to be one of the highest-ranked undead spirits.
  
The dragon's body reached dozens of meters in length. And when it would spread out its wings and take flight, it was as if its body covered the entire sky.
  
"I'm glad you like it."
  
A brown-skinned Incubus stood in front of the king wearing a black suit and a warm smile upon his face. He was responsible for the transaction between the Dungeon Market and the King of Gluttony.
The King of Gluttony spoke up again.

"Its body seems strong. What kind of dragon was it again? Is it blue? Or red?"
"It's red. One of the many bloodlines of the King of Violence."

"Oh, so it's his descendant."
"It's the fourth generation. I don't know about anything else, but when it comes to its body and physical strength, in particular, it's safe to assume that it's definitely the descendant of the King of Violence."
  
The King of Violence, one of the six demon kings that ruled the demon world.
He possessed one of the great Seven Miracles, the symbol of a king, and was known to be the strongest out of all of the dragons that existed within the demon world.
  
"It seems like he's not that interested in his descendants."
"If that was the case, then he would have to take care of over dozens, maybe hundreds, of descendants. Furthermore, he's currently resting so it can't be helped."
  
The same was true for the King of Gluttony, who too wasn't that interested in his descendants. There was even a separate military force of just his direct descendants.
  
The real reason why the King of Gluttony felt annoyed was simple. He hated the King of Violence. His existence made him feel uncomfortable.
  
Demon Kings possessed not only one of the Seven Miracles but also represented the Seven Deadly Sins
Only those that possessed both should be fit to reign over the demon world.
  
Thus, shouldn't it be a requirement to possess one of the Seven Deadly Sins in order to fight for dominance over the demon world?

The King of Violence.
He wasn't part of the Seven Deadly Sins. He just had one of the Seven Miracles that the other kings had.
  
The King of Gluttony frowned slightly to express their displeasure and gazed upon the dragon again. After thinking about the descendant of the King of Violence becoming his spirit, it made him feel a bit better.
  
"What happened to the purchase of the Death Knight and the Elder Lich that we talked about before?"
"Since you wanted the transaction to be done discreetly, it will take more time. Furthermore, since there aren't that many high-ranked spirits, there are many who are quite sensitive to the information about their number."

The six kings were currently standing against each other and information regarding transactions of high-ranked spirits were of utmost importance to them.
  
The King of Gluttony stroked the giant gauntlet on his left hand, which provided the power of one of the miracles. He didn't like the delay, but he needed time regardless to continue with his current plan.
  
'The south is empty.'

It was the area that the great King of Greed, Mammon, once ruled over. Right now, it was just a bare empty land.
But he had no intention of taking it. There were still dozens of dungeons there and even though they were weak, each of the dungeons still had owners.
  
He couldn't go there personally since he was a king. If he did, then the other kings would definitely rise up and confront him.
  
But what if he had someone else dominate the empty southern land in his place? And what if that person then devoted themselves to himself, the King of Gluttony?
  
Lots of different scenarios could potentially occur during the enactment of that plan.
He needed to come up with different solutions to handle each one of those potential scenarios. All to surprise the other kings with his newfound power. The Bone Dragon in front of him was just the beginning of his plan.
  
"I'll wait."
  
The king spoke softly and the Incubus politely offered his thanks in return.
The dragon bowed its head.

"That way!"

"Aah!"
"Aah!"

Jon and Ron both roared in response after Yong-Ho shouted. Beside them were the two other goblins, Yon and Jun, who now specialized in agility and intellect. Instead of wielding bamboo spears, each of them now wielded a separate weapon and shield.
  
Instead of fighting individually, each of the four Goblins were now together in formation.
Ron held up his shield in the front since he was in charge of defense and specialized in stamina, whereas Jon wielded an axe to attack from the side since he specialized in strength. Yon, meanwhile, specialized in agility so he used a long lance to attack any openings from the enemies and lastly, Jun directed the other Goblins since she specialized in intelligence

Together they formed a team that made use of each of their specialized skills.

Yong-Ho named the goblins, Goblin Rangers, and gave them the group name, The Four Goblin Guardians. Yong-Ho was now quite satisfied by their fighting ability against the Crazy Ants and turned his attention elsewhere.

Skull was now all equipped with a shield and armor and was mercilessly crushing the Crazy Ants before him. Yong-Ho recently evolved him from a Skeleton Soldier to a Skeleton Warrior as a reward for his fighting prowess. Before, he seemed to just randomly swing his hammer around, but now, it seemed like he planned every move.

It had now been four days since they reclaimed Kaiwan's armory.
Yong-Ho now had a higher quantity of mana, thanks to his evolution and simply developing the dungeon's facilities wasn't enough for him.
He had evolved the other Goblins, Catalina, and even Skull, who was now considered the dungeon's ace.

Reclaiming the mine with their current strength was currently impossible. That was why Yong-Ho instead focused on gaining experience.
Instead of going directly into the mine, Yong-Ho hovered around it and hunted the nearby Crazy Ants and Slimes.

'This both decreases the number of enemies and allows us to gain experience. Two birds with one stone.'

Training helped him gain experience and develop his skills, it wasn't nearly as effective as actual combat.
  
'It would be nice if I could obtain another spirit.'
  
Unfortunately, it was too difficult to obtain a spirit from either a Crazy Ant or a Slime. It was because both of the dungeon monsters, in the first place, didn't have a lot of mana, but more importantly, there was too large of a gap between them and Yong-Ho.
  
'Even if they were part of the same family, if there was too large of a difference, you wouldn't be able to obtain their spirit. In order to become stronger, you can only take the spirit of an opponent of similar strength or stronger.'
  
Yong-Ho recalled Catalina's explanation and turned his attention elsewhere. He saw Catalina fighting a group of Crazy Ants and Soldier Ants that recently appeared. Yong-Ho activated the Power of Evolution.

Just from her information, it seemed that he should evolve her right now.
Out of the five evolutionary routes, four of them were open for promotion.
There were two main different evolutionary routes that Catalina could take.
  
'The routes related to the Succubus would evolve her into a Succubus while those related to the Dark Elf would evolve her into a Shadow Elf.'
  
The Power of Evolution wasn't in its most perfect form yet. Every time Yong-Ho became stronger, then his power would become stronger as well and a new category would be revealed.
  
'The level for the routes related to the Succubus are all zero. However, the development routes are still open… which probably means that if selected she would evolve from being a half Succubus to a full Succubus.'
 
In that sense, it was a bit vague to say that it was a simple development. Rather, it was more akin to her evolving into an entirely different being.
  
Which route should he choose?
That was Yong-Ho's first major concern, however, now something else worried him. There was another category that made him more concerned.
  
'Hybrid.'
  
The only evolutionary route that wasn't yet open.
What would happen if she evolved into a hybrid? What kind of development route would appear?

Catalina was a mix between a Succubus and a Dark Elf. So instead of developing her into one of those races, wouldn't it be better for her to keep both and use the advantages of each?
  
'The problem is that I'm not certain about anything.'
  
He couldn't just hastily evolve her, hoping for the best.
Each evolution caused an increase in difficulty in filling the evolution rate, similar to how characters in games would require more experience points the more they leveled up. The number required still remained at 100, but it required a lot more experience to just fill one point.
It was also hard for him to ignore the fact that depending on the evolutionary route he took the potential development of the accessible evolutionary routes would change as well.
  
If it was a game character, he could refer to websites to get help or he could even first test it out and then get a new character.
  
'I should ask her about it.'

Even though Catalina was a spirit that belonged to the dungeon, she had her own character. She wasn't low in intelligence like the Goblin Rangers or had difficulty communicating like Skull, so it was best to go with whatever she wanted.
  
"Great."
  
After they defeated the Soldier Ants, then he would have a talk with her. It seemed like his evolution rate was going to reach a hundred as well.
  
After making up his mind, Yong-Ho waved his finger in the air and created a window of light that contained a map of the dungeon. He examined the dungeon map which allowed him to easily grasp the current status of the dungeon.
  
Catalina, Skull, and the Goblin Rangers were currently engaged with the Crazy Ants along with Yong-Ho.
Whereas, the Treant and the Kobolds were training together in front of the throne room.
Meanwhile, the Salamander was hunting together with Eligor outside the dungeon.
  
The number of spirits now amounted to thirteen. The amount of food and mana required couldn't be compared to when he had just first started with three members, including himself.

'As expected. It's better to start off with just a few and then increase their power.'
  
He couldn't increase the number of spirits.
He had to instead improve their power.
It was better to create a small elite group and then target the gold mine!

'Hm, an elite squad.'
  
Even though there weren't enough spirits to call them a troop, it didn't really matter. He felt that there was a certain romance and stylishness to the word, squad.
  
'It would be great if a similar level monster now appeared to help them gain experience.'
  
They could both increase their evolution rate and acquire a spirit.
  
Yong-Ho laughed because he even thought that it was quite a selfish request.
  
However, in that moment.
  
[An intruder has appeared in the dungeon!]
  
The Spirit of the Dungeon called out and Yong-Ho rolled his eyes. He exchanged a quick gaze with Catalina, who was just catching her breath after defeating the remaining Soldier Ants.
  
Yong-Ho and Catalina turned around at the same time. Skull and the Goblin Rangers did the same.
All of them began to run towards the throne room.

When I was 15-years-old, during the year that I graduated from middle school, my father told me this.

“The Devil’s blood runs in our family.”

That was the truth. Sadly my father was the owner of a takeaway chicken shop with the talent of turning his eyes blue, and I was the son of the takeaway shop who just happened to be slightly stronger than others.

But five years later.

They came for me.

On the morning of my coming of age ceremony I wake up with memories of my past life. I look at the world with new eyes, and it feels like I'm starting over. I remember every moment of both lives. My new world has magic, levels, classes, skills, and ability scores. It's a world where dungeons are places that adventures explore for treasure, not prisons found in a medieval castle. I know with a certainty that terrifies me that it's all real, even if I'm a dragon and it feels like a game. 

I fly down to the river and soak in the fresh water flowing down from the mountain. I should be freezing, but I guess that makes sense. In tabletop games, and most stories white dragons are immune to cold. Even with my eyes closed I know a small herd of deer is timidly approaching the river. I can smell their scent, and hear the quiet rustle of their tentative steps. My human senses were so dull compared to what I have now. I leave them in peace, and enjoy a long soak. Once my head clears I head to my room for fresh clothing. I stumble when I see myself in the mirror. My newly recovered human perspective can't help stopping to stare.

Snow white hair cascades down my shoulders. It looks just as pure and white as the rest of me. Pointed ears and short spiraling horns perfectly accent the most beautiful face I've ever seen. My silver eyes are slitted like a cat, or more accurately, slitted like a crocodiles. Tiny scales cover my hairless body. I didn't think about it before. I've been bruised, but I've never had even a small scrape or cut since being reborn into this body. These scales truly are armor. My feet are closer to a reptile than a human, and have prehensile toes ending in talons. They make climbing easy, but I'll miss shoes. My hands look human, except my fingers end in silver talons instead of soft fingertips. These would have made masturbating dangerous when I was human. A smile curls my lips as I remember just how nice my sensitive prehensile tail can feel. I have better alternatives now. I cup my breasts with a smile. Big enough to attract the eyes without constantly being in the way. No back pain. I wonder if the tail counterbalances my breasts so that my back is under less strain? I turn around so that I can take a look at my butt and tail. Wow. I'm literally the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. My hands drift down between my legs. Everything is hidden behind a slit, just like every other reptile, but memories assure me that it's all there.

A fresh trickle of my parents comforting scent drifts into my room. They are waiting for me. Even the memories whirling through my head can't prevent an excited smile from spreading across my face. I quickly dress and head into the main cavern to meet them.

My parents don't enjoy social games or pompous ceremony, so use the short version of the ceremony.

My parents wait for me in their greater forms. 

Speaking simultaneously they both say, "A century ago we welcomed a precious child into our heart and lair. Is she ready to set aside her childhood and find her own place in the world?"

"I am ready to put aside my childhood."

Still speaking simultaneously they say, "Then you are no longer welcome in our lair. Gather your possessions and meet us outside."

Just a few short sentences brings my childhood to an end. The clothes on my back, a map, a few coins, and my backpack are all I can take with me. I gather my gear and head outside. I'm glad they used the "Gather your possessions and meet us outside" alternative instead of "Gather your possessions and leave." It implies that they have a final gift for me.

Mother and Father meet me in their humanoid form. Father says "We have one final gift to help you explore this world." Mother hands me a scroll, and says. "This will grant the skill [Appraise]. Using it will grant information about your target. The information returned will become more detailed as you grow in power. It also prevents the [Appraise] skill from being used on you."

I thank them for the final gift. 

While I've never seen a skill scroll before, I know how they work. I quickly unroll the scroll and magical runes flow into my mind as raw concepts without using languages or words. The strange twisting power fills my consciousness, and the world is pushed away. When I come back to myself I'm laying on the floor just inside my parents home, and my head aches like the worst hangover I've ever had.

I force myself to my feet. I'm not supposed to be here. I'm an adult now, and this is their lair, not mine. The human part of me doesn't mind, but it feels wrong to my dragon side. I stumble my way outside, and relax when I find both of them are waiting for me. Something about them being outside turns the situation around to my instincts. Instead of me invading their lair, they abandoned the lair, and an abandoned lair is free for anyone to claim. Once I leave they will reclaim it, and our relationship will remain in balance.

"Next time I suggest you wait until laying down and ready to sleep before reading a skill scroll. The skill doesn't activate until you have a full night of sleep anyway." says father.

"Knowing about something is far from experiencing it for yourself." Says mother. 

The crinkling scent of amusement coming from them makes me feel like a child, but I take a deep breath and bury the feeling. It's time for me to live my own life. I head towards the nearest city. At least I hope it's the nearest city. My only map is hundreds of years old, and I don't even know if it was accurate when it was new.

The gods created a game-like world for their high-stakes contest, and Ciarra is the most powerful of their pawns, she ignores little things like racism, bigotry, and societal norms.

What Cale said about finding the world to be wrong, Isabelle understood it well. However, since Cale was simply an ordinary person, Isabelle thought that Cale seemed to think that it was himself who had issues.

"Cale... what you said about feeling like something was wrong with this world... you aren't the only one to have that feeling." Isabelle said.

Cale inwardly laughed as he thought that he was just making some shit up. Who knew Isabelle would actually get baited, but he continued to maintain a surprised look at her statement.

"Do you want to find out the truth about the world?" Isabelle asked. Cale acted confused. "What do you mean?"

Isabelle took out an old pocket watch from her pocket and told Cale to hold it. Cale did as he was told, but he had already checked it out with his eye of insight.

When Cale held it in his hand nothing happened. Isabelle had a sigh of relief. She was sure that Cale was a human, but she had to make sure.

"I want you to make me an oath that you won't tell anyone that I revealed the information that I will reveal to you in the next hour."

Cale acted confused and did as she was told. He felt a weird energy string tie around his wrist as he did that. He could see the string of blue energy using his eye of insight. Cale thought that was interesting.

Isabelle nodded. She had already made sure there was no one else around 

"This world is not normal. Like you said." She sighed. "This nation of flowers, the country we live in, is controlled not by humans, but fantastical beings called dragons."

Cale showed disbelief on his face. But Isabelle continued. "This world, under the veneer of this ordinary world, lies a hidden fantasy world. A hidden war for power is being waged between human's and different races. Dragons... they are one of the most powerful races and they thoroughly defeated humans and took over this country.

Over the past thousand years, humans with power have all moved to the first heaven, a land in the sky and the races like dragons have taken control of the earth. Humans who have power on earth are hidden from the world."

Cale sighed. "So... you're one of these hidden humans?" Isabelle shook her head. "You can say so, but I'm just an ordinary student, I'm too weak to fight for the human race yet."

"Fight? Is that the goal of humans with power?" Cale asked.

"Yes. It is to take back control from these creatures. They have disguised themselves as humans and taken control of society, created a fake world where powers, abilities and skills don't exist." Isabelle looked at Cale. "I was staring at you, because I noticed that you have the talent to cultivate. I was observing your behavior to ensure you weren't suspicious."

Cale looked at the ground. He didn't speak. He learned some new information, humans with power are actually oppressed and most don't even live on earth, but in a land in the sky! That was probably why Isabelle learned the disguise skill, Cale hypothesized that perhaps most humans with any power would have learned that disguise skill.

Isavelle stayed silent. She thought that Cale must have been shocked by what he heard and probably doubted her and gave him time to process it.

Cale looked at her. "It is truly hard to believe, but your serious look tells me you aren't joking." Isabelle nodded. Cale continued. "Why did you tell me this? Isn't this probably a big secret?"

Isabelle instead asked. "Do you want to become stronger?"

Cale shook his head. "I don't know about that. I am guessing becoming stronger means entering this dangerous world with a double life?" Isabelle sighed. What Cale said was indeed true. Cale spoke again. "I know too little about this world to make a rational decision."

Isabelle nodded. "Take this flash drive. It contains a lot of basic information about the world, however, destroy it once you read through it. If you agree, I can let my master meet you." 

Back at home. Cale took the flash drive in his hand. He realized that his eye of insight was indeed marvelous. He could directly form a display within his vision that could explore the files in the data drive. 

It told him about the state of the earth. How humans with abilities are at constant guerilla war with the dragons and how they have to stay in hiding. It also gave him information about different races, about monsters and finally dungeons. Apparently there are many dungeons around the world. They are the source of monsters. 

Most keep dungeons as training grounds for their races. Dungeons are hard to find and most dungeons are actually found when the monsters overflow out. It also pointed to locations of known dungeons.

Cale thought about the dungeon he controlled. He wasn't sure how he became its owner, but from the tutorial he had received, he found that his dungeon would not be detectable to anyone else for a year. This was time for the dungeon master to create a dungeon. 

Thus Cale had to collect a lot of DP to expand his library dungeon at the same time he needed to level up. But he didn't have a desire to join Isabelle's group, whatever it was. He wasn't interested in a life long war, just self preservation. Cale was selfish that way.

He did however, desire the disguise skill, so he could fake his level. Although Eye of Insight seemed to be a unique skill he got as a dungeon master, he had to be prepared for an enemy to potentially have the skill.

He selected a dungeon to try out, that was not very far away, since it was within the Rinlo City itself. He would have to take a taxi. Dungeons had been classified according to their difficulty and this particular dungeon was labelled as beginner grade.

Marcus grinned while thinking of summoning the "Demon [King Guardian Dragon]". It was everything he wanted - and epic summoning which would end this damn Live Stream once and for all. However, he didn't do it. 

The show must go on, after all, and he needed to cement both his position of power as well as his empire's position in the world. 

It wasn't just about defeating Jack - it was about making sure he would never be able to put his feet in the island again!

Only that way could both his empire and his newly-acquired loot be safeguarded. He wouldn't underestimate the King of Dragons, after all. 

To dev Joes' displeasure, he scrolled through the summoning list and devices, and then selected a few of the most basic ones coupled with a high-spec one.

"Enemy Warding", "Enemy Teleportation", "Enemy Marking", "Cursing", "Weakening", "Absolute Overpowering" and "Enemy Abjuration". 

That's right. He wanted to make the dungeon - and the whole island - a place Jack, the Dragon King, couldn't put his feet on, ever again!

"Enemy Warding" would find Jack's position on the map. "Enemy Teleportation" and "Enemy Abjuration" would complement each other, making it so Jack would be not only banished from the island, but also that, no matter where in the island he was, he would be then teleported to the Abjuration Trap range and then expelled. 

Of course, "Weakening" and "Absolute Overpowering" were needed to make it so Jack could even be abjured by the dungeon. His level might be low, but his nature as a Dragon King was so OP, no regular abjuration or teleportation spells would work against him. In fact, wasn't it for "Absolute Overpowering", a skill only the Highest-Level dungeons had, it wouldn't be possible even to ward him! 

"Absolute Overpowering's" effect was to disregard ones' nature and level by making it so that the whole of the dungeon might was centered around the being, sucking up his mana until he was dry, and making it so every move of him and skill would feed the dungeon with energy. 

It could be said to be a sure-kill move aimed exactly at OP beings like Jack - the Demon King castle, for instance, had the same spell on it. It was meant to be a plot changing device and also a last-line-of-defense for these ultra-high-level MOBs - insurance that they would never lose their lairs. 

Well, it was under Marcus's hands now. And the "Cursing" spell… well, it was a pretty little funny one, which allowed for the Dungeon Master to curse an enemy invader with a certain set of spells to be forever ingrained on their bodies, like cursing someone with the weakening spell...

And, like that, Jack the Dragon King was severely nerfed by his own dungeon - while also being expelled from his own Island. 

The nerfing itself was actually welcomed - Jack always hated the excess of information his body gave him, and he was still high-leveled enough to face an entire army twice the size of the one which faced him. 

But the looting of his treasure vault almost drove him into insanity form anger - his rage plummeted the whole island for 20 hours straight, as Jack tried to forcefully enter his old lair - that is, until it was time to change the chambers' fluid…

A story about lazyness and the true NEET life.

The year was 2031. And while it would have been not unlike any other year, what made it remarkable was the Magic Lens market release. Although to be fair, it wasn't your normal release. The blueprints, documentation, and everything else for the breakthrough device appeared out of nowhere on Reddit on September 1, 2031, instantly spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Who posted the dump? Who created the device, one that hid smartphone-esque computing power and microLED image quality in what looked like plain contact lenses? Half a century later, that remains a mystery.
All we have is a screen name: Prophet.
Growth shot through the roof for the company manufacturing Magic Lenses. Software was supplied by a variety of developers, including some industry giants.
In just one year, the Magic Lens became as ubiquitous as smartphones. Many people got rid of their smartphones, in fact.
But it was then, on September 1, 2032, one year to the day after Prophet posted the lens blueprints to Reddit, that he struck again with a new piece of software for the Magic Lens.
It was open-source, available to everyone absolutely free of charge.
We all remember how quickly the entire world downloaded it.
But when they installed it…
At first, everyone thought it was a game.
It took two or three days of people having a blast destroying monsters, using magic, and beating dungeons to realize that it actually wasn't. It was reality.
It was reality revealed by the Magic Lens.
Some governments tried to ban the lenses and their software, but Prophet had taken care of that by making everything open-source and available online. It would have been easier to shut down the internet than to keep humanity from their magic.
That's when the research began.
Magic had always been around, it turned out. The problem was that with each generation, fewer and fewer humans were capable of seeing, feeling, and sensing it.
As a result, the magic that had once been an inherent part of everyday life was confined to legends and fairy tales. The mortal world and the magic world co-existed as two sides of the same coin, never interacting with each other. Humans, with very rare exceptions, were unable to spot the magic creatures. The latter kept their distance.
To be fair, the exceptions on the magic side were far more common. That explained why about ten million people around the world went missing every year, never to be heard from again.
The magic creatures, vampires and all the rest, needed food. Vampires require an absurd amount of blood just to stay alive, while werewolves… Well, they're in a category all to themselves.
The Magic Lens restored the gift of magic to humanity. Research showed that its ability to transform mysterious magic into ordinary numbers and figures was based on quantum uncertainty, hyperposition, string theory, ray gravity, and the distortion of time-space by speed, or the gravitational difference between two points. There's more, but the list gets even more incomprehensible from there.
In 2032, regardless, magic once again became a normal part of life on Earth again.
Humans suddenly discovered that the Ural, Himalayan, and Andean Mountains are inhabited by dwarves, the forests of Canada and Siberia by elves. Fish swim side by side with mermaids, nagas, kappas, and other magic creatures. And it isn't just birds soaring through the skies; there are also dragons, phoenixes, griffins, and even creatures whose names had long since disappeared from legends and fairy tales.
Ogres. Trolls. Wargs. Goblins. Orcs. Fairies. Giants. Cyclopes. Medusas. Centaurs. Cyclopes…did I mention them already? Regular old humans were suddenly in contact with all of them.
Remember Tony Stark's speech in one of those superhero movies? (How quaint they look today.) You know, the guy in the iron suit who started by fighting normal people before moving on to superhumans, aliens, and even gods? That trajectory, it turns out, extends much further than previously thought.
But magic advanced by leaps and bounds after 2032. Humans worked on it. Studied it. Believed in it. (At least, if the clerics and other zealots of the Word are right about everything on Earth being moved by Faith.)
In other words, magic didn't become just another part of life on New Earth. It worked its way deeply into every aspect of life, developing and transforming as it went. The age of digital technology was followed by the age of magic and technology integration.
They even found Atlantis.
Sure, it wasn't that hard. For thousands of years, the state of Atlantis had been thriving on a continent hidden from the mortal world under the water, with just its tip protruding above the waves for everyone as New Zealand.
It also turned out that the old non-magical technology we used to use had failed to grasp Earth's full size. The planet is almost half again as large as people used to think.
Scientists went back to the drawing board, poring over what they thought they knew to combine physical laws with the laws of magic and sorcery.
Just to take one example, no one yet knows why the larger Earth discovery didn't change the number of days in the year, the number of hours in the solar day, or even gravitational acceleration.
Fifty years later, in 2081, our stack of unsolved riddles still dwarfs the ones we've figured out the answers to.
But humans went on living.
They learned magic at schools of witchcraft and wizardry. They visited the lands of sapient magic creatures. They hunted non-sapient magic creatures. They explored dungeons. They loved. They betrayed. They gave birth. They died.
They fought wars, too.
Back in 2040, the First Magic War changed the global map and all but destroyed the planet. More on that later.
Reddit was successful in its mission to change the world. (For better or worse? Hard to say.)
Some are still adamantly set against the usage of Magic Lenses, rejecting all forms of magic. But they're few and capable of nothing more than scattered terrorist attacks.
We've already gone through two generations—and there's a third maturing—for whom magic is just as commonplace as the internet once was. (Of course, the internet is still around.)
Just don't be surprised if you come across an elf wearing sneakers and a baseball cap, drinking a Starbucks, and tapping away at a Mac laptop. Of course, you're still unlikely to come across one like that, be it in New York, Tokyo, London, or Moscow, unless you can get your hands on a pass for the city sector occupied by the magic races. That's your best shot.
The only place where you're sure to bump into someone from one of the magic races is Myers City, the capital of Atlantis deep in the Pacific Ocean. The birthplace of magic.
But how did magic come to be?
Who was the Prophet?
Why was the Magic Lens created?
Alex Doom, also known as Alexander Dumsky, had no idea.
And who is Alex Doom?
Good question.

Alexander Dumsky, or Alex Doom, was a dark wizard. At the age of seventeen, he was convicted of a litany of crimes so long that even the seasoned investigators, judges, and prosecutors involved in the case could only shudder.
Not a single attorney could be found to defend him in court.
But four years later, Alex was released from prison to become the Professor of Dark Magic. They'd thrown him into the deepest hole they could find, one built for the sole purpose of holding wizards, and then they let him back out again...
Why him? Why then?
Oh, you're not surprised to hear talk of wizardry? Well, then you probably know that the Magic Lens, which was invented in 2032, let humans see and use magic again.
