In a dark forest, is a child running through the brush of leaves and low hanging branches. As they run through puddles of water and mud, they keep looking back. They're being chased by something big and fast.
The child stumbles onto a old wooden cabin in the middle of the forest. The abandoned cabin seems like a perfect hiding spot from whatever is chasing after them. 
Quickly the child heads into the cabin after giving the door a good push to open. Afterwards the child closes the door and looks around the room for something to place against the door as a barrier. They notice an old dinning room table by the corner of the room, and decide to use that.
With a couple drags and afterwards two good pushes, the child places the table right against the door.  They soon run off into the kitchen and grab an old rusty knife hanging above the counter.
With the blade in their hands, they guard their eyes at the barricaded door, armed and ready to face the monster lurking outside. 

"What the hell did you do to Frank", an officer screams at the stranger.  The stranger remains silent while his hands are raised in the air. "Can someone please check on Frank for Christ's sake", the officer announces in a panicked voice.
"Check for what! He's clearly not breathing. He's just a corpse or whatever you want to call that thing laying on the ground", another officer yells out as a response.
You can feel the uneasiness in the room as everyone around keeps looking at each other for some sort of answer. Nobody seems to have the nerve or better yet courage to at least deal with the corpse on the floor, because of the fear stirring in their hearts.
Then again, it was really the fear of catching whatever Frank had and meeting their maker too.
Mike soon takes charge of the situation and tells everyone, "lower your guns". 
"What! Are you insane", Tim exclaims to Mike as he tightens his grip on his gun. "Clearly this situation isn't one any person here has ever dealt with, so maybe this whole Mexican standoff isn't making the whole thing any better. Plus do you really want to risk being the next victim of a man with a literal death touch on him", Mike says to Tim. 
Afterwards Mike places his hand on Tim's gun pointed at the stranger.  He lowers the weapon down, looking at Mike and telling him, "easy now". Everyone one else starts to put their guns down and backs off real slow.
"Okay now, let's all take a deep breath and figure this whole mess out one step at a time", Mike tells everyone. 
The stranger clears his throat, and announces to everyone, "yes let's figure this shit out".
He starts to tidy himself up by pulling his shirt from it's bottom so that it sits well on his body.
"I'm not going to waste anyone's time, so let me cut straight to the chase.
You may call me by whatever title you'd feel fits me. Death, Stranger, Devil, Black Abyss, Collector or Harvester.  But really all you should know is, I'm here to search through all the apples in this town's basket and pick out the bad ones from the bunch", the stranger says to crowd of officers.
"Wait. Bad apples, what do you mean", one the officers asks the stranger. The stranger sighs heavily and exclaims, "in your little town here lives the bad hiding amongst the good. The bad hasn't really brought up any good for your little town obviously. So it's my job to take care of the bad".
The stranger looks at the corpse lying on the ground. "Your friend here had a little more to his character, and a very disturbing past.
Your boy here had a record of sexual cannibalism in the previous town he previously lived in
Soon after Frank here slept with a girl he just met, he'd soon after indulge on her very flesh as an after snack. And of course to keep a record of all his meals, he'd get a tattoo referring to his latest meal or victim", the stranger says all of this.
Everyone in the room stands there shocked and completely disgusted. 
"Of course none of you knew about your locals little eating habits, hence your faces", the stranger says. 
"And how do you happen to know such information. How do we know you're not making this shit up, or better yet were likely involved in this sickening act", Tim asks the stranger.
"Let's just say I have a wide knowledge for these sort of things.  Now for the meat of the matter, no pun intended. 
My arrival here has clearly upset the natural order of things around here.  But it's only going to get a whole lot worse, because I'm yet to deal with the other eleven of the twelve bad apples in this town.
They will soon meet judgment for their hidden original sins", the stranger exclaims.
"Sins", Mike exclaims as a question. "Yes Officer James. Your sins have led you to your demise", the stranger replies. "So who are these people", Mike asks the stranger.
The stranger laughs and says to him, "now where's the fun in that. You'll know soon enough after they meet their fates".
"It could be anyone in this room. Possibly everyone in this entire town. But I'm only here for the twelve",  the stranger announces to the room.
"This is bullshit", Tim yells as he pulls out his gun and points it back to the stranger. Before Mike can do anything about it, Tim pulls the trigger.
The sound of the gun echoes in the room, and everyone ducks down.  When the smoke clears, the stranger is still standing without any evidence of a gun shot wound.
He looks Tim straight in the eye and exclaims, "that's definitely going to cost you later on".
In a blink of an eye, the stranger disappears with the wind, leaving everyone there lost and completely perplexed.
Later that night the entire town holds a meeting in the Town hall.
"He was as white as a canvas!? I find that hard to believe"; one of the locals exclaims. "I seen it with my own two eyes. We all seen it", Tim responds.
Another local gets up and says, "you know what this means. We have a devil in our town and we need to cast him out". 
"We don't even know where he is, so how can we cast him out"; Tim exclaims.  Mike rubs his head and breathes out heavily.
His daughter walks up to him, and tugs his hand. "Is the bad guy coming to punish us for our sins. Is he here to take you away from us",  she asks Mike. 
"No my sweetie. Daddy is here to stay", he tells her.  Mike looks at the Pastor and asks him, "you wouldn't happen to have any clue about what exactly this is all about".
"Uhm. This is really beyond my knowledge", the Pastor exclaims. "Well then we're screwed", another local exclaims. "But how can one person know our hidden sins. And do we really have such things in this quiet town", a lady asks the room.
"Frank apparently had a hidden sin. A really disgusting one I might add.  Point being, people are beyond what meets the eye in this town.  We all knew Frank was one for starting up fights but not for cannibalism"; Tim exclaims.
The room falls to whispers, as everyone starts to question the whole situation.
"We could run away for safety. I mean he can't pick us out if we're not here", the town butcher suggests. "But wouldn't that just mean we have something to hide if we're running away", Tim exclaims.
"Tim is right. Running away won't solve anything. This stranger definitely isn't human, so who's to say he wouldn't find us wherever we run off to. 
The best play is to stick together, and protect each other. And the only way that's going to happen is by us being honest with each other and telling everyone of any hidden sins we might have lurking in the dark", Mike tells the entire room.
The room falls silent.
One of the old locals says, "why must we risk our own lives for the guilty. If death is to follow for their sins, let it follow".
Everyone in the room seems to agree with the lady by their loud chattering.
"Everyone is guilty of something. If this man is out here picking out people by their sins, we're all guilty of something. But we should always remember that there's no rating or scale of what makes a sin bigger or worse than another", Mike says to everyone.
"A sin is a sin right Pastor", Mike says while looking at the Pastor.  The Pastor nods yes in response.
"And how exactly are you going to protect us from this stranger. It seems damn well impossible", the butcher exclaims.  You leave that to me and the Sherrif's department to handle that okay",  Mike tells the man.
"You seem to be the most worried one here Ernest. You got something to hide, like charging extra on people's beef", Tim asks the butcher. "You're just speculating things that aren't there. I'm just looking out for my family as a father should"; Ernest says.
"Is that so", a voice from the back exclaims. 
Everyone's attention turns to the voice, and the stranger walks out of the shadows to greet them all.
"And who are you", Ernest asks the stranger in an annoyed voice.  The policemen in the room soon recognise the man, and quickly go to grab their guns.
The stranger chuckles and looks at the butcher saying, "I'm just the young girl whose heart you took a long time ago. Time to return the favour old man".
As soon as he says that, the stranger pulls a heart from behind him. The heart beats in his hand with fresh blood still dripping from it.  Everyone in the room falls silent in shock, but Ernest's eyes grow wide as he grabs his chest where his heart is supposed to be.
That's his heart in the stranger's hand.
Ernest falls to ground, failing to breathe.  His wife quickly rushes over to his side, while Ernest fights for his life.  His two sons stand back, watching their father die in front of their eyes. Everyone else in the room just stands and watches this whole thing happen.
After a few huffs and puffs,  Ernest gives his last breath and slowly rests his head on the ground, and shuts his eyes.
The stranger with the heart still is his hand, drops it to the ground and smiles afterwards.

A quiet peaceful town is soon thrown into disarray at the arrival of a mysterious figure, bringing a promise of 12 people dying at the cost of their sins.

Two Myth Realm martial artists from the mighty northern clan had died in Sky Demon Secret Cave. To Happy, this was a good thing, but it also put him on high alert. 
He obtained a lot of things from Jinjiu and Yinshi. Among them, his greatest reward was that his Universe's Lightning Destruction Style had increased to the eighth realm!
He had moved from Thunder to Lightning Flash. 
The speed of each slash could already compare to One Emperor's first slash, and it was the most terrifying aspect of it all. 
If there was anyone who wanted to evaluate who had the fastest speed with a sword in the game, Happy did not believe that there would be anyone s faster than him!
Universe's Lightning Destruction Style was the fastest sword technique among all Moksha Realm sword techniques that were available to him, and it had not even reached its peak yet. Happy had three more realms to go. 
Aside from fighting experience, Happy had also managed to increase his Universe's Lightning Destruction Style realm because of the two bottles containing the essence and blood of peerless martial artists given to him by two Myth Realm martial artists. 
Wave Breaker Saber and Scorching Sun Blade. 
The two high-grade divine weapons had the effect of damaging opponents' weapons. 
If it were not because Happy's Seventh Sword had already reached the fourth echelon, it would not have been able to last for such a long time. 
Happy did not want to use either of the two weapons, but he knew that if someone went up against someone who had Wave Breaker Saber opr Scorching Sun Blade, they first would have to think about whether they had the money to repair their own divine weapon. After all, the better the quality of a weapon, the more expensive were the repair costs and the materials required for it. 
Happy also obtained two Great Saber Breaker Art manuals from Jinjiu once he completed the quest. 
'A Moksha Realm ultimate technique!'
He put away the items with great delight before he checked the items in the Universe Bags. He found three drops of Fire Qilin Blood and three Fire Qilin Scales within, which made him beyond himself with joy. 
There were also a few decent martial art techniques. One of them was Nine Heavens Fire Repelling Qi Cultivation Technique, while another a decent lightness skill that could only be learned by those at Moksha Realm. 
'These guys... they sure had a lot of valuable things.'
Happy sincerely felt that it was completely worth it for him to have used the Fire Qilin Blood earlier. 
Not only did he obtain two manuals of the martial art used by two peerless martial artists to protect their clan and two divine weapons that would produce two top-class elites in Mu Clan, he also obtained Fire Qilin Blood and Fire Qilin Scales, which were unexpected surprises. 
Besides that, Happy also obtained another surprise. 
It was in regards to the Nation Protecting Divine Sword, which had never been completed by the Murong Clan. Since he had obtained two bottles of essence and blood of two forgemasters, he could move the sword to a higher level and perfect it. Nation Protecting Sword would move from a grade one masterpiece to a high-grade divine weapon. 
Of course, if it had just been upgraded from a grade one masterpiece to a normal high-grade divine weapon, Happy would not be affected. 
The deal was that there was not just one fourth-echelon Nation Protecting Divine Sword in Mu Clan's storage. They were all refined by Heartless Iron and placed in storage because Mu Clan's resources sitting in their storage had provided him with the materials to refine those swords. 
Two bottles of forgemasters' essence and blood could upgrade two fourth-echelon Nation Protecting Divine Swords to high-grade divine weapons, so there was no way that Happy would not be excited. 
The deaths of two Myth Realm martial artists excited Happy quite a lot. 
But after going through his loot, he felt a faint wave of exhaustion. 
He had engaged Myth Realm martial artists in a high-intensity battle for a few hours. During that time, he did not dare to relax, so once it was over, in all honesty, he could only be described with one word: Tired. 
Once Happy organized the loot he obtained from the two Myth Realm martial artists, he had to log off to rest for a while. 
Even though the benefits he gained from Sky Demon Secret Cave far exceeded what he planned to gain, he still wanted to meet Fire Qilin, who dwelled in the depths of the cave and see whether he had the chance to level up Universe's Lightning Destruction Style even further. 
It was basically impossible for him to kill Fire Qilin. The two Myth Realm martial artists had not been able to do so even after they spent a long time trying, so Happy had no confidence to kill it as well. He only wanted to use Fire Qilin to test his sword technique. That was all.

Once Happy left the game, he habitually went to the balcony to sense the warmth from the sun on his skin, but against his expectations, when he reached the balcony, he heard the sound of a key being inserted into the keyhole, and he could not help but frown. 
He remembered that it was not the weekend, so Xu Xin should still be in class. Why would she suddenly come so early?
Happy turned around, but the sound of the key turning in the lock did not reach his ears. 
Instead, he heard a familiar voice outside. 
"Hey, buddy, you're an unfamiliar face. You don't seem to be a resident here." 
It was Knife. 
Happy was stunned when he heard him. 
'A stranger?'
It seemed like Knife had been alerted of a stranger moving upstairs, and he quickly walked out from the apartment across from Happy's to interrupt that person's act of opening the door. 
Happy immediately felt a dark emotion settle in his heart. 
He returned to the living room and walked to the door to cast a glance through the peephole. Then, he scowled and opened the door. 
The young stranger outside was already subjugated by Knife and pushed against the stairs. He begged for mercy. "Ack! Don't! My arm's about to break—"
When he saw the door to Happy's apartment open, cold sweat immediately flowed down his face, and he stopped talking once his face and lips turned pale. 
"Tell me where your key came from!"
When Knife saw that it was Happy who opened the door, his eyes returned to the young stranger once more, and he exerted more force on his leg. The young stranger could hear the sounds of his joints cracking. 
"ACK! Bro! Brother, please spare me!"
The first thing Happy did was to stare at the key stuck in the keyhole. He pulled it out and cast it a glance before he tried to open the door. His expression immediately turned incredibly unpleasant. 
The key might not have been the original copy, but it was clearly made based off of the original copy!
He said nothing and just brought out his phone in front of the young stranger, who was rapidly turning paler, and made a few calls. There were only three people who had the key to the base. One of they keys was in his hands, the other was in Xu Xin's, and the last in Lonely Three Wolves' hands. 
Happy was originally in a good mood, but he did not expect that he would run into this sort of matter. If it were not because of Knife, he might have been in danger. 
As for whether the event was to force him to buy peace or something else, it was difficult to say. 
But no matter who it was, there was no one who could maintain a good mood when they ran into this sort of matter. 
Happy called two people, and the answer he obtained was that they still had their keys!
He asked them whether they had ever handed their keys to someone else before, even if it was only for a short period of time, and both parties said no. 
Happy's heart immediately sank. 
If the young stranger had managed to get the key without batting an eyelid, it meant that whoever sent him made sure that he was after Happy!
"I'll give you one more chance. Tell me where your key came from!"
"I-I made it— Bro, it's my fault, okay! Let go of me! It hurts! Just send me to the police station. I won't dare to do this again..."
"When did you make it?"
"A few nights ago. I came over here to make it."
It would have been better if he did not provide this explanation, because once he did, Knife instantly laughed coldly. "Playing tricks with me, are you? This place is under surveillance twenty-four seven. Even if you're a special agent, it would have been impossible for you to get the key under our eyes. 
"Looks like you don't intend to say anything… Alright! Happy, let me handle this person. If I don't manage to make him talk in ten minutes and figure out the mastermind, my name won't be Knife."
Once he finished speaking, he knocked the young stranger unconscious and brought him into the apartment across from Happy's. 
Thud, thud!
Thunder walked down from the floor above with a stern face. When he saw how worried Happy looked, he said, "I looked through the area outside just now. There's no one suspicious. Let Knife handle this. He knows where to draw the line."


When he returned to the World of Martial Arts, the game was filled with blood and battles! Chen Kaixin had chased after the footsteps of the one emperor, two empresses, three princes, seven dukes, and thirteen aces for three years, but during the eve of the Sword Among Us tournament in Mount Hua, he was ambushed by evil bastards, and was killed so much that his level dropped to that of a newbie. He completely lost the chance to join the ranks of the powerful players in the game! In great disappointment, Kaixin quit the game and got drunk so that he could forget his sadness, but during that stormy night, Chen Kaixin found that he had actually dreamed for a total of three years, because when he woke up again, he woke up to three years ago, when he was still a student. 

At last they came to the watering place. Among the many people was a lovely Princess. Her malady was that she saw things too clearly, which can be most upsetting. For instance, she immediately saw that the newcomer was a very different sort of person from all the others.

"He has come here to make his beard grow, they say. But I see the real reason. He can't cast a shadow."

Her curiosity was aroused, and on the promenade she addressed this stranger directly. Being a king's daughter, she did not have to stand upon ceremony, so she said to him straight:

"Your trouble is that you can't cast a shadow."

"Your Royal Highness must have improved considerably," the shadow replied. "I know your malady is that you see too clearly, but you are improving. As it happens, I do have a most unusual shadow. Don't you see that figure who always accompanies me? Other people have a common shadow, but I do not care for what is common to all. Just as we often allow our servants better fabrics for their liveries than we wear ourselves, so I have had my shadow decked out as a man. Why, you see I have even outfitted him with a shadow of his own. It is expensive, I grant you, but I like to have something uncommon."

"My!" the Princess thought. "Can I really be cured? This is the foremost watering place in the world, and in these days water has come to have wonderful medicinal powers. But I shan't leave just as the place is becoming amusing. I have taken a liking to this stranger. I only hope his beard won't grow, for then he would leave us."

That evening, the Princess and the shadow danced together in the great ballroom. She was light, but he was lighter still. Never had she danced with such a partner. She told him what country she came from, and he knew it well. He had been there, but it was during her absence. He had looked through every window, high or low. He had seen this and he had seen that. So he could answer the Princess and suggest things that astounded her. She was convinced that he must be the wisest man in all the world. His knowledge impressed her so deeply, that while they were dancing she fell in love with him. The shadow could tell, for her eyes transfixed him, through and through. They danced again, and she came very near telling him she loved him, but it wouldn't do to be rash. She had to think of her country, and her throne, and the many people over whom she would reign.

"He is a clever man," she said to herself, "and that is a good thing. He dances charmingly, and that is good too. But is his knowledge more than superficial? That's just as important, so I must examine him."

Tactfully, she began asking him the most difficult questions, which she herself could not have answered. The shadow made a wry face.

"You can't answer me?" said the Princess.

"I knew all that in my childhood," said the shadow. "Why, I believe that my shadow over there by the door can answer you."

"Your shadow!" said the Princess. "That would be remarkable indeed!"

"I can't say for certain," said the shadow, "but I'm inclined to think so, because he has followed me about and listened to me for so many years. Yes, I am inclined to believe so. But your Royal Highness must permit me to tell you that he is quite proud of being able to pass for a man, so if he is to be in the right frame of mind to answer your questions he must be treated just as if he were human."

"I like that!" said the Princess.

So she went to the scholar in the doorway, and spoke with him about the sun and the moon, and about people, what they are inside, and what they seem to be on the surface. He answered her wisely and well.

"What a man that must be, to have such a wise shadow!" she thought. "It will be a godsend to my people, and to my country if I choose him for my consort. That's just what I'll do!"

The narrow street of high houses where he lived, 

There's a young and clever scholar it felt as if he were sitting in a blazing hot oven - and toaster. It exhausted him so that he became with his soul.

Sprawled out on the green grass and passed out was a white youth dressed in black sleeveless shirt and shorts. A cool wind ruffled his clothes while the sun cast a warm glow on his snow white hair. Ever so slowly, the youth opened his eyes, the bright red a stark contrast to his black clothes and white hair. 

Miu Furinji was confused about many things. How did this young man get here into Ryozanpaku and when did he get in? Why was there a suitcase filled with money next to him? What did the note attached to it mean when it said "Take care of him"? Everything about the situation was baffling, but in the end she decided to just kneel here and wait for this stranger to wake up which it seemed he was finally doing.

Miu watched with immense curiousity as the young man pushed himself into a sitting position, his almost glowing red eyes, the clearest and brightest red Miu had ever seen, filled with a look of confusion. He blinked a couple of times as he looked around, giving Miu the impression that maybe even he didn't know where he was. He seemed to have no clue as to what was happening to him, looking around before shifting his gaze onto her.

"Um, hello," Miu said politely. "Are you okay? Do you need any help?"

The teenager blinked a few times before responding. "Who are you? Where am I?"


Miu smiled as she sat down on the grass in front of the stranger. "My name is Miu Furinji and your currently on the lawn of the place called Ryozanpaku, home of various martial arts masters. Can I ask what your name is?"

The youth seemed to ponder this question longer then he should've. The next thing that happened however was completely unexpected as the stranger suddenly clutched his head in agony, as if just trying to recall something as simple as a name was too painful. He didn't scream, but Miu could see just how much pain he was in through his obvious expression. 

"Whats wrong, are you okay?" Miu asked, reaching out a hand, wanting to help. "Are you injured? Wounded? I can't help you if you don't tell me."

The young man didn't say anything at first, he judt slowly calmed down, eventually removing his hands from his head. His red eyes focusing on Miu's blue ones once again. "I don't remember my name. I cant even remember anything, at least anything important. When I just tried to recall anything, I got a sharp pain in my head."

Miu thought over what the stranger had said before standing up. "I'll be right back, don't go anywhere okay?" She gave him a small smile before turning around and running away.

Heading to the long building to the east side of Ryozanpaku that was known as the dojo, Miu went inside to see how her grandfather and the other masters would handle the news.

"I still don't understand why someone would even bother leaving him here of all places." Kensei Ma said as he looked down at the suitcase in the middle of the table. "We don't even know who he is and if he might be dangerous or not. Are we really considering taking him in. Based on some note?"

"Of course not," Hayato Furinji, stroking his long beard. "We're doing it because of the 500,000,000 yen thats inside the suitcase. If it simply means looking after a single brat then we as masters would be fools not to accept it. Money is money after all and we certainly need it."

Miu, having heard what was being discussed, slid open the door to the dojo. "I agree, we should accept what the note says." She walked in and after closing the door behind her. "He lost his memory!! Theres no way we can just throw him back out onto the street."

"Oh, Miu, your back," Hayato said with a grin, still stroking his beard. "However since you claim that the boy has no memories, I can only assume that you weren't able to garner any information from the him. How regrettable.....but it works for us. All we gotta do is feed him, clothe him, and enroll him in the school Miu will be going to next month and problem solved. We keep the money for ourselves."

There was a chorus of clapping that followed the decision in which Shio Sakaki and Akisame Koetsugi clapped their hands together in applause. Akisame looked like he wanted to add something but kept his mouth shut instead, simply clapping along with Sakaki.

After a few seconds however, it got real quiet for a moment Sakaki took notice of something while picking up a beer bottle. "Hey, has anyone seen Apachai around? I thought we were all in the room together a few moments ago?"

Everyone looked at each other, no one uttering a sound as they processed that Apachai wasn't with them. Of course, once it finally clicked, there was a huge hustle out of the dojo as they rushed to go and look for the stranger. Apachai tended to get excited around strangers and would begin to accidently break things in his excitement. There was even a chance that he could scare off the stranger with his intimidating physique that normally frightened people off.

However, their fears turned out to be unfounded as Apachai seemed to be practicing while the youth looked on from a distance. He hadn't moved from where Miu had told him to, but from where he was sitting, he could clearly see the training posts that Apachai was currently practicing on.

Letting out a small breath, Miu walked over to the stranger and sat down beside him. "So, we've decided to take you in. Isn't that great?!"

The young male looked ay Miu for a few moments before giving her a small smile. "Sure, I guess its okay. I don't necessarily understand everything thats happening to me right now so I guess thats the best option."

"However, I'm still unsure about what to call you," Miu said. "We should call you something otherwise it'll get confusing. Anything you'd like to be called?"


The young man seemed to think about it for a second but ended uo shaking his head. "I can't think of anything good. How about you come up with a name for me?"

"You want me to?" Miu asked, a bit in shock. She composed herself quickly however and smiled. "I do have a great name that I once read in a book. How about Jack Evergreen? Sounds neat right?"

Took a while but I'm back to full fighting strength. 

Cut me some slack as I'm not good with starting novels. Every other chaoter from this one onwards will be longer and better.
