When I was six, a nurse called out to my mother and asked to sign a book. That year, I came to realise that my mother is a famous literary author. 

"I want to read your books." I whined. 

"It's not as exciting as the stories you tell me." My mother smiled. 

When I was eight, I 'borrowed' my mother's books from nurse to read. That year, I came to realise that my mother is an amazing author. 

"Where did you get that?" My mother asked in surprise, recognising the book I borrowed. 

"I borrowed it from a nurse. Do you have anymore books I can read?" I asked using my all powerful superpower, sad puppy eyes.

"I do. But promise me that you will return that 'borrowed' book and apologise to the nurse?" My mother sighed helplessly. 

"Okay." I happily agreed despite being seen through. 

When I was nine, I finished reading all of my mother's works. That year, I came to realise how important I was in her heart. 

"That's because the female protagonists you write are always so brave and incredible! They're the best." I said when she found me hugging a romance novel she first published under a pen name. 

"Silly child. You're wrong. No matter how brave and incredible my characters are, they are only fictional. You are real. Remember. You are the bravest and most incredible person there is. To me, you are the best." My mother said as she began playing with my cheeks. 

When I was ten, I asked my mother if I could be the female protagonist in her next book. That year, my mother said she is retiring as an author to become an editor due to writers block.

"It's only for a little while. I'll write again soon." My mother comforted the crying me. 

"Really?" I asked.

"Really. I want to write the best book I can and have you read it first." She said with a sparkle of certainty in her eyes. 

On my 20th birthday, my mother published her newest work after a ten year hiatus. After being given a very special reading by the author herself, I realised why my mother took ten years to write this novel. 

"I want to read it." I said, surrounded by my family. 

"How about this, I'll read it to you. It's been a long time since I've told you a story." My mother pretended, not knowing I could see the obvious tear stain on her face. 

My mother then read it to me. She was by my side everyday, reading 'There Is Sweetness Within Bitterness, That Is Happiness'. When she couldn't read anymore, my father came. When he couldn't read, my brother came. Then on the last day, my mother finished the last page. 

But unfortunately. I was too tired to hear the ending.

“Lan’er. Didn’t you already read that?” Her mother asked, pointing to her newest novel in her hands. 

“That’s because the female protagonists you write are always so brave and incredible! They’re the best.” Huang Yue Lan proudly spoke.

Her mother reached towards her and lightly pinched her cheeks before shaking her head. “Silly child. You’re wrong. No matter how brave and incredible my characters are, they are only fictional. You are real. Remember. You are the bravest and most incredible person there is. To me, you are the best.”

Years later, surrounded by her family on her deathbed Yue Lan pointed at a book by her bedside. 

“Is that your newest book?” She asked softly. 

Her mother nodded and grabbed the book, ‘There Is Sweetness Within Bitterness, That Is Happiness’. 

“I want to read it.” She declared.

“How about this, I’ll read it to you. It’s been a long time since I’ve told you a story.” Her mother said with a forced smile. 

Yue Lan was too tired to argue so she simply nodded. She listened as her mother told her the story until the very end. Leaving with a smile on her face. 

In death, she received her second chance at life. In the world her mother created. In the world of ‘There Is Sweetness Within Bitterness, That Is Happiness’.

We went inside Dal.Komm Coffee café, it's my favorite café and basically I come here when I have a fight or arguments with my mum or dad due to regular issues. I come here and write songs.

This is one of the place where I feel peace at it's level; because no one bothers me here or nags me for what I do.

We ordered coffee. Our order came in no time. And while looking at the coffee; I was staring at her too. Until she broke the ice, "Ahh...Am I not weird for not asking your name till now?"

"Basically, no. you're not weird." And I smiled at her.

"I'm always a curious bird. I'm Jeon Sihyun. Nice to meet you." And she again smiled;

"I'm Han Min. Nice to meet you too." She was still smiling genuinely at me. "So... Sihyun; let's discover each other. Discovering each other will be fun. Even though we met today, yet I wanna know you more; cause it seems fun discovering each other."

"Sure, why not. So... Min. I'm here on a break cause... honestly I'm fed up. Like... everyone in my family keeps on saying that I shouldn't waste my time on books and dancing. But all of my happiest moments are related with books; even when I write or read and when I dance or write songs. I wanted a pause so that I will discover myself and start working on what I love. So, here I am to spend some days without letting anyone know and that's the reason I need to return tomorrow only." I let her complete, I didn't wanted myself to interrupt her; she was looking a bit sad earlier while saying but when she mentioned books and dance she smiled; this shows how much she loves Dance and books.

Who doesn't like books? They are interesting and lets us escape from this cruel world.

"So, you write books? And even lyrics? You're damn talented Sihyun" I asked her.

"Nothing like that Min," she was smiling shyly. Her shy smile was cute  "I do write books and lyrics.. like; it's like I wanna comfort everyone with my songs. I want that whenever anyone listens to my song; that person will be feel comforted and will appreciate his existence. " Her purposes of writing songs made me curious about her more; and books too. 

"What kinds of songs do you write and which genre books do you like?" I asked again like a curious bunny.

"You won't laugh? even if I say my weird fantasies?" I nodded as a reply

"I love fantasy and romance basically, I write books keeping the theme as fantasy and romance like how life changes when a girl meets her soulmate. And about lyrics; I do write lyrics about love and pain. And recently, I've been writing about how a girl overcame her breakup and started relying on a boy and that boy loves her; that helps people to have the hope of love in life. While writing I never think whether people will appreciate me or hate me for my works yet I love writing cause I think maybe in life I'll get someone who will appreciate me one day" she said with a mixed feelings. Somewhere I feel both of us are going through somewhat same situations. "So, Min, what's your hobby?" she asked me with her curious looking eyes.

"I read books and play guitar and even sometimes when I feel fed up I start writing songs and with the help of my hyungs I compose songs too. But books and lyrics comes first above everything. But all of these things seems useless infront of my parents but I love doing all these things. I love music because MUSIC HEALS." I heaved a sigh. and she started sipping her drink.

"That's actually great; you know Min. But don't worry, I understand how you feel" she said while sipping her cappuccino. I looked outside and it was nearly evening and she followed my gaze and also looked outside and when I saw her she was AWE-STUCK. I bet she had fallen in love with Busan beauty. And looking at her like this I came up of an idea.

"It's nearly evening, the sun must be kissing the sea; watching the sun kissing the sea; and that kiss is always worth; and the beach side is the best during this time as well. So, Let's go Sihyun." Hearing this she hurriedly completed her drink and both of us got up. 

We went to counter to pay and I paid. I'm a regular customer her so basically the workers know me very well. They are more like my acquaintance. While paying; the guy at the counter named as 'Yohan' smiled at us and said, "Hey Min, dude you finally came here with a girl. Is she your girlfriend?" 

"Aniyo!" I protested him. I saw both of us were smiling and Sihyun looking down and blushing; her cheeks flashed a cute pink tint. Again Yohan said "But both of you do look!" 
And then he approached Sihyun "You know, Min never brought a girl with him. You're the first one and you should feel honored." and smiled. Eventually Sihyun started laughing and I felt embarrassed.

"Enough Yohan. Bye" I said and we left the café. Sihyun was walking infront of me.

"Mass is not proportional to volume.
A girl as small as violet... a girl who moves like a flower petal...
Is pulling me toward her with more force than her mass.
Just then, like Newton's apple, I rolled towards us without stopping until I fell on her with a thump.'

Something was going on my mind and I wanted to say it and I was about to call Sihyun and say but then I thought it would be better if I let it out. So, I did, "Sihyun, will you be my girlfriend?" and she looked back at me with a smile on her face.

"I hope I can be with you for just one day."	

It's a story of a boy and how he met a girl for the first time and wanted to spend the first and last day with her. Something was there between... them. They had somewhat similar story; they shared the same taste in books, music. Even though they met for the first time and the feelings were new to them yet they felt each other very comfortable.
After they spend their first and last day... will they meet ever again? Or their fate has decided something else?

Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

Just wanted to let you guys know about my current situation.

First of all, I am glad that you guys are able to enjoy this book, and so am I to see your reactions to every chapter. My initial aim when starting this book was not to create the best fan-fiction. That's right. I never intended to create this book in the first place.

You see guys, I am a lazy bum in the real world, and pretty much a loser when seen in current society. I am an introvert who barely makes friends and spend all my time watching anime, tv shows, movies etc in various different languages. I also read manga, light novels, cultivation novels. However, I have never even bothered to read fan-fictions (a shame really!).
I am a quitter, when it comes to doing work!
I pretty much lose interest in whatever I start in the matter of minutes or within one or two days.
Back in my school days, I would write books or potential new anime plots all by myself and show them off to friends. They would ridicule me at times, later on, they never bothered as final exams came up...

Before I started this book, I had a month off from Uni, during December holidays. While everyone in the hostel I live travelled back to their hometowns, I lived all alone.
I thought, why not write a book on this website for fun. (I did not realize inkstone existed, nor was I aware of originals book section.)

I initially wanted to write an original, for fun. So I started browsing around for a few guidelines on how to start a book and what books were trending.
Funny thing is this website tends to have quite a lot of those I accidentally married a CEO books.
I am like, really? I who had no experience in romance had to write this kind of a genre (to try and attract crowd...)

Hmm? What's this?
I came across a book written by webnovel authors. a guideline book for starting out with a new novel on this website.

I read across a few guidelines to start a new story.
The first point I came across was, to start as an author, it would be better to gain experience by starting to write a fan fiction.

I am like, that's a great idea...
And the first thought was for me to write Naruto, since I was kinda missing it since the show ended and went on with the boruto series.

I read a lot of reincarnation novels, with tales of demons and gods concept being one of my favorites. So, I was like, why not send Naruto back into the past, this time instead of a book, I would use something related to Otsutsuki clan as a base to send Naruto back.

And bam! I ended up starting this book on the evening of 22nd of December 2018.

Back then, my aim was to test my will power to stick to a promise I made to myself. I will not quit until I finish the first book of the story ie. the Early Naruto timeline.

And here we are today!

So that's the story behind starting this book.

I want you all to know, that as much as I would like to spend every spare moment I have to update this book. I am being burdened by duties in real life.

Ever since the day I started this book, I have been working myself to the bone to turn myself into a better person than the person I was yesterday.

Recently, I have been frustrated with all my piling up work in real life, and some new routines I have started like jogging 5km in the morning, and now I am kind of poor as well...

So author-san here is looking for a part-time job now.

So here's how my day goes (at least this is how it looks on weekdays.)

Get up

Go jogging

Get ready

Go Uni

Come Back

Cook

Eat

Finish Work (HW and projects)

Type a chapter

Wait a few mins to read comments

Go to sleep.

Repeat.

I barely eat once a day and pretty much occupied with the rest of the day.

Despite this, I have been doing research and work day and night to improve my skill and interact with you guys.

The most funniest fact is despite all the work I do, I still seem like a jobless guy on the surface.

If you guys have been counting, despite promising to upload 7 chapters a week, I do manage to add in extra chapters here and then, for ex. the recent week had nine chapters in total.

I write with the flow, and the new chapters are taking up quite the toll on me since everything from the last few chapters have all been original, as you all may have noticed.

Especially the last four or five chapters took almost twice the time as usual, (close to 4 hours to come up with ideas and type.)

Now, if I do get a part-time job, I will still do my best to keep up with the regular updates.

But all I ask for you guys, is to be patient.

I as the author am not able to read my book with enthusiasm like you guys since I already know what's going to happen, so despite all the fun you guys have, I don't really get the same reaction on my side. It's like I am a deaf person who reads lips and understand what you guys are saying, at least that's how it feels to be as an author, which is why I read your comments.

I hope I have been able to provide you guys with the same experience you get like you used to watch the anime, where there are scene changes, POV changes and you get to see a bit of everyone's POV here and there.

Once again I want everyone to appreciate the fact that the work that all the original authors do are free and are not really pushed by money like many other novels, except in very little cases where the chapters are being supported on *******.

I've a news for you. You were right, someone from the Ministry is manipulating Fudge. But I still don't know who's this person. Don't think, I'm not trying. Fudge meets so many people everyday, it's hard to keep track, but, now I'm sure it is someone from his inner circle. 
Well, now Fudge is in full swing, after he heard Harry Potter had broke underage magic law, using advance magic outside the school. He wants to expel our Harry Potter at any cost. He was trying to convince Madam Amelia Bones yesterday, when she got Harry Potter's trial. Fudge is analysing Harry's character every chance he gets in front of the Ministry employees. Things are not looking good for Harry. Fudge is also planning to stop Dumbledore from helping Harry. I'll tell you if I know what is his plan.

Chris burned the letter after Ginny and Hermione finished reading it. 
"Chris, who's this Attractive Savage Queen?" Ginny asked, looking shocked for few moments.
"Take a wild guess." Chris said. Ginny and Hermione stared at her for few moments and Chris sighed. "It's Rita."
"What!" Hermione almost shouted.
"Shhh." Chris pulled Hermione back to sit beside her. "Don't scream."
"Sorry." Hermione whispered. "Rita? You mean Rita Skeeter?"
"The one and only." Chris smiled.
"So why's she helping you?" Ginny said skeptically.
"Oh, she is not helping." Chris replied. "I forced her into this. In return she can write on Daily Prophet but not about me or Harry."
"That's why she haven't wrote anything about You-Know-Who and you two?" Hermione said. "I thought that's because you threatened to expose her. She don't deserve to be a reporter, considering how much lie she spreads."
"I know, but you see Hermione, if you snatch everything from someone and asked them to work for you, then they'll change sides as soon as they get a chance." Chris said smiling. "I don't want that. I know Skeeter is a horrible woman and I also know if I suppress her now, in future she'll do everything to destroy me. So why make such enemy when there's a another option."
Ginny sighed. Then after few minutes of silence she cleared her throat.
"So, how are we going to solve the Harry problem?" 
"Hmm.. This Madam Amelia Bones. Do you think she's related to Colin's Susan Bones?" Chris said.
"Maybe. I think yes." Ginny replied confidently.
"Then let's write a letter to Colin." Chris said. "Let's see if he can talk to Susan about Harry."
"Alright."
The next day also went by cleaning and throwing things. Sirius came for Dinner that day. Mrs. Weasley asked Sirius to go through the things they were going to throw out, but he refused and asked them to throw them anyway, he didn't mind. Kreacher pretend to help, so he can go through the things but Sirius ordered Kreacher not to. Crying, banging his head repeated times, Kreacher left the room. Hermione snapped at Sirius many times for this but Sirius merely shrugged his shoulder and went back to Little Whinging... to Harry.
Next afternoon, Chris, Ginny and Hermione were reading books in the Black family library. Hermione almost jumped up and down in happiness when Ginny and Chris showed her the library the previous day. But soon she looked a little skeptical, as she realized those were dark arts books. Luckily Ginny used Hermione's greed of reading books, to convince her and it worked.
"Chris, come here for a second." Ginny called, while looking for new books.
"Yup." Chris replied.
"I found something weird." Ginny said, showing her a paper. "This letter was inside this book. I accidentally knocked over few books and saw this book, it was well hidden in a corner of the shelf."
Chris saw the book name, 'The Origin of Magic.' Then she took the letter from Ginny.
Dear Regulus,

I know, you do not want any connections with me. So I am not asking you to write back. In fact, this is my last letter. I will not disturb you anymore and I will not force you to do anything against your mother or your family believes.

You are very different from the other pure-bloods Regulus, please, do not let that blood status define you. You are Regulus Arcturus Black, the Slytherin boy, best in every subject in school, the best Slytherin Seeker, the best Prefect and a friend of this stupid Hufflepuff girl, who can't even fly on broomstick. 
We have our N.E.W.T.s coming up next year, Regulus. I know you will achieve Outstanding in every subject. Then you can be a Spell crafter and Potion genius, like you always wanted. You have a great life ahead Regulus and you know it. 
I know your mother is very close to the Dark Lord, I guess she is indirectly forcing you to join Him. I am begging you Regulus, stop this before it is too late. You are not a Death Eater. "Regulus Arcturus Black. I saw this name on the tapestry." Hermione said after reading the letter.
"Do you think we should ask Sirius about this?" Ginny said. "I really want to know who's this person and what happened to him after he got this letter."
"We can ask, only if he comes back from Private Drive." Chris replied.
"I think we shouldn't mention the letter." Hermione said. "I mean it looks a little personal."
"I agree." Ginny nodded.
"I've no problem." Chris said. "It just... if this Regulus Arcturus Black was so good at heart, then why did he join Riddle in the first place?"
"No idea."

"A what?"

Red Boy, Monkey, and Squirrel stood by the door to Fangzheng's meditation room as they looked at him in curiosity. They were filled with questions and puzzlement. What had just happened?
Fangzheng ignored what was on their minds and after he charged into the meditation room, he opened the Sutra Cabinet and saw a brand new book inside! On its blue cover were written a couple of words with a forceful flair: The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra!
When Fangzheng saw this, he raised his head and laughed out maniacally.
At that moment, Red Boy and Squirrel walked over furtively. When they saw Fangzheng hug a thin book while laughing unceasingly, they exchanged looks, completely lost at his behavior.
Red Boy could not help but ask, "Master, why are you laughing while holding that tiny book? Is that from the island nation?"
Fangzheng rolled his eyes and struck him violently. "Don't speak nonsense when you aren't sure about things. This is no ordinary item. It's a sutra book!"
Squirrel immediately zoomed on top of Fangzheng's shoulder when he heard that. Then, he followed the arm and came to Fangzheng's hand. He touched The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra and asked curiously, "Master, isn't this sutra book too thin? How many words can there be in it?"
Fangzheng laughed. "This book is indeed thin. As for words, there aren't many. There's only 260 words."
"Ah? So few?" Squirrel and Red Boy exclaimed in unison.
Fangzheng said, "Be content. Although The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra is short, it's precious! In Tibetan Buddhism, there is this sentence: 'Buddha said that among the 84,000 Dharma, The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra is the most special.' That means that the standing of these 260 words in Buddhist literature is as transcendent as that of the Diamond Sutra. To put it simply, it has the core essence among all the Dharma! Many monks can spend their entire lives studying just this sutra and can still achieve a lot. However, most monasteries use it as the most basic sutra for beginners."
Only when Red Boy and Squirrel heard that did they understand the value of the thin book. Immediately, their curiosity was piqued. What exactly was written in it that with just two hundred plus words, it was able to be a head above the rest? Also, no matter how awesome it was, it was ultimately a beginner's book. Was there a need to be that happy?
Fangzheng could not be bothered with them. There were numerous Buddhist scriptures, each having multiple volumes. Even if people were poor their entire lives, it was unlikely they could finish reading all of them. Since it was impossible to finish reading them, understanding the core essence of all the scriptures became the simplest and most efficient way of studying. By fully internalizing the core before reading other scriptures, one could gain insights at a far superior speed by drawing analogies.
This was just like for the study of writing essays one first had to learn how to write in general. By learning to write simple things first before learning how to write an essay, the process was much easier. If one did not know how to write and was made to write an essay immediately, who knows what one could write…
Fangzheng had never read the Heart Sutra. He had only heard Zen Master One Finger recite it to him. Based on his impression from Zen Master One Finger, all monasteries had The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra as a beginner's book. Its name was often shortened to the Heart Sutra. Some people even said that a monk was not a real monk if he could not memorize the Heart Sutra.
Of course, such sayings were a little subjective, but one could also tell how prevalent and important the Heart Sutra was from them.
Fangzheng had memorized the Heart Sutra as well. Logically speaking, he did not need to be so excited about the Heart Sutra. However, first of all, the appearance of the Heart Sutra proved that the Sutra Cabinet could indeed produce sutra books. Secondly, Fangzheng knew very well that the sutras on Mount Numinous were different from the sutra books of his world! He also wished to see what the real Heart Sutra was like!
Fangzheng eagerly opened the Heart Sutra and flipped to the first page. He was taken aback, for the Heart Sutra was identical to the one he had memorized. 260 words, not one word less or more.
"This… System, did the Sutra Cabinet take the wrong book?"
"Ding! No. The Sutra Cabinet's function is to search the sutra information of this world before amalgamating a book. Therefore, the Heart Sutra you see is the Heart Sutra from your world. If you wish to obtain the true sutras of Mount Numinous, you must create a Sutra Repository at the very least."
Fangzheng rolled his eyes. "Are you kidding me? I remember quite clearly that you said that it would produce sutra books from Mount Numinous."
"That's right. If you were in the world where Mount Numinous is located, the amalgamated sutra books would be the sutra books you could find on Mount Numinous. But from here, it cannot cross worlds to gather information, so all it can do is produce sutra books of this world. To tear through the world barriers, you need a Sutra Repository," said the System matter-of-factly.
Fangzheng was instantly left speechless. The Heart Sutra in his hands suddenly felt lighter. He was pissed! Extremely pissed! He had been filled with so much anticipation, but this was it?
"Don't be angry. Flip to the back before you continue," the System said.
Fangzheng speechlessly flipped to the last page, and…
"Bodhidharma's explanatory notes!"
"What!?" Fangzheng's eyes widened as he continued flipping through the back.
"Shenxiu's explanatory notes!"
"Faxian's explanatory notes!"
"Kumārajīva's explanatory notes!"
… 
"System, this isn't fake right? Why are there so many notes? Also, it's such a thin book, so how can there be so many pages?" Fangzheng was truly shocked. Each page had the explanatory notes of an esteemed historical monk! The value of those notes was far greater than the Heart Sutra itself!
"Although the Sutra Cabinet is unable to cross worlds to gather information, it can gather all the information in this world and fuse that into a book. These explanatory notes were handed down in books which were written. Some appeared in history before they were lost. Some were never written and only orally transmitted. Some were thoughts in people's minds. As for why there are so many pages, do you think you humans are the only ones who can have digital books? Can't Mount Numinous have unlimited pages? How's that? Do you still feel disparagement towards the Sutra Cabinet?"
Fangzheng immediately shook his head like a rattling drum. Although he could not obtain true sutra books yet, being able to obtain the explanatory notes and insights of so many accomplished monks was better suited to him despite true sutra books being more valuable anyway. There was no such thing as the best, there was only the most suitable. When it came to comprehending the Buddhist Dharma, there were no shortcuts. It had to be taken one step at a time. Being too greedy would only swell one's stomach in discomfort. 
With the Heart Sutra, Fangzheng did not stay in the monastery. Although it was pretty quiet, there were many visitors. This still resulted in some disturbances.
Fangzheng ran to the bamboo forest behind the monastery and placed a chair on the ground. He sat down and leisurely read the Heart Sutra as well as the explanatory notes in the back. He could not help but recite,
"Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, was deep through the Perfection of Wisdom, saw clearly that the five aggregates of human existence were empty, and so released himself from suffering.
"Sariputra! Form is nothing more than emptiness, emptiness is nothing more than Form. Form is exactly emptiness, and emptiness is exactly Form. The other four aggregates of human existence—feeling, thought, will, and consciousness—are also nothing more than emptiness.
"Sariputra! All things are empty: Nothing is born, nothing dies, nothing is pure, nothing is stained, nothing increases and nothing decreases. So, in emptiness, there is no form…"


In the rural northeastern mountainous regions stands a tiny Buddhist temple, named One Finger Temple. It isn't a large one but it is extremely miraculous.

The temple has rice that emanates an aromatic fragrance.

The temple has sweet and refreshing water that rivals ambrosia.

The temple has Buddhas that grant wishes to the sincere.

The temple isn't large but it has everything. The temple isn't large but it has flourishing incense offerings that far exceed all temples. The temple isn't large but it attracts both citizens and foreigners that line up overnight…

The temple has a bald but handsome monk. Every day, he would bawl, "I want to renounce asceticism! I want to marry a chick that's not too pretty, have a cute baby, and lead a stable life!"

This book is a casual novel that introduces various Chinese traditional customs, as well as Buddhist ones. It strives to be a positive book, allowing people to reflect on how they should live their lives and treat others.

Chapter 5. The talk

"I am going to announce the winner of the essay competition now and the winner is...…"

The students kept their eyes fixed on Shiki sensei lips in anticipation. Whether they had tried or not, all contestants were probably hoping secretly that their name was called.

That was the effect an award had. Whether one had fought for it or not, he longed for it.

Ren could see that Kei was staring intently at Shiki sensei. Ren knew Kei had worked hard for the award and wished that he will get it.

"....Minami Ryuu."

Kei dropped his shoulder once it was announced that the winner was not him. He was clearly dissapointed that he wasn't able to win the award.

"Don't be so sad. It was just a competition. You can win it next time."

Rem said to Kei to console him but he didn't say anything in response. So, Ren didn't disturbed him. He knew that Kei will recover on its own.

Ren looked towards Minami Ryuu who was going towards the teacher to receive his award.

'He really is handsome.'

No matter how much Ren thought about it, Minami was someone who was handsome and he was also popular considering that several girls were cheering for him.

"Minami-kun is so handsome."

"I didn't knew he was good at essays too."

"He really is perfect."

The whole class was clapping for him and Minami just stood there with a smiling face. He was obviously happy that he won the award. 

"Oh, yes, Amano, go visit Nakai sensei in the staff room."

When the teacher called for his name, he was slightly confused but he still stood up as a basic etiquette.

"...…Me?"

"Yeah, Nakai sensei called for you. Now go."

As he was going out of the classroom, Kei whispered to him.

"Hey, did you do something?"

"I don't know."

"I don't think anything would happen. Nakai sensei isn't someone strict."

"Yeah."

Kei looked like he had already recovered. He was always quick to recover after setbacks. That's how he was able to recover from that failed confession.

Ren exited the classroom and walked towards the staff room. The whole way, he was thinking about the reason the teacher had called him for.

He was sure that he didn't have done something that the teacher will call him for. He didn't have any fights nor he had done something worth mentioning.

He was just living his unworthy high school life silently. 

'Why did Nakai sensei of all the teachers called for me?'

He was more confused as to why Nakai sensei had called for him. He obviously knew who Nakai sensei was. He was the literature teacher and Ren remembered him because of his strange antics.

Rather than teaching, he liked books more and his class will often be just self-study. He also sometimes talked about books.

Because of his strange connection to books, he had remembered him well.

As he was thinking about that, he reached the staff room and approached Nakai sensei who was sitting in a corner. 

The staff room was rather empty as there were not many teachers in there. 

As Ren was walking towards Nakai sensei, he noticed that Nakai sensei was reading something and Ren was familiar with the thing he was reading. It was his essay.

'He shouldn't have called me because of my essay, right.'

As Ren was thinking about that, Nakai sensei saw him and said.

"Oh, are you Amano-kun?"

"Yeah, that's me. Nakai sensei, why did you called me?"

Ren can tell the reason that he was called was related to his essay but he didn't knew the exact reason, so he asked him.

Hearing Ren's question, Nakai sensei put down the essay he was reading and said.

"It was because I was curious."

"Curious? About what."

Ren asked confusingly but Nakai sensei just smiled while answering.

"About your essay."

"My essay. I don't think there was something to be curious about my essay."

"There was something! It was the ending."

'Ending!'

"You are curious about the ending?"

"Yeah, you know. I read your whole essay but there was no ending. I was really curious about that."

Ren had not written the ending of the essay as he didn't have much time left. Before he knew it, the time was up and he had to submit his paper.

"I didn't write the ending as the time was up."

'Tch!!'

Nakai sensei clicked his tongue at Ren's answer while he muttered 'I should have set the time a little longer'.

He looked really upset while looking at Ren's essay. It felt like he really was dissapointed that he wasn't able to read the ending.

"Why did you want to read the ending that much?"

Ren asked as he was curious about why someone wanted to read his writing.

In his previous life, he was a failed writer and no one wanted to read his writing. So, he was pretty curious why someone wanted to read his writing now.

"The reason I wanted to read the ending..."

Nakai sensei paused for a second and looked outside the window and then he turned towards Ren and said.

"Didn't you want to read the ending of a story you liked?"

"A story you liked. Does it mean that you liked my story?"

"Of course. I really liked it."

Nakai sensei said with a smile but Ren was really stunned hearing that.

'How much years have gone since I heard that sentence.'

It's been nearly two decades since he had heard a compliment about his writing. He was slightly emotional hearing that and he also felt good hearing that someone liked his writing.

"Amano-kun, can I ask you something?"

"Ask me? Ha, sure."

Nakai sensei straightened his back at Ren's answer and asked.

"Why did you choose 'Genius' as the topic?"

'Why I choosed 'Genius' as the topic?'

It was somewhat peculiar question for Ren. He had choosed that as the topic because that word closely relates to his past life.

He also had a sudden impulse feeling to write about that topic. That was the only region but Ren can't tell Nakai sensei that.

"I just choosed this because I thought I will be able to write it the best."

"Just for that reason. Wasn't there more easier topics like 'School' and 'Friends' to choose from?"

"There were those topics but I just thought that I can write this topic the best."

"That was your only reason."

Ren nodded and Nakai sensei just smiled at his answer. 

'Why is he taking so much interest in my essay?'

Nakai sensei wasn't someone who will take interest in something. His only interest were books. So, it was really weird that he was taking interest in a essay.

"Do you have any plans to continue it?"

"Continue? My essay."

"Yeah."

"Sorry, I didn't have any plans to continue it."

Even if Nakai sensei tell him to continue his essay, Ren will not continue it. It was because it will only ruin the ending if Ren continued the essay.

He had written that essay when he had that sudden impulse to write. If he wrote it without any motivation, it will only ruin the story. 

"Not your essay but a novel."

"Huh? Novel?"

"Yeah, a novel."

Ren was really confused by Nakai sensei words now. He wanted Ren to write a novel? It was really absurd.

"That story is too big to stay as a essay. It should be a novel."

"So, you want me to take my story and make it into a novel."

"Yeah, that's what I want."

"What absurd things are you saying?..."

Ren didn't wanted to say those words but he just blurted it out after hearing those absurd words. A novel is not something that can be written just because another person said that the story is good.

It takes many things to write a novel and not everyone have those things.

"I am not forcing you to write a novel. I am just suggesting that you should try to write a novel."

"Yeah, you will do well as a author."

'Ring!'

As Ren and Nakai sensei was talking, the school bell rang.

"I think I need to go to my class. The next period is Sato sensei and he is strict."

"You can go but don't forget about what I said. You can find me at the literature club if you want."

After hearing those words, Ren left the staff room without saying anything.

On the other hand, Nakai sensei just smiled seeing him leave. 

"I wish that kid would consider writing. He will bring a storm in the literature world if he can write stories like this."

Nakai sensei muttered that while looking at the unfinished essay on his desk.

Fame, wealth, prestige, genius, destruction, despair, loss and failure.

Those are the eight words which describes Ren's life completely.

He was hailed as a genius but his arrogance led him to despair. From a genius, he became a failure.

He was just struggling with his life when fate gave him a second chance.

Now, what will he do after he found himself waking up in another world.

In the familiar world of the cognitive mind, or rather, the subconscious world, or even, a type of dream world, there was only one eye-catching, mysterious huge door in the vastness of space. This was because a few vivid figures were already standing at the door. These character cards were just like personality masks. Zhao Youyue could pick any of those masks at her discretion. She could even swap them out, any time she wanted.
Zhao Youyue had not yet chosen to sacrifice any of her character cards. Even a "highly popular character card" like the "Youyue Meow card" was still spared. This character card had proven to be extremely useful in the spiritual source world. Moreover, it could prolong its lifespan by drawing energy from the spiritual source world. Just as Zhao Youyue got busy imagining things, she finally saw the name of this new world ---- ---- "Everyone in the World Other than Myself is in A Deep Sleep."

Mr. Nie handed Aria some parchment and something to write with.

"First, I want you to write your name," he told her.

Aria settled into a desk close to the teacher and quickly wrote her name at the top of the parchment. It took her only a few seconds and Mr. Nie watched her closely. She had quick, fluid strokes and the writing itself was solid, he had no complaints, yet.

"Alright, that's good," Mr. Nie said slowly while thinking about what he should have her write next.

Aria sat in silence while waiting for her next assignment.

After deliberating for a while, Mr. Nie came up with what he wanted her to do next. "First, I want you to copy the third passage from each of these three books. This will show me how well you are able to write. Once you are done with that I will have one last test for you and will then decide on your course of study."

"Yes, Sir," Aria replied as she laid out the books and started on her current assignment.

The first book was another fairytale. This time it was about a peasant girl who became a princess and married a handsome prince. 'Do all fairytales involve princesses?' Aria wondered. She never thought of herself as a princess so she couldn't relate to the stories at all, she understood them and knew that they gave other young girls hope of finding their prince charming but she just couldn't see herself in that kind of situation.

The second book was about etiquette, emphasizing the proper way for children to regard their elders. It listed the rules of respect and the consequences for disrespecting one's elders. Aria found this book interesting. As she now lived in the Elder's manor, she thought these aspects of etiquette would be important for her to remember and follow so that she wouldn't offend Elder or his family after extending their hospitality to her.

The third book was very different from the first two. This one was about the history of magic and cultivation. The third passage that she was tasked to copy went into detail about how spiritual energy was absorbed into the body through a special type of mediation and entered the lower dantian. From the lower dantian, the cultivator could move the spiritual energy throughout their body to their meridians in an endless cycle before moving it back into the dantian. This process helped them to control the spiritual energy within their bodies, with enough practice, one could then release spiritual energy through their meridians and use magic artifacts or cast spells. Aria couldn't tear herself away from this book, even after copying the passage tasked to her, she kept going. This was the most interesting thing she had ever read, especially since she was already able to use magic powers to a certain extent. She wanted to learn as much as she could about this topic.

Mr. Nie watched Aria writing feverently. The longer she wrote, the faster she was. The quality of her penmanship didn't decrease either. He was quite impressed, this girl who had no previous academic training was better than most of the students that he had taught for years! He also noticed her interest in books pertaining to magic and cultivation. He had heard that she had some special abilities, which was why no one in the town wanted to get near her but he was unsure if it was true or not. After an hour, he finally stood up and walked over to Aria, he cleared his throat but she showed no traces of stopping. He placed his hand on her shoulder to get her attention but drew his hand back after just a moment. He looked at her incredulously, it felt like he had put his hand into a sea of electricity when he touched her. He looked back and forth from his hand to her but she still showed no signs of acknowledgment. 

"Aria," Mr. Nie spoke a bit louder than before, finally pulling Aria out of her task. He heaved a sigh of relief when she looked up at him. "That's enough copying for today," he smiled.

Aria was nodded her head and looked back down at her parchment, it was nearly full! She was stunned, she didn't realize she had written so much. "Right, how did I do, Sir?"

"Very well. Now, on to the last test," he said. "Copying what is already written is fairly easy. This time I want you to write as I speak so I can test your auditory comprehension. If you are successful in accurately writing and comprehending what you hear then I can create a proper course of study for you."

"I understand, Sir," was Aria's only response. "I am ready when you are." Aria arranged another piece of parchment and was waiting for Mr. Nie to begin speaking.

Mr. Nie started out slowly just saying random words to test Aria's initial capability of translating spoken word to written word. Once he was satisfied, he started speaking in full sentences, slowly at first then gradually faster. 

"The secret is held in the hands of the youth."

"Dreams are often the subconscious telling truth to the conscious."

"Always believe in yourself and you will transcend into greatness."

"Normalcy is not suitable for the extraordinary."

Individually these sentences may not mean anything but coming one after another, Aria had a strange feeling that perhaps Mr. Nie was trying to tell her something. Just when she was about to ask him, he changed course.

"Always respect your Elders."

"Culinary arts are not to be taken lightly, they can nourish the body or they can destroy it."

"It is always best to use caution when dealing with things you are unfamiliar with."

These string of sentences went on for about another fourty minutes before Mr. Nie finally decided it was enough.

"That should be enough," he told Aria as she completed the final sentence he has spoken. "Let me have a look at it and then I will decide how to teach you."

Aria nodded as she handed him the parchment. The front and back was covered in writing and her hand had started to cramp up on her a bit but she tried her best not to show it.

Mr. Nie went back to his desk and started reading through what she had written, examining the quality of her penmanship, her grammar and the accuracy of the words transcribed. She actually did quite well, especially considering the difficulty of some of the phrases. There were a few minor errors here and there but that was to be expected. Mr. Nie confirmed that her academic abilities in reading and writing were well beyond that of a normal eight year old child. It was quite unexpected for not having any formal education before. 

"Good, good," he murmured to himself. Then he looked over at Aria who had been watching him with an apprehensive expression. "Next you will be tested on your problem solving skills."

Aria nodded in agreement. She didn't know it would be this exhausting just to go to school but she wasn't willing to give up just yet. She steeled herself and mentally prepared for what was to come next.

Mr. Nie handed Aria another piece of parchment but thia one had arithmatic problems on them. The ones at the top were fairly simple, just run of the mill elementary addition and subtraction. As she went farther down the parchment she noticed the equations becoming more complex. She had some basic understanding of math from having to determine how long certain types of food would last her and how often she would need to go out for water and the like. At the end she began running into difficulty and couldn't understand some of the problems. She tried her best but still felt a bit disheartened that she wasn't able to answer them all by the time it was time to leave for the day. 

As the rest of the students were gathering their belongings and getting ready to leave Aria sighed and stood up to turn in the parchment. 

"I'm sorry Mr. Nie," she started. "There were some things that I didn't understand. I will study hard and do better next time, she said with her head hung in disappointment.

"It is alright. I will review these this afternoon and will let you know the results tomorrow morning," Mr. Nie replied in a consoling tone.

"Yes, Sir. I will see you tomorrow then." Aria nodded and made her way to leave.

Kai was waiting for her just outside of the school building.

"So? How did it go?" asked Kai.

"I'm not really sure," Aria said with a frown. "I think I did okay with the reading and writing but I am not confident in my arithmatic."

"Oh you'll be alright," Kai comforted. "I didn't know a thing when I first came to school two years ago, surely you couldn't have done worse than me!"

Aria laughed at that. "Yeah, maybe you're right." She was glad to have met someone like Kai.

Orphaned at a young age, Aria was a peculiar child. She could hear and see things others couldn't, she could manipulate objects with her mind and she could feel the spirits of plants and animals. She knew she was different but she didn't know why. The only clue she had was the jade pendant hung around her neck.

She had lived in an abandoned house on the outskirts of Purple Cove for as long as she could remember, fending for herself. She taught herself to read and write using the old books thrown out by the townspeople. The other children in the village would taunt her whenever they saw her so she usually stayed to herself, she had long gotten used to it. 

One fateful day she was out in the forest next to the village hunting small animals for meat as she usually did when a small winged beast came to her. She had never seen a creature like this before. It had smooth glistening blue skin with small golden spikes down its spine, a long supple tail with a spear shaped end, blazing red eyes and purple tipped wings. She stared at the creature curiously when a sudden bright light shot straight at her heart. 

It was dark when she came to. At first she couldn't tell where she was but as her head cleared she began to remember what happened. When that bright light hit her, images began playing in her mind like some kind of fantastical movie. It showed her a path to a place unlike any other, strange beasts every where, people flying over oceans and never aging. And then there was a large winged beast just like the one she saw before and it felt like it was looking straight into her soul, beckoning her to come to it.
