レビューを書くBefore thinking whether to read the novel or not just read the first chapter on author thought. The storyline and plot is surprisingly detailed and the author managed to write a story where the world doesn't revolve around MC but it's not a multiple POV type story. (Good for me) All major encounters with other characters are logical and they don't just pop out of nowhere just because the plot demands it...they are always given a little background which makes them alive and believable.... except MC's mother side of family. but I guess that will be revealed later. Side characters appear and leave logically and not because of random plot. The story has 2-3 cliche parts but the execution and results are very different from the normal...(*spoiler- there is tournaments and mc finding rare spirit beast and a young master goes after the MC for he talked to his supposed wife/girl...but in a totally different way*) Otherwise this story is kingdom building in a poor abandoned land...mc has his OP inheritance but doesn't use hack techniques to improve his land but simply expensive very scarce resources which any normal lord will spend only on himself. In short the kingdom building is realistic too, compared to other novels where mc is either reincarnation from future or from earth... Another thing in novel you will find interesting is the cultivation system and the structure of cultivation world in general. the difference between different states of cultivation is not insurmountable and those in the same stages is even more so... atleast in the starting and mid stages...this makes it interesting as just having higher cultivation doesn't mean sure victory..it comes down to how good their techniques are and thier teamwork.... This is refreshing after reading so many one man army MCs... The world-building in general is great the noble families, the commoners they act differently than the stereotype established in other novels...like nobles are oppressive and common men are miserable and only the mc saves them and they will grateful to eternity. well that's it ..I ranted a lot .... author keep up the good work, I generally don't start reading new novels unless they have 300+ chapters coz this site has given me many heartbreaks but I changed my mind after reading your first chapter so don't you dare disappoint me by dropping it.
In my opinion one of the best novels I've read on this site so far. Writing quality: apart from some very rare and minor mistakes, the writing is great, especially considering English is not the author's first language Story updates: very regular updates, generally with 2 chapters per day, but as a greedy reader it can never be enough :) Story development:I find the story in general is very well planned out and with a good progression. Main character, while stronger than others at the same level, is not instantly OP. Kingdom building is also very nicely done in a believable way. Something I'm very happy about is also that the characters don't have 1000 skills which make everything really confusing like in other novels, making fight scenes much more engaging. The main reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the somewhat slow pace more apparent during one ark of the story (Between chapters 200-400 if I remember correctly), manly due to "information dumps" placed often in the middle of conversations (need to say though that much of this information becomes relevant afterwards so it is indeed needed, and the story still remained very interesting). Fortunately after that the pace starts picking up and is very enjoyable afterwards, not too slow but also not chaotic. Character design: characters are well designed and they act according to their personalities. There is also interesting character growth for some characters. World background: also nicely done, with distinct regional powers and interactions between them. Looking forward to how the Black Plains start interacting with the rest of the world. As for other novels I would be very happy if a there was a map available. In general I highly recommend this novel.
great novel. deserves a lot more support than any other cliché novel, with silly MCs who think with their cocks. support +1
Reviewing at around chapter 275: I have conflicted feeling about this. the beginning was not too good in my opinion because the author went the extra mile with the drawbacks on the mc, imposing 4~5 handicaps. Then it turned out to be great with many things addressed and an excellent pace until around the mid hundred chapters, I was surprised by how good this turned out to be and was enjoying the story A LOT. afterwards I feel like it went downhill after the tournament arc. it's moving at a snail pace where there was no progress with the mc character for a hundred chapters (think about it, mc moved from lvl 0 to lvl 42 in less than 200 chapters then suddenly you have to grind a hundred chapters, one third of the story, where the mc lvl stagnates. To me that's killing the story with bad pace and not enjoyable one bit). Now to be fair, the story is about "kingdom building" since the title is about the base he is growing, so I would not complain that a lot of story time is spent on growing his forces, but the contrast in the pacing was too obvious. spending hundreds of chapters in events that take few months of story time is a mistake to me, especially when those events are not Central to plot AND the story is in early stages. I will probably come back to this afterwards but I am dreading the grind if the plot slows down as much as it did between lvl 42 to lvl 43.
I'll start by saying that the writing quality is very good. But it's 99.9% conversation filler. One person can say something, and the response wouldn't come till after 8 paragraphs of partially or unrelated info. By the time you get to the response, you forget what you were waiting to hear. Also feels like the author doesn't like their Mc when you can go 5+ chapters or more without a word from them due to a convo between two random citizens talking about a new building.
I will be completely honest, I have not read this novel at all yet. It has been sitting in my reserve list for novels I have on backlog… that being said, every time I scroll through that list to look for something new to start reading and I glance at this novel as it goes by, all I see is: “The Rise of Back Pain” At this point I am not sure I want to start reading it because at this point it has been immotalized as a book about about a man and his increasingly painful back pain problem. I will get to it eventually, but I will never forget you Back Pain and your rise to prominence🫡
Great story arc so far. RVN1998 has written an intriguing and well fleshed out world for the MC to do his thing in. A real rise from the ashes challenge that will have you rooting for his enemies to be crushed. Slight issues with the word usage at times due to English not being the author's native language. But, he writes better than many aspiring native English speakers. Overall, this is a highly recommend in my book!
Overall, this novel is decent but there are a few issues. First is, the author explains too much. There's too much explanation about some new building and how it works. Some are unnecessary and some can be said as it is. Second, the fact that the MC dealt with no issues with the citizens apart from the fact that they're too weak is unrealistic. People get jobs and suddenly, they're happy and no problems occurred afterwards. In every place, there are always problematic people. Drunkards for example. There were even no mention of thievery in Dry City, as if everyone just turned obedient conveniently for the MC. Even if every single one of them got jobs, some habits, while they can be dealt with, they don't die easily. Mass migration from people of different places should have introduced some problems but for some reason, they were obedient. Also, the fact that people from other places could successfully migrate to the Black Plain without leaving any traces is also quite unrealistic. If it's the soldiers, then there would be no issues but civilians are hard to control, especially when they weren't yours or when the cultures are different. There is also the lack of skepticism. Although the author tried to explain this part, the fact that the whole population of a city just disappears and migrates to the Black Plain is quite unrealistic. No one stayed behind, especially the old people, who are (not all) supposed to be the most stubborn and difficult to persuade. I'm still currently on chap 371 so the author might have already addressed these on the not so recent chapters but even if he still hasn't, I hope the author reads this for improvement. Overall, this novel is, as I said, decent and full of potential.
A good one. The cultivation speed is kind of slow and realistic, the kingdom building takes a good part of the story, unexpected good battles, a reasonable mc and good girls.
I love the novel with the various characters and so on. The one thing I hate is that there is too many POV's, tend to forget minor characters unless to will be relevant to the plot. Some minor characters reappearing and that messes my flow.
Everything about this story is great.... aside from the plot with the mother. Even after 1200+ chapters the situation with the mother hasn't changed. He still hates her as much as he did in the beginning, all the while the mother and grandfather act as if she didn't abandon the MC for years on end multiple times. She only appears maybe once or twice every few hundred chapters and it's the same interaction between the MC and her. Every. Single. Time. She shows up, mc is still angry at her and doesn't spare her a second glance, then she butts into to just about every conversation the MC has not realizing that the MC is ignoring her. It's getting old.
Great novel Simple kingdom building and cultivation system that is unique.. Characters are not just 2D but have background and can think for themselves... No cliches ...the spiritual tournament is not your classic going for the top prize...he went to connect with different people whom he can't meet in his territory. Girls don't fall for him and every girl he sleeps with doesn't become his wife.. Overall good original novel and hope author continues it
Hello, I do not have vast experience in writing novels, but I do know that every opinion and review is valuable. Therefore, I would take this chance and express my thoughts about this story. First, there are no significant grammatical errors in the story. There may be some in each chapter, but it does not hinder understanding the flow of events. As for the development of the story, I think that while it's great and well thought out, there are chapters that are 'somewhat' insignificant to the story that I think can be described in shorter words. This is also related to another issue regarding this novel. I don't think I have the qualifications to advise a writer since I have no experience regarding that. But, as a reader, I think that the author likes to give too much detail in describing things in the story. For example, the author will explain the logic behind something that still has no significant role in the current phase of the story. I think that instead of going into too much detail as something was introduced, it would have been better to just give some overview regarding it until it becomes significant to the story so that you can describe these efficiently and timely. Why am I giving such a fuss regarding it? It's because I think highly of the story and it drives me mad to see the story progress, but it irks me that some chapters that aren't too far from being cheap fillers are present. It's good to present the story of side characters, but going into so much depth that causes the story to somewhat lose its luster is not very good. As for the character design. In my opinion, the author did very well in describing and giving color to the characters. Each of them has their personality and identity, causing their interactions with each other very lifelike. As for the updating stability, I have no issue or opinion regarding that. Lastly, for the world background, the author did excellently. The author did not give too much nor too little information, instead providing just enough description about the world and its power structure. Overall, I think that the story is good and is worth a while. The only problem is still the use of too much info in describing certain things and the chapters that resemble cheap fillers.
really fun novel to read. I'm a huge fan of kingdom building types of novels and the fact it fits in with a cultivation type of novel makes if all the more interesting to me. Story development so far has been good so please keep up the good work 👍
Great novel, please continue. I saw that he wasn't very well known, so the story is that the MC's personality is great, so I wanted to pick up on some power stones, and I'm going to tell a few friends about the novel as well. I hope you will continue.
Just going to give 5 stars because I got good laugh out of reading the title wrong i read back pain instead of black Plain and was like i relate😂
Overall a good novel. As the author promises it avoids most of the cliches/pitfalls of other webnovels. The plot, execution etc are very good. But OMG how verbose it is. Every chapter filled with descriptions after descriptions of the smallest things. The most annoying thing is that they start anywhere, middle of dialogue, scene description, etc so by the time the long meandering descriptions of somethings have ended (which towards the end may not even have any relation with the original context) you would lose track of the original context itself. If author can improve on this aspect and generally the writing quality, then this can be a great book.
作者 RVN_1998
Hello there, here is the author. It's become a tradition to do self-reviews here on this site, so I won't be the one to break it... In this little review, I want to talk about the 5 points you can find when making your own review. But before that, I want to say that originally the novel will be divided into volumes, which should reach the mark of 8-10 volumes at the end. Anyway, let's get down to business. Writing quality: English is not my first language, so there will certainly be some mistakes, but I will endeavor to improve this whenever possible. Therefore, I thank you in advance for any correction indicated. Update stability: Although I have my own activities, which can prevent me from writing daily, but I have an abundance of chapters ready. So, I can guarantee that, at least in the coming months, there will be at least one chapter being released each day. As for a higher release rate or extra chapters, this will depend on the votes received by the novel. Story development: There are major and minor plots in the story that will be developed little by little. The speed of progression can be quite varied, in some points it will be a little slower and in others it will be faster. This depends on the importance of each part to the overall story. Character design: For certain reasons, the protagonist will be very intelligent from the beginning of the story. But he is still a person who needs help and who has room for improvement. There will also be some problems so that the character has a certain space to mature, so you can expect some changes to happen... World background: You can expect a lot of information from this world that the MC is in. Whenever I'm writing, I try to make it clear in the text what situation the protagonist is in. Where is he? What is the difference in strength for your opponents? What's outside the protagonist's realm? How is the world where he is? Races... Etc. Anyway, there is certainly a lot of space to be explored. Well, I think that's it. This is my first time writing, so I'm still learning... Anyway, I hope the story is satisfactory!
