"Thank you for waiting! Our next dish is called Drunken Chicken. I hope all of you will enjoy and get intoxicated from the wonderful deliciousness this dish has," Huang Shenghao said before passing the plates to be served to the waiters. 
Each plate had sat bite-sized pieces of chicken with a shiny, bouncy skin, surrounded by wine-spiked aspic.
As Lu Xinyi placed her buns to the steamer to cook, she took an excess plate and tasted the drunken chicken Huang Shenghao created. BTS, an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or "Beyond The Scene", is a South Korean boyband that has been capturing the hearts of millions of fans globally since their debut in June 2013. The members of BTS are RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook. Gaining recognition from their authentic, self-produced music and top-notch performances to the way they interact with their fans, the band has established themselves as global superstars breaking countless world records. While imparting a positive influence through activities such as the LOVE MYSELF campaign and the UN "Speak Yourself" speech, BTS has mobilized millions of fans across the world (named ARMY), topped prominent music charts, sold out worldwide tours including stadiums and has been named as one of TIME 100: The Most Influential People of 2019. The band has also been recognized with numerous prestigious awards like the Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards.

The three adventurers gathered outside. Asha asked, "Boys, did you bring any cash with you?"

Both answered Yes. "Good, then we need to buy some ingredients …" Before she could continue Monojit asked. "Wait, explain to us first why a need to involve ourselves with their problem? You heard what the old man said, they can live with their children. They'll be fine."

"Yeah, I don't wanna spend without clear explanation," Ronjon added.

"Fine, actually, this is the second time I came here. My father and I stopped in this Inn once. It happened after my mother died and it was one of the hardest times we encountered. Baba spent most of his money on Ma's medicine and we had no money to pay for a room. This family welcomed us and provided food and a room for us for three days before we went back to Mangpur. So you see, I want to repay them." She folded her hands combined with twinkling eyes, "Please, help me repay them" 

They scratched their heads. How can they say no to that? 

"Okay, we got it. But what's the plan?" Monojit said.

"Earlier, I asked a driver of this road's history. He said this place was one of the resting points for travelers on the way to different villages and cities. The next would be kilometers away. They preferred to stop here to eat or replenish their stocks before they continue their journey, but ever since the big restaurant over there closed …," she pointed a dilapidated building, "travelers slowly chose to stop somewhere before reaching this road. I believe ... if this Inn starts to provide good food and sell the needs of the travelers, business will flourish again."

"Okay, but who will be cooking after we leave?" Ronjon said.

"We can teach them. The wives are still young. Base on what I remember, the Mashi who asked me was only 20 years old when I came here. So she should be 28 years old by now."

"But they have to agree first," Ronjon said.

"Yup," Monojit chimed. 

"Of course, I know that old man is headstrong so I suggest...," then her face shone, fusing with excitement in her voice, "we let them taste the food first. I can do my Baba's Bapa Pitha and a few dishes. Ronjon, you can contribute a dish or two." She clapped her hands and spun around. "Yay! I think that would be enough." The two smiled at her, affected by her enthusiasm.

"I hope this works and our expenses won't be wasted," said Monojit.

"We'll try and if it won't work, then goodbye. At least we try." Ronjon finished the decision.

Asha soothed their minds with her sincere smile. "Thank you."

The old man watched the three huddled in a makeshift kitchen in the backyard. Dusk was coming but he observed they finished five dishes. Spicy aroma floated in their noses, intriguing his stomach. He patted his hungry belly and peeked at their backs to see the food they were cooking. With one look at the simmering dishes, his mouth watered. Feeling foolish, he swallowed his saliva back. 

When the lady offered help earlier, her words didn't move him in any way. What could a small girl like her had to offer? Somehow, he couldn't turn away paying guests. For him, they were his last source of cash to enter his wallet before leaving this Inn to rot. He was sad thinking of it, but it's the reality. Anyway, they offered a meal so he would be shameless to accept and listen to their cacophonies and reject them afterward.

"Please sit down, Uncle, Mashi." Monojit acted as a host, while the two brought the food one by one.

The old man and his wives sat and eyed the dishes. It was so luxurious and inviting. They saw glistening brown chicken meat on a yellow sauce with red and green chilies at their right. A large fried fish with soft white meat surrounded by light yellowish soup topped with fried onions and garlic was placed next. Asha laid a platter of green leafy vegetables formed in a circle with golden brown ground fish meat as garnishing. Next, Ronjon brought a well-shaped Bapa Pitha arranged like dominoes and colorful flower-shaped sweets on a plate. Lastly, two big platters of rice to complete the set.

From the presentation to the wafting inviting fragrance made their stomachs grumbled louder. They fancied they were sitting in a grand restaurant and expensive dishes cooked with costly ingredients was being served to their poor selves. Anyway, it's free then why would they reject it? Their eyes lit up. The old man's tongue licked his lips unashamed.

"Please enjoy the meal," Ronjon said with a bow accompanied by his glamorous smile, the same one he gave diplomats in the hotel's dining. Somehow, the old man thought it was inappropriate for the homeowner to be served like guests and insisted they changed places, but the gesture was only an act of courtesy. The wives looked apprehensively at their husband. They were hungry and he was, too. 

Ronjon knew it, he dismissed their hesitations and delays by placing the food directly on their plates. To reject would mean disrespect. To make them relaxed, he gestured Asha and Monojit to bring three more plates for them. Six people enjoyed the meal.

They ate their fill using their bare hands with giggles and peals of laughter until the last meat was eaten. Of course, flattering words came out from the old man's mouth in excess.

After some small chats, Monojit started his sales pitch voice. "Did you enjoy the meal?" 

"Of course, it was splendid, very splendid," said the old man laughing.

Monojit opened his palm at Asha's direction. "This pretty lady here wants to say something. Please listen to what she has to say first, Chacha, Mashi." They nodded.

Asha started, "Before I'll say my plan, I want you to know that this is the second time I've been here." 

"Really?" The old man was all ears to know.

"Yes, indeed." She recounted her story and the old man was proud for helping, then she shared her plan. "What do you think?"

The wives glanced at their husband. The old man propped his chin, his elbow on the table, pondering what she said. Afterward, he looked at the empty plates, to the rooms above, and lastly to the half burnt kitchen. He blinked but didn't say anything. They waited for him to speak.

Finally, he opened his mouth with one eyebrow up. "How much did you spend with the food you prepared?"

Ronjon replied, "Twenty-five Rupees only. I spent more on the plates and bowls but you can keep them."

"What?" They couldn't believe the figure and the generous gifts. 

Ronjon explained further. "You thought the ingredients were expensive but they are not. I took most of them from your kitchen and only bought the nuts, fish, and chicken. No more."

The old man's eyes grew big. "Do you think my wives can really learn how to cook the same way you did?"

Asha spoke this time. "Of course, if you let us stay here for days. In time, they will learn."

The wives gasped and covered their curved lips with their hands, delight in their eyes. The man stood and clasped Ronjon's and Monojit's hands. "Go ahead, you're totally welcome here." The wives took turns hugging Asha and whispered, "Thank you."

The next day, Ronjon and Monojit came back with the bus drivers in tow. They gave free lunch with a business proposal, thanks to the Business Management graduate's ideas.

A week after, buses parked outside the Inn turned restaurant with a mini-shop at the corner, business started to flourish.

On the tenth day of their stay, the host family sent them away with a grateful heart. The old man couldn't stop saying 'thank you' until they drove away.

Asha kept on smiling as the wind blew her head covering. 'Baba, your recipes saved the family who helped us.' For her, she preferred to share Ninu's recipes to help others than being used by some rich stingy businessmen.

Asha is now on the brink of helplessness and despair. Would she let despair to chase her for the rest of her life? Thus, she faces the man who wanted her dead and to stand as a woman in the world of chefs. 

She will create her own dishes and make his father's recipes alive again. Her adventures lead to clues of the real killer of his father and get entangles with love. 

Somehow, when she is face to face with the murderer, will she forgive or not? The Recipe of Love will show her the right decision to make.

This is a story of a girl in her journey to become a lady chef while in life-threatening situations and falls in love. So, don't expect a fast pace cooking battles. It is Asha's journey.

The setting of the story is India before its Independence in 1947. The exact timeline is 1945. However, in the first part of the story, I didn't use during the British occupation since the places/villages I mentioned do not exist in the present country. I used Bangla words since the culture is more on present Bangladesh. 

This is absolutely a fiction story.
