Christmas was coming. One morning in mid-December, Hogwarts woke to find itself covered in several feet of snow. The lake froze solid and the Weasley twins were punished for bewitching several snowballs so that they followed Quirrell around, bouncing off the back of his turban. The few owls that managed to battle their way through the stormy sky to deliver mail had to be nursed back to health by Hagrid before they could fly off again. No one could wait for the holidays to start. 

While the common rooms of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and the Great Hall had roaring fires, the Slytherin common and the drafty corridors had become icy and a bitter wind rattled the windows in the classrooms. Professor Snape's classes down in the dungeons were the worst even compared to the Slytherin common room, where their breath rose in a mist before them and they kept as close as possible to their hot cauldrons.

"I do feel so sorry," said Draco Malfoy, one Potions class, "for all those people who have to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas because
they're not wanted at home." He was looking over at Harry as he spoke. Crabbe and Goyle chuckled. Though Malfoy was not as wretched like before, but he still won't miss a chance to ridicule Harry.

The 'Head of Houses' has been going around making a list of students who won't be going home, for the Christmas holidays.
Alex was not going to stay here, he wanted to check how are the things going on at the orphanage.

After the class ended Alex was the last to leave, he was waited by Daphne outside.

"Let's go together". She said.

"Do you know where I am going?" Alex asked.

"For lunch?" Daphne guessed.

"To the dormitories".

"Then let's go I don't feel like having lunch today". Just as she finished, grumbling sounds were heard from her stomach. She was left embarrassed.

"Let's go for lunch". Alex said. Though it was true that he wanted to keep his distance from other people especially Daphne, he was not heartless enough to just ignore all the efforts she was putting. Maybe it was not bad to have someone other than Nicole, to be by his side and listen to his story someday.** 

Daphne just nodded.

On their way to for lunch, they saw Ron and Malfoy fighting, which was also witnessed by Professor Snape resulting in Gryffindor losing some points.

"Malfoy is getting smarter day by day". Daphne said.

"Why would you say that?" Alex asked. This was news to him Malfoy getting smart.

"Our families have known each other for a long time, we can be considered as childhood friends. Malfoy used to be very rash, and won't even consider the consequences of his actions, how should I explain, yeah... he had a bratty personality. He has changed a lot after coming to Hogwarts". Daphne recounted.

Well after what Alex did to him, Malfoy did begin to consider the consequences of his actions. He was from a magical family, so he knew how people were differentiated from their auras, and the frightening feeling he got from Alex made him go numb. He could ask his father for help, but if he did that it would be a point of no return. And he felt like the chances of Alex being on the losing end was not so slim. 

So he chose the best way, that was to avoid Alex. If they can't be on best of terms there was no need to be enemies, right?

Alex and Daphne followed behind Potter, Weasley and Hagrid to the 'Great Hall', where Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick were busy with the Christmas decorations. Hagrid placed the tree he was carrying with him in one of the corners.

While they were having their lunch Alex saw Nicole along with Hermione and the two trouble makers rushing out.

"I am done, you go to the dormitories yourself, I have some business to attend to". Alex said and darted off like usual before giving Daphne a chance to process the situation.

Alex looked at the map and saw that the four of them were in the library. Alex sighed in relief. But if they were just going to the library, why were they in such a hurry? On top of that, no one other than Hermione was studious enough to go to the library one day before the holidays.

Alex entered the library and soon spotted them, he grabbed a random book and found a corner from where he can observe them.

All four of them were looking around, and going through different books like 'Great Wizards of the Twentieth Century', 'Notable Magical Names of Our Time', 'Important Modern Magical Discoveries', 'A Study of Recent Developments in Wizardry' and many more. They were even going through 'Hogwarts: A History'.

Alex was quite confused as to what they were looking, for as they don't have the slightest idea as to where to look for it.

Nicole spotted Alex while going through the books. She came to Hermione

"Should I ask my brother". She asked for Hermione's opinion.

"Do you think he will know?" Hermione asked.

"The number of books my brother has gone through might even shock you". Nicole said, not exaggerating in the slightest.

While they were discussing whether to ask Alex or not, Daphne came to the library and walked straight to Alex after spotting him.

"So this is the important business you were talking about? Coming to the library to read books?" Daphne asked with her arms crossed across her chest.

"It's not like that".

"Do I distract you so much?" Daphne asked.

When Hermione saw Daphne with Alex, she grabbed Nicole's hand and walked towards Alex.

"Alex we need to talk to you, do you have a moment?" Hermione said.

"Yeah, go on".

"She...?" Hermione hesitated, glancing at Daphne.

"She can stay don't worry about her".

"Brother do you know anything about someone by the name Nicolas Flamel?" Nicole cut to the chase.

Daphne wanted to say something but Alex stopped her.

"Why do you ask?" Alex asked.

"The thing is...". Nicole wanted to tell him what Harry and Ron found from Hagrid but was cut short by Harry.

"Just tell us whether you know or not," Harry said as he approached.

"What are you being so haughty for? You came for help be a bit humble and we might help you" Daphne said, defending Alex. Alex smiled towards her and gestured her to calm down.

"Potter, I certainly know about him, and I am very much willing to tell you, if and only if, I find your reason for searching about him plausible". Alex explained his stance on the situation.

"You..." Harry felt humiliated.

"But I am surprised that you didn't ask Madam Pince about it, she can certainly help you". Alex said, giving them a way to find it on their own. 

"Don't you think we know that," Ron said but was met by a glare from Alex and he could only get behind all of them.

"Now the question is why are you searching for Mr Flamel in such secrecy?" Alex once again asked Harry and the others.

"Are you going to tell us or not?" Harry did not want to tell the reason to Alex. He was sure that Alex was in all this with Snape.

"I have decided not to," Alex said as he stretched back.

"You..."

"And you better come clean with me, later" ignoring Harry Alex said to Nicole.

Then Alex stood from his seat, leaving others behind walked to a certain section, grabbed a book and went to Madam Pince.

"I would like to issue this book," he said.

"Sorry dear, no books are allowed to be issued during holidays" Madam Pince who had a good impression of Alex said to him.

"Sorry to bother you then, Merry Christmas" Alex went away.

"Merry Christmas dear"

"I want to issue this book" the boy behind Alex came up to her.

"Are you deaf, I just told that no books will be issued during this time, now get a move on" Madam Pince snapped at the boy.

The boy was left dumbfounded.

Alex took the book with him and returned to his seat, All the others except for Daphne have left.

Noticing the book in Alex's hand Daphne asked, " You certainly know about Nicolas Flamel, why didn't you tell them?"

"You also know about him, why don't you go and tell them?" Alex asked.

"I was about to but you stopped me remember". Daphne said.

"You can go now"

"You know I won't"

"Well, to answer your question, they are trying to find about someone without anyone noticing. This means they are snooping around something they are not supposed to. Things can get dangerous later on". Alex explained.

"How can it be dangerous to know about Nicolas Flamel?" Daphne was confused.

"Tell me how do you know about him?" Alex asked.

"Well, he is very famous among us magical families mainly due to his invention of..." Daphne said but stopped as if realizing something

"Now you understand right?"

"Even so why are they interested in that?" Daphne asked.

"Do you remember the news about Gringotts and Professor Dumbledore's warning for the corridor on the third floor? Connect the dots" Alex said.

"You mean to say..."

"Shhsshh... don't say that loud, just keep it yourself, we should not be bothered by it. The headmaster and the teachers can handle it themselves. Let's go" Alex stopped her from saying anything out loud.

Daphne nodded and both of them walked back to the Slytherin common room. Daphne was impressed by how easily Alex deduced everything from the vague hints and even more so was not at all interested in that.

Today the holidays begin, children can be seen carrying their luggage, bidding farewells to those who are staying.

Alex was waiting for Nicole along with Daphne in the 'Great Hall'. Harry and Ron were playing the wizard chess. Nicole showed up with Hermione. Hermione first walked up to the trouble makers said something and then joined Alex and others.

And so the vacations finally begin.

**Those who are concerned about Alex's age, in this issue please look into the fact that he has gone through many life-changing events in his life before[ that's the part of the story different from Canon] and after meeting Professor Snape. These events helped him mature early enough.

Hi everybody.

I just wanted to say that I have many good ideas for books in my head and I saw this writing prompt and thought {Meh, why not}

Since its Christmas and I have a little free time, I thought that I could try it.


So basically what I have in mind for this story, is that sheng tries to reapetatly escape from his imprisonment only to become stronger everytime. Eventually reaching the companys good monster meter to the top, and start doing their dirty business.... or not?

By the way this is my first story and yes I know that it lacks anything more than a basic skeleton but I hope I will become better with time and your constructive reviews, comments.

I don't know who I am or where, but I know I have to survive !

Today was the day💃💃. The day we had all been waiting for. We were finally going home today. After several months of so much stress and pain, we were finally going back to paradise.

What made this more exciting was, it wasn't only the semester that was ending. No......the school year was also ending💃💃💃💃. Freshmen year had ended. 

This called for even more celebration. No more stress. No more having to be sent around like a messenger. No more having to do the duties of our seniors. No more pain. No more suffering. Hurrayyyy😋

Some students had left as early as 6am. Those who were still in school went round hugging their friends. It was a happy and a sad moment. 

Happy because we were finally going to be with our parents and sad because we were not going to see our friends for a long time.

We were still going to speak on phone but it wouldn't be the same as having to speak with them in person.

It was already midday and daddy had still not arrived. It was left with less than one quarter of the student population in school. Luckily, Britney was there to keep me company.

Her parents had arranged for her to return with me since they didn't have a car of their own. I was still worried though. 

At first, I thought he might have been caught up in traffic and that was why he still hadn't arrived but now I didn't know what to feel.

I tried as much as possible to remain optimistic but it was so hard.

"What if he was involved in an accident and had died like what happened to mom?" I thought.

"No! Don't be so pessimistic Taylor. He is going to come." I said to myself but I guess I was so loud because Britney heard me.

"What did you say?"

"Oh...nothing. I was just thinking out loud. Don't mind me."

She laughed and turned her attention to the book she was reading. Britney was such a book lover. She loved to read all kinds of books and she was a fast reader too.

She would sometimes narrate the story she read to me. All the books she read were so interesting. This time round,she was reading her favourite book, My High School Diaries.

It was written by a teenager and it had everything you needed to know about High School. I guess this was her fifth or sixth time reading that book because she loved it so much.

Daddy arrived shortly. He apologized for coming so late. He had to attend to a patient who was sent to the theatre at the last minute.

"Don't worry dad. What matters is that you are finally here." I said and started to pack our stuffs into the car.

He was surprised I reacted that way. He had expected me to be so angry at him that I wouldn't talk to him. Once again, I guess Winchester had done me so much good.

We finally got all our stuffs into the car and dad started the engine. 

"GOODBYE WINCHESTER, HELLO CHRISTMAS!!" I announced.


This Christmas was going to be the best Christmas ever!!!!!!!💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃

I woke up and looked around to exactly where I was.It looked like a medicinal ward .I sat up albeit quite difficulty.It was my first time near death experience.At that time It did not seem much , must be adrenaline flowing but now that I think about it was pretty scary.Remembering those gigantic horns coming at me,I can't imagine what would have happened.Why would have to jump between them?It was 50-50 chance that I would die in that scenario.I was quite lucky you know.I should have just turned a blind eye.It is not like anyone would say anything to a 4 year child.But then a part of me questioned 'could I watch someone die in front of eyes knowing full well that I could at least try saving them?'.Suddenly remembering stories what happened to hero's,I concluded that BAD THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE.
Suddenly my family came into sight and saw me sitting on bed. I was going to say then out of nowhere my sisters run at me hugged me and started crying.I didn't know how to respond so I hugged back .They reluctantly let me go after mom reprimanded to them that it could hurt me.
me:"It is alright I feel great and I don't feel any pain.By the what happened after you know I fainted?How long was I out?Where are we "
Father:"You were asleep for a night.We are in St.mungo's hospital. Well after you fainted gabby and sylvie called for help.We rushed after hearing their voices to find you gabby holding you in hug with her foot bleeding in front of a petrified bicorn.Then I lifted you and gabby took to healer stationed at zoo directly.He said that you just extreme magical exhaustion[EME].Son you did you good saving your sister and I am proud of you for that.But do not do magic that completes drains your magic reserve you can have some disorder in future or worst case scenario you would die due to burden it causes."
mother:"dear what ominous things are you saying to your bedridden son!Gillie don't hear anything he is saying you take care and get well "
me:"Mom I am quite fine.Look!"
I get out of bed and jump once or twice to show I am fit as horse.Seeing me move around they relaxed a bit.
me:"Gabby are you alright?"
Gabby:"I am fine.Are you hungry gillie?You didn't eat all night?"
Hearing that question I just realized I do feel quite famished.I nodded.She smiled hearing that and took a lunchbox from bag and started feeding me.I was surprised But I didn't stop her.Seeing her smiling and feeding me with loving expression I felt something swelled in my heart ,as if struck by epiphany, it kind of answered of questions I was having previously.That No matter how much I want I can't abandon my emotions. It is what makes me human.Hell even emotions affect magic that just shows how much strength they have .I will use that to climb to top and Exact revenge to those wrong me.I will slay my enemies and I love as I wish.but that does not mean I will be hero neither will I be villian .I WILL DO AS WISH. With magic as the tool only I ever would need.
I finished my lunch and fed my sisters some too after listening they also didn't eat anything.Now let's initiate next part of plan.
Me:"father I wanted to learn martial arts and swordsmanship.If I had learned It then I could have reached gabby in time and took her back in time instead of using magic and fainting and causing worry to everyone."
I looked at father with determined eyes with hint of bashfulness.Well I had to say some more things and little bit of puppy eyes and joint request from gabby and sylvie to join class to get father agree to request.after that My parents said that they will take us  floren's ice cream parlour for treat.
Hearing this I got excited.Seeing my excitement all of them started laughing and I had to act bashful again.But I was really happy internally.I was going to visit Diagon Alley finally.Even after been here for 6 months I could not visit it.
After filing some papers and healer checking me again for any problems.They let me go.After which we went walking to diagon alley. It was kind of medieval style shopping district.With shops on both sides and at end of there was the pub leaking cauldron.We first went to eat Ice cream after which they each of us 10 galleons to spend and as we want come back here in hour.
Seeing my luck was good,I was left alone. I went to second hand books shop immediately rather than flourish and blotts.For 1.it will be cheap 2.there must be some books with notes in it 3.I might find some obscure treasured journal  .I went inside the shop hoping I would get some treasured journal.It was all good in cleanliness inside the shop but the books were quite shabby and dull, well there second hand books.But I started checking it out.Not many of books were useful but I still choose one I would need.As I was searching  a book fell from top shelf I picked it up. And To my suprise it was a beginner guide to dark arts which was covered with cover of adventures of a wandering wizard story books.Good Now I only  have to make sure my parents do not take this book and check it.To cover it,I has to also other buy books on other adventures.While looking around I also found a copy of journal on how emotions affect on magic but it was incomplete.Finding it Intresting,I also bought it.
After Paying for books which costed 7 gallleons.Huh they are quite cheap.I then made my way to where we suppose to meet.I also noticed some shops having christmas decoration and in all a jolly mood was in atmosphere.
After reaching the spot I saw my parents and sisters already waiting there with worried faces.But after seeing my face in crowd they relaxed.
Mother:"gillie how long did you take ?We were rally starting to get worried you know."
Father:"Okay okay calm down honey.by the way what did buy with money I gave you?"
me:"I bought story books and theory books on magic from second hand store."
father:"why did you Buy  books on magic?why from second hand books ?"
me:"well I wanted at least learn theory of magic and spell casting and the books at hand will be not enough.As for second hand store because it was cheap there so I could buy more books from there for a lesser price."
Father did not find any error in that logic, sighed.Suddenly,
Father:"Oh yes your mother and I talked about you guys learning swordsmanship and martial arts.My friend who is retired  battle mage will teach you.He lives in countryside so either your mother or me will take you there.It will be for 3 days in week as he has agreed at that timing.Gabby,Sylvie will learn in it christmas and summer holiday as for gillie you can attend  normally but take in factor you are also studying potions.So make sure you still want to continue either classes.Dont overwork yourself."
I nod and strengthen my resolve.We start walking towards home.
So,Time passes by.....

Good day my dear readers! Woohoo! Flood chapters!! A shout-out to Vee! Whom I knew throughout almost the whole book and who kept reading on and commenting of such, and also to my friend Dicky_Cummie, who helped me in founding the book and such, giving me inspiration to write, and to everyone who read this book! It really means alot to me for this is my very first book and actually, I am embarassed to share this out, I have been conceptualizing this story for like even I was young (honestly speaking), I had a dream that someday, someone will be there to show the culture of the Philippines through novels, but sadly, that someone has not come yet so then, I took the chance. So yay!

For the meantime, this is the ending of the first book of Anakdatu, a huge cliff-hanger, if this will be considered as one, but of course, I am making the sequel of Anakdatu entitled "Anakdatu: Gods Among Us", a fantasy packed with lots of enemies, more than those Splinter cell guys, and not just human enemies but monsters and mythical creatures from the Philippines with an espionage twist, but of course, I don't want to spoil you guys. I am currently conceptualizing the story but yeah, in the meantime, I'll have a break, and a KitKat, read some books to improve my writing, and so on, I guess. But I just want to express my gratitude for reading this schist, like thank you! Anakdatu? Sounds like a stupid word for something. 

That is what Ramil Liwayway's first thought when he heard that word, indeed it is a stupid name, well everyone's first thought. But what if that term simply means that it is the first and oldest espionage organization in the islands of the Philippines simply working in the darkness without us giving any notice?

(AC: I would like to say thank you liking my story. I read  comments about the harem, the worlds and some other stuffs. So I would like address this early.

Harem: MC will take the harem route but with restrictions. Not every girl he sees will be his girlfriend.

He is not the only one who has a potential romance but I will not put their perspectives in the story. Only the major characters.

Will it affect the story? Nope. 

Worlds: I already picked 3 worlds that MC would go. I won't spoil it though.

(Leon POV)

We celebrated at the Gryffindor's hall and I ask the house elf to let me use the kitchen. We apparated there and I start cooking. They are really annoying that they would forcefully tries to help me. I gave up and let them do what I told them to do. I also notice that some elves are taking notes while I'm cooking. I ask them if they would like to learn. At first they were hesitant but when they taste the dish, they immediately ask to tutor them. Probably in the future, the students would become fat because of the improve and savory taste, so I teach them some healthy dishes to avoid that incident. At the party, everyone was happy. Gryffindor students congratulate Harry, the twins are pranking Ron, Hermione was happy that she has new friends and everyone was very satisfied with my cooking. Harry was not the only one getting popular on that evening.

At the field, us 4 and Hagrid just walking along and discussing about suspecting Snape's attempt to kill Harry and steal something what Fluffy was guarding at the room. Hagrid slip of a tongue revealing that Fluffy was guarding something and tries to stop us and avoid our questions. He also reveals about Nicolas Flamel. I face palmed on Hagrid failed attempt to keep a secret.

Leon: 'Why don't you just reveal the Philosopher's stone? For goodness sake.'

The trio don't know about Nicolas Flamel and I'm not the one who'll reveal. I'll let the story reveal themselves.

After few months, Christmas is upon us. Everyone is excited, including Harry. We celebrate every year and Harry was spoiled by me and my clone with so many gifts for him. He also gave us presents as well and we gladly accept them. We're rich so we don't really care about the gift. Just have fun and that's all we could have ask. He also gave the Dursley some gift as well and I gave them some cook books for Mrs. Dursley. I swear Dudley is getting fatter every day and his mother really spoiling him.

Hogwarts was full of decorations. Mistletoe, giant Christmas trees and Christmas light. Harry and Ron just sits at the table and playing a wizard chess. I, on the other hand, just watch and was fascinated on the chess. I questioned myself. Are wizards are these lazy? You can just move the pieces with your hands and it's not that difficult to. But no, you have to magically move them. The only good thing about it is that they can destroy each other. I saw Hermione from the distance and I offer her help to pick up her luggage. She's not nervous as before but I can still see her face turns to pink when I offer her some help. She nods and gave me her luggage.

When we approach them, Harry won the game. Harry was getting better as the wizard chess but Ron is way better than him. Hermione saw the destroyed pieces and complains.

Hermione: "That's barbaric."

Ron: "That's a wizard's chess. I see you've packed

Hermione: "I see you've haven't?"

Ron: "Change of plans. My parents went to Romania and visit my brother. He's studying dragons there."

Hermione: "Good. You can help Harry then."

Leon: "Already been taking care of."

She look at me and nods.

Hermione: "I see. You two can help Harry then to find some information about Nicolas Flamel."

Ron: "We've looked a hundred times."

Hermione: "Not in the restricted section."

Harry looks at Hermione and grins.

Harry: "Leon. You need to control your girlfriend there or she will be the death of us someday."

I raised an eyebrow on Harry and Ron grins at me and Hermione. Hermione simultaneously stunned, blush and looks at me. When I look at her, she looks away. She smacks Harry's shoulder and runs away. But not before she says happy Christmas to us.

Leon: "Don't guys have better things to do?"

Ron: "Other than teasing you and her?"

Harry: "It's pretty obvious that she likes you Leon."

Ron: "Yeah. But who couldn't blame her. You got good looks and can make so many wonderful dishes. Why don't I have those?"

Leon: "What are you, gay? I don't swing that way. About my looks? Genes. My cooking? Practice of course. Why not try to play the wizard's chess competition in the future Ron? There's a lot of galleon if you win."

Ron's eyes shine when he heard about galleons.

Leon: "Remember to practice often or you'll never win the competition. You too Harry, keep on practicing on your broom and try to find Nicolas Flamel."

Harry: "Why don't you do it?" [Complains]

Leon: "I have to do some other stuffs. See you at home. Oh and you too Ron. Would you like to spend Christmas with us?"

Ron was surprise and nods rapidly. I walk away.

Ron: "Shees, his mindset is same as Hermione or even worse."

Leon: "Tell me about it. Come on, ready for another round?"

They played again and Ron still beat Harry at the game.

I went to the hallway and gave gifts for the professors. I gave the ladies some health improving potions and beauty products while the male just health improvement potions. Even Dumbledore as well. I secretly gave Quirell a cupcake with no name on it. What he didn't know is that the cupcake was made out of the spiciest pepper called Carolina Reaper with a Scoville heat unit average over 2,200,000.

I can hear the screams down in the hallway and he desperately finds water. Only I can 'save' him. Well he has no choice, I'm the only one in the hallway. So I took out my wand and cast [Aguamenti]. I sprayed him with a jet stream water and he desperately tries to breathe. He yelled stop and he was soaking wet.

Leon: "Let me help you to dry up."

Quirell: "Don't-"

I cast a hot-air charm on him but it was much stronger and Quirell stumbled down again. He smack his back head on the cement floor. Voldemort is really having a bad Christmas today.

Leon: "I'm sorry, I didn't think it was this strong." I help him get up.

Quirell. "I….t's alright. I…it was just an acc….cident."

I can hear his whisper. He's cursing at me and told me that he will kill me in the future. I mentally laugh at him.

Leon: 'If you can survive the plot. If you do then congratulations, you'll be my guinea pig for my chains.'

I wave him goodbye and have a happy Christmas to him.

Author: I'm just a normal guy addicted reading Novels. Just trying something new with and try not to bored myself from the virus that spread around the globe. 

So anyway, my plan is creating a OP character but not a battle type kinda guy. More like OP but with more logical (if my brain can handle logic) and plan just follow the course of the story but change a few things. 

I kinda do some research like re-watching some movies or read some Novels so it would seem legit but probably miss few things. What you expect? I'm not a perfect guy. I can make mistakes. Why wouldn't you leave me alone? T_T (JK).

After leaving Jake's house, comforted slightly by the thought that he was resting, Courtney headed back across the field. The porch light on the main house had been left on, and for a fleeting moment she hoped Austin was up waiting for her.
Not at all disappointed to find Grams on the porch swing instead, she climbed the steps and smiled. "What are you up to?"
"Oh," Grams looked up, startled. She floated a hand over the book in her lap. "Just remembering days past." She patted the bench next to her for Courtney to join her. When she did, Grams smiled. "This is one of my scrapbooks. I have so many and each one tells a story."
Interested, Courtney leaned over. "Tell me about this one."
Opening the cover she pointed to the first page. "This was the first picture taken of the twins when they were born. Notice that Serena is smiling and Austin is screaming?"
Courtney breathed out a laugh and shook her head. She watched and listened eagerly as Grams relayed story after story about them and their parents. Grams had even put the death notices from the paper in her book of memories, claiming all things good and bad should be remembered equally. 
"This was the first Christmas after their parents died. It was still a good day despite them being gone."
Courtney made a sound of agreement and leaned against the swing, setting it in motion when Grams closed the book.
"You haven't had many nice Christmases, have you, my dear?"
Courtney pursed her lips in thought, not over the question, but how to answer. "No, I haven't." Grams' eyes grew sad, making Courtney feel bad for her honesty. "It's okay, I never really cared for the holiday anyway."
"How can you not want to celebrate the day Christ was born?"
"That's just it, Grams. Do people even realize what they're celebrating? Everything is commercialized now with lights and presents and greed." She continued to rock the swing gently, looking out over the estate. "Besides, I never really had Christ in my life until I came here."
"Christ was always in your life. You just didn't know until now. He is always there, watching and protecting. He sheltered you, even when you didn't know He was there."
Courtney believed her, had no reason not to. And that gave her consolation.
"I think all this commercialization you were talking about helps us rejoice more. You will have nice holidays from now on. You will change your mind about it then." Grams nodded as if confirming her statement.
She wanted to believe that too. She wished desperately to have that sense of family, of belonging somewhere, even for just a brief moment. But her doubts held her back because eventually, she would go back to Arizona with mere memories and be alone like she always had been. Some people were destined to be outside looking in and wondering.
After gazing out at the clear night she breathed deep. "Grams, did you ever see that Charlie Brown Christmas special they show every year on TV?"
"Ah, I see." Grams smiled in understanding. "You think like the young Charlie Brown did, that you don't understand Christmas and all the excitement."
"No," she said quietly, and laid her head back. "I feel like the tree."
Grams looked puzzled before her hazel eyes cleared. "But, my dear, in the end everyone accepted the tree and helped to make it beautiful."
"It was still pretty much a nothing underneath."
"You're believing what that man wants you to believe." Grams slid her hand over and patted her leg. "He wins when you do that. Where is there room for change when his lies and your doubts take up all the empty space?"

Jake sat on the floor at Edward's End, Austin's shop, and helped him alphabetize the books so they could place them back on the shelves. They'd said very little in the three hours they'd been there, but he couldn't get his encounter with Courtney off his mind. He slid a sideways glance to his friend. "That's quite a woman you have."
Austin brought his head up with confusion. "Huh?"
"Courtney." Irritation grew over Austin's face, so Jake smiled. "She came by my place last night."
Austin whipped his gaze back to the stack of books in front of him, biting down the urge to punch his best friend until that arrogant smile left his face. He had knocked on Courtney's bedroom door once late last night, after standing outside in the hallway for twenty minutes debating whether or not he should. He'd been thinking about her most of the night, wondering if she was okay after they'd all bailed on her after supper.
 Of course he'd gotten no answer. She was with Jake. "Why was she with you?" Had they made her feel unwanted? Lonely?
Jake shrugged. "Must've known I was upset."
Austin sighed. Right. Duh. "I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you what was going on, but Serena made me promise. She wanted you to hear it from her--"
"Hey," Jake interrupted, "it's okay. Really, I understand." He put a stack of books to his left for the beginning of the "S" column and grabbed more out of a box behind him. "I went into self-destruction mode for awhile there. Almost lost my shit. Courtney cleaned up all the pictures I threw around the house. And righted the tables." 
Austin nodded, figuring Jake would rather talk about Courtney than Serena. He was curious himself. "What did you talk about?"
His gaze grew reflective. "Saturday night, I saw Courtney walking by Grams' garden." He chuckled. "I thought she was a ghost or something. You know, white nightgown, blonde hair, blue eyes. Moonlight."
Austin nodded again, getting the gist. 
"Well, anyway. Last night, I rambled for I don't know how long and she just stood there listening, like she knew me and gave a good goddamn. She tucked me in bed and basically told me to get over myself." He shook his head. "I was a mess, and all I know is she helped me out of it." He looked at Austin, heart in his eyes. "She stayed with me until I fell asleep, and when I woke up in the morning, there was a basket of muffins on my kitchen table where the beer bottles used to be. My house was clean."
Austin raised his eyebrows. "You trying to steal her away?" A joke. Jake could use it about now. "I got news for you then, she's not mine to steal."
Jake laughed. "Oh, she's yours all right."
The front door opened and two giggling females strolled in, one with endless shopping bags in her hands, and the other with paint cans.
"Oh, Austin, the renovations are lovely." Serena placed her sunglasses on top of her mass of curls. "I can't believe how different it looks in here."
Austin took the paint cans from his sister. "These for the mural?"
"Yeah," she sighed. "Wow. Show me my wall and I'll start this afternoon."
Jake grinned at Courtney when she set the bags by her feet. "You buy out the whole town?"
Courtney shrugged. "Almost. Serena said I didn't have enough clothes." She turned to Serena, as if accusing. "Of course, then I needed shoes to go with all the new outfits. She even made me buy a swimming suit and some lingerie." 
Austin groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Serena tipped her head back and laughed. "Well, we'll save that for later, shall we? Otherwise we'll give Austin an aneurism."
Courtney blushed.
Jake, looking leveled, stared at Serena. "It's good to see you laugh again, princess."
Serena sobered, but kept her smile warm. "It feels good to laugh again."
An uncomfortable silence filled the room.
Austin crossed his arms. "Well, I'll get the awkwardness out in the open then." Groans followed. He shrugged. "Serena, Jake is sorry for how he responded yesterday. Courtney, Jake is appreciative for the muffins and kind words. And me, well I'm not going to think about bathing suits right now. So, anyone for lunch?"

"Umm Aimi-san can you go with me on Christmas day?" Ryouta said
"Yeah! Sure!" Ikeda said
"Really?" Ryouta said
"Yes." Ikeda said
"Then let's meet at the mall at 7 pm." Ryouta said
"Okay" Ikeda said
At home
"Yes this is my chance to confess to him. I'm so excited!" Ikeda said in her mind
While Ryouta
"This is my chance! I have to confess to her." Ryouta said in his mind
Christmas Eve
"Hmm.. what will I wear?" Ikeda said 
Ikeda is confused
"I will choose this. The necklace is this one? Hmm I don't know. Ah! This one." Ikeda said
Ikeda feels excited
While Ryouta is at book store.
"Many books are interesting." Ryouta said in his mind
Ryouta is looking around. After a few minutes he saw a book that take his attention.
"What's this? A romance story. Hmm then I will take this." Ryouta said in his mind
He pays the book and he go out and he saw Ikeda.
"Aimi-san!" Ryouta said
"Nakamura-kun! What are you doing there?" Ikeda said
"Eh ugh I bought book. How about you?" Ryouta said 
"I just want to walk around." Ikeda said
"I see." Ryouta said
"Then I will go now." Ikeda said
"Ah! Wait! I will take you home." Ryouta shouted
"Okay!" Ikeda said
While they are walking.
Ryouta is looking to Ikeda's hand
"I really want to hold her hand." Ryouta said in his mind
Ikeda look to Ryouta and she smiled and look away
"Tomorrow..." Ikeda said
"Yeah tomorrow at that place." Ryouta said
At Ikeda's house
"Then tomorrow." Ryouta said
"Yeah see you." Ikeda said
Christmas day
Ikeda is waiting.
"Sorry did I make you wait?" Ryouta said 
"Nope, I just arrived." Ikeda said
"Then let's go." Ryouta said 
They go look around. They go stores.
"Wow it's cute" Ikeda said
"Yeah." Ryouta said
Let's eat. Where do you want?" Ikeda said
"Anywhere is fine." Ryouta said
"Geez. Tell to me. It's okay to me." Ikeda said
"Okay, let's eat over there." Ryouta said
"Let's go Nakamura-kun" Ikeda said
"Yeah" Ryouta said
They go. Ryouta is looking to Ikeda's hand. 
"I want to hold her hand." Ryouta said in his mind
They eat in a restaurant. 
After a half hour 
They go to the Christmas tree.
"Wow it's beautiful!" Ikeda said
Ikeda suddenly run toward the Christmas tree
"Yeah, it's beautiful." Ryouta said
Ikeda smiled at him
"Aimi-san I like you." Ryouta said
Ikeda look at him
"I like you!" Ryouta said
He come close to Ikeda.
"Eh! Ah!" Ikeda said
"Can you go out with me?" Ryouta said
Ikeda look down and look to Ryouta. 
"Aimi-san?" Ryouta said
Ikeda tears fall and she nod. 
"Then we are...." Ryouta said
"I like you too. I like you for the long time." Ikeda said
"Then Aimi-san we are..." Ryouta said
"Yeah." Ikeda said
Ryouta smiled and he hugs Ikeda.
