The woman tried to look at the source of this wave of attacks and began to lose color as she gazed at the culprit.

Krystal ,wake up ....wake up ,Krystal .Laura called as she sprinkled water onto her face .

'Krystal turns her head in her bed and Laura sits beside her rubbing her hands with olive oil .Thank God you are back Krystal ,she said and hugged her ' .

What happened to me ?,she asked Laura when she offered her water to drink and helped her sit on her bed .

Don't you remember ,Laura asked her . Alright then ,this is how it all happened .

******LAURA 'S POV *****
*My queen .....my queen .The guards secured the area and made sure no one left the chamber * .
I was only three steps away from you to bring your shackles when you slipped off and fell from the stairs to the ground .

I quickly made my way down the stairs but I slipped and held on tightly so that I won't fall to the ground .I took off my slippers and got down the stairs slowly .
It was then that ,I along with the other handmaidens began to chant ' my queen ....my queen 'severally but you were lying down unconscious while blood oozed from your head .
The stairs had starch all over and that's why you fell .I asked the handmaidens to clean the stairs as I ordered the guards to help me bring you back to your chamber .
 While I was with you in your chamber ,you were not getting any better and the auspicious time for your ceremony was passing by .I knew the punishment associated with this if you were absent so I called the handmaidens and four guards to carve a harp for you along with your flute .*

But Laura ,how did I come back to life after I fell when you just said that ,my condition was critical . From your statement ,I know that you didn't call the palace herbalist to your aid because you wanted to hide the incidence which had happened .
Hum herbs Myel ....hum  herbs .I mixed the hum herbs with the blood of a slanderer ,chanted some words and poured it through your nostrils to bring you back to life .
 Hum  herbs ? ,but what are those ? ,asked Myel .
They are special leaves used to take control over the body and mind of a person but when you mix it with a slanderer's blood ,it is capable of bringing you back to life .
Not many people know about the existence of these herbs .It is a special herb cultivated only in the night along a stream on the outskirts of the woods which lie three miles from the Ulka kingdom.
Who is the slanderer we are talking about here ?

When you woke up two hours later ,...

I took the harp and the flute  along and quickly ran to the ceremonial hall on my wounded feet .
When I got there ,I stopped, as queen Marga mounted the stage and about to start the ceremony .
I then dimly lit all the lights available behind the ceremonial hall and made my way to mount  the stage while everyone 's diverted attention was on the dimly lit light .
To gain everyone "s attention ,I went on my knees and  held the feet of the king as I shed crocodile tears and recited a poem to him .
***LAURA'S POV ***
That was when I lightened the whole place up when everyone 's attention was on your poem .
But how did you come about with that poem because we had planned nothing since you rushed of with the harp and flute when you got up  .
*****KRYSTAL'S POV ***** 
The poem was something I wrote down the first time I was told that ,I'm getting married .Out of the sadness and sorrow ,I put it down in my diary . What I recited in front of everyone wasn't the end .My poem didn't have anything to do with praising the king but I cut it short and added praises to it in his name .
I recited it and began to play the harp .The king loves to hear the sound of the harp and I noticed this the first time I set my eyes on him .He was humming on the rhythms that the harp produced while we were still in Swaji .
But how did you know that ,I play the harp ? 
***LAURA'S POV ***
While looking for your olive oil within your things ,your diary fell down and the first page had the drawing of the harp while it lied downed opened .I took it and saw all the dimensions and musical keys you had made out of the drawing of the harp .In the same way ,I had them carve yours for you because I wanted a reason to cover up for your absence and lateness .I wanted  them to explore the different talents in you .
*****KRYSTAL'S POV *****
The harp was an instrument that my sister and I learnt how to play when we were kids .Our mum taught us .It was her favourite instrument .She would play the harp all day long and sing her melodious melody with her sweet voice .I still remember the joy on her face each time she sang and played the harp,she said while her voice expelled the pain she was feeling out  .
Where is my sister now ? ,she added .
When I began to bleed on my feet ,I couldn't think of anything else .I got everyone's attention in the hall but my heart will only respond when the song reaches out to the one whom it truly belongs .
The last thing I remember is that ,I retorted against the king and he raised his sword at my neck, then why am I still alive then, Laura ? did he suddenly feel compassion for me ?*
No ,Laura answered .Yes ,you retorted against the king yesterday when you fell at his feet on your injured feet but it WAS ONLY IN YOUR IMAGINATIONS NOT YOUR ACTIONS .

"TRAPPED IN HER ENMITY ...KRYSTAL'S BRUTAL RETURN " .

The team had started to get used to Li Ang's behavior so they did not visibly react. They only criticized him silently.
After planting the land mines, the team left the basement. Li Ang took out an electric motor, a welding machine, and a bunch of steel odds and ends. Using all these, he built a vacuum cleaner, absorbed all the dust on the floor, and sprayed it out again to erase any traces of footsteps. 
Next, the team headed to the other places in Solitary Temple and planted various concealed land mines. The day of the banquet was drawing close, and the temple was about to be filled with demons. Hence, these mines needed to be remotely controlled to prevent any accidental explosions from happening.
Then, the team used the information Chai Cuiqiao provided and the geography of Solitary Temple to create a plan to kill the mandrill. This plan included ways to deal with the participating demons.
Time flew so five days passed quickly. Nothing happened during this period. All was calm.
On the night of the sixth day, the battle-ready team returned to its assigned room to rest.
At midnight, Li Ang was lying in bed and chatting with Chai Cuiqiao about the world the spirits could see.
Li Ang asked, "People become spirits after death. Does the netherworld not send out people to lead these spirits away?"
Chai Cuiqiao replied, "Usually, yes. However, there are some places untouched by people where spirits will stay on. Nourished by the Death Qi, they become vengeful ghosts that wreak havoc. They will either become greater ghosts or will be forced to be reincarnated by Daoists or monks." 
Chai Cuiqiao paused for a while. As though she was afraid that Li Ang might misunderstand, she explained further. "Of course, there are some ordinary ghosts who are less vengeful. However, because their skeletons are buried in places where the Yin Qi is abundant, these ghosts live on. They do not come into contact with the living and live peacefully side-by-side. Under special circumstances, these ghosts will even help the living."
Li Ang nodded upon hearing that. The book The Thatched Study of Close Scrutiny narrated the story of a ghost who had helped a human.
A man surnamed Liao, who had lived in the north village of the Guangdong District, had buried the nameless skeletons he had found by the village, helped them build a tomb, and formed a burial ground.
Later on, a plague had befallen the district. The man had dreamed that more than 100 people had stood before his house and one of them had approached him and said, "The plague demon is about to arrive. We hope you can burn a dozen paper war flags and 100 wooden knives wrapped in tinfoil to prepare us for battle with the plague demon and repay our gratitude." 
The man had been inquisitive by nature and had thus followed the instructions.
One night a few days later, the villagers had heard a ruckus outside. It had been the sound of weapons clashing, as though a military battle was happening. This noise had stopped during daybreak.
During this plague, no one in the village had been infected.
Stories like these were recorded in novels like The Thatched Study of Close Scrutiny, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, and Miscellaneous Stories from Youyang. Chai Cuiqiao also explained in deeper detail about the netherworld to let Li Ang know that the dead and the living were not completely on opposite teams. 
As Li Ang was engrossed in listening to her, he heard a chant coming from outside the temple. Two people could be heard arguing outside and a fight occurred. 
A ghost?
Li Ang raised his eyebrow. A ghost outside shouted, "This fella is criticizing my poem. This made me really angry so I beat him up. Why don't you listen to my piece and give your opinion, sir?"
The ghost started to recite its own poem, even throwing punches to create a beat.
The poem included more than 100 stanzas. Another ghost listened to it recite while moaning in pain and ridiculing the poem for how unsophisticated it was.
Li Ang listened carefully as he sat by the window. This poem seemed to indeed be very average, as if an uncultured person was throwing flowery words together to write a poem.
"What do you think of this piece, sir?"
Li Ang smiled and replied, "My body's condition is not very good so I'm most likely unable to withstand your punches."
The ghost being punched started laughing boisterously, while the ghost reciting the poem was so angry it could not speak. It chose to leave instead. As it left, it muttered, "How dare they!"
The two ghosts left and the temple courtyard regained its peace. Li Ang and Chai Cuiqiao looked at each other.
Tomorrow marked the seventh day, which was also the last day of the time limit set by the system for the quest. The ghosts participating in the banquet would be arriving tomorrow… 
The next morning, the team gathered in the courtyard to boil water and make breakfast. Upon seeing Hanging Sword for Ten Thousand Miles' dark eye circles, Xing Hechou asked, "Did you not sleep well last night?"
"Let's not talk about that," Hanging Sword for Ten Thousand Miles said reluctantly. "I had a dream last night that a slender figure in palace clothes was cleaning my room.
"Her figure was really nice. I subconsciously left my bed with the intention of taking a peek at her face to see if I could make my carnal desires come true.
"In the end, she turned her head when she heard footsteps. While her figure was astoundingly nice, her face was that of a black fat man with a beard. I was so shocked that I lay on the bed, unable to fall asleep."
It had been a nightmare. Xing Hechou and Hui Bing smiled, but Li Ang nodded in contemplation. "It might not have been a dream."
"Ah?" Hanging Sword for Ten Thousand Miles was shocked. He was not afraid of ghosts, but if that man-faced, female-shaped demon was real, what had it tried to do to him?
Perhaps for some back-door action?
He shuddered. Before he could clarify this further, he saw Li Ang run into his room.
Everything was normal in Hanging Sword for Ten Thousand Miles' room. However, there was a faint fragrance in the air.
Sniff, sniff.
After smelling it carefully, he realized a foul smell seemed to be intertwined with this fragrance…
Li Ang frowned slightly. He kicked the floor once and the walls twice and hooked his arm on the roof beams.
Like a cat, he flipped his body on a beam and realized that he was not the only one there. 
A male fox with a coat of black fur and an exceedingly long beard was sprawled on the beam as well.
"Hello?" Li Ang spoke up first.
The black fox was stunned for a moment before replying in a coarse, vulgar voice, "Yo?"
Li Ang was shocked for a second before inquiring, "You are a fox from the Fujian Province?"
"Eh?" the black fox exclaimed. "How did you know that?"
He he… Because of your accent.


Many strange phenomena have been happening in Yin City. Li Ang—whose alias is Li Risheng—becomes embroiled  in an absolute real game of life-and-death, known as Killing Field. 
Using his above average analytical and deductive skills, he completes different quests assigned by the system, such as eliminating supernatural beings or solving cases, while trying to unravel the true nature of the game.

"She doesn't have a name yet?" Kace was surprised as he also forgot to ask the name of the baby.
"I want named her Serefina junior, but I don't think you will like it." Serefina glanced at the baby, she didn't have any idea what name would suit her, thus it was better to leave this insignificant matter to Kace to think about.
Kace's nose scrunched in pure disgust by her idea. He would totally go against it. What kind of name was that?
Kace was looking at the sleeping baby, her lips slightly opened and her little pointed nose was so small. She was so vulnerable, yet she was the most substantial entity in his life.
Kace wished nothing for her but her happiness, just like how she brought the light in the end of the tunnel of his penitence.
And then Kace remembered this poem, the poem that he heard long time ago…

When Kace watched the baby, that poem echoed in his head. The only poem that he remembered because it questions many things that he wanted to ask.
"Hope." Kace caressed the baby's chubby cheeks and rested his forefinger on her small palm, when the baby curled her fingers around it, the warmth spread in Kace's heart. "Her name is Hope."
His hope…

At first Serefina disagreed with the name that Kace chose for the baby as it sounded weird, but definitely Kace wouldn't even budge with his decision.
Well, he has his own philosophy for this, as that name meant something for him.
Serefina never knew that the youngest Donovan had this sensitive spot and went all the way to this cheesy name. At least, the witch thought that way because when Kace told Ariana and Alec, they liked the name.
The second problem was; Kace disagreed with Serefina's decision to take away his mate and raised her all by herself.
It wasn't that Kace didn't trust her to take care of Hope, but with Serefina's personality, he didn't think that his mate would be in good hand…
But the witch argued him back.
Her point was clear. With Kace and Serefina were not together, it would be difficult for them to be found. Especially when Kace needed to move from one place to another, in order to avoid Jedrek's people, who were still looking for his whereabouts, even after decades had passed.
As for Serefina, she was the master of it. She could chant as much spell as she wanted to protect her surroundings or manipulate her smell, so it was almost impossible to trace her.
But, with Kace near her, his presence alone was a disruption for her spell.
In the end, Kace agreed with Serefina's idea to raise his mate with one condition; Serefina would bring his mate to meet him once a year in her birthday until she reached the age of eighteen when she had mature enough.
Though he had to be separated, but this was for her safety.
In the night before Serefina would bring away his mate, Kace let the baby slept in his arms, spending the entire night to keep her safe in his arms.
"Why don't you sleep?" Ariana sat down next to Kace as she smiled at the baby.
"I just want to spend a little more time with her." Kace stated, there was no trace of tiredness on his face as firmly cradled the baby in his strong arms.
"She is so cute. I bet she will be a beauty when she grows up." Ariana caressed the baby's black hair. "I think you want her to grow up quickly." She made a conclusion.
Yet, Kace shook his head. "No. I just want her to live happily, cherish every moment and be healthy."
The sound of the Lycan's voice was very genuine and pure.
As Kace had given her, her name and watched her grew up. Kace would be everything for her. Her brother, her guardian, her protector and everything that she needed.
He would shower her with love.
"Hm, I agree with that…" Ariana nodded. "But, I still can't believe it that you have a mate. I don't know if the moon goddess had lifted the curse from the three of you."
If Ariana didn't watch the way Kace reacted around Hope, she wouldn't believe it, but Kace's overprotectiveness and the way he looked her it confirmed everything.
"Not many people know about this." but now, Alec and Ariana knew about it as well.
"Regardless, I am happy for you." Ariana said sincerely.
"Thank you…" but, before even Kace could give Ariana a proper respond, Serefina had stormed inside the room and with her demanding tone, she said;
"We need to go from here, immediately." Serefina walked over toward Kace and extending her arms, asking for Hope. "Maximus will be here in less than five minutes."

A year ago Raine was discharged from mental institution and had to live in the orphanage. It wasn't the best place. At least not for someone like her.

Until one faithful night she met him.

The clutched on the blanket tightened as Raine wonder if she did something wrong. She could feel it when Torak reached out his hand at her.

Will he hit me? Raine shivered with that thought.

Torak pulled back the hoodie off her head and gently tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Don't." He said firmly, "I want to see you, don't hide yourself…"

“The spirit of the guardian angel will breathe new life into human child. Three guardian angels will be born into terrestrial world once again and the three of you will be their protectors.”

“Protectors!!?” Jedrek snapped. In the end, he stopped walking and turned his back to look at the moon goddess from far distance away, his eyes glistening red with anger. His wolf was livid. 

“Why do you think we will help?” Kace asked while narrowing his black obsidian eyes, his wolf took control of him. He was the youngest among the three and the less temperamental among them.

The three of them were cursed by Selene because of their ferocious action to gain supreme power and authority. 

The moon goddess didn’t bless them with a mate as a punishment of their atrocious way and forced them to involve in this deadly war with the demons.

“You will turn us into a slave for those sickly creatures!?” Torak asked incredulously. “Aren’t you afraid that we will snap them into two?”

The guardian angel was so fragile and they as lycanthropes didn’t appreciate the weaknesses.

“No, you will not.” Selene said patiently. “You will not be their slave nor hurt them, you will cherish them in every way possible.”

Jedrek laughed menacingly upon hearing this, they didn’t care about the resurrected of the beast, once they crossed their territory, with or without the guardian angel he would tear their body apart. “I will be the last person they will see, once I find them.” He was referring to both the guardian angel and the demon.

But, the next voice from Selene was laced with mirth when she spoke.

“You will not hurt your mate.”
