Causing immediate excitement among Mrs. Bennet and her five daughters, Mr. Bingley, a wealthy young gentleman, has rented a nearby country estate, Netherfield. He arrives in town accompanied by his fashionable sister and his good friend, Mr. Darcy. While Bingley is well-received in the community, Darcy begins his acquaintance with smug condescension and proud distaste for all the “country” people. Bingley and Jane Bennet begin to grow close despite Mrs. Bennet’s embarrassing interference and the opposition of Bingley’s sister, who considers Jane socially inferior. Elizabeth is stung by Darcy’s haughty rejection of her at a local dance and decides to match his coldness with her own wit.

Elizabeth begins a friendship with Mr. Wickham, a militia officer who has a history with Darcy. Wickham claims that Darcy seriously mistreated him. Elizabeth immediately seizes upon this information as another reason to hate Darcy. Ironically, but unbeknownst to her, Darcy finds himself gradually drawn to Elizabeth.
Just as Bingley appears to be on the point of proposing marriage to Jane, he moves away from Netherfield, leaving Jane confused and upset. Elizabeth is convinced that Bingley’s sister has conspired with Darcy to separate Jane and Bingley.

Mr. Collins, a distant relative of the Bennets, makes an unexpected visit. He is a recently ordained clergyman employed by the wealthy Lady Catherine de Bourgh. On his way to visit his patron, Collins makes a visit, intending to find a wife from among the Bennet sisters. At first, he pursues Jane; however, when Mrs. Bennet mentions she is involved with Mr. Bingley, he turns to Elizabeth. He soon proposes marriage to Elizabeth, who refuses him, much to her mother’s distress. Collins quickly recovers and proposes to Elizabeth’s close friend, Charlotte Lucas, who immediately accepts him. Their marriage takes place soon after.

In the spring, Elizabeth joins Charlotte and Mr. Collins at his parish in Kent. The parish is adjacent to Rosings Park, the grand manor of Mr. Darcy’s aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, where Elizabeth is frequently invited. While calling on Lady Catherine, Mr. Darcy encounters Elizabeth. She discovers from Darcy’s cousin that it was he who separated Bingley and Jane, as she suspected. Soon after, Darcy admits his love of Elizabeth and proposes to her. Elizabeth refuses him. When he asks why she should refuse him, she confronts him with his sabotage of Bingley’s relationship with Jane and his history with Wickham. Darcy responds with a long letter justifying his actions.

Thus, everything is set up to bring to conclusion the various love affairs—happily, or perhaps unhappily. Whatever the various resolutions, Darcy, Bingley, Jane, Elizabeth, as well as others, will need to overcome their pride and prejudices if they are to find love in the midst of these uncertain and complex relationships.

Interrupted by the sound of Ben's voice, Payton and J.D. looked over and saw him standing in his doorway.
"Shall we?" Ben gestured for them to join him in his office.
J.D. caught Payton's eye as they headed inside, seeming to find Ben's interruption as inconvenient as she. They had barely taken their seats in front of the desk when Ben got right down to business.
"So I got a call from Jasper this morning," he began. "Apparently they've had a little shake-up in the Gibson's legal department. He fired the general counsel—probably a smart move since the guy obviously didn't do a very good job of preventing this mess they're in. The new GC started on Monday and, not surprisingly, is eager to meet with some of the people at our firm who will be working on the case. Jasper specifically asked whether either—or both—of you might possibly be free to fly down tomorrow for a meet and greet with him and the new general counsel. He acknowledged that this was short notice, but said he thought that since tomorrow is Friday, there was a chance the two of you might be free in the evening from your other work commitments."
Ben cleared his throat. "Obviously, Jasper isn't aware of the situation here, that one of you will not be continuing on in this matter. And I think it's best that he not be made aware of that fact until the partnership decision has been announced." Leaning back in his chair, he sighed melodramatically. "Given the circumstances, I find it a little awkward to ask you two to do this. Although, with the decision being this close—"
"I'll go," J.D. said.
Ben stopped and looked over. He appeared pleased by the definitiveness with which J.D. had responded. "Good." He nodded his approval, then turned. "What do you say, Payton?"
She could feel J.D.'s eyes on her as she answered.
"I'll go, too."
Ben smiled. "Great. I'll call Jasper and let him know to expect you both." He glanced over at J.D. "You get there early enough, Jameson, you might even be able to squeeze in a round. Palm Beach has some great courses. I think the last time I was there was over three years ago. We went in May and it was nearly ninety degrees. And humid as all hell." He pointed. "You two better prepare yourselves. It's going to be a hot and steamy trip."
It took every ounce of Payton's strength not to react to that.

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT set Payton's meal down in front of her.
"And one vegetarian entree for you," she said efficiently before turning to serve lunch to the passengers across the aisle.
Seated next to Payton, J.D. didn't even bother to look up from his Wall Street Journal.
"Vegetarian? Now there's a surprise."
"About as surprising as you turning first to the financial section of the paper."
J.D. shrugged. "So? I have a few investments."
"I have investments. You have a portfolio," Payton emphasized.
J.D. felt the need to set the record straight. He put down his paper and turned in his seat to face her.
"Payton, I have to tell you something, and I know this is going to come as a shock, but it's better you hear it now." He leaned in consolingly. "You have money." He shook his head. What a shame.
Payton waved this off. "Please. You have money. I have a job that pays well. There's a difference."
"We make the same exact salary."
"But you have an extravagant lifestyle."
J.D. laughed at that. Did he now? Maybe in her eyes, he supposed. She was a walking contradiction and completely oblivious to that fact.
"You have five-hundred-dollar shoes," he pointed out.
"Not anymore."
J.D. cleared his throat. Probably best if they just moved on to another topic.
He watched as Payton picked at her sandwich, some sprouty/all-natural/no-taste concoction. Since they were flying business class, they had seats together, just the two of them. They could talk about anything and not be overheard, although so far Payton's conversation with him throughout the flight had consisted entirely of business-related talk and/or sass. Perhaps it was time to shake things up.
"So . . . you didn't say why you broke up with Chase."
"You're right, I didn't say."
"Are you avoiding the subject?"
Payton put her sandwich down and turned to face him. "Why don't we talk about you for a change?"
Realizing he really needed to refine his subject-changing skills, J.D. struck a nonchalant look. "What about me?"
"Well, you're thirty-two years old—"
"The same age as you."
"—and still single," she finished. "Aren't you supposed to be married by now to a Muffy or a Bitsy or some other society type with a brain as big as this pickle?"
J.D. peered over. "That's a pretty big pickle."
Payton smiled. "So? What gives?"
J.D. couldn't help but look as, while waiting for his answer, Payton crossed one high-heeled leg over the other, notably in his direction. Did she know the effect she had on him? He suspected she did. It was a little dance they did, the way they both conspicuously avoided talking about what had happened in her apartment the other night. He had a feeling that there was more behind her "innocent" questions regarding his love life than she wanted to let on. But he had no intention of cutting the game short. Not yet, anyway. Seeing that she still waited for his answer, J.D. shrugged. "I guess I've just been focused on things at work." He watched as Payton nodded. This she could understand.
Now that the subject of work had been raised, the conversation drifted onto a safer topic: their upcoming meeting with Jasper and his new general counsel. In appreciation of the fact that Payton and J.D. had agreed to fly down to Florida on such short notice, Jasper had suggested, for their convenience, that they meet for dinner at their hotel. J.D. could certainly think of worse places to spend a Friday evening than at the Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach. Putting aside all partnership/career advancement issues, one of the main reasons he had so quickly agreed to the trip was because he knew Payton similarly would never pass up the opportunity.
Payton asked him what information, if any, he had been able to uncover about the lawyer Jasper had hired to be Gibson's new general counsel. J.D. reached into his briefcase for the file he had thrown together earlier that morning when he stopped at the office before heading off to the airport.
Strangely, he discovered something in his briefcase that he had not put there.
A book.
Confused—and with the momentary thought that he was going to be really f**king pissed if this was some sort of South Florida drug-mule scam that would land him in jail and cut into his posh Ritz-Carlton relaxation time—J.D. pulled out the book.
Pride and Prejudice.
It bore a Post-it note, unsigned, that read:
In case of an emergency. Trust me.
J.D. rolled his eyes. Oh, for crying out loud. He had told Tyler about the trip with Payton and his "helpful" friend must have slipped the book into his carry-on when he'd stepped out of his office.
Just as he was about to stuff the silly girly tome back into his briefcase, Payton glanced over.
"Oh, you brought a book? What are you reading?" She leaned over, saw the title, then peered up at J.D. with an expression of unmistakable surprise. "Pride and Prejudice? Wow. I wouldn't have guessed that was your kind of book."
J.D. immediately went on the defensive. "Come on, do you really think . . ." His words trailed off as Payton leaned back languidly in her seat with a dreamy, faraway look.
"Mr. Darcy . . ." She sighed wistfully. She distractedly put her pen in her mouth—J.D. noticed a little flush to her cheeks—and without even realizing it, she slowly slid the pen in and out between her lips.
In and out.
"Fitzwilliam Darcy and his ten thousand a year . . ." she said, still dreamy.
J.D. had no idea what she was talking about, but he couldn't help but stare. The pen. The lips. In and out.
In and out.
Tyler was a f**king genius.
With a blink, Payton came out of her reverie. Most unfortunately.
"Sorry. What were we talking about?" she asked, a little breathless.
Clearing his throat, J.D. held up the book. "Pride and Prejudice?"
Payton smiled fondly. "Yes. It's one of my favorites."
"I caught that. Gotta love that"—J.D. quickly stole a glance at the back cover—"Elizabeth Bennet."
This seemed to wake Payton up. "Well, of course," she said, not unlike Tyler, as if only a Neanderthal wouldn't be in the know. "Elizabeth Bennet is only one of the greatest literary heroines of all time."
J.D. could see she was beginning to get all riled up and lecture-y again. Not that he particularly minded. "Is that so?"
"Yes, that's so. She's clever, witty, bold, and independent. True, she can be a bit proud, some would say she's far too sassy for her time, and she's definitely judgmental, but still—that's why we love her."
J.D. cocked his head. "Well. I guess that settles that."
Payton grinned, a little embarrassed. "Sorry. I can get kind of carried away talking about that book." She paused, remembering. "Weren't you going to show me the information you pulled on Gibson's new general counsel?"
Back to business. J.D. handed Payton the file he had compiled and she began to read through it. But after a few minutes of working in silence, she cast a sideways glance in his direction.
"Still . . . it is kind of a wussy read for a guy, Jameson." With a sly half smile, she turned back to her reading.
J.D. didn't bother to dignify that with a response. But after a few minutes had passed, he subtly glanced over and watched Payton as she worked.
Proud and sassy, no doubt. And definitely judgmental.
But still.
PAYTON STOOD IN front of the closet in her underwear, scrutinizing her dress for wrinkles. She was relieved to see it had survived the plane trip relatively unscathed because (a) she had absolutely zero skill when it came to using an iron and (b) there wasn't time to iron anyway because she was supposed to meet J.D. in the hotel bar downstairs in five minutes.
This was business, she kept reminding herself. She and J.D. were here, at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach, just steps from the white-sand beach and the cerulean blue water of the Atlantic Ocean, on business.
She had stayed in nice hotels before, of course. Plenty of them. One of the perks of working for a top-tier firm was that its lawyers were expected to stay—for image purposes—at top-tier hotels when traveling. It also wasn't the first time she'd traveled on business on a Friday evening, and it certainly wasn't the first time she'd traveled with a male coworker.
But.

Payton Kendall and J.D. Jameson are lawyers who know the meaning of objection. A feminist to the bone, Payton has fought hard to succeed in a profession dominated by men. Born wealthy, privileged, and cocky, J.D. has fought hard to ignore her. Face-to-face, they're perfectly civil. They have to be. The large faced, grandfather clock struck noon in the parlor of the Mikaelson compound. Eve had been nestled in the corner of the couch with a worn book in her lap. She'd gone through the collection in the personal library happily settling with a book she'd never read before, but seemed interesting. The book was Pride and Prejudice. As she read she felt as though she'd been transported to another world; a kinder world. One she wished to live in again.
Evangeline glanced up as the clock struck and had suddenly reminded her she had a grumbling stomach having not been fed since 8:00 that morning. She closed the aged book and stood, walking the book back to its place on the shelf, taking care that she wouldn't lose her place. After it was secure on the shelf she walked back to the couch and picked up the blanket she'd used to warm her always chilled feet and neatly folded it into a square, resting it on the armrest.
As much as her brothers would prefer, she did not want to stay in the house today. The sky was gorgeous and she wanted to enjoy a nice lunch in the shade outside one of those little cafes that always looked so inviting when she'd pass by in a car. Guilt began to rise in her chest as she thought of simply leaving the compound on her own without telling anyone, but if she were to tell anyone then they'd accompany her. That was what she didn't want. She was a woman, not a child, she didn't need a babysitter. After a little more convincing she picked up the little purse that contained the money she'd need and headed out the door.
Feelings of excitement and worry swirled in her stomach as she walked down the main stretch of Bourbon Street. It really was a gorgeous city with so much life and culture, she could now see why her family had chosen to settle here. A realm of supernatural entities and superb jazz, what more could they ask for? She soon came upon the little café she'd noticed before, but Nik was in too much of a hurry to stop. She entered the little place that was busy with customers and waitress trying to keep up with the influx of lunch-goers.
Eve stood patiently in line, trying to ignore a man in front of her who constantly stamped his foot and checked his watch. Why was everyone in such a hurry? She understood the urgencies of lunch breaks and returning to work on time, she was adamant about arriving at her destinations on time, but she noticed this form of impatience even from tourists who were on vacation. The idea of never slowing down left a distasteful film in her mouth. When it was her turn, she asked what the barista recommended for her to try, having not much experience with lattes or cappuccinos. A voice sounded behind her.
"That would depend if you have a sweet tooth," the deep voice said.
Blinking in surprise by the unexpected answer, she turned her head to see over her shoulder. Behind her stood a tall man dressed in a dapper suit and tie. His dark hair was slicked back and parted to the side, looking clean and comely. Though it was his face that drew her attention immediately. Those eyes, as blue as the arctic, and that face as chiseled as a Greek sculpture. His lips curved into a rather attractive smile and she couldn't help but stare in awe for a moment before being brought back to reality by his smooth voice again.
"If you were to prefer a sweetened taste I'd say a Caramel Macchiato. Assuming you like caramel, that is."
"Yes, sir. I should think I do" she paused, thinking back to the lesson in modern-day behavior by women her age, fully aware she didn't sound from this century. She pursed her lips into a thin line, she'd have to watch more movies if she were to fit in with society properly.
There was this slight glitter in his eyes, humor perhaps? She watched him as he stepped forward and took out a crisp twenty from his billfold and handed it to the barista. "A Caramel Macchiato for the lady added extra whip topping for the occasion. For myself a dark roast coffee plain, please." It didn't occur to Eve that he'd just paid for her drink until the steaming cup was handed to her.
"Oh, you didn't have to pay for my drink. I have money" she said furrowing her eyebrows with concern, she knew her family had plenty of money and didn't need anyone to aid them in finances.
The smile that graced his lips before appeared again and she was glad for it. There was a sensation of something warm in the pit of her stomach for those curved lips. "I'm aware," he said simply, "Give it a try. I think you'll like it."
Eve looked down at the steam billowing from the little opening in the lid. She placed her pale pink lips against the lid and allowed a small portion of the contents to enter her mouth. It was scorching and delicious at the same time. She looked up at him to find him studying her with an interested expression as if he were an artist observing a formation of nature "You're right. It's very good."
"Would you like to sit?" he asked politely, gesturing to an empty table in the corner of the café. The building had dispersed tremendously as those on lunch break left and tourists preferred the outside seating. She followed his hand to the table holding her steaming cup careful to not let it spill. She wondered why someone would choose a hot drink on a hot day. Yes, it was savory, but she couldn't see the reasoning. Wouldn't they prefer cool water?
"Thank you" she said as she smoothed her white, flower stitched patterned dress from behind, and sat down in the chair he offered. "What occasion is it?" she asked then, "You told her 'for the occasion'. So, what is the occasion?"
He smirked slyly, "Meeting you, of course. I'm Ian. You are?"
A light pink blush spread along with the apples of her cheeks. Meeting her was an occasion? "Evangeline," she said softly in a hushed voice, suddenly feeling very shy, "Though, you may call me Eve if you wish. I mean… you can if you want to." Curse her for reading Pride and Prejudice before leaving.
Ian raised a brow and smile, "I like Evangeline, actually. It's… unique. Originality is hard to come by these days."
"Oh, I'm quite Original," she grinned widely at her own inside joke, "Thank you. For paying for my drink. You didn't have to, you know."
"I know," he shrugged, "But I have learned from my own experience to never pass an opportunity that might be worthwhile."
What did he mean by that, had he thought she might be worthwhile? She gazed at him, studying his handsome features. He was easily the most beautiful man she'd ever laid eyes on. "That's good advice I suppose" her eyes cast downward to her hands which lay folded on the table politely, her long dark eyelashes brushing her the tops of her cheeks. She glanced up, catching him watching her again.
"You stare at me. Why?" she asked. She wasn't anything extraordinary to observe for so long. She was pretty, yet plain; simple.
With a shrug of his shoulders, he leaned forward, his long index finger tapping against the brim of his coffee lid. "I suppose I'm trying to understand why you're so different from everyone else here. I can't say I've met someone who's struck my interest so… instantly."
"I've struck your interest?" she asked in surprise "I'm not very interesting. You'd soon find that and find yourself bored."
"Somehow, I doubt that" he smirked crookedly, it was a nice smile, one that could bring a whirl of butterflies in her stomach. "It's because you think you aren't interesting that makes you more interesting," he furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head to the side, "I simply wanted to learn your name, and perhaps…" he picked up a napkin from the holder and then removed a golden ballpoint pen from his breast pocket, "take a chance to see what might happen." He scribbled a ten-digit number and passed it to her.
Eve looked up as he stood from his seat, coffee in hand listening as he spoke "I'm a firm believer in chance. Unfortunately, I need to be somewhere right now, but if I get a call tonight," he tapped the napkin with his phone number, "It will be a chance worth taken." He smiled once more before nodding to her politely "I hope to hear from you soon, Evangeline."
She watched him as he walked out of the place. She continued to stare even when he was well out of sight, her mind racing. Never had a man been so forward and yet so gentleman like towards her. They were either gentlemen or not. There was no in-between from her experience. She looked down at the phone number, a slow smile touching her lips. A soft sigh of content escaped her chest as she sat back in the chair and crossed her ankles under the table, taking another sip of the still steaming beverage in her hand. His fine-looking features etched into her memory for future pondering of what might be.

Being as gentle as possible, Elijah gripped the dark handle and began pulling it from her chest. The sound of the dagger being released sent a sliding echo through the cavern. It was time for his little Eve to awaken.

Racism is the result of the presence of race as a social construct paired with the already existing prejudice and power structure.

Racial social construct + prejudice + power = racism

Now, you may notice that this is a different equation from the one you might be seeing on Instagram, which is:

Prejudice + power = racism

I don't like that equation because without identifying the construct in the equation this could represent anything since prejudice and power are broad terms that can be applied to many forms of hatred. For example:

Prejudice + power = sexism 

Prejudice + power = anti-semitism

Prejudice + power = homophobia

Every single one of these equations are correct because prejudice and power are both terms heavily present in all of these forms of hate. What makes racism uniquely racism, is the race component. Don't forget that. Racism depends on race.

There's also some other equations that fit the racism model, such as:

Racial social construct + discrimination + prejudice + power = racism

Racial social construct + abuse + prejudice + power = racism

Racial social construct + discrimination + abuse + prejudice + power = racism

Try to think of my initial racism equation as a base equation and the others as add-on equivalents. 

Okay, this is getting too mathy and I know some of y'all don't like math, so I'll move on.

Racism made its way into every crevice in society. Our social systems, political systems, justice systems, school systems, everything. The United States, in particular, has abused race as a social construct and implements it everywhere, thus allowing racism here to run more rampant and intense than it does in other countries. Race is found to be the basis of everything in American society and it is extremely toxic because with race comes racism.

Racism is not a black and white concept. It's not as simple as being racist or not racist because racism exists on a spectrum. Let me elaborate:

"Racism is an epistemology (the way to gather knowledge) that has been inculcated through a curriculum and societal system...I too promote a white supremacist agenda." -Pran Patel

In this quote, Pran Patel basically acknowledges that due to racism being a social construct so heavily ingrained into every aspect of our society that we all promote a white supremacist agenda. Race is everywhere and because of which starting off as children we are inadvertently exposed to ideas of hate leading to implicit bias, microaggressions, and ignorance amongst other things. Even six month old babies can begin to racially categorize people. So, even if you aren't blatantly racist, just the way we grow up in American society has instilled small bits of racism in each and every one of us. That's why it is better referred to as a spectrum in which one will never be not racist.

I know it's a little jarring and probably uncomfortable. I know many pride themselves in the idea that they aren't racists and that they are better people than those who are, but you're wrong. No matter how "woke" you think you are, you're a little racist. We all are. As upsetting as it might be to accept that, you also need to know that it is totally possible to do better.

None of us will ever be 100% not racist at any point in our lives no matter how hard we try, but we can at least acknowledge that as time goes on and we all learn more, we can get better and move down the spectrum. Honestly, it's something to be proud of because humans actually have an inclination to move further up the spectrum. Even though racism isn't necessarily inherent to human nature, prejudice is and it helps fuel people towards that right end of the spectrum. Being able to disregard our natural inclinations for prejudice and move towards the left side of the spectrum one bit at a time is something to be proud about.

Due to the nature of the human brain and how malleable it is, even the introduction of racism into our society causes deep psychological effects for everyone. Like, how even as toddlers, humans are able to pick up on the social cues that place importance of one race over another and start implementing that bias in their brains. Or how POCs who are poorly represented in media have lowered self-esteem just by watching television due to being bombarded with the over-representation of groups that are not themselves. Or how extreme racism, hate crimes, and disadvantages result in trauma, which is present in many POCs and several of these cases technically qualify as PTSD, but many people don't realize that or think it's not important because they think PTSD is only for soldiers. 

It's for these reasons and many more that racism is not just hate. It's a cancer to our society. A disease that needs to be removed because it infects everything. It infects every system we have, our daily lives, our brains, our humanity. Everything it touches is changed for the worse.

First off: I apologize for the novel genre category. Obviously this isn’t realistic fiction and is a harsh reality. This site just isn’t really geared towards non-fiction and none of the pre-set genres describe my book well enough.

Anyway, I've created this education series in aims of teaching people about the important things in life that they never really learned. Our education system is so faulted that we aren't learning the right things to be successful in life and live happily.

The first of this series is this book regarding race and racism. This book discusses what race and racism are, how they relate, how they impact POCs, and how we can combat these negative effects through education and embracing anti-racism.

As I sat down on my Literature Class, my all eyes and ears ate focused infront. Lecturing about a novel entitled 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. All must say, she is very talented, isn't she. A masterpiece I guess.

"so class, Pride and Prejudice is set primarily in the county of Hertfordshire, about 50 miles outside of London. The story centers on the the Bennet family, particularly Elizabeth. The novel opens at Longbourn, the Bennet family's estate. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five children: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. "Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is such a very impression and wonderful masterpiece and timeless. Like Darcy comes to love Elizabeth sincerely by the end of the novel therefore because she is one of the only women to stand up to him and to teach him a lesson that leads to true development in his character. This builds on his earlier favourable impressions of Elizabeth to form a solid, lasting regard and love towards her."

" So you're sating effort is one the mixture of the lasting regard and love to the people like the characters situation in the Novel? " My professor ask.

"Lasting love has to be built on mutual regard and respect. It is about seeing the other person or other people. I am very interested in relationships and, when I watch couples,observing people sometimes in their simple eye contacts will saw the effortless love that they have. the ideal state of romantic love and without a whole lot of rational thoughts you typically attempt to secure the object of your passion by putting their wants and needs ahead of your own. It's as though you're saying to yourself: "So I can make you mine, I'll make fulfilling your desires even more important than my own." It called a selfless love. You do all of your best to fulfill the love for your partner or to other people." I feel the intensity amd more focused on my classmates because of my words. Same as my professor that nodding while I'm saying all I want to say. As I continue what I'm saying, I saw Andrei outside of our classroom but it isn't time yet. He's eyes widened and all eyes and ears on me too. I continue speaking. 

"And whether or not you're aware of it, the "deal" you're making to maximize the odds that the one who's endeared themselves to you will return this endearment involves a considerable amount of manipulation. That is, your efforts could hardly be described as disinterested. As generous in spirit as your "giving" relational stance might appear, it yet includes a crucial contingency clause. Hopeful about enamoring yourself to your beloved, you're essentially proposing a this-for-that, give-to-get, exchange. So even though to an outside observer your behavior might seem selfless or self-sacrificing, it's actually an intuitive, and quite clever, way of "captivating" someone whose value you're assessing as, well, invaluable. As I sat down on my Literature Class, my all eyes and ears ate focused infront. Lecturing about a novel entitled 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. All must say, she very talented, isn't she. A masterpiece I guess.

"so class, Pride and Prejudice is set primarily in the county of Hertfordshire, about 50 miles outside of London. The story centers on the the Bennet family, particularly Elizabeth. The novel opens at Longbourn, the Bennet family's estate. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five children: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. Abiathar aero angrily limped down the hall of the medic center he was trapped in. snapping at a healer who tried to help him, he tried to push down the memories that lead to his current imprisonment.

Aero was a member of the Grinine Race native to the planet augustine. The grine were humanoid being with vibrant skin tones not a single hair on their body plus then but strong exoskeletons a different color from their skin. An interesting characteristic of the grine is that the male bear there offspring and are held in high regard yet treated like glass something aero hated, the glass thing not the other one.

Augustine was a thickly forested planet with many fast reproducing species that for a reason unknown to them hate the Grine. To repeal these aggressive creatures the Grine opened melee school where they trained people to specifically deal with them. Areo was attending one of these schools which made him world-famous as he is the only male to do so period. There were two responses to this those who supported him but asked him to be careful and those who told him he should stop before he hurt himself, he disliked the first type and hated the second.

Anyway, the reason he was injured was because on his last training mission where he was supposed to take care of a small pack of babbits a somewhat horrid-looking mix between a rabbit and bat but were a very dull green. It turned out that it was forty large packs of babbits. Aero was to take out 35 packs before he ran into trouble. One of the babbits manged to bit his ankle the situaction went down hill from there. Capsizeing on his injury the beast knocked away his weapon before ganging up on him. Though he was able to take down a few more but he knew that unless something happened he would die. So seeing he had no other choice but to ask for help and ge was recused by-

Slaming his fist into the wall denting it Aero tried to  push down the rage and shame in his viens,'damn the zalts why did ith ave to be her. There are hundreds of students what bad luck did i have at that time.' straight up growling at the nurse who tried too help him Aero started moving back to his room. Tearing the curtain aside he groaned at the sight of the man known as Adir beit looking over his medical report scrool. Taking a deep breath he growled," Hello Adir."

"Hello Aero, how's this place treating  you?"

"Like i'm glass but the foods decent." the younger male grumbled as he walked over to his bed. Beds used the Grine were basliy giant quilt beanbags, the design of each was unique to each owner becauses the squares making up the quilt recored signifnt events of there life with a represintive image and the date. Aeros  bed had the genaric forst few squres birth, first sentece first friend  first fight won, okay that last one wasn't genric  but he was so happy and proud of it his mother couldn't  not make a sqres for it(a lot of people said she should have waited until after his punsihment to give it to him). Flopppoing int his bed Aero tossed his cruth to the side before rolling over he listened to Adir talk about some mindless things as he tried to plan his return to cshool and how he would deal with the wispers that was sure to greet him. His first idea was to ignore them but he vetoteed that becauses he didn't have a saints patience(or much at all), his sceond idea was to knock out a few wispers but the teacher would have him scrubbing floors again(not happening), maybe he could knock out the whispers in a challenge then he wouldn't be scrubbing the floor but few would accept a challenge from him…

It was seven and a half petals later that a coment from Adir pulled Aero from his planning," so your mother gave mme a mesage to give you, forst she ask that you waot until your injurgy fully healed before you start training, second don't be too mean to the staff remeber most people walk on ice with you, third you'll be getting a patch  for this event," imedatly Aero tried to speack up but Adir cut him off," you may not like it but this is a event that has a big effect on your life so you will get a patch, those are your mother's words exactly." adir finshed up from the other side of the room  where he moved where he moved while he talked(just becauses Aero was injuryed didn't mean he was harmless)

Grumbling Aero truned over grabbing the medi center issude blankt as the foot of his bed and pulled it over his head. Sighing Adir grabbed his leather sack from where it sat next to the door and pulled out a rather thick scrool. Placing the scrool on aero's he whispered farewell before leaving. Hearing the curtain move Aero pushed the blanket down to his lap before sitting up  and grabbing the scroll, 'birth of the lords' the leather binding of the scroll read. Curios and having nothing better to do he undid the leather opening the scroll.

The story was in treating talking about how the universe was created. The one who created was the source,  at one point he topic change to some bad guy who did seven grande sins for power. How he fought with the source and lost the battle. The war on the other hand came to a standstill as the source was injured and seven in killable beasts were born.

"What interesting story!" he commented after rewrapping the scrool."what if it was real?" the intruder caught his leg like it was nothing smiling brightly.

"Now, now!" they caught his cruch, " I'm not here to fight you I'm here to ask you a few things."  Aero tried to take back his crutch so he could hit the intruder, sighing they attacked a never cluster in aero's stunning him.

"My name is Abhimani, I'm female and the cosmic lord of pride. Would you mind becoming my successor?"

"Successor to what" she only had him best for the moment,  but that wasn't gonna stop him from kicking her ass. Especially for looking at him like that like he was a harmless little thing.

"Why the lord of pride of course! Like in that story scroll." aero remembered that, the temporary lord made from the parts of the companion.

"I don't want your power!" aero said trying to figure how he could move again.

"I'm not offering you my power, I'm offering you a chance to make your mother proud and make those naysayers eat their words. I'm giving the chance to make sure there's never a repeat of needing to accept help from someone you hate."

"I know you're trying to use my pride against me!"

"The fact you can realize it only makes you a better successor, control your immense pride that is why I'm offering to you. but the question will you take the title, the title that will allow you to live up to your endless pride?" the smile on there face was the smile of someone who knew they would win.

"no!" just to spite them he smiled as he said it he wanted that title but he wanted to be minuplated less.

"that fine, I'll just have to give it the one more worthy then you." bait

"huh, by the zalts is that?" in the back of his head aero heard a warning.

"why the one you saved you!" line

"no, NO NO! NO!! she is not better than me.  I know this like I know the rights of Koneas the zaltses of work! that female is not better than me!" if his leg could handle it he would have stood and tried to strangle the stranger, he would have tried if he could move

"then prove it and take the tile of lord of pride" sinker. "I'll take it and show you that no one will be a better pride lord then me!"

"really thank you, to give you the titles are heart must be near each other. that won't be a real problem seeing how most species have their heart in their chest" the current lord of pride didn't dare have there successor show him his bareback, he lacked armor there so it was an intimate place.

in the end, they placed their chest together allowing the transfer to start, aero flinched when he felt the prideful energy flow into him.  it was strange how the energy felt prideful but aero calmed himself allowing the transfer to happen." ah I've been found out!" calm aero was able to understand, and yes he was pissed the other but he was also impressed. he was even more pissed at himself for falling for such a simple trick, he wasn't gonna hit them yet partly because he still hadn't regained full use of his body.

the transfer took almost twenty petals o complete and by that time Aero could move once more the first thing he did was try and slap his provider. they moved out of the way, smiling the entire time. "you should sleep the power will settle by the time you wake up, and then I will tell you about the responsibility of the lord, and one final thing my call me prejudice!" with that they disappeared leaving Aero alone in his room.

"I'm gonna kick their ass one day!" then he grabbed his quilt and curled up under it. he was asleep within minutes off to the realm of Onna the zaltses of slumber, he dreamed of dancing colors and sounds. when 13 flowers passed he worked up and rolled off his bed before crawling toward his crutch and standing. after doing the stretches his doctor instructed him to do he went for his first meal, he could have it brought to him but he saw pity and concern in their eyes.

the pity set him off and he admits to overreacting but just because he couldn't walk didn't mean he deserved pity."ow! ow! ow!" his leg was hurt something strong right now, stopping he leaned against the wall to rest it.' how can I get to the mess hall?' it was a bit far and he didn't take his pain slime yet so he was feeling the full force of his injury.

"would you like some assistance?" Aero looked up at the nurse and growled at her, she was taken back for a moment before trying to help again. snapping his teeth at her he would have walked away if he hadn't almost fallen from his leg giving out under him, he managed to catch himself but the nurse had grabbed him by the waist a moment later. for a moment there was silence before told her to get off she did if only to avoid getting his with his crutch that he had raise.

she back up outside his sticking range but stayed close enough to assist if need. Aero decide that she didn't exist before counting his way to first meal, he was able to make it this time and blended in with the crowd. grabbing his jell, a mix of vegetables and meat what kind he didn't know Aero found a spot where he could eat alone. bitting into the jell he marveled at the texture, it was great but his mother's was still better.

it took several bit bite before he cleaned his plate, he didn't move from his spot until he was sure that his meal had settled in his stomach not wanting it to come back up. returning the plate he started the trackback to his room, it wasn't easier than the walk from his room.

back back on his bed, he prepared to sleep, "good moring young lord!" right he forgot about them." prejudice right?" he kept his gaze on the ceiling, they only laughed before crossing their legs and floating mid-air. "the main job of the lord is to keep the beast inside its cage, their cages can only be broken from the outside so they try and influence those outside it." aero felt the air shimmer with energy one, it wasn't the kind his race fought with." the best way to do this is to deal with the energy that is created by pride."  the Grine sat up this energy felt like the power he received last night except a hundred time more.

"there a three good ways to deal with this energy, destroy the source, absorbed it, or disperse it!" the pride energy was becoming dense the more prejudice talked, "so which path will you choose? how will you deal with the prideful energy of your race and beyond?"

the curtain door was pulled open, the doctor was here to give aero his medicine. "well how are you doing this fine morning?"

"My leg hurt like usual!" he told her eyes snapping between her and prejudice who was currently sitting on the ceiling.

"well let's fix that!" with much more gentleness than needed the doctor removed his bandages, under them was his cracked leg excoskelten and under it a femur with a hairline fracture. the doctor felt the wound and judge his reaction, something he had to let show to his displeasure. but she said it was healing well and he could lose the crutch in about two weeks if he was smart." I am smart!" he declared as she rewrapped the leg.

"yes a very smart boy you are!" she reassured him handing him his pain medicine, a small ball of jelly. he took the sweet-tasting thing and swallow in one. she congratulated him on not fighting her today before making a retreat, but not before promising to return in a few hours with another dose of medice.

"What a nice woman!" prejudice floated down "now did you think about my question?"

"I'll do what I want!" he told them plainly. he didn't expect them to laugh but he did expect his anger at the lighter.

"don't worry I'm not laughing at you it just the other lords of sin said something similar, they all wish to do things their way? but that doesn't bother me in fact I can't way to see how you do things aero!"

the sin of pride, the sin of self-confidence. it was something Aero possed for many years, many people said he should swallow it and he said fuck you. now after having to swallow it for the first time in his life some weirdo had appeared.

*TEACHER REPORT:
GOODWITCH - Laura is a student who rivals Pyrrha Nykos in combat ability, and Weiss Schnee in grace. Her fighting style focuses on fluttering just outside her opponents reach, until they expose a weakness for her to attack. This tactic is further accomplished through discrete application of Laura's semblance. I've noted she uses it to briefly slow an opponent, just enough to make an attack miss.
PORT - Ms. Izuna is one of the greatest students to have attended my class during my entire career at Beacon. No matter how long the lesson goes, she always remains engaged in the content. The papers she's submitted on the study of Grimm have been nothing short of flawless. Were I to name one flaw, it would be the amount of attention she pays to Raishun since his return.
OOBLECK - Ms. Izuna has yet to provide an incorrect answer to any of my questions. Her test scores are perfect, as is her homework. It is my strong belief that she studies class material a week in advance. She has consistently displayed leadership qualities. Never once has she failed to assist a classmate with a complex concept.

*WEAPON INFO:
PRIDE & PREJUDICE - A unique pair of single-edged blades. One of the blades is black in color (Prejudice) and the other is white. J felt all her blood crept up to her face. She looked at the dishes that Madam Kelly prepared. It consists mainly of leafy vegetables, legumes, fish, meat and eggs. These foods boost fertility, Madam Kelly sure knows her thing. J thought.

After they had their lunch, Madam Kelly and Chairman John went up to their bedroom to take an afternoon nap. J was left in the family room.

 After a couple of minutes, Jacob walked in the family room with a couple of books in his hands. 

"I noticed that you liked reading classic novels. I got a couple here from the library, but I am not sure if you have read any of this. You should take a look. If you have already read them, I'll find another one for you." Jacob said with a smile standing in front of her.

J was sitting on the sofa so she has to tilt her head upwards to look at Jacob. Her face becomes gentle realizing how Jacob take his time to notice her habit of reading and what kind of books she prefers to read. She reached for the books before saying 'Thank you' to Jacob.

Jacob sits beside her and grab for the remote control of the flat-screen TV and turned it on. Madam Kelly already insisted on them to stay overnight and they complied.  Without anything to do this afternoon, Jacob decided to watch a movie while he searched for books for J to read.

J looked at the books that Jacob brought her. Jacob was right, they were all classic novels from Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Alexander Dumas, Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, and Bram Stoker. She has already read all these books that Jacob brought her. But to avoid disturbing Jacob from watching, she didn't tell him. Instead, she chose Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, which she has read a couple of times.  Jane Austen is her favorite author and she has a collection of all of her six books. Among them, Pride and Prejudice is her favorite. It is a romantic novel about two lovers whom before had their happy ending have to conquer their pride and prejudices against each other.

J had even memorized the authors opening line, 'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.' Thou she finds it ironic, as these days those man with a good fortune would rather stay single to enjoy their liberty. Just like how Jacob and J were before they met.

After half an hour reading with her back leaning on the backrest of the sofa and her feet on her front closed to each other, J felt a little bit stiff so she stretched her back and neck. 

"If you're feeling a little stiff you can change your position. How about you raise your feet on the sofa?" Jacob said with a worried look.

When he receives no response, Jacob got off his seat and kneel in front of J.

"What are you doing?" J asked with a surprised look.

Jacob didn't answer her instead, he took off her slippers and raised her feet on the sofa with her knees pointing on one side. Then he returned to sit beside her.

Due to her position, her body is now leaning to Jacob's body and her knees were now touching Jacob's hips. J gazed at him. "Feels better, right?" Jacob said smiling when he caught her gazing at him.

At the age of 10, J's parents died in an ambush leaving her in the care of her grandfather who years later sent her away along with her best friend to hide her and her identity from those who would try to kill her after her parents.

20 years past, a lot of things had already happened. Her dearest grandfather died, she came back to Lotus City, and was secretly married!

She was married off by her grandfather to his best friend's grandson before he died and she was oblivious about it.
