This is a story about the rivalry between Drix, the half gorgon, and Skarlet, the half demon. But it’s not all about their rivalry, there are some romantic moments and fun moments.

They were able to avoid pointless confrontation and everyone returned to preparation. The base was surrounded now with the platform that can be used as the survey platform around the walls. They also build some fences so that they don't have the risk of falling down accidentally. The whole group also begins on building the Guardpost tower to help survey the area surrounding the place. The back portion of the base is also building a similar Guardpost tower however, they have no choice but to slowly make it. The back portion of the base is not that troublesome and rarely, the undead do not really wander the back area. Might be due to the slope that made the undead falling when they tried to climb up. Still, the dead are not something they can underestimate. The dead seems getting stronger and plenty for some reason and they have to be sure that they won't be having trouble with it.


The Household Group brought the dinner with them. Before the battle, they needed to have a hearty meal first to last for the night. Pastor Shin lead the prayer for the food. Since not everyone are Catholic they just bow down to pay respects while Steven, Nathalie, Cindy and Risha are catholics and also did the sign of the cross. The prayer of Pastor Shin was very heartwarming, allowing them to feel the peace and gratitude to God for a while.

The hearty and happy meal lasted for a while before everyone returned to their jobs. Kyosei suspected that the dead are still evolving and he suddenly remembered that the spawns are still around the nearby houses. Kyosei remembered that the Mosquitoes did not appear last night making him sigh in relief. However, now, he almost forgot that there are spawns around the area. The mosquitoes are troublesome enemies during Night Rage. If possible, destroying them before they mature is the best and probable way of eradicating the Mosquitoes.

Kyosei ordered everyone to continue the survey and he will do an extermination process to do. Everyone nodded. Guarding the base is the most important thing and while the Night Rage is still not occurring, they have to make sure that there is no danger lurking in the surroundings. Kyosei also explained that he needs to look for some spawns. It will be really troublesome if they needed to defend against the dead and also defend against the Mosquitoes. That will be too tiresome.

After obtaining everyone's agreement, Kyosei brought the AR15 with him. He can't possibly smash there and risk himself getting infected by the hatched spawns. Since it is already almost nighttime, Kyosei begins to pack up a lot of bullets. If he is caught up during the Night Rage, it will be too hard to return back into the base.

Kyosei arrived in front of the SUV. He looked at it and he felt that he want it replaced with a Pickup Truck. It can also be good to attach a crane on its back and the pickup truck has a good amount of storage space. Looting a lot is not a problem and many items can be stored. Moreover, he can contract Big Man Joe to refit the car. Kyosei shook his head before he goes inside the car. Kyosei wanted to play safe. If he saw a horde, he can just ram the car directly into them, which will be an easy way for destroying a horde. He did not mind damaging its bumper. Cars might be good rammers but he can't keep on relying on it. The dead are all easy to kill, just ram their heads into the ground, and bam, you killed an undead without help.

Souichi and Nejima opened the gate and the SUV reeves up. Nanami pull her thumbs up meaning that everything is ready. Kyosei steps on the gas and the SUV pulls out and speds out of the streets.

Day 3: 4:39 P.M
Osaka Streets
Time before the Night Rage: 1 hour and 21 minutes left

Kyosei steps on the gas and not too far from him is the horde that passed by silently from the base. Hearing the revving engine sounds, the undead look at the speeding car and shows their hungry faces, ready to jump towards the car. Kyosei has no intention on stopping the car and with another push on the gas, the car speeds up to the group of the dead. In result, mashed up meat pastes slams into the car. Flesh and blood are all splattered into the windshield and the bumper of the car. Kyosei cared less about it. The dead were bulldozed by the SUV, breaking them all without thinking twice. After making sure that the horde are all smashed on the streets, Kyosei stopped on the nearby streets. Finding the Spawns are not easy. He might stumble on them but he is not quite sure about it. And the time is getting limited.

Kyosei randomly enters a building. Holding the kukri and the Colt 45 on both hands, he walks inside. The interior of the building are dark. It might be difficult for Kyosei to see so Kyosei uses a flashlight to light up the area. Since the flashlight is attachable into the head, Kyosei attached it to be more convenient in his situation.

Kyosei proceeded carefully into the darkness. He is not sure if spawns are in here and hoped that there was a nest so that he could hunt the other places and finish it before the Night Rage begins.

In the area where it seems to be an office has two undead standing there motionlessly. Kyosei sneak on them and uses his kukri to stab into the other one and kicked the other one, causing it to fall down, in which Kyosei took chance to pierce its brain.

Kyosei proceeded to loot the area but did not find anything useful except for the smartphones that they possess. Kyosei moved around the area once more and seeing no enemies, and signs of spawn, Kyosei has no choice but to switch another building. Before he can move to another building, something fast movements caught his eye. It is abnormally fast and he didn't get to see it directly but he is sure that it is not a human. Kyosei gritted his teeth. Another enemy perhaps? He was just looking for the spawn, this is not good. And for some reason, Kyosei can feel the bloodlust on the surroundings. The dead are now evolving, Kyosei can feel it. This enemy is an evolved form if not a mutated one.

Labeled as a delinquent and bad influence, high school student Kyosei Ichinose choose to stay out of the people around him, indulge himself to his headphones, pick fights against other people and stay alone. 

He was later famous for being a dangerous fellow that even his fellow students and his teachers feared him.

One day, everything is normal until the world is now in turmoil after the appearance of a mysterious disease that turns humans into mindless cannibals, infecting humans all around the country in an alarming state.

After receiving a distressed message from his former friend, he reluctantly returned only to find the school overrun by the dead. Armed with his house keys, a revolver and a duffel bag containing a few items to aid the rescue, he returned to the school without knowing why he still need to rescue a former friend.

My worries were just for naught as I saw all of the dead bodies of my pursuers turned to dust. These phenomenon happened when I fought against the impostor one.
"All of them are Homunculus?!" I didn't believe not a single one of them is human because they are perfectly looking like humans to me.
"Of course not. Human Magicians nowadays tend to be much more cautious that is why they use the homunculus as their slaves to do the deed. They are the perfect tool for assassinations, robbery and disrupting order. And if they are being defeated, they just crumble to dust and erases all of the information about him or her. Perfect for an easy getaway, there is not a single body to investigate and leaving no trace to track which is what you call perfect for sneaky people like rogues," Rena said as she goes out of the building entrance.
"Rena-san... the parcel is here. I brought it safely..."
"Good Job Kazuma. I know you can make it even though you almost lost your life from that."
"Ah, it's not a big deal. It also made me realize how weak and vulnerable I am to other enemies so I need to get stronger in the future. By the way, how is Mirai right now?"
"She is still fine but we need to find the right soul of her body while destroying the remains of the others that inhabit her original body. We already tracked the original body right now and we will be summoning her body here somewhere and perform the severing and rejoining of souls somewhere where the body thief can't occupy anything." Rena said.
"But will everyone be fine? I faced the Body thief before and I almost got killed by it if I didn't escape. It might cause a big rampage instead and hurt everyone."
Another guy appeared behind Rena and I never felt his presence. It was like he blended with the air as he just appeared without any sound. Also, this is the first time I have seen this guy before.
"Body Thiefs might be strong but I already defeated countless of them in the past. With me performing severing of Body Thief in the past due to my job as an exorcist. It's not a big deal for me to defeat a measly body thief."
When the others turned around, they suddenly exclaimed.
"Tsukoyomi? You are already done with your secluded training?" Rena asked.
"You usually train for a year or more depending on your training regime. What makes you come out of your seclusion?" Moonlight asked.
"This is a special event. I managed to get a revelation all of a sudden from the souls of the deceased on the upcoming doom event that might destroy the life of all creatures here on Earth if left alone so I came out to seek help with you guys. After I get out of my seclusion, Zan called me that our newbie, Kazuma, needs help, therefore, I rushed here immediately and managed to get a few info from Raigaki who is tied up in the corner."
"Wait, did you untie him from his bindings?" Rena suddenly turned her face dark.
"Of course not. I know the dangers of Raigaki once he is out of his bindings so it is better for him to stay like that. Don't underestimate what I know about Raigaki's power."
Rena's face turned back to normal after hearing that and she sighed in relief. "Well, thank goodness that you know the protocol."
So this was Tsukoyomi. He is indeed similar to those exorcists that I saw mostly in temples. He has a necklace of a cross which means he is somewhat a catholic man, but from his stances, he seemed to practice and follow Buddhism too? I don't really know. His clothes are a robe that is similar to the robes used in cultivation movies and novels. The only thing that differs him on cultivators is his short hair. He kept it on a crew cut which makes it short compared to the long hair of cultivators. Also, his aura seems very pure and most of the malice present seems to be avoiding him like a plague.
Tsukoyomi looked at me and smiled. "This is our first meeting, Kazuma. I am Tsukoyomi and I specialize in soul repairs, exorcisms, and expertise in soul knowledge. If you need help with that matters, you can ask me for help."
"I am Kazuma Fukuyama, I will make sure to remember that."
"Well, let's get in there shall we? Summoning the Body Thief needs to be easily done so let's get it quick this time so that I can inform everyone on the prediction."

We moved into an open space that Moonlight created using her Spatial Magic. I am tempted to learn that magic but I know that this magic element is one of the hardest to master. But if wanted to get the dimensional storage done, I need to learn that magic indeed. Anyways, back to the situation.
Since we are about to summon a Body Thief, we need to be in an open space, no living things around the vicinity and safe from the destruction that can cause casualty since I reported that the Body Thief occupying the body of Mirai is much stronger than it looks.
Tsukoyomi did a prayer first while concentrating on the cross on his neck. After doing it for a few minutes, he stood up and flick his hand that reveals different items which are all similar to the time I summoned Itazura here in this world.
Precise and expertly done, Tsukoyomi created a magic summoning circle that will act as the summoning circle.
"How can we summon that body thief? It was hard especially that their ties are cut so we can't exactly know where that body of hers is wandering around!" I exclaimed.
"Don't worry Kazuma. I got a bit of soul essence that Mirai exudes out. Since it is originally from Mirai's soul, the body thief would immediately know that this is Mirai and will be used as a bait for the guy to come out of the circle. And from my guess, it won't be easy since there are lots of enemies who eat soul essences too."
The soul essence that Tsukoyomi is talking about looks similar to smoke coming out from the fridge placed in a small bottle. It was on the blue and white side so I didn't bother doing much. If soul essences are the key to capture that guy, I hope that soul essence won't be wasted.
Tsukoyomi started forming different finger gestures before he sliced his thumb with his nails and squeezed out the blood before it landed to the ground where the summoning circle was found. As soon as his blood dripped into the ground, the magic circle started to float out of the floor and started to rotate like crazy. The power of the magic circle this time is so strong that electricity arcs started to appear out the magic circle and was like everything is drawn into the magic circle.
"Hold on tight everyone. This will be a bit hard to do!" Tsukoyomi said as he pulls out a scroll and started reading it in fast tongue that whatever he is about to say, it all passed down to the other side of our ears due to the intangible words he is spouting.
But I realized that the magic circle's rotation is not getting any slower. Instead, it feels like the whole place is spinning due to the high amount of magic being concentrated in one rate. It didn't take too long for something to slowly materialize out in the magic circle. Everyone around frowned as they slowly see the silhouette of the woman in the magic circle. So that means we might have summoned Mirai's body this time.
Tsukoyomi continued to chant even that I no longer know if he is still speaking something or he is speaking some gibberish. The silhouette gets darker and darker until I finally saw the summoned one. That same face and same grin on her face makes me want to remove that monster in existence. That same monster who almost killed me and killed Mirai. That monster who can turn anyone into stone and can destroy enemies in an almost one hit.
As soon as the magic circle stopped spinning, Yaya quickly activated her magic and targeted Mirai's body with her eyes and shot it out on her both hands and feet, immobilizing her. The face of Mirai started to twitch and started to show a disgusting grin. It was really different if you remove her face that is looking like Mirai and I will make sure to annihilate him or her.
"Body Thief is here!" Rena said as she defended the place. Tsukoyomi pulls out an exorcism wand out from thin air. He looks into the Body Thief and he started grinning.
"Looks like I will be enjoying this killing process for quite a while..."


After an incident from his past school, he was forced to transfer from Hokkaido to Tokyo. The timing was just right because his parents died from an incident a few weeks ago and he inherited what was left by his parents.

When he was inspecting the things left by his parents, he was greeted by a mobile phone with a chat group he didn't know of. After succumbing to curiosity, he was introduced to the hidden world that hides in plain sight to protect the humans from lurking danger.

And he was recruited to become one, the one they call "MAGICIANS"

MORE OF A REALIZATION OF WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN THIS WORLD!

"Are we dealing with a different breed of zombies today? For some reason, they are more organized and disciplined this time. I thought that the persistent explosions would have caused them to panic!" The Archmage said, watching the believers organize their ranks, preparing for another attack. 
"Hey, now. You don't really think that they are zombies, do you?" The Soul Armature Practitioner replied. Watching the believers advance with renewed vigor, he took a few red balls out of his pocket and thought, 'Which little beastie wants some fresh air today?'
The Soul Armature Practitioner wondered if he ought to choose an oversized tortoise with a Super Mario pipe attached to its shell[1], a shuriken-wielding frog that cosplayed as a ninja, [2]or the godly white horse [3]to complement the religious theme of the war.
Before a choice could be made, he realized that the believers were avoiding the area of the city wall under his protection. In fact, they stayed within the boundary of the Holy Light and attacked the city with ranged weapons like bows and catapults. This made them greatly resembled protesters. Far from looking like a war, they were more like protestors on the street.
"The Second Walker's area is being targeted the most," He said. 
The memory of the previous day's battle was still fresh in the mind of the Voidwalkers; even now, no one knew why the Second Walker had refused to cooperate. If the powerful Voidwalker continued to do nothing, Arfin City's eastern gate would be in hot water! 
"The Warrior Walkers's situation is also dire. For some reason, the Engineer Walker's side and our side have it less troublesome," the Archmage replied. A believer was accidentally pushed out of the Holy Light's boundary, and before anyone could do anything about it, the Archmage pointed at the believer, causing him to instantly explode, spraying the ground with guts and blood. 
"I don't think that would work," the Soul Armature Practitioner said.
He knew what the Archmage intended to achieve with this tactic; the old man wished to pressure the invaders psychologically by slaying them in horrifying manners. If the invaders gave in to fear, their situation would take a turn for the worse. If that happened, the Archmage could send the Soul Armature Practitioner to back up other gates while he handled the enemies alone. 
For some reason, though, the believers knew no fear today, leaving nothing for the Voidwalkers to capitalize on. 
The Voidwalkers realized that it was best for those facing lesser pressure to save their power, to help the more troubled Voidwalkers. The Archmage and Engineer Walker intended to do this, but although they were not being attacked by a lot of invaders, there was a large group of invaders standing far away, waiting for the smallest of slipups from the Archmage's team. One did not need to be a genius to know that this group of believers was waiting for the Engineer Walker and Archmage to split up, and if that happened, they would charge over instantly!
The Voidwalkers knew the meat of the enemies' plan, but they were helpless, as they simply did not have enough people on their side to do anything about it. This showed that even the weak could use numbers to overwhelm the strong; this tactic may seem flashy, but it worked. 
"Sir Engineer Walker," the Archmage said, "Does he have any power to spare?" 
"He sent the Tarantula to help them and used his other toys to help his team. The Blacksmith Walker's bombardiers are doing their best to relieve the pressure, but there are just too few of them to keep up. The reinforcements just aren't enough!" The Soul Armature Practitioner replied.
"Send every one we can spare to the northern gate," the Archmage ordered. "That team has terrains and a sturdy wall to alleviate the pressure they are facing, but only Warrior Walker is there to take the burden. Her team consists of fairies and barbarians — races that aren't known to be resilient. If the enemies keep throwing bodies at that gate, it will surely fall!" 
As for the eastern gate, whose wall was the shortest — although it was being was targeted by a lot of invaders, the Cleric Walker and his superb theurgical skills were there to support that team; hence, the team suffered only a few casualties. Furthermore, the Caveman Walker and Paladin Walker — two very powerful brawlers — could not die and could keep fighting forever. 
This was why the enemies focused their attention on the northern gate, whose team included fairies and humans. Since this team did not have the Cleric Walker in their ranks to heal them without end, they were steadily getting injured. If that continued, the team would end up losing a lot of teammates, and the northern gate would collapse. 
"It looks like we don't have any option but to reveal our trump cards now," the Archmage said, a tinge of regret evident in his voice. "They were supposed to be used on the angels..." 
So far, despite facing ten million enemies with a team many times fewer than that, the Voidwalkers, who were at a disadvantage, had yet to reveal their trump cards. They did not wish to use them so soon, as their enemies had yet to reveal their hands. If the Voidwalkers continued to utilize schemes, the angels would then reveal their true powers and — as no one knew when Baiyi would return — the Voidwalkers would end up losing. 
The soldiers dispatched by the Northern Duke were doing their best to support the barbarians in fending off countless assaults. The difficulty of the current battle could not be compared to that of the previous day's battle. In the previous day's battle, the believers did not use siege weapons, so they were greatly deterred by the great height of the northern wall. Unfortunately, they had come with siege weapons today, to the dismay of those guarding the northern gate. 
"Do not overexert yourselves; take turns fighting! Assist and cover your partner when it's your turn as their support!" The Warrior Walker shouted. Her fists were blazing in bright azure flames as she decimated every foe foolish enough to come close.
The Warrior Walker knew the limitations of the Northern fighting style. Due to their different utilization of combat chi control, barbarians could be easily beset by their poor endurance during a drawn-out battle. Combined that with the barbarians' cultural propensity to recklessly charge into the fray, it was no wonder that the steely beauty had to continually remind her flock about their agreed strategy.
Fortunately, under her supervision and guidance, the barbarians were able to maintain their focus. Recalling their master's lessons during the intensive training camp a few days ago, the warriors applied themselves in moderation and held the defense line. They reigned in their impulse to throw themselves into the fight and took turns to rest and support their partners in combat.
The Warrior Walker turned to the silver-haired fairy and ordered, "Nydore. Do not use that bow."
The Caudillo Butterfly bow's power comes at a dangerous price, and it was for the young fairy's good to not use it frivolously. Unfortunately, this meant that the girl had to work with the more inferior longbow, which inflicted less damage to the believers blessed by the Holy Light. That was despite her using the fairies' ancestral technique, Astra, of shooting a stream of arrows continuously at an inhuman speed.
As a tiny stream of blood ribboned down one of the Gale Snipers' hand, he drew his bow and bemoaned loudly, "Is Mr. Bear really not going to help us?"
"Mr. Bear's power shouldn't be wasted on this," Nydore answered sharply, wiping away her blood from her blistered fingers discreetly. Shooting arrows quickly without rest through a taut bowstring had caused Nydore more injuries than her brethren's.
While everyone's attention was drowned in the chaos of the invasion, nobody noticed Laeticia's quiet appearance near the northern gate. Silently, she took in the devastating sight of piles of corpses, her distressed friends and allies, and their struggle to push back their foes from breaching the city.
She hesitated, as though vacillating between choices.
"Haven't made up your mind?"
"Professor Sonia?" Laeticia let out a soft yelp in disbelief as she turned. The Shadow Walker had snuck behind her while the girl was lost in her thoughts. It was also the first time the girl had ever seen this infamously disgraced papal candidate.
"Regardless of your reluctance, I've made my decision," the Shadow Walker said. "I have no illusion about the weakness of my power. I can't even cast the simplest, useful theurgical spell, but there must be something I can help."
"You can't?" Laeticia was startled. How could the disciplined, levelheaded holy woman be denied of theurgical abilities when people who had fallen to shameless indulgences, such as Professor Hantai and Father Joel, could still use the most God's most powerful spells?
"Unlike those two, I've turned my back from my faith. Or perhaps more accurately, I've pledged my devotion to a different subject. Unfortunately, it appears that my piety is still too impotent," the Shadow Walker explained, holding out her palm to display a frail lick of black flame. It looked similar to Baiyi's trademark Void Flames, but hers was so weak that it could not even light up a stalk of dry hay.
"Look at it," she said, bringing the flame closer to Laeticia's face. "Isn't it disgusting? Does it compel you to retch at its wickedness?"
The fire's warmth quickly reached her, its glow illuminating the confusion on her face. She shook her head. "I.. I'm sorry. I don't know what to say. I respect that you chose this, but I… I…"
"Then I pray that you may come across the choice your heart desires."
The elusive woman joined the bloodbath ahead. Alone, Laeticia extended her hand and stared at her gleaming reflection from her silver-white gauntlet as her other hand instinctively reached her Scripture necklace. "My… choice?" She breathed.
She raised the holy flag and whispered her prayer softly. It would be the last time she ever prayed.
"Alone I tread the lightless path, to the defiled land where evil thrived under His absence. I pray for the darkness to dispel, and the earth to be saved by an act of sacrifice. God, I pray to You; use me as your instrument of light, so that I may punish evil and save the innocent in your stead — "
She stopped right before the name of the spell. When she spoke again, her voice was trembling with tearful determination. "God, forgive me."
A pair of enormous wings woven from the softest light illuminated the sky above Arfin. Far from being imposing or flashy, the mirage emanated a warm, white glow beatifically cradling every being in the city as an encompassing sense of equanimity bloomed in their hearts.
The mirage was not the slightest bit as dominating as the Angels' Holy Light. It gently roused the believers from their mindless trance to seize and conquer. In reverence, they knelt in obeisance while their golden armors melted away in its immaculate glow.
The longer one studied it, the more the wings resembled a pair of loving hands caressing the mortals' tormented, tired souls. Sometimes, they looked like the hands of a holy woman, whose sincere prayer to God for forgiveness had been answered.
"That is the sign of our Highest Lord's mercy. His purest believer had made her last prayer!" Archangel Paimon said, stunned at the miracle in Arfin. "How incredible that we found His beloved in a land enveloped by darkness, among heretics such as the two blasphemous apostates, who continue to deconsecrate His powers after turning their back…"
"Incredible as it may, Paimon, we're witnessing a holy woman's last prayer," Archangel Baal said with a tinge of regret. It was as though he was sad about the fate that awaited her. There could only be two possible reasons why a pious believer made their last prayer. Their time on earth had come to an end, or their devotion to God had ceased!
"Kimaris! Find His beloved mortal whom our Highest Lord had mercifully forgiven," Paimon said to another angel. "Carry out His wish by granting her Salvation."
Every believer dreamed of entering the kingdom in heaven after they died. So, it was only fitting that God's most merciful act was to guarantee their entry.

Baiyi, finally out of the Void, was the only one who could save all of the other 32 souls from their prison and his summoner might just be The Key to their freedom.
However, Baiyi had to use the techniques and abilities the other souls had taught him throughout the years, and together with his own extensive knowledge of anime and game tropes from his shady and dangerous past as an otaku, to face the biggest challenge of them all: training the clumsy young girl he was forced to partner up with… into a competent sorcerer!

Jean spent lots of time alone in the Renningberry Catholic Church. During his patience and waiting, no one came during Sundays, not even his Choir. They all flocked five miles away to Murphy Steinly, the new Pastor, who shepherded them against the perceived homosexual threat. Murphy especially used this opportunity for castigating Jean's protection of homosexuals.

At this time, Murphy gave a message during his usual preachings.

"Better fear the gays here! Blood's impure so keep clear! Hang a queer if it's near! Hold these sayings close to your heart!" he exclaimed with fervor.

The members of his congregation were riled up, soaking up his words like the Gospel Truth.

As usual, the session summarily ended at 6:00 P.M. and the people left, thoroughly incited. Special members of the congregation stayed and plotted with Murphy in the secret organization called "The Salvation Army." It served as an undercover name whilst still in Church.

Every week, The Salvation Army targeted suspected homosexuals and burned their homes under the cloak of darkness and black blankets.

It was during this October night that they arranged to burn the Renningberry Catholic Church. They already spent months of preparation to completely isolate the incident. Using favors, the local mafia, and bribery, they bought an hour after 7:00 before emergency responders were forced to arrive.

Under the cover of a moonless sky, The Salvation Army became emboldened by their continual success. Their actions became a national issue debated heavily among the American public. As of now, the people gave their tentative support or, as a majority, fearfully stayed uninvolved.

Murphy moved in the front, with his black blanket hanging around his whole body like loose robes. Two slits showed his maddened eyes. His left hand grabbed at the five bottles strapped to his belt underneath. His right hand jiggled with a lighter.

Finally, the moment they all waited for arised! The last place of homosexual protection! Gone from their city!

"C'mon Mitch! Hold the other end higher!" said a short figure holding one side of a large metal drum.

"I am! You're the one moving too fast, Gary!" said the taller figure on the right.

"It's Herald who's shoving it, you idiots!" said the woman in front of them.

"Shut up, Beth! Don't say my name!" said the man holding the drum from behind.

"Quiet! All of you!" Murphy commanded. "Make sure to spread that gasoline around the entire building. I don't want Jean being able to escape without being burned."

The four figures secured a hose and began trailing the liquid contents. Murphy kept watch with Albert, Jean's godfather. Murphy didn't understand why he wanted to help, despite teaching Jean and raising Jean for most of his life.

Murphy mused it must have been his eloquence and righteous wisdom that made Albert come under his wing. He sneered at the Church. Even Jean's godfather helped plot his demise.

Roughly thirty minutes later, the four fools came bounding over with an empty drum.

"We're done!" said Beth.

"Good. Bring it back to the truck. Then, we'll light up the sacrilegious heathen."

Murphy snickered and pulled out his molotov cocktails. They each had five to leisurely have fun burning it all down. It didn't hurt to have a backup plan either, as there were two trucks with drums of oil if needed.

When they all assembled, the fire started. It blazed like a furnace, charring the aged stone structure and alighting the wooden embellishments. The sign smouldered from the heat. Bottles crashed left and right, breaking windows and shattering small statues set up.

They stood, watching the conflagration raise higher and higher. Soon, it was too hot to stay around, so they turned to leave.

But at the trucks, a man stepped out, bundled in a heavy jacket, hood, sunglasses, thick gloves, and baggy pants.

"Who are you? You're not supposed to be here," said Murphy.

"I know," said the muffled and heavily dressed figure. "And you're not supposed to be on this planet."

"Nathan?—" asked Beth.

Bang!

A Beretta 21A smoked in his hand, fresh from his jacket's pocket. A hole blossomed in Beth's head, seeping out blood from under the blanket.

"What the Hell!? Nathan, why!" yelled Albert.

"I'm releasing you from your diseased minds."

"Don't stand there! Get him!" Murphy shouted.

The remaining five charged over but shots rang out, one by one.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Each of them were shot once in the chest, but Murphy was shot thrice.

Nathan pulled out the used magazine and reloaded. 

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

They finally stopped moving. Nathan reloaded and aimed again.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

If they survived this, it would be a miracle. Nathan sighed as he stared at their bleeding corpses. What would his father, Jake, think? Even when Nathan showed up, he thought it couldn't be true. But, it was too late. Jean died in an inferno by maniacs who were let loose because no one wanted to enforce justice.

Nathan locked the safety and looked at the collapsing roof of the Renningberry Catholic Church. He held the pistol to his head but then lowered it. He raised it and lowered it again. Nathan couldn't do it. Jean's face flashed before his eyes, smiling brightly before he went to hold his service earlier this morning...

He walked away in the dark night. What happened next to his future depended on what the town wanted to say what happened. It was all Nathan did to redeem his friend's brother and show that he would not stand for what happened to his neighbors. His long-time investigation didn't go to waste, but if only he was faster, only if he was smarter, only if he knew what was happening...

Night passed in a flurry. The authorities traced the many arson cases to Murphy's Church. Another nationwide outrage arose because of how lawlessly they acted and how some gold-hearted vigilante killed the ones responsible in a brutal fashion. It was unspoken yet a common understanding fell on the police not to properly investigate the killer.

President H. Wuss demanded the FIBS to investigate, like the rest of the nation. Something insidious was happening in the city.

As everything descended to chaos, from riots in the streets, to protests en route to the Capital, to hysteria, Jean tapped on his suitcase.

He long since prepared to leave and concluded his connections to the mafia under the pseudonym of his brother again. If his brother needed it, he had favors to use.

Jean broke off his connections to the Catholic Church to preach his own words of tolerance and love. Also, it was better to be free from the hierarchy. Considering the probabilities, it was better to freelance his work.

Capitalizing on America's panic needed someone able to move around everywhere, after all. Jean needed to use his skills to their limit for the most deaths to sweep the nation.

Jean smiled.

How far and how close can he come to reality?

After I graduated from secondary school I started working in a boutique as I hated being idle for long. My mind was a dangerous demon when left idle so I tried to keep it busy lest it led me to sin.

Even though I was lazy and loved my sleep I needed money of my own so I had to sacrifice my sleep. A very painful sacrifice.

We were a catholic family and I still believed in my faith as a Christian. I tried not to miss any program during the holy week no matter the situation. I still believed in God. He was the only thing that I believed in even though I could not see him. The only invisible thing I felt was visible. I believed he was visible because I could feel him. He was more real that any other thing.

On good Wednesday, rain fell heavily in Warri and I had to run to Church under the rain. Dirty rain water from the road and cars splashed on me as I ran to church, but I didn't stop or look back. I wanted to fulfil my obligation as a catholic.

I wanted to feel connected to something.  

When I got to the church I sat at the back hoping to have some peace while my clothes dried off.

Just when I thought I had succeeded in avoiding everybody I saw Peter and I smiled at him. He waved and smiled back.



 Peter was an old friend all the way back in my primary school. Funny enough he still looked the same as he did then when we were kids. Seeing him now I started to remember how I met him and how we played when we were little.

He left his pew to come to mine as there was still space on mine.

He was average in height and thin. I was fairer than he was a little even though he was quite fair. My friends used to laugh at me in secondary school. They would say I escaped being an albino, but I took it in good faith, I was prettier than they all were. 


I knew this not because everyone told me but well because I had eyes and a mirror.

Peter looked thinner than he was the last time I saw him and his face was rougher. Maybe he was getting thinner because of boarding school stress, I guessed_ or it was something that was hereditary because his little sister Yole was like that too. I actually warmed up to him when he came over which was very unlike me to do when I see an old friend,


"Long time, how's school? I asked, smiling. He was shy and shy boys were my weakness. I loved the weakness of others. They made me ignore mine. It made me feel stronger to see that others were weaker than I was.

"School is fine, why are you wet he asked?" Hmmm wet, I wanted to ask what he meant by that but only a fool won't know. He was talking of my dress_Idiot! I thought, laughing to myself.

No dirty thoughts Mira. Mira....no dirty thoughts.

Even if I didn't engage in romance in high school, my classmates and friends never stopped saying sexual things to me.


 They opened my eyes to things that they explored and wanted me to explore too, but I was too scared to. That was then, now, I started to warm up to the idea, to try one or two of those things they talked about and made to look so fascinating.

"I work far from here and I had to come under the ran."

"Oh." He looked at me for like a minute until he noticed that I was getting tensed up under his gaze, then he faced the altar.

Just then my prayer book fell from my legs where I had kept it. I bent down and purposely brushed my boobs on his hands which rested on his legs.

"Sorry." I whispered to myself, while sitting up straight. I mentally cursed myself for doing it. It was on impulse but it felt good to have a mans hand touch me there. He didn't look like he noticed or he was just really good at hiding his emotions.

A girl I knew from church came to stand behind the pew where I was sitting and I guessed she wanted to talk to me about something I didn't care about.


 I wont call her a friend even though we said hi to each other whenever our paths crossed in church. I was very picky when it came to friendship and she wasn't someone I would like to call a friend.

She said 'Hi' to Peter and he ignored her. Normally that would make me mad but strangely it amused me.

She bent down so she was at ears length with me, "Can we talk outside?" She whispered.

'OK" I replied. I was curious to know what she wanted to say. They say Curiosity kills the cat, I hope it doesn't kill me though. "Excuse me Peter, I'm coming now."

Peter didn't reply, he looked as if he was pissed with something but I didn't know what it was. I would ask him though, if I can, just not now. For now I needed to hear what Chisom had to say that was so important that she couldn't wait until mass was over.

"You kill all the people that touch me for touching me only? Or is it just a habit of yours_ Killing people?" I dared to ask.

 I was shaking so bad and my hands were sweaty. I was visibly perspirating even though the Ac was on. Still, I just needed to get all these questions of my chest. He was acting so strange and mad. I knew that I would end up dead either ways. Whether I spoke up against him or not I was still going to end up dead. So why be silent?

He started walking towards me, and with each step he took further I took one back in fear and desperation to create space between us, until I was backed up against the wall. He stood so close to me now I was practically breathing his air. 

"Like I told you in the very beginning when we first met, You're mine! And when something is mine no one touches it. So when another man wants to touch you beg him to stop not for your sake but for his. No matter how many they are or how minute the touch is they will end up below the ground the moment they do. You are mine."

Lex was of a higher grade than Saleen. The moment Saleen mentioned it, she immediately sensed a powerful presence rushing towards their room from the sky.
The two of them were in such a hurry to put on their clothes that Lex put on the crown that Saleen had given to her. Saleen put on his devil suit along with the mask.
Lex realized now that Saleen was able to move without any difficulty in the darkness because he possessed the ability of elemental eyes. It was just that at that moment, she no longer felt embarrassed to face Saleen. Besides, danger was near, so she had to move more quickly and decisively than Saleen.
The two of them had barely just put on their clothes when the ground trembled and there was a sound on the rooftop that was like thunder. Soon after, both sides of the hall split open and cold air rushed in. A beam of light from a sword lit up the darkness and came straight at Saleen.
All of a sudden, Saleen split himself into six images instantaneously, only for one of them to be hacked into pieces by the sword. It repaired itself immediately. Saleen and the other five images surrounded Lex. Each image possessed one-sixth of Saleen's power.
This power was not important. What was important was that the heavenly angel, who was floating in the middle of the roof of the hall that he had just split open, could not tell the difference between the real Saleen and his images. Each image possessed life aura that was no different from Saleen's.
Saleen would never allow himself to become just a sitting duck. He cast frost and snow magic patterns to increase the damage of his spell by more than three times temporarily. He then cast the Current Cutter spell next. He did all that in different images. The angel's sword might have split open the darkness dimension, but the latter mended itself very quickly.
It was a grade-8 environmental spell that was neither a defense nor attack spell. This type of spell was the most stable and could hardly be destroyed by external forces. Only a grade-9 Dispersing spell would be able to stop it.
The angel knew nothing about Dispersing spells. He realized that he was unable to distinguish his target from the images. By then, the lower half of his body had already completely turned into light and he had already lost more than half of his lifespan. He could very well die there if he was dealt with any more damage.
The heavenly angel did not possess a soul, but he did have desires. He raised his sword in rage and began to chant a long prayer. The surrounding magic towers were too far away. Any attack from those towers would not pose a threat to his body. There was only one human being nearby who was also a warrior. The heaven angel decided that he would use his divine spells to demolish this palace completely.
Saleen's bedroom was constructed with solid materials so even when the heaven angel split open the palace's roof, it did not manage to collapse the entire palace.
"God said that those who do not place their faith in religion must possess souls that are cursed. The lands that they live on have already dried up and they can no longer accept faith. My light will only cause all of them to burst…"
It was the first time the angel's prayer could be heard so clearly and at such a stable and forceful rhythm.
The Vacuum Imprisonment spell suddenly appeared and the elements around the heavenly angel's body was sucked out in an instant. This was an indication of a grade-7 spell. If this was a middle-level spell, only air would be sucked out while the elements would still remain.
This was even more powerful than the Speech Prohibition spell. The angel's mouth was moving. but he was unable to continue chanting the prayer. Nevertheless, a technique like that would still be unable to stop the heaven angel's prayer because he could use his thoughts in place of his speech. As long as one took in the power of life, he would receive God's blessing.
Although the lower half of the angel's body had become transparent, his attacking power was unaffected. He continued to chant the prayer in silence and the Sword of Light became so big that it was longer than ten yards.
Lex sighed. She and Saleen would not be in danger of dying because after she had advanced, her God's Ring would enable her to utilize its defense for more than three times. Even eight to ten grade-9 heavenly angels would not be able to break through the defense dimension created by the God's Ring, much less just one.
God's Punishment was much more violent than the angel's attack as those were powers borrowed directly from the Gods. As the enemies that they encountered would only get stronger, it was best to save up on the God's Ring defense as much as possible though. It would be a waste to use it on this fellow that did not even have a brain of its own.
As a member of the royal family, Lex had extensive knowledge of the Holy See. When this angel appeared, she knew immediately who she was dealing with.
The technique that the angel had used was purely a violent attack – sword of burst.
Every object within the attacking range would be reduced into the smallest elemental state. Since the heavenly angel could not determine which was the real Saleen, he decided that he might as well treat the entire area as his target. Once the Sword of Burst had been struck, nothing within an area of hundreds of yards would survive.
A figure flew up from behind the palace. This figure was holding on to a blood-red war banner that more than four yards long.
"Gusion, come back. Physical attacks are ineffective against him." Lex finally spoke. If Gusion attacked, the only outcome was that the heavenly angel would be able to render him useless and handicapped with one slap. Unless Gusion was a golden grand swordmaster, he would have no chance of damaging the angel at all.
After hearing what Lex said, Gusion would not court death no matter how loyal he was. He abruptly rolled up the banner and landed in another direction. In the meantime, the heavenly angel continued to focus on chanting his prayer. He could care less about an insignificant lifeform like Gusion. To him, Gusion was not even as dangerous as a grade-7 sorcerer.
Just outside of the palace, the dragon-slaughtering corp had been ordered to back down. If the Sword of Burst struck, the warriors nearby would all die. Fortunately, Lex and Saleen were still in the darkness dimension. If they chose to leave, the angel would be able to kill everyone one by one, based on his speed.
Lex pulled Saleen to her as both of them waited for the attack to land. The power of the God's Ring has increased. Saleen was more worried about the safety of Eleanor and Cuisi than his own. If the heavenly angel chose to give up on attacking him and go on a killing spree in the city instead, the defense of Daliang City would collapse. By the time the Cloudflows launched their attack, everything would be over.
Everything would depend on how many times Sword of Burst could attack. God's Ring would be able to repel it at least three times. The grade-7 spells of Saleen and Lex would have no effects on the heavenly angel. Lex decided to prepare for a powerful spell and leave the defense to the God's Ring.
As a king, Saleen had to fulfil his duty. He would not retreat, or escape even though he could. What would happen to Daliang City? Would Lex escape with him too? They must find a way to kill the angel.
At that thought, Saleen took out his clan badge from the devil ring.
Lex was still chanting. She could cast grade-8 spells twice without causing any harm to her body. Her chant was long and she could not afford to stop halfway, so even though she noticed Saleen taking out his badge, she could do nothing except panic.
What was Saleen trying to do?
Saleen's plan was a simple one, but required a bit of risk. The heavenly angel looked like a creature of energy, so it could definitely be absorbed by the clan badge. If he could do that, his badge would be able to shoot out lightning once again.
To be able to survive to this day, Saleen had almost always used his clan badge to help him through the most dangerous moments. This badge was almost indestructible. The power it harnessed was incredible. Even a grade-9 golden grand swordmaster would instantly turn into dust if he was struck by the badge's lightning.
Saleen had become reliant on this mysterious badge. If he was to lose this badge, he would have lost his most powerful skill. Besides, the badge could also train up his mental strength. Even to that moment, Saleen's mental strength had never stopped increasing.
Repetitions were required if one was to depend on meditation to increase mental strength. On the other hand, using the badge to train up mental strength would not be as comfortable as using meditation. Based on the effectiveness of both methods, Saleen would rather suffer.
It was not a big deal to suffer and endure. Saleen could sense that his mental strength was almost at the same level as a grade-9 sorcerer.
Lex's body was trembling slightly. Saleen spoke softly, "Don't worry. I will not go beyond the safety boundaries of the God's Ring. If an opportunity arises, I will kill him."
Outside of the palace, Gusion listened to what he was told and did not fight the heavenly angel. He placed his banner upright and a bunch of debris, including Cuisi and Eleanor, flew towards him.
There was blood all over Eleanor's body, but she was still conscious. On the other hand, Cuisi had already fainted. Both his horns had been broken in half and his arms were now soft and fleshy as all the bones had been crushed.
His demon horns were extremely hard and could harness magic. In order to save Eleanor, Cuisi had sacrificed his horns and he was now back to the level of a demon. Although Eleanor was conscious, her injuries were more severe than Cuisi. Her blood was circulating two times slower than normal and her bones were burning like fire. Almost all her tendons had been cut. Such injuries were already considered severe for a demon, much less an elf.
Gusion fled with the two of them, without bothering to pick up the pieces of stones in the courtyard. The stone statue army had been deserted just like that.
The Sword of Light was now longer than one-hundred yards in the angel's hands. Just when he was about to swing the sword, a golden figure flew and crashed into him from the side.
Su's armor and his sword were entirely golden in color. The sword aura had been boosted by the armor to be of the same level as that of a golden grand swordmaster.
The attacking abilities of the sword aura of golden grand swordmasters were more targeted than spells and more complicated. This attack came so fast that a huge hole appeared in the heavenly angel's chest before he could react.
Su's attack had injured the heavenly angel, but also destroyed the Vacuum Imprisonment spell at the same time. The heaven angel completed his prayer in an instant.
"God says, the world is becoming ruined!" The one-hundred yard long Sword of Light swung down. It was as if the tip of a shiny mountain was crashing onto the palace.
At this critical moment, the God's Ring unleashed a colorful light protection, which was similar to a water shield, enclosing her and Saleen within.
There was a strange resonating sound in the surrounding palace before being grounded into dust under the Sword of Light. Su had fled immediately after one hit, but even though his speed was already incredibly fast, he did not manage to leave the area of attack.
Suddenly, Su felt his back becoming cold, as if thousands of arrows had pierced through him. The armor that Joey had refined for him was still destroyed despite the protection from the golden sword aura. Beams of light that were as thin as needles pierced through his body and blood splattered everywhere.


It is said that the true meaning of a mage is to fully understand the truth of the world. A mage named Saleen Metatrin goes on many missions as a normal mage to try and change his fate. This in turn led to many problems and adventures.  

Fu Zhenzhen had complicated feelings mixed with surprise, touch, shame, and irritation, feeling she had become a burden of Zhang Yuanshan when she heard the truth which Zhang Yuanshan didn't tell her. Fu Zhenzhen felt neither happy nor bitter, "Yuanshan, you have so many Karma points, and you must improve yourself too."
"I only need Pill of Heavenly Vision and Earthly Hearing and require no other resources. Since the redundant Karma points are useless to me, I want to give you them to exchange for Man-saving Sutra, with which our team will both survive more easily and you will also improve yourself in every aspect." Zhang Yuanshan added the last half words on purpose.
Man-saving Sutra, the core and official inheritance of Yinghua Monastery, contains the chapter of Lightness Skill and is different from other normal major martial arts.
Fu Zhenzhen had a little change on her face, remembering that once she was arranged to return to the station on account of her poor Lightness Skill. She chuckled with a feeling of happiness and longing, "OK. If you lack in Karma points someday, I will give you mine."
"Please do not show your love and make me, this lonely monk, embarrassed." Meng Qi, with his face buried in his hands, made a moan, "Senior Brother Zhang, you should exchange more quickly in case there is not enough time."
"OK." Zhang Yuanshan got cheerful as Fu Zhenzhen accepted his help. After transferring his Karma points to Fu Zhenzhen, Zhang Yuanshan exchanged for one Pill of Heavenly Vision and Earthly Hearing and one God Subduing Talisman, having 20 Karma points left in the end.
"God Subduing Talisman?" Meng Qi was full of curiosity, watching the black talisman with strange patterns.
It gave out a feeling of peace and quiet.
Zhang Yuanshan joked, "The death of Su Yuanying warned me that we were weak in protecting our Vital Spirit in the current state. So I prepare to exchange for one piece of God Subduing Talisman as a precaution, with many kinds of strange martial arts in the whole World of Samsara."
Although Zhang Yuanshan's Transformation Strategy had accomplished a primary level, the protection of his Vital Spirit was also a little weak because Transformation Strategy couldn't really open the Hidden Latch indeed. So one piece of God Subduing Talisman was the best assistance, which only costs 150 Karma points.
The top martial arts like Zhenwu's Seven Strokes Scripture and Swordplay Sutra of Supremacy all had Dharma Access and methods to deal with the enemies such as monster, evil spirit, and Nether Spirit in the enlightenment period. One method was a sword art in the enlightenment period, moving the whole body's Yang Qi to kill Nether Spirits and ghosts. The other was a Dharma Access, carrying the spirits in the inner world to make them in harmony to defend the filthy. However, these methods, only giving the Disciples one way to defend against enemies limited in the enlightenment period, were not better than Golden Bell Shield, which was good for defending oneself and could protect any enemies except Vital Spirit.
Meng Qi nodded in agreement. "If I'm not faced with An Guoxie, who is a strong enemy, I will find the methods to protect Vital Spirit. But there is an alternative method. As long as Transformation Strategy became consummate, it would enlarge the protection of the Vital Spirit."
"Jiang Zhiwei, what about you?" Meng Qi asked Jiang Zhiwei concerned after Fu Zhenzhen exchanged for the first chapter of Man-saving Sutra.

Everybody began to give advice and suggestions. Meng Qi also recommended some sword arts, which he both knew and the price was appropriate. After careful consideration, Jiang Zhiwei selected Thirteen Sword Killing Strategies recommended by Meng Qi without the fourteenth sword art and the fifteenth sword art, which is suitable for her sword art style and only costs 300 Karma points.
"I have 120 Karma points left," Jiang Zhiwei suddenly whispered with a rosy face. "I prepare to exchange them for a pair of boots."
"Oh, boots?" Meng Qi blurted out.
Jiang Zhiwei explained with her eyes watching her nose and her nose watching her head, "My boots were broken in Magic Mountain when I fought in that extreme environment. I considered that I should strengthen my clothes in case of various kinds of strange environments later."

The construction of the holy power font was smoother than Lin Sheng had expected. With Adolf's generous support, all the materials on the purchase list had been quickly delivered. In less than two days, a carving factory, specialized in producing unique articles, had been set up.
The conversion system of the holy power font involved the precision carving of different symbols, which was not something Lin Sheng could simply chip using nail, hammer, and ax. A large number of high-density stones had been selected for building the watertight outer layer of the holy power font. Lin Sheng had come to the factory to supervise the work and conduct tests to ensure every step was done according to standard.
The builders of the metal disc were not the average holy power cultivators but grandmasters from Blackfeather City. Their design was nothing, unlike the rudimentary summoning circle. Lin Sheng divided the holy power font construction into two parts; one was the core component, and the other was the less critical flange. While he only supervised the work on the flange, he was carving the core parts all by himself. These four globes were the conduits by which Lin Sheng transmitted the holy power he produced. "It is still an unfinished sanctum. But soon, it will come to its full glory." Without waiting for the other three, Lin Sheng strode to the back of the prayer altar. One meter away behind the prayer altar was a square pit, on the edge of which was a white oval object that looked like an egg. Immediately, wisps of holy power emanated from his feet began to seep into the white oval orb that he had just buried underground. Like the dyeing process, the holy power coated the patterns on the white oval object in white. Fifteen minutes had passed, and the white oval object had almost become entirely white. A further two minutes later, its surface had wholly turned snowy white.
Lin Sheng opened his eyes, extended his hand, and began to draw different strange symbols in the air.
