"Tom look at you! Teacher was shouting. Tom was acting like an innocent child. But he knew that his acting was fake. Teacher deeply take a look of her most favorite student " Tom the Great" as he was too great and generous today. "How did you do that? Tom s' teacher Miss Rosey questioned as she was deeply observing Tom. Tom s' white shirt was now in blue colour from the end and upper part of shirt was white. He keeps many black spots on his skin but these spots were not allergic like other children. Miss Rosie glanced at the other children. Others were constantly scratching their bodies. Especially in places where there were black spots. Miss Rosie stared at Tom. Tom pretended to be innocent, as if he hadn't done anything. In the hospital doctor questioned"what happened to them? At a while Teacher told everything to the Doctor. Doctors were also amazed at Tom s' intelligence. Doctors told school management that " they all need special cure. We will take them in hospital for more then 15 days". Now there no classes at school for more then one month!

"Why you did that Tommy" Sarah asked Tom as he was reading a book. "What I did now? Tom questioned. "What you did?? Your school is closed because of you and you say what you have done? Sarah shouted. Suddenly Norm stepped in. He listen all this. " Tom you should use your intelligent brain in positive way even not in mischief or harming others" now Norm was trying. Tom was in a deep thought after that. "Ok" he says to his parents and goes back to his room. His plan was ready for tonight. "I think Tom didn't have any reaction in our advice" Sarah said as she was worried about Tom "I can't understand why he did all this perhaps he is a decent child". Norm told Sarah " I had got his problem. Actually he had a very high IQ level of more then 180. His IQ level and curiosity forced him to do that. Otherwise if he doesn't use his brain he will be sick or...." Norm doesn't say anymore but Sarah understand. She said "we will help Tom in using his brain in positive way". Norm smiled.

"Tom look at that picture, it is bacteria. You have had to study it. You also have to examine it under microscope. But keep it away from liquids, salts and acids" Norm warned Tom because he knows that his son will do all this, forbidden by Sarah and Norm. Norm handled him the slide and went outside. "What happened? Sarah who was waiting for him in kitchen questioned. "I think he will try all liquid things on that bacteria and record the reaction. While in the lab, Tom put the slide of bacteria under the microscope and then set the lenses. Then he starts examining. It was star-shaped bacteria with large cells. Its colour was red. Tom decided to test every liquid on poor bacteria. First of all he tries simple filtered water. Bacteria sock all water. When he tried tap water. The bacteria turned yellow. Then he tried juice. Bacteria s' color changed with every juice colour. He also tried different salts but salts didn't have any effect on him. Tom was feeling relaxed as he found something to do and that will also fix his curiosity. Tom put that bacteria on plant leaf and saw that the plant s' color changed. Tom then tried different semi-liquids.Some liquids made the bacteria expand and some made made him contract. But when he mixed semi-liquids with different salts and put that bacteria on plant. Plant started growing amazing flowers. Tom was very happy to see that.He decided to show this to his dad. He knew that he will be very happy. Tom took that plant to Norm and Sarah. Sarah and Norm were amazed at that discovery.

" Mommy where are we going? Tom asked as he was going with his mom. Sarah told him " we are going to a place where you can help the people. But you have to found that who is rightful or not". Tom nodded in yes. When he reached there he saw that it was a large building. The building had a large garden. There were many men, women, and children in the garden. "Where we are mom? Tom was surprised at that sight that many of the people had torn clothes and many of them were holding their tummies as they were very hungry. " Dear we are in an refugee camp" Sarah told him. But Tom was still questioning " what is that?. "Dear in a refugee camp those people live who doesn't have any home or migrated from their countries. But many people join that camp just for free food. You have to help me to find that cheap people" Sarah told him. He nodded in yes. He knows that what he have to do.

I shared the general SF dreams as a child, over 40 years ago. I never expected to play any significant part in it.
It wasn't too hard to say "good bye" to stars, but...
I never wished for a lot more, than I had - as a child. Moscow's a part (was a capital) of the Third World. So, you'd call us really poor. But I was better off than some 90% of children around - and that's what's matters, really.
The funny thing is, when you are really poor, but relatively reach - you don't have a lot of personal dreams. Some more gadgets? Right. But we do have 'em all around the world now. Dirt cheap - for the most part, too. No problem here.

The problem is... there are things I didn't dream about. I took 'em for granted. I just expected to see more freedom and less violence around every year. It isn't the loss of dreams, it's the loss of this reality of 70-s that was painful...

"I´m staying at "The Lucky Miner"
They had just finished their meal, with everyone being close to falling into a food coma. Before they left and split up again, the conversation led to their plans for tomorrow, where to meet. As Seth was still new to Ora, he suggested meeting at the inn he was staying at.
"The Lucky Miner!? Isn´t that the expensive inn at the elven square?" Lixiss exclaimed. She had a rather cold attitude until now but it suddenly changed now.
"Expensive? Well, it´s not cheap. But I would not call it expensive." Seth pondered. The night at The Lucky Miner cost 10 silver coins. That included 3 tasty meals and a private bathroom. Seth didn´t perceive it as expensive. But Seth was rich, how would he know what the poor deem expensive?
Lixiss´s eyes became gold doubloons. For C-Rank adventurers like them, 10 silver for a single day was very expensive.  A normal citizen would think adventurers made loads of money with their quests and in the dungeons, but they also had huge expenditures. They did not just need to buy food, they also paid for a place to stay, weapons, armor, and to maintain them. They also had to pay a lot of money for single-use items like potions. In the end, unless you became a successful B-Rank adventurer, 10 silver for one night was a huge expenditure. And Lixiss´s new friend just talked about it like it was nothing. The shine of money had thawed the cold beauty's attitude.
They agreed to meet in front of the Lucky Miner on the morning of the next day and split up. Seth held back Mina before she could leave completely.
"Hey. I meant what I said earlier. Would you maybe like to accompany me to my inn?" he whispered in her ear. She blushed a little and pondered and then made a slightly complicated expression.
"Not tonight. Hmm, maybe tomorrow?" she gave him a teasing smile and ran off after her brother.
Seth shrugged and left, with the Ivicer back in the pet space.
The next morning was warm and bright. Seth and Puff and a good breakfast before waiting for the party outside the in. Today they planned to enter the tower's 6th floor that held monsters up to level 35. With "Yulecats Fur" having an average level of 40 they would have some leeway on this floor. Just enough to train and get used to fighting alongside a new member.  Soon Bulko and Lixiss came into view, while Mina and mike stayed at the other side of the street, keeping their distance to the inn.
"Hey Seth!" the elvish girl greeted him excitedly. She really became a lot nicer after knowing he had money. Bulko only gave him a nod as a greeting.
"Good Morning you two. What´s up with the kitties?" Seth looked at the siblings who looked almost uncomfortable.
"They...are kind of out of sorts with the owners"
"Oh! Oh, well. Let´s leave then."  Was the thing between cats and dogs also a thing between beastmen of the cat and dog tribe?
They were about to leave when a shout disturbed the calm morning air.
"You unfilial children! Don´t think I can´t recognize your teammates! I´m not so blind as to not see you over there!"
James the inn´s owner had rushed out onto the street and was furiously shouting at the cat siblings. Mina and Mike looked conflicted and remorseful. The grown adventurer had turned back to little children being scolded by their father.
"I promised your father to take care of you! We raised you as our own children and you suddenly run off to become adventurers! 3 Years! Not coming back for three years. If Sean did not visit the guild once in a while you could have been dead, without us even knowing. Do you even know how worried I and your mother were!" with this he hugged the two siblings who had their stares fixed to the ground in shame. He hugged them tightly and tears ran down his cheeks.
What had Seth stumbled into here? A full-blown soap drama? James had pretty much explained the whole plot. He and his wife had promised one of his former colleagues to take care of his children when he was in the mines. Their mother had died during the winter a year earlier. He died during a mine collapse leaving the two children to James and his wife.
They raised the two like their own children, but the two were adventurous and reckless. Which led to them running away and becoming adventurers, a dangerous job their adoptive parents would not have accepted. They missed their parents but were also too afraid to come back and be scolded. That's why they had avoided the inn for three whole years, never even getting close. Th had not known, that their parents had actually kept an eye on their career and had become proud of them.
It was quite the heartwarming reunion and stuff like that, but Seth was glad when they could finally set off for their dungeon dive.
The walk to the tower was not long and they soon stood in the entrance hall where you entered the floors.
The tower had a teleportation formation, where you could travel to any floor you had visited before. Seth had not been to the 6th floor before, but as long as he was in Mina´s party he could hitch a ride to the floor with them.
But before they entered the dungeon everyone wore and checked their equipment. The team's eyes bulge when they saw Seth wearing a high-quality armor-set and spear. They could not know the exact rating of the items, but they could tell that they were definitely not ordinary!
Seth understood their reaction when he checked their equipment with <Blacksmith´s Eyes>. Except for Mikes Sword and Lixiss' Staff who were rated uncommon, they wore only common equipment.
Only Mina daggers had a basic enchantment. This was actually very reassuring. It meant they had gotten where they were with their own skills. This didn´t change the fact that all of them were marveled at Seth´s equipment.
"Oh wow! How much did you pay for this?" Lixiss asked with sparkly eyes.
"A lot of time! I made them myself after all." he answered with a laugh.
"You made these!?" Mina exclaimed and suddenly clung to him. "You wouldn't possibly have a pair of daggers for your girlfriend, right?"
"Shameless!" said the half-elvish girl that stated clinging to his arm. Seth wrapped his arm around Mina waste and got really close to her.
"I have nothing for free. Not even for my girlfriend." he whispered in her ear.
"Buh! Cheapskate! You are no fun!" she said and got away from him. The greedy cold beauty also let go of him after knowing that he would gift them awesome stuff.
Before they entered the floor, Bulko cast group buffs on them all increasing their defense and damage by 15%. Buffed up they entered the teleportation formation.
This place was very different from the floors he had visited before with Puffles. The floors before always looked like human-made structures. The typical dungeons with long maze-like floors and rooms. But this floor was like a small world. Like the portal dungeons that led to a space bubble.
They stood in a dark forest with a dim light shining down from the sky. The trees here were colored in shades from black to purple with grey to pale rose-colored moss and lichen growing on and hanging from them. The leaves were serrated and ranged from black to dark blue. There was no shrubbery and the ground was just wet dark earth.  A cold wind was blowing through the forest and howling through the branches above them their breath hung like a white fog in front of their faces.
"Get in formation," Mike said and everyone formed a loose circle around Lixiss and Bulko, he casters. Mike and Bulko had also summoned their pets. One was an armored wolf, which was a monster that looked like a mix of wolf and armadillo. The other was a great snapper, which was a very big and more agile version of a snapping turtle. Both had a balanced attack and defense to reinforce the frontline. Puffles, the Mighty took his place in the center, beside the casters.
The monsters that were supposed to appear on this floor were types of demonic insects. Seth had not met any demons or demonic creatures, yet. But they were a thing in the pathwork. One of the few factions that not just used the pathwork, but was able to hijack other worlds on their own.
"Be careful. These things could hide in any and every shadow around here."
"There are a lot of shadows."
"Yep."
They slowly walked along a rough path. It was only distinguishable because the surrounding trees had a regular distance between them, forming this way.

When not THE Apocalypse strikes, but all of them together, where will you be? What will you do?

Li Yun shared a ride with Gu Furan , sure she was the young mistress of the Gu household but she never held anything else other than the title . Gu Jingze didn't even purposed to her with a proper wedding ring .The wedding ring that Gu Jingze gave her was a simple silver ring without a diamond .The owner of Gu industries actually gave something so cheap to his soon to be wife .How could he gift her a car? 

Her mother in law and grandfather in law ofcourse gifted her with villas and a small village farm but all of them held a certain significance  and cannot be sold. 

And Li Yun wasn't someone who was going to be stupid once again if she doesn't have a car now ,she will work hard in future to make sure she has one .

"Gosh what a bitch ! " ever since they finished their breakfast Gu Furan was in  terrible mood 

"Honestly only my foolish brother would love someone like her ; can't he see that bitch deliberately had the kitchen make that pasta dish ! " 

Just remembering what happened this morning Gu Furan felt that she was going to die from anger, Qi Chenxi was such a manipulative bitch but her brother still treated her so nicely as if Qi Chenxi was the only pure lady in the world .

"Don't get angry Ran Ran " At Gu Furan anger , Li Yun could only placate the other party after all there wasn't much they could do .Gu Jingze loved Qi Chenxi and spoiled her rotten , if someone were to say that Qi Chenxi did something so despicable Gu Jingze would probably shoot the other party to make sure no one spoke bad about Qi Chenxi ever again, this was the level of Gu Jingze 's love for Qi Chenxi .

However, Gu Furan didn't calm down instead she started to throw more and more malicious words in honour of Qi Chenxi . Left with no choice Li Yun could only nod her head in agreement .

Li Yun and Gu Furan seperated their ways when they reached college .Gu Furan was doing a major in interior designing where as Li Yun was studying chemical engineering .Li Yun had poor EQ but her I Q was great especially in Perfumes. In her past life under others influence Li Yun helped Qi Chenxi a lot , many people asked her to act magnanimous and gentle and help her rival . Previously , Li Yun wore worn down dresses thus she didn't look so good but after getting marries to Gu Jingze ; her dressing style changed as well , which added charm umto her already existing beauty .

Li Lin was jealous of Li Yun not only was she jealous of Li Yun getting married to Gu Jingze but she also felt envious of Li Yun 's looks .

"Yo, had a proper wedding night,? Did Gu Jingze touched you at all? don't tell me you are still intact ? " 
Li Lin knew of Qi Chenxi and Gu Jingze 's relationship thus she decided to prick on Li Yun 's wounds .

Li Yun wasn't a fool anymore , she didn't agreed nor did she denied whether Gu Jingze slept with her or not if she agreed then Li Lin will send the voice recording to Gu Jingze and if she denied then Li Lin will make sure to bring her reputation to shreds after all Li Yun was part of high socialite group .Bringing someone's reputation down was an easy feat for People like Li Lin. 

With that Li Yun turned around and left , Li Lin watched Li Yun walk away and stomped her feet in anger . Just a few days and Li Yun had grown brain , she was no longer the impulsive brat that Li Lin knew . She thought that if she poked fun at Li Yun right now, the latter will definitely loose her cool but Not only did Li Yun didn't loose her cool she even made such arrogant remarks . 

No this won't do she will need to bully Li Yun 's twin brother, Li Lei in lunch today or else she will die of anger but what Li Lin didn't know that Li Yun has already asked Li Lei for lunch and the latter will not be found when Li Lin search for her .

It was exactly like I remembered it. It seemed like I was here yesterday when it had been almost a month, I still couldn't get over that. I sat on the bed, my legs crossed while John sat close to be, his hand resting on my upper thigh. The fact that" He cut me off, by kissing me, just like he did before he left, back when I had just found out that I was pregnant. Instead of pulling back, or pushing him away, I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him back on top of me.

"Mommyy!" Here comes mamma's boy. Everyday after waking up he will shout like he saw me after two years.
"Baby come on! I made your favourite pan cakes with chocolate syrup! Both of you will brush and then we can eat? Ok?" We went and I helped them brush their teeth and I did mine. By the time we went down Sean and Siana also came for breakfast. Sydney went to Sean and Luke sat on?Siana's lap. They have their breakfast like this. My kids are so lucky.
After showering I left children at their nanny's place. Dolly is very jolly woman in her 50's and stays nearby and love my children. I trust only her, Sean and Siana with my kids.
Ahhh! About my profession, I opened 3 branches of stitching and embroidery coaching classes. I named my coaching institute as AlSydLu Institute. After my classes progressed I studied fashion designing. I am a fashion designer. Sean and Siana wanted me to work with them and therefore I work at S&S creations, but this classes gave me the confidence of who I am today, that's why I still continue teaching in these classes. I work from my Institute for S&S creations, If any important work to be discussed then only I go to office. Melissa, Cynthia, Cara my initial students helps me a lot by managing my branches. We also conduct training programs for big textile companies, colleges etc. for stitching and embroidery.
Today I will sign a very big contract. It's very beneficial as per business view but my past will come back to me. In this case I am ready, I achieved a lot then what I had expected. Today I will sign contract with Martin Industries for training programs to be conducted by us in their different branches for two years. That means I will see my Lovable Ex-husband, in short Kian Martin.
I reached at my head office and started reviewing all the presentations for today's meeting. The meeting is at 12 p.m. I still have one hour for making myself ready. Am I nervous? Of course, but I want to see the shock on his face. Regret when I will show him the truth behind our divorce. I will not take revenge but I will prove my innocence. My self respect is mine to protect. I will prove him that I am not and was not a cheater, but he was one who had trust issues. He is that person who can read sign boards but still asks for directions.
I reached at Martin Industries by 11.45 p.m. I was patiently waited in conference room for Mr. Martin while once again reviewing my presentation. As usual, Mr. Punctual came in at 12, but I had my back facing to him. I am nervous to even turn and look at him, but this was my decision and I have to do this now. I can't go back from my decision. I closed my eyes and tried to gain my confidence to face him.
"Good afternoon Ms. Texas." He greeted in a very professional way. I turned and faced him.
"Good afternoon Mr. Martin." I replied maintaining stoic expression. He was so shocked that he just became statue!!
"Mr. Martin? Shall we start?" I am enjoying this state of my ex-husband!! Haha! I have read in science about solid, liquid and gaseous state. My Ex-husband is in solid state now. Ok! I have a bad sense of humour. He cleared his throat and I came back to my senses.
We began the meeting, after many discussions Mr. Martin has decided to execute the contract. Kian is very professional person, he might have sensed some benefits of this contract.
"So? Is this your plan of coming near me? How cheap you can be?" He can never change.
"Mr. Martin, I left my dirty past in past, now I am concentrating on my present and future in which you have a extra small character of being my business associate and nothing more! So I will request you to give yourself less importance. If this contract would not have been beneficial for my Institute then I would have never seen your face. The worst part is they don't even know what is happening with them. How will they share about the situation there in? When they don't even know what the other person is doing with them.

Mostly, I mean almost every one has suffered from child abuse in different ways.

It is buried in their lives as the most darkest memories.

Some people  go through it for a while, but some live in it everyday.

Sexual abuse has a lot of forms. It effects the child physically and mentally and ruins the child 's life.

God lives in child. But we don't even respect god.....

I just have a message is that we can make our children aware of good touch and bad touch.

I had experienced this bad touch. I didn't even know what it was at the age. I used to feel bad about myself and hate myself because of that cheap bastard. I was hesitant initially to share, I used to think that what will people say about me. What if they will comment on me.

It was early evening when two men walked into a bar in Austin.  The city is known for its music scene in hip clubs and bars.  This was not that kind of bar.  It was a tacky dive out by the airport.  They stood just inside the doorway waiting for their eyes to adjust to the dimly lit interior.  The place smelled like sour beer and old cigarettes.  Glancing around they saw a half-dozen patrons seated around the bar, another few seated at high top tables along the side.  Most of them seemed like theyd been there all their lives drinking cheap beer and smoking cheap cigarettes.  At the end of the room was a small stage where a lone guitarist was playing bad covers of classic rock.  They chose a space at the far end of the bar near the stage.

Coupla Buds, Luke told the bartender.  Is that Daniel Santiago? he asked, indicating the singer.

Yeah, thats him.  Are you from the record label? asked the man behind the bar.  He said someone was coming to hear him.

Something like that, Luke responded.  He started a tab and he and Tre turned around on their stools to listen to the music.  If hed ever been good, those days were long gone.  Years of smoking and hard drinking had turned his voice to a raspy wheeze.  He ended his set with a lousy rendition of Desperado before promising to return in a few minutes.

He made his way to the bar next to Luke and the bartender handed him a shot of well tequila, which he downed immediately.  Up close he looked ragged and tired, at least fifteen years older than Luke knew him to be, his face worn and wrinkled, his shaggy brown hair streaked with grey.  He was also shorter than Luke expected, five foot ten, tops.  His blue-print cowboy shirt was stained and his boots were scuffed beyond anything polish would remedy.  Nice set, Luke said.  You dont want that shit.  Give him a double of Patron 1800, on me.

The singer looked up at him in surprise.  Thanks.  Thanks a lot.  He gulped down the Patron and closed his eyes in appreciation.  Luke motioned to the bartender to pour again.

Arent you Daniel Santiago? Luke asked.

The man squinted at him and Tre.  That depends on whos asking, he replied cautiously.

Luke reached to shake his hand.  Im Luke McGillicutty and this is Tre Grant.  We came a long way to see you.  We heard youre quite the musician.

It was still with caution that Daniel reached to shake both their hands.  Sat right? he asked.

I make documentary films, Luke continued.  I was tossing around the idea of doing one about the Austin music scene.  Your name came up so here we are.

Daniel sank onto a stool as Luke ordered a third round for him.  Documentary films.  I like to watch those sometimes.  Beats the hell out of the shit they put on tv now.  Have I seen any of them?

I made one a few years back about an earthquake in Italy.  That one was pretty popular, Luke answered.

No shit! Daniel laughed.  I saw one like that.  Where that bitch got stuck under a pile of shit?  Is that the one youre talking about?

Tre started to rise, but Luke put his hand out.  They had a fairly strong quake on Sardinia.  The oldest part of Cagliari got pretty much leveled.  The host of a travel show, Bella Grant, had to be rescued out of the rubble.  Did you see it?

Hell yeah, man, you made that?  Coulda left her under the building as far as Im concerned.  I used to be married to that cunt, can you believe that? he laughed humorlessly.  Now shes all My shit dont stink, doing interviews with all kinds of famous people on tv.  Worthless bitch! he spat.

Alright amigo, Luke said, abruptly standing.  Tre was beside him.  Forget tequila.  How do you feel about something a little less legal?  Weve got some good shit out in the car.

Daniel looked from Luke to Tre trying to make a decision, but his usually muddled processing skills were even more impaired.  Okay, lesgo.

Luke settled his tab and the three made their way out of the bar and into the gravel parking lot in the back.  There was a full moon overhead and the night was cool.  So wheres this shit youre talking about? Daniel asked.

Luke turned around and smiled at him.  You see, heres the thing, Daniel.  We came all the way here to talk to you because youve been sending some pretty nasty emails to someone we both care a whole hell of a lot about.

Daniel wrinkled his brow and looked to Tre.  Weve come to ask you to stop, Tre said.  Bella is my sister.  Shes Lukes wife.

What theWait a minute, Daniel stumbled a step backwards and held up a finger.  I havent sent any messages to that cunt and if she says otherwise, shes a goddamn liar!

And thats what were talking about here, Daniel.  Its that potty-mouth attitude.  Its going to get you into trouble, Luke said calmly.

That cunt Daniel began, but Luke grabbed him by the front of the shirt and lifted him off the ground, slamming the smaller man up against the back wall of the bar and in the process knocking the wind out of him.

Bella is my wife and the mother of my children, Luke growled through gritted teeth.  If you use that word again to refer to her it will not go well for you.  Am I getting through that shit-pile you use for a brain?

Daniel, still winded, nodded silently.  Luke continued to hold him up against the wall.  If you ever, and I mean ever, send another message to my wife, I will come back and I will kick the living shit out of you from here to next week.  Do I make myself clear?

Again, the man nodded.  Yeah, man, I get it, he croaked.

Luke lowered him back to the ground and released his shirt.  Glad we understand each other.  He turned on his heel intending to leave.

Man, that bitch musta sucked your cock til you were blind.  She always did give great head.

Without even thinking about it, Luke spun and grabbed Daniel by the shirt once again pinning him to the wall.  He looked into the mans eyes and what he saw surprised him.  It was a confession of self-loathing that said, Please hit me.  Disgusted, Luke let go of the guys shirt and turned to walk away.  Before he could, Daniel fairly levitated.  Tre had landed a right hook square in the guys solar plexis.  All the air left his body, he actually said, Oooof! before he fell to the ground.

Nobody talks like that about my sister, futher-mucker! Tre said firmly.

Luke scowled at him.  Dude, weve gotta work on your cussing.

God, that was great! Tre exclaimed as they walked back toward the rental car.  I think I broke my thumb, though.

Luke looked at Tres right hand.  Sure enough, it was swelling and turning eerily purple before his eyes.  Now what have we learned?  Never tuck your thumb into your fist when you hit someone.  Lets get you to a hospital.

Twenty-four hours later in Alabama, Bella tucked Rose and Nevin into bed and went downstairs to join the others in the kitchen of the big house.

I still dont understand how on Gods green earth you broke your thumb fishing, Cornelia was saying, stirring a pot of chili on the stove.

Tre, right forearm in a cast and held up by a sling, shrugged his shoulders and raised his left palm.  What can I say?  Im a hot mess.

Its a shame you didnt catch anything, though, Bella added, wrapping an arm around Lukes waist.

He gently placed his hand on the swell of her belly and felt a kick as his unborn son shifted in his warm cocoon.  He kissed his baby girls temple affectionately.  

We caught a little one, but we let him go.  Luke looked across the room at Tre and both men grinned.

Blake Arthur Bennett always knew what he wanted to be.
While his circle of school mates desired the usual middle of the road occupations; firemen, rock stars, cops or footy players, Blake wanted to be a photo journalist.
Cameras were a magnet to him. While other kids his age were playing baseball, or attending scouts, he would grab his parents cheap instamatic camera and painstakingly take shots of everything that took his fancy. Then, whipping out his moms favorite wooden spoons he had enlisted as microphones, he would interview any live subject he had photographed. 
Whenever he received enough pocket money he would buy one of those develop-once-and-throw-away types sold at corner stores for tourists that have either: 
a)forgot their camera, 
b)lost their camera,  
c)had their camera stolen, 
d)had no taste. 
And, at his young age he did not care.

Now, at the age of thirty two, he was a true professional. And he had worked damn hard for it.
In his hand was his latest assignment, a colorful brochure portraying the events at the Billington Convention Centre, the augmented Sci Fi Showdown. 
One of the biggest, brightest annual events to hit town, the flyer skited in bold. Blake had attended many similar shows around the world, usually for his work and sometimes purely for the love.
Now freelance, he was able to photograph and write about what interested him. His boss of late had fast become unreliable and when he became fast unfinancial that was the last straw. His pathetic, excuse echoed in Blakes memory
Sorry mate, had family commitments. The cheque will be in the mail (fuckin cliché) but, well, you know how it is
Yeah, he sure did. Or perhaps he would like to imagine he did. Lets see, it would be 58, brunette, shapely and willing, definitely requiring high maintenance. Wonder what his wife would say to that. Knowing her and her American-Irish temper she would probably commit blue bloody murder if she caught him out. Shit she was built like a bloody Irish out-house!
Still, it was never any of his business, except when the last cheque failed to arrive in the mail. The thought of blackmail did cross his mind but he was building a bridge and getting over it. You win some you lose some. Once his wife did find out, as these situations have a way of being leakedwellfor all he knew the guy was already dead! Ten years of hard slavery working and goodbye Mr Arsehole! 
It all came at a good timehe had the experience and now freedom to pick and choose his future assignments. He considered himself privileged, and damn lucky, as he had enough personal contacts throughout his career to see him receive assignments all over the world and boy did he love travelling! He did not care if the subject was a celebrity brats birthday in up state New York or in the midst of violence in the Middle East. To him the camera ruled and never liedhis weapon of choicethe truth captured for historians.
Alone in his study slumped in his favorite lazy-boy chair, he took a tentative sip from a tumbler filled with a rich malt scotch and eagerly flipped through the brochure. Being an avid fan of all that makes up the Sci Fi cult, the planned events were excellent. 
Heading the celebs were Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, whom he considered the Foundation Fathers of popular televised Sci Fi. With a bit of luck, he may even be able to discuss photography with Nimoy, who was an avid photographer in his own right. Then, there was New Zealands Lucy Lawless dressed in her sexy Xena costume and Elijah Wood from Lord of the Rings. 
Their appearances were evenly spaced out over the two day event.  Colour photos from previous events displayed vendors selling their wares to eager fans young and old from all corners of the globebuying, selling or swapping. There were scores of products and collectiblesnovels, t-shirts, cups, posters, comic books, key rings, and pc games. The paraphernalia was endless. There was the mandatory autograph signing schedules and of course, the traditional costume competitions. 
And right down the bottom in small type:

He knew the readers of the monthly Connections blog and newsletter he regularly contributed to would appreciate his deftness and articulation. Huh, if they cannot attend they might as well have the next best thing. Encapsulate the readers with his vivid prose and descriptions. Tantalise his readers imaginations so they can picture themselves right there, make them see what they are missing out on. If they were astute enough to read between the lines, it would almost seem he was pointing a scornful, accusing finger at his dear readers for not making the effort to attend. This is one situation where photos did not do the subject true justice.
Throughout his vocation, Blake had developed survival skills in the exciting and many times cut throat media world of the photo journalist. In fact, it was sheer arrogance and cunning he had mastered and honed to a deadly point. A philosophy he held close was; if you wanna survive and be number one in this God damn world you gotta have ballsand slice off everyone elseshopefully without them knowing, until you were a good distance away! 
This fostered arrogance developed its roots at a young age. Blakes family were a close knit mixed bag Christian family, as Blake would describe them. Blake considered himself a casual religious man, or what he would call a non-practicing C-man. He was reasonably close to his dad and sister, but his strict mother ruled the roosta religious God-fearing, but loving mother who made sure he said his prayers daily and gave thanks to God for all the good wonderful blessed things he received. The usual stuff like food, clothes, air, water, parents etc. She neither encouraged nor discouraged his love for the camera, being indifferent towards anything that interested him personally. 
Eat your greens, think of the starving children in Africa, was one of her favorite clichés to try and bribe her children to eat up. As far as Blake was concerned the kids in Africa could gladly have his greens and any other coloured vegetable! But he obeyed when he overheard her rambling on about the Lord will strike you down and the good die young. The youngster believed his mother was certainly goodshe was his mother, though a pain in the butt with her strictness. He had another good reason to obey thanks to the nasty caustic soap taste in his mouth when she caught him cussing.  
On Saturday morning, the 4th April 1987, Margaret Sonia Bennett collapsed and died of a heart attack. She was in her early thirties. That marked the moment that scared Blake right out of any religious beliefs and he turned his back on his mothers traitor. Those seeds were planted into Blakes subconciousness and grew through his life. Be careful what you say or believeit just may come true.
This left Blake Arthur Bennett Senior responsible to bring up him and younger sister Sadie.
His father, who was quietly agnostic, and doted on his kids with gallons of generosity, bought Blake the latest Canon for his fourteenth birthday, two weeks after his mother died. It was the A1 model, and for its time, it took the world by storm. Blake, reeling from his grief took a serious dive into the world of celluloid. In his world, the camera possessed the truth. It would never leave him, or more like his neck, and would never force him to do stuff he hated (like eat his greens). 
A photo to him represented the truth of the moment, from there reality only got older. He despised people that manipulated the camera to fool people into a false reality, like double exposure and other techniques to show things that were not really there. 
After a few formal photography courses to learn the camera inside and out involving theory, techniques, film developing, special effects, night exposure, angles, motor drives, filters and so on. The best advice from his teacher was to keep shooting, never stop. He passed with honours and left knowing his eye would be stuck behind a lens until the day he died. He knew his natural talent could only be developed by practical experience and simply being there to get that one in a lifetime exclusive shot. 
One of his favorite subjects was taking lightening shots. Hundreds and hundreds of shots to get that one, two or three perfect shots. It excited him, just as winning the national lottery excited most.
But he had to make a living so he did some colour and monochrome portfolios, threw a few stories together and got a job at the Daily Dominion covering the Community and Current Events. Though reasonably paid for his efforts, in his soul, he never felt satisfied. He wanted to get out into the world instead of being stuck in a small town. The next ten years were relatively calm as he lived and breathed photographic journalism and made himself a name. He knew one day he would move to a larger upstate city or perhaps overseas. Admittedly, he had deliberately stayed in Salmore City, and it was not just for family reasons.
He viewed digital with a certain coolness when the strangle hold took the world by storm. Digital had its place and was convenient, cheap and easy on the novice. But the science, the beauty, the sacred knowledge (the endless rolls of film and years of practice) that only a true photographer can possess is only akin to a classic still frame camera shot. He saw digital as a cheat format for losers. There was no real scientific effort in point and shoot. Yes, digital for dummies was popular and there was amazing special effects that one can conjure up at a press of a PC command. But where was the challenge, the beauty, the artistry? In his view, a real photographer experiments with exposure, speed and time delay, focusing, angles, subjects, props, lights and endless practice above all. Digital versus still frame was likened to painting by numbers to creating an original masterpiece. Someone else or something else was controlling the journey and the result. 
But the camera giants all hopped on the bandwagon and held their sweaty hands out hungry for the publics almighty dollar and the incessant demand grew larger. 
Most people are just bloody lazytypical human nature he would muse.
Blake, like millions of others appreciated the 21st century technologies that revolutionized information and communicationdata transfer in the forms of ADSL, cable, satellite, wireless, and the ever shrinking microchipnot to mention revolutionized computer interactive homes and furnishings to make life easy. Not for him though, no way would he let his toaster tell him what to do! 
You could be anywhere and view the world from your laptop, tablet or mobile phone and record on the spot moments. Receive news, weather, sports, run your business, play games, plan your schedule, romantic dates, receive and send emails, surf the net, on and on all rolled up into those invisible energy molecules. And the tools were getting better, smaller and faster. Yes, Joe public knows what was happening in the world, anywhere, anytime. Communication Technology had given a virtual instantaneous connection for the reporter to the public, buthe glanced across the room at his old fashioned still frame camera mounted on a tripodthat would always be his first love.
