I went to the desk which was assigned to me, and I looked around and my eyes widened at the sight. Lairone was sitting beside my desk. He looked around as well and he saw me and gave me a smile.
"Ah, they youngster with big dreams. I hate to break it to you, but trash does not belong in the spotlight, so, why don't you run along now and go home? Stop trying hard, you won't make the cut kid." Lairone said as he smiled and looked towards the crowd.
I could feel my heart shattering by the words he said. I took deep breathes and remembered what Ms. Veronica said. I need to learn to turn the voices of discouragement into voices of encouragement. I kept taking deep breathes and doing what Ms. Veronica told me to do, and it worked. I didn't feel discouraged anymore.
A few minutes went by and the competition started. They welcomed the judges and participants and said the rules. They handed out notebooks and pens to the participants to write their stories. They said a few more things to help build the suspense, which was not needed if you ask me.
And with everything has been said and done, they have officially started the competition. I grabbed the pen and started writing as fast as I can. My hands were shaking because this was my first competition, and the thought of I will lose my job if I lose doesn't help in making my hand stop shaking.
I kept writing down what comes to my mind. Ms. Veronica said the best way to win is to just write down whatever comes to my mind and to make the chapters short but not too short where it doesn't count as a chapter.
45 minutes passed by and Lairone finished first, shortly after the other participants submitted their works.
There's only 5 minutes which is left on the clock and I am now down to my last 2 chapters. Not long and they started counting down.

In just a nick of time, I managed to finish my work and submit it. As I stood up, I saw that I was the only one left on the stage, the other participants already went back stage.  Participants were asked to go to the back stage once they were done with their stories to avoid confusion and to make it look clean. I don't know why but those were the rules.
After everyone submitted their works, we were told to wait with our mentors as the judges make a decision on who won. I went out and I joined Ms. Veronica as we waited for the results. It was a nerve-racking wait, my hands were getting cold the more we wait for the results.
Hours went by and it was time for them to announce the winner. This is it. They called the participants to the back stage. They said lots of things so they can build up suspense before they announced the winners.
"Okay, that should be enough suspense now. Now, for what everyone waited for, the winner, of this year's Annual Write-Off, is! Lairone Declamonte!"
Small fireworks went off around the stage as Lairone's name was called. Everyone cheered and clapped. Well, I'm not a sore loser so, I cheered and congratulated him.
"Better luck next time kid, when your stories aren't trash, maybe you can win a competition." Lairone said to me as he walked out towards the stage.
I let out a sigh as I went out of the back stage and went to where Ms. Veronica was.
"I'm sorry I didn't win Ms. Veronica. I'm sorry I broke your winning streak." I said as I took of my ID and I gave it to her.
"What are you doing?" She asked as she looked at my ID.
"I'm giving it to you, I thought you said that you will fire me if I lost?"
"Oh that, I was just messing around Kiddo, it didn't matter if you won or lose, well, it could've been better if you won and saved my win streak, but I am proud of you either way. You did your best and that's what mattered." Ms. Veronica said as she took my ID and made me wore it.
I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.
As we were talking, someone in a black suit walked up to us and congratulated me.
"Congratulations kid."
"Oh, uhmm, thanks? I guess?"
As I was talking with the man, Ms. Veronica was slightly giggling. I looked at her and she smiled.
"Kurt, this is Mr. Bossly, he's the CEO of the company and he's my boss. He was the man who approved you to work for us without an interview."
My eyes widened as I looked at the man.
"That's true, Ms. Veronica here approached me about your story. I read it and I was amazed by it, it's Daily Publisher material I said to myself. There is no need to have an interview withy you."
"I don't know what to say, I'm flattered, thank you." I said as I smiled at him.
"Say, how would you like it if I published your story right away? I was meaning to ask you for a long time now, but since I can't catch you, I can't ask you in person. Normally before a story gets published, it takes months before I can approve them. What do you say?"
I looked at Ms. Veronica because I don't know what to say. I was so happy that I couldn't decide on my own. Ms. Veronica smiled as she nodded. I smiled back and I said yes. Mr. Bossly and I shook hands and he started printing my story.
After they were published, they were put up on the shelves of every bookstore you could think of. A week or two after my story was published and were put on in stores, my books started flying off of the shelves.  And just like that, another prodigy is born, and the rest is history.
And with that, I'll end this here story with this.
Don't be discouraged about the things people are saying, use the discouragement as encouragement to keep getting better, never let people tell you what you can and can't do. You may start small with a rigid path, but be patient and you'll be in the middle of the spotlight soon. Keep going! Don't give up!

          Lance, who sat next to me whenever Ms. Silvenda changed the classroom with the illusions, passed me the test packet and I thanked him as I picked my pencil up, ready for anything this test had to throw at me. I had crammed all my studying into the night before because... well, there wasn't really a good reason. I was just busy the rest of the week. That meaning, I had spent all my time in the library reading up on the best romance novels in the magical world. Trust me, there was plenty. Ms. Silvenda was about to start the one-hour timer, but someone raised their hand.
          "Ms. Silvenda, I have a question," Kayhari spoke out.
          "Yes, Kayhari?" answered Ms. Silvenda.
          "I was wondering if we could all go to the festival in Wisteria on Saturday for a field trip. It's celebrating Spirits and I thought it would fit with what we are learning about this week!" Kayhari lit up as she announced her idea.
          "Really, Kayhari that's a great idea!" Ms. Silvenda lit up as well and everyone perked up at the idea. "If everyone passes, we can all go."
          "What?" Samm groaned and the others followed, except for Kai, of course.
          "Well, that gives everyone all the more reason to pass," she clicked her stop watch. "Go!"
          I almost shrieked and turned back to the paper on my desk, writing my name at the top. I then read the first question.

          Searching my brain for information, I put down the answer.

          I started to doze off about the festival. I was grounded until that day, which meant I could go. Then I shook off my thoughts and tried to pass, so I could go. I wasn't a big social person, but I felt like every moment I miss in this world is a moment that can never be made up. It was odd to me because I didn't like parties and social events. So, when I told mom that I wanted to go to a sleepover the week before, she flipped out and urged me to go.
          Then I thought about Kai. He was definitely going, especially if Kayhari, Lance and I were going as well. It was always fun to hang out with Kai, even if he was too dense to get half of what normal teenagers talk about. Then I looked at the clock. I had time, so I got back to work.
          The stop watch went off and everyone dropped their pencils. I had just finished the last question in the nick of time and I sighed in relief, for there has never been a closer call. Ms. Silvenda picked up all the papers and sat at her desk, glancing at the clock before she started grading the first packet. She took a quill and dipped it in the ink container. Her hands worked, crossing out and circling things, writing the points earned at the top before setting it down in a pile next to the ungraded tests.
          She continued as the silent suspense killed everyone. Every sheet of paper, every drop of ink, every breath all because we wanted to take the field trip. There was an atmosphere in the classroom that had never been there before. Apparently, festivals are the best things in the magical world if everyone worked so hard to go. The only one that seemed calm was Kai, because there was an existed grin plastered on his face, like this was the best day of his life. A few minutes of suspense later, Ms. Silvenda stood up and handed out the freshly graded test.
          She got to me and I closed my eyes, blindly taking to paper held out in front of me. I opened my left eye and glanced over the front page.
          "78%," I whispered to myself. I had barely passed the test, meaning I could still go to the festival with everyone else. Smiling, I showed Lance who was looking over his answers. "Woah, you got a 100?"
          "Yeah, and thanks for not failing," Lance thanked me.
          "Why are you thanking me for that?" I asked the obvious question that went with his odd comment.
          "If you weren't coming, then I would be stuck alone with the fire hazer and the other one," he remarked, looking over at me. He was right, it would have been a disaster.
          "Hey, if Kayhari decides to split up or something like that, can I go with Kai?" I asked.
          "What? I'm not getting stuck with her again. Remember what happened at the cave?" Lance started to get mad. "No, no, no. Not going to happen."
          "Please," I begged. "Please just give me this."
          He gave a look. "Give me one good reason."
          "If Kai burns down something at the festival, I will probably be the other person responsible," I pointed out.
          "You make a fair point," he said, giving in. I celebrated my victory on the inside. It's not that I didn't like Kayhari, I just wanted to time with Kai. Plus, Lance could keep Kayhari out of trouble for a little while.

After Lily finds her way back into the magical world, she is faced with the new transfer student of class M-5...

A week after Sarah sprained her ankle, the school coach was conducting tryouts to represent the boys and girls of Queen Charlotte. There were 150 students for the trials, out of which 110 were eliminated. With all her hard work and dedication, Sarah managed to in the top 40 racers for the final tryouts. And only one boy and girl would be elected. Sarah's ankle finally healed. She believed that the tryouts wouldn't be as exceptional as she hoped considering that she scarcely attended any coaching sessions.

But that didn't hold her even for an instant. She wanted to prove herself, the school, her companions and especially Aiden. The day that everyone was anticipating for had finally arrived. Sarah's companions were the first people to appear in the field for trials. They worked hard all night to design posters to boost her confidence and spirit. Shortly, everyone attained to the ground to witness the event. The audience was desperate with excitement. They couldn't wait to see the elected boy and girl. Of course! Anyone could be excited! Sarah took her position on the tracks feeling the excitement in the air, as well as the nervousness generating from her body. Sarah rose her head and looked ahead with sweat dripping from her head. All her thoughts were racing in mind. 'WHAT IF I DON'T WIN? IF I DON'T WIN MY FRIENDS WILL BE CRUSHED!' The gun pointed up in the air, Sarah didn't seem ready. She said to herself, "Oh my god! I cannot handle this pressure. It's just too much!" But then again she remembered her motive and reassured herself. Soon enough, the bullet fired! Olivia, Mavis, and Pauline held hands and closed their eyes. After they opened them, they were shocked to see who was in the lead. It was none other than Sarah! She ran like the next Usain Bolt, sprinting ahead of the other racers. Her ankle didn't completely heal. The pain deteriorated.

She still tried her best to complete the race at one stretch but failed. She twisted her ankle and fell again. The audience gasped and started murmuring. Suddenly she looked up to see Aiden by the stands. He looked at her, his eyes filled with tears. He shouted, "Come on, Sarah! Get up!" Sarah's friends turned around to see who it was. They exchanged glances, stood up, and screamed together with Aiden, "Get up, Sarah!" Sarah's eyes filled with the fury rage of confidence. Within a few seconds, she started to run again! But because of her fall, she was second in the race. But Sarah remembered what Aiden and her friends said, and increased her speed. In no time, Sarah and the other girl were neck-to-neck. Both of them were equally close to the finish line.

Olivia buried her face with her hands and said, "I cannot see, this anymore!" As both of them were near the finish line, the ground filled with silence. It appeared that they reached the finish line at the same time. The event organizers had cameras located at every corner of the field. After a few minutes, they were going to announce the winner. Sarah closed her eyes and hoped for the best. But she didn't worry about the results. She performed better than she expected. The organizers announced together, "And the winner is...." They wanted suspense, or else the event was no fun. But Olivia lost her patience and yelled, "Cut out the suspense and tell us already!" The organizers exchanged a glance and spoke together, "Sarah Sanchez!" Sarah's eyes welled with tears of happiness. At that moment, Sarah and Aiden looked at each other with tears filled in their eyes. They felt something that day that they never felt before. When she looked over at the stands, she noticed that her companions were missing! Aiden walked up to her and wanted to congratulate her. But nothing came out from his mouth. He grinned and looked at her in the eyes. Sarah was doing the same until she heard the coach barking at some students. It was none other than her companions! They were dancing in the VIP section of the audience seats!

Even though Sarah easily won first place in the provincial tournament, the tryouts were more memorable for her. She spent the next few months on her training, participating in competitions and won nearly all of them. Sarah loved spending time with her friends more than ever. The moment she felt that her life was complete, the year was almost about to end.

The book is about four friends who have graduated from Queen Charlotte Junior High, have taken their seats on a jet and all set to fly and vanquish the hurdles that high school launches at them. Friendship will break, hearts will crack, love will be found, and career decisions will be made. These school years will transform their lives forever.

Lin Shuya got a bad shock and hastily retracted her hands. She looked awkward and terrified.

My Opinion:
This is one of the best novels I have ever read, it is so exciting that you read from beginning to end without wanting to stop. Action, adventure, comedy, suspense, everything was put in the right measure. I strongly recommend this novel to everyone. Best of all, this novel has its own manhwa, where you can see the story from another point, but I still recommend reading the novel first.
